Speaker 1 (00:00):
The following is a presentation of iHeartRadio Sports. This is
high school Baseball on ninety four Country w KKJA. Now
from behind home plate, here's Little Postage, Hello.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
And welcome to beautiful Beavers Beard Field. Here in Lancaster,
Ohio Regional semi final action between Mechanicsburg and Huntington. I'm
Chris Postage, joined alongside by my father, Coach Loo Postage.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Coach. It's good to be here. Well, here we are.
We're in the regional section of our tournament. And you know,
you get to this point no matter where you are
in the state of Ohio as something special. And here
we got a great day for baseball and two teams
that would love to be playing tomorrow. So, you know,
(00:54):
Chris Huntington doing a great job getting to the regional
for the second time. I'm in their school history, and
I know Mechanicsburg has not been around or have you
been to this spot since nineteen eighties, so this is
a going to be a great place.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
We look at Huntington. They come in eighteen and nine.
On the year they were six and eight in the
side of allan conference. That was good enough for fifth place.
They are head coached by Chad Carroll Mechanics for twenty
one and three. Overall, they were at eleven and two
out of the Ohio Heritage North Conference. That was good
enough for a second place. Their head coach is Brian Heink.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah and Chris again, both these coaches have done a
tremendous job to get their teams to this point. And
this is just a wonderful facility here at Lancaster beavers Field.
Here an all turf surface here, so we don't have
to worry about any of that situation. And again no
(01:58):
raid into forecasts and we like to hear that. And
we're also going to be able to get on time
here at two o'clock start. We've had to juggle that
around here. It seems like the last couple of weeks.
So you know, we are ready for baseball here. They're
introducing both teams right now, and you know, it's just
(02:20):
great to see. This is a, like I said, a
fantastic facility. We're down here almost on field level. The
majority of the crowd is above us in the stand level,
so it's kind of nice to be down here in
an air conditioned press box today. But again, a wonderful
day for baseball Yeah, that seems like.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
The longer our teams are going the tournament, the nicer
the facilities to get for us. We've had two air
conditioned facilities in our last two games, being down at
Ohio University and now here in Lancaster.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
We look at how these teams got here.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Huntington it was a district championship over Southeastern on the
score seven to five. They were down four to nothing
in the first inning. The pitcher in that game was
Andrew Oher. He gave up those four runs in the
first inning, but pitched the gym the rest of the
way as his team backed him up at the plate,
and after the long rain delay, they came back to
(03:21):
win that one seven to five.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, and they did a fantastic as you said, oh
you're really calm down after that first inning and pitched
a gym. We're gonna see, oh you're again today on
the mound for Huntington. But very resilient team. This team
throughout the year has been able to do that. They
never give up, they never get down on themselves, and
they fought through that game against Southeastern and came out
(03:45):
on top. So we're hoping to see the same thing today.
Out of this Huntington team because this Mechanicsburg team has
a tremendous pitcher, which we're going to see here today
and you know, we'll see how that goes for them.
But they got to be aggressive.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
And for Mechanicsburg last Thursday, it was a two to
one win over Liberty Union for them to be crowned
district champions. They're led by their pitcher that we're gonna
see today. Who is that Connor Inc coach? You got
some stats on him?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah, he's Uh, he's pitched tremendously throughout the year. Here
and as I get my stuff ready here, where'd that go?
I lost him? Already? There we go. Inc is eight
and one on the year, a point five to two
e r A. He has ninety strikeouts on the air
well only walking seven. So Chris, those are pretty solid
(04:40):
numbers when you look at that, and this Huntington team
is going to be have to be ready to swing
that bad. Uh. He's at fifty three innings this year,
the most of anybody on this Mechanics FIRS team. So again,
to get across to run for against him would be
a tremendous effort.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
We'll take a quick break. We'll be back for the
start of this one. You're listening to high school baseball

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Welcome back to Beaver's Field.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
As we get set for the regional semi final action
here between mechanics Burg and Huntington, let's look at some
starting lineups. First, for the whole team, the Huntington Huntsman
batting first, the short stop Frankie Hirsch second, the third
fielder Troy McDonald, and the cleanup spot. The third baseman
Tucker Hopkins batting fourth to catcher Landon Lowry, the right
(07:15):
fielder Calvin Hirsch batting fifth, sixth, the second baseman Maverick Hardesty,
the DH and the seventh hole Sean Davis, the left
fielder Andrew Knight, and the nine hole hitter is the
pitcher Andrew Oyer. And for mechanics Burg it'll be the
(07:36):
catcher Crew Lefrey number one sorry, the first baseman, Eli Wilson,
the pitcher Connor Eink, the second baseman Hank Huffman, the
short stop Body DeLong, the DH Liam O'Loughlin, the center
fielder Colton Salliers, the right fielder Connor Floss, and the
(07:59):
third BA Eastman Colvin Rose colp.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
So again the home team on the scoreboard will be
the Huntington Huntsman for this game, so they will be
in the field first. And Andrew Ohyer, as we said,
is the pitcher for Huntington. We saw him go all
seven innings last week against Southeastern. Looking at his numbers
(08:29):
one eighty eight, earned run average, six and five record,
and again when you talk about strikeouts, sixty five strikeouts
on the year in twenty seven walks. So again he
had a rough first inning last week and really calmed down.
We'll see how that goes here today. For Andrew oh Yer,
he's got to face top of the order of mechanic Krzburg.
(08:52):
That pretty good numbers on the year. As we look
down there, Laferri is coming into this game batting four
to six, eight Wilson number two hitters betting three hundred,
and Connor iink is batting four sixty six, So pretty
good top of the order for mckennisburg as they're coming
(09:13):
to bat here in the top of the first.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Four. Oh, you're six and five on the year with
an ERA of one point eighty eight. He was also
the winning pitcher in their district semi final matchup against
Sims Valley. He went five innings, give up four hits,
one based on balls.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
With seven ks.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
The last team standing out of Siota Valley Conference is
these Huntington Huntsmith and the first pitch here in the
regional semi finals is a call strike.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
From Andrew Oyer.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Leading off for Mechanicsburg is the catcher crew Lefrey Liner
up the left side, is going to be just foul.
Moves to count to oh and two quickly on the catcher.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah, oh, you're way in front here. Good command so
far on his pitches compared to last week. So see
if he doesn't try to maybe get an off speed
or breaking ball here to finish off the leadoff batter.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Oh, you're set for the two, it's gonna be just
high and outside. First ball on the catcher with Ferry.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Yeah, that was a good placement pitcher by Oh, you're
see if he would go for that.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Right now for the one too, that's high to be
a ball. Even the count two balls and two strikes.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
We got a nice fantash point. We are right behind
home played here in beavers Field here in Lancaster.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
The two to two swung on skide into center back
to play it is McDonald and he's under it for
the first down of the inning.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Yeah, good job. Oh you're also has good command and
he's also ready to go. I mean, he's getting that
ball and he's ready to go with it. He's not
worrying about anything that's coming right out. The batters.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Now batting for mechanics Burg. The first baseman Eli Wilson.
Wilson coming in batting three hundred on the season. Interesting
side note here on Wilson, he's been hit by the
pitch seven times. It's a leader on his team. First
pitch breaking ball drops in there for a strike, Oh,
(11:36):
you're in to wind up, delivers guide in the left field.
McKnight under it and he's there for the second out
of the inning.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
And that was an efficient to add bat there. And
McKnight really didn't have to move out there in left
field ever, came right to him. Connor Reich.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
The pitchers step into the plate, two ounce here in
the out the.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
First mink betting four sixty six. He leads his team
in thirty two. RBIs also home runs with four and
he can really fire it on the mound. It'll be
interesting to see him in the bottom of the first
and the.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Liner just over the head of the second baseman, hardest D,
and that's going to drop in for a base hit.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
I was going right at hardest D and he just
sort of hesitating.
Speaker 13 (12:25):
You.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
It was froze at that ball and he just couldn't
get it glove high enough to get it.
Speaker 8 (12:31):
Huffman.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Hank on first, first base runner of the ball game,
the second baseman, Hank Huffman now at the plate for
mechanics Berg first pitch high.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
It's a ball three fifty seven on the year, is Huffman.
We see, Oh, you're now in the stretch with the
guy on first base. Mike takes a lead at first.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Oh, you're checks on now delivers pitches fouled straight back
even the count one ball, one strike on Huffman. Yeah,
hopefully we parked in the right spot a little far
enough away from these foul balls there, especially on the
first base side where all the parking lot is.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Oh, you're set for the one to one, it's just inside. Yeah.
I tried to break back at the end, but I
think it was a little low as well.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Two balls and a strike with two ounce here in
the top of the first runner at first bakes is
the pitcher ink, Oh your checks on them, now deliver
swinging fouled off to the right side, now to play
even the count two balls and two strikes.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Now to the second baseman, Huffman. He's been laid on. Oh,
yours fastballs here in this said bat, and see if
you can't get a breaking ball or off speed pitch
here to finish him off.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Oh, you're set for the two to two, and that's
a ball just outside. But swiping second base is going
to be incause he's in there safely.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
I was just kidding, ready to say he leads a
team with fifteen stolen bases on the air, and thought
he was going to take off sooner, but he waited.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
He was a good looking fitching everybody. Oh, you'res just
called a ball. Moves to count to three and two
now on Huffman. Two outs here and the top of
the first, the three to two chopper to the left side,
Hopkins over to play and over to first for the
(14:47):
final out of the top of the first. We'll head
to the bottom, Huntington sending Hirsch McDonald Hopkins stead of play.

