Speaker 1 (00:00):
Fright, ladies and gentlemen. We will start from the beginning.
I'm Ben Fletcher, that's Sammy Long.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's how it starts. Tonight, the Podreys look to even
the series with the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Hey guys, the new boss is watching this.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
DFC heads up to the Pacific Northwest to face the
Seattle Sounders and are the Lakers on the verge of vacation?

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Plus I won't win it?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Plus three and a half give me the Cats? Hi
kid can all star the Lakers in thunder. I like
the over to twelve and a half, That's what I like.
I like the under five and a half in the
Flyers and Hurricanes.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I'm the dude. It's amazing what you've done with such
a modest buddy.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
The weekend begins here inside the San Diego Sports seven
sixty studios in the Zone with fletching Sammy.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah, let's get it going on a Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
What's happening?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
Everybody's Ben Fletcher, Sam wickt z up two o'clock today.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Sammy will keep the party rolling. After that, go.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Along with Sammy, Schaeffer and Slee Walk will be your
drive home.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
We got a busy couple of hours for you.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
All right, So we are gonna start with the Padres said,
we will get to something I've never I don't think
I've ever seen before in sports, with what happened in
that Lakers game last night. We'll talk some SDFC in
our number two with a guy who I do believe
we are the good luck charm of, and that would
be Marcus Ingbertson, who's a forward on SDFC. We had
him on the show last week. He scored two goals

(01:18):
over the weekend. We're having him on the show this week.
And they got a big match up in Seattle against
the Sounders coming up tomorrow at seven o'clock, which, of
course you will hear right here on San Diego Sports
seven sixty. So Sammy is passed because the Lakers are
down to nothing. Sammy also wanted to be part of
that conglomerate that surrounded the referee team last night after
the Lakers game.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yes, but Sammy.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Is here, and are you ready to have a great show.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
I am the best show, I am, I am read.
I don't know if you know the best show, the
best show that we can have.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I mean, Steve Harton's gonna be here. So it's gonna
be a pretty good show.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
That does make us feel better when Steve's here.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
All right, let's get started with the Padres. So last
night they lose. They lose two to one. The offense
got four hits a week to do a whole show
on the offense, and I think would be fair in
place if Fernando Tazis Junior did have two of the
four hits for the San Diego Padres. Miguel and har
has been mister consistent all year long. He got another hit.
But you look at the Padres lineup, and the offense

(02:12):
was just a disaster. In fact, if I was gonna
go Steve Hartman, it'd be fletch. It's an unmitigated disaster,
fire everyone.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
That's not really where I'm at today. I actually I would.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Like to kind of strike a similar tone to what
our pal Kevin Acy did in the San Diego Union
Tribune today, because watching that game last night, yes, the
offense was a disaster, but two things happened last night.
I thought Michael King was tremendous. I thought he was
absolutely tremendous. That was as good as he's looked in
the last two seasons. And if he doesn't come out
of that game. I think he was only like eighty

(02:43):
five pitches. But we learned now that after the season
that he had last year, they want to be a
little more load managy with Michael King, and that's fine
for right now, I guess. So they were pulling him
after the six No matter what, if he stays in
that game, I think it's a different ballgame.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Thing number two.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Can he hit?

Speaker 1 (02:59):
No King cannot hit.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
But I did think he pitched tremendously last night, which
is all you're really asking Michael King to do.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Thing number two.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
If for Nado Tazis Junior is playing right field, and
I know I'm the guy who's always like asking for
Tazis to play more infield, but if he's playing right
field last night, the second run does not score for
the Saint Louis Cardinals. Nick Castianos got one of the
worst jumps and had one of the worst slides after
one of the worst runs to a baseball I've ever
seen in my life. I think it was a routine
pop up to right field that for Nando Tazis Junior
probably could have jogged under. Costeanos did not make the play,

(03:30):
so that's really the game, and sometimes it's as simple
as that in baseball. Now, with all that being said,
much like I'm sure the conversation we're going to have
surrounding the Lakers officiating is a part of it, but
not the whole story. The Padres lost the game because
the offense sucked. But those two things are also true
about last night's game. And I think if you're looking
to draw encouragement from anywhere, it's that Michael King looked
like an ace last night. And once the leash gets

(03:51):
taken off him and he's allowed to go seven innings
like he easily could have gone eight last night with
the amount of pitches he'd thrown, that's a different story
in that ball game last night. So the Cardinals are good,
give him credit. The Cardinals pitcher last night was great
or the offense was terrible for the Padres. Not really
sure which one falls in, but that's what I'd take
away from last night's game, Sammy.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
I take away the fact that if I was aj Preller,
I would be seething right now. I would be I
would be livid because I don't know what this man
has to do. He can give you the entire supporting cast,
everyone like, yes, the Padres pitching is was fantastic. It
was great seeing Michael King be what we know he
can be. But if I'm the pitching staff of the Padres,

