Speaker 1 (00:00):
We will start from the beginning.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Ladies and gentlemen, I've been Fletcher, that's Sammy Long, That's
how it stars.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
The Padres get the Brewers in Milwaukee today we'll break
down the matchup and can the Beats get going? The
Lakers season ends with a gigantic thud. Is this the
end of the lebron run in purple and gold?

Speaker 4 (00:18):
I don't know. I don't know what the future holds
for me. Obviously as it stands.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Right now, it's night and more NFL games are revealed. Plus,
I want.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Winner Fistins and Cass. I like the over to thirteen
and a half in this game.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Man, I'm tired of being right.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
I like rude, rude to beat Lorenzo Mussetti at the
Brazilian Open and not the one, all right? And then
to my Lakers, I do like the over to fourteen
and a half in this game to close it out
in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Don't call it a come back, you'll stop for me.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
We go to the studios of San Diego Sports seven sixty.
I get in the zone with Fletch and Sammy. Let's
get it going on a Tuesday. What's happening everybody?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Then, Fletch.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
He's youre Sammy Long with you till two o'clock today, Sammy,
we'll keep the party rolling after that from two to three,
Schaeffer and s Leewa will be your drive home. Big
voice guy must really like Sammy Long because something was
conveniently left off of that Long.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
We don't need to talk about the hockey pick now.
The hockey pick did not hit.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
However, I've been taking the advice from was it our
eight five eight texter?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Sammy or a five eight is a big alt line
type guy.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
So I've been taking that advice, and I actually moved
the hockey line to seven and a half instead of
a six and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
So ah one unlock shots last night?

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Soft, don't We don't change alt lines here, soft or smart.

Speaker 2 (01:35):

seven sixty. Tap the little red microphone on on in
the top right hand corner of the screen. You can
jump on those messages go straight to Sammy's computer. We
can play them throughout the show today because we got
a big show today. Padres have a big series coming
up against the Milwaukee Brewers. Lakers season just ended. The
question for the talkback Mike today, will Lebron ever play

(02:18):
another game in purple and gold? It's a question I've
been thinking about a lot today and I think where
I come down to is this Lebron and Austin Reeves.
One of them will not be on the Lakers come
next year. That is my thought process. We got the
next two hours to talk about it. Of course, we
will talk plenty of Padres. Kevin Ace coming on at
twelve thirty in the NFL schedule release just keeps on kicking.

(02:40):
So let's start with that Lakers game from last night.
Ok See sweeps the Lakers. Okay see undefeated in the
postseason so far. One ten actually a very good game.
Shake Gildris Alexander played terrific. I think the Lakers put
up a hell of a fight in the final game.
They easily could have walked in there and rolled over
and died. But with about third to forty seconds left

(03:01):
in the game, Reeves had a shot at it, bron
had a shot of it.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
They both missed. That was the game. Okay, see wins.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
They go into the third round of the NBA postseason
with an undefeated record. Sammy's our diehard Lakers fan here
on San Diego Sports seven sixty. Sammy thoughts on last night,
the game itself, then we can get all that outside
stuff surrounding the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
I right, it sucks. It sucks when the the In
my world, when the Lakers are out of the playoffs,
I do kind of, you know, reiterate what you were saying.
I give them credit for fighting. I thought, actually they
were gonna get blown out yesterday. I thought too, Honestly,
I thought when they lost Game three and having leads
in Game two, in Game three at halftime and losing

(03:41):
both of those games, I thought Game four they were
just gonna roll over. I give them credit for fighting.
They they fought throughout this series like they If you
didn't watch the games and you looked at the final scores.
It was a lot. It was different than how the
game actually went right.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
The Lakers had halftime leads and what was it, three
out of the four or two out.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Of the four to games two and three games. So
but even in all these games they were in it.
It's just these third quarter runs that the thunder have
went on and the Lakers are kind of able to
stave that off. Yesterday, I give Reeves a lot of credit.
He had a good game. Lebron had a good game.
The Ruey Hashchamarro has been was been a star of
this series. I mean, one of the best three point

(04:21):
foll goal percentages of the Lakers of all time in
the postseason during this run. So look, they were overmatched.
It's hard to come on here and crush them like
the Lakers. When they win, everyone gets way too high.
When they lose, everyone gets just like the world's ending
because it's the Lakers, kind of like the Yankees of
the Cowboys. They didn't have a shot in this series.
They not having Luca I would have liked. I don't

(04:43):
think they would have won the series. It would have
been fun to see Luca out there. I know Jayleen
Williams didn't play, but those kind of third quarter runs
that really did the Lakers in. I do think if
Luca was playing, you could have just gotten a bucket
and stopped some of those. That was the Lakers problem
in this series. They just they didn't have anyone to
stop stop the runs. But the Thunder just just a
lot more talented. The benches are not even comparable to

