Speaker 1 (00:01):
The following is a presentation of iHeartRadio Sports. This is
High School Baseball ninety four Country w KKJA. Now from
behind home plate, here's little Postage.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Hello, and welcome to Bob Wrin Stadium. Here on the
campus of Ohio University. We've got District semi final action
between Zane Trace and Ironton. I'm Chris Postage, joined along
by my father Tonight coach Loop Postage.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Coach.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
It's good to be here, it sure is. It's been
a long time into making. All the rain we got
yesterday washed that out, and unfortunately we were not able
to play at the VA because of the paints.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Their first one game tonight. What a viewful weather for that.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
But this facility was available, and there's played four games
here today starting at noon, and this is game number
So it kept getting pushed back and pushback because the
other games we're taking a little longer than the allotted time.
And we are here and we're gonna have first pitch
(01:13):
a little after eight o'clock.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
But it's great to be here.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Both these two teams excited to be here, and I
think we're gonna have a good baseball game here tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
This is the four or five matchup in the Southeast District,
Zane Trace, the number four seed, comes in with a
record of nineteen and nine.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
They were thirteen and one in conference play. That's good
enough for the crown in the Side of the Valley Conference.
Their head coach Ron Allen Coach of the Year and
the SVC.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Yeah, and again that was goal number one to win
the SVC. They accomplished that. They challenged themselves with some
non league games. You talk about the thirteen and one
league record, that compounds to probably a losing non league record.
But again, they went out and challenge themselves with their
non league games for just this for tournament time, and
(02:05):
I think they're ready for this. It's a great setting
here and a great opportunity for them here tonight in
District SEMIS and for.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Ironton, they're the five seed. They come in sixteen and six.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
They were twelve and two in conference play, good enough
for the top spot in the Ohio Valley. Their head
coach is Travis Wiley.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
Yeah and again there, this is a school has a
proud tradition of athletics down there. They're coming off a
league title in baseball as well, so they are ready
to go and you know it's it's game number four
of four on this day. We're going to definitely see
the lights take over and that's going to be an
incredible setting here at ou tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
The winner of this game advances to the district finals
tomorrow to play the winner.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
It's alrighty, we know the winner of that game.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
It was Menford they beat Welston in game three of
four year at Bob Wrenz Stadium. So the district final
will be the winner of this game and men for
both these teams played a quarterfinal matchup so far back
on last Thursday's Ay and Trace beat Chesapeake seventeen to two.
(03:17):
McCall of the winning pitcher in that game four innings pitched,
two hits, no runs, one base on balls, and seven
k's for Ironton. Last Friday, it was a four to
nothing shutout win against Ironton. Braden Baker, the winning pitcher
for Ironton. He went the whole game just giving up
two hits.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
Who they defeat last week, Portsmouth West Portsmouth West. All right,
so again both of these teams played you know almost well,
it was a week ago or a little more than
a week ago. Uh, and you know they've had some
rest so they can come back with the pitchers they
pitched in that game. That's what we're gonna see with
Zane Trace. Gunna McCall's gonna take them ount here tonight.
