Welcome into another night of high school baseball here on
ninety four Country WKKJ. Tonight we have a rivalry game
Acrosstown Ribberry between the Unioto Shermans and the Chillicothy Cavaliers.
And we're getting ready to start here. It's Jack Welch,
the leadoff atter for UNI Yoto, steps in against E.

Shawn Brown, the pitcher for Chillicothe. And as I said,
this is a non league game. Both teams have finished
their league seasons. Chilli Coonty ended up third in the
FAC and Uni Yodo ended up second in the SVC.
And Jack Welsh here standing and in. It's the count

(01:01):
right now is two or one and two on Jack
Welsh as he leads off for the Uniodo Sherman's. Jack
is batting three forty eight here this year. He batted
second for most of this season. So it looks like
Tony Taylor's shaking up the lineup just a little bit
here in this non league game as they get ready
to go into tournaments. That is lowball two, two and

two here on the lead off batter. What a wonderful
night here for baseball in Chilicothy. This is a home
game for the Chillicothe Cavaliers, so we're on their baseball
field on the east end of Chillicothe. Swinging a miss.
That'll be the first out here of the top of
the first inning, first strikeout for Seawn Brown. E Sean

Brown has been really a workhorse for this Chilicothe team
on the mound. He's logged about thirty innings here this year,
and not a lot of them have been starts, but
in he's had positive outings when he's come in. So
one out and batter is now Speakman for Unioto, and

that's going to be fouled down the first baseline. Caden
Speakman is the right fielder tonight for uni Yodo Speakman
steps in here this year batting two eighty four on
the season, So no balls, one strike on Speakman. As

e Sean Brown gets ready to deliver the first or
second pitch, that's going to be a high fly ball.
It's going out to the shortstop. Centerfielder comes in, but
shortstop waves him off and he will make the catch.
That is Moss playing shortstop for the Cavaliers. Levi Moss

makes the second out for the Cavaliers. Jackson Zickafus now
stepping in for the Unioda Shermans normal leadoff batter for
Unioda here tonight. He's batting third, three to twenty one
on this season for this senior. As he gets ready
for the first pitch from E Sean Brown, pitch swing

right down the right field or right field line. It's
going to bend foul. It is me flying flying solo
here tonight. So you have loop postage and no one
else except for the wonderful producer in the studio, Sydney
Newsom making us me sound good here tonight hopefully, but again,

just a beautiful night for baseball here in Chillicothe. As
E Sean Brown gets ready for the next pitch and
it is grounder to shortstop Moss with it up, and
it's going to be too late. So Jackson Zickafuse legs
out a base hit here in the first inning. I

think lev aon Moss just sort of waited on that
ball to come to him and didn't realize how quick
of a runner Jackson Zickafoose was he was able to
get down the line and beat out that throw. So
one runner on base here, and you gotta think that
Jackson Zickerfoos may be on the go here from first base,
but uh, Blake Sanders steps in first baseman here tonight

for you Yodo. E Sean Brown looks over the first
at Jackson Zickafouse two fifty five is Sanders. Zickafous goes
on the first no throw, so he's going to get
there with a stolen base no throw, So u ni
Yodo has runner in scoring position here in the top

looks back at Zickafus second and the pitch that's low
and outside that is one and one on Blake Sanders
here Chillicothe in their all white uniforms with royal blue

lettering and a white cap, and Jackson Zickfus takes off
for third base. That ball gets loose, Zickafoo's up. He's
going to have to stay there though, as he could
not get up in time and make that run home,
so that he steals second and third. So that's two
stolen bases for Jackson zickafoos, and now we've got a

runner just ninety feet away. Two balls and one strike
on Blake Sanders two out here and the top of
the first, you know in their white pants, blacktops with
gold numerals outlined in purple and gold, he's Sean Brown.

