show designed to empower you to better health through knowledge
and education. And I'm your host, doctor Richard Untun from
Advanced Alternative Medicine Center, and here's my partner for the show,
your health Advocate, Mark Safe Back.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
It's great to be back here again. And I know
that we almost always talk at some point in every
show that we do about nutrition and the importance of nutrition.
And one of the things that you do to support
people nutritionally is that you offer a collection of different
supplements that you can access to create a program for

(02:03):
each individual depending on what their health need is. So
I wanted to begin today's conversation with asking you about
the basics for keeping a strong immune system. Is that
simply done by what you've learned in elementary school when
you were taught about. Proper eating and sleeping and exercise.

(02:25):
Are those the things that you need for health?

Speaker 6 (02:27):
So you weren't meaning the reading, the writing, and the arithmetic.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
No I was talking about. There was a whole other component.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
Eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, breathing properly, exercise, and
getting proper sleep exactly. Okay, So you need to appreciate
that all five of those are absolutely necessary. Eating healthy
meaning if you can find healthy food, you want to
make sure that you're eating healthy food regularly. You want

(02:56):
to drink plenty of water, roughly one quart of water
for every fifty pounds you weigh every single day. You
want to breathe into your belly, not into your chest,
so that your diaphragm gets to expand and contract, which
is your emotional processor, to help be more grounded and
centered instead of being so emotional all the time. You
want to exercise because life is a movement based sport,

(03:20):
so you want to be able to exercise and push
your body and challenge it to keep it properly functioning
and toned and strong, etc. And then, last, but not least,
you want to get proper amounts of sleep. And for
some people that could be as little as six hours,
but I recommend you get seven eight hours every night
if possible. And if you're not able to get that

(03:41):
because you just can't fall asleep, or you don't stay asleep,
or you're waking too early, that would be another reason
to reach out to me, so we could help you
out with that.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
M Now, what about hygiene? How big effect does hygiene
have along with the exercise, the proper diet, sleep, and
how does that affect your health?

Speaker 6 (04:00):
Well? Supporting your body all these ways directly impacts your
health and wellness, and so you want to make sure
that your hygiene is up to snuff. And again, you're
exercising and you're sleeping, in your diet. All of those
are the components that impact how you are health wise
and what your wellness score, if you will, would be.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Now, why are so many people struggling to fight off
the pathogens that we're running into?

Speaker 6 (04:26):
Now, Well, we have a suppressed immune system. We suppress
it every day of our lives, and we no longer
have an immune system that does the job properly. And
because we're constantly suppressing our immune system every single day
with the actions that we take, that makes us vulnerable
to the penetration of our immune defense system, and when

(04:51):
it begins to weaken or malfunction, then the things that
we're exposed to just that naturally exists in our environment,
have an ability to get in and set up shot
within you and cause sickness.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Now, along with pathogens, are is it the same reason
you can't cope with all the toxins that you're facing
on a databasis.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
Yeah, the toxins contribute to the body not being able
to manage being healthy since they are everywhere, and if
the body is always in the defensive posture having to
deal with the consequences of being exposed to toxins that
are everywhere, then the body doesn't actually get to relax,
breathe and exhale.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Illnesses and injuries seem to be just a part of life.
So what options do people often overlook in terms of
their healing.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
Nutrition is the biggest overlooked issue, as we believe that
food being sold today should support being healthy. Unfortunately, it
does not, and it does lead to the health issues
that we all have. I've said for the last forty
years that all health issues are nutritional deficiency diseases. Everything

(06:00):
develops as a result of not having the proper ingredients
that help to maintain the normal function of the body,
and over time that ultimately leads to developing health issues.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
So how do you balance yourself against all the health
challenges that we're all facing today.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
I personally stay on top of eating quality food, taking
amountain of whole food supplements, drinking water regularly, exercise, and
I get quality sleep and all of these things that
we were taught in kindergarten are necessary. And you know,
it's what you learn at the beginning of your educational
process is typically the basics for surviving and so we

(06:39):
all learned that by the time we were done with kindergarten,
and then a mountain of information was put on top
of that, and we sometimes forget the basics, so we
drift away from the basics.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
So I mean, if all healthcare problems are resulting from
some level of deficiency in your nutrition, does that mean
that you could actually just eat your way back to health.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
It will take a while if you have a concern,
but yes, if you know what you need to eat
and have access to it and commit to doing it,
then yeah, I suppose you can eat your way back
to good health.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
But I mean, is it even possible to get the
nutrition nutrients that you need today.

Speaker 6 (07:23):
With whole food supplementation. The answer is yes, and you
need proper guidance to accomplish this goal. But if you're
not taking some kind of whole food supplement, if you're
taking some sort of chemical isolate that you find at
G and C or vitamin shop or what have you,
chances are that you're getting high dosages of chemicals that
are missing all the cofactors and the trace elements, and

(07:46):
you're actually creating and feeding your problem more instead of
restoring balance and harmony by giving your body the foundational
ingredients that it needs to restore balance.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
So, in terms of the food, I'm meaning, if I'm
eating organic, will that resolve the problem?