Welcome back to beavers Field.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
As we head to the bottom of the first no
runs for Mechanicsburg and the top of the inning on
just one hit, I am stranded at second base.
Speaker 6 (15:51):
Umber four.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Yeah, looking at the Huntington batting where you got Frankie
Hurst leading and off McDonald uh in two. Betting third
is Hopkins, fourth, Lowry, fifth, Calvin Hirsch sixth, hardest City
seven will be the d h. Davis eighth, McKnight and
nine will be oh years so again facing a very
(16:15):
tough pitcher out there on the mound, and I ain't
eight and one, as we said, overall point five two
we are a ninety strikeouts on the season. He's had
believe fifty point or fifty and a third innings pitch
this year, so he has been really solid on the mound.
When not pitching. He's a pretty good catcher as well.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Betting first for Huntington's the short style Frankie Hirsch. She
was one for three with a run scored and an
RB I and the district championship game against Southeastern.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Catch her out there conversing with the pitcher and now
they go through their handshake and running back behind the
mountain or the plate to get this bottom of the
first underway all hurts.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
The left handers step into the plate. Sorry, the right
hander step into the plate against the right handed pitching
ink ready for the O and that's in there for
a cold strike.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Yeah, that was a fastball, low and away.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
The O one to hirsh shot right back to the
dips down and takes it over to first for the
first out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Great job of field in your position there and that
ball came right back to him in a hurry.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Now batting for Huntington is the center fielder Troy McDonald.
McDonald came up big against Southeastern with a two for
three day, a triple that plated two and ended up
scoring a run to help his team take the lead
and ultimately be crowned district champions. First pitch on the
(18:16):
outside part of the plate. That's called a strike.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
Yeah, he likes to work that outside part of the plate,
so farre early.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Quickly back to work is inc And that one's found
off to the right side. Now to play me quickly
in an O two hole, is Troy McDonald.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Yeah, no pitch Clark needed today, Chris. These two pitchers
grab it and throw it.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
I think back in the wind up the two inside
high on McDonald as he falls down to a knee,
but gets back up. One ball in two strikes now
to the center fielder. Great job of getting out of
the way that one. The one too fastball sky to
(19:04):
the right side. Back to get it is the second
basement Huffman, But he's called off by false out there
in right field for the second out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Yeah, that was a high pop up there and sort
of right between the second basement and right fielder right
field does what he's supposed to, calls him off and
makes the second out.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Now batting the third baseman, Tucker Hopkins. First pitch low
and outside, one ball, no strikes high and inside with
(19:47):
that one, two balls and no strikes now with two
outs here in the first cannings Burgs got the purple
tops with white pin stripes on.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
You don't see that a lot.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Swing looking at the two to Oh, it's gonna be
chopped straight up in the air and we'll be a
foul ball.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
That that popped a way in here and ended up
hitting a catcher on the helmet afterwards. But mechanics pert
with the white pants to go with the white pin
stripes and purple caps out there in the field.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Two balls and one strike to the third baseman, Tucker Hopkins,
and that pitch is a call strike on the inside
part of the plate even to count. Two balls and
two strikes now two ounce here in the bottom of
the first strikes is pretty low here so far to
(20:42):
the Knights game. Swinging chopper to the left side the
third baseman and a rose cup over the first for
the final out of the inning, we'll head to the
bottom to the top of the second.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Now, no runs, no hits, and no airs in that
half of the inning.

Ninety four Country WKKJ, the Scioto Valley's home for today's country.
Speaker 2 (21:35):
Welcome back to beavers Field as we head to the
second inning here in the regional semi finals between Huntington
and Mechanicsburg. Mechanicsburg will send up the five, six, seven
hole hitters of DeLong, O'Laughlin and Sawers.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Yeah, if you're Huntington, uh, you know, on that top
of the or bottom of the first inning, they were
able to get the battle on the ball against Hinks,
So that's good news. You know he didn't blow him
away with his stuff. As you look at his numbers
on the year that you know you had a possibility there.
But I thought Huntington did a good job in that
(22:13):
bottom of the first and now you got to shut
them down again.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Here, Oh you're back on the mound for the Huntsman
only gave up the one hit, but strained that that
runner at second base.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Huntington wearing their white pants with I believe that's a
green belt and got black shirts with the green and
white piping and lettering in a black and green hat.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Leaving off the second inning for mechanicsbur are going to
be the shortstop body DeLong.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
You had the long betting two ninety six on the year.
This Huntington team again second time being in the regionals
in school history.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
The long you know, the right handed batter sent to
the plate to face Oh you're so Ohier finds his
way to the mound to get the second inning and started.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
The chance well corporation, Oh your.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Starts as wind up delivers shot right over the second
basement the hardest he's head and that's in there for
a based head.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
That's where both base hits have been hit by Mechanicsburg.
You had ink ink in the or ink in the
first inning. Now DeLong here in the second.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
The designated hinter Liam O'Loughlin up to the plate for Mechanicsburg.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
No ounce.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Here in the top of the second base runner at
first base is DeLong, the right handed banner for Mechanicsburg.
Squaring the bunt, missus throw behind is gonna go out
in the right field. But just getting to his feet
there was DeLong, So no advance on the runner.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
That DeLong had got himself well off that bag there,
And good idea there by Lowry, and very good job
by Calvin Hirsch out there in right field backing that.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Up balls offered at for a strike. Now squaring again
is Olaughlin. This bunk gets down the first baseline, Oh,
you're to play it, throws it over the first for
the first.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Out of the inning.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Nobody's covering third base, So Delong's gonna swipe another one.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
Yeah, that's just a mental air there by. Huntington third
baseman really came down and I think that's where the
third baseman has got to realize that ball butted towards first.
He's got a back up real quick and get back
in his position there because the shortstop was covering the
second base bag.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
DeLong goes first to third on the sacrifice bun. One
out here in the top of the second, the center
field or Colton, salars up for mechanics. Burt first pitch,
breaking ball in there for a called strike. That was
a beauty. Oh, you're out of the stretch with the
(25:37):
runner at third base delivers the one. Another breaking ball
shot off the glove of Hopkins. Frankie Hurst over to
play it, and it's not able to be crowned by
the first baseman Smith. So a run comes across the
plate and the runner is safe at first.
Speaker 3 (25:55):
So that'll be a base hit because that was a
shot down to third base. Third baseman did all he
could to knock it down, but just couldn't get it.
Speaker 8 (26:04):
Number five center Feller Colton sires.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Running it furthers. There's another down The third base line
is bobble. I think I had my lineup wrong there.
That was Sallyers that laid down the bunt there and
he's on first. Now, now we got runners at first
(26:42):
and second for the right fielder Avery Foss. So that
was Salar's there, Yes, okay, pick off played the second
and they're gonna get him for the out. That was
(27:02):
Drew Lawhorn. That was picked off air at second base.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
All right, So we had our lineups all over the
place here, so we must all right, so.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Two hours here now in the top of the second
I want to run across so far Mechanicsburg on top
of Hnnington won to nothing first ball, the first pitch
was in there for a strike. Now checking over at first?
Is oher back in there safely? Is Sallars?
Speaker 3 (27:42):
And you said this was false hitting here right, yes,
so he must be in the nine hole there and
the one.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
That's in there for a strike no balls and two
strikes now to the right field or falls two outs
here in the town for the second. See how here's
with a lead at first? Oh your checks on them
now delivers breaking ball in the dirt, keep it in
front of him, is Lowry and the runner stays put
(28:16):
at first.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
So we can't expect able to get one run across here.
But that was a big pickoff move by Oh. You're
there to limit possibly some damage. Now you only have
a runner first and not in scoring position.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Oh, you're out of the stretch for the two to
one checks at first and now we get time called
late time called at home as Oh you're delivered that one.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Yeah, that's we talked about that last week. Granting of
time by the home plate umpire. You see it a
lot in high school. You don't see that very much
at the upper levels because of some of the new rules.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Who you're set for the one too, Now deliverers inside
for a ball even to count two balls and two
strikes for two ounce here and the top of the
second that.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Did not miss by much. Oh, you're out of the stretch.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Checks over at Salar's now deliver Salar's running ball was
tipped foul and went off to catcher Lowry.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
He's a little shaken up.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Looked like cottam mirror and the yelbow four arm area.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
And he's gonna try to walk that off and move
that arm around.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
I think he's just taking a moment to show off
that bleach blonde hair.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Yeah, it seems this time of year you can see
a lot of players or teams even go with the
uh leeching of the hair. So last year you and
Yodo did that and they made their run to the
state semis.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
All right, Lowry looks to be all right as he
got grabs his mask, finds his place back behind behind
home plate. Two balls and two strikes the right fielder Foss,
a runner on first base with two outs here and
(30:29):
the top of the second one run across already for mechanics. Pert, Oh,
your checks it first, now delivers home swing fouled out
of play.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
That might have got a car up there.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Two balls and two strikes will do it once more.
You're there, Oh, you're back on the ready for the
two to two once again comes set checks it first
(31:06):
now delivers home breaking ball swung on and popped in
their center field Frendie Hurst coming to play it. I'm
sorry McDonald up to play it, but it goes just
off his glove and that'll drop in for a base hit.