With the pitch Sanders swings, that's a fly ball second basement.
Looks like he's drifting out and he's gonna make the catch.
So even though they had a run and a runner
left on base, no runs in that inning. As we

Unido Shermans now take the field for the bottom of
the first inning. Pitching tonight for Uniudo, making his first
varsity start, is Gabe Juwannacorn. He's a freshman, and again,

as we get late in the year, you try to
expand your roster a little bit. Here in then not
a league game. Tony Taylor alects to throw the freshman
Gabe Jouannacorn. So looking around the defense, David Long plays third,
Jackson Zickafuse at shortstop, Carter Elliott second base, Blake Sanders

(07:47):
at first base. In the outfield you have left fielder
Braydon White, Jack Welch in center field, and in right
field it's Kate Speakman. Grady Goebel is the catcher for
you IODO. Leading off for Chillicothy tonight will be Connor Bolan,
the second baseman. He'll be followed by Jaydon Gallagher, the

left fielder. The pitcher is Sean Brown bats third. Kay
Griffy the catcher will bat fourth. Tay Harris bats fifth
and he's the third baseman tonight. Number six is Rucker
Deddy the right fielder, Levi Moss the shortstop at seven.
Eight In Scales the first baseman, will bet eight, and
James Wrinkle, the center fielder, he will bet ninth. So

again for Chillicothy, it will be Bowling, Gallagher, Brown, Griffy, Harris, Deddy, Moss,
Scales and Wrinkle. As we wrap up the warm up
tosses here, the throw goes down and we're going to
get the bottom of the first underway here and as
I said, this will be the first firsty start here

for gave Juwannaicorn the freshman. As the fielders get back
into their spot and Connor Boling will step in. Connor

Boling batting two seventy five on the year, it's gonna
be a little low ball one to Bolin. A little
bit of a breeze blowing out the right field here tonight,

not much pitch number two that's a swing on and
foul back, so that'll be one in one on Connor Bolan.

U Nyoto is sixteen and six on the overall on
the year, Chillicothy is eight to twelve and the pitch
that's going to be outside all two two balls and
one strike to Connor Bollen. As I said, league season

wrapped up third place for Chillicothy in the FAC, second
place for Unyoto in the SVC. Both of them are
in different divisions as the tournament goes on. That pitch
is outside three and one. Chillicothy will be in Division
two and they play at Athens next week for tournament

play and Unyota will be in Division four and they
will await the winner of I believe Logan Elm. That's
a strike call three and two now on Connor Bowl.
Unioddo will await the winner of Logan Elm and Vinton
County and that game will be on May twenty third

at the VA Memorial Stadium. That's a Saturday at one
thirty start for Unioto and most likely we will have
that right here on the radio. And that ball is
high and a leadoff walk for Connor Bullen. Connor Bullen
has great on base percentage year and that's why he's
in the leadoff spot. Next step four Tilli Cathy will

be the left fielder. Jaden Gallagher runnerund first base, Juwanna
Corny will have to keep an eye on him. Gallagher
three point thirty three on the season. And the pitch,
that ball is fouled right back behind us. Here my

vantage point is on the third base side of the
home plate, right next to the home dugout of the
Tiller Cothy Cavaliers. Jaydan Gallagher awaits the pitch from Gave.
Juana Corn looks over at first base. Now the pitch

bowling goes hit right back off of Juana corn and
that's going to be all runners safe. So a little
hit and run play there by Chillicothe, and that proves
well for them. As the runner gets to second base.
And because that ball got or sort of got off
of Juanna Korn's club, no one could really make a

play in the field. So that'll be a base hit
for Jaden Gallagher. That brings up e Sean Brown, the
pitcher here. No out's too on for this threat here
for Chillicothy. At the bottom of the first inning, runners
at second and first. Juanna corn looks at the runners

and now the pitch Brown takes it bounce catcher can't
find it. Now he does, that ball was just sitting
right by his foot, but as he was looking around,
he kept moving on him, so no one was able
to move forward because that ball never really got away
from the catcher. So there'll be one ball, no strikes

on E Sean Brown. A look at the runners and
the pitch swing and a hit right to shortstop short
stop the second hole. That is thrown away, so we're
gonna get the first run. Come around third bowling scores.
Gallagher goes to third base on that air, and we

E Sean Brown going to give that an air on
the play, as that throw to second base was not
handled by Elliott and allowed the runner to go from