Speaker 6 (08:05):
You will do better, and you may still have holes
in your diet if the organic you eat isn't broad
enough to support you to be healthy. It depends on
are you getting enough variety, and within the variety that
you're getting, are are they whole complete foods even if
they're labeled organic.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
Well, that leads me to the next question, which is
what about doing something like becoming a vegetarian or even
a vegan.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
Well, that's a tough one for people to understand. Vegans
and vegetarians will always be missing some essential amino acids
and they will never truly be healthy. I've had plenty
of both come into my office over the years, and
every one of them had a specific protein and hormonal issues.
And again that was every single one of them. And
so I welcome the opportunity to work with vegetarians and vegans,

(08:54):
and they just need to understand that that particular lifestyle
over time is going to lead to deficiencies because they
can't get some of the essential amino acids through a
vegetarian or a vegan lifestyle. They're going to actually need
to get some level of animal based protein. They don't
need to take a lot of it. We can substitute

(09:16):
that animal based protein with a supplement called proty food.
But they're going to need to just really take a
look at and understand where the line is over being
a puritan versus somebody that is leaning in that direction
very heavily, but not being an absolute puritan.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Now, what else can you do to improve your overall health?

Speaker 6 (09:41):
I would say to have an evaluation with someone who
can guide you to your best health specific to you,
applying a universal solution for everyone. It's the biggest scam around.
We all need specifics for our personal body, our personal stress,
and our personal lifestyle. And we are all different and
need need to understand that, and there is no one

(10:02):
size fits all.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
There's so much garbage that you're taking into your body
on a daily basis that you can't really avoid. So
how do you compensate for that?

Speaker 6 (10:12):
Drink plenty of water, artesian mineral or spring water, exercise
and watch your food sources and address your living environment
for problems things like EMFs, things like outgassing from highly
chemical based carpeting or other types of furniture. You just
want to be mindful of your environment and understand what

(10:35):
your environment is made up of and are there any
potential four hazards as a result of the outgassing that
goes on from carpeting and furniture, etc.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Now with so many different supplement options out there, how
does somebody know when their body needs a particular supplement
or what particular supplements their body would do best with.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
Oh, the simple answer is is have an evaluation with
the trained professionals such as myself. We spend a lot
of time with all new patients, nutrient testing them to
determine what the nutrients are that they're deficient in and
what we need to do to fill in those deficiencies.
They bring me whatever supplements that they're taking, and we
evaluate their supplement for effectiveness, and we evaluate it for dosage,

(11:24):
and if their supplement isn't being effective, then we find
a suitable whole food replacement and we advise them on
the proper doses there as well.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Now, our supplement's more than just like the multi vitamins
and protein powders that people are taking.

Speaker 6 (11:41):
They are marked. There's so much more than just the
multivitamins and the protein powders. And understanding the difference between
chemical based versus whole food based is probably most important.
And so when you go and you turn the label
around and you see the con of the different ingredients

(12:01):
and what their percentages are of the recommended daily values,
then you start to understand. If it's above a thousand percent,
sometimes as high as sixty thousand percent, then you know
that what you're getting is a chemical based product versus
a whole food, nature made product.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
So I mean, you could sit there and be taking
what you think are the correct vitamins that your body needs.
But because they're based out of a chemical they're not
necessarily being properly assimilated by your body.

Speaker 6 (12:37):
Yeah, your body's not going to absorb them because they're
not in their nature made state. They're in a chemical state,
and the chemicals have two different responses. They either push
the body in a particular direction or they pull the
body in a particular direction, as opposed to working with
the body for the body to be where it needs

(12:58):
to be. Based upon how you're supporting it, how.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Would you know that you're having those problems.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
You would need to come in and have a proper
health evaluation with somebody such as myself that has an
ability to help you see specifically for yourself if what
you're taking supports the body or if it creates a weakness.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
So you would actually bring in whatever supplements you're taking
on a daily basis into the visit.

Speaker 6 (13:24):
Yeah, whatever products that you're taking, if you bring that
with you on your initial evaluation, then we will evaluate
those as part of your evaluation to see a if
they're effective, and if they are, then we'll figure out
what the specific dose is for you of that specific supplement.
But if they're not effective, then we'll tell you you

(13:47):
should definitely stop taking this particular supplement, and if you're
interested in replacing it with something that actually works, then
we can show them a suitable replacement and we will
demonstrate to them how that is going to have beneficial
function for them.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
And one of the things that people are finding is
that their energy is depleted. They often feel tired, and
so there's now along with coffee, which is probably the
number one drink that people use to sort of elevate
their energy letters levels, there are other concerns that you
might have about other energy drinks that are now being offered.

(14:25):
I mean, you can't go into a convenience store without
finding a whole shelf load of different energy drinks. What
do you think about those? Are those a good way
to supplement your energy level?

Speaker 6 (14:36):
Absolutely not. They are artificial, stimulating a chemical response while
depleting the body of the vital nutrients to maintain normal energy.
So one will become more deficient and then one will
become dependent. And the initial high that you get from
the drink over time is not going to give you
that high anymore. Why, because the body's response to all

(14:59):
the chemical over stimulates the body, giving you that sense
of a high, and then eventually your body finds a
way to deal with that, and then you don't get
the response that you got initially. Why because it becomes
a learned response and the body then turns its physiology off.

