show designed to empower you to better health through knowledge
and education. And I'm your host, doctor Richard Untun from
Advanced Alternative Medicine Center. And here's my partner for the show,
your health advocate Mark.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Sayeah, once again, it's hard to believe that we are
at the end of another year. This is the end
of twenty twenty five. What's the big theme that you
see emerging for us for health in twenty twenty six?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Well, Mark, uh, happy earlier new year to you.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, we're almost there, almost there.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Health solutions are going to begin to explode as more
and more influence will be based on what is called
artificial intelligence or AI, and people will continue to wake
up to wanting better health outcomes. So it will be
a year to wake up and commit better to your health.
Many families and friends will transition to the next chapter
(02:24):
of their spiritual lives, and those who stay will be
motivated to keep evolving physically, emotionally, spiritually. So it's all
about understandings and awarenesses, becoming more top of mind consciousness,
and then people making the choice to either make the
(02:45):
change that they need to make or succumb to the
choices of not choosing to change.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
So what kind of changes should you consider about moving
forward with your health this year?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Identify what is a problem, whether big or small, and
choose to seek out a to enhance your ability to
continue on in your life. Stop the insanity of making
bad health choices and begin to ask for help. Take
a course, go to a class, subscribe to a service,
and broaden your understanding and make better choices for your health.
And be patient with yourself as you implement the change,
(03:19):
because change is going to take time, depending upon how
long you've neglected the need for change.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
That's true, I mean a lot of people are pretty
anxious these days. What do you suggest for people who
want to ease some of that anxiety.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Well, for starters, they should stop eating the sugar. They
should make better food choices. They should drink more water
and find a way to ground themselves so that they
are more stable and have a stronger foundation or base,
if you will, so that their thoughts don't get out
(03:56):
of hand and create too much anxiety.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
You know, I'm sort of wondering if there are changes
in people's health patterns that you're noticing these days.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Well, as I said, there are two camps of people,
those who are given the chance to help themselves and
make the changes they need to make, and then there
are those who make excuses not to get help, they
lack faith in their life process, and I'm sad for
those people. And like I said, there is a camp
of people who are interested in understand their responsibility to
(04:30):
their own health and will start on their path and
make positive health changes. They will seek guidance and they
will be active in creating changes within their health and
they commit to the process of change.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
So you talk about the different camps, and I'm just wondering,
you know, if people are in one camp, if they're
feeling like their immune systems are weakening, and is that
something that you see generally happening.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Well, I definitely see that, and the reason for it
is all the trap food that will offered, the white
refined sugar, the poor food choices, and running themselves down,
and what they end up doing is they end up
eroding their immune system. And they do it because they're
stressed out, and they're stressed out because they're not putting
quality ingredients in and they're not prioritizing themselves and their
(05:19):
health as the priority should be their biggest priority. And
once you get stable with taking care of yourself, then
all the other things that you have to contend with
will categorize themselves as either being important or not being important.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Yeah, I mean it seems like I think nearly half
of the country is dealing with some sort of health
problem right now. So clearly something about what we're doing
is not working.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yeah, the understanding of what is being offered to help
people not the medications or the procedure, but actually choices
that are new, different or even traditional methods from over
a century ago to help people find balance in health.
We have forgotten what we did before medication became the
false solution.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Now. I know you talk a lot about proactive health,
which is kind of a positive approach to health. How
do you start cultivating that well?
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Positive health is anything that has a positive health benefit
for the individual. This means long term and not for
the moment. To cultivate that, you have to become interested
in learning and expanding your knowledge base and be open
to new learning and application. But you definitely have to
apply it.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
I mean, if somebody feels pretty stuck about where they are,
how do they turn their health momentum around.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
They need to start mark they need to start to
expand their knowledge base and their understanding, and then you
need to begin to apply that new knowledge and make
it your number one priority. Because if you don't have
your health, you might as well be dead.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Wow. Okay, so if somebody doesn't want to be dead,
how do you help them improve their health outcomes?
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Well, help by start by giving them the understanding of
where they are and then clarify where they want to
go health wise, understand how important their health is, and
if they make it a priority, then change can begin
to happen. And appreciate that change takes time and comes
in steps and stages.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Now, for a lot of people, since we talked about
half the people in the country being on having some
kind of health problem, probably most of those are on
some kind of medication. So how do you deal with
the fact that if you are on medication, you're going
to be almost assuredly seeing side.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Effects you are, And so if you want to avoid
those side effects, you need to support the body to
replace the reason for the medication, understand, get to the
cause of the problem, and strive to get off to
medication as your health continues to improve. And I can
certainly help you with that, and I can give you
resources in which to understand the healthy way and get
(07:55):
the proper permissions in order to reduce or eliminate your medications.
But it's going to require a desire from you, the listener,
to want to make these health changes that you don't
want to be on these medications that come with all
the harmful side effects as you continue to take them
over time, and you watch your health slowly deteriorate, and
(08:16):
then you wonder how you ended up where you ended up. Well,
if you have any level of passion for wanting to
continue your life and continue your life in a positive way,
then you need to have somebody that's going to be
able to help you do that. And I certainly offer
services that will allow people to do that. And if
you don't have any other resources, then by all means,
(08:37):
certainly contact me. You can contact me directly through my
email which is doc ricdc Riick at spineboy dot com.