(05:05):
the Lakers, and that was on full display. The Lakers
don't have a Jared McCain and you see guys like
that coming through for the Thunder, and guys like that
just are on the team for the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Yeah, I'm really curious to see if whether it's Minnesota
or San Antonio, if either of them can put up
a fight against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have definitely
looked bulletproof to the I think the Spurs can. The
Spurs can just because of the Wemby mismatch. I mean,
nobody in the league has anybody to guard Victor Webbin Yama,
but I okay, see doesn't either, So I'm curious to
see what happens.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
But that series is completely up in the air.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
I'd say it's fifty to fifty right now between Minnesota
and in San Antonio in that Game five is coming
up later tonight, so it'll be interesting to watch that.
So round two of the NBA postseason, we got two
series who are heading into a game five completely tied
up at two games apiece. And we have two series
that are in the books already. Nicks and Oka see
both advancing, and the Spurs timber Wolves are are still

(05:56):
in their series.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Game five coming up tonight.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Now what's interesting about this is Lebron right after the game,
did the Aaron Rodgers thing, did the Lebron James thing.
I feel like this is a once a year thing
where Lebron is very cagy with the media, as he
should be. It's right after the final game of the season.
He said, I don't know what my future holds. And
you can interpret that any way you want. You could say, Okay,
is Lebron going to YouTube golf? Is Lebron going to
be on the Lakers next year? Is he retiring and disappearing?

(06:18):
Is he going to TV? Is he going to be
the next person to be roasted on Netflix? You have
all these different options kind of bumbling around your head.
I do think that what he was saying is I
don't know what team I'm playing on next year, because
I think Lebron will definitely be in the NBA next year,
don't you, Sammy, I.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Think he'll be. I mean he balled out in the series.
He was averaging in the mid twenties of points. I
don't know why. It's a lot like the Brady thing.
It's like, yeah, everyone should is telling me because of
my age, I should retire, but I'm also playing an
extremely high level. The question is gonna come down to
is a is any team going to offer him big money?
Because the only way he's back with the Lakers if

(06:56):
he takes a discount. The Walders group has already made
it clear Rich Paul and Lebron James went to the
Lakers last summer and wanted an extension. They said no,
They're like, we're not extending you because we're gonna build
this team around Luca. If Lebron wants to come back
on a ten million dollar contract, fifty million dollars contract,
that mid level tax payer exception, the Lakers would love
to have him. I think it's down to the Lakers,

(07:18):
Nix and Calves, and we'll see what team comes out
of the East and what team needs him, but he
would kind of be the perfect kind of push your
team over the top if you were in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
It's gonna be an interesting offseason. I feel like with
Aaron Rodgers and Lebron James we get this every year. Obviously,
Lebron playing at a little bit different level than a
rod Is. All right, let's get to the big three
here of our number one where Sammy rips through the
top stories in the world of sports. We got lots
of padres talk coming up over the next thirty minutes.
Kevin ac at twelve thirty, Sammy smash, he looked.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Freak is here.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Ready to go back to the officely and knock that
socks off your friends, I mean co workers each time
for the top stories of the day.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Three three three. My name is Ben Fletcher. That's SAMMI.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Long pleasure having you here. If you have a minute,
please go over to the heart radio app. Hit the
little plus icon that adds us to your presets, helps
us out with the bosses and helps you out get
into us every single day, Sammy, where are we going?

Speaker 4 (08:12):
By the way, did you see Dylan Brooks at the
game last night? I did? Can never win something of
his own, so we have to go to somewhere else
to hate watch and make.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
A bit of a scene as well. Where are we going, Sammy,
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Let's go to the NFL. So Chiefs Broncos leaked for
Monday Night football. We don't know where, will the game
being Kansas City or in Denver. What do we make
of the Week one matchup? And how do we feel
about the league trying to do the Chiefs dirty with
Mahomes coming off the injury, in scheduling a divisional game
off the jump, But yeah, we'll get to it.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Okay, Well, last year it was Eagles Cowboys Week one
that was a great.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Was either of those quarterbacks coming off of ariel surgery?

Speaker 1 (08:50):
I love it. I think the league's doing the right thing.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
That is a super intriguing primetime matchup for Week one.
I will say this, When I first saw that, I thought,
all right, well, if right now, in Patrick Mahomes and
the Chiefs head he's coming back for Week three. And
this is totally hypothetical, but right now, if the plan
was to get him back for Week three fully healthy,
that plan has just moved up two weeks because there's
no chance in hell Patrick Mahomes is missing Week one

(09:14):
against the team that just took the AFC West for
them for the first time in forever. So Patrick Mahomes
will be playing Week one. I hope this game is
in Denver personally, because I think that just adds a
little bit more intrigue to it. I'm very much so
looking forward to this Week one slate that we have
so far.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
I'm very much looking forward to the fall off of
the dever Broncos because.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Here we go.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Yea.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
By the way, bo Nick's also coming off the season
ending injury.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Yeah, yeah, I know, Sam.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
He liked to skew it one way.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
It was an ankle injury. No one cares about that.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
I broken ankle. They kind of a big deal.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
They Here's the thing. I'm I'm very excited aged the
Chiefs fan, But as from an NFL perspective, both these
two teams become game because the last two years ago,
She's won eleven one score games. People were right, they
said the Chiefs was gonna come back to bite them,
and it totally did. The Chiefs won one one score
game last year. They were in a lot of almost

(10:06):
all those games, and they had they could not execute
in the fourth quarter of games. I think a lot
of it was due to not having a run game.
The defense, the pass rush was not there, and you know, guys,
now the lineup for she Rice suspended for the first
little bit, Josh Simmons miss time. But the Broncos won
a bunch of one score games last year and they
were playing a third play schedule, So now they're playing