(15:21):
Specific to those high powered energy drinks that are very depleting, well.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Are those I was wondering because we talk a lot
about sugar and the damage that sugar does to your diet.
Are a lot of those also supplements that you might take,
like those energy drinks? Do they have a lot of
sugar in them?

Speaker 6 (15:42):
They either have a lot of sugar or they have
a lot of caffeine, or they have both, and both
the caffeine and the sugar itself is going to give
you an initial high, and then you're going to get
a resulting crash which is ultimately going to ask you
to go reach for another can up of whatever that
energy drink is. And then the company that manufactures it

(16:05):
is making lots of money while you're depleting your body
over time and creating future health issues that you're going
to have a real difficult time recovering from.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah, now I'm seeing a lot of these alternatives to
like coffee and these energy drinks based on mushrooms, and
that seems to be a sort of a new place
that people are looking for some of that supplementation. Do
you have any response to what people are doing with
these mushroom coffees and these kind of drinks.

Speaker 6 (16:34):
Well, I personally don't have any affinity for mushrooms myself.
I know mushrooms out in nature are actually very healthy
and very healing for the body. I can't speak to
what's going on in these drinks simply because I know
the food industry. And if they put three percent of
an ingredient, then they can put whatever that ingredient is

(16:57):
on the label. And so if they're putting three percent
of the one hundred percent, so if ninety seven percent
is something other than the mushroom, but the mushroom is
the feature, then they'll put on the label that this
is made from such and such a mushroom. And because
people are becoming more aware of the health benefits of
using mushrooms, what they're not understanding is is what you're

(17:21):
getting from some of these drinks isn't going to make
any difference whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
So what do I need to know if I'm planning
to take some kind of supplementation to get the right ingredients, you.

Speaker 6 (17:34):
Need to know if it's the correct one for you,
and is it made from natural or real ingredients. And
the way that you can do that is when you
come into my office. We'll answer all those questions and
if it's not the right one for you, then we
will help you find a suitable replacement that is right
for you.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Well, this is this is a great introduction to our
conversation today, Doc Rich. We need to take a short
commercial break to hear from our sponsor, the Alternative Healthcare
Network dot com, and when we get back, I have
a number of other questions, specifically about some of the
supplements that you recommend on a regular basis.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
You are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 6 (18:11):
If you're currently suffering from any health concern and you're
not getting the results you're looking for, please feel free
to call me directly at area code eight four five
five six one two two two five again eight four
five five six one two two two five, or you
can email me directly at docric at spineboy dot com.
That's Doc Riick at spine boy dot com. And I

(18:35):
look forward to serving your healthcare needs.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
Naturally, you are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 3 (18:41):
Now, when we talk about supplements that you actually recommend,
there are twelve main ones that we can speak of today,
and these can make a huge difference in somebody's usual health.
So let's take a look at what they are. What
is the number one supplement that you recommend. What's at
the top of that list.

Speaker 6 (18:59):
Top of that list, This is a supplement called catalin.
I prefer to use the gluten free one, so it's
called Catalin GF. It's a whole food multi vitamin, a
multimineral supplement that is foundational for health and wellness. I
personally take three of these every day or one every meal.

(19:19):
It just basically fills in the most blatantly obvious holes
within a person's diet because it puts back all the
ingredients that the body needs on a regular basis. As
it's being a multi vitamin, if you will.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
All right, So it's a multibrs, so you would use
that inside of one of these other multi vitamins.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
The store bought kind absolutely, because the store bought kinds
are just chemical.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
So what's the second supplement that you would recommend somebody take.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
Well, before we get to that, I want the people
to appreciate that I take cattle in the way that
I do, and I've been taking catial in the way
that I do for over thirty five years. It is
a foundational whole food supplement designed to give your body
all of the components that have been refined out of
your food. It is again a foundational supplement, and I

(20:16):
personally prefer the gluten free one because gluten has become
pro inflammatory and so if you take catalin, the gluten
free kind, you're giving your body all the foundational ingredients
that it needs in order to support itself. Now that
being said, the second supplement that I recommend for people
is a probiotic called Ultraflora Balance dairy free capsules or

(20:41):
you can get it in powder, but I personally like
the capsules.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
And why is a probiotic so high on your list?

Speaker 6 (20:51):
It basically helps to restore balance to the microbiome within
the body that we trash on a regular basis. We
do some things that disrupt our microbiome and as a result,
we will need to constantly replace the good bacteria with
a formula that allows for repopulation of that microbiome. And
the best supplement that I have found on the market

(21:13):
after doing oodles of research is one made by Metagenics
called Ultraflora Balance dairy free capsules.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
So if you had those first two supplements in its
cattle and basically covers everything sort of in a general way,
why would you need to take anything beyond that?