And let's start a conversation and let's go from there.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Well, you know, you talk about the fact that you
want to be able to maybe get rid of these
side effects, but what about pain? I mean, pain is
a problem that effects a lot of people. There are
a lot of you know, over the counter medications you
can take for your pain. So is there a way
to relieve that pain without relying on any of those painkillers?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Absolutely, and I do it in the office every single day.
And for some they need help themselves by getting proper support.
And so when you have a situation health wise that
you don't want to experience any more of, then you
need to start by getting an education on why you
have the condition that you have, What are all the
contributors to why you have the condition that you have,
(09:29):
in other words, what is causing the condition? And then
I will help you develop a plan to get out
of that circumstance and that situation. And it's going to
require the commitment by you for you so that things
can change. And all change is going to take some time.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Now, when did I mean, because we talk all about
this a lot, that the healthcare system is more about
sickness care and monitoring and managing that. When did that
shift happen? Instead of taking care of making people healthy,
it's about managing the fat that they get sick all
the time.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Well, when Carnegie and Rockefeller financed medical schools to teach
about taking medication as a primary method of bypassing what
is required to restore health. So for a little over
one hundred and twenty years or so, that's been the
push for what goes on in society. And so we
used to have a thing called the Healthy Food Act
that was around in nineteen oh eight, and we've been
(10:30):
violating the Healthy Food Act continuously since the early nineteen
thirties when they rewrote all the rules that became the
Food and Drug Administration with the emphasis on drugs and
the emphasis on destroying the actual food that we have
in an effort to create a longer shelf life and
more opportunity to transport it from one end of the
(10:53):
country to the other.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
Now, somebody is interested in improving their health this year
coming up, where do they begin.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Well, if you have the desire, you now need to
put a plan in place to expand your desire into
health opportunities, and you need to take action and then
refine those actions and create a system for yourself and
your health to continually improve. You know, people look at
what I do on a daily basis and they're like,
(11:22):
I could never do that, and I agree with them,
they could never do what I'm doing in their present form.
But if they start to implement, implement incremental change a
little bit at a time, then what will end up
happening is things will begin to change. And as they
begin to change, then you can add more to it.
And eventually you'll be doing your version of what I
do for me and what is my version? And then
(11:45):
you'll be the master of your own domain and you'll
be in charge of controlling your health outcomes and how
you participate in life.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Well, I guess to get to those health outcomes you want,
you really want to be able to have goals. And
why is it important to set those, you know, specific
goals instead of just hoping for things to improve.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Well, without something to work on specifically, it simply becomes
a wish and a hope. And in those cases, nothing
really changes. If you don't have a set of steps
in which to take, if you don't have an action plan,
if you don't have something that you're striving towards, then
you probably aren't going to get there because it's very
non specific, and the universal powers or God, if you will,
(12:33):
doesn't have an ability to approach something that's very non specific.
So I'm sure we're going to get into that. But
if you don't have a goal, then it just becomes
a wish or a hope.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Well, if you're already sick, I mean, what good are
those goals going to do you're already down that path.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Well, having a health goal will help you transcend your
sickness and using the sickness to motivate you to better
choices and experience better outcomes. You know, the sickness is
now you understand where you're starting from. You have a sickness,
and then you become aware of the fact that you
don't like the sickness. You don't like how it makes
you feel, you don't like how it makes you treat others, etc.
(13:10):
And you don't want to isolate yourself because of your sickness,
So you have to have the desire to want to
create change. And once you have that desire, and that
desire becomes a large desire that you're passionate about in
terms of changing your outcomes, well, good, now you're going
to get on the path and making those changes.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Well, I mean, I think that for a lot of
people setting goals and objectives like that that seem perhaps
unattainable is a scary proposition.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Well, we don't know if we'll be successful and end
up making things harder than they need to be to
fulfill the belief that the goals are hard. You need
to understand that a goal is easy to accomplish a
goal just as it's easy to accomplish failure. One requires
effort and one requires passivity. If you're putting in the effort,
(14:01):
I don't care what kind of effort it is, it
is going to change your outcomes. And then based upon
you creating change in your outcomes, then you just need
to focus it in the direction that you want to
go and don't accept the position that you're in.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Well, it seems like a lot of people really have
a fear of success, almost like there's more fear of
success than there is fear of failure.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Well, yeah, because they have an underlying emotional belief that
they are not entitled to being successful, and we need
to help people overcome that because at the end of
the day, you can look at where a person is
currently and even if things aren't the way that they
want them to be, they're still successful by just merely existing.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
I mean, how do you get over that hump if
that is what some people are facing, is that it
just that fear of failure will prevent you from even
trying to get to the goal.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Well, it saves people the effort of trying and then failing,
and it makes them right about failailure before they even start.
