Speaker 1 (00:00):
Because you're waking up with the morning.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Good morning, and welcome back to travel Tuesday with TOF.
I made the announcement last week that I'm going on
my very first solo trip to Europe. I brought my
friend Michelle on the show last week to make the announcement.
And she's our show's travel expert when it comes to
travel in general, but really she's great at solo travel.

(00:24):
And I said, I'm gonna need a lot of handholding,
and my hope is that maybe I'll inspire you to
travel solo on your own. Good morning, Michelle.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
So every week on Tuesday, she's coming in and sprinkling
in a few different tips. So I need to know
for today, I really need you to hold my hand
on this because when I look started looking into solo travel,
I would find some great influencers in bloggers, but a
lot of them were like, girl, just book it and
figure it out with this book it mentality. And you

(00:54):
know what, Jessica, I need a little bit more handholding
from that. And so you are going to walk us
through with your three big tips.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah. So first thing when you're struggling to get started,
stay out of your group chat app Please don't go
in there and say, Hey, I'm thinking about going somewhere
solo for the first time. Send me your recommendations. I
can't even go into some of mine because I get
stressed and overwhelmed it watching the flood of recommendations come in.
So if I can't see it without getting stressed, you
are not going to be able to filter through them

(01:23):
without getting stressed. I love that. Instead, go ask someone
you know who either has traveled a lot or traveled solo,
and that will set you off on the right course.
If you don't have anyone, hit me up. I'm always
here to help with those kinds of things. That is
literally what my company is about. Or if you're just
nervous about reaching out to somewhat of a stranger, maybe

(01:44):
if you have a destination sort of in mind, go
read about it on Reddit. There are solo travels on
there who talk about their experiences a little bit more
technically in depth, and I think that would be a
good alternative as well.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Number one tip, avoid the group text. Please the group text.
Number two tip, what do you have for me?

Speaker 1 (02:03):
So things to actually get you started once you figured
out where you want to go, Start simple with Google Flights.
Play around in it a little bit, select your budget
and a day early, a day late, see what might
work best for you in your schedule. It'll show you
a lot of options, but the top three are going
to be the ideal options. And it really helps to

(02:25):
have a shortened list like that to go off of.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
So play around a little bit with Google. I get
super stressed out and overwhelmed by googling and researching things
I just don't like to research. So just gently start
with like a Google flight site, see like things to
do in this city. Get comfortable. It took me a
long time to like nail down the fact that I

(02:49):
was going to go to Ireland. So it's not going
to get booked in a day, No, not at all time.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
What other tips do you have? What are the big
country like? Where should someone go in Cincinnati if they
too want to book a solo trip and they want
to leave the US? Where are the top places to go?

Speaker 1 (03:08):
The top places for most Americans are actually Canada and
Mexico nearby. That's a great place to start, minimum language barrier,
even if you go down to Mexico, or even if
you want to venture a little bit out, go into
Europe a place like Ireland, maybe Amsterdam. Those are really
great places to start. Okay.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Michelle is our show's travel expert. She's the Jane of
all Travel. Is your Instagram handle. You can start there
if you want to chit chat. What I need from
you right now Cincinnati five one three seven four nine
one seven one. As we do this over the next
six weeks, as I get ready for my Ireland trip
and my very first solo trip, I'm also sourcing some

(03:47):
feedback from you and also tips, et cetera. So if
you want to get involved on this, I would love
your help. Thank you, Michelle, Thank you.