Speaker 6 (21:31):
Because human beings have lots of different health issues that
aren't going to be restored just doing those two things
all by themselves. Those are the most important things that
they can be doing. But I'm sure as we go forward,
we're going to see some other supplements that I recommend,
and I won't go over each one of the reasons
for them, and then the listener can decide for themselves

(21:54):
if they want to be truly healthy, somewhat healthy, or
battling a health issue for the to their lives. They
get to decide.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Now. So we've talked about the pursuit. We talked about
the probiotic in the cattle in what's number three.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
Number three is a supplement called zymex. It is the
other half of the microbiome supporting supplement. It decreases the
tendency to overpopulate the microbiome with excess amounts of yeast
and candidia by decreasing the amount that grows there as
a result of eating too much refined sugar or consumption

(22:29):
of alcohol that has a tendency to wipe out the
good probiotics. That then allows the yeast and the candidia
to overpopulate. So zymex is about restoring balance to the
microbiome and thus allowing the probiotics to have a popular effect.
And with the cattle in gluten free, then the body's

(22:51):
getting the foundational ingredients that it needs in order to
run properly.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
So you're getting the foundational ingredients and then you're actually
supporting the digestive system with these next two correct. Okay,
so what's number four?

Speaker 6 (23:05):
Number four, I recommend a supplement called amuplex. This is
an immune support supplement for eliminating viruses within the body.
I personally take three to six of these a day,
depending upon the time of year, and it's one of
the best products that one can take if they're prone
to having viruses. It is an anti viral, but it

(23:27):
doesn't work the same way that medicine works. It works
as a food based supplement to stimulate the part of
the immune system that gives you extra strength in which
to repel and deal with any viral exposure.

Speaker 3 (23:40):
So since would that be similar to taking a flu
shot in the medical world.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
No, mark, a flu shot is a ridiculous attempt to
help the body recognize a specific flu virus by injecting
it behind the immune system in an effort to develop
a proper immune response to the flu, and it does
not work for those people who are immunosuppressed, which at
this point is just about everyone coming out of COVID

(24:07):
from a few years ago. We learned during the COVID outbreak,
the epidemic that all those people that got impacted by
COVID that actually gave you a litmus test to let
you know how the strength of your immune system is doing,
and it pretty much isn't doing very well at all,
which is why if you take imuplex, it will give

(24:31):
your body the ingredients that it needs to actually fight
the flu and any other viral imbalance the way that
it's supposed to, rather than suppressing it by giving it
some kind of injection.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
So everything that you're talking about is actually to enhance
the body's natural capacity towards health rather than combating diseases
and illnesses and viruses and pathogens.

Speaker 6 (24:54):
Yeah, everything that I do is trying to help a
person not have any health issues. And so the supplements
that we're taking and that we're recommending is we're going
to go through each one of them and help people
to appreciate that. During the month of December, which happens
to be the twelfth month of the year, we're talking

(25:14):
about the twelve supplements to take.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Now we've been through four, what's number five.

Speaker 6 (25:20):
Number five is a very important supplement called calcium lactate.
It is the exact calcium that the body needs in
order to support the blood. Calcium as it gets converted
to the exact calcium needed by the body, which is
called calcium by carbonate. Now, other than drinking mineral water,
it's nearly impossible to get enough calcium by carbonate to

(25:43):
maintain proper health. Calcium lactate is a solid form that,
once in the body, gets converted over to calcium by carbonate.
The last I mean the exact form of calcium that
the body needs in order to maintain its health and
its border and any other type of calcium is actually

(26:04):
going to become problematic for the person and their ability
to assimilate it and then convert it over to calcium
by carbonate. So taking the calcium lactate, which is directly
converted into calcium by carbonate is a very very important supplement,
and that's why it's number five.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
So is that why you're saying that some of these
other calcium supplements are actually associated with problems like stroke
and hard health.

Speaker 6 (26:29):
These are calciums the body is trying to eliminate that
doesn't function properly, and therefore plaques and deposits are the
byproduct of the crap food creating damage to the vessel
walls that cholesterol tries to repair, and over time this
leads to blocking the vessel and heart attacks or possible stroke.
If a piece of that plaquing breaks off and then

(26:52):
gets pumped down the blood system to a small or
narrow blood vessel to where it now clogs, that that
clogging would be known as the stroke.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Now can you get enough calcium from drinking milk and
eating cheese and yogurt things like that, Well.

Speaker 6 (27:09):
Not if it's pasteurized, as the enzymes have been killed,
and then you cannot process the sugar from lactose properly,
and then that potentially could lead to lactose intolerance. But
if you pasteurize super heat, which is what the pasturization
process is, you destroy the enzymes that are needed in

(27:29):
order for you to convert the milk, sugar, the lactose
into what's usable by the body.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
And now I keep seeing things being ultra pasteurized.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Right, Yes, it's already dysfunctional. So let's take it to
a very very high degree of dysfunction because that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Now, what's the number six?

Speaker 6 (27:56):
The sixth is a whole food vitamin C, the most
import vitamin and we recommend the whole food supplement called
cataplex C. I personally take six of these a day.
It helps to grow the immune cells that eat infection
that get people sick. It's the most important vitamin in
the body as it feeds the immune system to be

(28:17):
able to help the macrofages, which is a particular type
of white blood cell, begin to digest and eat up infection.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
So that cataplex C seems to cover you for a
lot of different possible potential health issues.