(10:28):
a first play schedule. I'm really curious to see if
maybe it doesn't happen to the Broncos. Maybe the Broncos
aren't ascension here, and after Bonnicks not being available for
the AFC title game, they go on a little bit
of a run. What I think is more likely to happen,
I think we're gonna see a Chiefs like thing. I
think the one score games are gonna fall off. They
beat the Giants in a one score game, the Jets,

(10:49):
the Chiefs third stringers Washington. They had a very favorable schedule,
and considering the Chiefs are back, the Chargers are gonna
be a good team, and the Raiders are not going
to be a walkover team like they in the past.
I think the Broncos are due for a little bit
of regression.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Well, last year, the fun conversation heading into the season
was the worst to first conversation in terms of divisions,
because you had seems like the Bears the Niners who
kind of inexplicably landed last place in their divisions.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
This year, the opposite is true.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
The first to worst conversation is very much alive with
both the Patriots and le Broncos.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Right, I think the AFC is gonna be really interesting.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
It's gonna be very different. What's next? Saving All right,
let's go to.

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Let's go to. Anthony Edwards calls out, Actually he doesn't
really call out Victor Wemeniama, but they asked him when
Victor Wemeniama went out of the game the other night.
They asked if it was how it was like playing
the Spurs without Wemby. He actually said it was harder
because the offense entirely runs through Wemby, so they had

(11:47):
there was more options, more players for them to have
to deal with. Was this fair for Anthony Edwards to say?
And do you view it as a shot at the
Spurs or just say genuine take.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
It's okay, it is a shot. Because Anthony Edwards is
a smack talker, he's a nice talker. This is kind
of what he does, and I like this about Anthony Edwards.
I want to make this very clear. I do not
think it's true. I think Victor wemben Yama is the
one piece in the NBA right now who you literally
cannot game plan for.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
He is just that big, that tall, that talented.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Where Victor woman Yama will always make a game plan tougher.
Where he might be right is the physicality of the
Spurs increases when women Yama's not on the court. He
hasn't put that part of his game together yet. He
probably needs to gain twenty pounds if for being honest
about Victor Wemenyama. So that's where he's probably right. But no,
it does not get easier when Wemby's not on the court.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
I kind of see what he's saying.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
He's a crap talker.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
No, but I but a.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Man Batman, Superman, Bakers in five.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
But here's the thing he's saying. He's not saying they're
a better team. He's saying they're harder to defend, which
makes sense because we like we've seen this with the
offense does entirely flow through Wemby and it kind of
keeps God like the guard for the Spurs is the
only team there may be behind is Oklahoma City. I

(13:05):
mean Dylan Harper, number two overall picked say you know,
Stefan Castle, Darren Fox, Devin Vessel, Keldon Johnson. They got
guards and wing players for days. But when Wemby's on
the floor, he's such a unique athlete in star one
of the best players in the league, that you're able
to focus a lot of the attention on him. Also,
in terms of Minnesota, it's a weird matchup play when
he's not out there because Gobart becomes kind of irrelevant.

(13:27):
If Wemby's not playing, go Beart and nas Reed. It's
harder to have them on the floor because they went
to a small ball type thing. I'm curious if they
try small ball again, even with Wemby in tonight. This
is gonna be This is gonna be a fun of
fun game. Five squeeze one more in all right, So, uh,
the college football coach is already getting after it. So
Lane Kiffin, Uh was just talking about Ole Miss and

(13:52):
had some controversial stuff. Steve sarkja so Sark, who coaches Texas,
told USA Today Today that quote all you have to
do is take basket weaving and you can get an
Old Miss degree. So firing shots at Lane Kiff. And
this comes after like some of the Old Miss players
have kind of certainly not been too fond of Lane

(14:13):
Kiffin after he leaves to LSU. What do you make
of the coaches going back and forth at each other?

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Are we turning college football into the WWE? What are
we doing here, guys? I guess it's building up intrigue
for next season. We're talking about college football, which is
a good thing this time of year. The basket weaving
comment was hilarious, and that is where I'm choosing to
take this. I think that that was comedy genius from
Sark and I applaud it and I want more of it.

(14:39):
Keep talking about it, man. What do you think about
LSU's academics? What do you think about Penn State's academics? I?

Speaker 4 (14:46):
Well, first off, I love it, because, yeah, when ls
you think you think LSU is worth Ole Miss. They're
paying thirty million dollars year for their football program, you
think they give a damn what the academics are. If
the if they're f on their physics test, but it
is kind of funny in the SEC. How for years,
who's always thought of you know, they always puffed their

(15:06):
chest out. We're the most dominant conference, right because Alabama
and Georgia would always be going back and forth vuying
for national championships. Well, the Big Ten is one at
the last three seasons with Indiana, Ohio State, and Michigan.
Now you've got Texas in there, you got Lane Kiff,
and you jump to LSU. Ole Miss is a good
program at Pete Golding. I'm curious if the SEC gets