So two out hitting there from Foss, who's the runner
up ninety feet runners at first and second now with
(31:27):
two outs.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Yeah, he got a late break on that, and I
thought he was able or he finally had got it
and it was going to catch it. But as he
was going down to his knees, the ball bounced out
of his glove. And all hands are safe.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
Now the lineup turns over for Mechanberg as the catcher
crew la Ferry comes back to the plate. First pitch,
breaking ball inside. That'll be a ball.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
That was a late break there.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
It just almost caught the inside corner. Oh, you're set
for the one. Oh another breaking ball. That one's high
and inside for a ball. Two balls and no strikes. Now, Oh,
(32:24):
here goes to the rocks and bag. I'm can get
a better grip on it. Now steps back to the
rubber as we get time at the plate by the ferry.
Now he'll gather himself get back in the box. Oh,
(32:44):
you're set for the two oh. Checks on second now
delivers and that's gonna be just outside for a ball.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
All three balls and no strikes. Now to the catcher.
You're really struggling to bid here during this sitting. Now
think of it is you get an out here. You've
only limited yourself to one run.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
And the three Zho catches the outside part of the
plate for a strike. Three balls and a strike. Now
with two outs here in the top of the second,
runners on second and first, four mechanics perk Oh you're
checks on second now delivers three ones foul to the
right side out of play. It was to count the
(33:27):
full three balls and two strikes now on the ferry.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Yeah, this is a big hitter here for Oh, you're.
Speaker 8 (33:38):
Events right from the whole case of hop.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Oh you're comes set in the stretch, checks on second
now delivers runners going ground ball to Frankie Hirsch at
short over the first and that's the final out of
the inning. One runner across the plate for mc Cannicksburg.
As we head to the bottom of the second, Canisburg
on top of Huntington one to nothing. You're listening to

Welcome back to beavers Field. Here in Lancaster Regional semi
final action between Mechanicsburg and Huntington. As we head to
the bottom of the second Mechanicsburg is on top of
Huntington one to nothing.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Yeah, they're oh, you did a good job there, really
limiting the damage in that ding. That inning could have
been a big inning for Mechanicsburg. They did get the
one run across there on a couple errors and some bunts,
but picking the runner off at second basement and then
getting that last one to bounce out the shortstop. That
(35:18):
was big for this Huntington Huntsman team. Now they need
to come back and see if they can't get a
base runner in this inning and get some things started
for Huntington.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
It'll be the four to five six hole hitters of Lowry,
Calvin Hirsch, and Maverick Hardesty.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
And you look at Lowry, he comes in batting three
point thirty eight on the year, and again I think,
get that first base runner on base for Huntington and
then see if you can't make some things happen.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Lowery was one for three with air unscored and an
RBI and their win against southeast turn back against Sims Valley,
he was two for three with an RBI. The infield
gets in position for Mechanicsburg the ferry behind the plate
(36:15):
and Ike steps to the mouth quickly into the wind
up his inc. First pitch swinging for Lowry's going to
go back behind us here in the press box. No
balls in one strike quickly back to work is inc.
Deliver swinging strike two.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
And he does work quick He gets that ball back
and he's ready to go right.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
Away and ready with the two. Swinging found straight back
and we'll do the O two once again, and delivers
swung high into left. That's Lawhorn back to get it
(37:03):
and he makes the catch for the first out of
the inning.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
Had good contact there, just hit it to where they were.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Now betting for Huntington is the right fielder Calvin Hirsch.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Calvin had a big game there against Southeastern. I think
he was two for three on the night. He had
a double.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
First pitch, swinging strike quickly back to the plate. Hunk
delivers and it's grounded to the left side. DeLong over
the play it all over the first for the second
out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
I think on that first pitch, Calvin was expecting the
fastball and he got a breaking ball and it looked
pretty bad there. But got the fastball there and was
able to get some bat on it, but unfortunately in
right to a fielders the second basement.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Maverick Hardesty now to play for Huntington, is in there
for a strike.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
He is quick out there, boy, you gotta be ready.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
And he's on the rubber. So now he's ready to deliver.
And the one swung on skyde to the right side
over and that's going to find its way out of play.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Not a whole lot of room on both sides, especially
down the lines. Be a lot more room down there.
But again, just a tremendous facility here in Lancaster.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
No balls and two strikes to Hardesty out of the
wind up. Now delivers. That's a ball outside and lo
one ball on two strikes now to hardest e three.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Twenty five down the left field line, three twenty down
the right in three nineties straight away center and.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
The one two is found back out of play. So
we'll do the one two once again. Two outs here
in the bottom of the second Huntington's still looking for
the first base runner of the ball game. I deliver
swinging strike three and the Huntsman go down one, two
three again. Here in the second, we'll head to the
(39:23):
third with I can't exper of on Tava Huntington one
to nothing. You're listening to high school baseball here on

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Here in Lancaster Regional semi final action between Mechanicsburg and Huntington.
As we hit to the south of third, Mechanicsburg is
on top one to nothing so far, no hits and
no base runners for Huntington in this one. As Ink
has been very efficient on the mouth. Yeah, and he's quick,
he's uh, he gets that ball. He's ready to go
right away, very confident out there on the mound. He's
(40:33):
only got the one strikeout so far, but ninety strikeouts
on the season.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
That's pretty impressive. Winner of today's game will play tomorrow
at six pm right here at beavers Field will play
the winner of Waterford and Berlin Highland. That game will
follow us here. I believe that's a six o'clock start.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Coming to the plate for mechanics to lead things off here.
Out there is the first baseman, Eli Wilson.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Wilson flew out to left fielder in the first inn.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Well, oh, you're ready, and the livers first pitch of
wingings line foul right at the third base coach there
showed some good hops getting out of the way. There
the balls in one strike, every lady.
Speaker 12 (41:59):
On top of.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
Out of the wind up your delivers bounces bounce across there.
One ball and one strike.
Speaker 17 (42:12):
Now, oh, you're ready for the one one.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
On the outside. That will be two balls and a
strike now, okay to one from your.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
Bounces outside. Three balls and one strike. Now I don't
want to get the leadoff guy on here.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
Yeah, three to one from Oh, your found back off
the netting. Three balls and two strikes. Now, Oh your
fights back to a full count. Now you got netting
all around the backstop here. There's no metal fencing, it's
(43:22):
all just netting. The three to two from Oh, your
breaking ball inside for ball four and that's a free
pass for the first basement Wilson. Now the picture O'Connor,
iink coming to the plate. Yeah, i'd say last four
or five batters.
Speaker 3 (43:41):
Oh yours really struggled again with his commanded.
Speaker 8 (43:49):
For the last.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Oh, you're out of the stretch now with Wilson at
first checks over on will and he's back in there.
Speaker 8 (44:04):
I think the school observe.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Charlie, Oh you're come set now delivers that's in there
for a called strike. Alright, Oh you're ready for the
(44:30):
O one s guid back behind home plate here, how
to be out to play no balls and two strikes.
It takes time. Now steps back in. Oh your gets
(44:53):
the sign from Wowry, Oh you're checks it for checks
again now the livers breaking ball high and outside. Lowry
throws behind the runner at first, but he's back in there.
(45:14):
Watch one ball, two strikes. Oh your delivers that bounces
across the plate for a ball. Two balls and two strikes.
Speaker 18 (45:25):
Now a lot of you guys, okay, all right, Oh
you're goes back to the rosin looking to get a
better grip on the ball.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
Here, now back to the mound. Delivers shot right over
the head of the second basement and that's going to
fall in right in front of Calvin Hirsch ere right field,
and that's another base hit for inc.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
It's right in that spot where they've got three hits there.
Speaker 2 (45:58):
Now is it second and first? Now for Mechanicsburg, no outs.
Here in the top of the third, the second baseman,
Hank Huffman, steps to the plate. Now, oh you're out
(46:21):
of the stretch. Huffman lays down the bunch and it's
gonna go foul. It spun back behind the catcher Lowry.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
Yeah, this is where Mechanicsburg in the last any we're
able to score one run by getting runners on and
then getting him over by the bunt. And Huntington did
not do a very good job of the button defense
in that inning. But fortunately I only need to give
up one run.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
Oh you're coming set for the O one squaring the
bunt and that one goes foul up the left side,
so no balls and two strikes now.
Speaker 3 (47:03):
Yeah, he protected himself with the bat there. I think
that ball was coming right at him and he put
his bat up to protect himself in a bunneted foul.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
No balls and two strikes to the second basement. Huffman,
Oh your come set checks it second now delivers swinging
now is Huffman. He skies it. Hirsh under it at
short he loses it, but they're gonna call on an
infield fly roll as it got up there into the sun,
(47:39):
it looks like and Hirsh lost it on the way down.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
Yeah, he'd last minute just ducked his head out of
the way.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
And it wasn't infield violation. So Huffman will be called out.
That'll be the first out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (48:00):
Bdy DeLong.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
Back to the plate the short stop. Oh you're come
set now delivers swinging foul tip from DeLong. Be no
balls and a strike. Oh you're checks on the runner
(48:35):
at second now delivers home between the short stop and
third baseman in the left field. They're sending the runner
to cut off is not going to be sent home,
so the runner comes around to score.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
That's where that base on balls come back to haunt you.
You now have runners on second and third. After that
base hit by Along, that's his second hit of the day.
Wilson came across to score. I ink up the third.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Now DeLong at second with one out here in the
top of the third, Mechanicsburg on top. Now two to nothing.
Interesting call here Huntington.