Speaker 6 (28:32):
It does. It's important for anyone who gets sick regularly.
Who doesn't want to get sick when their environment, when
they're in an environment that could cause you to get sick,
like working in the food industry, working in medical offices,
visiting hospitals, working in the garbage industry. Those are places

(28:52):
where a person would be more prone to getting sick
as a result of being exposed to where pathogens have
a tendency to grow. So taking cataflex C does cover
you for a lot of different possible health issues, and
it's very, very important for those people, especially those who

(29:14):
have a tendency to get sick.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
Yeah, I mean you're exposed to a lot of people
that may be coming to you and sick. And yet
I've known you for I don't know, twenty five years,
and I've never seen you.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
Say right, because at the end of the day, it
doesn't make any sense for me. There's nothing more disheartening
than if you have a health issue and you go
to the expert of that particular health issue and they
look at more poor health than you do, and you're
supposed to be taking their advice. So I make my
health a priority. It's actually one of the sales highlights

(29:48):
that I use as a testimonial to what it is
that I'm recommending for people. When people see the supplements
that I take, or when they see my health and
they compare it to their health. It's interesting, now that
I'm on the other side of the age of sixty,
when I get people that come into my office that
are anywhere from forty five to their the late fifties,

(30:10):
and they look ten to twenty years older than I.
Do you know, why wouldn't you take advice from me?
Seeing the effects that my health practices have had for
my longevity and the youthfulness.

Speaker 3 (30:24):
That I have.

Speaker 6 (30:26):
You know, it's just interesting to see the choices that
people make, the long term effects that they have, and
the lack of awareness of what they're doing and why
it's leading to the effects that they're experiencing.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Yeah, people are really don't necessarily know what the consequences,
thinks is, particularly because a lot of the consequences take
ten twenty thirty years to really develop into the kind
of problems that we're talking about.

Speaker 6 (30:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
Now, so this supplement, this, I mean, I've heard a
lot about vitamin C over the years, but this is
this cataplect ce is not like you say, it's not
the off the shelf, from the from the pharmacy or
from the health food store.

Speaker 6 (31:07):
Vitamin C now, the vitamin C that the government allows
to be called vitamin C is based upon the concentration
of a scorbic acid that is found within the product
or the calcium A scorebate because they will combine calcium
with the ascorbic acid and create a problem product that
the body doesn't actually get from nature. But cataplex is

(31:29):
a combined term. It combines two words, the word catalyst,
which is the first part of the cataplex, and the
word complex, which is the second part of the word cataplex.
So you get the catalyst the catapart from catalyst, and
the plex portion from the complex. And it functions as

(31:50):
both as a catalyst and a complex to support the
health and wellness of a specific aspect within the person
taking it. So there's several different cataplexes that are involved
in using the standard processed supplement line, and I'm sure
we're going to run across more of those as we
go forward.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
How do you determine which supplements a specific person actually
needs well?

Speaker 6 (32:15):
Through the tool of manual muscle testing, we're able to
interface with the nervous system to create a muscle response
test with the specific body that we're asking questions to,
and then we just simply ask the question I asked
the person's body to see if it tests well and
acts as a support product for the health and wellness

(32:36):
of that particular person. When we're recommending supplements.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Now we're talking about these twelve supplements that you can
take that are pretty almost perhaps for lack of a
better word, you might call them universal. If somebody comes
into you with a particular health issue going on, are
there other supplements that you use to treat somebody who
has maybe a specific health issue.

Speaker 6 (33:00):
Absolutely, yes, and so that's what is important. We have
over one hundred and forty different supplements specific two different
imbalances that people can develop physically, and we have I
think we have forty five different herbal supplements, and so
we have a lot within our apothecary, if you will,

(33:24):
that allows us to find out the specifics for the
individual that's coming for help, that sits in front of me,
and my job is to find a specific solution for
them and not just simply give them a one size
fits all.

Speaker 3 (33:36):
So and that's the process where you use that muscle
testing to test whether or not this particular supplement will
help their problem.

Speaker 6 (33:44):
Well, yeah, after we find where they have a problem,
we'll figure out, well, what is the nutritional component that
contributes to that imbalance, and then will choose that particular
supplement or supplements that may help to fill in that
deficiency and make their problem go away once and for all.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
Is there always a deficiency in that particular problem?

Speaker 6 (34:07):
Do you find I find that every person who comes
in with a health problem has some level of deficiency,
because all health problems are nutritional deficiencies. And how it
manifests for you may be different from how it manifests
from your neighbor, or how it manifests from a coworker
or even a family member, And so it's important to
evaluate the person as an individual and come up with

(34:29):
what are the specifics for that individual that's going to
help restore and return them back to health.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Well, this is a really important conversation, Doc, greg I
know we do this once a year at the end
of the year in December, but I really am appreciative
of what we're talking about today, and I know that
we have six more supplements that we want to cover.
But before we get to them, we need to take
a short commercial break to hear from our sponsor, the
Alternative Healthcare Network dot com. And when we get back,

(34:56):
i'd like to get into those last six.