(15:26):
back to that level where they're dominating college football because
I think the new premier conference in college football is
the Big Ten, and frankly, it's not even close with
Nick Saban not there at Alabama anymore.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
So if you look further into sarks quote, it actually
was kind of grounded in reality because at Texas, which
is where Sark coaches, if someone transfers into Texas the university,
they go back to fifty percent no matter how far
they are from graduating. So if say you were a
semester away from graduating, if you transfer into Texas, you're
going back to fifty percent. At Ole Miss, you can

(15:58):
transfer in a semester away literally to his credit, take
a basket weaving course and if you only needed that
many units left, you can graduate, which is why this
is undeniably hilarious from sar.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
You think you think Trinidad Shambus, the quarterback for almost
is in ap chemistry. No, I would do.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
What I did in college.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I needed like six more units to graduate my senior year,
and instead of like rushing that and doing summer school
after my junior year, I took three straight quarters of
bowling because college fun sart didn't get any better at Bullets.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Shout out, shot out to sark Man, I'll.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Sor for letting me graduate with st three straight quarters
of bowling to end my collegiate career.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
All right at San Diego Sports seven sixty quick break.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Here on the other side, let's get you ready for
the Padres Brewers matchup. Did any of the Padres get
haunted last night? We lost Kevin Acy That coming up
in just a little bit. You're listening life on my
heart radio app in Italy. Luca Vincini. I'm gonna guess
that's how you say his name.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
We got a bunch of Lucas on the team though.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Twenty three years old, six foot nine.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
He becomes the third European professional player joining San Diego
State's this season. Remember Lucas Scorich was the Croatian wing
another Lucas spelled differently though ones with the see ones
with a K, and then David Torrisani from Neutral Bullet
today Viso. So three Italian or European pros joining San
Diego State's roster. The latest one named Luca Vincini, is

(17:18):
twenty three years old. He's six foot nine, has been
a pro for six years. This is good news for
San Diego State. Excited to see what this roster looks like.
Honestly excited to hopefully interview some of these guys because
I want to hear some accents on this show. It's
time we liven this up and stop just having two
basic white boys just talking on.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Just ready for some accents on the show.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
So I'm saying, all right, is San Diego Sports seven sixty,
Ben Fletcher, Sammy long with you for the next couple
of hours. Sammy will keep the party rolling after that.
If you missed it, The keyword for this hour, much
like Vin Diesel would say, is family. You could take
that over to SPORTSSD dot com. Enter it there for your.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Tea either making a TV show. No, Fast and Furious
is right, making the punchline for that.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Enter it for your chance to win one thousand dollars
sportsse dot com family.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
Like Fast and Furious is making a TV show because
Vin Diesel's like, oh, our fans love it and need more.
I'm like, no, no, we don't need more fat we have
enough movies.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
More like he likes making more money, and so this
is good. If it's a good TV show, I will
be watching. Can't wait for it because those movies are
just fun. Matt Waldron gonna be on the moundain night
four forty first pitch against the Milwaukee Brewers. They are
in Milwaukee and they stayed at a hanted hotel last night,
which was very fun to think about. But Brandon's sport
Sprout Sprouts is going to be the pitcher for the

(18:34):
Milwaukee Brewers. He's six foot three this year five eight
seven e raoh and two in his starts. This is
a big series for the Padres because Milwaukee is one
of those teams that is definitely postseason bound, right and
we say that forty games end of the season. The
thought process is their postseason bound because the Brewers are
very very good now. I don't know if everyone noticed

(18:54):
what happened over the last twenty four hours or so,
but if you're taking a look at the n West standings, Sammy.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
Yeah, Dodgers playing terrible baseball right now.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Padres our first place in the NL West as we speak.
Which did anyone have that on the big go card
come May twelfth of twenty twenty six, I know I
did not.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
No, it's uh well, this is why the next two
weeks are huge because the Dodgers are not running away
with the division. They're given the Patres a lot of
opportunities despite the Padres if he plays so far in
May and the Dodgers really are are not making them
pay well.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Dodgers have lost three straight games. It was only three
days ago that the Padres are two games back in
the division. As of today, Padres are up. They're twenty
four and sixteen. Dodgers are twenty four and seventeen. Padres
with a very tough stretch of games to hopefully expand
that out a little bit. This is kind of the
blood in the water conversation, right. We talked so much
about last year's fourteen and three start and how crucial

(19:48):
that was for the Padres to end up getting to
the postseason because they were a pretty average baseball team
after that fourteen and three start.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Right now, the Dodgers are going through a slump.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Can you build out some sort of cushion if the
Padres get really hot over the next two weeks and
the Dodgers continue to stay where they're at, well, you're
looking at something that could potentially lead to an August conversation,
which we would all love.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
That you need to win the series against the Dodgers
next week. Because the Mookie Betts came back yesterday. The Dodgers'
pitching staff is not on point. Roki Osaki has been.
He had an okay start last night, but not very good.
Blake Snell's first start back got ate up by the Braves,
which I don't know why the Dodgers would bring Blake
Snell back against maybe the best team in baseball in
the Atlanta Braves are one of the best hitting staffs

(20:29):
in all baseball. But the Dodgers got some issues right now,
and you kind of feel like the Dodgers are going
to figure it out Alec Thomas they just acquire, which
I think was actually a great move from them getting
them from the Diamondbacks, which I kind of surprised the
Diamondbacks gave up on him. Alec Thomas is a really
good player. But this is a big next couple of
weeks because you're playing playoff competition Brewers, Mariners, Dodgers, Phillies.