Runner goes to second and catcher does not throw what
looks runner back at third, so E Sean Brown goes

Juanacoran awaiting the pitch sign and the pitch that's a

awaits the two pitch. Here steps out nobody out runners
at second and third for CHILLICOTHI here as they've already
done it a run in the bottom of the first

and the pitch the low outside one and two. Beautiful
setting here at Chillicotti as you can see some of
the rolling hills of southern Ohio there in the outfield,
and beautiful sunshine beating down on the field. As Juanicaan

gets ready to pitch, and that pitch is going to
be inside two and two. I think this field was
built about six years ago. Seven years ago, maybe they
had a field over near the high school and they

moved it over to this spot. And the pitch hit
between short stop and third base. One run scores, second
run coming around, and that'll be a base hit for
Griffy as he scores two and now that makes it
a three nothing Chilicothy lead. Here is Kate Griffy knocks
in two runs so that two run single for Kate Griffy.

That brings up Tay Harris, a third baseman runner on
first Kate Griffy. After that two run single, Tay Harris
betting three point fifty seven, Tawanacorn looks at the runner

at first, no one out, still runner at first, throw
over the first very close. He gets back in time
till Kathy has been able to make some hits count
and hit him whether or not. I Wanicorn back over

the first base, and I guess I missed that. We
had a runner come in there. That is Walker thrown
over there on first base as a runner for the
catcher Griffy. So Walker thrown is the runner at first.

Tay steps out as in the distance you can hear
the train horn as the train is coming through town.

To Wanicorn gets his sign, looks the runner first and
the pitch Hi, that'll be one ball, no strikes, bottom

of the first, nobody out, three nothing Chillicothe base hit
right past the third baseman. Runner was going, but he
could not go to third. So the hit parade continues
for the Cavaliers. Tay Harris single into left field and

Walker Throne goes on to second, so runners now first
and second. No money out here in the bottom of
the first inning. As I said, Chilliicothy will start there
tournament against Athens in that game will be at Athens

High School. That ball is outside. That'll be next Wednesday,
down to Athens High School. And I spoke miss correctly
about the unioda. Unioda will not be next Saturday, but
it'll be the following Saturday. The twenty third base hit,

the shortstop Zekafus goes to second for one out, so
fielder's choice there. As Ruckerdetty is safe at first, Harris
will be out. That'll be a fielder's choice. Walker Throne
advances to third base, so you have runners on the
corners now with one out, and Levi Moss, the shortstop,

steps in. Levi Moss has played in multiple roles for Chillicothy.
Tonight he's playing shortstop. Pitch bouncer to shortstop to second

base here this evening, Scales batting one to seventy five

in the first inning, as this is the eighth man

four in Uniota. Nothing as Junior getting ready to come
to bat here in the second inning. Looking at the
tournament bracket that just came out early this morning. Late
last night, unioda number two seed in Division four. Fairfield

Junior was the number one seed. So Uniyoda will play
their first game in the District SEMIS at the VA
Memorial Stadium on May twenty third at one point thirty.
As I said, we will have that game on the radio.
They will be facing the winner of Logan Elm and
Vinton County. So coming to bat here for Chillicothe will

be David Long. All right, I'm sorry, coming to bat
for Nyoda, will be David Long here to start the
top of the second inning. That pitches low for a ball.
Long steps in at two point fifty four on the year.

That's a swing and that's a hit to center field.
Center fielder getting ready to get underneath it and it
catches its wrinkle. So one out here in the top
of the second Carter Elliott now steps in for Uniotto.
He is the second baseman here tonight. Elliott steps in,

the pitcher for Chilicothy swing right back up the middle,
and that's going to be a base hit for Carter
Elliott went right by e Sean Brown and could not
get a glove on it, So that'll be the first

the left fielder, steps in now for Uniodo. Braiden White

on some errors and a couple wild pitches, so two
out runner first. As we get back to the top
of the lineup. In Jack Welsh, Jack Welch was a
strikeout victim in the first inning. One ball nose strikes