Speaker 6 (34:59):
Absolutely look forward to it and we'll see on the
other side of the break.

Speaker 5 (35:03):

Speaker 5 (36:39):
You are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
So we've covered the first six supplements that you recommend,
and I must say they are excellent for helping people
to get to better health. So let's pick back up
from where we left off. And what is number seven.

Speaker 6 (36:55):
Number seven is a supplement called cataplex F. It's a
whole food vitamin F supplement to help the body store
calcium in the tissues and ultimately prevent sunburn.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
I don't remember learning about vitamin F.

Speaker 6 (37:10):
Yeah, because the government doesn't know how to manufacture a
vitamin F supplement that they can make profit off of
using chemicals, so they're unaware of it and they don't
focus on it and it's not widely known in the
healthcare industry.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
That's interesting. I mean there is cataplex C and cataplex F,
so they're both cataplexes. They are, and so what differentiates them.

Speaker 6 (37:33):
Well, one is a whole food vitamin F supplement and
the other is a whole food vitamin C supplement. They
serve different functions within the body and therefore have different
letter demarcations. So vitamin C, the whole food vitamin C
complex is called cataplex C, and vitamin F the whole

(37:55):
food vitamin F complex is called cataplex F. So you
have the the two different cataplexes, cataplex F and cataplex C.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
You might take both of those.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
I do myself, and I increase the cataplex F during
the summer months to keep my skin from burning when
I spend any time in the sun, because it takes
calcium out of the blood and puts it back in
the tissues so that your tissues aren't being damaged by
the overproduction of vitamin D that pulls calcium out of
the tissues and puts the calcium from the skin into

(38:28):
the blood. Well, vitamin F does the opposite of that.
It takes the calcium out of the blood and puts
it back in the tissues to restore and maintain tissue
calcium levels.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Okay, so now what's number eight.

Speaker 6 (38:42):
Number eight is the whole food supplement called vitamin B,
which is called get this, cataplex B. It represents the
second most important vitamin that is used in every physiological
functioning within the body and the nervous system to help
regulate things like heart rhythm and nerve function. So cataplex

(39:04):
B is a very very important vitamin. It's a water
soluble vitem similar to cataplex C, which is why we
need a lot of it in our body on a
regular basis. So there are.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Different cataplex formulations, each of it would address all these vitamins.
But the vitamins have been known to be necessary for
your health, but they don't all come in one one
pill or something. You have to actually break them down
into these different formulas.

Speaker 6 (39:35):
Well, doctor Lee, the founder of Standard Process Whole Food Supplements,
was a dentist who found a cure for cavities, a
cure for a cure for cavities in the nineteen twenties.
And so when he would talk to different doctors and
educate them on the purpose of whole food supplements and
how you want to support a person with whole food supplementation,

(39:57):
Catalan was their initial product. And so when doctors would
come to him and say, well, listen, I have somebody
that has the symptoms of a vitamin A deficiency. What
you have specifically for vitamin A because catalin helps their
overall health, but it doesn't seem to fix their vitamin
A deficiency. So he came up with cataplex A, and

(40:18):
then cataplex B, and then cataplex C and cataplex D
and cataplex E and cataplex F and cataplex G, and
so there's a bunch of different cataplexes and they all
have specific functions for remedying and imbalance that a person has.
So cataplex G, for instance, is a vasodilator and it

(40:43):
helps to expand the blood vessels, which naturally will lower
your blood pressure. Cataplex B, on the other hand, is
a vasoconstrictor, and that will cause the blood vessels to tighten,
which could potentially increase somebody's blood pressure. So if somebody
has high blood pressure, we may want to use cataplex
G to help combat that, but ultimately we're still going

(41:05):
to want to give them some cataplex B because cataplex
B is it's so important for making sure that the
nervous system works properly.

Speaker 3 (41:12):
Mm hmm, all right. So now we've gone through the BC,
the F and we're going to jump now into what's
number nine.

Speaker 6 (41:22):
Number nine is a natural antibacterial and that's called congoplex.
This helps to prevent and remove bacterial imbalances without destroying
the microbiome that leads to other health issues. And so
it's a vital component that one should take and keep
within their normal daily supplement regime. And again the reason

(41:46):
for that is is, you know, everybody is aware of
the antibacterial soaps and all of that kind of stuff.
What you need to understand is that's creating holes within
your immune defense system that's going to make you more
prone to having a bacteria get into your body. And
so having some congoplex circulating around on a regular basis

(42:07):
keeps any infections from actually bacterial infections from taking hold
and becoming out of balance.

Speaker 3 (42:14):
Mm hm, which you definitely would like to do that.
What's number ten?

Speaker 6 (42:19):
Number ten is the supplement everyone who has mucus issues
can benefit from, either as a preventative or as a
solution to having too much mucus. This supplement is called
fengri and it's actually fenu Greek seed powder that gets
into the system and eats up mucus and helps the
person not have mucus as a problem.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
M So how does it support the respiratory and siniself?
But it doesn't rely on an antihistamine.

Speaker 6 (42:47):
No, it drives out the consequences of being irritated that
leads to the histamine response and then the mucus response,
So it actually prevents that whole cascade from developing.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
So can antihistamines create new problems?