(04:30):
I'm walking over these guys going, hey, what do you
want us to do? We are literally handing you so
many games and these guys can't hit. And I don't
know where this starts with. I mean, Michael King, if
you would have said.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
They just came off two games, when they scored fifteen
runs in two.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Days against the Giants, when they step up and play
tougher competition, these guys can't hit, I mean yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
A big part of the reason I went the direction
I went was because I knew Sammy was going here,
like four hits is pathetic, and we can all agree
with that.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
It's just I it's hard watching this team because the
pitching staff deserves unbelievable marks.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
A plus is around the board.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Honestly, the bullpen is unbelievable, one of the best in baseball,
if not the best. And then you're sitting there with
the starters and if you would have told me that
Nick Povetta and Joe Musk would not have pitched so
far this year, and Nick Povetto would be out for
an extended portion of time, and the scores that the
Potteries are holding these teams too with Michael King and
I like what I saw from Canning on the last

(05:29):
time out. I think Buehler has been a nice surprise
for this team. Is he the Walker Bueller that we
knew with the Dodgers. No, but he's been very serviceable.
I think Randy Vaskis know the last couple of times
gotten roughed up, but overall had a very good season.
It's just it's frustrat It's hard to watch because these guys.
If you would have told anyone last night the Potters
hold the Cardinals to two runs at Petco Park, you go, oh,

(05:51):
they win the game. I mean, I'm not going to
overreact to one game, but it is like, it's one
thing to beat the Giants, it's another thing that when
you see the Cardinals come in here. The Cubs, the
White Sox technically aren't a good team, but took us
to the Padres the Diamondbacks they split with the one
series win. I think you point to this year and go,
that's a good series win. Is the Mariners and the

(06:13):
marriage haven't been very good. It's just off projection of
what they can be. I think people should be frustrated.
It's like, I don't know what this pitching staff has
to do to keep them in ball games and these
guys can't hit.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Yeah, Ultimately, I don't want to sound like a one
trick pony here, but I will go back to something
I said yesterday. With these Padres, it's weird to me
that they don't have the same energy at home that
we've seen on the road this year, Like it happened
again last night. And I don't know if it's just
the way they start a baseball game, but they haven't
hit well off as starting pitchers all year, most of
their successes coming later in later innings. But it's bizarre

(06:44):
to me that back at home, in one of the
best environments in all of baseball, they struggle so much
and you could see it on their faces. And Michael
King was tremendous last night. You think that would give
the offense a little bit of a boost. It is
frustrating to see the way that they show up at
home versus the way they sometimes show up on the road.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
And I don't I don't fully understand what that is.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
I truly don't.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
It's also the Curse of San Diego National TV game.
You knew it was gonna be a bor fest. That's
exactly what it was. It feels like that happened.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
It felt like it was an opportunity for the potteries
to prove how good they were. And I think we
come out of last night because there were a lot
more people watching than just you pew us in San Diego.
I think people come away and go, Okay.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Well, tonight's on Apple TV, so you got another crack
at it. Yeah, with that other crack on that national
All right, it's San Diego Sports seven sixty.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
We got a lot to get to today.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
I don't know if everyone saw the Lakers game last
night or what happened directly after the Lakers game, but
that was kind of mind blowing. I don't want it
in the Big three, Sammy, let's do it after. We're
gonna give its own time because it's something I haven't
really seen before.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
But let's get to the Big three here.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
Of our number one and if you want to watch
the show, a couple of ways for you to do
it YouTube at San Diego Sports seven sixty Twitter at
fletch and Sammy find us, subscribe to us, follow us,

Speaker 1 (07:52):

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Ready to go back to the office and knock that
socks off your friends.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I mean co workers.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
Time for about top stories of the day.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Three three.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Would you happen to be in the market for a
thousand dollars?

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Sammy?

Speaker 5 (08:10):
I would love a thousand.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Do you know you can win one thousand dollars just
by listening to San Diego Sports sixteen. Yes, sir, We're
gonna give you a keyword coming up here in just
a little bit.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
All you gotta do is.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Take that keyword listening, go over to SPORTSSD dot com,
put the keyword in there, and you may win one
thousand dollars.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Sammy, Where are we going?

Speaker 5 (08:25):
Tyler? Happy Friday? Everybody? Happy Friday to you. Tild up tight.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
All right, let's go to Uh there's so many stories today,
a little overwhelm.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Let's start with the NFL though.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
So the NFL schedule release date per Adam Schefter as
of an hour ago May fourteen.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
I'm always gett excited for the schedule release.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Can really kind of see what schedules are backloaded with
schedules are front loaded, So the Cowboys and Lions are
always playing on Thanksgiving. The Chiefs are apparently trying to
be a staple on Christmas. Do we like overall though,
that holidays that there are certain teams that have a
staple game every season.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
I wish the holidays schedule could be I truly do like.
I think for Thanksgiving and for Christmas, you get two
weeks before Thanksgiving you get to decide what the Thanksgiving
games are.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
You get two weeks before Christmas you get to.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Decide what the Christmas games are, because when you think
about it, those are both a little bit later in
the season.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
You could put just and it could be a blanket statement.