(20:51):
This is an important tretcher for the Pods.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Bers twenty two and sixteen Padres twenty four and sixteen.
Ber has been very good at home this year as well.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
To see what happens tonight.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
To get more into it, let's talk with our Padres
insider Kevin Acy, coming up next here on San Diego
Sports seven sixty live on Myheart Radio.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
App The Padres Record with Kevin Acey.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
He's brought to you by Hamul Casino Resort a Players.
This is all yours, Hamul Casino Resort, the Players Place.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
San Diego Sports seven sixty.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Kevin Acy is our Podres insider Ben Fletcher, Samuel Long
with you till two o'clock. But Kevin is here while
he's in Milwaukee, but he's here on the show.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
keV, how are you fantastic going to meet uber.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
And going to meet an Uber. So we'll try to
make this snappy. We got a lot to get to, keV.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
We got you.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
Got all the time in the world. You gotta drive
to the ballpark in Milwaukee, so all time in the world.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Do you guys?

Speaker 5 (21:44):
Go ahead?

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Okay, We'll take our time because we got to get
to a lot here. We got to get to a
potential return for Lucas Giolito. We got to get to
Fernando Tazis Junior walking out on a press conference.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
We got to get to the Padres winning a.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Couple games over a four game series where they only
had fourteen hits, which was oppressive. And it's a big
stretch of game for the Padres, who now find themselves
in first place.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
So, keV, we got a lot to get to.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
But I do want to start here because it feels
like the Padres got new owners, and then the new
owners were in Mexico City with the team, and then
now we haven't heard anything for a while. Is anything
going on? Our office is getting packed up at Peco Park.
What's happening?

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Oh no, uh no, guys, all right, I was getting
into the Uber Now I'm not distracted anymore. Okay, yeah, no, listen,
we weren't going to hear from them until the end
of June or the beginning of June or something like that,
the owners meetings where they'll be ratified or you know,

(22:42):
the rest of the owners will almost certainly confirm them.
That's going to be the beginning of June, and then
it'll take a few weeks, I guess for the paperwork
to close. So yeah, that's what we're waiting for.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
Do you kind of sense a heightened sense around the team,
considering like they get a chance over the next weeks
to play the Brewers, Mariners, all teams in the Championship Series,
and the Dodgers, or is this just kind of another
another week for the Pods.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
You know a little bit of both, Like no, there,
you don't fance anything, and they're never going to let
us see that down a team that where Manny Machado
is the you know, the kind of the current that
flows through Manny. You're not going to hear that they're
hyped up for anything in May, June, July, August. But

(23:29):
the fact is they are going to be facing some
some good pitchers. They're gonna be facing some good teams
and more importantly, okay, it's not just another week.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Yes, sorry, your phone cut out. What were you saying?

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Oh, that's Milwaukee. It can't possibly be me. Guys, that
the on the flip side of like Manny Machado and
the whole you know, no, we're not going to get
worked up about anything happening this early in the season.
They've got to hit better, so they know that, and
so yeah, let mean a little bit of like, hey,
let's go, let's get this together, because it ain't gonna
last like this without hitting better.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Right now, Matt Waldron, maybe his best appearance as a
Padre at least this season, came last time out and
they used an opener Bradually Rodriguez went first and then
Matt Waldron came in and was fantastic for five six innings. Today,
it looks like Matt Waldron's going to be the starter.

Speaker 4 (24:22):
Starter.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Do you think they implement an opener at all and
try to keep the good thing rolling?

Speaker 5 (24:27):
Brads of Rodriguez opening Matt Waldron's starter the same as
last time.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Okay, good to know ESPN has it rung.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
Shouldn't they starter? I should say? Sorry? Yeah, obviously, Brad
of Rodriguez, Opener bolt guy Matt Waldron.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
Yeah, is this presuming that with Gielito coming back, Waldron's
gonna get sent down after the start?

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Well, it's presuming that something's going to happen to Waldron
because he doesn't have any options. So I cannot imagine,
and I think the Padres anticipated that if Matt Waldron
is made available, that some team will claim him off
the waivers. A guy especially like let's say he goes
out today and again it's good. What is that is that?
Is that four innings one run? Is that five innings

(25:07):
two runs? Anything better than that? Or you know, even
even if he goes down and he gets rocked, is
that the team not going to take a chance on
a guy that has been shown because he can give
you a chance to win. So now what do they do?
Do they go to six starters? Kind of doesn't seem
like it, does you know, not a lot of off
games coming up, you know, getting into shape, Canning still

(25:29):
getting into shape. You don't want to push my team
too long? I mean Tode goes see sure doesn't seem
like will but yeah, big decision coming up and it
will center on that wall.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Then all right, keV.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Let's go back to Friday night, and I think there's
a lot of positives you could take from Saturday and Sunday.
Even though there wasn't a lot of hits, there were
a lot of timely hits on Saturday and Sunday, which
are very nice. But Friday night you have the situation
with Fernando Tatis Junior in right field, the ball goes
under his love little League home run, and then after
the game it's reported that he was not there for
the media session by the time the media got in.

(26:00):
Now do you feel any type of way about that?
Is there anything we should read into here?

