embezzling over eight hundred and ninety thousand dollars eight hundred

That's almost ne hundred thousand dollars. That's almost a million
dollars right right from him. And so, ay, how does
that happen? Says this was his former accountant. Uh and
then what happened since he's dead, like he's not around anymore.
They just found this out, you know, after his death,
it says they're they're getting.

Out to be the estate the found this.

Yeah, it potentially is a twenty years in prison for this.
In bezling. What's the definition of in bezzling? That's just stealing, right, I.

Mean essentially it's taking somebody else's money for your purposes
without permission, right, And and a lot of times what
we see is that they skim a little bit off
the top here and there. I don't want to say
that's how the good ones do it, because if I
know about it, you probably weren't that good, right, right,
But you know, you know it's a one hundred thousand

comes in, five thousand goes out. You know, ninety thousand
comes in three thousand that and over time it adds
up to eight hundred and ninety thousand dollars.

doing an accounting.

were like, wait a minute, this is not what you're.

It's usually like it's your accounting forever. You trust him.

you guys were right. All blamed the man and it
was a woman.

like Ray's saying is that it's a person of confidence.
He's been working for him for however many years. Yeah,
typically stuff like this because he's probably you know, been
pinching a little bit here, but a little bit. There's
nothing that draws a bunch of attention. You're not gonna
get you're not gonna get found out unless something like this,
a person passes away. You have forensic accountants go through

the stuff and that that's probably how they got caught.

Right, And so I agree exactly what Angel said. And
then you know, when that happens, then they give the
information over to law enforcement. Law enforcement does their investigation
and if they find and it's it's a hard thing
to prove permission, right, So now this person has to
go back and try to prove Oh well, I talked
to Hault Coogan and he said I could use this
money for you know, she man, yeah, come on, she

uh is going to go back? Can say, Hulk Hogan
gave me permission to use this money for whatever purposes
she used it for.

And so if the money's already spent, the money's already spent,
like they'll never get any money back, like his varnish, Yeah,
I mean doesn't.

I mean, she probably is going to lose her accounting license,
so she probably isn't going to be super collectible. But
you know, it's not uncommon that we see restitution orders
and things like that in these types of cases where yeah,
you know, once you get out of jail, you got
to pay the family back at a certain rate and
you may not ever be made whole.

But I don't know, did hel Hogan died with a
lot of money in his estate.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
I don't yeah he he okay, yeah, he had a
lot of money, but his his daughter didn't want any
of it.

Like, uh oh did she recant? He came back and said,
I'll take something, take some money.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Yeah. Well I remember seeing that. She said she didn't
want any money, and I'm like, that's odd, you should
take it.

And that's my curiosity was if she was going to
get any of this money, because I guess go to
the estate for sure. The skimming was going from twenty
seventeen to two twenty one, and they have I guess
they got him also for uh transferring money. So uh
so you keep saying he that's what's throw on me.

She it was, yeah, but uh you know that's towards
the end of his life too, and so there's sometimes
increased penalties for that. I don't know how old Hulklogan
was in twenty twenty one.

Was he already in the hospital at that time, No, no, no, no, no,
Actually he was. He used to come in here around
that time twenty nineteen and twenty nineteen. Yeah, yeah, but
he was seventy one when he died of a heart attack. So,
and that was in twenty twenty five, twenty twenty five,
five July twenty fourth, twenty twenty five, he died at
seventy one, so he was.

At that point he was already an elderly person by
the State of Florida statute. Oh, so that means so
there's enhanced penalty. So loves to beat up those I've
heard about that, my goodness. And not only does she
like to beat him up, but she likes to talk
smack about him in a very non PC way.

He had an accountant, and his accountant was stealing from him.

Yeah, but do you handle those kind of cases? I've
handled those cases before. Both on the side of the
alleged perpetrator. Back earlier in my career when I did
criminal defense work, I had a couple of cases with embezzlement.
One was a super interesting case which now became a
super popular way to embezzle money. At the time, I

thought it was very innovative, and then I represent a
couple of visits.

he's in prison. Oh wow.

When it comes to when bezzling money that I was
interesting at the time in divorce, it.

People just thinking that they're too smart and they can
move money around and it's like nobody's gonna find this.
And what people don't realize is if it's in a
bank and it's getting moved around, I can follow it.

The harder people are the people that like have like
kettle corn stands, and like they get paid a lot
of cash and it's like, well where did that cash?

don't want to go too much into like how to
hide money using crypto. Most wallets I can find information on.
There are some malls I can't. And uh, let's take.