Speaker 4 (09:16):
Whatever game has the biggest playoff implication in Thanksgiving week
is gonna be the nighttime game on Thanksgiving. Whatever game
has the biggest playoff implication game come Christmas, they get
the night time slot on Christmas Eve or wherever they
want to go. I think that they need to be
flexible schedules. I'm fine if you want to leave the
Cowboys there. I don't think the NFL would ever move them.
It's nice that Detroit is relevant once again, so we

(09:37):
know we're gonna see those two teams, but I do
wish it was a flexible holiday schedule.

Speaker 5 (09:42):
I'm one hundred percent with you.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
I think that especially Christmas, like Thanksgiving to that end,
we always see the Lions, always see the Cowboys, kind
of tradition, you know, wake up with.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
The Lion game, you get the Cowboy game.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
With of course, the Cowboys can be playing the biggest
brand in the NFL, and frankly it's not even really close,
so they would be playing on the primetime game draws unbelievable.
Chiefs Cowboys had like fifty five million viewers last year,
which is just you know, blows numbers away.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
But I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
I've always wanted them to do this with the second
half of the year with just primetime games.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
Yeah, I wish it would be a two week out.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
You schedule the game and you flex the game, and
I know that they get into travel logistics and guys
want to know when they're playing. But like on Christmas
last year, they thought the Chiefs would be good.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
The Chiefs weren't.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
So the Chiefs Bronco game at night didn't have a
lot of implications. You had the Cowboys and Commanders who
were already out of the postseason, and the Vikings and Lions,
who I believe the Lions were technically still alive, but
they had like a three percent chance to get in,
so there wasn't a lot at stake.

Speaker 5 (10:46):
It's still drew big numbers.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
But I do think with the Holiday games, I wish
they would wait and kind of make it a special
event and make sure that the games.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
Really do matter. All right, let's head to let's head
to college basketball.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
But the NBA Draft. We have the NBA Draft lottery
this weekend. We'll get into that a little bit later.
But Darren Peterson widely expected to be in the conversation
for the number one pick. A lot of people think
he will go too after aj Debonsta. So Darren Peterson
got crushed this year at Kansas for missing a lot
of games. He missed a large portion of the season.
He revealed he started taking creatine. Okay, started taking creatine

(11:20):
when he got to Kansas. He missed time because of
cramping at KU. He highlighted a certain experience of where
he took too much. He said, quote, I thought I
was going to die. He went he went to the
Kansas trainers begged him to call the ambulance. So because
of creating, they were he was sitting out games because

(11:41):
he was scared of cramping.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
He told the acronym CYA no means cover your ass. Yeah,
this feels like a little bit of covering your ass
from Peterson.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
Look, it's a good excuse. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
I would assume we have multiple people listening in the
audience right now that have taken create in some form
or fashion. It's not a drug, it is you can
buy it pretty much anywhere. Creatine is easy, man. I mean,
creatine is really a really really strong cup of coffee.
There's actually a ton of health benefits to creaty and
you can help improve your brain operations after a lack

(12:15):
of sleep. It can help you get ready for a workout.
It can help your muscles recover faster from a workout.
But this very much feels like Peterson going and saying, Hey,
NBA teams, I'm not a bad teammate, I'm not a
lazy worker. I'm a hard worker who had a bad
reaction to creatine, who my cusher out in the studio
could easily get some some creatine later on today and

(12:38):
be absolutely fine.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
This is for those who didn't follow the story along
the year he got crushed a for Kansas fans and
aprons college basketball fans, as he might very well have
been the best player in college basketball. You could debate
that Devons to Boozer, I would say he was. I mean,
in terms of pure scorer, he is the best. And
the amount of games he missed was a problem. It's

(13:01):
affecting his NBA draft stock because a lot of people
thought he was the surefire number one pick, and it
kind of you get the feeling that debonsta now is
the number one pick. It does feel like he's This
is his agent trying to get out in front of it.
I do feel bad for Peterson a little bit because
I don't think all of the games he missed was intentional,
like he was hurt a lot of the games. The
game that that kind of did him in was there.

(13:22):
Kansas was taking on number one Arizona at the time,
and he was scratched ten minutes for the game started
and he was out there warming up and they didn't
really give a reason. He said he wasn't feeling well.
And so we'll see if it affects his NBA draft stock.
I think at the end of the day, NBA teams
are going to bank on his just athleticism and talent
over over his you know, availability.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
But we will see le squeeze one more.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Can we do the Connor McGregor one?

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Yes, so Connor McGregor.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Dana White confirms that Jim Row he was on Jim
Rome Show, Jim Roum kind of hinted that is this
the end of Connor McGregor?

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Is he done?

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Dana White confirms that Connor McGregor will be fighting at
some point this summer, not on the White House card,
but sometime later this summer. A who would we like
to see him fight? Number one? And number two? Are
we excited to see him back in the octagon?

