Speaker 1 (00:00):
We will start from the beginning. Ladies and gentlemen, I've
been Fletcher.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
That's Sammy Long, the contact us by Radio the Podre's
head up to Seattle for the weekend before next week's
showdown with the Dodgers at Petco. We're keeping an eye
on the PGA Championship.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Just stay clear of John Rahm.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
And the NFL schedule is out And in case you
were wondering, it all starts in one hundred and seventeen days.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Certainly take their football seriously, don't they.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Plus I want winners under six and a half in Buffalo,
in Montreal.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
I'm just trying to understand why.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Over six and a half in Anaheim in Vegas?

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Why are you doing this?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Trying ear any money for college?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
And then I like caspa route to win in two
sets at the atp of Rome over Dardaria.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
You figured it out, didn't you. You cracked the code.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Getting the weekend starting inside the studios up San Diego
Sports seven sixty in the Zone with Fletcher and Sammy.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Saday Sports seven sixty. It's our number two here on
the Zone. Ben Fletcher, Sammy Long with you till two o'clock.
Sammy We'll keep the party rolling after that from two
to three, going along with Sammy Schaeffer and Sleewall will
be your afternoon drive home all right. Coming up tomorrow
on seven sixty, we got SDFC. They are hosting FC
Cincinnati at Snapdragon Stadium. You can buy tickets at San

(01:12):
Diego fc dot com. First twenty thousand fans in the
gates at Snapdragon Stadium are getting a free Honders Dryer bobblehead.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
It is San Diego Sports seven sixty.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
We got a lot to get to this hour, including
Steve Hartman, including Russell Dickerson tickets, and including some Padres talk.
So we really didn't get to talk about yesterday's game
all that much.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
We were on air right after the.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Game finished up, so we got a little bit of
a conversation then. But I do think it's wildly frustrating
to watch this team at times, and I think the
fan base is starting to trickle over a little bit
where it is fun, man, and there's a lot of
excitement when they have these late inning heroic comebacks from
Nick Costeanos or from Gavin holy Sheets, but it's not
the guys who need to be doing it and We've

(01:54):
been banging on this drum since five weeks before the
season started, when we really started to talk about if
the Padres want to get to where they need to
go for this to be considered a success, it needs
to be Fernando. It needs to be Manny, it needs
to be Xander, it needs to be Merril, and so far,
Xander's living up to his role, which is the most
shocking thing of everything that's happened this year. It's wildly

(02:15):
frustrating watching this offense at times, even in games where
they end up winning, it's because of late inning heroics,
not from the main dudes. And I thought Kevin Acy
put it beautifully the other day when he said the
Gavin Sheets thing is supposed to be a bonus. Some
of the pitching they've gotten is supposed to be a bonus.
The tried and true method for this Padres team needs
to come from the guys who are tried and true

(02:35):
and making a ton of money, and so far it
hasn't been happening. I'm curious to see what it looks
like for the next two weeks when they're playing some really,
really good baseball teams, and to see how they stack
up to them, because this Padres team right now, their
record would show you they are a very very good
baseball team. The way they've won some games this year
would show you they're a very good baseball team. Their
numbers offensively would show you they are a bottom of

(02:56):
the barrel bad baseball team. So what's not gonna is
when they're facing against the Dodgers, when they're facing against
the Mariners, when they're facing with the Phillies, who, by
the way, back up to five hundred, Kyle Schwarberz hit
a million million home runs. This is a huge week
and a half for the Padres. It's a huge nine
game home stand starting on Monday with the Dodgers, and
we're gonna learn a lot about this team over the

(03:16):
next fourteen days.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I promise you that.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
It's concerning. They have a minus three run differential, isn't
that wild?

Speaker 4 (03:24):
And one of the best records in baseball with a
minus three run differential.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
I think that's it tells a lot of the story
that they're You look at it two ways. It's impressive
that they're able to shut some of these teams down
and win one nothing or two to one, or teams
like that or games like that where it's you know,
not blowouts, but they're also winning on the margins in
when you step up and you play teams like the Brewers,
like the Mariners this weekend, like the Dodgers, like the

(03:49):
A's next week. The A's are not a walkover team.
They's been playing damn good baseball. And then you get
to the Phillies and teams like that. You can't fake
your way through a game. You can do that against
the Angel You can do that against you know, a
lot of teams in Major League Baseball, but you hit
it on the head. It's it's simply about the guys
have to hit. And it gets hard coming on here

(04:10):
every day saying the same thing, but it's the truth
because they don't hit. I mean Fernance tatist, Many Machado
and Jackson Merrill. So I get we can we can
blame Griffin Canning, and we can get after Matt Walt
and all we want and guys like that. But to
what Kevin Acey said, Gavin Sheets is supposed to be
an added bonus. Nick Castilla is supposed to be added bonus.