But what you got to understand is, you know the
wonderful inventor, I think the most successful inventor in the
history of humanity, Thomas Edison. You know he failed. The
story is is he failed over ten thousand times to
create the light bulb that we find in everybody's home.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
That's a lot of failure.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
And he didn't let the failure deter him. He was
just like, no, now I know what doesn't work, which
means that I'm getting closer to understanding what does work.
And he wasn't going to let anybody's counterintention nor the
quote failures, which he didn't term failures at all. He
had successfully defined another way to not get to his
(15:41):
ultimate goal, and that him focusing on it being another
success of getting him closer, instead of focusing on it
being another failure that's preventing him from getting closer. He
had the right outlook, and outlook is everything when you're
taking action.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
I mean, if you're looking it being able to move forward,
and you're thinking about Okay, I tried that, it didn't work.
I can try something else in it and maybe it
works or maybe it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Well, what did I learn from the failure that I
had in that initial attempt? Okay, how do I have
to modify it? And if I modify it, then well,
now I get to try again because I modified it. Well,
the modification didn't get me where I wanted to be. Okay,
So the first step wasn't good, the second step wasn't good.
What did I learn about taking those two steps? And okay, Well,
what's the third attempt that I'm going to make? And
(16:29):
it may happen in one attempt, it may happen in
thousands of attempts, but at the end of the day,
what is your motivation and are are you impassioned by
what the potential goal is? And uh that that that's
important for you to have that passion and cultivate that passion.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
I mean. And one of the things that you recommended
kind of what this conversation is about today as we
as we welcome in the next year, is you recommend
setting goals, setting health goals at this time of year,
and that it's a very powerful thing to do and
move yourself into the next phase.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Yeah, because if you fail the plan, then you plan
to fail. And so I encourage people to have a
plan and to work out their plan and to make
it successful and to keep working your plan until it
becomes successful. And I'm sure we're going to go over
what those steps are, but it starts by having a plan.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
And does that goal setting really make a measurable difference
in somebody's health outcomes?
Speaker 2 (17:31):
Well, only if you follow through with clear plan for
success and if it happens to be about your health,
then absolutely. And having somebody like me in your corner
and being a cheerleader and a coach both at the
same time, I will help you navigate through the mindfield
that is your health choices and to help you get
through the field without stepping on any mind.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
Well, this is a great introduction to the conversation because
I want to get into the ten step goal setting
method that you have and that you advocate for your patients.
But before we do, we do need to take a
short commercial break to hear from our general sponsor. When
we get back, let's get into the media of this subject.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Absolutely, but please listen to commercial from a general sponsor.
You're listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network dot com.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
You are listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
If you're currently suffering from any health concern and you're
not getting the results you're looking for, please feel free
to call me directly at area code eight four to
five five six one two two two five again eight

you can email me directly at docric at spineboy dot com.
That's Doc Riick at spine boy dot com, and I
(18:44):
look forward to serving your healthcare needs naturally.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
You're listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
So, Doc, we're talking about this ten step goal setting method.
How did you first come up with it?
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Well, I studied successful people and took many seminars and
listen to many tape series about goals and success and
what it takes to be successful. And I continue to
do that today. There isn't a time where I'm not
looking to upgrade and improve my current situation. And I
take the understandings that I have and the trials and
(19:17):
tribulations that I've been through, and I try to help
my client base not experience the same mistakes that I've made.
I try to streamline their process so that they can
get successful outcomes faster than it took me to get
my successful outcomes. But at the end of the day,
it's just about you know, if you spend time with
(19:39):
successful people, then you're going to learn from them, even
if it's through osmosis, and you'll eventually become a successful
person too. Why Because successful people help other people become successful.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
That's part of the mission there goes on. Now, is
this goal setting method a list of thou shalt knots?
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Actually it's the opposite of that. Mark. We want to
focus on where you are going and not what to avoid,
and you will change the outcome by changing the focus.
And so if you're focusing on where you're going and
what the goal is, and you can feel the outcome
and feel the goal, then that's going to add to
the fuel to get you started and move through the process.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
So, if you're visualizing something that you want to happen,
does that actually help people achieve those goals?
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Oh, if you're consistent, the answer is yes. Visualization is
a big part of the outcome of the goal process.
And when you visualize having achieved the goal and what
it looks like and assessing who you are now and
what's changed, and how are you being that's different, and
what are you doing in the process and what are
you having as a result, then yeah, that'll motivate you
(20:48):
and that will help make the visualization that much more clear.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
So you're actually already envisioning that it's completed and that
you're in this at the point of success.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Correct.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Should the goals that you set up? Should they be simple?
Should they be detailed? What should they look like?
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Well, the big picture is simple, and you will need
to be detailed as you get into the nuts and
bolts of the process, and so it's important to take
the time to be as specific as possible. You know,
the difference between saying, well, I want to make more money.
That's a very generalized goal. If you make a penny
(21:28):
more than you did before, then you actually achieved your goal.
But a penny isn't going to make that much of
a difference. In fact, I don't think they're printing pennies anymore.
