Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a presentation of iHeartRadio Sports. This is
High School Baseball on ninety four Country w KKJA. Now
from behind home plate, here's Lil Postage.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Well, pleasant, good evening to you. Welcome to VA Memorial
Stadium for a second night in a row. We had
a good one last night as Uniota fell in a
three to two ball game, and hoping for another good
one here today and out there on the field today
it's the Zing Trace Pioneers taking on the Chillicothy Cavaliers.
Welcome in. I'm Jacob Wise along with Lou Postage. Sydney

(00:41):
Newsom back in studio producing the broadcast tonight. And not
only that good game yesterday, there were two of those,
because Paint Valley and Jase Reinhardt throw a no hitter
in the nightcap here last night. And then today West
Paul beats Logan Elm in eight innings, eight to five.
And so the last three games played on this turf
who have been pretty good, and we think this one

(01:02):
might be good as well.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
And that's what you want when you get a you know,
place like this that hosts a great event like what
we're having. That's what you want to see. Is good baseball,
and I think these kids have rised up and came
out here and showed their best. So hopefully we get
that again tonight. Beautiful night here. Not the sun and
definitely not the win tonight, but lights are on and

(01:25):
the field looks great.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
We'll go through the lineups here shortly, but we can't
tell you that Pierce Manson is the starting pitcher for
the Sane Trace Pioneers. Chilicothee will be the visiting team,
Saint Trace winning the coin flip, and the first pitch
on the way is a strike called on the outside corner.
We're underway at seven fifty one first pitch and seventy

(01:48):
five degrees here at first pitch, oh one swung on
a miscoda heater away makes it nothing and too quickly
to e. Sean Brown, the shortstop leading off for Chili Coothee,
bats right handed. Manson fires fastball, so here's strike three called.
Got him on the outside corner and the first batter
retired quickly from the right hander Pierce Manson.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Yeah, no if ends or butts about those pitches, so
he came right at him.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
Jaden Gallagher will bat next, and then it'll be Tay Harris,
James Wrinkle, Connor Bolin, Aiden Scales, Rucker, Deddy, Levi, Moss
and Walker thrown the batting lineup for the Chilicoti Cavaliers
in this one pitch down low here skips to the backstop.
Three man umpiring crew behind the plate, Kevin Pickerel calling
the balls and strikes. Anthony Sheets over on the right

(02:34):
side of the infield. Eddie Demer works the left side here,
so swinging a mist at a good fastball down and
the count even at a ball to strike at Jaden Gallagher,
who is two for five at the plate to start
his season. He bats left handed, and now the one
to one on the way is in there for a strike.
That's all you like to see, You're starting pitcher going
out throwing strikes.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, good looking kid hit out there, nice right hand
or tall lanky.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
And now the one two offering is just a bit low.
All turf surface here at VA Memorial Stadium, three twenty
five down the lines, three point fifty ish to the
alleys and just one hundred four hundred feet to center field.
Two two breaking ball wave that had missed for strike three.
Gallagher a late decision to go after that back door

(03:23):
hook Now a sharp breaking ball makes out number two
back to back strikeouts to start the game for Pierce Manson.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yeah and again again. He's coming right at him, not
fooling around at all, and.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Right handed hitting Tay Harris sticks in, takes a breaking
ball low and away, four for seven at the plate
to start the year. A couple of RBIs a couple
of doubles to his credit, one of them get hard
overtour second base picked up thereby Kaiser flips the first
and Chillakathi goes one two three half it in again

(04:02):
the book here at the VA no score between Chillicothi
and Zane Tracis is high school Baseball ninety four country WKKJ.

Speaker 4 (04:09):

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Remember if the best deal on wheels in southern high
give us a try before you buy. I'm Norm Lovick.
I guarantee you.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
Theo Iioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Well three up, three down for the Chillicothe Cavaliers in
the top half of the first and now Eighten Scales
Ready is to make his second trip out to the
Mound on this early season for Chillicothy, who comes in
at one and two. Zane Trace two and one with
two straight wins after a loss in their opener, and
Chillicathee fairly young team in terms of experience, trying to

(05:11):
gain that kind of on the fly as they start
through this early part of the season, and coach Tom
Barr saying, we're a lot better now than we were
just a month ago even.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
And I'm sure they're going to be a lot better
in another month too, because a lot of these guys
getting their first taste of a varsity baseball action in here.
They're getting it on a major stage. Here be a
memorial stadium.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
A great crowd here as well, and it's always fun
when you get the kind of crossover crowd between the
first game and the second game. That first game ran long,
it was a good game, so you get both groups here.
So probably a few Prospect League teams that would like
to have that many people show up to one of
their games.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Yeah. Again, it's good to see Chillicote playing some of
these schools that are close to them, not in their league,
and I think the kids enjoy that.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Aiden scales up on the rubber into the wind up
ready with him first offering, and it's in there for
a low called strike. Mason Hartley leads off for the Pioneers,
left fielder three for ten at the plate to start
the year, has five RBIs to his credit. That's right
hand at the one and a chopper to third will
go foul. Just barely in front of the bag is

(06:17):
Connor Bolan was making his way over.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Hey, you get over there in front of him. It
took a really weird hop there sideways and fortunately for
him it was going foul.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
It's one of those things about the turf. If you
have a spinning ball, it's almost like a Q shot
in a game of pool. If it's spinning, it'll hit
that turf and kick one direction, and if it's wet,
you have to be careful. It's not wet now, but
if it is, you have to worry about the ball
skipping instead of taking a bigger bounce. Two pitch here
Liner towards second one hop glove by Levi Moss flips

(06:51):
the first one away four three crowd out for Mason
Hartley to start at the bottom half of the first.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
I'll tell you what, no knee for a pitch clock here.
Both these pitchers get it and they are ready to go.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
I've been waiting around a while, so they're happy to
be out there on the field. Is Quinton Allen the catcher,
digs in on the left side for a sane trace
three for his first eight with an RBI to start
the spring season. Scales delivers and the first pitch here
down low after Allen will be Gunner mccallough, then Lucas Euler,
Grady Stewart, Blake Payne, Jaren Wilson, Noah Kaiser and Jacob Staffer.

(07:28):
The lineup for zane trace one ozerho fowed to the
left side and out of play. Here the buzzing in
the background. There's nothing wrong with your your setup it's
the old lights here at this old ballpark.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Again, something that a lot of high schools don't normally
play is under the lights.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
One to one pitch, catches the outside edge one and
tune out of Quinton Allen, who has a kind of
an open battings. It's that front foot farther toward first
base than the back foot. One two pitch, swinging a
mass out in front of the breaking ball. He's down
on strikes first for eight in scales, and there's out
number two with nobody on for the center fielder. Gunner McCullough.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Yeah, this is a This is a kid who excels
in just about anything he does. And I tell you
what I know. You may have had some time to
interview him with previous game or years, but men, can
he speak? Well?

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Yeah, he really does pitch upstairs here, and you have
to be a good communicator when you play the position
that he does. In the fall, A very good football
player and off to a four to eight start this
year at the play's club. Got hit by the pitch there,
got him on the elbow on that front arm. So
there's the game's first base runner, a two out hit

(08:50):
five pitch and the Pioneers have a runner at first
with two down, Lucas Euler will take in the third
baseman one for seven, but that one a three run
home run, So hitting there in the cleanup spot, you
know he has some pop. That home run coming in
a twenty seven to four win over Eastern brown Back

(09:11):
on Monday. Swings the first pitch here, fouls it over
the right side, out of play. So a runner at first,
two down, bottom of the first inning, no score yet,
no hits yet, just the first base runner on the
hit by pitch, just a moment ago. I have to
step off and a look toward first base, but Scales

(09:33):
will hang on to it, force that runner back being
held on there by Tay Harris at first base. Oh
one ranky ball ran in and got Oiler on the shoulder.
So back to back, two out hit by pitches and
I'll send Oiler to first and mccull at a second

(09:53):
and Grady Stewart will have an RBI opportunity here with
two down in the bottom of the first inning. Stuart
two for his first seven with a triple, has driven
in four so far this year, says, same trace offense
that has come into this one hitting three nineteen through
three games, they've driven in twenty nine runs. They've scored

(10:14):
more than that bitch outside here to start it. So
you give this pioneer offense a chance. For the most
part this year, they've been able to take advantage. Look
back to second base from the stretch scales fires. So
swinging a mess out in front of a breaking ball
as Grady's stewart and account even at a ball and

(10:36):
a strike.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Yeah, it's interesting. You see Grady, I know he wore
three in football. Agree in basketball? Now three here in baseball.
So interesting. Now certain numbers stick with players.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Look back to second couple looks back there, and now
time called at the plate is Stuart The batter requested
it of the homeplat umpire, Kevin pickerel you it really
is a request as a hitter. The umpire does not
have to give it to you. There's some unwritten rules
that go into that. Here's the one one and a
ball lifted foul down the right field line, but thrown

(11:11):
on the run trying to give it a chance, and
it'll land foul out behind the bullpen in the right
field corner.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
That is a good what fifteen to twenty yards there
in foul territory.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Yeah, it's there's some space over there. Really gets fun
when there's a bullpen full of pitchers out there hanging out,
and chairs and benches go flying and trying to get
out of the way. Nobody out there right now. A
ball two strikes the Grady Stewart two on two out
here in the bottom of the first the pitch and
it runs in high to even the count two and

(11:44):
two to two swinging. This the second strack out of
the inning for aid in Scales strands two runners after

(12:05):
back to back two out hit by pitches or through
one no score between Saint Trace and CHILLICOTHI. This is
high school baseball on ninety four Country Wkkjavin Doug, There's
nowhere I wouldn't go to help someone customize and save
on car insurance with Liberty Mutual, even if it means
sitting front row and a comedy show.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Hey everyone, check out this guy in his bird. What
is this your first day?