(04:32):
Do we realize over the last week that if Costianos
and Gavin Sheets didn't have ninth inning heroics on Sunday
and on Tuesday. This team's on a massive losing streak.
So it's it's nice that they're the cardiac kids to
an extent and that they never go away. That's a
good trait, but it's concerning that every game they're putting
themselves in these spots where they have to pull some

(04:53):
improbable comeback late, and I think it's starting to get
exposed when they play these good teams. What my most
is the most disappointing part about yesterday was you have
a bad Game one, you were supposed to lose. Game two,
you have a great comeback win unbelievable Cities on Cloud nine,
and then it looked like the Brewers were the ones

(05:13):
who are pissed off and came out and wanted to
show that they were the better team, and the Padres
were like, whoa, it's yours. Did you see the highlight yesterday?
It's like, it doesn't matter when you lose series, right,
and it takes away.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
That was the first road series loss of the season,
which I had to double check that because it kind
of surprised me a little bit.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
But that's the thing about this team.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
They're winning a lot of games, and at a certain
point it feels weird complaining about winning. But the eyeball
test is not passing right now, so we'll see. I
don't want to be negative on the Padres, I really don't,
but I need them to show me something. And it
can't be Manny Machado hitting in the one hundreds like that.
That's future. That's pretty pitiful as of right now. In fact,
Sammy I thought had the line of the day yesterday
in all of sports media, for sure, anyone covering the

(05:53):
Padres when he said they played one good inning against
the Milwaukee Brewers over three games, and that one good
inning was enough for one win. That's all it was
good for all right? They got the Marriagor's Rivalry weekend,
big weekend. If you're not gonna get up for this,
I don't know what you're getting up for. It is
the Vetter Cup, which does it does make a large
donation of charity every single year. That's great, that's a positive,
and that's what this is all about. That doesn't mean

(06:15):
I'm not gonna make fun of it.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Eddie Veers show up in Seattle, where I guarantee you.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
I guarantee you will be in Seattle and he'll probably
be wearing like a split Padres Mariners uniform, because that's
a classic thing to do.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
But I think it's outrageous to call this rivalry week.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Well, it's it's so frustating the MLB. It's like the
Mariners and Potters are not a rival. The Dodgers playing
playing the Angels, that's not that's not a rivalry just
because of geographic location.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
That's because I wouldn't even put the Angels as like
the third rival to the Dodgers, like, if anything, For
most of my lifetime, the Dodgers with the biggest rivals
with the Giants, and.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
You could argue you still are. It depends on who
you ask.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
But then the Padres over the last few years have
made enough of a stink to where all of a
sudden it's become this rivalry.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
But I wouldn't say it's the rivalry, you know what
I mean?

Speaker 3 (07:00):
No, because no one.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Mariner.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I always go back to this. I lived in Seattle
for three years.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
I have a friends Giants playing this weekend. If it's
rivalry weekend.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
I have friends who are massive Mariner fans because I
live there for few years. They have never once said, man,
I hate the Patres I.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Hates are playing the A's though it's the Bay Bridge rivalry.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Like, that's not the MLB is such a patch Like
they need to take a page out of the NFL
and listen. They can't do this because it's one hundred
and sixty two games versus seventeen the NFL. Why the
NFL schedule release matters. They're putting Chief bills on Thanksgiving.
They're putting Niners rams of the Shanahan and McVeigh rivalry
Week one Giants Cowboys. They do an amazing job of

(07:40):
marketing individual matchups within a season in Major League Baseball
with these dumb bobblehead nights, and shit.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Just feels forced. It really does.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
All right, So let's get to the big three here
of our number two. I want to get to this
MMA card on Netflix. We'll do that coming up next.
Before we get to Steve Hartman, Sammy Smash.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Is here.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Ready to go back to the office and knock the
socks off your friends.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
I mean, co workers. It's time for the top stories
of the day. Three three All right, Seammy, where are
we going?