They just stopped. It's like, okay, so what is your
goal And hopefully it's a little significant, and hopefully it's
a little bit scary and it's a little bit uncomfortable,
and it's outside of what your normal reaches, and that's
(21:49):
what should inspire you. And it's like I had a
patient in my office earlier today who is a little
uncomfortable with the new group of people that she ends
up supporting in her jail because they're all people where
money is not an issue for any of her clients.
And she doesn't know how to accept an increase in
pay because she's never been paid as much as she's
(22:12):
being paid now. And so my advice to her was,
instead of setting a fee schedule for them, ask them
to solve your problem for you by asking them, what
is it worth for you for me to do this
to help you? And you pay me what you think
is worth, because they're going to pay her more than
(22:32):
she expects, and they're probably even going to give her
more pay than what they think it's worth, simply because
she's the one doing the work and giving them the
freedom to come up with what that pay schedule is.
And people who are very affluent don't have issues with money.
That's not their problem in life, and so they're willing
to use the money that they have as a tool
(22:54):
to get them the things that they actually do value
and does have importance for them.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
So, I mean, you know, one of the things that's
kind of sticking in my mind about what you Gus
said is that the fact that this goal setting process
might feel a little scary, is that a reason to
avoid doing it? Is that a reason that you should
actually step forward and into the fear that you might have.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Oh, you should face the fear and do it anyway.
I mean, that was a tape series that I listened
to for a while, and I listened to it over
and over and over again. That helped me disavow myself
of allowing fear to get in the way. There are
a couple of different acronyms about what fear represents you know,
it's the fear based acronym for fear is f everything
(23:42):
and run. Okay, The logical aspect is is false evidence
appearing real. And then the real one that motivates people
is is face everything and rise. And when you face
everything and rise, then you're going to go through the
different goals steps that we're going to go over right now.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Now. In terms of those goals, what's the best way
to express them? Should you write them down? Is it
enough to speak about them or think about them or
something else?
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Well, you want to think about them, and you want
to get clear thoughts. And the way to get those
clear thoughts is to take those thoughts and put them
into writing and so that you can see them outside
of your head in front of you on paper. And
then as you're writing them, you want to speak them.
And that is the law of manifestation thought, word and
then deed. And so you want to think about them,
then you want to commit them to word, and then
(24:33):
you want to do the work. And that's about speaking
about them everywhere you go, anytime you go. And just
the more people you can share what it is that
you're accomplishing, the more you're going to basically isolate yourself
from those who don't believe in your ability to accomplish
that or aren't going to support your goals, and those
it's important for you to find out who those people
(24:54):
are so you can separate yourself from the naysayers, and
then you're going to find a different group of people
who want to support your goal and want to champion
you and cheer you on and push you through the process.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Yeah, what about you talk about putting them into language?
What about things pictures like people use vision boards and
things like that, to those make a difference.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
They do is they give you a felt sense of
the outcome of the goal and keeps you inspired while
going through the manifestation process. And so we used to
do vision boards in a particular seminar that I used
to go to, which is where the doctors went to
go get their own healing, and part of that was
creating a vision board. And we would spend the whole
morning creating a vision board, and the facilitators of the
(25:39):
seminar would have a whole bunch of different magazines, all
popular magazines and some not so popular magazines, and you'd
grab a stack of magazines and you'd go through them
and you'd try to find pictures within the magazines that
represented an aspect of what it is that you wanted goalwise,
and then you'd cut them out and you put them
on your vision board. And then at the end of
the process is we would all post our vision boards
(26:04):
and we would go around the room and look at
everybody else's vision board and support them by champion their
vision boards. And you know, if everybody did that for
everybody in the room, then now you have a whole
group of people that support your goal that you intend
to accomplish, and it just gives more energy to you
starting the process.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Now, one of the things that goes on with the
goals that you write down this is sort of a
grammar question, really, the tents that you write them in.
You want to write them in the present tents, don't you.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Absolutely, you are starting in the present tense, and that
is all you have control overs. So by starting by
writing your goals is they've already existed. That shortens the
manifestation process, since your brain always creates in the present moment,
and so if you're acting like the goal is already completed,
then your body starts to manifest the reality of that,
(27:02):
and it puts out the energy outside of the physical
body to help the external world line up with your
internal world. It's all an internal process, but it manifests externally,
but it all starts internally and it's all controlled internally.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Interesting. Interesting. So, since we're at the starting point and
we add this is a great introduction. What is the
first step of this goal setting process?
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Well, number one, you need to decide what it is
that you want to accomplish. You need to decide that
you know, this is the thing that I really want
to experience, this is the outcome that I really want
to manifest, This is the thing that really gets my
energy up and excites me, et cetera. And so I'm
going to write down in present tense that this is
the goal that I'm looking to accomplish with. I don't
(27:48):
just want to wake more money. I want to make
ten thousand dollars more money in the next six months.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
I mean, isn't that kind of obvious to write down
what you want like that?
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Is it obvious? For so much any It isn't. And
that's why they don't take to end up achieving their goals,
is because it's not obvious for them that they should
write down what the goal is. And so I appreciate
the statement that isn't it quite obvious? But for a
lot of people, they're not successful because they never actually
take the time to do the first step, which is
(28:17):
to write it down.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
So when you write it down, I mean, how specific
does somebody have to be in order to get that
goal chosen.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Well, it needs to be as specific as you can get.