here as he bats in the second and the pitch
swing flyball to right field. Right fielder looks at it
and catches for the third out of the inning. But
in the inning, U Nyoto does get two runs on

one hit with one runner left on base. After an

Junior four to two. Looking at Division three tournament bracket,
which that is Chillikathy the Chilli Coothe at the fifth
seed and they will play at Athens the four seed
on May twentieth a five pm. The winner of that

game will face the winner of Jackson and Marietta Jackson,
the number one seed. Jackson was the league champion in
the Frontier Athletic Conference till Academy. They ended up third
in that. I believe Miami Trace ended up runner up.
Miami Trace is the number two seed in Division three.

(33:15):
Miami Trace faces Worn and then the three seed Sheridan
faces Hillsboro. So remember seven divisions in high school baseball.
And here in our area we have teams from Division
three all the way down to Division six and Division

four or so, I'm sorry, Division five. As we look
at that bracket as well, the SVC League champion Zane
Trace got the fourth seed in that Saint Trace seventeen
and six overall. They will face the winner of Chesapeake
and West Union and that game will be Thursday day,

(34:00):
May twenty first, and that'll be at Zane Trace High School.
Since they are the higher seed. We will pick up
Zane Trace if they are able to make it to
the district semis on May twenty seventh at the Chillicothy
VA Memorial Stadium, and in that game they could possibly

(34:21):
play the winner of Ironton and Portsmouth West. And again
that's all depending on wins and as the tournament goes on.
But great site for tournament baseball the Chilicoti VA Memorial
Stadium in the Southeast district. When you get to district play,

you have two great venues o Higher University and rend
the stadium down there and the VA Memorial Stadium. As
we get ready for baseball. Here in the bottom of
the second for Chillicathy, it's the number thirty four, James
Wrinkle steps in. Wrinkle the center fielder for tonight's game.

One ball, no strikes. That ball is foul and out
of play. One on one. I mentioned, nice and cool
evening when the sun goes down behind those clouds, very

peaceful again, as I said, the wind pretty much virtual.
No one right now. Pitched by Juanicorn. That's line to
center field. Jack Welsh under it and it waits and
makes the catch. So one out here in the bottom
of the second inning, as we go back to the

top of the order for CHILICANTHI and Connor Bullen. Bullen
led off the game with a base on balls, came
around and scored the first run for Tillicathy in that
four run inning. Second inning of work for gave Juanna

no strikes. Okay, Juanna Corn with the sign and the

pitch at ball's flow out to right field. Right fielder
comes in and makes the catch and Connor Bullen stumbled
as he was going down first base line. But two

That brings up Jayden Gallagher, the left fielder here tonight,
who had a base hit in the first inning, came
around and scored. Pitch outside one and oh special. Thanks
to Newt Bonner and Tom Barr, the baseball coach here
and Newt the athletic director for Tellicothy for getting us

set up here tonight and allowing this to happen. Pitches
low to the backstop, two balls and those strikes. We tried.
This brings something new and try to do at least
one baseball game a week and think it has gone
pretty well. And thanks to VA Memorial Stadium for allowing

us to cover some games there. But it's always nice
to get to the high schools and see some of
the action there. Foul ball down the left field line
for Gallagher. Two balls in one strike. A couple of
weeks ago we had thriller here went nine innings, Zaydan
trace able to defeat Unyodo two to nothing in that

game as it went nine innings. So we've had some
really good baseball here. On ninety four Country WKKJ Pitch

to third base. David Long gets it on a hop
throw to first in the dirt is gonna be safe.
He had to hurry his throw there. That was a
high hopper there and throw just not in time. We're
gonna get base hit there the Jaden Gallagher. He got
down that line awfully quick, nice strong throw there by

long but again it was a little low and unable
to come up over a first base. But Jaden Gallagher
was already past the bag once that throw got there.
So two outs. Runner at first here for Chillicothe. Is
Gallagher two for two On the evening, Sean Brown steps
in for Chillicati e Sewn reached on an air that

allowed the first run to score for Chillicothe in the
first inning. Shawn and then came around and scored as well.