Speaker 3 (08:12):
What player tonight in the NBA has the most pressure
on them.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
It would be hard not to say Anthony Edwards. But
I'm not gonna say Anthony Edwards. I am gonna say
Kate Cunningham. And he has the pressure just of the
fact that I think Kate Cunningham has done such a
great job of building this brand around himself, of putting himself,
forcing himself into the conversation of the next era of
the NBA. I love watching Kate Cunningham play basketball. I

(08:38):
would love to see him in a final series against
OKC because I don't know how much.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
They would be able to throw at him.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
So I as a fan of Kate Cunningham, I personally
am putting pressure on him tonight in the NBA postseason.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Fair I think it's I would say, no, just why,
I know what you're saying. I get what you're saying.
And Kate, I think to your point.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
He's elevated himself this postseason.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
So if if Kate is is what we all think
he can be, I see your point. I just think
Cad will get a pass this year because of the
lack of talent around him. That's my only thing. Sure,
But I see I see what you're saying, because Kate,
we are going to are holding him to a level
of they went on in the playoffs last year, got
a pass first year they were there, and then this
year after they came back down three to one, I

(09:28):
think they kind of saved themselves. But to your point,
James Harden, this whole, James Harden, this whole James Harden.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Are we past this with James Harden?

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Because he made a couple of key shots down the stretch,
so everyone's like, oh, James Harden's proving he's he's he's
all good. Now. Him and Donovan Mitchell have massive pressure
a because they kind of got bailed out in that game.
And they know damn well they got bailed out in
that game. With no foul call on Jared Allen, they
would have sent sar Thompson in the free throw line.
They would have won the game they ended up winning.

(09:59):
It is what it is. Credit to him for a
nine point comeback in the fourth quarter. Donovan Mitchell, wherever
it's been, has always gotten to pass. Utah, he got
a pass and he's got to pass so far in Cleveland,
whether it be because Garland he was there, was hurt
Mobley didn't show up. Now he got James Harden, and
both of these guys a Mitchell and Harden haven't really
ever won anything and played well in big moments. So

(10:22):
I think it's really on both of them, like are
you gonna allow this thing to go back to Detroit
in a one game scenario because if that happens, they
might lose a series.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
So not Anthony Edwards at all.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
Anthony Edwards, who talked smack earlier this week about Victor Wembanyama.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
I would put with them more of the pressure on
Minnesota Brass because I.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Think it's around Edwards with somebody else, yes, because.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
I think I think Anthony Edwards, to be fair to
Anthony Edwards, has kind of been the good soldier and
hasn't made a stink by the fact that they've never
gotten him a second star and has just went out
and balled out and his cap has been the Western
Conference fine, And yet we all we hear about is
you know, like when when is it a Joe Burrow

(11:05):
situation where he's tired of playing for an organization that
can't surround him with talent. I wonder if we're gonna
get to that soon if they get if they get
pushed out all right, what was so what is the
biggest overreaction you've heard with the schedule release? So some
of the ones throw it out there. The Bears have
the hardest schedule of anyone, so a lot of people
are predicting they'll miss the postseason. Look if through ESPN

(11:27):
right now, the Bengals only play four teams with a
winning record. People are saying they're gonna return the AFC
Championship game. What what was your biggest takeaway from the
schedule release last night?

Speaker 4 (11:36):
It was Joe Dreams earlier today saying the Chargers are
gonna win the Super Bowl this year.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
That's not happening.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
He's also not the only one you had an early
Andrew Hawkins Yeah, said that Chargers rams are gonna be
the super Bow.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
This is when their Chargers win win every year. In
the offseason schedules.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
They had a really really cute YouTube video. It was Haylo.
It was full of nostalgia. That was a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Right, I've seen stuff about the Bengals saying because of
how easy their schedule is, they're gonna just ride right
on through the AFC Championship game. Excuse me, what if
the Bengals done defensively to make this thing a little
bit better? And what have they done to Joe Burrow's
ankles to make them steel plate it so we.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Won't get hurt again.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
That's kind of the problems I have here is people
just look at schedules, and I do the same thing.
I start circling games, crossing out games that I think
my team is going to win and lose. So much
is undecided at this point. Saying the Chicago Bears is
just going to miss the postseason after what a magical
year they had a year ago with only assuming that
Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson are going to continue to
get better together is crazy to me. Like Caleb Williams

(12:30):
at times last year was playing like a top five quarterback.
To think he can't do that again is a little
bit outrageous. So today is going to be full of overreactions.
We will have a couple, I'm sure. But the Chargers
love for the Super Bowl is crazy to me, and
the Bears hate for missing the postseason is also crazy
to me.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
I think it told you a lot a I think
not to talk about the Chiefs, but I think they
believe Patrick Robbin's gonna be healthy because they schedule two
primetime games for the Chiefs right off the JOMP in
weeks one and two, So I think that tells you
something about his health. I certainly don't think the NFL
would have done that had he not been ready. I'm
with you on the Bears. Could we see a little regression, yeah,

