Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a presentation of iHeartRadio Sports. This is
high school Baseball on ninety four Country WKKJA. Now from
behind home plate, here's little postage.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hello and welcome. We're at the VA Memorial Stadium, home
of the Silicopy Paints for OHSA Tournament baseball action. We've
got the Unioda Sherman's taking on the logan ELM.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Braves.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
I'm Chris Postage. Join alongside by my father, Coach Loop Posts.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
It's coach.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
It's good to be at the ball diamond.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
It sure is. I mean, we've had a couple of
rainy days here, and the great facility here at the VA,
it can take a lot of rain because it's artificial
surface all around, no dirt, nothing like that. So we
had a little downpour there in the first game and
they had to delay it a little bit. But we
are back on schedule here and everything looks great out
(01:03):
there on the field and we're getting ready to play
some district semi final baseball. Coach you mentioned.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
This is game two of a four games slate here
at the VA. The winner of the first game was
Wheelersburg over Washington, a big sixth inning by them playing
six runs hoisted them on top of the Blue Lions.
The winner of this game between you and Yoda and
Logan Elm.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Will play Wheelersburg.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
That game will be Tuesday right.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Here at six thirty, so game two that night here
at the VA.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
But this matchup we got to this afternoon. It's un Yoda.
They come in with a record of eighteen to nine. Overall,
they were eleven and three. That's good enough for second
place in the Sciota Valley Conference. Their skipper, Tony Taylor,
was the district coach of the Year. But coach, they're
on a little bit of the slide. They've lost their
last two games and they've lost five of their last seven.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Going to turn it around today. Yeah, that's not where
you want to be this time of the year. But
I tell you what this Unioda team. You talk about
those losses, they have not lost the game by more
than three runs. So you look at many losses as
they have, they're really close games. They're pitching keeps them
in games. They have really good pitching and their bats
need to come around. Last year, this team Uniodo midut
(02:23):
it all the way to disc Or the state semi finals.
In baseball, they want to get on a run like that,
but I think their offense really needs to catch up
with their pitching. And if they can explode offensively, this
team can go a long way, because they got the
pitching for.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Their matchup today against the Logan ELM who comes in
with a record of thirteen and ten. They were four
and eight in the Mid State Buckeye Conference that was
fifth places.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Their head coach is Drew mcgloan.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Them on the other hand, they have won seven of
their last eight and kind of finding their stride here
late in the season what you want.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
And again, they're a team that is pretty deep pitch wise,
and they have some great athletes on this team. We
saw that on the football field, on the basketball court,
and now we're sitting on the baseball field. These players
are really good and when you find your stride as
a baseball team, that can take you a long way.
You want to get on a roll, and you know,
we've seen that at all different levels, whether it be
(03:19):
Little league, whether it be high school, whether it be
college or the pros. If you can get your team
on a roll, you can go a long way.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Look at the starting lineups first, for the visiting Logan
Elm Braids leading off. The pitcher Brady Neff, He's a senior.
The left fielder, Blake Summers is a sophomore batting third.
Calton Benington the shortstop as a senior. Camden Ebert the
catcher batting fourth, number five in the lineup, Zane Seemer
(03:48):
the first baseman, the senior, Blake swice Good the third baseman.
He's batting sixth and seventh, Carson Congrove the second baseman,
batting eighth, Lucas Gentry the d H and rounding out
the lineup, Lucas Biley the center fielder who's also a senior.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
So you look at this lineup and I think we
we had a missed thing on a congro of. It's
Carter Congrove. I just heard the PA announcer and we
had a variety of things written down for for mister Congreve.
We want to make sure we get that right. But yeah,
this is this is a lineup and a team that
is senior heavy. This lineup also at the top of
(04:33):
the order you can see is where they need to
really make their their mark. And the starting lineup for
Union to leading off, Jack Welts, a centerfielder batting second.
Elias Foltz the left fielder batting third, Jackson Zickafoos the
short stop. The pitcher, Blake Sanders batting fourth, Carter Elliott
(04:56):
the first baseman batting fifth, batting six, Randon White the
second baseman, David Long the third baseman, batting seventh, Caden
Speak men in the right field are batting eighth and
batting ninth. Will be the d H Gabe.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Do you wanna corn?
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, he's just a freshman. I saw him pitch against Chilicothy,
but at the plate that night, he did a pretty
good job. You know, I think he was one for two.
But yeah, this Uniodo line really looking for consistency. They
just haven't been able to get that base hit when
they really need to. They've been leaving a lot of
(05:35):
batters on the base pass and they need to really
do a better job at getting those runs across when
they need to. And we know the pitching. I mean,
you talk about Blake Sanders. You and I saw him
pitch against Zane Trace in that nine inning game and
he was virtually virtually, you know, untouchable Zane Trace until
(05:56):
they had that triple on the top of the ninth.
We had a hard time making good contact on him,
and he can really control his pitches. He does not
walk very many batters and he gets things going.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
You and you go to the.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Higher seed will be the home team on the scoreboard today.
This is their first tournament game. They got to buy
all the way to the district finals. In this one,
Logan Elm they played on Tuesday. It was eleven to
two victory over Minton County. Seemur was the winning pitcher
in that game. He went six innings to giving up
(06:32):
two earned runs five k's. This isn't the first time
these two teams have met this year. They met the
first game of the year back on March twenty eighth,
Logan Elm winning that game three to one. Bennington the
winning pitcher in that game. Logan Elm did see Blake Sanders,
who they'll see on the mound right now. Leading off
(06:53):
for Logan Elm, Brady Nef the pitcher stepping into the box.
First delivery from Sanders, that's a strike. Yeah, you're gonna
see a lot of that coming from Sanders.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
He throws a lot of strikes. So this Logan elmty
better be ready to swing.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
The bat and the breaking balls tip foul, it'll be
an O two count for Brady Nef. Blake Sanders a
very efficient pitcher that we saw earlier in the year.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
They went nine.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Innings and he still was not over his pitch count.
He really attacks hitters, looks to get on top of
the count early.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Okay, he's got a one point two eighty ra. He's
six and three on the year, fifty four strikeouts or
fourteen walks, So again, no free passes when he's out there,
you really better be ready to swing too. And we're
gonna get a college strike three there for Blake Sanders
out to be his first strikeout of the game. Yeah,
(07:53):
he's uh. You know that nine inning game, Chris we
had that was only like an hour and forty five
minutes of both of those pitch We're doing a great
job that night, and they can really get in the groove.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
First time they played, Sanders went five innings, gave up
three hits, three runs, none of those runs were earned runs,
and he only had three ks in that game. Now,
batting Blake Summers, the left fielder, he's gonna take the
first pitch for a strike.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Yeah, it's interesting these two teams played at the very
beginning of the year three to one win by logan home.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
One pitch that's gonna be inside ball, even a count
at one. Summers the left field are only a sophomore,
takes the one to one pitch for a strike. Two
(08:55):
to one pitch that's low, that'll be a ball.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Yeah, this un defense really good, especially up the middle
when you have Jackson Zikafous and Jack Welch in short
and center. They have made some tremendous plays this year.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Welch out and center shading to the right side of
the field to two pitch that's tip foul behind home plate.
Might have taken a at least one hop in play
and then went foul as the catcher Davis wasn't sure
where it was because it took a high hop, but
then it did end up going foul. So we'll do
the two two over again. As Summers comes back into
(09:32):
the box and Sanders back on the mound. Yeah, this
artificial surface here all around, as I said, no dirt,
so you're gonna get a lot of hops to two
pitch swung one foul back again. I think that one
might have hit off Summer's leg as he comes up
grimacing there and he's gonna get right back in the box.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yeah, they're just not being able to pick up the
ball real well right now, off Sanders and those wings
or just sort of stay or stay alive. Swings two
two once again, hit up the middle, coming over to
get it.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
That's White diving play. Is not going to be able
to have a play at first base, as he did
stop it from going to the outfield, but Summer is
going to leg out the infield single.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah. This is one of those things about this this field.
You've got to come and attack the ball. You cannot
wait back on that ball because it's going to get
to you and quickly and there'll be some hard bounces.
And right there he got to it and it bounced
away from him. He wasn't able to make that throw.
So Summer's on first.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Now, batting for Logan Elm number seventeen, Kelton Bennington. He's
a shortstop. It's got some power. Three home runs on
the year. He has committed to play college baseball at
let me give this a try. Caskia University. Okay, I'm
not sure to I've heard that one before, but must
(10:56):
be a good school. If they're getting the talent liner
to shortstop on the hot one play at second out
and turn away right out. Jackson Zikafus with a nifty
glove there at shortstop to turn the double play, and
that ends the inning for the Shermans. We'll take you
a wick break. You're listening to high school baseball here
on ninety four country WKKJ.
Speaker 5 (11:19):

Ninety four Country WKKJ, the Scioto Valley's home for today's country.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Welcome back here to the VA Memorial Stadium District final
action between you and Yodo and Logan Elm. At the
top of the first there was one hit in filled
single by Summers, but then Kelton be ten grounded into
a double play on a nice play at shortstop by
Jackson Zikafouse and no runs given up there in the
(12:49):
top half of the first.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yeah, good pitching, good defense. I can really keep runs
off the board there. And that's what we saw where
Jackson Zickafuse, that ball was scorched right at him and
he was able to snag it, get that throw off
quickly the second base and then on the first. So
if you're a pitcher, you love to see that.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
Top of the lineup for the Unioda Shermans. Jack Welbs
will leaded off Lias Saltz and Jackson Zicka.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Who's to come to the plate for the Shermans.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
They're gonna see Brady Neff. He's pitched thirty six innings
on the year, forty one strikeouts, nineteen walks with an
ERA of four point seven five.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
I think it's imperative for Unioda to get off, you know,
to a quick start. They need to get the offense
rolling here, and you know these are these three guys
at the top of the order can do it for them.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Wels was a lone bright spot on the last time
these two teams met. He was two for two of
their only run and a stolen base.
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Yeah, he's hitting three thirty three on the year.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
First pitch from that's going to hit the outside of
the strike zone, now it'll be a strike. Looking to Welch,
Sun's starting to come out here at the VA Stadium
and looks like the rains moved on, but there might
be a chance of something later this afternoon. Second pitch
fouled back by Wells quickly in a whole two.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Yeah, it's turned out to be a nice, nice little day,
not big I'll wind just a slight breeze.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Nef on the mound sets for the O two that's
gonna be just outside. There'll be ball one, one and
two to the junior Jack Welch un nyoda, and they're
all white uniforms this afternoon, a sharp look. It's just
a little hard to see the numbers there. I, me
and Coach were talking about earlier.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Yeah, outlined in purple one. It's just not a big outline.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
The one, the two to one pitch, he's going to
be found out of play. So we'll do that again.