Speaker 3 (49:20):
See if they thought maybe they would put them on
and load the bases and get a force out. They're
going to play the infield corners.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
In the h Leamloughlin and now for Mechanicsburg. He takes
that first pitch for a ball one, oh, breaking ball
(49:51):
just inside. Two balls and no strikes. Oh, your delivers
the two to zero and that one's in there for
a strike. Two balls, one strike, one out here and
the top of the third, mm hm a two to
(50:19):
one breaking balls swung on and fouled.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Even to count. Two balls and two strikes. Now that
was a slow breaking ball coming in here in the
last minute, swinging by Aloftlin.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
Two balls and two strikes, So you're come set out
of the stretch. Delivers and that's called strike three on
the outside part of the play.
Speaker 3 (50:56):
Wow, what a big strike out there?
Speaker 2 (51:00):
Two outs now, Drew Lawhorn stepping in for Mechanicsburg.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
Yeah, runners at second and third there and one out
and you get a big strike out there. Now you
can get out of this ding again with only one
run across the plate. Lawhorn swinging at the first pitch
that's lined in the center field, gaping over to McDonald.
(51:32):
Same the two.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
Runs there was McDonald for the final out of the inning.
As we head to the bottom of the third, Mechanicsburg
on top of Huntington two to nothing. You're listening to

Welcome back here to beavers Field, a regional semi final
action between Mechanicsburg and Huntington, where we head to the
bottom of a third inning. Mechanicsburg able to get one
run there in the top of the inning, they lead
two to nothing. Two hits that inning I've played at
the one run was Wilson. Big play in center field
(52:47):
by McDonald save two more runs.
Speaker 3 (52:51):
And keeps it to a two lead.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
Coming to the plate for Huntington, this inning will be
the seventy eight nine hundred of Davis, McKnight and Oh
You're Plington, still looking for their first hit and base
runners of the ballgame working against Ink of Mechanicsburg, who
has been dialed in so far, making quick work of
the Huntsman batter Sean Davis.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
As the infield finds their position here and la Ferry
converses with his pitcher.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
Ink now finds his way back behind home plate. Sean Davis,
the designated hitter leads off the bottom of the third
for Huntington. First pitch swinging fouled out of play. Mink
(53:54):
makes his way back to the rubber, gets the sign
from La Ferry, now delivers that's going to be a
ball low and outside. One ball and one strike now
to Davis the one one swinging strike two. I think
(54:24):
back in the wind up and that breaking ball drops
into zone for called strike three.
Speaker 3 (54:32):
One out.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Here in the bottom of a third, left fielder Andrew McKnight.
Speaker 8 (54:43):
Number nine, left fielder Andrew mcn we just pulled straight to.
Speaker 5 (54:52):
The car.
Speaker 2 (54:52):
Last year, first pitch swinging strike one the night was
one for two against Simms Valley. He had a triple
scored three times at an RBI and the stolen base
the old ones in there for a called strike. Quickly
(55:16):
with the O two and that's a swinging strike three.
It's been eight up and eight down for the Huntsman
so far. The pitcher, Andrew, oh your.
Speaker 8 (55:31):
Pitcher, Andrew, oh your.
Speaker 2 (55:36):
Steps to the play with two outs here in the
bottom of the third, I quickly, oh your bunts it
up the left side the first basement, up to play
it and to the bag and that'll be the final
out here of the third inning. We'll head to the
fourth where Mechanicsburg's on top of Huntington two to nothing.
You're listening to high school baseball here on ninety four

Welcome back to beavers Field as we head to the
fourth inning where mechanics bergs on top of Huntington two
to nothing.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
Here in the regional semi finals.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
For Huntington, they've sent nine batters to the plate, all
have been retired in order.
Speaker 3 (56:50):
Yeah, I gotta try to get that first base for
in our own base somehow the second time through the
order here. But Mechanicsburg has got a lot of guys
on base. They'd left five guys on the base pass here.
Huntington again has escaped the last two innings with only
one run coming across. So they have got to do
a better job offensively here to try to make something happen.
(57:14):
But again, defensively, I think for the most part, they've
done a good job. I know you're has really battled
on the mound. First inning he had some good stuff,
but the last two innings he struggled a bit with
his control. I walked the first guy in the last inning.
That guy was able to come around and score. So
again you got to limit those free passes. It'll be
(57:35):
the eight nine to one hitters for mechanics Berg. Cell
here's false and love Ferry to come to the man
here in the fourth inning. Yeah, we've only been through
the lineup once with Huntington. This will be the end
of the second time around with the Mechanicsburg.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
Remember back to the Southeastern game. It took oh you
were a couple of innings to settle in. It seems
like he's had his command uh so far, but still
looking to settle in and retire.
Speaker 3 (58:18):
Some of the mechanics per banners in order Yeah, they
have not had one through two three inning, and this
would be a great time to have that. Oh.
Speaker 2 (58:31):
Here makes his way to the mound here to start
the fourth inning, as Colton Salars said, stands in.
Speaker 3 (58:46):
The first pitch.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
Comes inside on Salars as he backs out of the box.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
Be one ball and no strikes. Yeah, they came all
the way to the backstop here you oh, you're just
ready with one.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
Oh, and that one's going to be called just low
and be two balls and now strikes. Breaking ball catches
the inside part of the plate for a strike. Two
(59:25):
balls and one strike. Now the Sallars, the center fielder
for mechanics perk.
Speaker 3 (59:29):
Yeah, that broke back really nice. One.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
Oh, you're quickly back with the two to one chop
to the left side. That's Hopkins over the first for
the out, and ice played there by. Hopkins Over at third.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
Got a good job of not waiting back on the
ball but attacking the ball, and he was able to
get it on the short hop and throw it the
first for the first out.
Speaker 2 (59:50):
Avery Foss, the right fielder. Avery Foss steps in with
one out.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
Now, we've been pretty fortunate to the last couple of
places we've been in nice chairs for us. Sometimes you
(01:00:18):
go home after these games you feel a little sore.
Don't tell mom, I'm sitting in luxury here.
Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
First pitch that's in there for a strike, No balls
in a strike with one out here and the top
of the fourth, and that one skips across the plate
for a ball.
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
One ball, one strike to Avery Foss. Oh, you're trying
to gather himself there on the mountain. Takes a little
quick trip around, and now he's ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Ready with the one to one breaking ball that's gonna
stay high. That'll be two balls and one strike, one
out here in the top of the fourth, Mechanicsburg on
top of Huntington. Two to nothing here in the regional
semis guys, and the two to one that's in the
(01:01:25):
dirt for a ball. Three balls and one strike. Yeah,
last three innings. He's really throwing a lot of pitches.
Even though we might be nice and cool in here,
it sun beating down on them out there, could be
getting to him a bit high seventies out there today,
(01:01:46):
slight breeze blowing in as that three to one is
going to be high for ball four, free pass to
Avery Foss as the catcher cruiler Tree steps in. Now
is lineup turns over for mechanics.
Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Purg Yeah, and again that's the second walk of the
game for oh you're and again you just can't give
free passes in a game this close. You know you're
only down two nothing. And now you go back to
the top of the order of this Mechanicsburg lineup. That
La Ferry batting four sixty eight. First pitch, it's called balls.
(01:02:24):
They throw behind Foss over there at first he's back
in there safely. Yeah, that was a good throw there
by Lowry. If first baseman was able to get that
tag down a little quicker, you might have got him
one ball, no strikes.
Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
Oh your throws over the first and that's going to
get by the first baseman and over the second is Foss.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
It ended up hitting the umpire over there at first
base and sort of slowed it down. I thought maybe
they'd have a play on him at second base, but
he was able to get there.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
The outfield shifted to left field, so Calvin hursch over
and Wright's kind of playing right center.
Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
He's got no.
Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
Backup over at first, so on the throwing air it'll
be Foss moving to second base. Still one ball and
no strikes to le Ferry, so, oh, you're out of
the stretch. Comes set now delivers breaking ball that's in
there for a cold strike.
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Yeah, mckennisburg a lot more patient than they were in
the first inning. We'll get a pinch runner out there
at second.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
Ethan Hodge will be the pitch runner for foss Over
at second. One ball in, one strike with one out
here in the top of the fourth, as the Faery
(01:04:06):
steps back to the plate, Oh, you're on the mound,
breaking ball felt straight back into the netting. One ball
and two strikes now to the Faery.
Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
Yeah, it shows you how important that run out second
basis for mechanics where he brings in that pincher runner
to see if you get a little bit more speed here. Oh,
you're set for the one too.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Checks on second, now delivers pitches s guide into right field.
Calvin hush Over to play it, backs up now makes
the out as tagging his Hodge and he moves up
to third base on the sacrifice.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
More importantly, that's the second out of the inning, so
again you get a chance to get out of this
inning with no runs.
Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
Wilson, the first baseman, Eli Wilson coming to the plate
for mechanics Burg two ounce here in the top of
the fourth runner at third base.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
That's the pinch runner Hodge. Wilson let off the third
in with a base on balls and was able to
come around and score. Trying to make a play there
to see if he left too early in The umpire said, no.
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Only had three man crew here today. You've seen a
couple of four man crews in the tournaments so far.
The first pitch to Wilson, it's a swinging strike one
on the breaking ball.
Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
Really nice get ahead pitch there by Oh, you're.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
No balls, one strike, Oh you're come setting out delivers
and that's another found tip cup by the catcher. No
balls and two strikes. Now to Wilson.
Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Yeah, with ank over there on the on deck circle,
will be nice to leave him there, get this batter
and get the third out of the inny. Oh, you're
set for the O two fastball.