Speaker 6 (12:30):
Oh no, we help people customize and save on car
insurance with Liberty Mutual.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
Together.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
We're married a need to a human, him to a bird. Yeah,
the bird looks sound of your league.

Speaker 7 (12:39):
Anyways, only kay for what you need at Libertymutual dot com.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
The Scioto Valley's home for ten day's Country ninety four
Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Top of the second inning here at VA Memorial Stadium,
no score between the Saint Trace Pioneers the Chilcothy Cavaliers,
both teams notching a couple of strikeouts and each half
of the first inning. Here's Manson back up on the
rubber one, two three. He sat down Chillicotie in the first,
struck out the first two batteries. He comes into this

(13:15):
game ozho to one. He started the season opener here
against Delaware Hayes when six innings, gave up one earned
run on two hits, struck out six, and took the
loss of a three to two decision. So that's another
one we were talking about tough luck losers. As pitchers,
you go out and you pitch well and you just
don't get the run support. And sometimes that win loss

(13:37):
record is a little deceiving to how well the pitcher
has pitched.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Well, we've seen here in one inning. I can see
how well he pitched. You know he's got the capability.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
So James Wrinkle will lead off here for Chillicothe center
fielder bats left hand. It takes to strike on the
inside corner four twenty nine average for him to start
first seven at the plate. Three RBIs trying to set
the table for the Calves here in the top of
the second, the pitch swaying in abyss. I'm gonna really

(14:12):
have to fight against thinking it's the bottom of the inning.
Chilicotie with their all white unis on the home whites.
Of course, a coin flip before the game decides who
is home in this week of games. Is swinging amss
here and it's the third strikeout for Pierce Manson, one
away here in the second.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
Yeah, he is just coming and attacking these hitters right now.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
They don't have the radar gun on here at the ballpark,
but it'd be interested to see what kind of velocity
he has out there.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Well, I'll tell you from where I am. It's moving.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
He's popping the mid Connor Bowland digs in the third
basement two for his first seven with a double in
an RBI takes a hack and comes up empty on
the first offering here from Manson. Oh one strike called
off the outside edge face is empty one out top

(15:08):
of the second inning, no score. First four batteries have
been retired for the Cavaliers. Oh two pitch, missus low
and away.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
I think he tried to add a little extra on
that one.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
And now bowling taking a chance to tighten up his shoelaces.
Here's the one two pitch, swinging a miss, bowling late
on the pitch there strikes out number four for Manson.
He's struck out four of the first five and out
two down nobody on for Aiden Scales, the pitcher.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
I'll tell you what he is, throwing some smoke out there.
I'm messing around either.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Here's the first offering of Scales is swinging a miss
on a pitch down and Indy's not much beating around
the bush here. Oh one, that's a fastball for a
strike on the outside corner.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
You better come ready when you get out there to
the plate.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
It's moving it around the zone quite a bit too.
It's the two now and a breaking ball almost knuck
back over the inside part of the plate.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
A third basement and shortstop are running in and they
took off.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
They were headed to that first base, dugout and called
never came. Here's the one two pitch they got that
one high strike, three up, three down. As Manson strikes
out the side. He has struck out five of the
first six Chilicothi hitters were throw an inning and a half,
no score between the Pioneers and the Cavaliers. This is
high school baseball. On ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 8 (16:47):
IHeartRadio goes one on one with Darius Rutger to talk
about his little girl's musical talent.

Speaker 9 (16:53):
I let her teach me to play the gallely now,
so we sit down and we play together, and uh,
it's it's amazing to me how she that's a she
learned going on and watching all those you can like,
she watching for hours, and she'll come back and just
play songs.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
And I love it. And so I'm letting her teach
me chords and stuff like that. I'm playing that.

Speaker 8 (17:10):
Keep listening to iHeartRadio for more Darius rutgerd and all
your favorite artists.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
Ninety four Country w KKJ, the Scioto Valley's home for
today's country.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Bottomly second inning here at VA Memorial Stadium. No score
so far, just two base runners through an inning and
a half. There were two out hit by pitches and
the bottom of the first inning in sane Trace was
unable to cash in on that is, and in Scales
got the strikeout to end that inning. And then it

(17:49):
was Pierce Manson who came out and struck out the
side one, two, three, and the top half of the
second inning. So five strikeouts for him through two innings
of work, and Nolly Saint Trace offense will come out
here and try to break this scoreless time.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Yeah, this has been a wonderful week for baseball out
here at BA Memorial Stadium, and I think it wraps
up tomorrow. I think I got to schedule here in
front of me four games out here tomorrow, so you're
out and about and you want to see some good
high school baseball, which we've seen here last two days.
I think we got Marriett and he's starting at ten
am Amanda Clear Creek in Athens. Then follows you got

(18:27):
Wheelersburg and Kenton Ridge.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Ken Rich is really really good. They're from the Springfield area.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
And then Washington Courthouse in Southwest will wrap things up
tomorrow evening here at VA Memorial Stadium. So a great
week of high school baseball to get started here for
the twenty sixth season.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Blake Payne leads off, he's hit by the first offering,
and so San Trace with the leadoff man on third
hit batter by Aiden Scales and Sharon Wilson will dig
in here for Sane Trace. But got this first week
of baseball part of the FNB Baseball Classic they have here.
But that's not the end of games. Basically, it's two

(19:07):
games a night during the week throughout the season.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
And we'll be back here next Thursday with the Chillicothe
Cavaliers again facing new Waiverley Tigers, and that'll be a
five pm start.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
It should be a fun one. First pitch here a
strike into Jaron Wilson the first basement two for his
first four this year's a runner at first. Nobody out
after the hit by pitch to start it here at
the bottom of the second for Zane Trace from the stretch.
Scales kicks fires, runner goes it's up and in and
it got a.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
Piece of them.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
So another hit batter.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
That's four the last five.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
So Payne, who took off on the pitch, gets second
base anyway because of the hit by pitch, probably thinking
many cost me a stolen base there. Yep, had a
great jump on it. Now Tom Barr, the head coach
of the Chilicothy Cavaliers, out of the third base dugout
making his way out to the mound.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
It's going to be a solo conversation here, no other
players coming to join him. You wave to catch her back,
and it's just going to be a one on one
conversation here to settle him down.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
This is how it used to always be. You know,
the coach, manager, whatever, comes out to have a chat
with the picture and it's just those two in the mount.
And then all of a sudden, the catchers started always
coming out, and every now and then you'll see everybody
from the infield. They need to talk some strategy or
something like that, but maybe just something mechanical there that

(20:35):
coach Barr is trying to settle Eiden Scales down after
hitting a few batters.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
And again, this is probably the first game they've had
under lights here this year. It's an adjustment.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Noah Kaiser digs in with runners at first and second,
nobody out in a scoreless game here in the second
squares the bunch bounce it back toward the pitcher. Scales
has it in front of the mound, throws why to
first and it pulls Harris off the bag and the
bases are lowd with nobody out.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
Really nice job there of getting that bunt down, and
you know, after a conversation making the picture make a
play here and looks like they're going to call him
out at first base.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Interesting. Ron Allen, the head coach for a sane Trace,
wants to have a conversation with the homepolint umpire.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
And making the runners go back as well.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
The only thing I could think is they're saying that
he was not in the runner's lane, which would be
a bizarre thing to see happen almost never see it.
Looks that's got to be it's one hundred percent of
they're calling obstruction saying that he was not in the
runner's lane. I believe the out just goes to the

(21:50):
like technically the putout just goes three on assistant to
the first basement. So one out runners at first and
second the way. That changes things quite a bit, sure does. Now.
We could hear coach Allen saying, you know that applies
when the ball, you know, catcher is trying to throw
it straight up the line to first base, not when
it's being thrown from in front of the pitcher's moud
because you're not at an angle where you would interfere

(22:12):
with anything.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Yeah, there was no interference there, So I'm that's just
a baffling call.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
All down low here, one to Oh to Jacob stuff
or the right fielder, and the other point to Bake
and a lot of coaches. Well, the base is in
fair territory, so at some point you have to get
over there to touch the base ball up and in.
It was famously called in the World Series a while
back with the Astros and high school baseball nos safety base.

(22:42):
Here it's changed. In the college game they have that
safety base and foul ground. Two ozero pitch strike on
the outside corner called makes it two to one, Blake
paying it second. Jaron Wilson at first base with one out,
bottom of the second inning, no score. We haven't had
a hit yet in this game. One and that's in
for a strike two and two. In fact, four base

(23:05):
runners thus far for Zane Trace, they've all been hit
by pitches.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
Yet. A really good job of coming back here by
the pitchers. Scales.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
I was swinging a mess and a big strikeout for
out number two. As staffer goes down swinging and out
back to the top of the order. For the Pioneers,
Mason Hartley will dig in with two on and two down.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Yeah, that goes back to the mountain visit there by
Coach Barr settling down eighting the Scales here on the mountain.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Party grounded out to second base his first time up,
takes upstairs for a ball. Look back to second base.
Here's the one to zero from the right handed. Scales
kicks fires and a strike called on the inside corner,

(23:59):
not where the cat was set up, so he had
to slide over to his left. Still got the call.
One and one a pitch and the one chopped back
toward the third base dugout one ball, two strikes, so
Scales in company one strike away from getting out of

(24:22):
a jam. After the first two batters were hit by
a pitch, slightly open stance for Hartley from the right side,
and time asked for and granted at the plate. Hartley
steps out, resets one, two pitch, ground balled a third,

(24:47):
two bounces off the turf glove by a ball, and
oh step on third for the force play and zaan
trace unable to cash in on two free base runners
to start the inning. We're through two here at the VA.
No score between Chillicota Insane Trace. This is high school
baseball ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 10 (25:04):
I'm Mini Driver and in my new podcast, Mini Questions,
I explore our differences and our similarities by asking experts
and trailblazers the same seven questions, questions about what makes
us happy, what we're curious.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
About, and what love means to us.