Speaker 5 (26:05):
The only way I feel is that I'm going to
cut Fernando Tatis Junior's flag. Should he have been there? Sure? Okay,
but you know what, this isn't two thousand or two
thousand or twenty ten anymore. And Fernando Tatis Junior is
there ninety percent of the time, no matter what, and available,

(26:25):
and so look, it's been a really rough season by
his standards, awful, and that was a rough night and
he wasn't there, Okay, Yeah, I don't have an issue
with that. I have more of an issue with some
of the guys that either try to wait out the
media or don't show up on a regular basis. So, hey,

(26:51):
all the media r is going to us to the fans.
If the fans want to be upset because Fernando wasn't there,
that's that's okay. But I got to say that he
is usually there.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
What's the funny strategy you've seen, like back to your Chargers'
days covering the team, like guys hiding out in the
showers until everyone leaves, or what's the stay naked until
everyone leaves?

Speaker 1 (27:08):
What's the best strategy.

Speaker 5 (27:11):
In the dining room? So I got to say that
the road is a much better place to make sure
that you get players. There are fewer hiding places, but
you know, there is still the dining room. And you know,
there's only a few guys that really waited out. And
I won't say that every single time or every single
one of them is trying to avoid the media, but
some of them are. And it certainly is a little

(27:33):
little site benefits if they've taken off a long time
to eat. So yeah, it's a it can be a
cat and mouse game.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
Let's say that, how do you personally view like the
weekend and flush and I've been talking about kind of
hard to assess because you know, fourteen hits, but they
did go to and two and have found ways to
win without the stars. Do you look at as a
positive thing because you assume the stars are going to
get going? Or are you starting to get concerned that
this is what the team is?

Speaker 5 (27:59):
You know, forty games is not like a small small
maybe it's smallish, right, like it's one quarter of the
season basically, or sometime what in the second inning tonight
will be one.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
Quarter of the season.

Speaker 5 (28:11):
You know, like it's not small, it's it's concerning. It's
still smallish, So it's not worry some if you can
get the subtle differences there. I mean, I assume they're
that at least at some point for extended periods that
they're gonna they're all gonna get going. Will it be

(28:34):
at the same time, will it be at different times?
How much of a difference will it make? I mean,
but I I got to assume that this continues for
Merrill to a certain extent, where like he's being more
selected and getting on base and you know, even driving
the ball at times, and that you know, Tatis and
Machado for their different issues of not hitting that that

(28:56):
that picks up. We have to and certainly they have to.
They have to assume. And when I say that, I
don't mean they're not working, they're just sitting around waiting.
They're definitely working. But it look bottom line is it
just has.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
To Kevin, I sye, are Padres insider with us here
for a couple more minutes at least, keV, what's the
latest on Lucas Giolito? When can we expect to see
him on the big league mound?

Speaker 5 (29:20):
Gotta be, you know, off of his minor league deal
by Saturday. For all intentsive purposes, it's done that he'll
pitch this weekend in Seattle. I do not believe I
mean that he's going to join the team here. There's
not any reason to do that. That he'll join them
in Seattle. And who knows when that will be. I mean,

(29:40):
you don't want to just parade him around. And you know,
even though at that point they will have they'll wait
as long as they can because you never know what's
gonna happen. But they will have talked to Matt Waldron
or you know whoever it is, and outlined what the
situation is, but yeah, there's not any The plan before
he and what he went six indies and seventy something pitches.

(30:02):
He's ready to come, and the plan before that was
for him to start, and then the plan after that
was for him to start. Now they always say they
can change their mind, but that's what's going to happen.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
And no updates on Muscrover Paveta is still actively not throwing.

Speaker 5 (30:18):
You know, I didn't read today's injury report comes to
us on Mondays or Tuesdays, but I'm going to go
ahead and assume it still says active reast. I can
check it on my phone if you'd like.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
That's all right.

Speaker 5 (30:31):
That was the plan which I said, look, see these guys.
It will be news when when one of them plays catch,
when one of them does more than play frisbee or
run around the outfield trying to just stay in shape
and do some scratching and all that, it will be news.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
Right, All right, Well, keV enjoy it.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Don't go anywhere near the I think it's the Feaster Hotel,
the PFI s t e Er Hotel, because it's haunted
and we know that you're very susceptible to hauntings.

Speaker 5 (30:58):
I mean, who isn't really whether you know it or not.
I mean, come on, yeah, I am close to it.
I'm not at it. I would I would not do that.
Let's see. I just want to make sure guys. Oh yeah,
here we are continuing active rest and rehab for the
next several weeks. Cut and paste and no throwing.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
All right.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Thanks? Keva A.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Podrey's report with Kevin Acy. He is brought to you
by Hamoul Casino Resort. Hey players, this is all yours,
Hamul Casino Resort, the Players Place.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
I texted Kevin earlier today actually and asked him if
he was staying at that hotel, and he says, why
in the world would I do something like that? So
it's real, man, there's superstitions around that hotel.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
I go back to what I said yesterday. If if
this is such a big deal for people, then why
do teams keep staying there. Milwaukee's not some tiny city.

