Speaker 1 (00:02):
From the theme park Capital of the World, Orlando, Florida.
This is the Theme Park Podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Wait podcast?
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Is this all radio? Why does everything gotta be so
messy on this station? Anyway, here's your hosts Dickerman, Jimmy
D and Scott Harris.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
And welcome to the Theme Park Podcast. I'm your host today,
Jimmy D along with the wonderful and beautiful Scott Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
You can always tell when he's not here because.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Well, we don't discuss the show. Well, mister Dickerman is
not with us this week because he's had uh he's
still alive. I don't know what it is about his nose.
He hasn't loved it since he was a kid, so
he finally went and did it and got himself some rhinoplasty.
(00:55):
So he'll be back with us next week, but unfortunately,
no pictures with Dickerman and on this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
The funny thing is like, before he sat recording, I
was like, yeah, I was like sleep deprivate OTAs like
I could just do the show by myself.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
You should have. I mean, honestly, I'm dead way the show.
I contribute nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Something about soccer season back in and I'm just like
I can do anything.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Scott. You may have a little too much on your plate.
Just thrown it out there.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I need as much things on my plate as possible.
That's the thing I was. I watched Lawrence of Arabia
the other day. I started at like eleven o'clock at night.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
I see what you're trying to do. You were trying
to overcompensate your brain so that the voices in your
head don't talk to you.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, exactly. That's why. A few weeks ago I watched
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, that trio of films.
I started watching those at ten o'clock at night. Next
thing I know was six am and I was done.
We all cope with things in our own way.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I just do it with topia too. But it's got
breaking news from MegaCon. If you're driving into MegaCon right now,
I am sorry to tell you Peggy the Dog aka
dog Pool canceled guest.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah, yeah, I told you this. This was one of
the core tenants of why you wanted to attend.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah. I mean I was, like, you know, because I
just came back from the cruise, you know, about to
go on another cruise. I was supposed to be I
should be at Epic Universe as we speak. But it
sold out and we did not plan accordingly, and.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
You didn't want to do what I did.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Yes, I sold out. Well, what you did was an
extreme for a very specific purpose, and I absolutely would
have done what you've done. But and I mean, it
was for my nephew's birthday, and I feel incredibly guilty
that I missed it. But you know, we did not
plan well. And that wasn't just me, that was the
(02:55):
all the adults in the situation. The kids were probably
the most prepared. Scott, what did you you told me? Off?
Are you spend a truckload of cash on day one
at Mega con? Oh? I mean, hang on, I want
to know what you got?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I hang on, hang on, I mean musical?
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Oh my god, you bought it. He's showing me this
great for radio. But it's a dumpster on fire with
the little dog drinking the cup of coffee saying this
is fine.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
So I have wanted one of these for for many years.
They have several different iterations of the Usually it's just
the dumpster on fire, but now they've like done mashups
with like other brands, so like they have one. I
think there's one with like a panda, a trash panda
on it. But then there's the this is fine, uh
little guy.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Was there a mood dang?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
No, because moodang is too happy.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
I don't know when she's uh, when she's chaos. I
mean that mouth mm hmm. Well, I show up a
neat gap but no trouble.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
But when I went. I went yesterday because I always
likes to go on the first day to kind of
get a layer of the land. And I just happened
to be like walking and I saw for the it's
the brand is called one hundred percent Soft, and so
they had like a giant booth and I'm like, oh
my god, I've always wanted one of these, but it's
like it's that whole I could buy it and like
(04:21):
like order online kind of thing, and then I just
forget about doing it. But I'm like, here's a booth.
I can literally walk up, grab a thing and then leave.