Speaker 6 (43:02):
They can, as histamine response is a natural response to
an irritant, but too much is a problem, So supporting
the body to prevent this from happening is important. Otherwise
you become a chronic histamine person. And I don't know
anybody who wants that.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
We're up to a number eleven. What's the eleventh supplement
that you recommend?

Speaker 6 (43:23):
The eleven supplement is a preventative and a problem solver
for people with food born illnesses or food poisonings. This
supplement helps to flush the gallbladder route and keeps the
bile duct open. This supplement is called choline, and I
recommend people keep this on hand as a preventative and
as a solution to any kind of food born illness

(43:44):
that they may pick up during the holidays or what
have you.

Speaker 3 (43:47):
So is that something that a person would take regularly
or just under specific circumstances.

Speaker 6 (43:52):
Well, I recommend that they only take it if you
have a sluggish gallbladder, and then taking it regularly keeps
the gall blader or honest, So that becomes important.

Speaker 3 (44:03):
So again, if somebody came to you with a gallbladder
issue that was having some kind of problem, that might
be something that you would actually recommend on a regular basis,
as opposed to as needed.

Speaker 6 (44:15):
Yeah, people who aren't willing to change what they're doing,
who are constantly creating gallbladder stress, then we're going to
have them be put on choline regularly, all.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
Right, So then I guess we're up to number twelve.
What's the number twelve? Oh?

Speaker 6 (44:31):
The next supplement to help people with thyroid issues would
be one called prolamine iodine. And this is an important
supplement but should not be started without proper supervision and
determine if it's right for the person to take, Otherwise
it could create hard symptoms and general feeling of unwell being.
So it's an iodine based supplement, and iodine is needed

(44:54):
for normal thyroid function.

Speaker 3 (44:56):
And I thought iodine was for scrapes and cuts, So
what are some the other reasons you need iodide?

Speaker 6 (45:01):
Well, iodine is good to help stop infection when you
get scrapes or cuts, but iodine is needed for thyroid
to regulate the balance of the metabolism. It's a vital
mineral we need to regulate and most people are deficient
since our food is deficient, and so supporting somebody with
a prolamine iodine would potentially go a long way towards

(45:22):
restoring balance to their metabolic pathways.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
Now, all the supplements we talked about, are they all
food based?

Speaker 6 (45:30):
They are marked. They're God's first medicine, and it's always
been food has always been God's first medicine. So food
based supplements is important and it's the reason why we
recommend them and have used them personally for over forty
five years. And you know, at the end of the day,

(45:52):
if you use God's first medicine to support your body
to be healthy, then you will be healthy.

Speaker 3 (45:58):
And one of the benefits of taking food based products
is they really don't have any side effects.

Speaker 6 (46:04):
Do they Well, they do not have side effects if
they are needed by the body and they are taken
in the correct dosages for the individual. And so this
is why you need someone who is versed in all
of these different supplements and has a method to determine
if they are right for you and if so, what
is the specific dosage specific to your body.

Speaker 3 (46:23):
So that's important because it would be possible if you
do this on your own, you might be able to
you might be taking too many and could that cause
a problem.

Speaker 6 (46:31):
Well, most likely not, but you shouldn't take anything in excess,
and it stresses the system too much. And so we
don't want to stress your system too much. We want
it to be like baby Bear where everything is just
right now.

Speaker 3 (46:45):
Not all practitioners that are out there who are doing
holistic health would necessarily be able to help evaluate your
needs on this basis, would they not necessarily?

Speaker 6 (46:56):
It just depends upon what their training is and do
they put their training into practice on a regular basis.
There's lots of people who go take seminars, they get
their certification, but they just go back to treating people
the way that they always do. But they have another diploma,
if you will, or certificate they can put up on
their wall to make them look more important. I've been

(47:18):
doing manual muscle testing and using Standard Process whole food
supplements for forty five years. I started when I was sixteen,
and I saw the benefit of it, and so I've
actually used them to guide me through my health education
and taking supplements or taking seminars that are supported or

(47:39):
sponsored by Standard Process because I know that whatever I'm
going to learn is going to benefit me and is
going to be recommending as a solution the whole food
supplements that Standard Process manufactures, and.

Speaker 3 (47:54):
This approach would be preferable to having to go down
and route of taking medications or having to go into surgery. Oh.

Speaker 6 (48:02):
Absolutely, If you do it this way, you'll probably avoid
all the unnecessary medications and or surgery from a lack
of proper support and the failing of the body. When
you give the body what it needs, it runs very well,
and it will run very well for a very long time.
And when a body isn't running properly, it's it's because
it's lacking the ingredients. It's just like a little three

(48:24):
year old that has a temper tantrum. They're lacking something
that they believe that they need. And so when the
body has a temper tantrument, it responds with inflammation that
ultimately ends up leading to some sort of disease process growing.
And when you've lost greater than sixty percent of normal functioning,
then you qualify for medical intervention. But to lose greater

(48:47):
than sixty percent of normal functioning, I guess to me
it makes sense that you should probably get in front
of that as opposed to chasing it. And the way
to get in front of it is to exercise your
right to some of these whole food supplements. After having
a proper evaluation.