Speaker 2 (01:06:39):
That's head into the center field camp and that's going
to fall in for a base hit. Hodge comes across
the plate to score and standing up at second That
is wilson RBI double.
Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
That was a two strike pitch that he took to
a right center field and getting a really good job
there by the right fielder Calvin Hirschauld playing that ball
and getting it back in quickly, but not soon enough
to get Wilson at second.
Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
Now batting for Mechanicsburg is the pitcher Connor Inc.
Speaker 3 (01:07:20):
But they're going to give him the.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
Free pass as he's two for two so far with
two base hits.
Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
Yeah, when you're batting four to sixty six and you
got a guy in runners in scoring position, you got
a base open, that's probably the wise move.
Speaker 20 (01:07:35):
There's a kid.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
So that'll bring the second basement Hank Hoffman to the
plate here with two outs in the top of the
fourth runners its second and first or Wilson and ink.
Speaker 17 (01:07:55):
His.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Mechanicsburg is on top now three to nothing. First pitch
line in the left field over to play it is
mcnight and he's under it for the final out of
the inning. Two more runners stranded for Mechanicsburg, aus one
of them comes across to plate that inning. They lead
Huntington three to nothing. As we head to the bottom
(01:08:15):
of the fourth, you're listening to high school baseball here

Speaker 2 (01:08:57):
Back to beavers Field Here in Lancaster, Ohio Regional semi
final action between Huntington and Mechanicsburg. As we head to
the bottom of the fourth Mechanicsburg's on top three to nothing. Well,
another end for Mechanicsburg results in resulting in a run
and Huntington's coming to the plate for the fourth time
(01:09:19):
looking to get their first base runner.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Yeah, and again you talk about Mechanicsburg getting three runs.
Fortunately again, I mean you you were able to limit
the damage to only one run. Now you find yourself
down three. But each of the innings they've scored and
they had multiple runners on base and possible, uh, you know,
possibly scoring more, but Huntington's able to keep them from
(01:09:43):
doing that. They've now left I believe. Yeah, seven runners
on base has mechanicsburg through four innings.
Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Lineup's gonna turn over for Huntington. It'll be the short
st out. Frankie Hirsh to the plate to start the
fourth inning.
Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
Again the second time through for these guys facing Ink.
Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Iink out of the wind up. First pitch, it's gonna
be low for a ball. M second pitch fouled out
of play and luckily that one didn't make it to
(01:10:40):
the parking lot because it had some steam on it
going out that way. One one inside on the Hirsh
two balls and a strike now and to one chop
to the right side the second basement, huffing over.
Speaker 3 (01:11:01):
To make the play.
Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
The lobs into first very nonchalant, but gets the out nonetheless.
Speaker 3 (01:11:09):
Again three strikeouts there for Ink as he went through
the order the first time, and for the most part,
I need to enable to get some of the bat
on the ball, but not able to hit it where
there aren't one out here.
Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
For Troy McDonald, this centerfielder, I mean and outstanding played
back there in the third inning. That saved a couple
of runs. Now I have to play. First pitch was
a ball, second pitch sky and out of play even
to count one ball and one strike, the one one
(01:11:54):
from inc out of the wind up delivers fastball, swung
on and found out to play once again, and a.
Speaker 3 (01:12:01):
Lot of balls up there in that parking lot. One
ball on, two strikes.
Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
Oh and the hold up there no appeal yet, and
I believe they're going to call it a foul ball.
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
Yeah, the first base umpire called down that was a
foul ball.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Definitely looked like McDonald went around there, so I called
it a foul ball, and it'll be the one two
once again. I ain't quickly back to work, and that
one was surely fouled.
Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
That was a defensive swing there, and able to file
that one off as well. Where donald trying to stay
a line up there? See if you can't get on
base some way somehow, we'll do the one.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
Two over again with one out ear in the bottom
of the fourth, and that one's high and inside even
the count two balls and two shrikes. Iink out of
the wind up for the two two delivers to chop
(01:13:27):
to the left side that's gonna go foul, get.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
Out bad here by McDonald in three nothing, Huntington in
the hole.
Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
Here, we'll do the two two once again to McDonald,
Iink delivers that's inside for a ball. Three balls and
two shrikes. This account goes full to the center fielder McDonald.
Huntington's still looking for their first base runner. Three two
(01:14:08):
is swung on skyed foul out of play. So we'll
do the three two over again.
Speaker 3 (01:14:22):
It's interesting now any school that is the Burg, they
all have to say the berg on them. Move to
see a T shirt there with the Burg. A lot
of those.
Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
The three two from Ink and that catches the outside
part of the plate for a called strike. Three Troy
McDonald sat down on strikes. Now coming to the plate
for Huntington's the third baseman, Tucker Hopkins.
Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
Huntington's got the tw P on the back of their jerseys,
the Township.
Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
The first pitch to Hopkins, it was high, he checks
swing and peel at first base.
Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
Is gonna say he went around, No balls, gonna strike
Hopkins and still looking for the first base runner for
Huntington and the old ones in there for a called strike.
No balls and two strikes quickly in a hole. Is
Hopkins coach Carol calling for Hopkins come down and have
(01:15:29):
a little chat with him.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
Rington, looking to avoid going three up and three down
for the fourth time in this game. Back in the boxes,
Hopkins calls time. Now the balls and two strikes, two
(01:16:04):
outs here in the bottom of the four and that's
a swinging strike three. So the Huntsman go three up
and three down once more. We'll take a break. You're
listening to high school baseball here on ninety four Country
w KKJ.
Speaker 8 (01:16:29):
Three.
Speaker 13 (01:16:31):
This in the moments that truly matter. What do we
do rise to the occasion? Ohio Health, It's time.
Speaker 12 (01:16:48):
The Scioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four Country
w KKJ.
Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
Welcome back to beavers Field, Sorry Regional semi final between
Mechanicsburg and Huntington. As we head to the fifth inning,
Mechanicsburg is on top three to nothing and they've played
one run in the last three innings and Huntington is
still yet to go get a hit or have a
(01:17:15):
runner on base, as ink has been perfect so far.
Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
Yeah and again, Huntington's got to somehow, some way get
somebody on base and get something started. Here. You're starting
to run out of at bats as we've gone through
four innings already. Both head coaches now had a discussion
with the home Plate Empire Mechanicsburg just finished his and
now coach Carrol comes out and has a little discussion
(01:17:41):
as well, so might be making some changes as well.
Speaker 2 (01:17:46):
I don't oh yours back on the mound for Huntington,
he will face the five, six, seven hole hitters of
Delong'laughlin in Lawhorn.
Speaker 3 (01:18:03):
Don't see any major changes out there, Chris, but something
was set by coach Carroll to the homeplate umpire.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
As we get set here for the top of the
fifth inning, it'll be the short stop Body DeLong leading
off for mechanics. Pert.
Speaker 3 (01:18:26):
Looks like we McDonald no longer in center field. It
looks like a single digit out there. Oh you're shakes
(01:18:47):
the rosin bag now steps to the mound. It's team
in a three hole as we start the fifth inning. Oh,
you're out of the wind up.
Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
And that shot up the middle and hersh unable to
make a play on it as it trickles into center field.
Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
Now it'll be a base hit for Body DeLong is
at number nine out there in the center field. Mcnight,
he was in left.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
Field now batting for Mechanicsburg, was like, well, how they
hinge hit her? Don't have a thirty three on my roster.
Here Landing DeLong, left hander for Mechanicsburg. As the third basement,
(01:19:44):
Hopkins is way in the grass of Huntington. First pitch
is in there for a call strike. Now DeLong the squares.
It's the bunt up. Hopkins there to play in and
(01:20:06):
he retires DeLong at first as Body DeLong moves up
to second.
Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
Good job there by Frankie Hershel making sure he covered
third base that time, keeps a runner at second.
Speaker 8 (01:20:21):
Fourteen Drew Lawhard.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
Drew Lawhorn now steps the plate for Mechanicsburg with one
out here in the top of the fifth inning, runner
at second base, Oh, you're out of the stretch comes
set now delivers breaking ball in there for a cold strike.
Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
Of Chris Mckennisberg has had to run around base every
inning in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:20:51):
Now that second base at body DeLong right now, oh,
you're comes to the plate head on the right field
and that's going to fall in for a base hit.
DeLong moving around third throw the plate is offline as
the long calms across the score.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
It was actually on time, just a little bit up
the line.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
And that's another run across for Mechanicsburg. They now lead
forward to nothing after the base hit from Lawhorn five
Colton Sawyers centerfield or Colton's sailers in now as we
(01:21:34):
get time called and Coach Carroll is gonna make his
way out to the mouth.
Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
Yeah, that's three innings at the first batter reach base
and has come out to score. Now for Mechanicsburg as
they lead for nothing, and I think this might be
just a quick mountain visit to calm try to calm down.
Oh urt, check on to make sure he's okay. If not,
(01:22:00):
then they may make a change here.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
Didn't see anybody down in the bullpen for Huntington. Doesn't
look like any changes are going to be made. As
Coach Carroll makes his way back to the dugout, the
(01:22:23):
enfield makes it big, makes it back to their positions
as Lawhorn makes.
Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
His way back over to first. Oh you'rs back on
the mound and stepping back in is.
Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
Colton Salyers went out in the end, we're going at
first and yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
That's gonna be interference right here.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Interference on Salars as he attempted the bunt and came
across the plate and gonna be they're sending him to
first or he should be out there. Now the batter
is going to be out. Runner has to go back
to base, all right, two outs now as Ethan Hodge
(01:23:13):
steps in for mechanics Bert.
Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
So runner goes back to first and two outs now, plate.
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
And throw behind Lawhorn at first is going to be
unsuccessful as he's back in there safely. Correction, that's the
right fielder and Avery Foss at the plate.
Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
Yeah, we had a pinch runner Ethan Hodge in for
him last time. Now he's back in.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
Pitches inside Lawhorn running at first, and he's thrown out
that second by Loud and that's how the inning's gonna end.
One run came across the plate for Mechanicsburg. They now
lead forward to nothing as we head to the bottom
of the fifth. You're listening to high school baseball here

Speaker 2 (01:24:47):
Welcome back here to beavers Field as we head to
the bottom of the fifth again, another run, a lot
of ones on the board for Mechanics Prog. And they've
scored a run in each of their last four innings
and they lead four to nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
Yeah, and again for Huntington instead of another beginning. They're
able to get themselves out of it just one run,
but again those one runs are now starting to pile
up in four and they've got to do something here offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
Leading off for Huntington will be the catcher Landon Lowry.
Huntington's still looking for the first base runner of the
ball game. Lowry Lowry flight out to left field in
(01:25:44):
the second INNINGNK back on the my own for Mechanicsburg.
He's been perfect so far. First pitch chopped foul and
(01:26:06):
Lowry that way up the middle and that's in for
a base hit job there, first hit first base runner four.
Huntington comes here in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Speaker 3 (01:26:17):
Lowry had some nice swings there in that second inning
as well, and flew out to left field. This time
he gets a base hit.
Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
Now batting Calvin Hirsch, we'll see ink out of the
stretch for the first time, comes set and delivers hirsh
Sky's one into right field, foss under it to make
the first out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
Again, starting to make a little bit better contact here
as Honeyton see hardest he comes in strike out victim
are in the second inning.
Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
Checking over on Lowry at first is ink, He's back
in there safely. Set out of the stretch is inc
lyne to the short stop on the second for one.
Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
Now first and he's in there safely. So the safe
on the fielder's choice is hardest eave Lowry out at
second for two outs. Now in the inning, the designated
hitter Sean Davis steps to the plate for Huntington. Hardesty
(01:27:53):
over at first, Now check on him at first, He's
back in there safely.
Speaker 2 (01:28:05):
First pitch to Davis and we're gonna get it called
balk So no, no pitch there as hardest team moves
up to second base. Huntington now has a man in
scoring position. With two ounce here in the bottom of
the fifth.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
That first runner to reach second base for Huntington big
time to get a base hit here.
Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
Mike comes set now delivers and that's a called strike
on the outside part of the plate to Davis. The
bit outside to me, no balls and a strike. Two
ounce here in the bottom of the fifth min delivers
(01:28:58):
swinging strike two. I'll be ready here if you're Davis,
be very defensive. The walls and two strikes, I aink
(01:29:20):
set and that found out of play as hardest he
was on the move from second.
Speaker 3 (01:29:27):
Yeah, you gotta get something going here, and so goat you.
Carol had the runner on the move. We'll do the
O two again. Two ounce here in the bottom of
the fifth ink, deliver swinging strike two. I'll be ready
(01:29:55):
here if you're Davis. Yeah, be very defensive.
Speaker 2 (01:30:03):
The walls and two shrikes I ain't set and that
found out of play as hardest he was on the
move from second.
Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
Yeah, you gotta get something going here, and so coach
Carol had the runner on the move.
Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
We'll do the O two again. Two ounce here, in
the bottom of the fifth Ink delivers that's outside. One
ball and two strikes. The one two found out of
(01:30:50):
play once more.
Speaker 3 (01:30:58):
See a lot of foul in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
Davis standing in one ball and two strikes with two outs,
and that one's found back like it went off the
leg of the catcher there and.
Speaker 3 (01:31:15):
Came up twirling around there trying to walk it off.
The fire walks the ball out to the pitcher. Give
them some time, how you what, those catchers and umpires
have to have a good relationship protecting each other behind
(01:31:36):
the plate. One ball and.
Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
Two strikes to Davis, runner in scoring position for Huntington,
that's hardest. He at second Minke deliverers and oh watch
a lioner that went right out of play over to
the hill.
Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
The race is on now with all the youngsters going
after the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:31:57):
And we'll do the one two again, but not before
or Lafarry wants to chat with I ain't going to mount.
Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
Lafarry finds his way back behind the plate in the
one too, another chopper behind the plate. Foul from Davis.
He that's four foul balls here for Davis. As he
stays alive, we'll do the one too again I Ain't
(01:32:40):
delivers and fouled.
Speaker 3 (01:32:43):
High back out of play. There's the youngster over there,
thought about catching it, but decided better let it hit
the ground first. Good job here by Davis staying alive.
Still one ball and two strikes. Iank delivers Hiss Hardest.
Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
He's running and Davis foust one out of play once again.
Speaker 3 (01:33:11):
Hardest is getting the workout. See chalks back to second
base and we'll get set yet again.
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
One ball, two strikes, two outs here in the bottom
of the fit, and that breaking ball is a called
strike three on.
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
The outside part of the plate.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
As Huntington gets their first base runner of the ball game,
but unable to get him around, We'll head to the
sixth inning. Now, Mechanicsburg on top of Huntington ford to nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
Welcome back to beavers Field Regional semi final action between
Huntington and Mechanicsburg. As we go to the sixth inning,
Now Mechanicsburg's on top four to nothing. That last inning
Huntington able to break up the perfect game that iincad going,
but unable to get a runner across as they still
(01:34:45):
trail four to nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:34:48):
Yeah and again, it's one run in each of the
last four innings for Mechanicsburg and seems like they've got
their leadoff runner on in each of those innings, and
it's got a oh, you're trying to battle three. He's
done a good job of, you know, limiting the amount
of runs, but just has not been able to keep
(01:35:11):
them scoreless since that first inning.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
It will be the nine to one to two hitters
of Foss, the Ferry, and Wilson for mechanics Burg's.
Speaker 3 (01:35:21):
That last inning.
Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
Ended with Foss at the plate and Lawhorn getting thrown
out at second on the steel attempt. So Foss will
come back to the plate with a fresh count. Now, oh,
(01:35:46):
you're back on the mound for Huntington. The wind up
first pitch lined in the center field, and that's going
to drop in for a base hit.
Speaker 3 (01:36:00):
In getting that lead off on our own for Mechanicsburg,
that is uh. I think I have him down for
nine hits now for Mechanicsburg. Now batting the catcher Crewe
La ferri zho for three on the day is Crewe.
(01:36:26):
He's betting four sixty eight. But the Huntington has done
a good job of keeping him off the base.
Speaker 2 (01:36:34):
First pitch is a breaking ball that stays high for
a ball one ball no strikes Foss over at first
as La Ferry squares the bunt back to play at
as ore as he throws it over to first, and
(01:36:56):
now it'll be the first out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (01:36:58):
He thought about second base there for a split second,
but decided to go ahead and take the out of first.
Speaker 2 (01:37:06):
As Foss moves up ninety feet, standing on second Now
as the first baseman Eli Wilson steps to the play
for mechanics.
Speaker 3 (01:37:15):
Purt Wilson's had a double RBI, reach base on a
base on balls and scored.
Speaker 2 (01:37:33):
Oh your checks back at second. The Foss gets back
in there safely. Officially Wilson one for two on the
night with an RBI. Oh you're come set out of
the stretch and down delivers breaking ball, stays high be
(01:37:53):
one ball and no strikes with one out here in
the top of the sixth inning, you're gonna balk on that.
Oh you're It gets called for a valk.
Speaker 3 (01:38:17):
As.
Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
There was some confusion there. Now I think coach Carroll
is gonna come out and ask about it. I thought, oh,
you decided to step off the mound. Oh, nonetheless, Foss
is gonna move up ninety feet. Now he stands on
third base with one out here in the top of
(01:38:39):
the six one ball and no strikes. To Wilson, that
pitch was found off to the right side, one ball
and one strike. Oh, here gets the sign from Lowry.
(01:39:06):
Now he comes set and delivers high fly ball. Second basement.
Hardesty over to play it, and he's under it for
the second out of the inning. Good throw into the catcher,
holds Foss at third.
Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
A really good job there as the same basement, going
out there fighting the sun and was able to make
that catch and hold the runner a third. So again,
here's a chance to get out of the any no runs,
But Connor I ain't coming to battle and he's gonna
get intentionally walked again.
Speaker 2 (01:39:46):
So Ankle take first base in the second basement. Hank
Hoffman will come to the plate for mechanics Burg with
runners on the corners.
Speaker 3 (01:39:54):
Two ounce here in the top of the sixth inning.
Back in the fourth and end, they did this as
same exact thing, and a Huffman flight out the left field.
Speaker 2 (01:40:14):
Oh you're come set out of the stretch. Checks that
first in there doesn't make a throw? Was he all
will check both runners and see what they're doing. Now,
(01:40:35):
oh you're come set again, looks at first now delivers,
ain't running Lowry's gonna fake a throw and they'll allow
Ike to take second base.
Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
Two outs in the inning, no balls in a strike
on the batter.
Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
Huffman runners his second third. Now, oh your come set,
now delivers and that's outside for a ball one ball
and one strike. Oh your set for the one one
(01:41:21):
swung on hit into the left field. McKnight lets it
drop in front of him for a base hit, one
run score, and now I comes around second to score.