Speaker 10 (25:20):
This season, I'll be speaking with the brilliantly talented actor
Viola Davis, Epic four fives front man Dave grow and
investigative reporter ronand Farrett. Listen to many questions on the
iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
Ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Ron Allen's still frustrated about that call, and it's a
legitimate it's a legitimate beef. The conversation maybe to have
after the game with the umpiring crew here. Sometimes they
go your way, sometimes they don't. It was a tough
call because Saint Trace had runners at first and second
with nobody out. Looked like the bases were going to

(26:05):
be loaded with nobody out. After they were the Cavaliers
were unable to make a good throw to first base
and then they called him out. Presumably the only thing
that makes sense with what happened in the conversations that
have been going on that the runner was out of
the running lane and obstructed the throw getting to first base.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
So instead of basic yeah, instead of basis loaded nobody out,
you had first and second with one out, and you
get a strike out on the groundout inding over no score.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Oarve you. I mean there there was just no obstruction.
I just don't see how that was a legitimate call.
But nonetheless, some of.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
You'll get some of those go your way throughout the year. Two.
First pitch here up and away, A ball to Rucker Daddy,
bottom third of the order here for Chillicothe round ball
here up the middle, right at second base and snagged
on a slide by the shortstop Stewart and shallows center,
but no chance to make a play, and Rucker Deddy
has the first hit. He is the first base runner

(27:04):
of the game for Chillicothie on the infield single.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Yeah, that's only the second contact that they've been able
to get off of the picture for Zane Trace Pierce Manson.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
That struck out five of the first six here's a
good bun off the third base line. The catcher picks
it up, throws the first knot in time, and that
is a bug base hit for Levi Moss.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
The bottom of the order coming through here for Chillicothy.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
So the seven and eight hitters get themselves aboard and
the Cavaliers in business. Oh they bringing them back? Did
they call him out for some reason? Wow, it's another
runner lane issue.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (27:58):
What in the world. So they're gonna call Moss out
and send Debdi back to first base, and now there's
one out. I've done a lot of baseball alto I've
ever seen it twice.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
In one game, twice in what within five minutes?

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Yeah, first pitch you're in for a strike. That is bizarre.
So a runner at first one out, Oh, one pitch,
one on fisted towards first cot in the air by
Wilson and a race back to the bag. The runner
able to scoop back in time. So the little fly

(28:34):
out there by Walker, thrown and out back to the
top of the order is Shon. Brown will step in
with the runner at first two downs. Don't know score,
you're at the top of the third basketball here misses
outside Brown struck out looking to start the ballgame for

(28:56):
one tonight one of them, and therefore a called strike.
And now the one to one skips past the catcher
to the backstop, and that'll send Rucker Daddy to second

(29:18):
on the wild pitch.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
It's their first runner and score scoring position.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
For Pilicoti to out opportunity here in the top of
the third of the scoreless game. Here's the two to
one pitch, and that is a high strike. Two and two.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Tell you what he's been able to hit all spots
of that zone tonight.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
The pitch outside here in a full count. Now to
isean Brown with a runner at second and two down,
no score. Top of the third, seller Coati at the
plate pitch, Brown swings and missus strike three at strikeout
number six for Pierce Manson strands at Chillicothi runner at

(30:07):
second base. We are through two and a half no
score between Chilcoty and Zane Traces. Is high school Baseball

Speaker 2 (30:54):
Bottom of the third inning here at VA Memorial Stadium,
no score between Chillicothe and Zane Trade. Jacob Wise with
you along with Lou Postage. Sidney Newsome back in the
studio producing tonight. Glad to have you with us for
a little Friday night.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Baseball feels like a summer evening too.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
Last two days, I mean, eighty and sunny yesterday, seventy five.
Little overcast today, but got the humidity today. Yeah, yesterday
couldn't have been better.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
I'll tell you when after our game I went home
and set on that back porch, nice little breeze going,
and it was. It was very pleasant, perfect night for it.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Quentin Allen will lead off here for Zane Trace, left
handed batter struck out back in the first inning, swings
the first pitch, you're a one hopper back to the mountain.
Scales able to glove it, takes it halfway and flips
the first for out number one. So Alan taps out
one three for the first out here on the home
half of the third.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Yeah, going back to you know, he has really done
a great job Aiden Scales. He hit four out of
five batters. Coach bar goes out there and gives them
a little talk into and he's come back here with
three straight good batters.

Speaker 2 (32:05):
First pitch here inside a ball to Gunner McCullough, just
the one hit so far between the two on the
Zane trace, or rather the Chilicotie side of the scoreboard.
Eric got me ball outside here in two and zero.
I was choking with H. Brian Wicklin during the first

(32:27):
game because Logan Elm and Westball both were wearing their
home white jerseys and pants. So swinging a miss to
make it two and one, I said, well, maybe next
year you're gonna have to tell teams bring to bring
two jerseys. Fortunately, baseball is one of those sports it
doesn't really matter to to one pitch down and end

(32:48):
three balls in a strike here to Gunner McCullough, who
was the first hit by a pitch with two outs
back in the first inning, three to one, and that
one up and in ball four, so a one out
base runner on the walk, and Lucas Euler, who was

(33:08):
hit by a pitch back in the first inning, we'll
get his second trip to the plate, still no score.
Bottom of the third and Saint Trace with a runner
at first base and one down.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
See if they try to get things going here and
maybe put the runner in motion.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
First offering here upstairs Harris, a right handed first baseman
holding the runner on over there at first base, so
you kind of play it to the back and the
foul ground side of the bag, you kind of straddle
that back so you can make a quick tag if
you get a throw over one oh, offering runner does

(33:56):
go pitches high, throw down at second base is not
in time, and Gunner McCullough picks up his fourth steal
of the year, and the Pioneers with the runner into
scoring position with one out, two balls, no strikes to
Lucas Oiler, and now we look to add onto his

(34:17):
three RBIs so far this year two to zero, stood
up high.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Tell you what those not even a breath of air
moving out there. I'm looking out there as those flags.
You can barely see him move a little.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Different than yesterday, huh. I think they were going to
rip off the pole now, much more summary, even though
it's a little cooler tonight, the humidity and the kind
of stagnant air. Three to zero pitch misses up and away,
So back to back walks here with one down in
Sant Trace runners at first and second as Grady Stewart

(35:04):
will dig in a strikeout victim back in the first inning,
came up with two on and two down to the
first and was unable to put one in play. It's
a second chance out of here. The pitch, first pitch,

(35:25):
swinging fly ball towards left center field. It will get down.
It's going to go all the way to the wall.
The color around third will score easily on his heels.
Who's oiler? He will score on his way to third
and sliding in with a two run triple is Grady's
Stewart and Saint Trace takes a two to nothing lead
here at the bottom of the third.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Yeah, and I was talking about that yesterday. You get
in the gaps here and it rolls all the way
to the fence. That's a long way. We saw how
many triples yesterday?

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Four I think a four hit by Margaretta alone. So
RBI's five and six on the year for Lady Stewart.
He picks up his second triple of the year and
the first hit of the game for Zaane Trace leads
to two runs. First pitch here to Blake Payne upstairs.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
The ball, Yeah, he really saw that first pitch, liked
it and took it smart.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
You see back to back walks. You know he's going
to try to get a first pitch strike, jump on
it off speed. Here drops in for his strike one
and one to Blake Payin, who was hit by a
pitch back in the second inning. You just need to
put a ball in play to get home of that
runner from third pitch upstairs here makes it two and one. Already,

(36:42):
go ahead, I'm gonna say already. RB guy's thirty and
thirty one for saying Trace as a team just playing
early in their fourth game, swinging a bass here two
and two.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yeah, I was just thinking, you know, it left the
up there. Maybe a little drag bunt down the first
base line, but not with two strikes.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Now, don't want the strikeout. Here's the two to two
outside good eye there, full count. Now do you get
to two strikes in a situation like this? A lot
of times as a hitter, you're just just put a
ball in play somewhere, get that runner home from third,
make a productive out at the worst. Again, like most

(37:18):
things in baseball, easier said they're done. I've switched it
back to two and two. Here's the pitch up and
in and that is ball four. So a third walk
here of the inning and now runners on the corners
for Zane Trace with one down, two nothing Pioneers, and

(37:39):
the dugout on the third base side for Chillicothe starting
to stir here.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Play call out there with the runner first and third.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Jaron Wilson o bat. He was hit by a pitch
last time up first pitch from Scales, chop toward third
or go foul.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Tell you what you feel like the way Pierce Manson
is throwing the ball here. Two runs may be enough,
but be nice to get another insurance run if you're
Zane Trace.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Oh one, yeah, strike on the outside corner here, Saint
Trace trying to get back to even on the season
one and two. Their two losses are by a total
of two runs three two or other three runs three
two and three one or two losses. Here's a little
flare toward right field second basement. Moss out to catch it,

(38:51):
flips back to first for the double play, paying off
of first base. I think thought that was going to
sneak into right field and the Cavaliers able to limit
the damage. But Saint Trace scores two on a two
run triple by Grady Stewart, taking advantage of a couple
of walks, and after three it is Saint Tray's two.
Chilicothe nothing. This is high school baseball in ninety four country. Wkkja.