It will be in my hands as I'm leaving.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
And I prefer that too, because you know exactly what
you're getting exactly, cause I mean there's a whole you know,
there's whole people making a living off of buying stuff
off a TIMU and then coming back not what it's
supposed to be.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Next thing, you try to buy one of these on
on TMU. Next thing you know, you have a literal
dumpster on fire in your driveway, like it just arrives
pre lit.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
So I send me a link.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
I want that, so I'm like, let me go do this. Also,
it's like one of those booths that's kind of like
closed in, and I'm like, if I try to do
this any other day, there's gonna be like a line
wrapped around it. So I'm like, this is like a
day one I broke my Usually I don't. I have
a rule about not buying things the first day. But
it's like it's going to be if if Thursday's first
(05:22):
day was any kind of a indicator, it is going
to be the most well attended mega con since last year.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
The list of guests is insane. Well, there are a
less celebrities on there, like Academy Award winning actors coming,
Hellen Hunt, Brendan Fraser is Brandon Fraser. Uh the guy
from Beetlejuice. Baldwin, Yes, why can't I remember? It's very
unique name. So the Stephen Baldwin Stephen Balden, you get
(05:56):
a Ballwin? Can you get a Baldwin brother's picture?
Speaker 2 (05:59):
I I I can, Yes, I will be there.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
No, I mean like, is that something they're offering, because
if I could get Stephen and Alec in one picture?
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Okay, well, I mean okay, even you brought this up,
so I actually have the full panel schedule.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Okay, so late. Uh so.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
If you're going on Friday, when this episode will be published,
there is uh that one already happened. I don't want
to mention that one because it will make you sad.
Uh later on today. The Baldwin brothers Alex and Stephen
Baldwin nice ah.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Stephen was always my favorite, Like if you've if you've
never seen Biodome or the usual Suspects, you know.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
It ends there. But they're iconic in their iconic performances.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Tonic roles. Yeah, and I know he's a little bit
uh squirrely. Yeah, he's the nutty but brother. Out of
you know all the bull who's who's the middle one
everybody was in love with?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
There's well there's Alec, William, Stephen and Billy and then I.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Think it was Billy Paul when everybody.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Was in love with and then if you're a Firefly fan,
there's Adam who isn't one, but everyone assumes is one.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
You know. I think about Adam Baldwin and I'm like,
he yeah, he could, uh, he could make it. Is
he a cousin? No? Is there any kind of there's
no blood relation there.
Speaker 2 (07:28):
Nope. He just happens to have the same last name,
same profession, and kind of look the same.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Okay. I mean honestly, as I get older, all all
white men look the same to me.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Uh, hell boy, unleashed Ron Pearlman another Jimmy thing from
Scrubs to Shagadelic. Heather Graham, I know you're a Scrubs fan,
So that's why I mentioned that one.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
You know, when I went to Star Wars celebration, Donald
Donald Bazin was there and he voiced a character named Beason.
You know, I think it was a a droid. I
wasn't there for his Star Wars appearance. I was like,
this is doctor Turk and like me and my buddy
kept playing that clip of him going. You know, because
he does a scene with Billy uh Billy d Williams
(08:10):
and Scrubs and he calls him Lando. It's just so funny.
You gotta see it.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
There's an Expiles cast reunion with everybody except for Molder. Yeah,
everyone but David Coveney. So I'm gonna try to pop
up the last.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
It's the last season of X Files.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Well well, well it depends on what you considered the
last season.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
When when he left the show the original original reason, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
From Falcon to Thunderbolts Wyatt Russell and yeah, because that
one was canceled. And then really the the big thing
is is tomorrow. So tomorrow, especially for people within the
realm of this podcast, Saturday.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
You say, when you say tomorrow, you're talking about.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Saturday, Saturday at ten thirty in the morning. So you've
listened to this podcast on the radio. You've listened to
this radio show on the radio. If you've listened to
this podcast already, you already know this information. At ten
thirty Saturday morning, Behind the Screams Crafting thirty five years
of Fear at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horrnites.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
They're gonna there's gonna be a million announcements today or
Saturday that day.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yeah, So it's literally teasing announcements for Halloween Horrnites thirty five.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
I did see a bunch of influencers got some kind
of invitation in the mail.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
There's a ticket in on it. This is like a
theme park conspiracy. Brain is like the letters to spelled
icon are all like lowercase.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
So they're gonna reveal the icon.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Or bring them yeah, like bring them back. Maybe this
means Jack's back. The color scheme on the graphic itself
kind of looks like a carnival ticket.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
It does, so I mean Jack maybe back.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
If my nemesis has returned, I will have to say
it like Oscar Isaacs and Star Wars the Rise of Skywalker.