(03:58):
And again it's one of the those things. You know,
Gunner McCollough the player of the year in the league
for the SBC, not just first pitching, but for his
overall play. But you got to go with your your
best pitcher right now, and it's Gunna mcaller for the
Zane Trace Pioneer.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Just a few moments.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Away from Districts semi final action here at Ohio University,
we'll take a quick break, we'll come back, look at
some starting lineups, and we'll be back for the start
of this one. You're listening to high school baseball here
on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 6 (04:29):
It springs right around the corner at Sherwood Auto and

Speaker 8 (05:00):
The Scioto Valley's home for today's Country ninety four Country
w KKJ.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Welcome back to o High University.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
We'll look at some starting lineups for tonight's contest. First,
for the Ironton Tigers, batting lead off, the center fielder
Braden Baker, shortstop Bryce and Kerns in the three hole,
caster Ethan Sutton, in the four hole, the pitcher Jacob
Hughes batting fifth, the d H Carter Bridges sixth is
(05:30):
the first baseman Dawson Phil Yah seventh, the third baseman
Tanner Kleinman batting eighth, the second baseman Carson Freeman, and
in the nine hole the right fielder Owen Gallion.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
So looking down in the lineup, Baker, Kerrn, Sutton, Hughes, Bridges,
phil Ya, Kleinman, Freeman, and Gallion. They have the DH
their Bridges in for Ginger who plays left field. So
the number five hitter is their DH and their lineup,
and again the pitcher Jacob Hughes.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
When you look on.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
The stats that we've been provided, Hughes has only pitch
twenty four innings, but those twenty four innings have been
really good for him.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
He's got a point eight six ERA or thirty eight.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Strikeouts and ten walks so far, so I'm not sure.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Maybe he had some injuries during the course of the year.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
He just didn't throw as many innings, but only five
appearances on the year, But looking at the stats are
pretty impressive.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Now for the home team, the z Ain't Trace Pioneers
Betting lead off the centerfielder Mason Hartley in the two hole,
the second baseman that Noah Kaiser Betning third, the pitcher
gunner mccallaugh in the four hole, the third baseman Lucas Euler.
Fifth is the short stop Grady Stewart.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Betting six is the d H Blake Payne, the catcher
Quinton Allen in the seven hole Betting e the ranfielder
Preston Lane, and the nine hole hitter the left fielder
Jacob Staffer.
Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah, you look at their lineup, Hartly and Kaiser at
the top of the lineup, or the table setters, they
get on base, they're the one they have scored the
most runs for this Zane Trace team because they get
on base for batters like mcculloughy, Oiler and Stuart, they're
the ones who lead in the RBI. So that's sort
of how this team is set up now. Talking to
coach Allen before the game, one of the big keys
(07:29):
he says for them is they got to be able
to hit the ball tonight. We need to be able
to hit the ball consistently for our team to be
very successful. And talking about this Ironton team, he talked
about how none of the teams in the or all
the teams in the SCFVC has basically prepared him for
a team like Ironton. He says, very similar to what
(07:50):
he sees in the SVC, so nothing's really going to
throw them off. You talk about the SPC, there are
some really good pitchers in the SVC, and I went
down and you know, listed some of them, and you
have Sanders for Unioto, oh year. We saw the other
night for Huntington mcwarter. We saw the other night for
Southeastern Garrison for Adina, Reinhart for Payint Valley, and Low
(08:12):
for Westfall. Really good pitchers in this league, so this
ain't Grace's team has saw good pitching, so they should
be prepared for tonight. You talk about Gunnar McCullough on
the mound. Gunnar McCullough is eight and three overall pitching
two to one, six eighty two strikeouts and seventeen walks
on the year, So again, he was very impressive on
(08:33):
the mound this year as well as from the play we.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Talked about pitching.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
We got a back to back for these teams the
way things have worked out. We'll see how each coach
handles the pitching situation, knowing that if they win, they
won't have a game tomorrow against the number one in
one seed men.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
First, Yeah, and again that's that's a tough comeback, especially
you're the last game of the night here and you
got to come back in at two o'clock game tomorrow,
and should Zane Trace win that game, we'll be right
back here at Babra and Stadium here at OU for
that game on WKKJ. So again just a reminder, Zane
Trace wins this game, we will be back here on
(09:14):
the air tomorrow at two pm. Now you look ahead
at some of the other things we have playing Logan
Elm we saw earlier this week, when they're going to
be playing next week on Tuesday, we will have the
game here on WKKJ. That's a three o'clock start on Tuesday.