Called like forensic count the people that they specialize in
that to find out where you put your money to you.

I got a couple of friends that like that's their
their gigs. One works for a certain government agency and uh,
they're the like the That's what they're kind of concerned
about is the level of.

Well being accumulated that nobody knows about.

Through crypto, and how it's being moved and how it's
uh being you know, how they're using it for different things.
And one of the areas that it's popping up is
in uh these family kind of divorces and and uh
and one.

If people don't have the keys, it's a real problem. Yeah.

And you know what we saw back in the early
two thousands, it was like those tokens and stuff like
that for video games being used to funnel money around.
And now we're using crypto and it's just, uh, it's
just one more thing for people to learn how to
figure out how to do. If there's a will, there's
a way, and they're going to try to find a
way to keep the money.

The legislation that was up at a national level that
was even more weakening the laws or the regulation of that,
and that's what people were concerned about.

It's for sure concern and you know, the I R.
S and the federal government always wanted their piece of
whatever it is. But I also think there's some some
legal reasons why we need to have access to that
stuff as well.

So about three years ago, two years ago, we were
hiking and North Carolina with my son. He had to
go to the bathroom and I was like, hey, but
I'll take you off the side of the little trail
here to use the restroom. And so we do, and
as he does, we come across a little pigmy rattlesnake,

and so I let my son finish go to the bathroom.
When I walk them back to the rest of the kids,
and I said, guys, give me a second. I gotta
I gotta go do something. And so my daughter is
always curious what I'm doing. She said, we you gonna
go do it, So she wanted to follow me, and
I was like, all right, we gotta stand back. So
then I catch this pigmy rattlesnake. You caught it?

Yeah, you guys, why would you do that?

He's like a tough, rugged man like he but like shoots.

So I catch it. And this is maybe the second
day of our trip. I have like a ten day trip. Yeah,
literally every single day. My wife had to look. She's like,
you could have died, you could have killed our children.

And the smaller thing that you want to catch someone
of my kids to be able to hold it and
play with it, and like, you know.

And and the worst part about it was like we
drove like two miles to get to this place and

and you know, and we didn't have a very small

have a really harsh winter. Uh, they don't have a

So they say that it is all natural no preservatives,

So there's apparently some some citric acid that's used for
the pasta. So it's in the frozen food section. It's
these like little cheese tortellini's. Yeah, and somebody purchased it.
They paid a premium for it because it's all natural
without preservatives. I guess they did not read the label.
The label does say it has the citric acid in it,

which is used as a preservative. And I guess there's
some studies that come out to say that some of
theseservatives can have negative health effects, and so there's a
class action lawsuit. So you know, for me, it was
it was kind of a p s A to people
be aware that if they are buying this pasta one,
they may be a part of this class action lawsuit
right in two. If you're concerned about the health effects
from these, uh these types of preservatives, be careful.

So when you go to when you go to Costco,
like all that stuff that's Kirkland, you only you can
only buy Kirkland stuff at Costco.

embezzling over eight hundred and ninety thousand dollars eight hundred

dollars right right from him. And so, ay, how does
that happen? Says this was his former accountant. Uh and
then what happened since he's dead, like he's not around anymore.
They just found this out, you know, after his death,
it says they're they're getting.

Out to be the estate the found this.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yeah, it potentially is a twenty years in prison for this.
In bezling. What's the definition of in bezzling? That's just stealing, right, I.

Mean essentially it's taking somebody else's money for your purposes
without permission, right, And and a lot of times what
we see is that they skim a little bit off
the top here and there. I don't want to say
that's how the good ones do it, because if I
know about it, you probably weren't that good, right, right,
But you know, you know it's a one hundred thousand

comes in, five thousand goes out. You know, ninety thousand
comes in three thousand that and over time it adds
up to eight hundred and ninety thousand dollars.

doing an accounting.

A new set of eyes looked at it and they
were like, wait a minute, this is not what you're.

He probably trusted the guy, and that's usually what that is, right,
It's usually like it's your accounting forever. You trust him.

you guys were right. All blamed the man and it
was a woman.

pinching a little bit here, but a little bit. There's

a person passes away. You have forensic accountants go through

the stuff and that that's probably how they got caught.

Right, And so I agree exactly what Angel said. And
then you know, when that happens, then they give the
information over to law enforcement. Law enforcement does their investigation
and if they find and it's it's a hard thing
to prove permission, right, So now this person has to
go back and try to prove Oh well, I talked
to Hault Coogan and he said I could use this
money for you know, she man, yeah, come on, she

uh is going to go back? Can say, Hulk Hogan
gave me permission to use this money for whatever purposes
she used it for.