Speaker 4 (14:06):
I saw rumors of him and Max Holloway, and I
would like that. I don't know how great of a
fight it would be. I think it would be a
really name grabby great s talking lead up to the fight,
and I think you can make it for the BMF belt.
They don't necessarily have to be at the same weight,
but it would still work out. I personally that is
my vote. I think it gets a ton of eyeballs.
I think the trash talking beforehand would be incredible. Unfortunately,

(14:28):
we're past the point where it seems like Michael Chandler
would be even interested in doing another fight with Connor McGregor,
Which sucks for Michael Chandler because he basically put his
career on hold to fight Connor McGregor again, and then
it never came to be and Michael Chandler's done now,
he's moved on to a different part of his life.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
But I think.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
McGregor Holloway is probably the only one that Connor would
accept because it's gonna make the most money and it
makes a lot of sense for Max, who's on his
way out to take that as one of his last fights.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
I think so too.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
And they fought before, and it.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Would be It's a fun, all action fight. There's not
a lot of wrestling. It's they're gonna be standing up, exchanging,
which is what people want to see. People have thrown
out Charles Olivera. That wouldn't be fun. I mean, he's
been out of the octagon for years now. I believe
the last time he fought was twenty twenty one against
Cowboy Serroni.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Holloway or Olivera's.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Gonna take him to the ground, and it's gonna be
a boring fight and people are gonna be disappointed that
they paid for the pay per view because it probably
will end or maybe not pay per view, but aar
Mount plus maybe Heara Mount plus. You know, Hori masballs
been thrown out there. He's kind of on the way out.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
Old.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Look, it's always fun when Connor McGregor fights, like everyone's
gonna watch. It's gonna be a big event. I don't
know how effective he's going to be. He's gotten up
there in age. He hasn't fought in the octagon. It's
been ten years since he was dominating the octagon.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Naki saw Jake kill Jillen Hall in that one movie Roadhouse.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
It does feel like the UFC is again grasping, really
grasping for the stars, and there's no one that's a
bigger star than Connor McGregor. It'll do good numbers, but
I don't think that Connor McGregor is getting back in
the title picture in any way.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
Class Who are you betting on Gregor Holloway even money?

Speaker 3 (16:02):
Oh my heart, McGregor Holloway probably actually to uh to win.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
I think so too, all right, At San Diego Sports.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Seven sixty coming up on the other side, something I
don't think I've ever seen in a basketball game. We'll
talk about it next live on my Heart radio app.
Text line is open seven zero four seven zero. Start
your message with the word team. Our buddy from the
six one five says, you know what I had for breakfast?

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Creatine?

Speaker 4 (16:25):
Do you know what I had for lunch? Creatine? Don't
bs a BS or that is directed.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
It was a little it's a little.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Well, first off, if you're like, so, why wouldn't you
be scared about cramping? Now? I like Darren Peterson, But
so it just goes away because you're not taking creatine.
I mean, why would that's why would that make NBA
teams your excuse?

Speaker 5 (16:44):
I want to pick you.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
It's a little c ya. Six one nine says my
good friend from high school. It took creatine in twelfth
grade and got a kidney stone after a month. Ooh,
that ain't normal, uh, six one nine. But I'm sorry
about your friend who had a kidney stone. Can you
imagine anything worse than a kidney stone?

Speaker 5 (16:59):
I never had one. It's brutal.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
Yeah, I know people who've had them. They sound awful.
I'm still gonna eat a lot of steak, though, and
I'm not gonna stop.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
Is that what crosses it?

Speaker 1 (17:07):
Red meat is supposed to be like part of what
can cause.

Speaker 5 (17:09):
It isn't it?

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Isn't it excess dairy too? I truth truthfully don't know
a whole lot.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
I know a couple of people who've gotten him, and
one of them said that it was because of the
amount of red meat he eats.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
I eat a lot of red meat. I also eat
a lot of cheese.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
So maybe I'm on the fast track for a kidney
stone at some point in my life. But regardless of that,
that's years away. I'll worry about that when the time comes.
I don't take creatine, so I'm safe from that. It
is San Diego Sports seven sixty. My name is Ben Fletcher.
That's semi long, but your first time trying us out.
Take off your shoes, stay a while, come on in,
have a cocktail. We'd love to be friends with you

(17:44):
on a daily basis. We do this every day from
Newton too. All right, we will get to the Lakers
game and the drama that ensued after the Lakers game,
but quick shout out to Kate Cunningham. We have all
these conversations about who's going to be the next face
of the league. We have all these conversations about what's
gonna happen once Lebron and Steph leave.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Kate Cunningham is easy to root for.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Man.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
If you're looking for a young guy to invest in
in the NBA right now, watch the way Kate Cunningham
plays basketball. I don't think he left the court last night.
They go up two zero on the Cavs. They also
screwed up long shots, but we'll forgive him for that.
But Kate Cunningham, the way he plays basketball, man, he
is a Tasmanian devil out there. He is a clutch
time scorer. I think he played six or seven minutes

(18:22):
more than everybody else on his team last night, had
the best point differential by far. Kate Cunningham is a
tremendous watch. If you haven't watched any Pistons basketball recently,
I'd recommend suiting him just for.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Him and Kate Cunningham has made The Pistons are a
solid team that have a lot of talent. They don't
have a lot of number two and three stars on
the team. Jalen Duran's a really good player. I don't know,
he's in number two on a championship winning team. Tobias
Harris was a very good player when he was playing
with Philly and Kate Cunningham. Like great players make ok

(18:56):
players better around them, and Tobias Harris this series and
then towards the end of that Magic series has totally
revitalized career because Kate Cunningham is setting him up. Dennis
Jenkins kind of becoming a breakout star for them, Jalen Turnt, Yeah,
Kate Cunningham is making a statement, while has Donovan.