Anything less is not specific and will derail the process,
and no one wants that right out of the box.
And so if you say you want to make more money,
that's not very specific. If you say you want to
make ten thousand dollars more, well that's very specific, and
you will know when you've made ten thousand dollars more
because you will actually have the results to look at.
(28:46):
But if you just say I want to make more money,
that's not specific, and it could be a dollar more,
it could be a million dollars more. But you have
to set that goal and you have to make it evident.
If you want to do it. Around weight management, okay,
whatever you're weight is, okay, I want to lose I
don't know I need to lose one hundred pounds, but
I don't. That's kind of overwhelming. So you know what,
(29:08):
I'm going to set a goal. I want to lose
five pounds, and then I'm going to set that goal
another twenty times, and then I will have lost one
hundred pounds, but I will have done it in steps
that are easier for me to believe that I'm going
to actually achieve them.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
M hmmmm, well that's great. So what is the number
two step?
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Well, determine a deadline for accomplishing a goal. Make that specific,
and set your intention for accomplishing your goal by that deadline.
Because without a deadline, it just becomes a hope or
a wish.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
So how does that date actually help you focus in
on what you're doing.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Well, it makes it real, and it makes it more
powerful and urgent, and then you can get to work
on that itself. If you have a big calendar and
you put on the calendar the date that you intend
to accomplish that goal, well good, then now you get
to meet that goal during the time between now and
when you've set that actual date.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Let's put some pressure on you. What's number three?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Number three is very very important. You need to determine
that the goal is believable to you. Don't think you're
going to create something that is that either you have
never experienced or don't have an example of someone having
already achieved it. You need you need to understand that
the goal is real and it's believable. And and so
(30:29):
that was like my patient earlier today. She's hanging out
with people where money is not a problem for them,
and she's having a hard time figuring out how she
can make money not a problem for her. And I'm
just like, just talk to the people that you're you're
helping and help them. They're successful, guess what they like
to be around other successful people, and they will take
(30:51):
you on as a pet project, so to speak. You're
helping them. The least they can do is is show
you how to get to where it is that you
want to go. And and so by being surrounded by
people that have already achieved the goal that you want,
well then it becomes more real for you. And so
determine that the goal that you are going to achieve
is believable to you, and just know that you need
(31:14):
to start from there.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
And stay out of the realm of false fope.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Well, how do you do that. Well, that's the whole
purpose of making it real to you is so that
you do stay out of that false hope.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
Yeah, what's number four?
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Number four is where are you now? Knowing where you
were starting from before taking action is similar to telling
your GPS where you want to go. The GPS will
automatically begin by where you are before mapping out the
course to take. Goal setting is the same. Determine where
you are starting from. And once you know where you're
starting from and you know where it is that you
(31:47):
want to go, Okay, now you can start to truly
map out what it is that you're going to do
in order to get to where you want to go.
Because you know where you're starting from.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
But what if I don't like where I'm starting from?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
What if I'm discontent, Well, all the more reason to
acknowledge where you are. People don't take action when they
feel happy about where they are. People change when change
becomes an absolute necessity. And so if you're not happy
where you are, that's the universe basically acknowledging that, Okay,
it's time for change. You need to get up off
your duff and you need to change from where you
(32:19):
are to where it is that you want to be
that feels better and appears better and that you'll enjoy more.
Speaker 1 (32:27):
I mean, I mean with somebody who's say, in a
really a significant health crisis and they feel like they're
too far gone that change isn't going to be possible.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
We'll start there and allow the possibility and how you
would feel if those things change positively. It all starts
with a feeling of something new and exciting. No one
chooses to invest in things that are miserable, so you
have to find something that actually inspires you, even if
you don't know that it's going to be possible. Yeah,
everybody should want to have better health health, but wanting
(33:01):
to have better health versus choosing to have better health.
The wants pushes it away from you. The choosing of
it draws it closer to you.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
That's interesting. Now, what's number five?
Speaker 2 (33:12):
What obstacles do you need to overcome? There will be
plenty when creating something new because it is new. You
shouldn't expect things to come that. You should expect things
to come up that you'll ultimately have to overcome. And
when that happens, know that your universe is helping you
to expand and grow because to if you want things
(33:32):
to be different, then you need to expect to do
things differently. And when you're doing things differently, there's going
to be a learning curve to that doing things differently.
And it's not habitual yet, you haven't ingrained it within
your nervous system. And so new learning should be exciting.
Why because you're getting out of your own stagnant patterns
and if the old stagnant patterns haven't gotten you to
(33:54):
where it is that you would like to be. It's funny,
you know. I've spent some time climbing some very big mountains.
I did not climb Mount Everest, but I did mountain
bike to Mount ever Space Camp and I got to
visually see Mount Everest in front of me, and that
was very inspiring. And then there was another example where
I went down to Argentina and I climbed the highest
(34:15):
mountain in the Western world, known as Aconcagua. And having
gotten to the top of that mountain and standing there
and seeing that there was nothing in my awareness, nothing
that I could see that was higher than I was.