Speaker 11 (39:14):
Hey, it's comedian NICKI Glazer. I can't I can't wait

Speaker 5 (39:44):
The Scioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Back here at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. This
is the fourth inning, top of the fourth inning. Right
now we have the Zane Trace Pioneers up to nothing
on the Chillicot the Cavaliers as they come to a
bat here in the top of the fourth it'll be
Jaden Gallagher, Tay Harris, and James Wrinkle up for the Cavaliers.

(40:16):
And right now Pierce Manson is just cruising right now.
As far as the pitcher, I think we ended up
six strikeouts so far here in the first three innings
for mister Manson, just.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
One over the minimum through the first three innings.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
First pitch foult Off hit the catcher there.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Too, struck out what five of the first six. He
got another strikeout in the last inning.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
And Jaden Gallagher was a strikeout victim there in the
first inning for the Cavaliers. Getting ready here for the
second pitch. As the umpire gets ready, that's a cold strike.
I think the umpire might have got hit there on
that one too. He had to readjust his equipment a
little bit ohen two here on Jaden Gallagher, little inside.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
There was an older umpire in the Frontier League that
we used to take bets on before the game amongst
us in the press box of which inning he was
going to get hit by a foul ball?

Speaker 3 (41:22):
Oh, down the third base line, past the third baseman,
Gallagher on his horse, He's going to be held to
a long single. It was a great job out there
by Mason, Hartley and left field to get to that quickly.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Now usually they sneak inside the third base bag like that,
they're down the line and into the corner, and Hartley
got there in a hurry. Looked like too easy off
the bat, but Hartley kind of playing that way.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
This says Tay Harris, stepping in grounded out the second
base his first time up tonight.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
That umpire, by the way, his name was Tony Lapina,
and he knew it was going on. And when he
got hit, he had waved to the press box.

Speaker 3 (42:05):
That is a fall. So count even now one in
one in top of the fourth innings, ain't trace leads
to nothing, Zane Trace. I don't know what's going on here.
The batter taking his time getting back in here, James
Wrinkle or no, I'm sorry, Tay Harris.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Zane trace with one hit to Chillicothi's two. But with
a two nothing lead.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
The one to one pitch swung on and missed. We
get a foul ball on that one. I believe he
called foul ball, so the runner will be going back
to first basis he had taken off on the pitch.
Count now one and two.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
So it's a three number call out by the Chillicothy
dugout and Tay Harris is not wearing his wristband. He
has to step out, pull it out of his back pocket.
See what the call is? Readjust his this shoe could
not doing that MLB. You could not do this in
college baseball. Absolutely, Now you're not allowed to leave the box.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
All right, here we go. Maybe they're just trying to
slow down Manson here on his pitching because he is ready.
Runner goes ball bobbled there at the plate and he's
stolen base there by Jayden Gallagher third of the year.
Two and two. The count on the banner runner and

(43:41):
scoring position. Now for to the god. We got a
time out by Harris, so.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
He's going to retie his shoe.

Speaker 12 (43:47):
No.

Speaker 2 (43:48):
Mark Garciapara comes to mind the old Boston Red Sox shortstop.
He'd step out and readjust his batting gloves and it's
like a human rein delay.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
But you can see the picture. He's kind of thrown
off by this. He goes back, talks to his middle windfielders.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
It's a good spot here though, with that stolen base.
Now you can score a run without a hit as
long as they're productive outs.

Speaker 3 (44:14):
Two and two. Here's the pitch fouled off down the
first base line.

Speaker 2 (44:21):
He tried to call time out again before that pitch came.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
And he stepped out again to readjust some of his
equipment to wonder if the umpire is going to let
this continue on.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
So he was too late with his request last time,
and the umpire didn't give it to him. He had
to jump back make sure he was ready to hit
it will foil it off.

Speaker 3 (44:38):
Yeah, this is definitely trying to slow the pitcher down here.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
Veteran move. You didn't get away with it to too.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
A little high delayed steal down the third and he's
going to be safe. Catcher caught off guard a little
bit there and uh, two steals here for Jaden. Now
he's in scoring position with only one out or nobody out.

Speaker 2 (45:01):
I think oiler down at third was surprised too, didn't
go initially, kind of snuck in there.

Speaker 3 (45:08):
Tay Harris steps out of the box again. But even
the crowd is trying to get into.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
This and some of the Pioneer fans not happy.

Speaker 3 (45:19):
And it gets called on strike three on the outside
corner is Tay Harris. That's the first out at the ending.
Now coming up for chick out the Cavaliers. James Wrinkle,
you have to wonder too.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
You know you're there. You're trying to break up the
rhythm of the picture, but it can also at a
point break up your rhythm as a hitter. All those stepouts.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
Nice bunt pitcher tried to get it and feel it.
Not it's going to be a run for the chick
out of the Cavaliers. A nice bunter there. Got a
high bounce off of that bunt and made it a
little bit more difficult for the picture and he tried
to bare hand it to the catcher and just couldn't
get it done. So uh sacrifice thereby James Wrinkle, the.

Speaker 2 (46:06):
Old butt RBI from the cleanup hitter. See that all
the time, right, you'll take it.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
I don't think I don't think there's very many number
four whole hitters in the major leagues that are doing
some button It takes off front, first down, the second
to throw is a little off to the second or
first base side. It's gonna be a stolen base for
James Wrinkle, another guy in the scoring position here for

(46:37):
Chillicothy in the top of the fourth batter here for
Chillicothy is Connor Bolin. The third baseman manson another bunt try.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
Ain't has had some issue fielding the bunt and getting
the outs early in the season. I'm sure Chillicothe is aware.
When you're having a hard time swinging and putting it
in play, it's not a bad option.

Speaker 3 (47:17):
Runner going pop up to the second baseman. He makes
the catch and the runner gets back to second base.
The second out there for Chillicothy, and.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
He took off just barely got back to second base,
didn't get doubled off. Get Scales a chance here to
drive one in tie this up.

Speaker 3 (47:41):
So the pitcher trying to help himself out here is
Hayden Scales comes to bat with two outs here in
the top of the fourth inning. Runner and scoring position
that is Connor Bullen or No. I'm sorry. That's James
Rinkle out there at second man in the pitch low

(48:03):
in the dirt stop by the catcher. Again, all looks
like all the players have their number thing in their
back pocket. As Scales backs out and looks at his pitch, Manson,
that's going to be low.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
It's one of those big ones you see like quarterbacks,
where so may not be something very comfortable. Oh, they
run him up on the check swing from second.

Speaker 3 (48:35):
Base one on one.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
That is I don't see that very often. Yeah, it's
different when you're standing behind first base you get a
good look down the line.

Speaker 3 (48:49):
Is that the catcher they called for that? I didn't
hear anybody from the dungout, So good job there by
Alan the catcher for Zane Trace, I'll tip brings account
one and two.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
That might be the best swing from a Chillicothe player
we've seen so far tonight. A good hack. He is
right on the fastball out, it's straight back. Just missed.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
One in two, two outs here in the top of
the fourth inning, two to one to score z In Trace.
He called for time, better, called for time and steps out.
You can see this. It is affecting Manson out on
our own found. Nice shot past the third baseman out

(49:40):
to left field. Here comes a runner around third to
home and ball gets by the catcher. Score tie ball.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
Game here.

Speaker 3 (49:50):
Again, great job of hitting there by Aiden Scales, so
give him a single RBI and he gets down to
second base on the pass ball by the catcher.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
I wonder if they'll give an error. Looks like they
already did. I didn't know he was going to maybe
go to second anyway on the throw home, but just
a really good two strake swing and it wasn't the
full swing. It was a tomahawk chop trying to pound
that thing into the ground, and he's stuck it right

(50:23):
past the third basement for a big two out RBI. Hit.

Speaker 3 (50:27):
Pincher runner out there for the picture, I believe. As
Chillicothy calls time out, that is going to be number
one for the Cavaliers. You got that can't find my roster?

Speaker 2 (50:39):
A Mason Jacobson, A.

Speaker 3 (50:40):
Though sophomore Mason Jacobson now out running at second base
as number sixteen Rucker Daddy comes to bat for Chilicothy.
Deddy had a base hit the first time up first
Chillicothe base hit of the night. That's a foul ball.

(51:09):
Oh and two quickly on Deddy.

Speaker 2 (51:14):
Here the Chilicothee dugout having some fun. And hey, he's
a freshman. Just so you know, I feel pretty good
about the rocker Deddy as a baseball player as a freshman.
Doesn't he doesn't look like he's got some pretty good
size out there.

Speaker 3 (51:30):
Yeah, they got two freshmen in the starting line up
here tonight. Foul ball at the plates stays alive. And
as you was saying, you were talking to a coach
Barr about how young they are and how much they
improved in just a month from getting started with practice,

(51:51):
and the pitch by Manson, foul ball off to the
third base side.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
It's a funny. It's a funny thing, Louie. You get
better at baseball by playing baseball.