Two strikes, one ball here on Jack Welch. Nef gets
the call from his catcher Ebert sets now fires the
home just outside. That'll be another ball two and two
(15:12):
of the count even up on Jack.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Welch and logan them with their gray pants with a
red stripe down it and the gray shirts, gray and
black hats. Nice sharp look for them.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
The two to two fouled off again thereby Welch good
at bat here after he got into the old two hole.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
That's what's your leadoff guy. You want to see him,
you know, make them throw a lot of pitches here
so the dougout can see those pitches coming in.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Nef set for the two to two once again, that's
going to be high. That'll be ball three. Welch battles
back from an O two count. Now all the count's fully.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
That was a high and tight pitch there. He thought
about him for a second, but he was able to
hold on.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Count is full to Welch. Nef sets now delivers to
the plate curveball tip foul once again. A lot of
pitches so far, and just the first bat of the
game for the Shermans.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
I think it's a pitch number eight in this at bat.
We'll get set again for a full count three to two.
Neth gets the sign now delivers inside swinging strike three. Yeah,
that definitely was a ball, but you know, he just
(16:37):
he almost was swinging to protect himself there.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
It's a good at bat from Welch now batting for
the Sherman's Elias As Salts, the left field or young sophomore.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Interesting that nep just goes from this stretch. He doesn't
have to wind up out there on the mound, just
automatically from the stretch.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
First pitch the Salts breaking ball catches the inside part
of the zone now to be strike.
Speaker 3 (17:05):
One defense playing straight away out there. You got Summers,
Biley and Davy in the outfield for Logan, Ome and Swice, Good, Bennington,
Congrove and Seemer from third across the.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
First, Nef delivers another off speed. That one's fouled out
of bounds, out of play there by Salts, so he's
quickly in the whole two and that leave that foul
ball ricocheted back into place, and now we're gonna have
to get that out of play again. We get Nef
(17:39):
a new ball to throw with O two count on
Aiden Saltz. Nef gets the signed come set now delivers home,
and that's gonna be just outside. That'll be the first
ball to Salts.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Believe we're around thirteen pitchers already in this inning for Nef, and.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Nef delivers again. That one's just inside on Salts. So
now he'll battle back from O two and he's got
to count even at two one out here in the
bottom of the first inning, Brady Neugh sets now delivers home.
That ball is going to be tipped straight backwards. A
(18:36):
couple good at baths so far from Unyoda, making Neft
deliver a lot of pitches and the two to two
pitch swung On strike three, balls in the dirt while
a play at first base, and Ebert delivers the second
(18:57):
out of the inning for the Braves.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Two bats and two strikeouts for mister Neff out there.
I believe you said that he has forty one strikeouts
on the year. Two here to start the.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Game, now betting for you and Yodo a short stop
Jackson Zikafoos. Zickafus was a first team All SVC member
this year, as well as a first team All District member.
First pitch of zickafoose breaking ball catches the outside of
the zone. That'll be strike one.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Is betting three eleven on the year twenty five hits,
twenty five or twenty eight hits team leader in hits.
Second pitch to Zickafou swung on, hit up the middle,
gathered there by Bennington. He delivers the first and that'll
be the final out of the inning. No runs, one hit,
(19:55):
and no heirs that inning. The hit came from Logan Elm.
We'll take a quick raak.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
You're listening to high school baseball here on ninety four

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Welcome back to the VA Memorial Stadium District Final acts
between you and Yodo and Logan Elm. After the first inning,
we're scoreless here. As as Logan Elm comes to the
plate in the second inning, it'll be the four fives
and six hitters Ebert Seemer and Swis Chris.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
A lot of action today around the area and the
area teams. After this game, Huntington will start their postseason
run their number one seed in Division six. They're gonna
take them on. Sims Valley. Southeastern also will play the
last game here tonight. Southeastern will be taking on Manchester,
(21:21):
So those two SVC baseball teams will be playing here
today Uniodo softball played earlier today. Uniodo fell to try
Valley in the district finals today eleven to five. So
good season for Uniodo district runner ups for softball, and
(21:42):
hopefully the boys can come away with the victory here
today at the VA. Leading off of the Braves, Camden
Ebert to seniories, committed to play baseball at Wittenberg next spring.
First pitch lined in the right field, that's gonna find
the grass out there, speaking relays it in. That'll be
(22:03):
a base hit for Ebery sort of golfed that out
there to the right field. That was a low pitch
outside and he just golfed it right into the opening there.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Now batting for the Braves, the first baseman Zane Seamer,
he's a senior, he's committed to play baseball at Ryo
Grand next spring. Sanders from the stretch delivers the balls
tip foul there by Seamer no balls one strike. Top
(22:43):
half of the second inning. Sanders checks over Ebert at
first now delivers to the plate. That's going to be
a ball outside. Be a one to one count to Seemer.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Both of these coaches having stats readily available for us
here today, so we appreciate them helping us out a
little bit and getting us that information.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Sanders delivers balls pop foul. Chance to make a play
on it is Elliott, but he lost it up there
and that's going to bounce behind him, so it'll.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Be a foul ball. I did a great job. He
got over to defence really early and got his handed
on the fence, but then he sort of overran it.
So he stays alive. Here's Zane Seemer stays alive. Seemer
betting four twenty four on the year. I'm sorry, three
sixty four on the year. One balls, who strikes to Seemer.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Sanders checks over to Ebert at first checks again. Now
delivers to the play off speed pitch. That's going to
be strike three.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Yeah, he took a little off of that one and
had him way out in front.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
Now coming to the plate for the Braves, Blake swice Good,
a third baseman, swiss Good as a junior.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Swice Good batting three point thirty eight on the year.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Sanders set to deliver, that's going to be a ball
just outside. One ball, No strikes to swice Good.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Eber can a big secondary lead over there in first
base and the catcher thought about throwing down that time,
but didn't.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Elliott holds Ebert at first. Sanders checks now fires over
to first. Ebert able to get him back to the
bank safely.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
As a team, Loganolm has fifty four steels on the year.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
One ball knows strikes two swice good. Sanders delivers that
ball was hit foul off to the right side.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
That'll go out of play. Yeah, runner was off on
that one. Had a little hit and run going on there,
and now he's got to make his way all the
way back to first base.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
One ball one strike one out here in the top
half of the second inning, Logan.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
EM's a good hitting team, batting over three hundred on
the year, as it.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Tenders delivers, and that's going to be just outside once again.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Go to be ball two logan Elm. Dug got down
the first base line and Unioto down the third base line.
Here at the.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
BA Sanders checks on. Ebert now delivers ball. Hit sharply
out to left field, and that's gonna tail just foul.
Sweis good. Got a lot of that one. It hit
off the railing out there and left field, but it
was just a few feet over the foul line. They
hit off the railing of the party deck out there,
(26:12):
about five or ten feet foul. He really got a
lot of that one. That'll be the second strike to Swice. Good.
Two balls, two strikes. One out here in the top
of the second, Ebert makes his way back to first base.
Sanders out of the stretch, checks over on. Ebert checks again.
(26:33):
Now delivers off speed pitch poked in the right field.
That's gonna be a base hit. Speaking comes up and
gets it and holds Ebert to second base. Good piece
of two strike hitting there by. Swice good.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Yep, he hit it where he pitched it, just took
it to the opposite way after, you know, turning on
that one down the third baseline being foul. But he
just took this one where it was pitched and knocked
it right in the right field.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Now batting for the Braves, Carter Congrove, the second baseman,
he's a junior. Sanders out of the stretch, Ebert on first,
Swiss good, Sorry, Ebert on second, Swice could on first.
That pitch is going to be found straight back into
the netting. Owt'll be strike one.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
To Congo Congove, batting two on the year. As he
comes in here.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Runners on first and second, no balls. One strike to congrove.
Sanders delivers off speed pitch is going to be found
off to the right side, and that's going to go
over the fence out of play quickly. In the whole
two is congrove.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
So they got a little one out base runner at second.
So if you're logan Elm, you're looking to maybe get
a score here in the top of the Seconders out
of the stretch, delivers.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
That's gonna be ball just outside.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Yeah, he's been right on some of these corners, just
hadn't got the call early on.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
That'll be the first ball to congero one ball, two strikes,
one out here in the top of the second, runners
on second and first, Sanders out of the stretch. Zickafuse
holding Ebert at second. Sanders delivers off speed pitch. They're
gonna say he swung. That'll be strike three.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
That was a big strike out there for Sanders.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
Now batting for Logan Ell the designated hitter number eleven,
Lucas Gentry. He's a sophomore. Two on two outs here
in the top of the second, Sanders out of the
stretch as Gentry steps in, White holds Ebert first pitch,
(28:59):
swinging out straight back off the mask of Davis. I
think it also ricocheted off of the Davis. I staggered
just a little bit there as he stood up. And
Coach Taylor is going to come out here and make
sure the young man's okay. And great job by the
umpire walking the ball all the way out to the
(29:20):
picture to give him some time to recoup his thoughts there,
because that ball comes back there, that rattles those things
up there. And I don't have much between my ears,
but a young man like that probably has a lot
more than I do. All right, looks like Davis is
(29:40):
sitting ready to go. Gentry's gonna step back into the box.
Go one count to Gentry, two outs. Two on Here
in the top of the second, Sanders out of the stretch,
delivers home, swinging strike two.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
A nice pitch there, just challenged him and he was
able to get it right by him.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
No ball, no balls, and two strikes the designated inner
Gentry Eber on seconds getting held on by White. Now
runners go ball in the dirt, and Ebert's gonna steal third.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
Good job of reading that by Ebert. I think he
was going regardless, but when that ball got away, he
was able to get the third rather easily. Now you
ninety feet away from the with the first run of
the game.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
First ball to Gentry, one ball, two strikes, two outs,
two on. Here in the top of the second, Ebert
on third, congrove on first, Sorry, Swice could on first,
balls dribbled right back to the pitcher. Sanders runs it
over to first, hands it to Elliott, and that's going
to end the inning. Two runners left on for the Braves.
We're still scoreless headed to the bottom of the second.
(30:54):
You're listening to high school baseball here on ninety four
Country WKKJ.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Got this, Read this. In the moments that truly matter,
what do we do?
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Rise to the occasion, Ohio Health.
Speaker 10 (31:28):
It's time ninety four Country w KKJ.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Welcome back here to the VA Memorial Stadium District final
action between the Unio THEO Sherman's and Logan Elm Braids.