That was pretty awe inspiring and that was pretty exciting
to experience, and the reward for having taken all the
(34:38):
steps that I need to in order to get there.
And so when you have a sense of where it
is that you're going and what it is that you're accomplishing, etc. Yeah,
may be arduous, and it may be repetitive, and it
may take a little while, but if you keep your
eye on the goal, then then you know it's going
to be worth it.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
It's kind of like a hero's journey that you're taking.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Really, yeah, hero's journey. And but what's important is is
that you need to believe that you can be a
hero to accomplish your goal and how that will feel
once it is accomplished, and set out on a hero's journey,
even if you don't see yourself as being a hero,
become one.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
This is a great conversation, Doc Grig. We need to
take a short commercial break to hear from our sponsor,
the Alternative Healthcare Network dot com. When we get back,
I know there are five more of these stages for
this goal setting process that I want to get into,
but before we do, we do need to hear it
from this from our commercial sponsor.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
Hery listening to the Alternative Healthcare Network.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
If you're currently suffering from any health concern and you're
not getting the results you're looking for. Please feel free
to call me directly at area code eight four to
five five six one two two two five again eight
four five five six one two two two five, or
you can email me directly at doc Gric at spineboy
dot that's doc ick at spineboy dot com, and I
(36:02):
look forward to serving your health care needs.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
Naturally you're listening to the Alternative healthcare network.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
You know, before the break, we were talking about the
hero's journey and that there can be obstacles in a way.
So how do you keep from getting frustrated by the
delays that happen as you're approaching your goal.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Well, you should expect them and see that as creating
new neurological pathways to accomplish your goal and get excited
by the new growth. And when there is some kind
of delay or some kind of a barrier that you
have to overcome, it's a chance for new learning and
new growth, and you should get excited by that because
guess what. Now, you definitely know that you're on a
(36:41):
hero's journey and you're on a new path and this
is a physical representation of the fact that you're taking
a new path and you're creating a new outcome.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
Well, got I mean don't you get in your own
way sometimes? And how do you avoid that?
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Well, you can by staying focused and allowing the passion
of accomplishing your goal to overwhelm your self doubt and
getting in your own way. And it's like Okay, yeah,
I'm probably gonna get in my way and expect that.
And when you do get in your own way, it's like, okay,
look here it is, I'm gonna get in my own way.
How do I get around that? How do I get
over that? Well? Sometimes the only way around or over
(37:17):
is through. And so you're going to have to confront
yourself and you're going to have to confront your limiting
beliefs and you're going to have to create new beliefs
and expanded understandings. And then with that expanded understandings, then
you can take new action and you can find a
way to overcome whatever the circumstance is.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
M Now that's the five of the ten. So what
is number six on this goal setting process?
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Well, what knowledge or material will you need to acquire
in order to achieve your goal? This is vital and
important to understand. Change requires new information and new understanding
before application. So you should look forward to learning and
applying you new learning. And the new learning may be difficult,
why because it's new, But have compassion for yourself, be
(38:03):
patient with yourself and be excited by the new learning
and take the time to learn it. I have a
friend of mine right now who is trying to do
some coding to help create an app that's going to
help to benefit so much, so many people within the world.
And we had dinner the other night and we discussed it.
(38:23):
And the funny thing about it was was that his
artificial intelligence that he was paying for to help him
design this new app kept having him go over the
parts that he'd already accomplished, and he had to tell
the AI to move on to what is the next
step within the process instead of going over what we've
(38:45):
already accomplished. And so it's you know, the fact that
he had to pay for however much time he was
using the AI was a little bit frustrating for him.
But you know, you have to focus on the big picture.
So I got him to focus on the big picture.
I said, well, when you get this, I really appreciate
what it is that you're trying to create, and it
looks like you've you know, because you're in the industry.
(39:07):
It looks like you've figured out all the bells and
whistles that it's going to create value for somebody. And
when you're ready to launch it, I already have some
people that you can go talk to about it. I'll
make the introduction and I think that they would benefit
from what it is that you're creating, and that'll help
get your whole project off the ground.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
Well, now, I mean, it's it's good to know that
you don't have to have all the answers before you start.
That you can come in there and say, you know,
I don't know what I need to know. So really
it's about figuring out what are the right questions you're
going to have to ask.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
Right, you should expect to not have all the answers
when you start, and that's the whole purpose of setting
new goals. They invite expanding your consciousness and creating and
expanded understanding from a limited belief system into a larger
belief system, a more encompassing belief system and a more
encompassing outcome.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
And even if I don't know what it was, and
I didn't realize what I was going to need.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Well, that's part of the process, making adjustments as they
pop up. And this is part of the learning process,
and you should welcome it and you should embrace it,
and you should say, well, yeah, here's something that I
don't understand, which is why I'm butting up against it,
and so what do I have to do to transcend
that and overcome it?
Speaker 1 (40:19):
So what's the number seven?
Speaker 2 (40:22):
What organizations and groups should you associate with? And by
associating with others that have already accomplished what you desire
will help you to mentor you to your success. Successful people,
as I said before, like to help others become successful.