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Well, Huffman came through for him this time basse hit
the left field brings in two runs. So two RBIs
for Huffman there, and that moves it to six to nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:41:46):
Mccannsburg on top of Huntington coach Carroll's gonna come out
and make a change on the mount. It looks like
Hopkins is going to come over from third base and
step to the mound for Huntington.
Speaker 3 (01:42:07):
So, oh, you'res coming out of the game. Good job
by Andrew really trying to battle through here all day long,
and seems like he was pitching from the stretch since
what the second batter of that first ending almost so
we saw Hopkins come in for the last two outs
(01:42:30):
there in the Southeastern game and he was able to
get the two batters he faced. Looking at the season,
Hopkins twenty eight innings pitched, three and one, A, three
five zero are A, twenty strikeouts and sixteen walks on
(01:42:50):
the year, it's like we've got some defensive changes as well.
We'll try to get those here.
Speaker 2 (01:43:00):
In just a second, I can tell if that's McDonald
going to second, somebody's got to go to third, So
let's see if we can't get some guys to turn around.
Speaker 3 (01:43:20):
That's McDonald there at second. Twenty four right, yep, so
McDonald and for Hardesty at second. Hardesty moves over to
(01:43:44):
short maybe with Frankie Hirsch gooring to third. Looks like
Hopkins still continues his warm up pitches here again six
nothing Mechanicsburg over Huntington. Here in this regional semi final game,
(01:44:04):
we're in the top of the sixth inning and two outs.
Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
The winner moves on to face the winner of the
second game. Here at Beaver's Field between Waterford and Highland,
Hopkins will step to the mound now and he'll face
the short stop body DeLong.
Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
So we got McDonald at short. Now, we have Hardesty
at states at second, and we got Calvin hirschover at
or no, I'm sorry, Frankie Hirsh at third.
Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
Hopkins set out of the stretch. Now he delivers and
that ball gets away from Lowry and Huffman's gonna move
up to second base on the wild pitch m one
(01:45:09):
ball and no strikes to DeLong. Two ounce here and
the top of the sixth running at second base Hopkins again,
that's one go outside and all the way to the
back stop. As Huffin moves up to third base. Now,
(01:45:32):
so we got ye two balls and no strikes to
DeLong running own third base is huffing. Two ounce here
and the top of the six and that one's outside again.
(01:45:53):
Three balls and no strikes to the DeLong.
Speaker 8 (01:45:59):
MHM.
Speaker 2 (01:46:03):
The three to zero and that's in there for a
called strike. Three balls and one strikes three to one
from Hopkins, fouled down the right side, out of play.
(01:46:33):
Loves account full. Three balls and two strikes now Hopkins
out of the wind up and that's fouled down the
right side. We'll do the three two once again. The
(01:46:54):
body DeLong and that's lined up the middle over to
make the play on it's hard to over to first
scooped at first base thereby Smith. As we head to
the bottom of the sixth. Now, mechanics for are on
top of Huntington sixth to nothing. You're listening to high
school baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 3 (01:47:18):
Ben Doug there's nowhere.
Speaker 6 (01:47:20):

The Scioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 3 (01:47:54):
Welcome back to beavers Field.
Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
Here in Lancaster, Ohio Regional semi final action between Huntington
and Mechanicsburg. As we head to the bottom of the
sixth Mechanicsburg is on top six to nothing after they
played it two runs here in the top of the
six and chased the starter.
Speaker 3 (01:48:13):
Oh you're out of the game. Oh you're went five
and a two thirds and he gave up eleven hit
six runs, four based on balls, two of those were intentional,
and one strikeout. So again he battled through here today,
but a lot of uh, you know, the two walks
(01:48:35):
and really the two intentional walks as well. Some of
them came back to haunt him. And again he did
a great job of battling for his team here today.
But right now his team has really got a battle offensively.
They have not been able to get anything going against Ink.
And you got two at bats left.
Speaker 2 (01:48:57):
Caden Banker stepping in for Hnnington. Now it's batting three
sixteen on the year. Takes that first pitch for strike.
I think back on the maw for mechanics burg Tacond
pitch chop foul quickly in an O two hole?
Speaker 3 (01:49:18):
Is Baker okay? When you look at this Huntington team,
pretty young team, quite a few sophomores and a few
freshmen out there are Hopkins of freshmen and Calvin Hirsch
a freshman, and Maverick Hardesty of freshmen. The O two
(01:49:43):
was taken for a ball.
Speaker 2 (01:49:44):
Now the one two chop to the right side, and
that's going to go just foul the first base there.
Speaker 3 (01:49:51):
We've seen McKnight, McDonald, Baker. Those guys are all sophomores.
Frank You, USA junior Lowry a junior, two seniors listed
on their roster, Ojure.
Speaker 2 (01:50:08):
And Davis that time, the one who was outside. So
two balls and two strikes now to Baker, thank you.
Out of the wind up. That's going to be outside.
The count goes full. Now three balls, two strikes to Baker,
lead off man here in the bottom of the sixth
(01:50:33):
ye three two, and that's in there for a call,
strike three for the first out of the inning. A
strikeout number seven for Ink in this game. Looks like
we got another pen shitter coming up. Would be number
(01:50:58):
twenty two.
Speaker 8 (01:51:00):
Twenty two. Avery thoughts at the plate.
Speaker 3 (01:51:04):
No, that's Sam's first pits taken for a ball. Twenty
two is Peyton SAMs. He's another sophomore crush swinging strike,
one ball and one strike. Peyton Sam's came in the
(01:51:30):
game for Oger when the pitching change was made. I
think Peyton Sam's is out in left field.
Speaker 8 (01:51:37):
Sam's at the plate.
Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
And the one two balls inside even the count, two
balls and two strikes. I steps off the mound. Now
the ferry redes the signals and delivers and that's a
swinging strike three. The second out of the inning. Lineup
(01:52:03):
turns over now for Huntington as the short stop. Frankie
Hirsch steps to the plate.
Speaker 3 (01:52:09):
Frankie Hirsch he's grounded out to the pitcher and the
second baseman here today over two.
Speaker 2 (01:52:24):
I think out of the wind up the livers first
fouls a straight back into the netting no balls and
a strike, you know, one, two, three for each of
the innings, except that last inning of the fifth inning,
Huntington able to get a base hit and a runner over.
Speaker 3 (01:52:41):
To second.
Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
First jam shot into center field, and that's going to
fall in for a base hit base runner for Huntington.
Now two outs here in the bottom of the six
that second base hit for Huntington. And see if they
don't put the hirsh in motion here, maybe even tried
(01:53:07):
a bunt here at third baseman playing back at normal death.
Now he's walking in a couple. Now he goes back
the short stop. Now Troy McDonald stepping in for Huntington.
So we get another pickoff over at Hirsh at first,
and he's back in there safely. I ain't coming set
(01:53:34):
out of the stretch now, swinging foul ball from McDonald,
be no balls in a strike.
Speaker 3 (01:53:42):
He swung at a ball there that was a little high.
Another pickoff attempt to Hirsh over at first. It's a
sixth nothing lead, for Mechanicsburg and they're worried about the
guy down there at first.
Speaker 2 (01:54:00):
IK now to the plate and that ball is going
to be high and outside be one ball and one strike.
Now with two outs here in the bottom of the sixth,
I come set for the one to one. Now delivers
chopped between the third bait. The shortstop makes a diving play,
(01:54:21):
but he's not gonna have a play at any base,
and that'll be an infield single for McDonald.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
Yep, back to back bait hits here for Huntington. That's
the first time we've seen that. And now you got
two runners on and uh, Tucker Hopkins coming to the plate.
Tucker Hopkins, we're gonna get a It's like we had
a malfunction down there at first base.
Speaker 2 (01:54:50):
We got that taking care. Here we go pitcher Tucker
Hopkins standing in for Huntington. Now the runners on first
and second, two outs here in the bottom of the sixth,
INK comes set and he delivers, and that'll be a
swing strike one to Hopkins. Hopkins grinding out the third
(01:55:12):
base in the first Indian strike out victim in the
fourth and the one is skied in foul territory and
that's gonna go out of play down the left field side.
Speaker 3 (01:55:27):
I think that's the first foul we've seen it down
that way today.
Speaker 2 (01:55:35):
No balls and two strikes now for Tucker Hopkins. Runners
on first and second. As Laferi calls time and goes
checks with his pitcher. Inc he's gone five and two
(01:55:57):
thirds so far, scoreless, only three. It's given up and
Nola ferries back behind home plate. I comes step for
the O two and that ball is outside. One ball
on two strikes now to Hopkins. I ain't ready with
(01:56:27):
the one too, and that one goes by Hopkins for
strike three, and that's how the sixth inning will come
to a close. Two runners left on base for Huntington
as Mechanicsburg. Mechanicsburg leads sixth nothing here in the regional
semi finals. You're listening to high school baseball. Here on
ninety four Country w.

Speaker 2 (01:57:23):
Welcome back to beavers Field here in Lancaster, Ohio. Regional
semi final action between Huntington and Mechanicsburg, where Mechanicsburg is
on top sixth to nothing as we head to the seventh.
Tucker Hopkins, who came in to get the final out
of the sixth inning, is now back on the mound
(01:57:44):
for Huntington as he will face.
Speaker 3 (01:57:51):
I think that's uh, is that the the long Corbyn.
Speaker 2 (01:57:55):
I should have the six, seven, and eight hole hitters
for we can't expire. We'll get them as they come
to the play that will be delonged to lead off.