(13:09):
because I think the Lions are back in the picture. Minnesota.
I don't think it's necessarily a playoff team, but Kyler
Murray will make that offense a lot better. I'm kind
of in and out on Green Bay. They have one
of the easiest schedules in the entire league, so they'll
probably be in the postseason, but I'm not sure if
I'm believing in them right with the strength of schedule. Also,
we have to take into account this is off records

(13:30):
last year. So I mean, you take a team, like
a perfect sample is the Raiders. The Raiders will be
on team schedules and people go, oh, they didn't have
a very good record last year at the Giants Giants
had two wins. We all expect the Giants and the
Raiders to at least be a lot better than what
they were last year. I think the Bengals type is
a little bit overblown. I would still favor the Ravens
in that division. I'm with you. I mean, Dexter Lawrence

(13:52):
was a good ad, But did anyone really think they
were one defensive tackle away from being attention? I know
they got a couple of edge rushers the one out
of A and M. But I do think it's gonna
be a very congested AFC NFC play picture in the
Broncos first six games. This is one of my takeaways.
The Broncos first six games are the Chiefs, the Jags,

(14:14):
the Rams, the Niners, the Chargers, in the Seahawks, everyone.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
In the postseason last year.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
Yeah, outside of the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
So that's right outside of the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Through the first six weeks, we're gonna figure out if
Denver's legit because a lot of people are saying that
they're gonna build upon last year. I think they're gonna
have a little coming back to earth because they won
so many one score games against subpark competition. This is
what happens when you're playing a first play schedule Denver.
The NFL did not do Denver any favors with their.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
Schedule, so you're ready for this with Denver.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
If so, the Chiefs were not a playoff team last year,
but obviously there's a lot of external situations with that, Like,
so consider the Chiefs just for this a playoff team
from a year ago, because we think they're gonna be
really tough this year. The Broncos would be the first
team in NFL history to have their first six games
of the season. Again, it's playoff teams from the year before,
first team in NFL history to have this tough if

(15:04):
an opening schedule.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Especially the people talk about homes Injery boat Nick's coming
off the ankle, so they weren't like, let's just save
Denver a little bit and throw them some Cardinals in Miami.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
No crazy all right?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Tomorrow at six o'clock, Netflix dips their toe into the
world of MMA. Nate Diaz is going to be on
the card, Francis and Ganu is going to be on
the card, and it's headlined by Gina Carano and Ronda Rowsy.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Let's get into the fights.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Coming up next San Diego Sports seven sixty live on
iHeart Radio app. But coming up tomorrow night six o'clock
Netflix is dipping their toes into the MMA waters. They
actually put together a hell of a card. If this
was circa two thousand and nineteen, I bet you this
would be an amazing I'd say.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
This is like twenty sixteen, this would be the biggest
thing happening.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
I think you're absolutely right, because Francis and Ganu is
a killer Ronda Rowsey at one point killer Nate Diaz,
one of my favorite fighters ever to watch, and they're
all on this Netflix promotion. The way in's happened today,
it sounds like everything is gonna go off without a hitch.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Netflix will be booted up.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Ready to go with my house at six o'clock tomorrow
to watch all of this. Is there any smart money?
Everyone's pretty big favorites, aren't they.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
The Perry and Diaz fight is pretty even. Di has
a plus one seventy dog, Mike Perry's minus two hundred.
They both fought Jake Paul, who's putting this on, so
that's what people are kind of gauging this on. I
would I'm surprised that Di has a plus one seventy
dog in this fight. He's been in a lot bigger
fights than Mike Perry. Look Mike Perry's got some pretty

(16:34):
fast hands. He showed that when he boxed Jake Paul.
But I don't know there's some value there with plus
plus one seventy with a DAZ. I'm kind of surprised that.
I'm sure this line will get bet kind of more
to even money because he has a much more popular
fire than Mike Perry. But I'm kind of I like
the value there.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
All right.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
And then the Ronda Rowsey is a huge favorite against
Gina Carno Francis. Yeah, six six to one is a
huge favorite as well. I'm curious how Netflix does this
because I think whenever anybody new enters the chat, you
like to see little wrinkles in the broadcast. Like, I
don't know who's going to be the broadcasters at this event,
to be quite honest, that this is a.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Good job of like poaching the best ones from other networks.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
They do, and they always have, and so I like
they've I've always thought they've done a really good job
with NFL games that they've had, bringing in Ky Adams,
bringing in other people to be part of the broadcast.
I'm curious to see what they do from that aspect.
And then just the way a UFC event generally flows
to see if they have any tweaks to it, because
what is Netflix going to do to differentiate itself a
little bit? Because I think that it's been run one

