the Zane Trace baseball team as they wrap up their
outright SVC title with a win over West Fault tonight
twelve to five. Talking to Lucas Euler here. First, Lucas,
is your senior year. You guys won the title back
your sophomore year. But this year, you guys, it's got
to be special for you.

Oh yeah, I mean senior year. It's your last sport
ever in high school. So you know, going out winning
the league, I mean super special to do. I mean
your last chance to do it, so it really means
a lot.

You wrapped it up tonight. But last Thursday you had
a big win over there Uni Yodo is two nothing
and nine innings. You had a big two two RBI
double there to have all the scoring.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
What was that feeling like last Thursday?

I mean it was it was electric. I mean, you know,
extra ending game against your rival means probably the league. Yeah,
it was amazing, I mean super happy, super happy I
could do for my guys. I mean that was awesome.

we got here? Grady Stewart Grady h. I tell you what,
you plays it or had some nice plays in the

Yeah, I knew coming into this game West Fall, they're
a really good hitting team. They hunt fastballs, so that
kind of kind of heard us. There was the third
or fourth inning.

Yeah, the first couple winnings.

Got out of a.

Crunch there a couple of times, but I mean coming
in throwing, I had a good mindset, kept my composure, No,
came in, finished the job, got it done, got the win.

You had some solid shots as well, and I'll tell
you what, You've made a great play there in the
seventh any going after that ball in center field looked
like it they caught you a little off garden. You
were able to go get it.

Yeah, I knew I was getting close to the fence
because I harsh center field. That hump once you get
out there till like ten foot away from it, it
starts to go uphill when I felt like I was
running up hill there for solid two seconds and I
knew I was getting close, but I knew I could
get it. Even if I got to the fence, I
could have jumped and got it, but I got there

just in time. I saw it good off the bat
as the main thing sun, I mean, it's shining. I
was blocking it with my hand for the pitch, so
thankfully I was doing that well.

Again in the spring of your senior year, you get
an SVC title. You had great careers in football in basketball,
but here you get a title here to wrap things up.

Yes, basketball really hurt, losing to Unia twice after we
had a great game at their place and lost the lead.
But winning that game last week really really felt, really
felt good. And then obviously winning today outright winning the league.
I mean, that's highlight of my sports year, I'd say,

and I'm just excited to see what we can go
do in tournaments.

You know, looking at for pitching status, you don't have
a lot of innings, but it seems like you're on
the mound quite a bit, and.

Yeah, I just I know I don't th hard.

I just got to go in, throw strikes on my defense,
make plays because I don't have a lot of innings,
but I have a lot of games pitch.

So as long as I go in and throw strikes
like I try to do, usually good things happen.

And good thing my starter set me up in good

So we know we have two really good power hitters
back to back of Lucas and Gunner. So if we
get on base, we know there's a good shot they're
gonna hit us in. So we just got to get
on base. However it takes getting hit by pitch, walk,
base hit air, whatever it takes. Just get on base
and let them do their job hit us in.

here in the spring. That's something that's got to be great.

Yeah, it's the first one in any sport for me.
I play basketball too, and I wish we could have
got it this year, but we didn't. But now that
we get in baseball, it feels amazing. It's everything I
would have thought of. Honestly, it's just amazing.

I'm now with the head coach on Allen of Zane
Trace baseball. Coach, you wrap up the league title tonight
here with the win over Westfall twelve to five. West
Fall gave you a game there and that you guys
scored four runs in the bottom of the third, but
they answered right back. But your team was just able
to come through at the end.

Our league this year was very good as far as
any any team could be. Anybody given nice because everybody's
got a couple of arms we could throw. And we
started out two and four this year and lost our
first league game, and the kids, you know, saddled it
up after that happened. And if we won our last
twelve league games or whatever and been playing pretty good baseball,
(06:36):
we have lost two non league games in that stretch.
But you know, I can't say anything more about the seniors.
For seniors good leadership and and a lot of my
younger kids who've been around the program for a long time,
you know what the expectations are, and those kids came
through when it mattered.

Well again, you get to win tonight to wrap it up,
but I'm gonna go to the last Thursday.

I didn't get a chance to talk to you after

But that was a heck of a win on the
road at Unioto two nothing, nine innings. Your pitcher, Pierce
Man's did a great job for nine innings, And talk
a little bit about him.

Yeah, he's a you know, d one recruit and he's
only a junior, and you know, he's got a great arm.
We decided not to throw him tonight because he throwing
Monday and Thursday both, so we thought he needed a
little more rest. And he's all through Wednesday, and the
gunner gunner mccaullay came back and after throwing Friday seventy
pitches through well tonight for four innings, he said he

could do it.

So did a good job at Pierce.

You know, as you know, he's got a huge future,
you know, in front of him, and you know you
don't want to throw his arm out in high score
or whatever, so you know, but he threw well. And
the kid from Uniota threw well. I mean, he threw
a great game. Also, we never hit him for some reason.
He's got a good twelve six curveball. But yeah, I
was I was a great high school baseball game. I
just said that even if we lost, I mean, it
was a great game, and wanted to take a nine

innings and he took me an hour forty five instant.

Yeah, I was on earlier. My wife was like, what
are you doing here?

Yes, quick game, and that's we like to play.

You got one more league game on Wednesday, but then
you got a couple of weeks of non league games.
What do you do with those non league games to
get to prepare them for the tournament?

We you know, we play a good non league schedule.
When you know, we got Circles on tomorrow and I
were going up here to play, and they got Python
on Wednesday. The next week we got Wheelersburg, Menford, Miami.
Tracey has got a good team this year. You know,
try to get you know, games to get us prepared
for tournament. We get to it and all those schools
are you know, mostly bigger than we are, and go
see good pitching and stuff. Was their leagues are over

with too, So just to get ready to go for
the tournament and just play good competition. That's what we'd
always do non league. We don't play you know, automatics.
That's probably what we're three and five non legas year
or whatever. But yeah, I mean playing good teams, good
programs as work will get you better, all right.