We're scoreless through one and a half here Logan Elms
stranded two runners there in the top of the second
after hits by Ebert and twice good but good bounce
(31:54):
back by Sanders to get them out of the inning.
Coming up for you. Yoda will have Sanders, sorry, yes
wif Sanders Elliott Ann White the four, five and six hitters.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Other games around the area softball wise, Southeastern is playing
Megs in a district final down at Ou right now
and Megs Leagues leads Southeastern five two in the top
of the third and nice article done by Sosa there
on coach for Southeastern Chris Gaggs, who underwent some surgery
(32:27):
and had part of his leg amputated, and uh, you know,
wish nothing of the but the best for Chris as
we both know him and I know the girls were
happy to have him back, and you know, it's just
good to see that everything's going to be okay for him,
and you know, thoughts and prayers with the with Chris
(32:48):
Gags and his family. Adina also is going to be
playing again a third time this year. They're going to
be playing Piked in. Both those games are really close.
One a high scoring game, the other one a very
low scoring game. So who knows what they're going to
get down there today at Ou. But Adina versus Piked
In we'll start right after that Southeastern Megs game down
at Ou today, So those are district finals in softball.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Sanders stepping in to start the bottom of the second
for you and Yoda. Nef delivers. That ball's in the
dirt and to be a ball to Sanders. No hits
this far for n.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Yodo Sanders betting two eighty four on the year.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Nef delivers. That's going to be a strike up in
the zone. Even's count at one to Sanders. Sanders a
first team All District and SVC selection as well with
his teammates Zikafous. That's going to be a ball outside.
Two balls, won strike to Sanders. So we start the
(33:56):
bottom of the second. Nef working out of the stretch here,
no runners on sets and fires breaking ball they're going
to appeal to first, say he didn't go. That'll be
three balls, one strike on the pitcher, Blake Sanders and
(34:19):
you're looking to get their first base runner of this
afternoon's contest. Yeah, first and hef strike out the first
two batters and then a ground out. Nef delivers, and
that's gonna be a strike on the inside part of
the plate. Makes the count full to Sanders.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Only three up and three down. But he threw a
lot of pitches in that first and he's already full
count here to the first batter in the second.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
F sets now delivers. That's gonna be a ball inside,
and that'll be our first walk in the game. It's
going to be to the pitcher, Blake Sanders, as he'll
take first base. Now stepping in for Unio to the
first BA. He's been Carter Elliott, the young freshman.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Yeah, Elliott three oh two on the year. You know,
nice season for him as a freshman stepping in, and
he's also done a pretty good job of doing some
pitching for them as well.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Sanders gets his lead at first. Nef checks on him,
now sets delivers home. That's gonna be a strike called
on the inside of the plate. A ball's one strike
to Elliott. No out's here top the second runner on
(35:39):
first for you, nioda bottom of the second, sorry, Nef delivers,
and that's gonna be a strike on the outside part.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Of the plate.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Quickly in the whole two Carter Elliott.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
Yeah, Neph really likes the corners. He's been going inside
and outside and hitting those corners hard.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Net checks on Sanders now delivers. That ball is going
to be poked out of play by Elliott. Stays alive here,
no balls, two strikes, no outs here at bottom of
the second runner on first base for the Shermans, nep
gets the signals checks over. The first now sets in
(36:22):
fires that ball did that hit Elliott?
Speaker 3 (36:25):
I don't think it did, because the ball's still in play.
Runner goes a second. No time was called.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
The ball went inside on Elliott and it made it
all the way to the back stop. Blake Sanders gonna
find his way on second base.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
That down the ball wild pitch there.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
I thought that might cut the jersey of Elliott.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
There no instant replay here in high school.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
So one ball, two strikes to Elliott. Another pitch in
the dirt by Nef evens the count. Two balls, two strikes,
one runner on second base.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Well, I tell you he likes to get ahead of
him that O two to start, but then he lets
him right bang in it.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
So I'm picking through the clouds here now at the
VA Memorial Stadium. Drastic difference from what we showed up here,
And it was a parential downpour of that delayed the
first contest. Neft sets and delivers the two two all
hit on up to the right side in the air
under it is the second basement congrove to put out Elliott.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
Elliott tried to get time there, but the umpire did
not give it to him, so he had to stay
in there and make a swing.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
I'll be the first out of the inning for the Shermans.
Now stepping to the plate, will be the second basement
Brandon White, sophomore.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
This is where Uniota's really had their troubles getting scoring.
Got a guy on, got him over to second. Nobody
out and unable to get moved. So here we are
with one out and he's still out there at second
basin scoring position.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Nef delivers, and that's gonna be a breaking ball on
the inside of the plate. That'll be strike one to White.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
White scot is bet in three nineteen on the air,
two triples. He can get it in the gap here,
he can leg one out around there.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Nef delivers the one, and that's gonna be found back
and once again it's two to a Sherman.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
Batter.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
One out in the inning, Blake Sanders standing on second base.
It'd be the go ahead run for the Shermans. We're
scoreless so far. Nef checks on Sanders guarded by Bennington.
Now Nef delivers to the plate breaking ball chopped up
the left side. That's gonna go foul. Nice play there
(38:55):
by coach Tony Taylor.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
Look at that nice snag and throw it right back
to the pitcher.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Had some flashbacks there for longtime skipper for the Unioda Shermans.
We'll do the two once again. Ne F to White
and that ball is going to be in the dirt.
That'll be the first ball.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
Nice child there by the catcher Eber keeping that right
in front of him, not allowing the runner to move ahead.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
One ball, two strikes, one out, White out the plate.
Nef delivers and that's going to be a swinging strike. Three.
Nef reared back on that one and just blew it
by All.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
Yeah, that's three strikeouts here on the game for Nef.
And now you're down. You had to run her out
at second base with nobody out, not able to move
them around. Still out there with now two outs, and
David Long comes to the played. He's batting two thirty
seven on the year for this senior and it's be
a great time to get a base hit to help
(40:09):
your team out.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
Honorable Mentioned All League for David Long this year. Special
Mentioned All District Nef delivers, there'll be a swinging strike.
One ball gets by Ebert and Sanders is gonna take second.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
Takes third there. Sanders, he thought maybe that was a
foul tip the way he swung at it and the
ball popped after he swung, But home play umpire said no,
that was just a drop ball. There by the catcher
go ahead.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Run just ninety feet away for the Shermans. Senior David
Long had the plate. Nef delivers. That's going to be
a strike two now on David Long, I didn't.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Write it down, but Chris, that's got to be O
two on virtually every batter here he's faced so far.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
Nef gets the sign from Ebert. Ebert setting up high
in the zone. Nef delivers and close call is gonna
be caught. A ball there yet a little high and
outside there. David Long gave that a good hard look.
Sanders over at third, not being held on byce Wis
(41:25):
Goood gets a decent sized lead. Nef staring right at him,
now delivers to the plate and that breaking ball cut
just outside of the zone. Good take there by. David
Long Even's account at two two balls, two strikes, two outs.
Runner on third bottom of the second, Nef delivers to
(41:51):
the plate, swinging ball chopped up the middle. That's gonna
go down for a base hitt and Sanders is going
to come into score nice the two out hitting there
by David Long and mean you and Yoda Sermons are
on top here in the second inning.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
Just what they needed out of there's senior third baseman
to make something happen for him. And tell you what,
Sanders away. He can pitch. One run is all we're
gonna need in many cases. So that was a big
run there for un Yoda to not give that up.
Getting the guy on second with nobody out, they got
to get that guy in and Long was able to
(42:26):
get that done.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Now stepping in for n Yodo, the right fielder, Keaton's
speakman takes that first pitch for a strike on the
outside part of the plate.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
Caden three or four on the year.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
Yeah checks over to first now delivers well, hits straight
in the air, that'll be in pop up to the infield,
no kil casing, and the two Logan el braves run
into each other and the ball hits the ground.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
Wisely, David Long kept running. He was able to get
all the way to third base. That was a third
basement that came all the way over there to try
to make that catch, and he and the was that
the second basement that was like at the first basement.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
Steamer and Swice could with the miscommunication coming from far
away for both of them, and they met there just
behind the pitcher's mound, but nobody called each other off.
So the ball hits the ground. Speakman's on first, David
Long's on third. Two outs here in at the bottom
(43:34):
of the second, Tijuana Corn stepped into the plate for Uniota.
First pitch is going to be a strike on the
outside part of the plate.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
Young freshman year saw him pitch against Chilliicathy and did
a good job holding it on at the plate as well.
But that was an air by Logan Elman and able
to run it get all the way to third here.
So see if they can add on another run a
one pitch inside, that'll be a ball one one's account.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Two outs here in the bottom of the second, one
run scored so far by the Shermans. Mat check nef
checks the runners. Now delivers another popfly in the infield.
This one's called by Congrove. It's second. He gets under
(44:26):
and he puts out Juana Corn and that'll in the
second inning, you you would be able to get one
run across the plate and they take the lead here
in the district finals. You're listening to high school baseball
here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
Welcome back here to the VA Memorial Stadium. We got
district final action here between un Yodo and Logan Elm
District semifo. I'm sorry, District semifinals, I keep saying that wrong.
Speaker 3 (45:29):
That's all right, Unyoda, and we'll get.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
One run there in the bottom of the second inning.
They take the lead on just one hit game from
David Long, a timely two out hit there with two
strikes to play Blake Sanders. Sanders reached on the base
on balls and got over to third on the pass balls.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
Yeah, and again that was big for Uni Yodo because
they have not done a good job of getting that
runner in for most of the year, but able to
get him in here today. That looking at you said
district finals. The district final would be on Tuesday against Wheelersburg.
So the winner of this game will play Tuesday in
(46:13):
the district final here from the VA on Tuesday, and
that would be our next broadcast actually for w KKJACK.
Speaker 2 (46:25):
Leading off the top half of the thirty for Logan
Ell would be the center fielder Lucas Biley. Biley takes
the first pitch for a strike. Al Sanders delivers again
that pitch is going to be on the outside part
of No, it's going to be outside of the plate.
That'll be ball one.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
That looked pretty good to me. But talk about other broadcasts.
We'll definitely be back on the air on Wednesday for
Zane TRACE's district semi.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
And swinging strike two there from Biley. One ball to
strikes to the senior. Sanders now delivers balls foul straight
back out of play and I'll go over the grandstand
here and into the parking lot. Hopefully nobody's parked over there.
(47:18):
Didn't sound like it.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
Yeah, that's always the thing here at the VA. You
got to make sure you're parking in the right spot
because you don't want to go out there and see
a ball.