As I said, it is four to two Chilikathy as
we enter the third inning in niudo coming up to bat,
and that batter will be Kate Speakman, who made the
final out there of the second inning out in right field.

Looking further into the tournament bracket, go down to now
Division six, which many of the SVC teams find themselves
in Division six, and the number one seed in Division
six is Huntington High School. Huntington finished I believe fourth

(42:55):
in the SVC, but they are the number one seed
in Division six. And again seeds are done by the
mathematical formula, the computerized formula that they use for football,
basketball and now baseball in the spring. So number one
seed goes to Huntington. They will play Saturday, May twenty

third against the winner of Sims Valley in North Adams.
Also in there be number four seeds Southeastern from the SVC.
They will play Belprie next Tuesday. We'll look at some
other of those here as the evening goes on, Speakman,

now that's pitch. Back to the picture. It goes off
his glove, and Speakman's going to be safe there at
first base. So again right back to the picture, and
it goes off of E. Shaun Brown's glove, and Speakman's
going to get a base hit out of that. So

he's down first base and nobody out. Now Jackson zikapous
to the plate. He singled in the first inning. Had
two stolen bases in that inning as well, so no

bring Speakman to third. Zikafu now safe at first base.
On the sharp pit down to third base, air there
on the throw, and that'll bring up number twenty three,

Blake Sanders, the first baseman. Runners at the corners. No
one out here for this threat. In the third inning
for Unioto Brown's pitch, Zikafus takes off for second, no throw,
so runners at second and third with two outs. As

Ball is knocked down but away from the third baseman
and short stop. Three at to third, but they could
not get Sanders going from second to third, so Zickafu scores.
The game is now tied four to four. Sanders is

is four to four. That will bring Carter Elliott to
the plate, who scored the first Uniota run after his
base hit in the second inning. As he bats in

and nobody out for Uniota. Again, not a lot of
balls hit out of the infield. They did have a

the catcher goes out and has a little quick meeting

as Wrinkle now comes in to take over for him,
and that first pitch is a ball, So Goebel at

So if they can get go go on, they can
turn the lineup over so that ball gets away from
the catcher, but not enough for the runner to take off.

Welcome back to Chillikathi Baseball Diamond here as tonight's final
score is Chillicati nine, Uniota seven, and the Crosstown rivalry
game here for this year again, this has been a
rivalry that's really nice. I'd love to see something like

this continue on as East School are about, you know,
less than two miles away from each other, so really
good job here, and you know, looking at tonight's game,
a couple things stand out. Chillikathy really took off in
the first three innings, scored all nine runs at the
first three innings, scored four runs in the first inning,
five runs in the third inning, and then was held

at bay by great job by kit and Steele, the
freshman who came in and faced or retired all nine
batters that he faced here in this ballgame. So again,
when you look at the line's score, you have nine
runs for Chillicathy. They had those nine runs on really
looks like nine hits, and they only had five runners

left on base. For Unioto, they had seven runs. They
scored two in the second four and the third one
in the fourth. For their seven runs. They had seven
runs on ten hits, but they left nine runners on base.
The winning pitcher is going to be Sean Brown. He

did not walk up bout her and they had one
hits batsman, So he did a great job on the
mount for Chillicathy here tonight, and James Wrinkle came in

pretty good job. He gave up four runs in the
first inning, second inning, did not give up any He
was responsible for six runs here tonight. Judah Zikathus came
in and he went in an inning and he gave
up then three runs. So those two, you know, did
a decent job for Uniota, but Kit and Steele did

a great job coming in and shutting things down in
the final three innings for the U Niodo Sherman. So
tonight's game was a non league game. So U Niyoto
is now sixteen and seven overall. They next played tomorrow
night against I lost that had somewhere here. They play

tomorrow night, I'm sorry, Wednesday night against Lynchburg, play at home,
Thursday against Jackson at home, and then Friday against Amanda
Clear Creek at home Chillicothy. Tomorrow. They moved to nine

next week as the tournament starts. Chillicothy will be playing

on May twenty third at the VA Memorial Stadium against