It adds to their success. And so it's important to
surround yourself with people who've already accomplished maybe not your
(40:44):
specific goal, but maybe the level that you want to
be at in their lives. And so how do you
upgrade yourself? And you do that by spending time with
and being willing to be mentored by somebody who's more
successful than you are.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
And there are people who might be at the same
level on their goal setting path that you are, but
associating with them can really help you in that process.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Well, they can help you, but what you'd probably want
to do is not necessarily And it's okay to have
people to go through the problems with who are also
going through the same problems, and together you can come
up with different ways and co create and problem solve
for each other with each other. But my thought is
is to be around people that are above your level,
(41:30):
that have accomplished that level, that can show you how
to get to the level that they're at that you're
desiring to get to.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
So what's the eighth commandment of goal setting?
Speaker 2 (41:41):
What are the benefits to you? You have to have
a huge benefit or many small benefits to motivate you
to continue taking action. Being in your outcome of goal
achieved will help you push through your resistance. So determining
what are all the benefits for you to achieve that goal.
If having ten thousand dollars more helps you handle something,
(42:04):
then good, write down what all the benefits are of
how you're going to apply the new ten thousand dollars
that you just accomplished. If being healthier allows you to
be more physically active, okay, what are you going to
be doing. That demonstrates your ability to prove to yourself
that you can go accomplish more. I have a husband
and wife couple in my office that I've treated for
(42:27):
over twenty years who are very very much into dancing,
and they've done ballroom dancing and they've done all sorts
of different types of dancing, and the new type of
dancing that they're learning right now is the West Coast Swing.
And she posted a video of one of the weekend
events that she went to because they went to a
(42:48):
competition and there were people of all ages. Young kids
that were in their teenage and they were doing the
West Coast Swing, the people that were in their eighties
doing the West Coast Swing, and this was their first
time entering a competition, and they didn't fully understand what
was going on, and so they didn't make it through
the first round. But they got to hang out the
(43:11):
whole weekend and watch the other people be successful, and
they didn't get down on themselves as a result of
getting knocked out the first round. They didn't understand the process,
so they got a late start, and because they got
a late start, they weren't seen as one of the
more polished people. So it's like, Okay, we didn't get
upset with the fact that we didn't make it out
of the first round. We took it as a learning
(43:32):
and we enjoyed ourselves the rest of the weekend and
we got to see some really good dancers doing what
it is that we're trying to get to for ourselves.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
I mean, it seems like there's a these finding out
what the benefits are to you is really supports this
vision of what your final destination is.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
Well, at the end of the day, it hances the
visualization and contributes to it becoming more real. While manifesting,
it enhances the the visualization that you have, and so
it's important to constantly be checking back in and upgrading
and tweaking the vision that you have and starting to
get more of a felt sense of what's actually possible.
(44:12):
Because you're pretty far along within the game.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
It's kind of a brainstorming exercise you get to do
with yourself to figure out what advantages I'm going to
get for myself if I accomplish this goal.
Speaker 2 (44:22):
Yeah, ask yourself these questions, what will be new and different,
how will I feel, and how will the feeling support
the being new and different. What will I be, what
will I do, what will I feel? And what will
I have once my goal is achieved? And make sure
that you satisfy all four of those.
Speaker 1 (44:39):
Well that's great, that's great. What's number nine?
Speaker 2 (44:42):
Develop an action plan? Having a specific action plan the steps,
the step by step allows you to follow your recipe
for success and allows you to add to your recipe
as things come up. As we mentioned earlier, so what
do you do if you.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
Come across encounter something unexpected?
Speaker 2 (44:58):
Well, that's just it. You want to learn from it.
You want to receive the education, and you want to
embody that educational lesson, and then you want to keep
going and as I said, be really really happy for
the education, because that's the whole point of setting the goal,
which is to create a different outcome.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
And what's the final commandment of this process.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
Well, visualize yourself having accomplished the goal. You will visualize
yourself accomplishing the goal at the beginning, and all you
could do is fantasize about what it's going to feel
like now that you're on the cusp of achieving that goal.
Because you've been through all the steps, in all the stages,
all nine of them, Number ten is visualizing yourself having
accomplished the goal. See the goal completed, see yourself standing
(45:45):
at the finish line, and imagine the sense of accomplishment
and let that feed the motivation to carry you through
to the end and cross that finish line and understand
all the trials and tribulations that you went through in
order to get to this point and be proud of
all the things that you've accomplished. But at the end
of the day, you have to finish. You have to
(46:06):
cross the finish line. It can't be something that's left undone.
And a lot of times this is where people quit.