Speaker 2 (31:46):
I know it is weird, but it's always been the
place that's where they stay.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
And I know different notesels across the country.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Do these like hotels have contracts with the MLB. I
genuinely don't know.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
I truly don't know the answer to that as well.
I would yes, a lot of them do. And I
know year after year most players, the most teams stay
in the same place as a year after year. But
I mean, it's weird that Milwaukee is the stop that
has the haunted hotel.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
Like San Diego. Makes sense because it's connected. They walk
across from the hotel to the ballpark. That that that
makes sense, I think, though, don't some some teams stay
in like del mar.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
I don't know. I don't know the answer to that.
I would guess a lot of them stay at the Omni.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Remember remember when Mookie Betts and Jackson Meryl did the
podcast together. Ye, that pissed me off, and they were
in there were some place by the coat. I don't know.
Maybe the Dodgers in patters just to do other stuff
because you know, the obviously lived local All right.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Well, good stuff from keV there.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
I am curious, like what's happening with Feliciano and Kwanza
Jones right now? Like it feels like it was such
a big announcement.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
And then nothing.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Well, it is odd how.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
They I guess you have to wait for the rest
of the owners to approve the sale, but they are
the owners, but they're not.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
It's just odd how well they got accepted when you know,
presumably accepted, but they got you know, the silers to
sell to them during the season. So there's not a
lot you can do as an owner. The things that
the owner is gonna be able to do is aid
free agency in the offseason.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
And the trade deadline and the trade deadline, but it
is not that far away.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
The trade deadline isn't really where the owner's coming to
play as much, because you know, you can't just outbid everyone.
You have to have the prospects. Yeah, you could have
input if they were like give the okay to trade
a star player.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
But what I promise you want some who did not
come to the Padres without the final stamp of approval
from Peter side. Of course, you know what I mean,
Like they're gonna be involved in these decisions. So it's
just I'd like to see it happened sooner than later.
But I guess early June is the number, all right,
coming up next, long shots, I'm coming off a winner.
I don't know if everyone else is, but it was
pretty nice.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
I'm gonna take credit for it. Those damn caught out
of avalanche inside, so.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Start doing alt lines. They're undefeated right now. Listen to
me in the A five eight.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
It's working. It's working, real nice.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
It is San Diego Sports seven to sixty brand new
long shots on the other side, live on my Heart
Radio app all long shots plus that rud pick.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
That is exactly what I did.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
A five eight.

Speaker 5 (34:02):
Oo.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
I'm telling you A five eight. I'm in on your religion, man.
We're doing this thing from now until forever. Uh foury
four says Lebron won the Effort Trophy fourth time swept
on his career. Jordan only swept twice in the postseason.
Thank my Sixers for gifting the thunder mckek.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
Can we talk about how the Clippers in the Sixers,
just the oka Se dynasty, get rid of Jared McCain,
get rid of Shake gotas Alexander along with five first
round picks. Like what are these gms doing?

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Uh nine one three says Week one Chiefs twenty seven
to seven against the Broncos.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
I love to hear that A five eight.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
I've been on this for two years now, but Lebron
isn't going anywhere because the Lakers are going to traft
Bryce to complete the Holy Trinity. That will be the
last item the LA fanboys can use on his failing goats.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
I gotta say maybe with previous ownership, not with the
Walter group.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
A five eight Samy, you got a quick pick for
Toronto versus Medvedev.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
We didn't get it in It started at tell thirty five.
I would have said Medvedev in three sets, because although
he's coming off a grueling performance, he is just a
better player. But you know, the other guy beat Flavio
Coboli in the last set. So Iriante is a very
good tennis player.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
And the four I four has thoughts on me taking
three straight semesters of bowling in college. So thank you
for it for can't read that text on air though,
so appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
All right.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
It is San Diego Sports seven sixty.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
Every day around this time we do something called long shots,
where Sammy builds us out a lineup where we can
all win money.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Like I did last night.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Sammy smash you looking for some luck, want to win big.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
He was so money we don't even know what time
to take a shot. Say that's me and his manual
quit long shots. The all lines is the way to go.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
Man.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
All long shots. Me and A five eight work on
it every day together. We're best friends. When it comes
to all long shots shots. Sammy gives his long shots
and then I'll tell you what the allt long shots
are and we'll all win money together. Sammy where we.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Go however you want to bet my these are. I'm
just I'm just offering gifts up to the public, offering
up winners.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Don't worry saying it took some of the prophet put
it on brock Party to win MVP this year.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
See, that's just you're just you're just throwing it away.
You're literally throwing all the winnings, everything I've made for
you in.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
The trash five words? But what if I win?

Speaker 4 (36:12):
If you're not going to that's the problem. Go ahead,
Why would brock Party win MVP.

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Because he's the goat? Dude?

Speaker 4 (36:19):
At what?

Speaker 5 (36:21):
All?

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Right, We're heading to tennis because we have success when
we have tennis. Karen catch it off taking on Casper Rude.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
What's that name again?

Speaker 4 (36:33):
Karen catched it off? Okay, do you know how to
say it?

Speaker 3 (36:37):
No?