(17:34):
way for so long, and that's really of course, there's
other options out there. You can watch Bellator, you can
watch Pride back when it was around, you can watch
the CFL. But at this point, this is probably the
most hype around a non UFC event we've ever gotten.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Well, and I'm curious, what does bigger numbers. I'd expect
the Netflix show to do bigger numbers, even though the
UFC's on Paramount Plus.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
But like a Fight Night this weekend in the regular UFC,
I don't it's right.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Now, it's not and it's not a it's not a
big fight. I'm curiously. We go back to last weekend,
you have Strickland Shamaia, controversial fight, Strickland wins a split decision,
big upset, and the diehard UFC fans are always going
to be watching those those events, just like diehard boxing fans.
But the UFC's problem has been that they're lacking star

(18:21):
power right now. They they they went to this era
where it was Nate Diaz, and it was Ronda Rousey,
Connor McGregor, Israel Adasania. There were so many big names
in the UFC that it was really marketable. And I
think now you're kind of looking for that next guy.
Is it Illiot's Apoia? In terms of just a draw,
usually American fighters sell better in the United States, so

(18:41):
you look at Sugar Shan O'Malley, but he hasn't quite
lived up to it in terms of just straight wins.
Sean Strickland is a very polarizing guy. You're either a
Sean Strickland fan or you kind of hate Sean Strickland,
so he can kind of play that narrative. But I'm
curious what does better because this is all, you know,
not current active fighters, but its biggest you know a
lot of stars. People know Roder Rousey is, people know

(19:03):
who Nate Diaz is, or Francis and Ganu. The casual
sports fan who may not be turning in tuning in
to every MMA event, So I'm curious what the numbers are.
I bet it does big numbers. I mean, Jake Paul,
Mike Tyson. A lot of people thought that fight was rigged,
and it did what one hundred million people? One hundred
and fifty who was crazy something like that?

Speaker 4 (19:21):
So, uh yeah, I don't I'm trying to find the
numbers for that the UFC event, and I'm not seeing anything.
All I'm seeing is the press conference that had like
two hundred and ten thousand viewers on YouTube. I don't
know the Paramount plus is under the same regulations to
release numbers that TV networks are, but I would be
curious to see what the numbers are on this.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
Seventh sixos has shot out Stockton.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
Shout out to th real dude. I love Nadeas. He's
been where I grew up in Mercelle. He is a
huge favorite in merced People love Nadeas.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
They love his brother, fan friendly fighters.

Speaker 4 (19:49):
Actually, I went and watched his brother in a boxing
event in Fresno one time. The place was packed with
people who were salamming drinks, Sammy. One of the drunkest
events I've ever been at. I can't wait for this.
Nate Diaz is gonna come in Stone off his ass.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
He's gonna fight. Nate Diaz does not quit easily. It's
gonna take a lot.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Is getting his ass kicked by Leon Edwards in the
first four rounds and then the final minute when Leon
Edwards won his run, he just kits him with the
right hand and he lost. But he was the most
popular fighter on the card that night because he's just
these ideas.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Na Diaz is a badass man and I can't wait
to watch him fight again. That Nate Diaz is the
one getting me to this card. If I'm being completely honest.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
It's probably the best fight on the car.

Speaker 4 (20:28):
Like I'm excited to watch Francis and Ghanu because we
got such a limited time of him in the UFC
and he was knocking everyone else.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Disappointing that him and Dana White's relationship is so fracture
because he could have been a guy that could have
done fight that never really materialized.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Yeah, I wonder if there's gonna be a viewership drop
off once it gets to the actual main event in
this because I'll be honest, the Ronda Rousey Gina Carano
fights the one I care the least about of those three.
I think Rowsey's gonna dominate her, so do I All right,
we'll take a break here. Steve Hartman coming up on
the other side at San Diego Sports seven sixty. You're
listening live on iHeart Radio app. But first Russell Dickerson
tickets called right now eight seven seven seven six seven

(21:04):
four seven sixty.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
If you'd like to win, let's go with call number
six today.

Speaker 4 (21:07):
Happy Friday, everybody win yourself some tickets to go see
Russell Dickerson.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
At Gallagher Square live on Myheart Radio.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Went and Steve, it's the second major on the golf calendar.
I'm sure you are locked into what's going on out
of Aaron Mink golf Course as we had.