That'll be at OU against Fairfield Union. Also next week
(09:36):
on Wednesday, we will have Huntington hunting to defeated.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Southeastern earlier this week.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
They will be playing the winner of Mechanicsburg and Liberty
Union next Wednesday. That'll be a two pm start here
on WKKJ.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
As we got the coaches meeting with the umpires at
home Plate for the exchange of lineups or just moments
away from strict semi final action. Here on the campus
of Ohio University. What a beautiful campus it is. The
sun is setting just to our left here, the sun
(10:12):
shining on the Convocation Center out and right field. Left field,
we got the West Green Campus, the historic dorms, and
then the engineering buildings.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
On top of the hill.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
We can see Bromley Hall overlooking the College of Business
up there on top of the hill, Copeland College where
I received my graduate. Well undergraduate degree here down at
Ohio University.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Yeah, it is a beautiful campus and you and I
spent a lot of times over there in that convo
here this winter with all the games we did from there.
But just a beautiful place down here in Athens, Ohio.
Beautiful setting here tonight, no clouds in the sky, the
sun's setting. It'll be a little treacherous out there in
right field, I think, with that set sun, but it's
(11:02):
quickly fading to the west. But you have the softball
complex going on right now as well. We have a
regional action over there in the softball for the girls,
and it is right beyond the right field fence here,
and so a lot of action going on here at OU.
(11:23):
And even though the students may not be here, it's
still a beautiful setting, all right.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
The coaches meeting just ended at the home plate, and
soon Zane Trace will be taking their spot on the field.
They're going to announce the starting lineups here at OU.
So we'll take another quick break and we'll be back
for the start of this one. You're listening to high
school baseball on ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 6 (11:49):

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Welcome back to Ohio University District semi final action between
Zane Trace and Ironton, the winner advancing to the District
finals tomorrow to take on the Minford Falcons. When we
look at Zane Trace offensively, they score eight point seventy
five runs per game, defensively.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
Giving up four point one one.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
For Ironton offensively six point one eight and defensively only
giving up two point five nine runs per game to
two teams able to score it offensively. But I think
the key for both teams is on the defensive end.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
Yeah, and again it's to come down to pitching. You
know who's going to have the starter that can go
the most dings maybe, or you know somebody coming in
in relief. Both these teams have some pitching depths. So
again it's one of those things you got to get
to tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
So you know, you do.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
What you need to do today to get to tomorrow,
and you will throw whoever is available. But yeah, it's
it'll be interesting here tonight.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
And I think you need to get out to a
hot start as well.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Now two games week did on Tuesday night, the team
that scored first did not win. But still I think
for momentum purposes, you want to get off to a
good start early.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
When we look back at Thursday for Zane TRACE's seventeen
point out break, we talked about McCollough going four innings.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
On the mound.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
At the plate, he was three for three with a double,
three runs scored in, two runs batted in, as well
as a stolen base. Quinton Allen was two for three,
scored a run knocked into. Noah kais Are two for three,
scored two runs, knocked in three himself. Lucas oiler two
for two scored three runs himself and knocked in one.
(14:08):
Grady Stewart won for three, three runs scored and two
runs banded in. Blake Pain was one for one with
a double, a run scored and three runs banded in.
Harvy E's galore for Zane Trace in that game.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Yeah, and again they come in this game batting as
a team three thirteen on the year, so you know
they're they're they're known to be a good offensive team,
but they've had some games where they've really struggled. You
look at Ironton they're batting as a team two ninety
five on the year. So I think if you're Gunna
(14:44):
McCalla on the mound, you want to get off to
a good start here. You do not want to throw
a lot of pitches early, and you want to be
as efficient as possible.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
As the teams are announced, zing Trace takes their place
in the field.
Speaker 3 (15:00):
We'll set the field for you once again.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
In left field, it's Staffer, centerfield, hardly right field lane
up the middle for Zane Trace at short stomp is
Stewart and Kaiser over at second base. On the corners,
it's Oiler at third and Wilson at first, with mccallaugh
on the mound and Allen behind the plate.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Yeah, you look at our umpires here tonight you got
mister Matt Carson behind the plate, David Welch down at
first base, Kevin Pickerel at second in, Timothy Walker at third.
This is a time of the year where you start
to get at least four umpires in for these games.