And so if the money's already spent, the money's already spent,
like they'll never get any money back, like his varnish, Yeah,
I mean doesn't.

I mean, she probably is going to lose her accounting license,
so she probably isn't going to be super collectible. But
you know, it's not uncommon that we see restitution orders
and things like that in these types of cases where yeah,
you know, once you get out of jail, you got
to pay the family back at a certain rate and
you may not ever be made whole.

But I don't know, did hel Hogan died with a
lot of money in his estate.

I don't yeah he he okay, yeah, he had a
lot of money, but his his daughter didn't want any
of it.

Like, uh oh did she recant? He came back and said,
I'll take something, take some money.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Yeah. Well I remember seeing that. She said she didn't
want any money, and I'm like, that's odd, you should
take it.

And that's my curiosity was if she was going to
get any of this money, because I guess go to
the estate for sure. The skimming was going from twenty
seventeen to two twenty one, and they have I guess
they got him also for uh transferring money. So uh
so you keep saying he that's what's throw on me.

She it was, yeah, but uh you know that's towards
the end of his life too, and so there's sometimes
increased penalties for that. I don't know how old Hulklogan
was in twenty twenty one.

Was he already in the hospital at that time, No, no, no, no, no,
Actually he was. He used to come in here around
that time twenty nineteen and twenty nineteen. Yeah, yeah, but
he was seventy one when he died of a heart attack. So,
and that was in twenty twenty five, twenty twenty five,
five July twenty fourth, twenty twenty five, he died at
seventy one, so he was.

At that point he was already an elderly person by
the State of Florida statute. Oh, so that means so
there's enhanced penalty. So loves to beat up those I've
heard about that, my goodness. And not only does she
like to beat him up, but she likes to talk

handled those cases before. Both on the side of the
alleged perpetrator. Back earlier in my career when I did

super popular way to embezzle money. At the time, I

And what people don't realize is if it's in a

The harder people are the people that like have like
kettle corn stands, and like they get paid a lot
of cash and it's like, well where did that cash?

hide money using crypto. Most wallets I can find information on.
There are some malls I can't. And uh, let's take.

that to find out where you put your money to you.

I got a couple of friends that like that's their
their gigs. One works for a certain government agency and uh,
they're the like the That's what they're kind of concerned
about is the level of.

Well being accumulated that nobody knows about.

Through crypto, and how it's being moved and how it's
uh being you know, how they're using it for different things.
And one of the areas that it's popping up is
in uh these family kind of divorces and and uh
and one.

If people don't have the keys, it's a real problem. Yeah.

And you know what we saw back in the early
two thousands, it was like those tokens and stuff like
that for video games being used to funnel money around.
And now we're using crypto and it's just, uh, it's
just one more thing for people to learn how to
figure out how to do. If there's a will, there's
a way, and they're going to try to find a
way to keep the money.

The legislation that was up at a national level that
was even more weakening the laws or the regulation of that,
and that's what people were concerned about.

It's for sure concern and you know, the I R.
S and the federal government always wanted their piece of
whatever it is. But I also think there's some some
legal reasons why we need to have access to that
stuff as well.

Yeah, and I guess it bites his hand. But they're racers, yeah, like.