Speaker 5 (21:22):
I am watching. I've been how about this guys. I
actually I was driving my son, Garrett's car. He has
serious so I was listening to the PGA Tour channel.
So I literally been either listening or watching this entire
second round since it started early this morning.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
It's been a fun second round and this golf course
is eating these guys alive, which I kind of love
to watch.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
Well, you know. Scotty Schaffler started of the day. The
weather was rough this morning. He had three bogies in
the first four holes. He recovered, ended up just one
over on the day. But he said that I don't
know if you used the word absurd or some derogatory
terms about pin placement. Oh yeah, got on these treacherous greens. Yeah,

(22:12):
and so anyway, Yeah, I mean, you know you don't
want to see a major golf championship. We had it
a couple of years ago. I think Xander Shopley was
what twenty one under the singer Ega Championship.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
I would take this all a long steve because you
got the first place guy pot Geater right now is
five under par.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
The cut's going to be at two over par most likely.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
So you're talking about the last guy to make it
into the cut and the guy in first place or
within seven strokes of each other. What more could you
possibly want in a major situation. This is as congested
a leaderboard as we've gotten all year, with a million
people at three and two under. This is setting up
for an incredibly exciting weekend out of Aeronymic in Pennsylvania.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Yeah, well give him credit. I mean the way they
set up this course. As you know, they redid this
course a few years ago. They ripped out all the trees.
So you know, I was like, no trees, no problem,
you can bomb the ball. I mean, what is de'shambo
now ken over par? Yeah, you know, obviously we had
a brutal day yesterday. He said, at least gonna looks
like he'll make the cut, But I mean it is

(23:13):
uh yeah, I mean, you know, the way they can
set up these courses. Plus the weather played a big
part of it yesterday and today. Now supposed to heat
up over the weekend, but it's only going to make
those greens that much slicker. And so yeah, I can't wait.
Always love major golf championships, can't wait to lock in
this weekend.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Steve Hartman, I'm curious the Laker man himself will Lebron
James and Oust raise you back in the Laker uniform
next year.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
My guess is more likely no than yes, although people
are telling me the opposite. Look again, it's all about
how much is he willing to play for and is
he really going to agree to the idea being third
third man on the totem pole, especially after you know,
having to help carry this team through the first round

(24:02):
of the playoffs, which he did and played well. I mean, look,
they were never gonna beat Okac ever, even when they
were at full strength. Okase he was blowing him out
all season long. So I mean that's just a different
level of team. But I'm sure that he walks away
from this postseason saying, look, I can still be a
guy you build your team around. I'm not some second

(24:22):
or third fiddle. And so if the Lakers come and say, look,
here's eighteen million dollars one year deal to be the
third option, he may say the hell with that, man,
I'm a free agent. Let me see if there's any
team out there that's willing to give me an opportunity.
Now there's also the idea like, what more do you
have to play for unless you want to give it

(24:44):
a real run at a championship? But is any team
that's in true contention for a championship gonna want to
sign on Lebron James and change the dynamic of their team.
So I don't know the answer to these questions, but
my guess, my guess is he has played his last
game as a Laker.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Steve Arman joining us here on San Diego Sports seven sixty. Steve,
what about Austin Reeves.

Speaker 5 (25:10):
Well, that's an even more important question, guys, because again,
he's gonna have he has a player option he's going
to apt out of. It's only eighteen million dollars and
obviously his market value is way beyond that. I think
it's just a matter of what other teams are willing
to offer. I mean, how much of a market is
there for Austin Reeves? You know, I think that. You know, look,
if I was his agent, I would test the water

(25:31):
and see see what's out there. If someone is willing
to pay him in access of forty million dollars a
year and the Lakers are coming in at like twenty
eight million dollars a year, then I have to seriously
think about it. And again, it's not like you'd be
leaving a team that is knocking on the door of
a championship. I mean, the Lakers are not that. I mean,

(25:52):
what do you do with Ruy Hatchamura? The guy show
what fifty two fifty three percent threes in the postseason?
He was there safe in the postseason to keep him
in games with his three point shit, he's a walkaway
free aging and re signed Rui at Tomura. How much
money you gonna give him? So these are all questions
the Lakers are going to have to get. And there

(26:12):
there is also the biggest question of all Ken Lucas
stay healthy. This is a guy that has missed two
hundred and fifty seven games in his NBA career. Is
that a kind of guy you really want to build
your future around. Remember the reason they ditched Anthony Davis
as the guy they were going to build their future round,

(26:33):
as he couldn't stay healthy, and you make the trade
and bring in another guy who can't stay healthy. So
you know, these are all questions moving forward for the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Do you think it's the winner of if the Spurs
advanced Senator or on Sunday, just the winner of the
Spurs OKAC series is gonna win the whole thing? Or
either the Knicks or someone in the East have a shot.