Speaker 5 (19:12):
Mitchell and James Harden.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
James Harden has eleven turnovers through the first two games
compared to nine field goals made. I mean, how do
you even describe that? I mean, they brought you there
to be the closer alongside Donovan Mitchell and get them
over the hump, and yet it's just Evan Mobley had
one rebound, I mean literally one rebound in the game.
I don't know how that how that's possible. You're you're

(19:36):
a big and you're not physical. That's the Cavs problem.
They are not a physical team. Detroit is and they
play with that kind of age that a lot of
teams play with and in the NBA playoffs, when the
when the whistle gets tighter, it's uh, you're allowed to
play a little bit more.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
You see what happens.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
Speaking of the whistle, that was the high line of
conversation last night surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers and the
Oklahomasad Thunder. So oka See swept Phoenix in their first
series so far. They're up to nothing on the Los
Angeles Lakers. Their remain undefeated this postseason. Okasee was winning
this game from soup to nuts. They win one twenty
five to one to oh seven was the final score.

(20:13):
Shae Gilgris Alexander, by the way, still hasn't looked great
in either of the two first games against the Los
Angeles Lakers, but what happened in this game was fascinating.
So there was a moment who was the guy who
fouled but didn't foul? Austin Reeves, Shae, it was Shae
Okay with the elbow, Yeah, Shae, it was Shaye Okay.
So after the game, Austin Reeves singles out one particular
referee in Sammy, you can probably go a little bit

(20:35):
deeper on this than I can. But Austin Reeves goes
up to one single referee, and the entire Lakers team,
pretty much every player, including Lebron James, who at this
point was already in a zip up, surrounds Austin Reeves
in this one ref and it looks like Austin Reeves
wants to get physical, wants to like actually get in
his face and have almost a major league baseball umpire

(20:56):
with a major league manager back and forth with him.
And I don't I think I've ever seen anything like
this before. After the game, it is a full on surround.
Get ready, something may go down.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
I know we're runn up against it. Somebody we can
get in to on the other side. But I want
to preface this. The Lakers lost the game because the
Lakers aren't as talent as Oklahoma City. Correct the run
of the third quarter, Shay was out because he actually
had four fouls. You got guys like Jared McCain and
Isaiah Joe just killing the Lakers. I mean, the bench
of the Lakers is not even comparable to the bench

(21:29):
of the Thunder and that's why they lost the game.
But I don't like to be this guy. But the
officiating was pretty brutal last night.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
It was.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
The Lakers are gonna get clowned by a lot of
people because they lost. It sounds like they're sore losers
and everything. But my problem with it is this, if
you're gonna let them be physical, which is fine. I
like watching that kind of basketball. The way the Thunder play.
They play a physical brand of defense. Lou dort Is
is I mean up, you know, up in people's business, fouling, Like,
if you're gonna have that, you got to call it

(22:00):
the other way. And I mean Reeves gets his elbow
ripped back. I understand why he was pissed, you know,
because SGA's been in that. Lebron got not to the
floor two to three times, no foul call, I mean
it was. It's just I don't like when narratives get
made that like the Thunder play great defense. So it's like,
the refs are human. This is not a rig situation.

(22:22):
It's not that they're making calls, but the refs are human.
They know that quote the Thunder play great defense. So
when the Thunder are mugging, it's all that's fine. But
when the Lakers don't quote play great defense. When the
Lakers reciprocrate that you're seeing Chet, you're seeing SGA, and
these guys throw their body around, and it's just it was.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
It was pretty bad last night. It was pretty bad.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
Well, coming up on the other side, we'll hear from
JJ Reddick his postgame thoughts. I think there may be
a fine coming in for JJ. Will also get back
to the Padres, the loss that was last night, and
what they could do to bounce back in this series
against the Cards. All that coming up next San Diego
Sports seven sixty Live on my iHeart Radio app. I
do think he was probably safe. I don't think ESPN
had a good enough camera angle to determine whether or not.

Speaker 5 (23:03):
He was safe.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
He looked safe, though I think the foot got to
the back before the glove did.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
But I this is going to be one of the
rare times that I agree with replay review.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
I do not think that there was a definitive camera
angle to tell whether or not he was safe, but
he was probably safe. Costeanos in right field disaster, absolute disaster.

Speaker 5 (23:23):
I get it that.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
I would also like to see for Nando Tatzis junior
in the infield more. But costeanas in rightfield does not
get to that ball. Pretty much everyone else on the
padres would have gotten to that ball in the seventh inning.
I think it was win at the plate and hit
a little blooper in the right Costeanos do for it.
Missed it by mile Tatis. Probably would have been a
routine fly ball.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
All right.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
I want to get back to the Lakers in a second,
and we will. But today is your annual reminder that
the best job in football backup quarterback. Taylor Heinekee retires.
Taylor Heineke retires a very rich man. PJ Walker retires.
PJ Walker retires.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
A very rich man. Neither of them most likely f
CT true story.