Somehow Jack has returned. So that's that is Saturday morning.
Elsewhere on Saturday morning, there's a Goonies cast reunion, a
(10:32):
Star Trek the Next Generation reunion, well two of them,
Jonathan Fraakes, Gates McFadden, Halloween behind the Scenes, Dean Coundy,
Tommy Lee Wallace, Nick Castle, PJ. Souls. There's also another
one of those on Sunday afternoon that includes John Carpenter.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
That is, that's the one you want to go to.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
That's the one that I will after, honestly, later on,
after I get his John Carpenter's autograph I will just
be sitting outside the booth or not the the I
believe it's in the chap in theater, So I'll just
be sitting outside waiting for that. And I won't be
alone because also on Sunday there is the K Pop
(11:13):
Demon Hunter's panel.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Oh my god, that's gonna be an enormous Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
That is also on Sunday. That's Sunday at noon. And
I will say this, I saw that movie. I really
like that movie. I watched them win the Academy Award.
I watched them sing Golden at the Academy Awards as well.
Nothing will prepare anyone for going to a convention with
the amount of people dressed up as the trio from
(11:40):
K Pop Demon Hunters.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
It is.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
It is truly insane. And this is their first ever
like con appearance for some of them.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Well, if that's the case, and it's the first time
they've been together at a con and honestly, even if
you don't go to that panel, just standing outside of
that panel in the queue, hmm, will be an experience
like that's a that's a photo worthy experience, like that's
that line will be ready for the GRAM.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Yeah, it's it will be it will be an insane thing.
But also the the other crazy thing that is happening
is because there's so much of the Lord of the
Rings cast that that is there.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Yeah, and not just the like the the you know,
smaller characters. It's like we're only missing a handful of
people from the Fellowship.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Yeah, exactly, like all the Hobbits are are there. But
because of that and because it's like sanctioned, I want
to say, like you know what I mean, like it's
being tied in with the brand, is that the Wetta
FX Company is also there. Like the people that do
these special effects are doing Like there's two panels on
(12:51):
Sunday from sci fi to superheroes, creating costumes for film
and TV and then delving deep a Tolkien's nerds stories
for designing the Lord of the Rings films. And it's
like not just fans, which are all a lot of
fun to check out as people that have done panels
and we are just fans, but people that like worked
(13:11):
on creating the world of Lord of the Rings, like
talking about their experiences.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Yeah, that's pretty dope.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
And also those are that's on Sunday. And also there's
the panel of Elijah Wood, Live Tyler, Jonathan Rees Davies,
and John Noble all talking about their experiences making Lord
of the Rings and and if one anyone knows Elijah
Wood does really good panel.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
You know, I saw he's a DJ now he has
been us. Is he spinning in Orlando or is that
justin Denver? Because I saw he's going to spin at
a Lord of the Rings themed Brave in Denver, and
I thought I saw he was going to spend somewhere
in Orlando during Mega Gon.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Uh, I that I don't know. I'll have to look
at you, but but that will be a lot of fun.