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Look, let's remember OKC season, all right. People say, well,
san Antonio beat them, Mike three out of four tens season.
This is an okay S team that started the year
twenty four and one, and then they basically took off
the middle part of the season and throughout the last
two games of the year when they played all they
were reserves. They were twenty one and two down the stretch.

(27:19):
No one's close to OKAC, Nobody, not san Antonio, not
the Knicks, not Cleveland, not Detroit, None of these teams
are in the same vicinity, so it really doesn't matter.
OKAC is going to win back to back championships, and
then the only question is, as they are built to
really ride out the rest of this decade, how many
championships is this team going to win?

Speaker 4 (27:42):
Steve Harbin joining us on San Diego Sports seven sixties, Steve,
I think we're in the neighborhood of one hundred and
seventeen days something like that till the NFL season begins.
Schedule release was yesterday, we find out that the Seattle
Seahawks and the New England Patriots a Super.

Speaker 1 (27:56):
Bowl rematch for Game number one.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
How much of this do you think is the NFL
trying to say, Hey, Mike Rabel's been in so much
off season drama with Diana Roussini, let's get him to
the press conference before anyone else.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Guys, this is such a ridiculous story, isn't it. I mean,
I can't I can't imagine because you know, and I
know the TMZ and you know page six, all these
they're just sitting on stuff. They're not going to release
it all at once, you know, they're just until somebody
addresses this situation, until Rabel actually talks about having an

(28:35):
extra marital affair, like like he's the only coach that's
had an extra marital affair with Diana Rossini, who's also
having an extra marial until they actually come clean. TMC's
like squid that we'll just we'll just trickle lot more
photos over the last at least six years that these
two have been hooking up. And the fact that the
NFL is, I don't know, wishing this go away. How

(28:58):
about the fact that, like Dave port Portant is, you know,
the huge Patriots fan, says he's gonna file legal action
against teams that use any reference in a joking matter
about this. And then which team steps up and does it?
The Chargers. Chargers of all teams step up makes some
joke reference and the release of their promotional video for

(29:20):
their upcoming schedule made some kind of joking reference to
this affair. So important I had said in advance, anybody tries,
I will file legal charges against them. They will, They'll
see me in court. So I mean the fact that
the NFL just is, I don't know, wishing this thing
is going to go away. It's not. And so they're
going to have to address it, and obviously the Patriots

(29:41):
are not going to do anything here. Here's the whole
thing about it. You know as well as I do, guys,
the Patriots last year were fraud They were not nearly
the team and they got completely exposed in their blowout
loss to the to the Seahawks. And would they have
beaten the Broncos if Nix had played. I mean, you know,
so that's that team is staring at eight and nine,

(30:03):
regardless of the situation of Rabel with the actual real
schedule this year, that's where they are. They're in eight nine,
nine eighteen. They're not gonna make the playoffs next year.
So to me, it's just a bunch about nothing. I
just do not understand why the NFL comes out makes
a statement. Either he's suspended, he's not make a statement.
We really don't care if coaches or anybody else as

(30:25):
extra marital affairs take us in do something and stop
letting this linger.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Hey, I find it hilarious that this is like the
ninth biggest scandal that's rocked the Patriots over the last
two decades. But we're just still running with it. And
you're right, the photos keep coming, Steve. I hate to
do this, but we have to actually cut you short today.
I sincerely do apologize, but.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
We got to take a break. We have to get out.
We're running out of time.

Speaker 5 (30:49):
I'm just getting started out, all right, bonus time. I
want bonus time down the side. I need more time
with you guys.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
You know what, next week we're going to break the
segment before way too early.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
That way we can go a little longer with you
next week. Is that okay?

Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yes, sir, that is okay.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
Because I had a long conversation with rich Ornberger about
the two of you yesterday. I was going to share
some thoughts. Well, we'll wait till next week.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
We'll wait till next week.

Speaker 5 (31:10):
One.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
It's ease inter appreciate you.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
I love you guys.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
We love you too.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
I'd Steve Harman here on San Diego Sports seven sixty.
We will close this thing. I'll get you ready for
the sports weekend. On the other side of San Diego
Sports seven sixty live.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
On my Heart Radio app well nine pm. He dropped
not one, not two, but three album.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Right, but I was told there was a whole YouTube
live stream leading up to it where the entirety of
the first album, Iceman, which is the one that everyone
knew was coming played in its entirety, and then at
the end of that he held up three what are
they called, like USB thumb drives. It's a it's not
just one album, it's three albums. Yeah, have you listened
to everything so far?

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Every song on every album? I really we had a
listening for forty five songs, yeah, forty four. We had
a we had a last night. My boys came out.
We had a listening party. We started at nine o'clock.
I think it ended at about midnight.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Is it good?