Typically in a regular high school game, it's only a
two umpire crew.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Here, you got four tonight.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Unique stadium here, Bob grim Stadium, artificial turf all throughout
the infield. Once we get probably six or seven feet
behind where the infield would stop is where a natural
grass surface speaking with a brick dust warning track. Three
(16:06):
forty two the corners and four five to dead center.
Zane Trace and their home red uniforms, white pants, white numbers,
white numerals with their patented a royal blue trim. The
iron tin Tigers and their black uniforms with white pants.
They've got the orange lettering and numerals with a white trim.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
Very sharp look for both teams.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Yeah, really nice.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
And again our vantage point is right above pretty much
home plate, above the crowd. In the press box, we
have our own little booth here for broadcasting, and really
appreciate Rick Edwards, the director down here for this district tournament,
for allowing us to be here, and all the people
(16:54):
here at OU for allowing us to use their facilities.
But just a great vantage. He's twenty for us.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Great child by the people down here being flexible and
being able to fit all these games in after the
rain that the Southeast District has had the last few days.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
I know it's it's.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Been a lot in This field looks like it's in
great condition and they've groomed it well and ready to
go for District semi final action and then be back
for the finals tomorrow. All right, the final warm up
tosses have been taken. So the Ironton Batterers. The centerfielder
Braden Baker, he'll step in leading off for Ironton.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
He comes in betting two to eighty eight on the
year for the Tigers, and he just scored twenty three runs,
one of the leaders in that category for Ironton.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Baker left.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
He could also see him on the mound. He's had
forty five innings pitch this year. He sticks strikeouts first pitch.
The Baker's in the dirt ball, one call on the
mound the right hander.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
Yeah, McCullough's right now. His head is in the sun,
his feet are in shade. So I'm wondering if he's
having trouble maybe picking up home plate.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
The O one from McCalla sorry, the one to ozer
from mccallaugh that finds inside the zone for a strike.
One in one now the Baker, lead off man for
the Tigers, the one one just outside the ball to
two balls and.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
A strike second basement in right fielder have their hands
up trying to shade that son as the pitch is
being made. We saw that effect the game there in
the third game, where the second baseman didn't even see
the ball coming at him.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
Just before the two to one, Baker calls time steps
out of the box.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
I like the rule in Major League baseball where you can't.
I like it. Just stay in the box and let's go.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
I'm calling now ready with the two to one fastball,
swinging strike two, two balls and two strikes. Now, I
believe the rule in Major League baseball you get one
time out for a bat.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
I'm all in favor of.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
At the high school level, some of these games have
been taking way too long.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Ready for the two too mcallough the livers ball just
low runs into a full count.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
A reminder the high school game is only seven innings,
although you and I have seen two nine inning games
here this year.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Very efficient nine inning game we saw as the Zane
Trace Pioneers play U and Yodo's only about two hours
Chopper to the right side second basement, Kaiser over to
play it on to first for the first out.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
Of the inning.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
A really good job there, Kaiser, making sure he had
the ball in his sights and then making to throw.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
And now up for Irontons. The short stop bryceon Kerns.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Kerns comes in batting three to eighty one on the season,
four triples for Kerns on the AAR he's a team
leader in that turns.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
I'm sorry, Kerns.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
The right handed batter takes the first pitch for a strike.
A colorful bat, colorful gloves out there as well. McCalla
set for the one, delivers it out to the right side.
(20:48):
That's going to tail all the way and fouling out
of play quickly.
Speaker 3 (20:53):
No balls and two.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
Strikes to Kerns. One out of here.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
In the top of the first mccallaugh comes set out
of the stretch here with nobody on breaking ball at
the top of the zone. That'll stay high for a ball.