Speaker 3 (52:00):
That's it, and it is. I mean, it's a tough transition.
A lot of people going from a basketball or wrestling
or something and then going outside and oh, that's going
to be a strikeout. Good pitch there by Manson. So again,
two runs in the inning for Chillicati is a tie
it up. Leave one on base after four and a

(52:21):
half or three and a half, it is two to
two here at Va Memorial Stadium. You're listing to high
school baseball on ninety four Country WKKJ one over ninety two,
one eighty over one eleven.

Speaker 2 (52:35):
I had a heart attack and a cardiac arrest and
then a stroke.

Speaker 13 (52:56):
Brought you by the American Heart Association American Medical Association.

Speaker 5 (52:59):
In the ant ninety four Country KKJ, the Scioto Valley's
home for today's country.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
Back here at Via Memorial Stadium, where now it is
a tie, score two to two. Here in the night
cap of this Friday, April third, feels like July third,
but we will not complain one bit.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
Seems like there should be some fireworks after the game tonight.

Speaker 3 (53:32):
As we come to bat, as Ze Trace comes to
bat here in the bottom of the fourth inning, it's
going to be Noah Kaiser leading off the bottom of
the fourth Noah, he was. I believe he was the
one that started in that whole bunt runner interference fiasco
we had back there in the second inning, but one.

Speaker 2 (53:55):
In the next inning had to be a makeup call.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
There's kaiser foul on the first base line.

Speaker 2 (54:02):
It was just too odd. It just felt like, well,
I did it to them. We got to get them
with one. And the difference is that the situation in
the game that it happened was not equal.

Speaker 3 (54:11):
Yeah, the one pitch called a strike. Guys are in
oh here h and two and Scales has done a
wonderful job ever since Bar went out there to talk
to him. I think he's really settled down so big
key in the game. There he get hit.

Speaker 2 (54:30):
I went over his head that one. As soon as
he let it go. He knew he'd let it go early.

Speaker 3 (54:37):
Noah tried to sell that one, but it's gonna be
one and two's good effort. Another foul down the first
base line. Man had people scrambling down there. Hit the bleacher. Fortunately,
no one.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
Sometimes when the ball kind of whizzers by your head
like that, you can hear it through your ear holes
and it can make you feel like maybe it grazed.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
You one two pitch here to Kaiser, I'm just low
two and two now as we lead off the bottom
of the fourth any kind of nice to see the
leaves coming in those trees out there now too. Kaiser

(55:21):
down to the third base when Bobble comes up, throws
and in time to get Kaiser running down the first
base line. So a good job there by.

Speaker 2 (55:30):
Bowling got a really nice job not panicking as he
kind of had a hard time corralling that ball at first.
He's able to knock it down and then didn't panic,
picked up it looked like where the runner was, and
then realized he had time to set and make a
good throw for the out.

Speaker 3 (55:44):
Yeah, unfortunately again you got a nice hop right up
back up to him off of this field. Turf up
now for Zane tra said Jacob Stauffer. He swings at
the first one and missus stopfer was a strikeout victim
there in the second inning. Looks to Bunt he stayed

(56:08):
with it, and they're gonna call that, uh foul tip
two now.

Speaker 2 (56:12):
And it chased that one way down in the end.
And you hear coaches all the time saynt strikes times
you square, then it's hard to lay off you feel
committed to go after it.

Speaker 3 (56:22):
The O two pitch by Scales, foul ball down the
uh or back to the backstop there where you see
are a field mic down there almost close to that.
The O two pitch from Scales up high one and two.
Now stoffer the right fielder another high pitch two and two.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
And just missing the release point there. And such a
fine difference between you know the ball, especially if you're
trying to throw a breaking ball, the ball going over
the player's head or being in the strike zone where
you want it.

Speaker 3 (57:14):
Nice pitch there for the strikeout for Scales, second out
of the inning. We go back to the top of
the order here with Mason Hartley.

Speaker 2 (57:25):
Fourth strikeout for eight in Scales trying to work a
clean inning here. He hasn't had a one two three inning,
but he has the first two retired here in this one.

Speaker 3 (57:35):
Part leoh and two on the night ground. It into
a fielder's choice. His last time up pitch high ball one,
the one to zero pitch attempt right back to the pitcher. Boy,

(57:56):
he got down the line quick, no throw by the
pitcher there. I'll tell you what. I was watching a
picture and I didn't even see that runner. And when
I looked up and saw him he was almost there.

Speaker 2 (58:05):
I was thinking, man, that's taking a long time. It
looked like off the bat it was going to be
one of those right back to the mouth. But it
just kind of died once I got out in front
of the plate and it just took way too long,
and Harley was booking it up the first base line.
So a nice bunt single there for a base runner
here with two down.

Speaker 3 (58:23):
Quintin Allen now at bat the catcher he's zero and
two and Hartley took off and again, probably shouldn't have
thrown that one, just the fact.

Speaker 2 (58:34):
That he got a great jump. He's quick junior out there.

Speaker 3 (58:46):
That was called strike there. I believe Owen won back
up the middle, short stop picks it, throw it first
in time for the third out of the inning. He's
a nice play there by Brown in the any one hit,
one runner left on base still after four innings. Now

(59:08):
score is Zane trace to Killicathy too. You're listening to
high school baseball on ninety four country wkkj oh, hey
you it's no cool.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
Top of the fifth inning here at VA Memorial Stadium.
Two two ball game, two runs, three hits, no errors
for the Chillicothe Cavaliers, to runs, two hits, one error
for these inane Trace Pioneers who now take the field.
Pierce Manson back out on the rubber, gave up both
runs on two hits and an error in the last inning.

(01:00:12):
Prior to that, had not given up much more than
just one hit and a couple of base runners. Bunch
of strikeouts for him so far he has seven, which
is a season high for him at six in his
first outing against Delaware Hayes to start the year, and
got off to a really good start tonight and then
all of a sudden Chilicothy said, Hey, we're gonna slow

(01:00:34):
things down a little bit and make you wait between pitches.
He very much wants to get the ball and go
and go and go and not really take any time.

Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Yeah, that last halpening for Chilicothy, that was a noticeable
taking their time stepping out of the box. And you
could tell that Manson was shaking up a little bit
over that. And again he's gotta, you know, keep your
head about Drew. You've done a great job to this point.
You can't let things like that affect you.

Speaker 2 (01:01:02):
So a two two ball game as we go to
the fifth eight, nine and one for CHILICOTHI here Levi
Moss walker throne and is Shaun Brown so far tonight,
Levi Moss, Oh, for one, he was the one that
was kind of called out on the running out of

(01:01:24):
the runners lane. He takes a wide strike here as
he pulled back the bunt That was very much felt
like a a balancing out call from the one in
the previous half inning. Oh one swing in the midst
of a breaking ball down it's quickly oh and two
to Levi Moss. Come when we'll be back again on Thursday.

(01:01:49):
And the next three Thursdays with some high school baseball
for you. As we moved throughout the month of April.
Two pitch drike three called got him on the inside corners,
strike out numbers seven for Pierce Manson.

Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
Yeah. When he gets on a roll and he's able
to just catch and throw, he is phenomenal. And Tilly
Kathy has noticed that. So they're trying. They've got to
try to get him off pace again.

Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
So here's the other freshmen we were talking about. Walker thrown,
bunts it right back to the mound, off the front edge.
Manson up with it, throws the first stand. There's a
quick second out.

Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Tell you what I was noticing thrown As he was
running down there, he was wasn't sure which line to run.
I think that's sort of making the runners think about that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
But you don't have that line at most high school fields,
that secondary line that starts about halfway up the first
base line. Manson fires here outside the ball back to
the top of the order is Sean Brown digs an
over two is gone down swinging and gone down looking
in his two trips so far. And I'm out here

(01:03:00):
as a ball escapes the Chillicothie bullpen in the left
field corner. That's the one that usually gets you because
if it gets by the catcher, it hits that part
of the deck that sticks out and angles it right
into the left field one. Oh, slinging a miss.

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
Few people down there in the party deck here tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
Nice room down there to move around. You see some
little ones out there. One one outside the ball two
two ball game, top of the fifth inning, nobody on,
two down for Chillicothe. Here's the two to one from
Manson and it's low and away. So now three balls
in a strike to is Sean Brown. Manson has not

(01:03:44):
walked a batter in this game. Here's the three to
one pitch and that one is right down Broadway for
strike too. Full count here Ranson into the wine fires.
This one popped up ground first base side over is
Wilson from first, but runs out of room, and that
one actually lands back and.

Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
They hit off the roof of the the bach first
base side, getting no one hurt.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
I'll say this, if you sit anywhere that's not behind
the net at any ballpark, especially here, pay attention. You're
right on top of it. Three to two pitch again,
that one's high ball four goes to the backstop as
Ishn Brown heads down at first on the first walk
issued by Pierce Manson tonight, and the Pioneers have a
two out base runner at a two to two ball

(01:04:35):
game here in the top of the fifth, all right,
I should say the Cavaliers have a two out base runner.

Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
And Gallagher comes to the play to eat single last time,
and I had a stolen base and scored a run.

Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
Started that two run rally for Chilicata to tie this game.
In the last inning, first pitch here misses off the
plate one to zero.

Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
Chill gotta you in that. Ain't he tried to do
a lot of running. We'll see if we don't see
Brown take off here.

Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
One stolen base on the year for him, one zero
runs inside. All of a sudden, here's Manson, a little
bit of control problems. No more daylight left. We are

(01:05:28):
at the mercy of the lights at this point. Here,
so swinging the ground ball left side shortstop toward the
whole backhands, Stuart has no play, has to put it
in the back pocket. It's an infield hit for a
Jaden Gallagher, who takes advantage of the shortstop breaking to
the bag because the runner had taken off on the
pitch and get it right to the spot he had vacated,

(01:05:49):
and Stuart a good job to get back to it
to stop it from the outfield, but unable to make
a play, so a walk in an infield hit now
and Cholicothia business with runners at first and second and
two down.

Speaker 3 (01:06:01):
Yeah, that was a great job there, putting the runner
in motion causing that to happen too.

Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Answered from the stretch fires high chopper to third leaping
effort knocking it down is oiler and he gets to
the back just in time for the first play. Two
in the inning, so Zaning Trace able to get out
of the little two out jam. Chillicothy, no runs, one hit,
no errors, two left through four and a half. It's
two two between Chillcothy and Zane Trace, says high school

The Scioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four Country
w KKJ.

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Eiden Scales back out to the mound for another inning
of work. So we start at the bottom half of
the fifth inning to two ball game. Sane Trace scoring
first with two runs in the bottom of the third,
Chillacathy with it's two runs in the top of the
fourth inning. So all the runs being scored basically within

(01:07:36):
one set of at bats if you will, within six outs, three, four,
five for Sant Trace, Gunner McCullough, Lucas Eyler, Grady Stewart,
do up here. McCulloch has been aboard twice. He's been
hit by a pitch and walked. He's also stolen a
base and scored in one of the two runs for

(01:07:57):
Saint Trace. Tonight takes a pitch upstairs ball two runs,
four hits, no errors for Chili Coffee two two and
one for Sane Trace. Scales back up on the rubber
covers his face with his glove, kicks fires, and he's
swinging a mess all even things up at A ball
and a strike.

Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
That was a big swinging there by Gunner McCullough.

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Swing hard in case you hit it. Here's the one
one that one runs inside. Almost got a piece of
Gunner's Two balls and a strike here a pitch pump
it in now three and one sane Tracy has had

(01:08:46):
a lot of base runners, but they've only had the
leadoff man on once and that was a hit batter
back in the second inning and an inning in which
they did not score.

Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
Catcher goes out the top to scales make sure they're
on the same page.

Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
Here John parks the catcher to make sure we say
his name. He's the designated fielder for Chillicothee in this one,
being DHD four on the offensive side of things, and
on one of the fun wrinkles of high school baseball.
You can DH for anybody, right. Yeah, here's the three
to one upstairs ball four and it is a leadoff

(01:09:22):
walk and Gunner McCullough has been put aboard now all
three times he's come to the plate, So a hit
by pitch and two walks. Saint Trace in a two
to two ball game. Here in the fifth has the
leadoff man on.

Speaker 3 (01:09:35):
Yeah, last time he walked got things started for Zane Trace.
There are two runs there in the third.

Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
Indie Lucas Eiler digs in hit by a pitch and
a walk, and it were un scored on his line
today swings and misses at the first pitch.

Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
That was a late swing thereby what.

Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
Scales a check over at first base turns and flips
it over there and Zane Trace trying to say that
was a bulk.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
At least put the thought out there.

Speaker 2 (01:10:18):
Yep, get I'm thinking about it. Runner goes here this
when swung out, he skied into deep left center field.
Rink Ale on the run has a room, makes the catch,
tagging on back to first base. As McCullough had made
it all the way at his second he took off
on the pitch, cats you out by Rinkle to run
that one down in the left center as Oiler flies
out for our number one and our runner at first

(01:10:39):
one down for Grady Stewart, who hit the two run
triple back in the third. That has accounted for all
of the Zane Trace offense. So far in this ball game.

Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
Yeah, Rinkle had a great jump on that ball, and
uh it was hit well, but that jump caused him
to get there in time.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
First offering here from Scales is up and away a ball.

Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Center fielders shading over to the left center field gap
where Grady hit that last.

Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
One, middle infield, looking for a double play ball. Third
baseman Connor Boland, playing even with the bag at third,
turning a lob over to first base. McCullough back standing
up really with first and third basement, kind of playing
close to the lines in the middle infield and double

(01:11:33):
play gap at the edge of the right and left
side of the infield. It's got some pretty big holes
in it. As he founds this one out over the
right side and out of play. So Grady Stewart now
with three hits on the ear, two of them for triples.

(01:11:53):
Now they check over to first base, trying to keep
Gunner close.

Speaker 3 (01:11:56):
We know he can run, yeah he can, but you
know he doesn't have a great over there. That's a thing.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
You had a stolen base back of the third inning.
Two Here he goes from first, pitches low and Park's
unable to get a throw off as mccolla picks up
his second steal of the night and a runner into
scoring position with one out and a one to two

(01:12:21):
County here for Grady's Stewart. I'm gonna add onto already
a two RBI night, up to six on the year,
and time asked for and called out the plate. Scales
was preoccupied a bit with the runner at second.

Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
Yeah, he's definitely concerned about mccallaugh there on debates paths.

Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
Back up on the rubber. Here's the two to one pitch,
and had a strike called on the inside corner as
Stuart kind of started to bail out there a little bit,
thought it was inside. Came back over the plate and
now two and two from the belt. Scales, I look

(01:13:09):
back to second. The two to two pitches one going
to have missed. The breaking ball got him for out
number two, strikeout number five for the Chillicothe right hander
Eighten Scales, and two down with that runner at second
base for Blake Payne, who has been hit by a
pitch and walked in his two plate appearances so far.

(01:13:31):
Tonight RBI spot here to try to put Zane Trace
back in front. Two two ball.

Speaker 3 (01:13:35):
Game, great Pitcherer by scales get that strike out by
the way.

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
First one here misses up in a way and trying
for the second time in this game after putting a
runner on to start the inning to strand that runner
out there one zero pitch miss down low good blocked
there by parks the catcher on a short hop.

Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
In Zaane Tracey has had at least one runner on
e to any.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
They've left a runner in scoring position in each inning
so far through the first four. They've got another one
out there with two outs here in the fifth two
to zero ground ball, hard hit, but right at the
second basement Gloff there by Moss throws the first. They
have now left five runners in scoring position through five innings.

(01:14:29):
After five here at Chillicothe, till too too between the
Cavaliers and the Zaint Trace Pioneers. This is high school
baseball ninety four country WKKJ.

Speaker 3 (01:14:39):

Ninety four Country WKKJ, the Scioto Valley's home for today's country.

Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
Pierce Manson back out on the mound for a saying, Tracers,
we go to the sixth inning here at VA Memorial
Stadium in Chilacafee. Jacob Wise with you along with Loup Postage.
Sidney Newsom back in studio tonight. Glad to have you
with us. Another good ballgame here two days in a row.
We had a three to two game last night and
now two to two as we go to the sixth

(01:15:38):
and it's two teams kind of doing it in different ways.
Pierce Manson for a sane Trace has been a little
bit cleaner in the innings that he's worked tonight than
Aiden Scales, but the result is the same. Scales has
done a phenomenal job of working around some base runners.

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
Now we got Manson with ninety strikeouts, I believe on
the night only one walk and giving up four runs
or four hits.

Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
Nine strikeouts through five innings. He'll take that middle third
of the order. James Wrinkle will lead off for Chillicothee.
Brought home they run back of the fourth inning on
a sacrifice fielders choice situation. Takes the first one here
outside a ball, so officially zero for one Tonight is Wrinkle,

(01:16:29):
after his strikeout in the second inning, picked up his
fourth RBI have the year in the fourth takes a
strike on the outside corner one and one Wrinkle, then
Connor Bolan and Aiden Scales here on the top half
of the sixth inning one to one, swaying in abyss

(01:16:50):
big hack there from Wrinkle one and two. Chilicothee will
play next on Monday against McClain. I think that's their
first home game at their field. One two just missed
down low.

Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
Yeah, the crowd wonted that.

Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
One two two swinging a miss strike out number ten
for a Pierce Manson second time he's gotten Wrinkles swinging
and one out here in the sixth inning for Connor Bolan,

(01:17:31):
who is O for too, a strikeout and a pop
up to second. Chillicothy started off the year a ten
tohing five inning loss to Dublin Jerome and then turned
around and got a five inning run roll win over
aDNA thirteen to three. First offering here is swinging a
miss at a breaking ball down. And then last night Chillcothy,

(01:17:53):
with a tough seven to six win over piked in
on the road and tied it in a two to
two ball game. Here in the sixth inning with Zane
Tracer's another swinging a miss, another breaking ball down and
bowling down on the count nothing in two.

Speaker 3 (01:18:14):
Yeah, that lost to Dublin Jerome not you know, that's
a huge school up there in Columbus. And uh, nothing
to hang your head about on that one.

Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
O two pitch foul off toward the third base stug out.
We'll do it again at nothing and two. And that's
one where your coaching staff you look at it and say, well,
we'll see, we'll see where we're at real quick, and
then you just go up from there. Here's the O
two again. This one fouled off again, this time to
the right side out of play.

Speaker 3 (01:18:43):
Like we've got action down here in Chillicothey's bullpen. I
think I saw James Wrinkle running down there thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
Four two again swinging amiss drag three got it with
that breaking ball that he got got the first two
strikes on, So back to back k's for Pierce Manson
here in the top of the sixth inning and now
eleven for the Sane Trace right hander.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
Yeah, early in the game it was a lot of heat.
Now he's bringing in the breaking ball there and really
has them all balanced.

Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
That his wrinkle out there in the bullpen for chili coffee.
Here's Aiding Scales, the pitcher for the Cavaliers, and they
say he swung it a pitch down on the turf,
unable to check the swing and the one that missed

(01:19:47):
outside one one pitch, breaking ball catches the inside corner

(01:20:10):
one and two to Scales and an RBI hit in
the fourth one for two and he takes strike three.
Call to breaking ball their second time tonight. Pierce Manson
has struck out the side in order. We go to
the bottom of the sixth there in Chillicothy. Still two
two between Sane Trace and Chillicothy. This is high school
baseball on ninety four country.

Speaker 7 (01:20:31):

Ninety four Country WKKJ.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
Bottomly sixth inning here at Va Memorial Stadium is still
a two two ballgames. Sane Tray scored first with two
runs in the bottom of the third and then chill
Ocatty answered with two runs in the top half of
the fourth inning, and it has been that way since.
Saint Trace has left seven runners on base, five in
scoring position to this point. Chillocothy has only left four runners,

(01:21:32):
three of those in scoring position through six innings. Pierce
Manson with twelve strikeouts through six innings of work for
the Pioneers and eight in scales back out for a
sixth inning of work, trying to keep this a two
two ballgame.

Speaker 3 (01:21:46):
Yeah, and again he's been a work course out there
on the mound. He hasn't been easy on him, but
he's been able to persevere throughout the game.

Speaker 2 (01:21:58):
Bottom third of the order, Jaron Wilson. We'll lead off
for Zane Trace. Oh. For one, it was hit by
a pitch in the second, hit into a soft line
out double play at second base in the third, and
that kept Zane Trace from having a bigger inning than
their two run third. Steps in here on the left side,

(01:22:22):
Scales into the wind up. His first offering of the
inning is swung on and missed good pitch down in
the zone, one high chopper off the plate, back edge
of the mouth. Scales has it, has to throw quickly,

(01:22:44):
and he did not get it there in time. And
they say the first base when Tay Harris had to
come off the bag, Well, it's a close play. That's
the one we talk about where it's you just feel
helpless as a fielder waiting for that ball to come
back down to earth.

Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
We get a pinch runner down there on first.

Speaker 2 (01:23:05):
Base, Logan Lyle will go down and run.

Speaker 3 (01:23:09):
Yeah, you can tell the pictures just like, come on,
hurry up.

Speaker 2 (01:23:12):
I mean did everything he could. He got rid of
it quickly, made a good throw and I think that's
going to be an infield hit. And they have put
up a hit there. That's a real tough play. So
the leadoff man on here for sane trace. There's noa
Kaiser Dick sand Oh for one brought out to the
third last time up, Scales from the stretch deals bunt

(01:23:38):
up the third base line. It'll be the third basement
ball end. There's no play bun single for Kaiser runners
at first and second, nobody out.

Speaker 3 (01:23:48):
Yeah, that was an ideal bun. It just died down
there on the third base. Third baseman had to field,
and good job by the shortstop of covering third, or
else we would have sell that runner all the way
over on third base and the bar calls time out
as he goes out to the mountain.

Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
I think they were expecting the bunt the third basement
bowling was playing in and Scales got to it pretty quickly.
It's just a perfect bun, had a little bit of
backspin on it, so it's like a had an approach
shot with the with the wedge. It hits, hits and
just sticks and just really no chance to make any
kind of play on it. And it looks like that'll
be it on the mound for Aiden Scales, and so

(01:24:26):
the center fielder James Wrinkle will come on and pitch
for Chillicothe.

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
We're gonna see Harris go from first base to third base.

Speaker 2 (01:24:45):
This is always fun when it comes to the scoring.
So Wrinkle is gonna pitch. So that's five plus for
Scales so far has given up two runs. He's responsible
for both base runners on four hits. He struck out five.

Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
So Scales going down to first base. I thought I
saw the third baseman bling Bolan head out to center field.

Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
So Boland went to center field, Scales go to third.

Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
Yeah, the Scales went to first, Harris went to third.

Speaker 2 (01:25:31):
Okay, So Scales went to first.

Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
And Boland went to centerfield.

Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Okay, all right, So quickly, the outfield is now left
to right, Jaden Gallagher, Connor Bolan, Walker, Throne, and then
in the infield third to first, it's Tay Harris, Shawn Brown,
Levi Moss, Aden Scales, John Park's still catching, and the

(01:25:56):
pitcher is now the lefty, James Wrinkle. And we'll have
a pinch hitter here for Zane Trace as Preston Lane
is going to bat. We'll just get all this ups
at once.

Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
We had the press box scrambling up here as we
all helped each other out there, but Preston Lane was
a kicker on the football team in the fall.

Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
Wig thinks that John Bruce was always on top of it,
handling the music, the scoreboard, the pa here at the
ballpark and keeping score as at the same time. So
Lane will come on and bat. He on the season
so far is one for seven with two runs scored

(01:26:42):
and an RBI. Preston Lane, a junior, will dig in
with runners at first and second, nobody out in a
two two ball game. Here in the bottom of the
sixth inning.

Speaker 3 (01:26:55):
Yeah, big ap bat here, you want to get those
runners over.

Speaker 2 (01:27:00):
The left hander James Wrinkle kicks and fires a bunt,
good one toward the mount on the first base side.
Wrinkle up with it, throws the first ball by the
second baseman Moss who was over to cover, and Lyle
will come around and score, and a second runner coming
home as well as Kaiser scores from first base on
the bunt up to second. On the back end goes

(01:27:21):
Preston Lane and Saint Trace leads four two. Just disaster
was played well by Wrinkle, and I think it was
a good throw. But the second basement Moss coming over
to cover first base. I think he looked down to
see if his foot was on the back right as
the ball got there, hadn't secured the baseball yet, and
it got by him and that cost two runs.

Speaker 3 (01:27:45):
Yeah, that was a great bunt thereby present Laye. And
I was just getting ready to think. I thought maybe
a bunt would be in play here, and here's another
bunch is going to be fouled.

Speaker 2 (01:27:54):
Back popped it up back toward the backstop netting. Well,
I don't know that I've ever seen a sacrifice bunt
score two. One of the great things about baseball, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:28:08):
And again, wow, just the angle two of the pitcher
throwing the first base at just took off down that
right field line and it's a long way down there.

Speaker 2 (01:28:17):
I don't believe there will be any RBI is credited
on that. We error allowed the two to score. First
error on Chillicothe tonight. It's a costly one, as this
pitch runs in for a strike to Mason Hartley, nothing
in two to Hartley, with a runner at second, nobody
out and seeing trace now leading four to two in
the sixth, they are now three defensive outs away from

(01:28:40):
a win. Two pitch upstairs Hartley one for three in
this ball game, had a bunch single last time through.
I was also grounded out the second and hit into
a fielders choice at third one two, swinging a mess,

(01:29:04):
there's out number one, a big strikeout as Hartley goes down,
swinging first strikeout for Wrinkle. Wrinkle, making his second appearance
on the Mount. Does have a win two and a
third innings. It's not giving up an earned run. Four strikeouts,

(01:29:25):
now five with that one, here's left handed hitting catcher
Quinton Allen. Four tubes ain't trace in the bottom of
the sixth first pitch here a strike on the outside
corner and there lefty lefty matchup.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
Yeah, with all that confusion with changing positions, let me
go back to Scales. Did a great job tonight, I
thought on the Mount, really battling through a lot of
stuff and guts the effort.

Speaker 2 (01:29:49):
Absolutely oh one found out of play on the left side.
Five plus for Scales tonight. He's gonna get tagged with
four runs. How the rest is this inning shapes up?
Determine how many of those are earned? Right now two
of them are earned, two of them or not. Four hits,
five strikeouts, four walks, four hit batters, but really those

(01:30:12):
walks and hit batters he was able to work around.
Here's the two pitch, a swing in the miss at
a breaking ball running away from the lefty, and back
to back strikeouts for James Wrinkle, two big ones and
now two down for Gunner McCullough, who's been on base
three times tonight, two via the walk won by a
hit by pitch. He's stolen two bags and scored a

(01:30:35):
run and out a big RBI spot here to try
to give Zane Trace some insurance. Up four to two
in the sixth inning, Wrinkle fires breaking ball missed away,
Chilicothe scheduled to have the bottom third of their order
two up and the next half inning one to ohero

(01:31:02):
from Marinkle hill spin but not throw it a second.
Nobody at the bag is the runner? Lane went in
head first one oh swang and abyss.

Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
And Lane. I mean, what a great job coming in
pitch hitting and you know, just getting the ball and
play making something happen.

Speaker 2 (01:31:33):
There's a lot to be said for just putting it
in play, put the pressure on the defense to make
a play. Here's the one one swing, a miss another
good heater from the lefty, and now one ball, two
strikes the gunner McCullough two runs in for Zane Trace
in the inning to take a four to two lead.

(01:31:56):
Another one two pitch breaking ball skide into right center
fil should be playable for the new center fielder Bowlan
who makes the grab on the run and right center
to in the inning, so they limit the damage, but
the error on the play at first base allows two
runs to score and Zane Trace takes a four to
two lead into the seventh inning. Here in Chillicothy, this

(01:32:17):
is high school baseball. In ninety four Country WKKJA.

Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
All right to her die time here the Chilicothi Cavaliers
down four to two as we go to the top
of the seventh inning. Two big runs for Zane Trace,
cashing in on a couple of table setters, getting aboard
on an infield hit and a bun single and then
the sacrifice bunt in the play at first base that

(01:33:19):
was mishandled, ball got away. Two runs scored and right
now that is the difference. As Pierce Manson looks to
pick up his first win of the season, looking for
the complete game, has a two run cushion. He faces
the bottom third of the Cavaliers order, Rucker, Deddy, Levi,
Moss and Walker.