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Iceman's fantastic? Ice The Iceman album is great, made of
honor pretty. I like the album. It's kind of dance music,
so it's more for like bars and clubs. Like he
definitely made it. It's gonna be huge in terms of
DJ's playing it.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Kiki Domy.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
And then he's the other one I'm blaming on the
name Habati Hbati. That one there's.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
Which I guess means sweetheart in whatever language it is.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
That one wasn't my favorite. That was definitely it's for
the ladies, right, yeah, I mean classic on it was
really good, but Iceman, Iceman delivered Iceman. There are some
that that's that album top to bottom.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Recently, I've not listened to a single song yet. Maybe
this weekend.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
Yeah, I listened to Run to Atlanta with Future My
Future are back together.

Speaker 4 (32:48):
They're boys now, Okay, I have not listened to a
single second of it. I will try to this weekend
in some part. Are any of our listeners listening to Drake?
I'm genuinely curious. If you're on YouTuber on the text
line right now, let us know we got a couple
of minutes left.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
They're listening to seven zero, start.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
Your message with team or on the YouTube chat at
San Diego Sports seven sixty. I am genuinely curious because
it's not something that I necessarily care about, but maybe
it is something that I.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
Every want to rap music.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
So this would the equivalent would be like Morgan wall
and drops it off right.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
I'm not listening to more in a while.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
I will listen to every single song, probably have a
listening party like Sammy does for Drake.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Good for you, Proud of you.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
Parties are fun, man with your with your guys, and
everyone's at a different take.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
I'm sure there was only one or two alcoholic beverages drink.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
All right, before we close this thing out, we had
a busy weekend man rivalry weekend in Major League Baseball.
Padres taking on the MS Game one is not going
to be easy for the San Diego Padres.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
The picture for the Mariners, who I just had in
front of me and now just completely disappeared, pitched really
well against the Padres the first time they played against
each other, and numbers are all completely gone, so we'll
see how they fare against them this time around.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
But it's it's a big couple of weeks for the Padres.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Emerson Hancock, Yes, Emerson Hancock, and the first time he
pitched against the Padres, I can't remember exactly what it was,
but he's two three and one on the season so
far with an ERA sub three. He's been terrific for
the Mariners and what's been a really weird starts the
season for them, kind of mirroring the Padres a little bit.
The starting rotation has been excellent for the Mariners. Their
offense has not come to life yet. Like cal Rawley,

(34:21):
who they just put on the IL was literally should
have been the al MVP a year ago, hasn't been
able to hit at all this year. So we'll see
these two teams going up against each other, two offenses
that have a lot of potential, but nothing's really happened
with them yet so far this year. Which one's gonna
win out this weekend? But then next week it all begins.
Next week a nine game homestand starting on Monday with

(34:43):
the Doyers from up in LA. That's gonna be must
watch TV at Peck.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
That would be I hope the Padres are not sleepwalking
this weekend with their eyes set on the Dodgers, because
the Dodgers starting to heat up when of the last
two games against the Giants, you can't just get away
this weekending is a very good Mariner team that despite
no Cal Rawley, this is a very deep lineup and
can easily get after the Potter's the Potter's bet to
bring it this weekend.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
Before we hand the keys over to Sammy, I will
leave you all with this. If you're gonna watch some
golf at one point in your life and you're not
a golf in, I highly recommend tounting in this weekend
because these golfers are just like us. This weekend, everyone's
pissed off at the course. People are having a miserable
time with it. This is a fun watch, man. If
you want to see some grown men who are all
millionaires losing their minds because a golf course is too hard,

(35:32):
turn on golf this weekend.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Friend's already bragging about John Ram because John Romney picked
up the Masters.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Now he's making a run. So John Ram is charging.
By the way, the two picks I gave out earlier
this week on Sammy Show both gonna miss the cut?

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Called that too.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Sure you don't talk about that listen.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
But somehow I have money on Alex Smally to win
the whole tournament.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
What the hell? Alex Smally Alex Smalley, Who.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
I thought I was placing a bet on him to
make the cut? Turns out it's a bet on him
to win the tournament. He's currently in second place, one
shot off the lead, already in the clubhouse. So have
a great weekend, everybody. Thank you for being here this week.
Shout out to Joe Dreams, go follow him.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Everybody really enjoyed meeting Joe Dreams today.

Speaker 4 (36:09):
That great We'll see on Monday, San Diego Sports seven
sixty live on my Heart Radio app

The belief is simple: fearless dialogue can transform fear into courage, and courage into change. When fear dominates the headlines, this show digs deeper.