Speaker 2 (47:28):
This ball chipped over the second basement and that's going
to fall for a hit. Nice two strike hitting there
from Lucas Biley.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
Say what, they've had four hits on the night, and
three of them have been that exact hit, a little
loop into the right field there as they're just sort
of waiting on the pitch and taking it that outside
pitch right the right field. So they've done a good
job of scouting Sanders the pitcher, and just waiting for
that pitch and taking it right where it is pitched.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
Turning over now for the Braves, Brady Nef back to
the plate, squares to bunt. Pitch is going to be
outside the zone. As Nef pulled back, that'll be ball one. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
I think both these coaches know that this game is
going to be tight and they're going to be playing
for just you know, one or two runs here. So
Sanders checks the first.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
Now Nef bunts it perfectly down the first base line.
It's just rolling and Elliott picks it up.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
That's a fair ball.
Speaker 2 (48:29):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (48:30):
I thought that baby was gonna go foul if he
would have let it, But he got a little over
anxious and picked it up after the runner went by him.
I think there, if you pick it up and tag
the runner right as he comes by you, that's that's
the play. But that was not a good choice there
by the first baseman.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Very good bunt there by. Nef got it right down
the line. It went down that line probably a good
ten to twenty feet, and Elliott picked it up right
on the line. Now we got runners at second and
first for the Braves, no outs. Number two hole hitter
Blake Summers back to the plate. He squared a bunt,
(49:10):
and that's gonna be a ball on the inside of
the plate as he pulls it back.
Speaker 3 (49:14):
Yeah, that's gonna go down as a base hit. But
that goes down as a mental air there for you
and Yodo. Sanders delivers bunt.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
One attempt by Summers is gonna be a called strike.
As the third the umpire down the third baseline said
he offered to it.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
Yeah, that game on Wednesday for Zane Trace. They face
Ironton here at VA Stadium at six point thirty in
the district Semis.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Summers looking to get the bunt down. The third baseline
is gonna go foul. One ball, two strikes on Summers,
no outs here and the top of the third highly
standing on second base. Brady nef on first, let's see
(50:08):
if the Summers just swinging away here, they're still gonna
try to get that bunt down. Corners retreat not expecting
a bun. Sanders shakes off the first sign. Now he's
gonna step off the plate, off the mound, gather himself.
(50:32):
Summer steps back in. Now Sanders checks on second delivers
but right back to Sanders and Sanders only plays.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
There's nobody at first.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
This communication on who was covering the bag. Sanders picked
it up. Nobody was standing there. And now the bases
are loaded for the Braves. Yeah, with two bunts. They
load the bases here and again going to go down
as a hit. Another mental air on a bunt by Uniodo.
The second baseman came over to cover and the first
(51:06):
basements came in like he was going to cover or
going to field the but came back quickly and there
were two guys there and Sanders smartly, I think, held
onto the ball and not throwing it over there. Maybe
throw it away and get two runs in. Coach Taylor
is gonna call time and bring in his infield. Just
this calm him down. Here a couple of flustering plays.
(51:29):
He's just gonna calm him down for Logan elm. Bases loaded,
no outs, and you've got the two guys come to
the plate. That that's who you want. You've got Calton
Bennington and Camden Eber.
Speaker 3 (51:41):
And then again this is one of those things where okay,
what are we gonna do. We're gonna, you know, if
we have a chance for a double player, we're going that,
or we're gonna play the infield in and take away
the run at home plate. We'll see how they line
up here and tell us how they're gonna handle it.
But they have loaded the base with the a bloop
single over the second baseman and two bunts that never
(52:05):
made it to the dirt in the infield, uh, and
nobody out. So it looks like you got the corners
playing in and up the middles playing double play.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
Depth Bennington's stepping in for the Braves. Sanders out of
the stretch, delivers thefty swinging there by Calton Bennington. How'll
be strike one?
Speaker 3 (52:29):
You remember Bennington hit a scorcher to Zickafus at shortstop
and led to a double play in the first innings,
So Uniota would take that here.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
Oh one to Bennington swinging hit into the gap, and
that's gonna go past. No Zickafus is gonna sorry, watch is.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Gonna get it.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Two run score and that'll be a two run double
for Calton Bennington.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
Great job there for Bennington, again, just going with the pitch.
They're not trying to pull it. They're just going with
where the pitch is. And he took it right there
into the gap, and as you said, Welch did a
great job of getting over there and cutting that off,
but still led to a double and two runs scoring.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
Loganill now on top two to one. Here in the
top of the third inning, still no outs, runners on
second and third, Camdn Ebert step into the plate. First
pitch to Ebert swing strike one. Now up to.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
Seven hits are the Braves, and again two of those
hits were just mental errors. By Unyodo that allowed those
runs to score. There, they're gonna go down and z
earn runs. But again, in my mind, those are mental
errors that cost Junioto.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
One to Ebert in the dirt, one ball, one strike,
no outs, two runs already across for the Braves. Here
in the top half of the third, runners on second
and third, Sanders delivers, that's gonna be a called strike
on the outside of the part of the plate.
Speaker 3 (54:20):
Ebert had a base hit in the second inning. Ebert's
are leading hitter on the year four oh nine.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
Sanders delivers, swinging foul off to the right side. That's
gonna make its way out of play. One ball, two
strikes to Ebert, no outs. Here in the top of
the third, runners on second and third for the Braves.
(54:56):
Sanders sets checks on the runners. Now delivers and that
it's gonna be a call strike three on the bottom
half of the zone. Nice pitch there, big strikeout for Sanders.
Now coming to the plate, Zeene Seemer the first basement.
Speaker 3 (55:16):
Yeah, runners at second and third there with no outs,
you get finally get one out there, and let's be
big for Uniota if they were able to keep these
runners from scorning.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
Sanders delivers breaking ball hit the Zickapoos Zickafoos. His only
play is at first base and they got the out,
but another run scores for the Braves.
Speaker 3 (55:35):
Yeah, you could just see on Zikafooz's face there he
wanted to go home, but made the right play to
another runner. Scores. That's three to one. Now for Logan.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
Open now batting for the Braves. The third basement bliefs
twice good Benning ten to third base. Sanders, out of
the stretch delivers and that ball was dropped there by
(56:08):
the catcher looked like be low in the zone. So
that'll be ball one. Three to one. The Braves lead
two outs. Here in the top of the third, Sanders
sets now delivers breaking ball hit. The Zikafooza shortstop makes
the play over the first and that's gonna end the inning.
(56:32):
Three runs come across the plate for the Braves and
that half. Hey, Lee, the Shermans three to one. You're
listening to the high school baseball Here on ninety four
Country w KKJ.
Speaker 5 (56:42):
iHeartRadio goes one on one with Er Church to discuss
how he intentionally cuts songs to sound live.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
We did that, We cut that that way. I mean,
we're in a room staring at each other. There's a
lot of people that go in and you know that
outro on the Outsiders, it's a minute long and it's
nuts musically, it's three different movements.
Speaker 3 (56:57):
But we didn't plan that.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
You know.
Speaker 4 (56:59):
We got in there, started playing and somebody said, I
got an idea here, this could work here, and we
just kept playing and kept playing, and then we listened
back to it, and we went.
Speaker 9 (57:07):
Keep listening to iHeartRadio for more Eric Church and all
your favorite artists.
Speaker 10 (57:12):
The Scioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 2 (57:19):
Welcome back to the Vama Memorial Stadium District semi final
action between Logan Elm and Yun Yodo. Loganilm able to
play free runs there in the top of the third inning,
they take the lead over the Shermans three to one.
A couple of mental mistakes by the Unioda Sherman's costum
Big Bennington came up big with a two run double
(57:44):
and Steamer grounded into a fielder's choice that resulted in Iran.
Speaker 3 (57:51):
So again around the area. Southeastern Now Trails make six
to two as they go to the top of the
fifth down there at Oh you in that softball district final,
and as I said earlier, Unyodo Softball lost to Try
Valley in their district final. Today, I believe that was
over at Logan High School and that ends season four
(58:15):
unioda again great year, district runner up for the year,
and hopefully the Uni Yoda boys here can get to
answer quickly what Logan elm did there in the top
of the.
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Third lineup's going to turn over for the Sherman's Jack
Welch leading them off here in the bottom of the
third inning, death comes set. Now he fires, It's just
going to be in the dirt. That'll be ball one.
He really tried to break that one and bounced it
up there. Good first at bat for Welch, worked a
(58:53):
ten pitch at bat, ended up striking out, really made
ne f work for it. The one o pitch is
in the dirt once again. That one goes all the
way to the backstop. Two oh, now to Jack Welch.
Looks like taking a little uneasy while lap around the mound.
(59:15):
Now he steps back up to the mound delivering the
two to oh too Welch, and that's going to be
a strike on the outside part of his own two
to one to lead off man. In the bottom of
the third inning, the center fielder Jack Welch. Nef delivers again.
(59:42):
No one bounced across the plate once again. Now three balls,
one strike to Welch. Welch here, you want to get
on base. You want to be that base running for
your team. And he's got some speed as well. Nef
takes the sign, now sets in fires, and that's gonna
(01:00:05):
be a striking on the bottom inside corner. Welch once
again with a full count, three balls, two strikes, No
out's here. In the top of the third inning, Nef
gets the sign, now fires, and that's going to be
(01:00:25):
dribbled to the right side. Second baseman Congrove makes the
play to put out Jack Welch and nice four to.
Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
Three put out there for the first out of the
third inning.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Now batting for the Shermans, Elias assaults the left field.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Orf's got a good job there. They were able to
scratch over a run in that last inning. But he's
thrown a lot of pitches here up to now.
Speaker 2 (01:01:02):
Deaf out of the stretch. First Pit's gonna be a
strike on the outside part of the play. Oh one
count the salts. Yeah, ready's now delivers. Oh pulled down
the left side over to make a play on it
(01:01:25):
as a left fielder Summers and he puts out Salts.
Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
He gave that one a ride. But Summers are ranting
that one down.
Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
Now. Batting for the Shermans three hole hitter Jackson Zickapoos
two outs here in the top of the sorry bottom
of the third zicka Fous grounded out the short stop
there in the first inning, nef delivers breaking ball is
(01:02:07):
going to be outside of the zone. That'll be ball one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
Guys, saw somewhere queeris that Zickapoos, who's had an outstanding
career Uniodo in all sports. Broke the record for most
all time stolen bases for Uniodo. I think he's up
to sixty one. Yes, broke that record this past Friday
in a game against Amanda. Sixty one career stolen Blaze
(01:02:33):
is a good athlete, especially when he gets on the
base pass.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
Another ball on Zickafoo's three to zero count. It's a
guy they want to get on first three to zero
pitch to Zickafoos net fires and that's going to be
a strike, Zeca Fru's taken all the way there, nef
(01:03:13):
ready for the three one. The livers swung on foul
straight back. Ebert's tracking it behind the plate and makes the.
Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Playoff out for the put out. Nice job there by
the catcher of finding that ball and getting over there
to a spot where you can get it, and then
he had to make it a little sliding catch one, two, three,
you go.
Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
The Sherman's in the bottom of the third, Ogan Helm
on top three to one. As we go to the fourth,
you're listening to high school baseball here on ninety four
Country wkkj oh, hey.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Welcome back here to the VA Memorial Stadium, District semi
final action between you and Yodo and Logan Elm. As
we go to the fourth inning, the Logan Elm Braves
are on the top from a score of three two one.
Coming up here and the top of the fourth for
Logan Elm will be the seven eight to nine hitters
(01:04:43):
congr Gentry and Biley. A little small ball from the
Braves in that last inning helped them to get three
to one, three runs and get the lead from the Shermans.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
Yeah, and again it's it's you know the case again
for the Shermans. They got to get some runners on base,
and they have to get those runners in And it's
starting to really get a lot of sunshine out of
here right now. Nice nice day and nice weekend hopefully
rest of the weekend. Memorial Day weekend here and fitting
(01:05:19):
we're at the VA honoring those service members who gave
it all for us throughout the years. So happy Memorial
Day and I hope everyone enjoys that weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
Stepping into the box for the Braves the lead off
the fourth inning, number twenty Carter congrove the second basement.
First pitch is going to be a called strike from Sanders.
P one swung on hit to the right side down
(01:05:56):
the line, and that's going to go just foul.
Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
Yea again on the team has done a great job
of just taking the pitch and going with it. A
lot of swings to the right field side, and you know,
it's one of those deals where you know, you scout
a team, you scout a pitcher, and they have definitely
done a good job of that here tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
O two to Congo Sanders fire if that's going to
be a ball high in the zone, one ball, two strikes,
no outs here in the top of the fourth inning
Andres delivered. This one's popped up. Elliott coming over to
(01:06:44):
get it and found territory and he's going to put
out Congo for the first down of the inning.
Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
Again, he almost over in that one as he was
coming in here to make that play. But good job
and securing that catch.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Now coming to the plate for the Braves, designated hitter
Lucas Gentry.
Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Gentry grounded right back to the pitcher in the second any.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
First pitts, Gentry is gonna be outside for a ball,
one ball, no strikes one out yere in the top
of the forest. The Braves on top of the Shermans
by the score of three to one. Sanders sets that
curveball is gonna nail Gentry, and he took it all
the way. Wasn't moving out of the way of that one,
(01:07:40):
and he's gonna take a trip down to first base.
Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
Yeah, that's gotta be one of those things where you
see it coming, you're like, I might as well just
stay right here. But that's a base runner, that's what
you want.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Now. Batting for the Braves, Lucas Miley, the center field
or started off last inning by getting on base and
came around to score.
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
See if they don't try to bun him a second
and they squared for the bun again. Attempt was.
Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
No good, So it'll be strike one.
Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
That brings in long from third base.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Sanders checks on Gentry at first now delivers scaring the
bunt down the first base line. Sanders over to make
the play, flips it the first for the out. The
Gentry is going to move on to second base.
Speaker 3 (01:08:37):
Yeah, he did his job getting that runner from first
to second, getting him in the scoring position for the
top of the lineup.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Brady Enough at the plate. Now two outs here top
of the fourth runner on second, and that's Lucas Gentry f.
Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
One for two. Today's truckout in the first, had a
bunt hit in the third, and that one's hit on
a rope out to center field.
Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
Welch gets under it makes the final out of the inning.
The runner made it to scoring position, but no harm
done by the Braves Worth through four and a half innings.
Now here at the VA Memorial Stadium, and the Braves
are on top of the Shermans three to one. You're
listening to high school baseball here on ninety four country WKKJA.
Speaker 5 (01:09:29):
Jill, why didn't you tell the class what you did
this weekend?
Speaker 14 (01:09:32):
Well, my dad and I went in search with some
magical middles and found a zillion of them in the
stream from our lookout rock. Then my sister and I
escaped from an evil slog king. I went back to
my super twig fort for safety. Then we tell stories.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Still, it got dark.
Speaker 14 (01:09:44):
And the Big Dipper let us all.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
The way home. Where were you, Jill?
Speaker 14 (01:09:48):
We went to the forest. It's not that far away.
Speaker 13 (01:09:51):
Ask your parents to take you and your friends to
the Forest this week.
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
It's closer than you think.
Speaker 15 (01:09:54):
Check out Discover the Forest dot org. Brought to you

Speaker 10 (01:09:58):
ACCUMAR ninety four, the Scioto Valley's home for today's country.
Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
Welcome back to the beautiful home of the Chillicothee Paints.
Their season just getting underway here this week, I believe.
Speaker 3 (01:10:15):
I think they report here tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
For time Count Prospect League champions looking to start the
twenty twenty six campaign.
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
You had all the players report tomorrow and they meet
and for the first time, and then they had out
on Monday, I believe for their game on Tuesday. I
believe so.
Speaker 2 (01:10:34):
Say all the players report that aren't still playing, so
it's kind of an early start for some of the players.
Is most conference tournaments are just wrapping up and those
that are making it into the big dance hold stay
with their respective clubs.
Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
Yeah, if you haven't come out to a Paints game,
it's a phenomenal thing. I suggest you come out at
least once here this summer and check out a Pains game.
And they do it great job here of putting on
different festivities and it's just a great atmosphere to come
out and watch a baseball game and Prospect League. A
lot of college players that want to keep their keeping
(01:11:12):
tune with their game over the summer, and Chillicothe Paintes
do it first class. Here all the people associated with
that Brian Wickline who's here today helping run fust things
at the VA and they just do a wonderful job.
Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
We've got District semi final action here at the VA
Memorial Stadium today as we start the bottom of the
fourth inning where the Logan Elm Braves are on top
of the Sherman's three to one. Stepping in for the
Shermans as Blake Sanders, he hits one out the right
field and a diving play made there by Speakman and
he comes up with an emphatic first out of the bottom.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Actually that's Davy Dalton Davy for Logan Elms. Speakman were
un Yodo, But I've got you Kyota's roster in front
of me. Yes, Davy with a great job. They are
making that play in right field.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
One out here in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Now stepping to the Blake for un Yodo, first baseman
Carter Elliott, Yeah, out of the stretch, delivers swinging foul
ball out to the right side is going to go
out of play. Be one strike on Elliott.
Speaker 3 (01:12:34):
Like Unioto, now has change their mindset. You know, they
were waiting on a lot of pitches. Now they're trying
to just attack right from the beginning. Oh one to Elliott,
neph ready is now delivers. It'll be a called strike
on the outside part of the plate. Oh two, Now
(01:12:55):
on Elliott, f shakes off the sign. Now takes it.
Hebert setting up high and outside. Nef blows it right
by Elliott for the second out of the inning.
Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
Sell you.
Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
This is the fourth inning. The first inning they went
down one two three. Third inning one two three, and
so far here one and two here in the fourth
inning for ne F, he's done a good job, although
as I said, he's thrown a lot of pitches this inning.
He's sort of conserved.
Speaker 2 (01:13:36):
It a little bit. Brandon White, the second baseman stepping
in for the Shermans. Now two outs here in the
bottom of the fourth Sherman's trailing by two. Nef deliver
strike on the outside part of the plate.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
You know, why was a strikeout victim there in the
second inning?
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
Set again is Nef he delivers and that one's going
to be called a ball. Look to be up and
outside of the zone. Yeah, one one to Braid and White.
Now Nef delivers breaking ball, chop foul down the third
(01:14:21):
base line. Made play there by the senior Jason Zikafus
of you and Yoda coming out of the dugout. One ball,
two strikes Braid and White. Gilbert setting up high in
the zone, foul ball straight back to the netting here.
(01:14:45):
White stays alive. Here in the bottom of the fourth
for the Shermans would.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
Have been right back at us.
Speaker 2 (01:14:55):
We'll do the one two once again. Nef Reddy's now
livers breaking ball. Sit right back up the middle under
it is Biley, and he makes the final out of
the inning. One two three ag the Shermans in the fordes.
We're heading to the fifth inning. Logan elm on top
three to one. You're listening to high school baseball here
(01:15:18):
on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 16 (01:15:20):

Speaker 10 (01:15:49):
Oh, the Scioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four
Country WKKJ.
Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Welcome back to the VA Memorial Stadium District semi final
action here between un Yodo and Logan Elm. We head
to the fifth inning with the Braves on top three
to one. Coming up for the Braves in this inning
two three four hitters of Blake's summer, Calton Bennington and
Camden Eber a part of the order for the Braves.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
Both. This is time of year also when you talk
about graduates, most schools have graduated already, and I believe
this was the last week for many schools as well.
So school is out and many of these players, these
seniors now have graduated high school and they are getting
ready to move on to whatever they do. But talking
about Logan Elm, you got Camden Ebert, Kelton Bennington, Zane Seimer,
(01:16:46):
Brady Nepp, Lucas Spiley, and Dawson Ferris, and you mentioned
a few of them going on with their baseball careers
to different colleges. You look at Uniodo, they have Jay
si Confuse, Judah Zickafus, Jackson Zickafus, David Long. Then we've
(01:17:06):
got Kendon Speakman and Trey Arnold. Those are the seniors
for Unioto.
Speaker 2 (01:17:14):
Lefty Blake Summers stepping to the plate and start the
fifth inning. First pitch, it's gonna go back to the
back stop. That'll be a ball. Summers attempted to square there, and.
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
I don't know what's the catcher.
Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
Davis is checking on his pitcher there. I don't know
if they was a mix up with signals or what
was going on. Coach Taylor stepped out for a second,
but then returned to the dugout. Now Davis is back
behind the plate, Sanders back on the mound, and Summer's
back at the plate. One ball, no strike, no one
(01:18:01):
else here. In the top of the fifth, Sanders delivers
your breaking ball, finds its way into the zone for
strike wine one. One pitch swung on, lifted foul and
(01:18:22):
out of play.
Speaker 3 (01:18:29):
Tell you what after this morning, I'm just amazed that
we're out of here playing baseball. It seems like a
totally different day after yesterday afternoon and this morning with
all the rain.
Speaker 2 (01:18:40):
We've got one two from Sanders, dribbled to the right side.