Speaker 4 (24:05):
Chase Daniel made like two hundred thousand dollars per pass
attempt over his thirteen year career, which is outrageous being
a backup QB.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
Pretty nice, man. So if you have a kid who's
killing it in high school.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
Right, don't be great, just be good.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
You gotta be.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
Great in high school. You probably gotta start all four
years of college. But if you can get that back
up NFL quarterback job, man, you are set for about
ten years. Be good in the locker room. Make people laugh,
be a fan favorite. You are set for life.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
We got some big signings in the NFL today. We
got Juwan Jennings to Minnesota, Leice Hall getting shipped out
topping Kenneth Walker's deal three years, forty five point seventy
five million. Going back to the Jets. It's quite the
saga right there. He was gonna get traded for about
a year or two and out. Now he's the Jets.
I kind of gotta give a little credit.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
Reck You want to breeshall on the Chiefs for a
little bit.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
Yeah, yeah, No, he's a great player. He's unbelievable. I mean,
I like what the Jets are doing. Like you rarely
say that. But the Jets sign their running back. They
got Garrett Wilson, They draft Omar Cooper Junior, the receiver
from Indiana. Kennyan Sadiq the tight end from Morgan they get.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
And now it's a quarterback battle between Russell Wilson and
Gino Smith.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
And both of them are going to suck. So they're
picking Dante more Arschmanni next year. I mean, the Jets
actually might be doing something right for the first time
in a long time, to finally get some juice with
the franchise. They're kind of setting the table for the
quarterback versus what they've always done, trying to get the
quarterback first and then set the table in Usually that

(25:36):
doesn't work out well because the quarterback has very little help.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
Well, they need to because the Giants are gonna be
good for a little bit. It seems they got a
young core on that offense, young corps on the defense.
The Giants look like they're heading into an era where
they're gonna be pretty good. If you don't want to
be the laughing stock of your own stadium like you
have been for the majority of your.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Lives, Jets got to do something.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
Maybe the best Jets era since Sanchez ball back in
the day. All right, let's get to some JJ Redick
sound JJ Reddick after the game. I'm sure there's a
FedEx envelope on his desk today with a little bit
of a fine attached to it. But JJ Redick, head
coach the Lakers, talking about the officiating, let's hear from him.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
In two games?

Speaker 1 (26:12):
What I mean, have you seen him be like attacking
in downhill? And are you surprised he hasn't been able
to get to the line more?

Speaker 6 (26:19):
Well, it gets cloppered on that that one you know,
with Jalen Williams coming over trying to block the shot
when he spun based on one door that was in
that stretch as well. Lebron has the worst whistle of
any star player I've ever seen. I mean, I've been
with him two years now. You know there's again the
smaller guys, because they can be theatric they typically draw
more fouls, and the bigger players that are you know,

(26:42):
built like Lebron, it's hard for them. But he gets cloppered,
and he got cloppered again to night a bunch and
that's not like a new thing that's not specific to
this crew or you know this this series. He gets
fouled a lot that doesn't happen to meet. Guy gets
hit on the head more than an eight player I've
seen on drives and it rarely gets called.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
So the star whistle in football, we know is like
Tom Brady would get more rough in the passer calls
than just by anybody else. The star whistle in basketball
is very much James Harden in his MVP season, anytime
he got touched and threw up a shot, he was
getting foul calls. Shay Gilts Alexander's accused of it.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
Now.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Lebron James really never has gotten the star whistle over
his entire career. No, I've watched plenty of Lebron James
basketball over my lifetime. Hell, he's been in the NBA
basically since I was ten years old, when I was
the biggest NBA fan you'd ever see. Lebron James is
simply bigger than everybody. Post guys don't get called nearly
as much for little arm fouls as when a wing

(27:40):
shooter goes in and drives the paint and gets hit
on the arm. It's just kind of a fact, and
that's basketball for you. So I don't disagree with JJ Redick.
I am a little surprised that JJ Redick went back
to that. I mean, I guess given the events of
last night, it makes sense. But this is kind of
just a narrative that's already been pretty well played out,
and JJ Reddick seems like he just left himself open
for its twenty five thousand dollars fine when it probably

(28:01):
didn't need to be set.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
I mean, Lebron is a unique player in this sense
of he's been the face of the league for years
and he doesn't get calls. I mean, Brady's gotten rough
in pass calls. Mahomes gotten rough in the past, calls,
Josh Allen, I mean, star quarterbacks get looked after. Hell,
star quarterbacks including Mahomes have been like, we actually need
to stop this. We're getting looked after too much. It's

(28:23):
a little ridiculous. I Lebron, it's frustrating because and again,
the Lakers didn't lose the game last night because the referees,
but it is crazy when there was the continuation mom
when they were down twelve in the fourth quarter that
he hit. The shot was clearly a continuation. They didn't
call it. Lebron got knocked to the floor two to

(28:44):
three times early in that game, didn't get called. It
is like because Lebron is such a unique build of
human being and that he he's fast, he's twitchy, but
he's you know, carved out of a mountain six' six.'
nine it's like guys get to foul him and because
they're quote smaller, than him they get away. With it

(29:06):
and to, his, point now that was a direct Shot
at shay the theatric point that. He made it was
a complete shot At Shake. GILDAS alexander i do kind Of.
Like shaye they're the favorites toWin, the, title right they're
probably being, THE like, i mean all likely to Beating.
The lakers they're probably outside of Maybe the spurs giving
him around for, their money probably WIN the.