So if you're going out to Magic on Plan accordingly
there is a PSA. There is can we always talk
about the dirt lot as where we like to park
for the conventions, really any convention that is happening. Uh,
(14:17):
there's construction going on on that road, so just be
mindful of that so it becomes one lane either way
coming or going. It was very weird being there on
a Thursday, and I can literally count, I think, on
two hand, on like my hands in your hands, the
amount of cars that were in that parking lot. And
(14:39):
I don't know if it was just because it's a Thursday,
but I mean it is spring break like and it
was a very well attended day, but just be mindful
of that. Also, it is you use an app to
pay for parking there so no cash.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Yes. On Sunday, after his panel that you were just
talking about, after his convention appearance and he's all done.
At eight o'clock on Sunday, Elijah Wood is spinning at
the Vanguard in downtown Orlando.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
And if you don't know what the Vanguard is, Firestone.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Oh, it's so crazy. Frodo is spinning at Firestone.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Frodo is spinning a club Firestone.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Yep. You know. One time I was going to Firestone
with some friends and I probably shouldn't tell this story,
but we took a stop so somebody could like tie
their shoe or whatever. And where we stopped there was
a do you remember the old newspaper boxes that you
would put the coin in and like open, like the
(15:36):
Orlando Setinel ones. Yeah, Well there was one on the
sidewalk and it was a pickup truck right behind it,
and we were idiot teenagers and the four of us
picked up that newspaper box and put it in the
back of the truck that was right behind it.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
You can't do that.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
And I don't know why we did that. And I
really hope that guy had some friends otherwise he just
drove much the Orlando FO this truck. I mean, I mean,
I don't know if we committed a crime, but if
we did, I apologize. The thing is statue of limitations
gotta bee over.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Statute of limitations should should be over. But also think
think about it this way. You didn't drive off with it.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Technically didn't steal anything.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
We just moved it exactly literally feet elsewhere besides Mega
con If you're going to Megican and you see me,
say say hello. Like I'm always a personal person at
these conventions, I somehow always get recognized.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Scott will be cosplaying as somebody who is feeling well, right, yes,
we'll go with that. Not that he feels, not that
he has like the flu or anything and just mental
health issues.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
No.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
I know, I have gotten over my flu. It was
very it was a very annoying for eight hours. Some
people claim that I didn't have the flu. I know
what I was dealing with, but it is what it is.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
A week ago now, So you're good.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Yeah, right, going on next door almost over at Aquatica,
they are doing their Aloha to Summer event.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
I saw this very interesting, and I'm always interested in
things that are Waii based.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Going on over there Celebration Welcome featuring the Spritzer Squad.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Now I gotta I gotta look into more what the
spritzer means. Is it mean they're gonna like cool us
off with some like sprits of water or is it
like is it like when you mix Uh?
Speaker 2 (17:44):
I believe it's cooling you down once you walk inside,
because it literally because it says when the park opens.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Okay, so it's not gonna be like wine mixed with
uh no right right.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
No, Then there's tassies underwater twist some overlay in music, Jimmy.
This is specifically for you knew bar trivia with themed categories.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
How am I going to keep my wife out of
this point? Anytime there's bar trivia around her, she is
drawn to it like a moth to light.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Depends on what it is, and I could be if
you do like specific things, I can be like right.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
There, yeah, uh, there's a pizza place right by me
that does very specific things. But the one time we
went and did Friends trivia. We got mode over. It's
like lit up and it's made us gun shy to
go back because we even like studied for it and
still got like like tossed around.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
I went to one once and it was Harry Potter
trivia and I'm like okay with that, and then oh no,
it was Curtis Earth.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Yeah, Curtis Earth at hard Rock at hard Rock.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yeah, I've been to a couple, but the one I'm
talking about it was it was Curtis Arth and it
was like, oh, okay, the movies, like, I'm kind of good.
And then it becomes on page three hundred and twenty
seven like this character said this, and what was it
in reference to? And I'm just like, you've lost me here.
You that required too much?