Play made by White at second base and he puts
out Summers at first, the first out of the inning
before the Shermans now stepping to the plate the short
stop Calton Bennington. Last time up for Bennington, it was
(01:19:07):
the two run double that gave the Braves the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
And they added another one in that ending to go
up three one. Seven hits for Logan home and Summers
has two hits for him and Bennington has that double.
Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Breaking ball missus widening outside for Sanders. That's ball one
to Bennington, went out here in the top of the fifth. Bennington,
this one high up the right side, and that's going
to be foul.
Speaker 3 (01:19:47):
A lot of foul area here at the VA, especially
down the line or the right field line. Left field
line you sort of have the party deck and things
like that, but right field line, there's a lot of
open space down there.
Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
Everyone back in position now, one ball one, strike one
out here in the top of the fifth, Logan elm
on top of the Shermans three to one. Bennington out
the plate. Sanders delivers, and that's going to be called
a ball to be up in the zone. Two balls,
(01:20:28):
one strike to Bennington. Sanders fires, and that's going to
be a strike on the outside part of the plate.
Two and two. Now Sanders sets now delivers swinging chopper
(01:20:49):
up to the right side. First baseman Elliott over to
make the play and steps on the bag. And now
it'll be the second out of the inning. Now stepping
to the plate for Logan Elm.
Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
The catcher cam Den Ebert. Ebert with a base hit
back in the second inning, the strikeout in the third inning.
Ear so one for two for Ebert on the afternoon.
Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
First pitch to Ebert lifted over the short stop and
Zicka Fru's diving can't make the play. I'll fall in
for a Bay's hit.
Speaker 3 (01:21:32):
Say what, They've had a lot of those little bloopers
that clear the infield and gets in there before the outfielders.
I'd say for their hits have come on hits, just
like that.
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
Runner on first two outs here in the top of
the fifth inning. Now stepping to the bat for Logan Elm.
The first baseman Zane Seemer, Sanders delivered shopper right to
the second bag. Oh no, it didn't hit the ground.
That was a liner got there by White. For the
final out of the top of the fifth, we head
(01:22:09):
to the bottom of the fifth Logan Elm on top
of the Shermans three to one.
Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
You're listening to accurate heady.
Speaker 2 (01:22:15):

Speaker 2 (01:22:54):
Welcome back here to the VA Memorial Stadium, District semi
final action between you and You and Logan Elm. The
Braves are on top of the Germans three to one
as we head to the bottom of the fifth inning.
Back on at the mound, four of the Braves is
the right hander Brady Neth coming to the plate for
(01:23:16):
un Yodo will be the seventy eight to nine hitters
long speakmen and Juwanna Gorn.
Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
Yeah, and for un Yoto, they've had three innings of
three up, three downs, so they have got to get
base runners and got to get something started here. It
was the bottom of the lineup back got them. They're
running the second inning, so long had that base hit
that RBI, So maybe he can get them started here
(01:23:47):
in the bottom of the fifth because they're running out
of chances. You got three out back left. But Nef
has done a good job of keeping them off balance
and not allowing them to really get settled at the plate.
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
It's really turned into a pleasant afternoon here at the
be A Memorial Stadium. Clouds still roaming through the area,
but the sun's peaked through a little bit, started to
heat up a little bit. But we've got a nice
breeze moving through the press box here.
Speaker 3 (01:24:21):
Also got a little fan over here that I can
turn around and head this way. But yeah, we got
a little late start about two twenty three start. We're
supposed start at one thirty, so but always well, right now.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
First pitch to Blake Long is going to be outside.
That'll be a ball.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
Big thank you to Sydney Newsom for helping us and
producing back in the studio and hanging with us on
a Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
One O pitches in the dirt, that'll be ball too.
The two to zero pitched along the fires, and that's
gonna be a swinging strike. One lit all change up there,
(01:25:22):
had them mount in front, two to one inside did
that hit the bat? Hits the bat. It hit the
bat of Long, So that's gonna be strike two. Unfortunate
there because it came inside and he pulled his hands
to his chest, but it hit the knob of the bat,
and that's gonna be a foul ball. Two balls, two
strikes now on the senior David Long.
Speaker 3 (01:25:45):
That's a good thing because that sound that was made,
I was like, I hope that's not his bone.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
That one came back inside on Long. This one's going
to be a ball. Moves the count to full. No
out's here. Bottom of the fifth. Long responsible for the
lone RBI for the Shermans so far. Three to two
pitch breaking ball smacked up the middle high running under
it is the right fielder Davy to make the play
(01:26:13):
in the first out of the inning for the Shermans.
Speaker 3 (01:26:18):
Yeah, good defense behind Nephear Nepts got three strikeouts, four
strikeouts on the day. But it's been a lot of
good fly balls and the outfield has done a good
job of getting to them and making them outs.
Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
Now banning for you and Yodo Kayden Speakman, the right fielder,
first pitch is going to catch the outside corner of
the strike one. Neph Reddy's again delivers that ball is
(01:26:55):
going to be pushed foul and Steamer didn't have a
play on it as it went over the railing. A
lot of players heading towards that railing very very cautious.
It's not a high railing. It's only standing about three
four feet tall, so if you run into it, you're
likely to flip over it, not just catch yourself. So
(01:27:18):
it's a little uneasy footing there for players as they
run into that fence.
Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
Two.
Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
Now on Speakman, nef delivers breaking ball at the top
of the zone. Is gonna be found straight back over
the grand stand. Here.
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
Speakman's gonna stay alive.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
No balls, two strikes one out here in the bottom
of the fifth inning, logan elm on top of Union
to three to one. Nef accepts the sign sets now
fires swinging al right. Three two ounce now Here in
(01:28:06):
the bottom of the fifth as the d H gave
Juana Corn steps back to the plate for you and Yodo.
Speaker 3 (01:28:22):
Neph has just done a great job of keeping new
Neo off the base pass here today.
Speaker 2 (01:28:30):
Nef delivers that ball will be outside for ball one
oh one, sorry one oh is in the dirt, and
that it'll be ball two two oh two ounce Here
(01:28:53):
in the bottom of the fifth inning, Freshman gave duanacorn
at the plate four you and Yodo. Nef fires, that'll
be strike one, catches the inside part of the plate.
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
Nef early in the game was way out in front
of hitters zho and two on most hitters. Now he's
sort of the other way. He starts out to and zero.
Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
This curveball really gets away from Nef. That goes over
everybody and goes to the backstop. Will be three balls
one strike now on Juuana Horn with two ounce here
in the bottom of the fit. You know we've got
time behind the home plate here.
Speaker 3 (01:29:44):
I don't know what the home plate umpires sees something
out there and now he's telling the umpire to go
and pick something up out there at second base.
Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
Some sort of jack that was shining. I could see.
Speaker 3 (01:30:02):
It from up here. No, now they're picking up something
else out there. Bennington comes over for some assistance. A
lot of housekeeping going on out there right now. The
third item was picked up, So.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
Now Nef's all the way at second base picking something up.
Speaker 3 (01:30:20):
Well. The funny here's the thing is, they had a
graduation here earlier this week, the Pickaway Ross Vocational School
had a graduation out here, So I wonder if maybe
out there there's some of that shiny stuff that the
mylar type stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
And for the first time really the sun is coming through,
so we see shadows, and then all that reflective plastic
or whatever it was out there was really starting to
make a disturbance.
Speaker 3 (01:30:54):
And the first time in a couple of days we've
seen the sun. Nef delivers.
Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
Now, Juana corn Vonta was going to be a ball,
but that's going to be strike two. We're gonna be
a full count.
Speaker 3 (01:31:05):
It's one way you got to go back and say
sorry to the umpire that you misread that one.
Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
Two balls, two strikes, two outs. Here at the bottom
of the fifth inning. Yeah, the Livers curveball is going
to be in the dirt. That'll be a walk for
Jawanna corn.
Speaker 3 (01:31:23):
The first base runner since that second inning for Uniota.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
Now the lineup turns over for the Sherman. Centerfielder Jack
Welch step into the plate. Two outs here in the
bottom of the fifth Juana Corn on first. Let's see
if coach Tony Taylor decides to start some runners on
the base path here, Yeah, delivers ball outside.
Speaker 3 (01:31:50):
Was nine straight uniodo Shermans that were they had got
out in a rows.
Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
So coach mcgloone stepping out of the dug out.
Speaker 3 (01:32:04):
I don't think he likes how Nef is reacting every
time he throws the ball now, because it just seems
like there's something out there bothering him. So he's gonna
go out and check with him and see what's going on.
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
Don't have his official pitch count, but you got to
expect he's getting up there, especially with the amount of
fool counts he's worked. Well, these Union would have batters
have worked. They've done a good job of battling back
out of holes and getting his pitch count up there.
Speaker 3 (01:32:39):
I would say he's definitely into the sixties, if not seventies.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Coach McLoone makes his way back to the dugout, players
find their position. Jack Welts steps back into the batter's box,
def checks over at first. Now sets and fires man.
That's going to be a ball high outside of the zone.
(01:33:09):
Two balls, no strikes to Jack Welch, Seamer holding Juanna
Corn at first. Nef fires liner to right field. Davy
over to make the play and he does that'll in
the inning. We head to the sixth inning. Logan elm
(01:33:32):
on top of you and Yoda three to one. You're
listening to high school baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Welcome back to the VA Memorial Stadium on this beautiful
afternoon of Memorial Day weekend. We've got districts semi final
action here where the Logan Elm Braves are on top
of the Unioda Sherman's with a score of three to
one coming to the plate for the Braves and the
top half of the six will be Lake Swice, Good,
(01:34:37):
Carter Grove and Lucas Gentry.
Speaker 3 (01:34:41):
Looking at some other finals around earlier today here at
the VIA, it was Wheelersburg defeating Washington Courthouse ninety three.
The winner of this game will play Wheelersburg on Tuesday.
Here at the BA at six thirty, Unioto Softball lost
in the diff final to Try Valley eleven to five,
(01:35:03):
So district runner up for the Uniotos shopball team Southeastern
goes down to make seven to two at their district
final and Adena and pikedon getting ready to play down
at Athens. So those are some final scores from other
places here today.
Speaker 2 (01:35:22):
Blake's twice good step into the plate to lead off
the top of the six. Sanders first pitch, breaking ball
into the zone for strike one.
Speaker 3 (01:35:33):
We got some movement down there in the bullpen for
Logan him I believe Bennington, Celton Bennington down there warming up.
Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
The whole one pitch in the dirt from Sanders. Even
as the count at one oh one. Sanders quickly ready
to go again, swinging swice good dribble it over to
Zickfoos throws on the first for the putout, be the
first out of the inning. Now coming to the plate
(01:36:09):
for Logan, elm Carter Congrove, the second.
