(00:00):
You're waking up with fifth in themorning time. Good morning Julie. On
the job, She's our career mentoo, are our career expert. She
answers your questions every Thursday around eighttwenty ish on the show and if your
ears are perking up like oh mygod, I'm on my way to work
now and I don't love it.She also answers your questions on TikTok and
we're going to get right to herphones. Good morning, Julie, good

(00:22):
morning. Let's start with you. Now, this is for you or who
Okay, well it's actually from mydaughter. Okay. She graduated after last
year and she is having a reallyreally hard time finding a job because everybody
wants somebody with experience to graduated aspetician. And she keeps applying and apply and

(00:43):
then she just cannot find a jobbecause, like I said, everybody wants
to want somebody with experience. Idon't know what to tell her. Luckily,
I mean she works all the timein a different field, but she
wants, you know, the jobshe went to school for. And remind
me what she went to school foragain. Yeah, she's an aesthetician.
She got doing it as position school. But yeah, she just cannot find

(01:03):
anything. Julie, thank you forthe call. What are your thoughts on
trades and such? Well, thefirst thing is when when a posting says
experience required or preferred, it doesn'tnecessarily mean that that's all they're going to
consider. Most organizations prefer experience, but don't let that keep you from applying.

(01:25):
So in some in some respects,it's a numbers game, but it's
also a game of how are youdoing your search? And if all you're
doing is answering postings, yeah,it could be a long, complicated and
painful search. Helpful Okay, Soif you were to, let's say,
you know, take it off theinternet and take it in person when it
comes to job hunting, how wouldyou start that initial conversation? What would

(01:47):
that first line be? We'll dothat next good morning. You're waking up
with Tiff in the morning on kissuanoh Seva one on Thursdays. We talked
to Julie on the job. Soif your ears you're perking up and you
want advice, this is the placeto go. Now we're in the midst
of this conversation about how do Igraduate and start a career when I just

(02:08):
keep applying, applying and plying, and I'm not getting anywhere. In this
instance, we had been talking aboutsomeone that graduated Esthetician school. But I'm
assuming your rules apply everywhere. Soif we're essentially getting off the apps when
it comes to dating, we're gettingoff the internet when it comes to finding
jobs. How would you phrase anemail or a text to somebody that you

(02:28):
want to start that process with.So if you have get a referral,
it's always a little stronger because thenyou can say, hi, so and
so Mary Jones gave me your nameand thought you might be able to help
me. I'm beginning my career inthis, this, this, and she
thought you might have some insights abouthow I might get some traction in lining

(02:50):
up my first job or in learningmore about the industry. And so the
first sentence, one of my favoritephrases is I'm hoping you can help me,
Because most people are like, oh, you think I can help you,
so nice, versus can you getme a job? Can you hire
me? Do you know somebody who'llhire me? No, I'm hoping,
because that's a yes or no question. I'm hoping you can help me opens

(03:13):
up the possibilities for getting people youknow engaged in your search, because everybody
can help you, but maybe theycan help you differently. Introductions to people,
resources ideas, et cetera. Thisis really a building relationships process.
This is the lasting impression that youwill make on somebody. Use the line
I'm hoping you can help me.Yes boom. Julie on the job on

(03:37):
all platforms. She puts new TikTokvideos up but weekly, and of course
joins Tiff in the Morning every Thursday. So if you're like Tiff, I
have this very specific question, you'remore than welcome to reach out to her.
Of course, you know my pageand coming up next to your chance
to win the kid Larroy tickets, and you're gonna need the phrase career happiness
to win them. Don't go toofar, actually,