Speaker 5 (29:23):
NBA title, i mean we can't just pause.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
Real quick lebron has also been a flopper for a
lot of, his career but.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
At Least, With lebron lebron doesn't get the, calls, Though
right that's the, thing Is like lebron doesn't get calls
WHEREAS but i think Early on.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
I'm talking like five six years, ago Now like lebron
would flop so MUCH that i think rest would start
to go the. Other way and even when he did
get foult not necessarily give him the WHISTLE where i
don't see it as much ANYMORE because, I frankly i
think it's a little Harder for lebron to go to
the ground now so he doesn't flop. AS much i
think that it's just kind of left over because it's
a lot of the same officials who have been around
for a. Long time there is a little bit. Of,

(29:58):
Leftover oh lebron was kind of a foul merchant at
one point in.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
His.

Speaker 5 (30:01):
Career, too well they they've gotten.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
The narrative Him and luca obviously complain about fouls, a
lot and people don't. Like that but it is pretty
crazy through two playoff games going up against the. Defending
champs five free Throws For lebron james over.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Two games it.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
Is outrageous it is.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
PRETTY rough i do wonder Like.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
Watching shay, he's, Unbelievable right he's one of the best
players in.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
The league he's just a. GREAT player i don't see
him as potential faced. The, league now YOU and.

Speaker 4 (30:26):
I were talking about this before the show a, little
BIT and i have a. Hard time like last year
IN The, NBA finals i was easily rooting For The
indiana PACERS because I thought tyree's haliburt was a really
fun story the, WHOLE time i thought that they had
a lot going.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
For there they're easy to get.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
BEHIND him i didn't really feel the same Way About,
okay see but a lot of the country did because
This Was Okay okay sees back. To relevance they've built
this team the right way, through trades through smart front,
office work and so it was kind of easy to
Root For oka see. LAST year i do not have
the same feeling. This year they're not super fun. To
watch they are a defense minded powerhouse who they do

(31:01):
play very. Physical basketball it'll give him a lot of credit,
for THAT but i, look Around like piston's fun as hell.
To Watch hell lakers in the first round really fun.
To watch they're not really there. Right now, and okay
see is kind of business like the way they win,
basketball well and they're not very.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Cool either they're not very they don't have that cool
Like the warriors had this cool mistake. To Him the
lakers in the early two thousands had this cool mistake.
To him now some people are gonna. Disgrade that some
people think they're. Very cool, they're hip, you know they're
all rocking The met. Gallas stuff But like shaye is
just a great player and the foul merchant thing. They,

(31:38):
do now maybe it's just he's small so when he
gets hit he kind of flails him And ched holmer
and do flail. A lot it is kind of a
little outrageous when THE problem i think People Have oklahoma
city is this they play a physical brand, of basketball
which is which is a model for a lot of
teams that they need. To adopt but you also can't
call if you're gonna let them mug and then you're

(32:01):
not CALLING, the CHET. The sga some of these guys
that are just flailing their bodies every time they get in.
The lane people. Get frustrated and this Isn't just. Laker
fans it's people you know elsewhere that that it just
it feels a little like they're they're just getting to
the line left.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
And right, all right we NEED a w we need
A weekend w and we're hopefully going to get one
coming up on the other side right before long, SHOTS
though i have a stat in baseball that's gonna absolutely blow.
Your mind let's hit It Next San Diego, sports seff
it's sixt of your listening to Live on myheart.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Radio app he had two. Hits yesterday everyone. Missed, that
dude he's in the. Ball hard don't give me that.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
He is he is hitting. The ballhart it's what's the, day.
TODAY mate i don't want to hear about hitting the.
Ball hard he is hitting, the Ballhard like i'll hear
about people hitting.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
The, ballhard look he was the only padre that anything
at the plate last night he got a couple. OF
hits i don't know what to Do With Fernando tazzis
junior right now because the batting average. Is, okay honestly
he's hitting the ball harder than just about anyone, in
baseball but none of them are going over. THE fence
i don't know if it's going to be a. Day
loge once, it started it's gonna be like a damn
breaking and it's not. GONNA stop i don't know what it's.
Gonna be, BUT man i missed that dude who was

(33:07):
backflipping and walking down first base slowly while he's mean mugging.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
The picture that.

Speaker 4 (33:11):

(34:11):
right now second place In The American League wild card
Are The. Seattle mariners they have a record of eighteen,
and twenty two games below. Five hundred that's second place
In The american League wild card.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
One, two three.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Four five sixth place In The National league wildcard Is
The washington nationals with a record of eighteen.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
And TWENTY the al has four teams above. Five hundred,
right now it's kind.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Of futured it's like It's the rays And the yankees
and everybody else right now In The. American league it's
kind of insane when you look. At it But The
national league.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
Is.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Stacked man you Got the cardinals And, the pirates who
are both twenty two. And Fifteen, the Pirates, the Brewers
the reds all at least two games over, five hundred
and then you get to the list of, everybody else
right and those aren't even.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Division leaders that's just the wild. Guard race at.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
This Point The, national league at least early in, the
season has a. Clear advantage let's get some. Long shots,
go ahead smash.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
You looking for.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Some luck wanna?