Speaker 3 (01:36:11):
Baseman congrove for two on the day. Again, ironically, these
two teams played the first game of the year and
it was three to one, Logan home. And that's the
same score we have right now.
Speaker 2 (01:36:32):
First, some sand there's a breaking ball that sneaks back
inside the zone. Strike one.
Speaker 3 (01:36:38):
That was a late breaking ball there, that's snuck right
in there.
Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
One cong Grove is gonna be outside even the count
at one one ball, one strike, one out year and
the top of the sixth Sanders fires, and that's going
to be a ball low and outside. Two balls, one strike.
(01:37:07):
Now Sanders ready again swinging. The ball was fouled straight
behind the whole plate back to the back stop. I
mean two balls, two strikes now one out here and
the top of the six. Sanders livers Congrove, swings blooper
(01:37:38):
to right field, and Speakman's right there for the second
out of the inning. Late enough in the evening for
that sudden to be an issue out there yet, but
it's starting to be, as we've seen some sunglasses by
some of these players out there now coming into the
(01:37:59):
plate for the Raves, Lucas Gentry the d H two
outs here in the top of the six Raves on
top of the Shermans three to one. Sanders delivers balls
hit in the foul territory, going over to make a
play on it was Speakman, but he just couldn't get there.
Speaker 3 (01:38:20):
That's down where Bennington is warming up in. The catcher
was left unattended. The guy who was supposed to be
helping him out sort of left him, and the catcher
had no idea where that ball was, and last minute
he just put his head down and prayed it didn't
hit him. One now to Gentry, Sanders delivers the inside
(01:38:48):
for a ball, one ball, one strike, two outs. Anders
now delivers again, breaking ball head onto the left side
over to make a play. Zick a foosh to first
base for the putout, and that's how the top half
(01:39:10):
of the sixth inning will end.
Speaker 2 (01:39:11):
One, two, three, go the braids. We'll head to the
bottom of the six Logan Elm on the top of
you and Yode of three to one. You're listening to
the high school baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
Welcome back to the Via Memorial Stadium District semi final
action between Logan Elm and Yun Yoto. As we head
to the bottom in the sixth inning, Logan Elm all
top three to one, we're gonna have our first pitching
game change of the ball game. As we mentioned, Bennington
was warming up there in the top half of that inning.
(01:40:21):
Now he's gonna come in to replace Brady.
Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Nep And it looks like some defensive changes. Neff goes
to first base now, so he goes from the pitching
mound to first base. From first base to third base
goes Zanes or seemur So. He is now at third base.
(01:40:47):
At shortstop for where Bennington was is the third baseman,
Swice goood So Swicecood now at short seamer at third,
Nip at first, and on the mount is Bennington, who
leads the Logan Elm Braves in innings forty two and
(01:41:08):
a two thirds innings, also leads them in strikeouts with
forty three strikeouts. He has a three fifty eight ERA
as he comes in here, a nice, tall, lanky right hander.
Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
Going to the plate for un Yoda. It'll be the
two three, four hitters of Salts, Zigafoos and Sanders. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
If you're if you're Unioda right now, you need base
runners do what you can to get on base. Again,
as we mentioned these losses for Unyodo, no loss longer
than three runs or no loss bigger than three runs.
So it's a typical game for Uniodo. They just aren't
(01:41:57):
able to produce enough runs sometimes when these ball games,
I gotta do it now. Two at bats left, why.
Speaker 2 (01:42:03):
As saults at the plate Now for un Yodo, Bennington
the livers strike one swim. It's a little different wind
up now that the Unyodo hitters are going to see
he's actually in the wind up and not the stretch.
Bennington delivers now inside nearly hits Salts, but that's going
(01:42:28):
to be ball one, one ball one strike, no outs.
Here in the bottom of the sixth inning in Yoda
trailing Logan Elm by two runs, Bennington delivers. It was
a swinging strike that was tipped to the backstop by Salts.
Now one ball, two strikes.
Speaker 3 (01:42:50):
The only any Unido was able to get a run
scored was in any where they started off getting the
guy on base.
Speaker 2 (01:43:00):
M Bennington delivers swinging strike three. You're the first down
of the inning. Now coming to the plate for you
and Yodo. The shortstop Jackson Zickafoos one of those guys
(01:43:24):
that you and Yoda really would like to get on base.
Now with all the speed he brings, how would you
do it like?
Speaker 13 (01:43:37):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
Thet the wind up Bennington fastball outside of the zone,
ball one.
Speaker 3 (01:43:48):
So Nefko's five innings has five strikeouts, walked to gave
up one hit in one run.
Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
Bennington delivers Zickafou's hit one sharply out the left field,
summers under it, and he's gonna make a nice grab
out there as he was headed to the wall. That'll
be a loud second out of the inning for un Yoda.
Speaker 3 (01:44:13):
Again, Unioda when able to hit the ball pretty well,
it's been pretty much at Logan ELM's fielders. That was
a nice rundown there, and so defensively they've done a
good job behind their pitchers.
Speaker 2 (01:44:32):
Pitcher Blake Sanders stepping to the plate now for U
and Yoda, looking to get something going with two outs
here in the bottom of the sixth, Bennington breaking ball
in the dirt. That'll be ball one. Sanders was that
lone bass riter that came around to score back in
the second inning. Bennington will be a strike on the
(01:44:58):
inside part of the play one ball one strike. I wow,
Bennington delivers. This one's going to be a ball, he'd
be called low two balls one strike two outs. Here
(01:45:19):
in the bottom of the sixth inn he Sanders at
the plate. Bennington delivers swinging voul hip. I'll be strike two,
two and two count now on Sanders. Bennington gets the
(01:45:46):
sign from Ebert. Ebert's sitting up hind the zone, and
he delivers it right down the middle, and'll be a
looking strike three. At the end of six. The logan
elm braves three the unioda Sherman's one. You're listening to
high school baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (01:46:48):
Welcome back here to the VA Memorial Stadium District semi
final action between Logan Elm and Unyoda. As we head
to the seventh inning, Logan Elm is on top of
the Shermans three to one winner. This game advances on
to the district finals to take on Wheelersburg, who defeated
Washington in our first match up here at the VA.
(01:47:13):
Coming into the plate this half inning for Logan Elm
will be the nine to one to two hitters of Biley,
Nef and Summers. Yeah, Logan Elm has eight hits, three
runs and they have left five runners on base. For Unioto,
(01:47:33):
they have one run, one hit and they have left
three runners on base.
Speaker 3 (01:47:38):
So and not a lot of runners for Uniodo and
Logan Elm has done a good job of making their
hits profitable.
Speaker 2 (01:47:54):
Biley step into the plate for Logan Elm to start
the top half of the seventh inning. Sanders back on
the mound for you and Yoda. First pitch is going
to be outside for ball one. Second pitch is a
(01:48:14):
breaking ball down in the zone outside of the zone.
Actually that'll be ball two. Quickly, Sanders fires a strike
there one two balls one strike to Bailey, centerfielder, breaking
(01:48:37):
ball catches the inside part of the plate. Strike two,
two balls, two strikes to buy Ley, No out's here.
In the top of the seventh, Sanders deliver swinging foul
ball straight back to the netting here, so we'll do
the two to two once again deep playing infield here
(01:49:04):
for Biley. Strike three to Biley on the outside corner
of the play. That looked a bit outside, but uh,
Sanders gets a call there now batting Brady Neff Pitzer,
(01:49:26):
who started the game then moved over to first base,
comes to the plate. One out here in the seventh inning,
Sanders breaking ball outside, beat ball one. Sanders sets now
(01:49:50):
delivers breaking ball on the inside part of the play.
That's also going to be a ball. It'd be two balls,
no strikes. One out here in the top of the
seventh Sanders again fastball, swinging strike one. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:50:08):
Our next game here at the va is Sims Valley
versus Huntington. Both teams here and ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
Fastball outside corner. Strike two, two balls, two strikes to
Brady ne F. Brady ne F, we had Mitchell signed
with Capital Play Baseball next year. Breaking ball outside even
moves to count to full three balls, two strikes. You
(01:50:46):
have to watch that three to two from Sanders fastball
fought off, fouling out of play behind the grandstand here,
So we'll do the full count once again.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
And again. Nef did a really good of starting here
for Logan home, going five innings, giving up one hit,
one run, three two from Sanders fastball once again fouled
backing out of play.
Speaker 2 (01:51:17):
Full count to Brady. Nef went out here in the
top of the seven Sanders breaking ball chopped up the
left side. That's gonna go foul, just outside of the
third base bag. So we'll do the three to two
once more. Brady Nef given the taste of their own medicine.
(01:51:42):
Neck to them all those unioda batters that took him
past the full count. Now this one's lined in the center.
Welch has got a long way to go. He's not
gonna get there, but he'll cut it off and that'll
be a base hit for Brady Nef.
Speaker 3 (01:51:57):
That was a good at bat there. He battled through
that one and was able to make clean hit. That's
two hits for him today, So two for four for
Brady Nephew's batting three five on the year.
Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
Now coming to the plate for logan Ell. The left
fielder Blake Summers. One on one out here in the
top of the seventh, Summers squares bunts it right back
to Sanders. Sanders thought about going to second, but gets
it over the first for the putout.
Speaker 3 (01:52:33):
Yeah, they're definitely still playing that uh small ball to
try to add on another run.
Speaker 2 (01:52:42):
And Bennington's gonna come to the plate, but we're gonna
have an intentional walk, so Bennington will take first phase,
so Ebert will come to the plate now. Two outs
here and the top of the seventh.
Speaker 3 (01:52:56):
Two on.
Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
Were the catcher.
Speaker 3 (01:53:01):
Ebert's two for three tonight or today He's got two singles.
One of those singles was a bunt single, but two
singles nonetheless, or I'm sorry he had two solid singles.
He was not part of that bunt.
Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
Nef on second, Bennington on first, Ebert at the plate.
Sanders deliverers strike on the outside part of the plate.
Two outs here on the top of the seventh.
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
This big hitter for Sanders, he's got to attack him
and get back in the dugout and let his offense
see if they can't get two runs.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
Sanders delivers that ball's low. Be one ball, one strike
to Eber. Sanders working out of the stretch. Now sex
back on Nef. Now delivers breaking ball inside on Nef.
(01:54:03):
It'll be two balls, one strike now that stayed inside,
but that had the batter frozen. Two balls, one strike,
two outs, runners on first and second. Sanders gets the sign,
checks on Nef at second, now delivers home check swing
(01:54:28):
that was made contact and the ball went foul. I'll
have two balls, two strikes on Eber.