Speaker 3 (01:33:37):
Thrown and uh Manson coming off a one two three
inning in the six three strikeouts in that any.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
Daddy digs in one for two, a single and a
strikeout so far tonight takes strike one a DH batting
for the catcher John Parks oh one back door breaking
ball just missed Kevin Pickeroll the home point Umpire started
to kind of rise out of his stance there like

(01:34:13):
he was going to call a strike and then it
didn't come. One one pitch popped up out of play
on the left side one and two.

Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
Yeah, right now, if you're Chilli Cothy, you just gotta
try to put something in play and see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
One two pitch just missed on the outside edge, maybe
a bit low even said, had two balls and two strikes.
A pitch swinging a miss got him with the breaking
ball and Daddy down on strikes number thirteen for Pierce Manson.

(01:34:54):
Incredible effort from him.

Speaker 3 (01:34:55):
Tonight, strike out the last four Chili Cothy batters.

Speaker 2 (01:35:00):
He struck out five of the first six to start
the game. He's twice in this game struck out the
side in order. Levi I masticks in zero for two
with a strikeout.

Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
It's the first time the umpire is gonna give him
a warning on a quick pitch.

Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Then wait for the play call from the umpire. Batter
wasn't quite in the box and set and how time
called at the plate. Those ain't trace fans not real
happy about it.

Speaker 3 (01:35:39):
Little gamesmanship here.

Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
Yeah, smart all down low one and oh.

Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
As long as it's within the rules. Got to try
to do something to get the picture off his rhythm.

Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
And the umpires have said, this is fine. We're not
gonna not doing anything wrong. Pitch outside two and zero,
somebody else behind the plate, maybe they want to keep
things moving a little bit. But that's that's part of
the game. I mean, different personalities, different brains back there
behind the plate. You get something different every night. Here's

(01:36:17):
the two to zero, that one to call it strike
on the outside corner.

Speaker 3 (01:36:20):
And again, any sports, you got to adjust to how
the referees are calling in the game, whether it be football, basketball, baseball, softball, whatever,
two to.

Speaker 2 (01:36:29):
One square there to bun and he turned his body
all the way around, but the bat really kind of
stayed on the shoulder and the whole play, Umpire says
he did not offer at it. So three balls and
a strike to Levi Moss.

Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
And never he went down to first basement. I'm tired
to check.

Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
That basketball here in for a strike fills it up,
three and two to Levi Moss, nobody on one out
top of the seventh inning and Zane Trace leading four
to two looking for out number two. Both teams with
an error, both teams with four hits tonight, three two
pitch his ball four didn't miss by much and just

(01:37:15):
the second walk in the ballgame for Pierce Manson and Walker.
Thrown will get a chance to bat. Here with a
runner at first, one out and the Cavaliers trailing by two.
Walker tonight a soft lineout and a bunt that ended
in a ground out. First pitch down and away. Here

(01:37:38):
a ball Walker, I think plays every sport. That Chilicot
the offers, doesn't he seems that way we'll track field.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Yeah, only a freshman.

Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
One oh. Runner goes from first thrown out. His second
is wide and late, and Levi mossteels second base. That
is a risky maneuver there down two. That base runner
is important. But as as far as Zane Trace is concerned,
the base runner doesn't mean anything. You got a two
run lead. Here's the one one down and gets by

(01:38:17):
the catcher on his way to third, goes Levi Moss.
I think that one goes a pass ball, And I
believe the thinking is just trying to get a little
spark here and force Sane Trace into a mistake of

(01:38:38):
some sort. Now, the two to one pitch, there's a
strike called on the outside corner.

Speaker 3 (01:38:51):
Yeah right here. You gotta put the ball in play somewhere,
get make him make a play.

Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
Here, here's the two to two to walk her thrown
a swing and a miss strake out number fourteen for
Pierce Manson had out Chillacothe down to its final out.
Here in the top of the seventh, down four to
two to Saint Trace. Back to the top of the
order is Sean Brown will dig in for a fourth
time tonight over two couple of strikeouts. He walked last

(01:39:17):
time through takes outside. It was skip to the backstop
and in from third is Levi Moss to make it
a four to three game, and now the bases are empty.

Speaker 3 (01:39:30):
Leave that's going to be a wild pitch there. Well,
that erases the base pass here and Chillicothe cuts the lead.

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
To one one zero pitch in there for a strike.
In some ways, it's a pitcher that kind of makes
the inning something less. You have to think about. Here's
the one one and a check swing up and I'll
ask if he went around and the umpire at first
Anthony Sheets says he did not, so two balls and

(01:40:02):
a strike to Sean Brown nobody on two down top
of the seventh, four to three, the Zane Trace in
front two one, swinging a miss, and the Cavaliers down
to their final strike here two two swinging a miss,

(01:40:23):
strike three fifteen. K's for Pierce Manson and Zane Trace
hangs on to beat Chillicoffee four to three here at
Va Memorial Stadium, back in the moment. This is high
school baseball in ninety four country WKKJ.

But we didn't plan that.

Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
You know.

Speaker 17 (01:40:57):

Becker V Memorial Stadium. As Saint Trace gets a four
to three win over the Chillicothe Cavaliers and the Pioneers
pull back to even on the season at two and two.
As Chillicothe drops to two and two, Zane Trace got
on the board first in the bottom of the third
It was a one out lock. In fact, back to
back walks to McCullough and Oiler, and then Grady Stewart

(01:42:39):
started the scoring with a two run triple made it
two nothing. Zane Trace after three didn't last long. In
the top of the fourth inning of leadoff hit from
Jaden Gallagher for Chillicothe, he stole second and third, and
then with one out, scored on a sack bunt from
James Wrinkle. Wrinkle then stole second base and scored from
second on an RBI single from Aiden's Sca and that

(01:43:01):
made it a two to two ballgame. It stayed two
to two until we got to the bottom of the
sixth inning. A leadoff infield hit from Jaron Wilson, who
was then lifted for a pinch runner in Logan Lyle,
and then a bunt single by Noah Kaiser, and then
a pitching change and a pinch hitter Preston Lane came
in sacrifice bunt to play at first was mishandled got

(01:43:22):
away into foul territory and both Lyle and Kaiser both
scored to make it four to two. And then in
the top of the seventh, with one out, Levi Moss
for Chillacothi walked, stole second, went to third on a
pass ball, scored on a wild pitch to make it
four to three, but then strikeout strikeout ended the ballgame

(01:43:42):
and Saint Trace with a four to three win. Final
line score in this one for Chillicothe three runs, four hits,
one era. They left four on base, three in scoring position.
Zaan Trace went four runs, four hits, one error. They
left eight, six of those in scoring position. Pierce Manson
gets the win for Zane Trace and goes to one

(01:44:04):
and one on the year. He went seven innings, gave
up three runs on four hits, struck out fifteen batters,
and walked too. He was magnificent. Aiden Scale is pretty
good himself. The starter for Chillicothe, who takes the loss,
falls to zero to two. He went five plus tonight,
gave up four runs, two of those earned on four hits,
struck out five, walked four, and hit four batters. Tonight.

(01:44:25):
James Wrinkle also pitched an inning and struck out two
and his only inning of work for Chili Confee. So again,
the Zane Trace gets to win four to three and lose.
So far we're two for two two good ball games.

Speaker 3 (01:44:37):
Oh, it's been great and some great pitching and tonight
just fantastic pitching there by Pierce Manson, you know, had
control pretty much the whole night. There was one inning,
you know, again it was sort of the gamesmanship, try
to get him off his rhythm and he was. They
were able to do that, and he gave up some runs.
But man, I was really impressed with the way he

(01:45:00):
threw the ball here tonight and two really good out
He has to start the season for him as well now.
But I think the big play in the game, and
again Preston Lane comes in, you know, pinch hitter, new pitcher,
and he did what he needed to do, put the
ball in play and lo and be old. Two runs
score off of that sack. And that's the ball game.

Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
One of those where everybody knew there was bunting. First
and third comes running down pitcher fields. The ball throws
the first with the second basement coming over to cover,
and it just looked like the second baseman just took
his eye off the ball right before it got to
the glove, peeked down to make sure his foot was
on the bag, and the ball got loose and it
was a surprise that it got loose and down the

(01:45:44):
right field line in foul territory. We've talked about it.
The turf here isn't going to stop the baseball. It's
going to roll until something stops it and not allowed
two runs to score, and that ends up being the
difference in the ballgame. But heck of a baseball game
by both these teams. I think Chillicothe won't be happy
with how they competed tonight. I think Saint Trace will
be happy with the win. I'll be happy with the

(01:46:05):
way they pitch and play defense, but I think they'll
want to cash in on a few more of those
base runners.

Speaker 3 (01:46:09):
Yeah, and you have to. We saw that with Uni
Yodo yesterday as well. You know, you get those runners on,
you get them over, You got to get them in.
And good teams are gonna do that. And as the
year goes on, we'll probably see that happen with both
those teams. Those are gonna be good. That'll be a
good matchup come league time, this Saint Trace team against Uniodo.
But you know, glad that we were able to carry

(01:46:32):
two games here this week from be a memorial stadium.
We're gonna try to we have three more schedule to
see if we can get some more on the air.
But this has been fun. It's been great to get
back here with you, and you're comfortable in these surroundings
here at be a Memorial Stadium, and again I'm just
glad to be alone.