Speaker 4 (36:37):
I think you're right, Yeah, about to say okay, it's
like excuse you catch it off is two in one
against career against Casper now Rude has been playing well.
As we saw. He won his last set or his
last his last match against the lorenzem MESSETI we called
that on long shots. They've some of these players have

(36:58):
had a little trouble reach the final eight on the
clay courts. Remember, everyone's getting ready for Rolling Garrels. Rolling
Garrels is eleven days away, the big French Open. We're
also on the men's side. I think people smell a
little bit of blood in the water because of no
Carlos Alkarez. Now Janick Center is the favorite. Yanick Center
has been playing some of the best tennis of anybody
in the world. But you don't have alkaraz Djokovic not

(37:21):
playing his best tennis right now. If there's only one
guy that you have to take out, maybe this is
za Vereb's year, Maybe this is the local kid Taylor Fritzier.
There's a lot more opportunities on the clay court. I
do like in this game, though. I like Caspar Rude
in three sets. He's been protecting his serf very well.
Kashanov is a very talented tennis player, but Casper Rud's

(37:42):
and playing with a lot of confidence, a rising tennis
player in the game. I think it takes three sets
because Kashanov is a very talented player. But gimme Casper
Route in three sets in the Brazil BNL D Italia.
You like that flush? Love it all right? We're going
to the NHL Ducks Golden Eye. It's quack quack man.
These guys are these guys are making it a serious.

(38:03):
The Anaheim Ducks, who no one really gave much of
a chance, took on the Edmonton Oilers. People just thought
Edmonton was gonna mop the floor with them when Edmonton
had won each of the past four years against the Kings.
But this this this team is very talented. And now
all of a sudden they win Game four against the
against the Golden Knights, and the big question is mark

(38:25):
Stone gonna play? He's one?

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Is mark Stone gonna play?

Speaker 4 (38:28):
He is questionable? Oh, mark Stone missed Game four against
against the Anaheim Ducks for the gold Knights. He's questionable tonight.
Now it's a big winning percentage dip. When the Golden
Knights have Mark Stone, they win at a point six
one seven clip. When they don't have mark Stone. They're
under five hundred now. Mitch Marner coming over from Toronto

(38:50):
has been excellent so far. He has done more than
he ever did it Toronto in the playoffs so far
with the Golden Knights. But I do think Anaheim gets
tonight plus one point thirty. Mark Stone maybe not playing
in this game or getting a lot of value. Ever
since McTavish came back for the Ducks, he missed games
two and three. The power play wasn't there. The power
play started off zero to eleven in this series. They

(39:12):
got two goals in that game four. McTavish was a
big reason why I like the Ducks plus one point
thirty on the money line tonight to upset the Golden
Knights in Las Vegas. A right, Let's head of the
association Timberwolves Spurs now a lot going into this game
because of the Wemby call. He's not being ejected after
elbowing Nas reed Draymond Green on a podcast calling it

(39:35):
out nine and a half points is a lot. Nine
and a half is a lot, And look, I get
the whole narrative that San Antonio is probably gonna come
out pissed off. Feel like they lost that game when
they maybe should have won that game. It's at home,
but give me the Timberwlves plus nine and a half.
There is a narrative being kind of percolating throughout the

(39:57):
NBA that somehow the only reason this series is too
is because Wemby went out. Do I need to remind
people that they went into San Antonio one game one?
I know they got blown out in game two. I
think Minnesota. Look, I think Wemby has a big time performance.
But to Anthony Edwards point, it's actually something's easier to
play Wemby because of the way Minnesota is constituted. Rudy Gobert,

(40:19):
Jayden McDaniels, there's a lot of They have a lot
of bigs, Nasriy to throw at Wenbin Yamba giving nine
and a half points plus nine and a half. I
think the flip side of this is Minnesota is gonna
be a little irked that everyone's disrespecting them. I would
assume we're playing some fantastic ball right now. Anthony Edwards
finally getting healthy, and Dylan Harper and Aaron Fox are
both questionable tonight. I do think they play with their

(40:40):
nursing some injuries gave me the Timberwolves plus nine and
a half on the road in San Antonio tonight.

Speaker 5 (40:46):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Here's the alt lines. You take Casper Rude straight up,
you take Minnesota to cover ten and a half points,
and you take the Ducks at plus one and a half.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
That's the all line.

Speaker 5 (40:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
If you want to be going to be soft and
take them plus one and a half.

Speaker 1 (41:01):
That's fine. Soft is winning, Sammy, first.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
Off in hockey. Let me. I know you're not a
big NHL fan. Mm hmm, okay, going plus one and
a half is not smart. Tell you why because if
this is at the end of the game, they're down
a goal, then they're gonna empty the net. The only
way the plus one and a half works is if
it goes to overtime and they lose.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
How about this little fun fact? Are you ready for
a fun fact, Sammy? You like fun facts, Let's hear it.
Derek Togerson just texted me. He said, nine former San
Diego goals are playing for Anaheim during this run.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
Do stall goalie played for the Goals now pulled up
and playing excellent, by the way in net for the
Anaheim Ducks. That the Ducks are Ducks are kind of
fun like. They got a nice blend of veteran talent
with young Everyone thought they were going in the tank
when they traded Trevor Zegres to the Flyers.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
Quack quack, that's what I saw, man. I've always said,
quack quack. I'm all about that quack life in San
Diego Sports seven sixty. We want our number two coming
up next, Russell Dickerson tickets on the line, don't go anywhere.