Speaker 3 (01:54:36):
I was close to his hands up there where that
ball got fouled off.
Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
Two balls, two strikes, two outs, two on. Here in
the top of the seventh, Sanders checks back with White.
Now delivers breaking ball head over White's head. Nef's coming
around third, relay home is not gonna be there, and
that'll be a good piece of two out hitting for
the RBI for Eber.
Speaker 3 (01:55:07):
Yeah, there's that. As I said, that small ball, bunning
the runner over there second base at all that stuff up,
So give that kudos to Blake Summers and getting that
bunt down and runner over the second I was able
to score another run, makes it four to one.
Speaker 2 (01:55:28):
Bennington over to third on the base hit Ebert at first.
Now I have to play Zane Seemer, going back to
Ebert three for four on the day three singles RBI.
First pitch to Zeemer was a ball outside. Now though
(01:55:51):
one to oher. Seemer is chopped up the left side,
and that's gonna go foul. I didn't see anybody make
a call there. I'm parted down the third really didn't
do anything in the home blade umpire finally made the call,
but it's clearly foul when David Long picked it up.
(01:56:14):
One ball, one strike, two outs. Here in the top
of the second, Bennington on third, Ebert on first for
the Braves, Sanders checks over the first down, delivers get
to the shortstop play at Second's going to be the
final out of the inning. One run came across for
(01:56:36):
the Braves in that half inning. They extend their lead
four to one. As we go to the bottom of
the seventh, you're listening to high school baseball here on
ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 3 (01:57:24):
Welcome back.
Speaker 2 (01:57:25):
Here to the Via Memorial Stadium District semi final action
between un Yodo and Logan Elm. Logan Elm is on
top as we head to the bottom of the seventh
from the score four to one. Coming to the plate
for un Yodo will be the four five six batters
(01:57:48):
of Sorry the five No four five six batters. Sorry, Sanders,
Elliott and white Well coach three outs here to the
term in the season of Unyoda.
Speaker 3 (01:58:02):
Yeah, you gotta get that was a big run for
Logan Elm. Now you got to get three runs, not two,
but three runs if you're Uniota, if you want to
extend this game. If not, that's going to be the
end of the year for Uniota. Sherman's so big Tall
task here again facing Kelton Bennington on the mound, and
(01:58:23):
he has proved in that last inning that he struck
out two of the Shermans, who of the three batters
he faced. So tough situation for the Shermans to be in.
But if you want to extend your year, you need
to get some guys on base here I think I
did miss misspeak there.
Speaker 2 (01:58:42):
It will be the five, six, seven hole hitters of
Carter Elliott, Brandon White, and David Long up this ending
for un Yoda. Back on the mound for the Braves
is Calton Bennington took over Brady Neugh in the bottom
(01:59:02):
of the sixth inning. Now looking to get the two
inning save for the Raves, Carter Elliott step into the
plate for you and Yodo catcher e Bert steps out
(01:59:22):
and gives the signs to the defense. Now Bennington steps
to the mound, gets the sign, starts to wind up,
delivers in the dirt ball. One.
Speaker 3 (01:59:37):
Yeah. Defensively, this has been a good fundamental game for Loganome.
They did have the one air. That air was on
a dropped fly ball in the infield where two guys
sort of collided, But again, really good defensive game by
Logano breaking ball by Bennington drops in for a strike,
(01:59:58):
one ball, one strike to Elliott.
Speaker 2 (02:00:04):
It's like Ebert's having some technical difficulties with the shin
guard there, gets that figured out, the sets himself and
gets the signs to Bennington. Bennington now wouldn't wind up,
and that's going to be a ball on the outside
(02:00:24):
part of the plate. One ball, one strike. Now the
carter the one one chop to the short stop and twice.
Good makes the play at first for the first out
of the inna.
Speaker 3 (02:00:46):
Down to two outs here for Unioto, they need a
base runner White zero for two here today random White,
second basement, stepping in for you, Yoda one out here
in the bottom of the seventh logan Elmon, tap of
you and Yoda four to one. Bennington on the mound
(02:01:11):
delivers inside ball one.
Speaker 2 (02:01:24):
The one zero inside strike one one ball one strike
one out here in the bottom of the seventh in
Bennington chakes off the first nine except the second. Now
delivers White the swice good, swice Good bobbles this when
(02:01:45):
fires the first that's high.
Speaker 3 (02:01:48):
Even Russell there to.
Speaker 2 (02:01:50):
Save the play. But it looked like Neff when he
went to jump for that, he came down and he
might have twisted his ankle shaking it off there. Let's
see if they score that an error base hit. Swisscold
bobbled it, had time to make the play, kind of
rush the throw.
Speaker 3 (02:02:11):
Yeah, that's going to be an air. But again, great
job there by Ebert. If he's not hustling down the line.
There he gets that guy to second.
Speaker 2 (02:02:22):
White on first, now stepping in David Long, responsible for
the only RBI of the afternoon for the Shermans. Bennington
checked on White at first. Now out of the stretch,
comes set and delivers home. There'll be a strike on
(02:02:42):
the outside part of the play. No balls, one strike,
one out. Brandon White at first. Bennington out of the stretch,
checks on White. Now delivers right back up the middle. Swice,
could I having stop gets it the second over the first, No,
(02:03:04):
it'll be safe at first. What a play there, Swice.
Speaker 3 (02:03:08):
Good. He did a really good job to get the ball.
Speaker 2 (02:03:14):
Stood up, stepped on second and almost had a chance
at ending the game there.
Speaker 3 (02:03:19):
Yeah, he did a great job of getting to that
ball first and foremost because that ball was going right
back up the middle. But he was able to stop it,
knock it down and had the smarts just to get
up and touch second base. But as you said, through
a dart over the first base almost got the double
play Long on first.
Speaker 2 (02:03:40):
Now, first pitch to speakman who steps in for the Shermans,
is going to be a strike on the inside part
of the play. The balls, one strike, two outs. Now
in the bottom of the seventh, Benning tenth checking on
Long now delivers home swinging strike at the bottom of
the zone, and I.
Speaker 3 (02:04:01):
You gotta just stay alive if you're speaking up there
at the plate and try to get something in.
Speaker 2 (02:04:09):
No balls, two strikes, two outs. Here in the bottom
of the seventh, Bennington comes set and delivers fly ball.
Be foul and it's gonna go out of play. So
we'll do the O two over again.
Speaker 3 (02:04:32):
Now, you had three guys there for logan On racing
over there trying to make that catch. I know how
important it is to get.
Speaker 2 (02:04:38):
That out of last out, no balls, two strikes to
Kayden's speakman, two outs for the Shermans. Here in the
bottom of the seventh, Annington out of the stretch. It's
the signs from Eber checks over first now delivers home
(02:05:03):
swing in a pop fly to the infield. Swice Goods
calling for it and he gets the final out of

Ninety four Country WKKJ, the Scioto Valley's home for today's country.
Speaker 2 (02:07:43):
Welcome back to the VA Memorial Stadium where we had
District semi final action between the Unioda Shermans and the
Logan Elm Braves. Logan Elm comes out victorious from the
final score of four to one in the tournament the
district finals against Wheelersburg. That'll be here at the VA
(02:08:06):
on Tuesday night. Coach saw another good game here tonight.
I think it comes down to this that that third
inning where a couple of mistakes by the Shermans cost
them dearly.
Speaker 3 (02:08:18):
Yeah, and again they weren't there, but they were just
mental mistakes that allowed them to score their runs. They
get three runs there in that inning, and that was
big because Unioto had just scored in the bottom of
the second, so loganh was was able to answer and
then take the leads. So I think that was the
(02:08:38):
big part of the game that sort of changed the tide.
And then Unyoto just was never able to get anything
going in and credit to both Nef and Bennington for
Logan Elm pitching wise. Nef went five innings, Bennington went
two innings, and they just did not allow u Nioto
to get anything going other than that big hit by
(02:09:00):
David Long that was the only RBI and that was
the only hit they really got in the game that
helped them. And you know, it was a tale of
uniotas season really close games. Every game they played they
were in never lost a game by more than three runs.
And what do you lose tonight? You lose by three.
(02:09:20):
You opened the year up against his Logan home team
losing three to one, You ended losing four to one.
So it was just a tale of how Uniota season went.
A good season nonetheless. And again you talk about their seniors.
You have the seniors over there, Chris or but you
talk about the Unio seniors playing their last game here
(02:09:42):
for Uniodo.
Speaker 2 (02:09:44):
Yeah, you have the triplets of the Sikavoos brothers Jace,
Jackson and Judah. And then you got David Long, Speakman
and Arnold both all playing in their final games as
un Yoda.
Speaker 3 (02:09:58):
Sherman and again Sanders did a great job on the
mound for Uniota once again and has showed that how
good of a pitcher he was. He he was an
All league pitcher and he'll be back because Anders was
only a junior, so U Niodo has a lot coming
back and pitching wise, And but they do lose, you
(02:10:19):
you'll lose a first team player in Jackson Zickafoos. That's
that's going to be a big loss, and it'll be
weird next year not seeing a zickafoo's out for Unioto
in any of the sports, it seems like. But you know,
great season by Uniodo. But he ass off to Logan Elm.
I appreciate coach mcloan getting us all the stats. And
(02:10:39):
we'll see come Tuesday if we'll be back out here.
I gotta figure some stuff out, but we may be
back out here on Tuesday to do one of the
two games that still could be here. Tuesday six thirty
game will definitely be Wheelersburg versus this Logan Helme team,
but the next two games the winner of those two
(02:10:59):
games the four thirty game and could be Southeastern and
Huntington possibly, So we'll see if we'll be back out
here Tuesday. We will definitely be out back out here
on Wednesday for Zane Trades versus Ironton, So stay tuned
to WKKJA for so are some updates on what games
will be covered. But hopefully we have some more baseball
(02:11:20):
to go. Chris, but today was fun. It was nice
that the weather cooperated with us eventually, But what a
wonderful afternoon here at the be A.
Speaker 2 (02:11:29):
Yes, it turned out to be a very pleasant afternoon.
And if you don't have any other plans for your
Memorial Day Saturday night, come out here to the VA.
It's very nice weather and you can watch some good baseball.
A couple of local SVC teams playing for their chance
to move on in the tournament. Well, I think that'll
(02:11:51):
do it for us here at the VA Memorial Stadium.
This was the Districts semi final action between un Yodo
and Logan elm Uni Yodo falling by the score of
four to one for sending me back in the studio