Speaker 3 (01:58:16):
Lowry finally makes his way behind the plate here and
I think we'll get this ball thrown down and we'll
be ready to go here to start the top of
the sixth again. Mechanicsburg has been able to score in
each of the innings two, three, four, five, and six
(01:58:38):
scored one in the second, one in the third, one
in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in
the sixth for the sixth nothing deficit.
Speaker 2 (01:58:48):
Hopkins is three and one on the year, a three
point five er with twenty strike counts, sixteen wall and
fourteen earned runs in his twenty eight innings of work.
Speaker 3 (01:59:07):
And remember he's only a freshman.
Speaker 2 (01:59:13):
Landing DeLong at the plate, a lefty for Mechanicsburg, takes
the first pitch for a ball Hopkins out of the
wind up the livers. That's going to be outside for
ball two. Two to O from Hopkins, and that one's
(01:59:46):
outside again. Three balls and no strikes. Now two DeLong
three to oh from Hopkins, and that bounces across the
plate and that'll be a free pass forward DeLong three.
Speaker 3 (02:00:11):
Again. A leadoff guy on base for mechanics Burgard Lawhorns
step into the plate for Mechanicsburg. As we move.
Speaker 2 (02:00:23):
Thought we may get a picture runner there as coach
headed over to his dougout. But now Lawhorn is going
to step in first. One from Hopkins, that's in there
for a strike. The balls in a strike to Lawhorn
(02:00:51):
and that's chopped to the second basement on the short
for one the first and in time for the double
play was turned thereby who was that McDonald out there
at short artisty to McDonald and then over to Smith
at first for the double play, six four three.
Speaker 3 (02:01:14):
Two outs.
Speaker 2 (02:01:15):
Now has the center fielder Coulton Salar steps to the
plate and that first one was in there for a
cold or the offer at that one for the strike,
(02:01:39):
No balls in a strike two ounce here in the
top of the seventh inning, squaring the bunt pop up
out of play for a foul ball.
Speaker 3 (02:01:55):
Oh one two. Hopkins ahead big time here on the batter.
This could be a one two three a somewhat have
not had an anywhere they've only faced with three batters
all day.
Speaker 2 (02:02:14):
Hopkins ready for the O two and that one swung
on and found down the left field side. So we'll
do no balls and two strikes once again from Hopkins
(02:02:35):
two and that's low for a ball. One ball and
two strikes. Now with two outs here and the top
of the seventh, Yeah, you can definitely tell school is out.
Speaker 3 (02:02:47):
You have a lot of kids just running around the
field here and beautiful.
Speaker 2 (02:02:53):
Day one two is inside evens up the count two
balls and two strikes.
Speaker 3 (02:02:58):
Now both teams for the next games already here looking
and watching on.
Speaker 2 (02:03:06):
And a chopper back to Hompkins. He makes the play
now over to first and now I'll do it here
in the top of the seventh no runs for Mechanicsburg
that inning. As we head to the bottom of the
seventh Mechanicsburg on top six to nothing, you're listening to
high school baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
Welcome back to beavers Field. Here for a regional semi
final action between Mechanicsburg and Huntington. As we head to
the bottom of the seventh Mechanicsburg is on top of
Huntington sixth to nothing, three ounce to play with for
Huntington as they look to continue their season.
Speaker 3 (02:04:22):
Yeah, and Connor Ink has done a great job out
there on the mound. As he goes out there trying
to finish his game off, I thought, maybe we get
another picture in there, maybe just saving any and for
him and for tomorrow. But I'm not sure exactly the
pitch count and where that is and if he would
even be able to go tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:04:44):
So leading off for Huntington here in the bottom of
the seventh will be the catcher Landon Lowry.
Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
I believe that.
Speaker 2 (02:04:57):
The first base hit for Huntington in this one on
them only.
Speaker 3 (02:05:00):
Three so far. Yes, he has one for two on
the night. His other at bat he flew out to
left field, so he's had good at bats against Ink.
It's the infield makes their way back to their positions
and the Ferry back behind the plate. First pitch, swinging
(02:05:27):
strike one quickly back to the plate is inking a
swinging strike two, two balls and no strikes. Now the Lowry.
Speaker 2 (02:05:45):
And swinging strike three is Lowery's sitting down on three
pitches for the first out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (02:05:53):
Yeah, that was the old good morning, good afternoon, good
night for three hirsh.
Speaker 2 (02:06:00):
The right fielder Calvin Hurst stepping into the plate now
for Huntington. One out here in the bottom of the
seventh inc off speed, that's high, one ball and no strikes.
The one zero that's in there for a cold strike
(02:06:23):
given the count, one ball and one strike. Quickly to
the plate and his inc and that's a swinging strike too,
ready for the one too, and that's blooped into right center.
(02:06:44):
The center fielder over to play it, and he's there
for the second out. It's golden sires over to make
the play. Two outs. Now as the second baseman Maverick
Hardesty steps to the.
Speaker 3 (02:06:57):
Plate again, hunting just just run again, run up against
a really good pitcher here again zero point five to
two e r A for the season.
Speaker 2 (02:07:11):
Lays down the bunt, catch the ik over to make
a diving play and just not in time.
Speaker 3 (02:07:19):
Mavery custle down the line there and got himself a base.
Speaker 2 (02:07:22):
Hit, nice played by Iink coming off the mound, sliding
into it. Gathered himself and had an attempt over at
first place, but it was just.
Speaker 3 (02:07:36):
Not in time.
Speaker 2 (02:07:38):
Smith Carson Smith, the first baseman, stepping in now for Huntington.
Two outs here in the bottom of the seventh. The
runner on first, coach Ink steps out of the dugout
(02:08:00):
now to talk to his pitcher in his infield.
Speaker 3 (02:08:10):
Yeah, it's uh two outs, run around first and you
make a mountain visit here up six nothing.
Speaker 2 (02:08:25):
As the skipper makes his way back to the dugout,
I think finds his way back on the rubber as
Davis sorry Smith steps in for Rontington. First pitch is
high for a ball, one ball, no strikes.
Speaker 3 (02:08:55):
His hardest.
Speaker 2 (02:08:56):
He's not being held over at first the one, oh
was fouled evens account one ball and one strike one
one to Smith and oh my, that's the outside part
(02:09:22):
of the plate for a strike.
Speaker 3 (02:09:23):
One ball and two strikes. Now, not sure where that
hit the plate, but it seems a little outside one.
Speaker 2 (02:09:33):
Two man swinging strike three, and that's how this one's
gonna end. Mechanics Burg is gonna move on to the
regional finals. I'll play the winner of the final game
here between Waterford and Highland, and for Huntington their season
comes to a close here in the regional semis. We'll

Welcome back to beavers Field here where regional semi final
action just came to a close between Huntington and Mechanicsburg.
Mechanicsburg moving on from the final score six to nothing
for Mechanicsburg they moved to twenty two and three on
the season and Huntington they fall to eighteen in ten.
(02:11:01):
Good season for hunting ten. They were six and eight
in conference play, finish fifth, but they made it all
the way here to the regional tournament and the last
SVC team standing.
Speaker 3 (02:11:13):
Yeah, they had a really outstanding season. Eighteen wins on
the air, it's nothing to you know, hang your head
over and getting to the regionals for a second time
in school history. They just came up against a pitcher
who was really hot and really good and was able
to throw strikes and you were not able to get
you know, solid hits off them. They were able to
(02:11:34):
get four hits and we're able to get a couple
of runners to second base. But when you look at
the line score Mechanicsburg six runs, eleven hits, eight runners
left on base, it could have been a lot worse
than those six runs. Huntington was able to limit some
of the damage in many of those innings. You look
at Honeyton, no runs, four hits, one air, and four
(02:11:54):
left on base. So again the pitching line, it's when
you look at the two pitchers, Andrew oh five and
two thirds inning, eleven hits, six runs, four walks, two
of those intentional, one strikeout. I thought Hopkins came in
and did a really good job for Tucker. Hopkins one
in the third inning, no hits, no runs, no walks
(02:12:17):
and only faced four batters. He got four outs with
only facing four batters, so he had that big double
play really helped him out. But I thought he did
a good job as a freshman coming in. And then
you talk about ink seven innings, pitch, four hits, no runs,
no walks, and eleven strikeouts. So Mechanicsburg moves on to
(02:12:38):
play the winner as you said of Waterford and Berlin Highland,
the game that would come up later on today. But again,
great season for Huntington. SVC had another team make it
to the regionals this year, and it was fun, you know,
doing games with you, Chris again here in the spring
and really good. We enjoy coming out here and calling
(02:12:59):
these games and these teams in the SVC and other
area team like Logan Elm Circleville. We really enjoyed this
year doing those games and hopefully we were able to
bring something to our broadcast and hopefully everyone enjoyed that. Chris,
it's wonderful due games with you, you know, as a
(02:13:20):
father being able to do it with your son, that
was awesome. So you know, until next year, I guess again,
let me go back to the two seniors for Huntington.
Two seniors here, Andrew You're and Sean Davis. They in
their careers at Huntington High School. But the rest of
those guys are coming back, and man, they got some
solid players coming back for next year's team. So coach
(02:13:40):
Carrol's got to be really excited.
Speaker 2 (02:13:43):
Well that does it for the twenty twenty five twenty
twenty six athletic season. Here on ninety four Country. We're
excited for what's to come next year. A lot of
young athletes. We'll be back in all three sports that