And they quit because they're still afraid of being successful
and what it's going to mean for them and how
their life is going to change. And they may come
up with stories, I can't be this successful because my
parents weren't this successful, and I don't want my parents
(46:26):
to be ashamed of themselves because of my success. And
what I've always couched people to understand is your parents
want you to be more successful than them. That's why
they did everything that they could so that you could
be more successful than they were. So show them that
you've accomplished more success than they ever amassed and show
them that you took the lessons that they gave you
(46:48):
and the motivations that they gave you, and you turned
it into what it is that they had always desired
for you. Anyway, well, this.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
Is really good. Before we conclude our show to I
want to go back over these, so we could just
take a moment here and go through what the ten
steps are on the process that you have for setting
goals for a year as you move forward with your health. Well.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
Number one, you want to decide what it is that
you want to accomplish, and you want to make sure
that it's really motivational and it's really something that inspires
you and really makes you uncomfortable, because you want to
make sure that what you're creating and what you're going
to accomplish is going to be different from what you're
currently living. Number two, you want to determine a deadline
for the accomplishment of your goal, because without a deadline,
(47:38):
it just becomes a wish or a hope. By giving
a deadline, well then you can actually really work hard
until that deadline, and whether you accomplish the goal or not,
by that deadline, you'll be closer to your goal. But
if you have a hard, fast deadline and you stick
to making sure that it happens by that deadline, and
you get through all the different steps of goal setting,
(48:01):
then then you'll accomplish your goal. Third step is to
determine what the goal is and make sure that it's
believable to you. If you don't think that you can
become a millionaire, because right now you're making three dollars
an hour, then that's going to be completely unrealistic. But
at the end of the day, if you are going
to become a millionaire, what's going to probably happen to
(48:22):
your three dollars an hour job. It's going to have
to go away because three dollars an hour will never
allow you to become a millionaire. And so determine that
the goal is believable to you. And then number four
is where are you now? Well, where are you starting from?
Be like the GPS that already determines where you are,
determines what your resources are, determines on where it is
(48:45):
that you want to go, but you have to know
where you're starting from. Number five is understanding what the
obstacles are that you need to overcome, and some of
them will be obvious, and some of them will appear
out of nowhere as you're going through the process because
your brain is actually evolving and adapting and expanding, and
you didn't even have a preconceived notion that this would
(49:07):
end up being an obstacle. So now you understand what
the obstacle is because it's in your face, and then
now you know what you need to overcome. And with that,
it's going to motivate you to understand Number six, which
is what knowledge or material you need to acquire in
order to achieve your goal. If you don't have the resources,
it's going to be impossible for you to achieve the goal.
(49:28):
And it might be meeting somebody that's already done it.
It might be meeting somebody that can help fund it.
It might be meeting somebody that's going to teach you
the things that you need to understand. It might be
somebody that's gonna, you know, walk with you and help
push you through the difficulties that you're going to overcome.
But you need to overcome them and you need to
have the knowledge in which to do that. Number seven
(49:50):
is is what organizations or group should you associate with
that's a gene pool of successful people that you aspire
to be more like, and they're going to want to
reach down and they're going to want to help you up,
because it's better to have more people in the group
than less. Number eight, Well, what are the benefits to you?
If it doesn't inspire you, and it doesn't have really good,
(50:11):
strong benefits of achieving your goal, then it's going to
lose its steam. You're going to run out of gas.
So you need to make sure that you have plenty
of benefits for you to keep you motivated. Number nine,
Develop an action plan. Those are your step by steps
that you're going to need to take in order to
get through the process of achieving your goal. And the
(50:32):
more steps you have, the more realistic it becomes. And
then you always know what your next step is because
it's waiting for you. And then finally, number ten, you
want to visualize yourself having already accomplished the goal and
being the champion and having crossed the finish line and
achieving the success and feeling what it feels like to
(50:55):
have crossed the finish line and achieved your goal. And
there was nothing that felt better than the two examples
that I mentioned earlier one about mountain biking to Mount
Everest base camp. Once I got to see Mount Everest,
a huge shift occurred in my life and then it
inspired me to go on to bigger and better things.
(51:15):
I would never ever choose to put my life in
danger by trying to climb Mount Everest. That's just pretty
lunacy to me. But there is a mountain in the
world called Ocancagua down in Argentina, which it is a
glorified hike. You don't need any climbing equipment, you just
need the appropriate dress material in which to accomplish it.
(51:36):
And so having accomplished that, that was a huge change
in my life. So I was motivated by being at
Mount Everest base camp, and I achieved the goal when
I summoned acan Cogoa down in Argentina. And so it's
it's just always nice to be in your outcome having
crossed the finish line, et cetera. And whether it's paying
(51:58):
a bill, whether it's finish a task that you're on,
whether it's I don't know, paying off your mortgage, you're
finishing your car payments. These are all goals that you
can set for yourself and you want to make your
life exciting by having a lot of exciting goals, and
so that is the motivation going into twenty twenty six
(52:18):
for all the listeners, and I appreciate everybody listening well.
Speaker 1 (52:22):
In our last minute here, I want to make sure
that you have a chance to let people know that
you're available and that there are many ways to contact you.
So before we sign off for the day and for
the year, what are the best ways to reach you.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
Well, we have a plethora of ways to get a
hold of me. The best way to get a hold
of me would be to call my cell phone directly
at a RAA code eight four to five five six
one two two two five again eight four to five
five six one two two two five. That is my
personal cell phone. I will be the one answering the phone,
but if I don't answer the phone, please leave a
message and I will get back to you. Lots of
(52:58):
people don't even know who I am, and they send