Yeah yeah, but I'm not picking those up, how about you.
Speaker 7 (16:53):
So about three years ago, two years ago, we were
hiking and North Carolina with my son. He had to
go to the bathroom and I was like, hey, but
I'll take you off the side of the little trail
here to use the restroom. And so we do, and
as he does, we come across a little pigmy rattlesnake,
(17:13):
and so I let my son finish go to the bathroom.
When I walk them back to the rest of the kids,
and I said, guys, give me a second. I gotta
I gotta go do something. And so my daughter is
always curious what I'm doing. She said, we you gonna
go do it, So she wanted to follow me, and
I was like, all right, we gotta stand back. So
then I catch this pigmy rattlesnake. You caught it?
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Yeah, you guys, why would you do that?
Speaker 4 (17:34):
He's like a tough, rugged man like he but like shoots.
Speaker 5 (17:37):
And.
Speaker 7 (17:42):
So I catch it. And this is maybe the second
day of our trip. I have like a ten day trip. Yeah,
literally every single day. My wife had to look. She's like,
you could have died, you could have killed our children.
How dare you so mad?
Speaker 2 (17:58):
That's definitely.
Speaker 7 (18:01):
And the smaller thing that you want to catch someone
of my kids to be able to hold it and
play with it, and like, you know.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Because I hate my kids, that's nuts, you right, you know?
And she thought I was so irresponsible. Respond yeah, that's business. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (18:17):
And and the worst part about it was like we
drove like two miles to get to this place and
then we were hiking it for like an hour or so,
like we were not close to medical supervision anywhere.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Uh, And looking back on it, it was.
Speaker 7 (18:30):
A little reckless, a little but I used a stick
and you know, yea, yeah, I used to stick you.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
I do not like snaks, so snakes don't bother me
so much. I'll tell you.
Speaker 7 (18:42):
If there's any like animal I don't like, it's probably spiders.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
My wife is the same way. And I don't get
that any iraq.
Speaker 7 (18:49):
Nids like ticks, spiders like those types of things. They
always sent seemed to end up on me, and and
that weirds me out. I don't I don't really like
the feeling of them. I guess there's a big about
the Portuguese.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
I guess there's a big tick problem going on now
because of you know, where we are in the summer,
and you know, and we didn't have a very small
country angel they're not going to get that.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Man.
Speaker 7 (19:13):
We didn't have a very cold winter, and so a
lot of times ends up happening is when you don't
have a really harsh winter. Uh, they don't have a
kill off of the tick eggs, and so the.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Lime disease is a problem. Lime disease is a problem.
And then there's that other.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Disease where if a tick bites you and like you
you're you feel like you're allergic.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
To meat or something like that. You become allergic to me.
It's like you're actually allergic. EKG.
Speaker 6 (19:36):
It's something with three letters though it's the loan start
tick that does that.
Speaker 7 (19:40):
What it is, it's a certain it's a certain. I
think it's like a breed of tick. Right, it's a
breed of tick. But it's like not a poison, but
like like a protein or something that they inject into
you that that changes the way you get.
Speaker 6 (19:54):
So for the rest of your life you can't eat meat.
You can eat it. It comes back eventually, like a
lot of people report the like it. What are the
three letters as a g S. I knew it was
something like EKG.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
No, we're close actually, but yes, so you got you
gotta be using like picard in and Promethean and sprang
your clothing before you got in the woods. Yes, spiders
snakes don't bother me so much, but spiders tend to
always end up crawling on me and I don't like
that feeling, especially like my neck.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
So when you go in, I thought you were gonna
take Ryan hunting at some point as soon as man's up.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Ryan ain't gonna do it. He's not gonna be he
doesn't want to be that far.
Speaker 6 (20:33):
I don't want to go out with this guy who's
picking up pigmy rattlesnakes to tell.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
You that, Yeah, really, he's not the sameest guy in
the world to want to do that to his children.
What they're gonna do to make you still need to
go up to You need to go up to Maine,
uh to see our buddy.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
I do want to go up to Maine. I'm gonna
try to make a trip this year if I can
make it. My trial schedule this year is kind of crazy,
and I was supposed to have a trip with another
friend of mine in November. Trial set for that week,
so I'm not really sure what my planes are going
to be. But if they all get mixed up, maybe
I'll make sure up there.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
If not, I'm telling it's Lake Parlan, Maine. Joe. I
think he listens all the time. He just sent me
a text the other day and the place is beautiful.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
This place is absolutely beautiful, and they know the thing
is and he's invited me. I don't want to shoot
a moose like like I want to see the moose.
Let's take a picture of the moose. Can we pet
the moose?
Speaker 2 (21:26):
Sure? But I don't want to kill the moose.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
You know.
Speaker 7 (21:29):
It's funny because I don't mind picking up snakes, but
I don't know if I'm interested in petting a moose.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Yeah, I pet a moose, but I'm not shooting it.
I'm not killing it. I'm not into that.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
I don't do that.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Dude.
Speaker 7 (21:38):
Do you ever see like the bison, like the people
like in Yellowstone they get too close to the bison.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
And they get thrown around. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
See, Like, I don't think people realize the animals are
generally in a flight or fight state twenty four to seven. Right,