Speaker 3 (19:15):
That is that's a hard coret that's got to be
a round three question. Yeah, exactly, that's a five point question.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
But also at Aquatica rotating week experiences like sand Castle Arts,
surfboard art, shell art, so every time you go it's
a different experience. This is going on now through May
third over at Aquatica.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Yeah, because you can only say hello to summer for
so long.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Except in the state of Florida.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
You can.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Actually that's not completely accurate because leaving Megicon last night,
I think it was like sixty degrees and that it's
not summer.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
No, And when I got up this morning and it
was like in the upper forties and the dogs looking
at me like, no, not going out.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
That's the funniest thing, is like I was, I was
like talking, been like, oh, you gonna dress up as
Spider Man. I'm like, here's the thing. I love dressing
up with that as that character. There's a reason I
spent as much money on a quality costume. Also, it's
part of the reason why I've maintained shape. It's kind
of been like one of the motivating factors in this.
I would not be able to survive the walk from
(20:17):
the car into the convention when it was that breezy
and chilly when I was leaving that thing. It does
not provide any warmth whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
You gotta do the what was it homecoming where he's
wearing like the gold jacket over, yes, the Spider suit,
that's what you gotta do, or the hoodie.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Or I could do the Peter B. Parker from the
into the Spider Verse where he's wearing sweatpants over sweatpants
in like an army jacket over his Spider Man costume. Okay,
so I could I could have done that. I actually
still can do that, but I have not.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yes, we'll have to get you some under armour.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
No. So the thing is, I've talked about this. When
I went to Japan, I bought thermals there, So I
just haven't tried doing those underneath of my Spider Man
t because, like, I wore those when I was in
Japan and it was forty degrees outside and I was
perfectly fine. And it's I realized that's how so many
(21:26):
people are getting away, Like females were getting away with
wearing like skirts and shorts when it was that cold.
It's because they had those tights on. And there's such
like a game changer that you can get away, you
can be completely warm wearing those.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
Yeah. When I was in Japan, it was pretty chilly,
like a good majority of the time of the year there,
and there was so many baby doll dresses. I'm just like,
how are you not freezing? Like I know sometimes like
you know, if they're from Wisconsin, they can wear you know,
a baby doll dress. Exist Like, yeah, that's a spring
I know it's a warm spring day, but for you know,
(22:04):
for us Floridians, like you know, you drop the temperature
just a little bit below air conditioning and we're all screaming,
like you.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Know, but I always I will. This is not spawn
con unique Low. It's their heat tech. It is the
biggest game changer I have ever had, and I when
I went to Epcot, I can't believe I forgot the
name of it. A few weeks ago when we were
having the twenty degree freeze, wore those there underneath like
(22:35):
my jeans. I was content. Might have also played a
role because of the countries I drink at.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
But well, yeah, you know, alcohol has been known to
h worm the soul, if you will question for you
on your thermals, it is the fabric patterned at all.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
No, there's black in gray and white.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
No, I'm not talking about it. I'm not talking talking
about like the uh like. I'm talking about the like
like Long John's have like a waffle like.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
No, these are like just like a regular fabric, like
it doesn't have any of that waffle.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Okay. The reason I asked this is because like one
of the things I noticed when I started wearing under armour.
Is it really smoothed out some of the rough edges
if you will? It was like I looked more h
buff than I actually am, Like I have no definition whatsoever.
And I put on one of those, and I put
on a blue one, and I was like, I look
(23:32):
like Superman. I was like, like, you could see pecs,
you could see like the the you know. So I
wonder if that would help you with your Spider Man
to even look more even better, not that you look
bad post pop.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Possibly, possibly I will have to. I'm just saying, play
around with them.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
You maintain you maintain your shape for somebody whose shape
is uh wooh related. You know. I'm just wondering what
things out there I can use to smooth out the
rough edges. So I looked just a little bit better.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Yep, totally could work. That's gonna do it for this
week of the show. We'll be back for Scott Strength
next week.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Dickerman's doctor said that the rhinoplasty, after one week, he'll
be able to speak clearly without any kind of impittment. Scott,
