up to the pod. Fourth of July weekend? How was
it for you, Kiki?

It was amazing. Actually, I'm lying. Fourth of July was
terrible in Chicago. Okay. We lost power at my house
for a few hours.

Wow.

Yeah, it was crazy. I mean, I'm just sitting there.
I know, barbecue, no cut waters, no nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
We were just sitting there. He started making a song up.
We were so boring. We got to know each other again.
It was great, you know. But other than that, it
was just like he could do nothing.

And I don't know black people as much as you know,
we'd be like, we's other bringing the fourth and the
fourth is just a black person holiday and community. We
don't really care about what what it means. We like
to barbecue, get together, have a nice outfit on, and drink.
And the fact that I wasn't able to do that
it was really hurting me. Like I sat in the
house and watch Netflix. That's how you know I was

So it was the weather was trash.

The weather was super trash in Chicago. Shout to the

Couldn't get out there. You just saw that storm.

That storm crazy with tore my grill all up and
back exactly way me and the little grill all down
the street.

Charcoal all that, and set somebody house on fire. And
that's around me. No, I didn't.

It was just like the fourth was crazy, and I
didn't want to really be at home because in my
neighborhood I stay around a lot of negroes, and negroes
on the Fourth shoot every firework they got and then
when they run out of firework, they start shooting dynamite.

When they run out of that, they start shooting guns.

So I was like, I'm gonna leave. But guess what,
the rain saved me. It was a blessing in the curse.
I really wasn't upset with the rain because they weren't
as loud, so it was like but they were still
on it, so like it had stopped raining. The next
thing you hear boom boom and knowh like whoa, whoa, whoa.
He keeps saying whoa, and I'm like, no, just fireworks.

He thought it was like crazy. So it was lighter
on that side because usually it sounds like a war
zone in my house around my house, and I don't
like that. So you take the good with the bad man.
But I it was bad. I didn't have no barbecue.
I think the next day I just went ahead and
wined me and little Wilma's doing that. That was on Sunday,

just trying to relieve a little, you know, for the July.

Yeah, we did do a redo.

Shout out my brother Cam. He barbecued every piece of
meat in his house. He was so we were so
backed up that we didn't have before.

So oh yeah, in the morning though, he did.

About six thirty, I'm fined up the grill, y'all, come
on over, we're gonna for Yes.

Yes, everybody went in. They d freeze about me side.
We had to have it. I don't know, it's just
couldn't waste a good weekend.

Even eat catfish, but it looked great. And the way
Zach ate it, he was talking about it.

And when I tell you it was season crispy with
the inside is fluffy, I said, this is good. Yes,
some catfish is slimy, which is disgusting, you know. And
then you have the catfish just fried hard, but then
it's overcooked and the inside and then you be like
bro too, No, this was fried hard, you crunch and
it was still lighting fluffy on the inside.

can't first of all, you can't get on your moral

if you don't take one Sunday out of the week
or at least three Sundays after month to go to church, and.

a relationship with God is more important.

now I think you can. I think you better develop
a relationship when you are in a group of like
minded people looking for the same thing. And that's what
church really is, you know, you going and worshiping together.
I think it's important, right, But I respect people's opinions

if they don't go to church. I just think having
a relationship is most important for me.

The best example you can set for your child is you.

I grew up around everything, drugs, gangs, everything right, but

the people in my house were the example for me
and that they taught me right from wrong. So, like
you know, it's all about being intentional about your house.
But like you said, people like to get outraged about
anything because you yelling, we screaming about young Miami. But
it's seventeen male rappers that didn't said and done worse
in the last viral seventeen viral songs and nobody cares.

So it's just like you said, I was just mad

Good and it's booming everywhere, And you do have to
parent your own kids.

Now. On the other s, flip side of that, I
do that.

I do think the music and culture do influence people
to and act a certain ways, and as a parent,
it's your job to parent that out of it and
be the biggest influence and being try and try to
be the biggest influence.

Yeah, nobody's more influencial to me than my sister that
raised me like nobody and.

I and I totally get that.

But I mean, I've walked the walk I grew up
in the hood and have wore my hat a certain
way because that's the way the rappers was wearing and
sagging because that's what I saw as the cool thing.
My dad and parents never did that, but they had
to parent that out of me.

So I was influenced by the culture.

But then here comes the correction problem is a lot
of parents necessarily may not have the time to do
the correct especially single parents if they at work trying
to raise a boy, which might be doing that by yourself.
Boys a lot of times don't look to their mom
to emulate. They look into another man to emulate, and
they see the dope boy, or they see the person
that's listening to this, or the person who they might

be looking up to, a person who is influenced by
the music.

So I understand that as well, And I asked, y'all,
is there any social responsibility on artists to censor themselves?

I don't necessarily think there is a I don't think
it's on the artist I think it's on the outlets
that promote the stuff. Like I feel like an artist,
you can make any type of art you want, right
and I think you have a freedom to make any
type of art you want. But it's certain I think
that the people that play the music, the people that
promoted the record labels, Hey, this don't really go with

what Because they said that there was a conscious decision
in hip hop when hip hop started off positive and
uplifting the community and bringing people together. The rumor has it,
or whatever conspiracy has it that there was meetings saying
we're going to change the way this type of music
that affects this type of people will be presented. We're
gonna they are gonna talk about negative things that destroy

their community, and we're gonna promote that because we know
what it's ultimately gonna do.

I think there's always an agenda, and I just think
as a parent, it's just it's part.

I understand, like you made a great point about single
parents and you may not have the time to pour

you could be mentoring your child. So I just think
it's like, yes, everything you said is correct, and it's
about it is an agenda being put.

defense between the world and your child, and you got
to do everything in your power to influence your child
to be have a mind of it of their own
and to make great decisions.

a parent, you need to do all you can do.

are some of our most successful movies and shows that
was on TV weren't promoting negativity, So pull them and

So it's definitely an agenda, but it's not You can't
expect the system to rate to do right, to correct itself.

I was having a conversation about schools about where to

We were talking about the debate of sending your kid
to an HBCU or keeping your kid at a black
school versus them going to a white school, because then

and then you open up a different type of problems

were having that debate and he said, man, what I

send my kids out to play sports in different things

can be in the hood here and I can send