they're in survival mode twenty four seven.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:58):
And I have no in a nation or desire to
pet really any animal that is large enough to trample me.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
That that sounds like terrible idea. Have you sent me
a couple of stories here? One of them is about
Costco face and a major lawsuit over what is really
inside the Kirkland pasta? Yeah, what could be in it
that's any different? I mean it's just pasta's pasta.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Right. Uh?
Speaker 7 (22:23):
So they say that it is all natural no preservatives,
and just like Amber says that it's not true.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
I'm just teasing.
Speaker 7 (22:33):
So there's apparently some some citric acid that's used for
the pasta. So it's in the frozen food section. It's
these like little cheese tortellini's. Yeah, and somebody purchased it.
They paid a premium for it because it's all natural
without preservatives. I guess they did not read the label.
The label does say it has the citric acid in it,
(22:55):
which is used as a preservative. And I guess there's
some studies that come out to say that some of
theseservatives can have negative health effects, and so there's a
class action lawsuit. So you know, for me, it was
it was kind of a p s A to people
be aware that if they are buying this pasta one,
they may be a part of this class action lawsuit
right in two. If you're concerned about the health effects
from these, uh these types of preservatives, be careful.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
So when you go to when you go to Costco,
like all that stuff that's Kirkland, you only you can
only buy Kirkland stuff at Costco.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
So they're kind of making their own problem. No, they
got other non Kirkland brand.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
No, I know that, but like the only place you
can get Kirkland is at Costco.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Yeah. True. So they have a bunch of stuff they
make just to sell it. Their Kirkland, I believe doesn't
make anything. I think they're just slapping the branding.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
Yeah, so they get a deal usually like with like
like is supposed to be like Starbucks coffee, the same stuff.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Some of the even so with some of their liquor brands,
the the stuff that's being swapped out is like really
hot o That Costco vodka is good.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Yeah, that's the one thing I missed. I stopped going
to Costco because, to be honest, I just use Amazon
for everything. It's just much easier. But I used to
like going to their liquor store because it seems like
you got a lot.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Isn't Costco delivering now? I think they do. They do deliver.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
You said, yeah, they're starting to do that thing, and
they're like delivering the same day. Really Yeah, yeah, We're
all like in certain cases, depending on what the products
and frequency, it's more cost effective than the other one.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
Hey, so, ray, how's the world of divorce right now?
Are we uptick? Is it low tick? Is it we're
getting ready to start tick for summertime? Do people uh
wait till after summer to get divorced or is this
the time to do it?
Speaker 7 (24:37):
So usually you see a spike right now, right before
the end of school, and then we'll see things slow down.
Usually it's post Memorial Day, so you know we're probably
hitting that the slowing down period time now. But what's
what's weird is because you know, we have.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
This because it's cheating season right now, because you got
your summer bad, That's what I'm saying. Ever, so everybody's
doing the cheating and then they realized after like a
few months or weeks or whatever, they're like, I need
to leave my wife.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
I want to leave my husband in the kettle corn business?
Is there an up check?
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Because we're right around the corner from Father's Day? Do
you ever notice an uptic of women filing divorce on
Father's Day?
Speaker 7 (25:13):
That's a good question, you know what I don't I
can't think of any.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Because we're always worried about y'all.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
Don't you know, don't want to do it around you know,
saying Valentine's Day or you don't want to do it
around there I'm curious that they would. Yeah, I would
say our father's extended that that common courtesy and or
is there you know, or other women trying to prove
their point and like russ had put the screws to them,
(25:40):
not in a good way and file for divorce on
Father's Day.
Speaker 7 (25:43):
I'm certain it's happened. I just can't think of an
instance where it has. Like so, I've had people served
on their anniversaries, at their wedding anniversaries. I've had people
get served on their birthdays, Christmas Eve like, I've had
people get served like on the He's like really like
terrible things.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
But I can't think of any on like.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
Father's Day, right, And that just goes to show how
lucky we are as Dad's right, Like, you know, guys
don't think twice.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
We're even forgotten about.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
Guys wouldn't think twice. It's a Mother's Day weekend. She'll
have another one next year. Uh No, I'm just teasing.
I'm sure it's happened. I just I can't think of
one off the top of my head.
Speaker 1 (26:23):

need to hold Ray Trendley for any divorce stuff or
any kind of family law or whatever. It's One Firm

And I'm like, yeah, but that's why we're all here
to keep her straight. Like, like, you know, the things
that she says, we can say now that's not that's
not how she really You guys.
Speaker 7 (27:03):
Just do Amber's conspiracy theory. Yeah, yeah, you do your
segment for her, and then that way she can this
segment and then then make a decision.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Now, Amber is not prepared for her segment, so I
don't know if we could.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
But here's the thing, when we come back, you can out.
You should ask the counselor questions to make sure she's
qualified to evaluate you.