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Wins big it was, so money we don't even know
what time to take.

very excited by. THE way i eventually you could probably bet.
On that look On while i'm doing this Look on calcie,
right now see what we.

Speaker 5 (35:34):
CAN find.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
I.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
Can't wait by, the way roasts one Of The comedy
central roasts Now, in netflix one of the greatest things we.

Speaker 5 (35:42):
Have left in.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
This, world okay we have a four. Lake parlay we're
gonna start WITH. The nba they were head IN the
ufc and. Some boxing start With The association nicks six
or tonight series goes Back. To philly philly played pretty
well in that.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Game.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Too again they went four to nineteen the, fourth quarter
which was kind of their undoing the, other night and
they Held the knicks to. Nineteen points the problem was
the offense.

Speaker 5 (36:07):
Wasn't.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
There Now og ananoby is questionable for this game. As
Well mitchell robinson is dealing with. An illness he's probable for,
the Game And josh hurt is also probable for, the
game but dealing with a. Thumb Injury joel embiid is
a game. Time decision give Me the sixers my soon.
A half i don't care what was playing. FOR him
I think sixers actually get back in. This Series the
sixers played again really Well in. Game two the underlying

(36:30):
metrics If og nanoby is not playing or if, he's
hampered that is a big loss For. The knicks he
has been one of the most consistent Pieces For new
york so far. This postseason that's a, big loss and
it's a it's a one of the best defenders on,
the team not able to go After Maxi.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
OUBRA edgecombe I think philly gets it.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
DONE tonight i think they win actually by. A, Bunch,
spurs timberwolves, give me give me the give me The
t wolves at home plus four and A half i. Game,
TWO look i get they got their doors. Blown Off
anthony edwards was talking about before, the game you can't come,
out flat and they did come.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
Out Flat the spurs played with a lot.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
Of URGENCY but i think we need to not forget
about what happened In that. Game one the game one they.
Outplayed Him the spurs needed. That, GAME frankly i think
the arena's gonna be On Fire. ANTHONY edwards i Would
assume edwards finally getting a little bit of, rest here
think he'll be more back to normal And go bear
should have a better Game against Wenby in game three

(37:24):
like he Did in. GAME one i like plus four
and a half getting those points. At home, all right
let's Go. To hazmat shamaiev Taken On. Sean Strickland so
i'm trying to find the odds. RIGHT now I like shamayav, Via,
SUBMISSION okay i like him to go inside. The, distance
look he's fifteen. And. Zero unbelievable this is a guy

(37:45):
who has Taken Out, ROBERT whittaker I Mean, kevin holland
he has anyone that has been thrown. His way the
only guys that have Ever given shamaya Problems Were gilbert
Burns And kamara ousman in some of the amateurs and
when they were, Coming Up sean strickland in Acts Of,
philly shell which Is The floyd mayweather made it famous
where you have your, left hand your jabhand right out

(38:06):
in front. Of you You got paul. Shots off the Problem,
with chamaiev who's a. Submission artist the only way TO
scare schamaiav is. By Power sean strickland does not. Have
Power sean strickland has a combination. Of punches he doesn't
have one. Shot power and these press conference has been.
PRETTY heated I think shamayev. SUBMITS him i think it's.
Actually Early so tamaiev. By submission whatever you can get.

(38:28):
THAT at i think it's a pretty good odds and
then head Overseas. To England daniel duboas Taking On. Fabio
wardley pretty fun little heavyweight. SCRAP here I Like daniel
dubas plus one sixty five FOR.

Speaker 5 (38:40):
The ko they're even money.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
A Piece fabio wardley has Taken Out joseph parker in his,
last fight Took Out fraser clark in the.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
First ROUND but.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
I think people are forgetting about How Good daniel. Dubois
is this is a guy who only has Lost to
usik in his last. Five Fights alexander usik's taken, apart
everyone Whether That's, Tyson Fury Anthony joshuva waugh Absolutely Destroyed
anthony joshua last summer in. A fight he's been in
here against the best and his power. Is sneaky everyone
talks About Free fabio. WORTHY'S power i think dubwalc and

(39:11):
crack it. Actually more giving us the plus money plus
one sixty Five, IN england I think dubois gets gets
him out of there plus one. Sixty five wordley has
never been on this, stage before so dubis plus one
sixty five ON. THE ko I like chamaia via SUBMISSION
in ufc three twenty Eight On. Saturday night give Me
the timberwolves plus four and a half at home as,

(39:33):
home DOGS and i Like the sixers to cover at
home tonight minus two and.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
A half something we gotta get to before we're off
the air today is The whole NETFLIX versus ufc thing.
THIS weekend i think we're probably just gonna get. To
that on the, other side. That's Next San diego sports.