Speaker 3 (49:03):
I mean, it seems so radical that you would actually
start to take ownership of your own health rather than
relying on some expert to do that for you.

Speaker 6 (49:11):
I don't see it as being radical as all. We're
all given a body, and we all need to own
it and take care of it, and we don't necessarily
We need to be properly informed and educated on how
to take care of it. And then once we do that,
then you know, I, for the most part, I take
care of ninety nine percent of the things that I

(49:33):
can take care of for my body. The other one
percent is me actually going to a chiropractor and getting
a spinal manipulation because I can't do that to my
own spine.

Speaker 3 (49:44):
Now, in terms of the supplement, should everyone take the
twelve supplements.

Speaker 6 (49:48):
Only if they fail? It's important I use all the
ones I need and as a result, I've not been
sick in over thirty years. So you, the listener, should
decide which makes more sense to you. Do you want
to combat sickness by going out and getting sickness and
then trying to solve it, or do you want to
give your body the ingredients that it needs on a

(50:09):
regular basis and never get sick.

Speaker 3 (50:12):
I suppose I would rather not get sick at all,
so you could take all of these supplements. But if
I have a health issue, I would need to find
what supplements are really right for me, wouldn't I absolutely?

Speaker 6 (50:25):
And the way you do that would be to come
and have an evaluation and we'll discover what supports you
specifically together. And wouldn't it be nice in order for
you to see for yourself where your deficiencies are, what's
going to fill in those deficiencies, what the specific dose is,
and actually come up with a plan specific for you
to restore your health. It's important that everyone out there

(50:49):
listening can benefit from dietary supplements, especially if you eat
the food in the United States has sold in the
grocery stores, because all of that food has been stepped on,
has been refined, has been modified in some way, shape
or form. It's interesting. I have patients that have recently

(51:09):
emigrated to the United States from Europe and they have
you know, they're making a life in the United States
for a certain percentage of the year, and they're going
to go back to Europe the other percentage of the year.
And we had a discussion the other day of what
the difference is between food here versus food where they
live or in Europe. And they're like, it's like night

(51:31):
and day. I can't believe that the United States food
is just as terrible as it is. You'd think that
the United States has the best food in the world.
And I'm like, well, if you understand the healthcare industry,
then you would understand why it isn't the best food
in the world because they're interested in you know, they
got the Food and Drug Administration, which helps to regulate drugs,

(51:51):
and they're more interested in selling drugs to make passive
income with less interventions. So yeah, it's important knowing that
we live here in the US know that you're gonna
need to supplement and uh, you want to do that
before you develop health issues rather than after. But either way,
you're in charge. I'm just here to help and I

(52:12):
would be happy to help you. So Mark's giving me
the signal letting me know that we're just about out
of time. I want to remind the listener how they
can get a hold of me if they have any questions.
They can get a hold of me by calling my
cell phone directly at area code eight four five five
six one two two two five again eight four five
five six one two two two five. They can text

(52:36):
that phone number, but it may take a minute for
me to get back to your text wise, just because
I don't typically communicate that way. You can email me
directly at doc Rick at spineboy dot com. That's Doc
ri c k at spineboy dot com. Or you can
certainly stop in and meet me personally. We're at one
thirty eight Canal Street in Pooler Park. That is in Pooler, Georgia.

(52:59):
We're in sweet four zero four of building four hundred,
and it certainly would be my pleasure to help you
to better understanding what the concerns you have. And I
want to thank you for your time and effort, and
I wish you happy holidays and uh happy New Year
to you.

Speaker 1 (53:14):
Early see my position, he said, you're definitely ill. Then
to the nurse. I've seen worse than the doctor. Just
gave me a pill. Take one of those three times
a day. Don't ever stop until you're dirty, dead or
almost better.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
Keep out of the region children, the things that might
be some side effect you even probably will.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
Well limits of fact, you can't come back. And I
give you one another pill, on top of that, on
top of that, on top of that, on top of that,
on top of.

Speaker 2 (53:43):
That, on top of that, and then he showed me
his bill. I popped another pillet out.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
Of the headache has become a pain in the butt.
What was just an itchy finger?

Speaker 6 (53:58):
That was a.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
Swollen foot, Doctor, ripe banana bread. And I've never walked
up a hill. Avoid all die from exercise.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
I'd rather give you a pill. I bring some mighty
some side effects. Being the probably willed welllive, it's a fact.
Just come back and I'll give you another pill. On
top of that, on top of that, on top of that,
on top of that, on top of that, on top
of that. Then he showed me his bill. I popped
another pill. I looked down the internet, checked down the

(54:30):
medical site.

Speaker 2 (54:31):
He said, you may not be depressive, but then again
you might get you're worried than you are.

Speaker 1 (54:37):
Then take this simple test. Obvious people need a pill.
You know how one is best.

Speaker 2 (54:42):
The thing is that might be some side effects, or
I have that before I've been rushing back.

Speaker 1 (54:47):
To the doctor. He said, are you looking for more