One ball, two strikes to the shortstop. Bryson cerns. Mccalla's
(21:28):
ready with the one. Two delivers. That's gonna be a
ball just outside of the zone. It's like a good
pitch from McCalla there. Kurns not biting on it.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Alan tried to frame that there and it looked like
it was just a tad outside.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Two balls, two strikes.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Now one out here in the top of the first
mccallar swinging his Curns blooper right over the head of
Wilson at first base and out to be a fair ball,
base hit from Bryson. Kerns, that's our first base runner
of the ball game. Brings up the catcher Ethan Sutton
for Ironton.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
It's almost like Wilson couldn't locate the ball right away again,
it's coming in that area of the sun and got
a light break on that one.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
Then unable to get there.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
One out here in the town for the first base
runner on birth bases currents. McCall out of the stretch,
checks back now delivers breaking ball inside for a strike.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Sutton three seventy nine on the year twenty three. RBI's lead.
Our leader for his team in RBIs two home runs
on the air as well.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Check over at first for mccallaugh back in time his
curns no balls in a strike to Sutton. Mcaller comes, set,
looks over at cerns. Now delivers breaking ball high and inside,
one ball in one strike now to Sudden.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Now mccallar is still trying to find his groove out
there on the mound. Mound. He has not pitched on
here this year. They have not played here at ou.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
One one swung foul straight down by Sutton. Now one ball,
two strikes one out here in the top of the
first base. Runner on first base is Kerns. We've got
(23:43):
time at home by Sutton, so'll step out of the box,
gather himself. McCall it takes the mound as Sutton steps
back in, Alan delivers the sign. Now mccallar comes, set,
checks out for delivers swinging high fly ball into left field.
(24:03):
Staffer over to play in. No, Hartley's gonna take it
in center and that'll be the second out of the inning.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Yeah, it looked like the left fielder had some troubled
locating that the shortstop couldn't get out in time. But
fortunately Hartley was able to make his way all away
from centerfield to get that out.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Now betting for ironton the pitcher, Jacob Hughes two ounce
here and the top of the first, a runner out first.
It's pricing currents and call it comes set now checks
back and delivers breaking ball outside. There's one ball, no strikes.
(24:48):
He was betting fourteen on the season. Mccallar ready for
the one to zero, delivers fastball, swinging strike one.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
This foul tip but cop by Allen.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Yeah, Allen has done a really good job of catching him.
For the same Trace team.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
We've seen them, i believe three times this year, and
all three times he's done an excellent job behind the plate.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Call it checks over the first turns back in time,
one ball and one strike. The Hughes with two outs
here and the top of the first. Mccallaugh delivers off
speed on the outside, two balls, one strike.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
He's trying to live a lot there on the outside corner.
It seems like with most of his pitches early in
the game. Here McCall a step for the two to one.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Checks over the first now delivers fastball over the heart
of the plate for a strike.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Two balls and two strikes. Now with two outs here
and the top.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Of the first Yeah, Ironton very patient early in this game,
not being very aggressive, letting going deep into count.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
McCall is set for the two two, swinging in a
foul ball straight bank off.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
The netting.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Count remains two balls, two strikes to the pitcher. Jacob Hughes.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Yeah, they started the runner there with two outs and
two to two count on the batter.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
McCall has set for the two to two once more.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Checks over at first, now delivers runner going fouled off
the dugout of Ironton.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
You staying alive here in the count.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Yeah, a little later on that one, but he stayed alive.
Just being defensive there. Founding that one off.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
I'm calling back to the rubber, gets the sign from
Alan he'll come set, delivers runner going called strike three.
That's how the top bath of the first one in
one runner gets on, but no damage done for the Tigers.
You're listening to high school baseball here on ninety four

Welcome back to Ohio University District semi final baseball action
here between Zane Trace and Iron Ten. As we head
to the bottom of the first we'll have Mason Hartley,
Noah Kaiser, and Gunner McCullough in the one, two, three
holes for the Pioneers.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Yea and again.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Hughes was the last batter of there, so he's finally
just now making his way to the pitchers mound to
start his warm ups for this inning. But Mason Hartley's
going to lead us off here. Mason batting two twenty
eight on the season, but he's got twenty stolen bases
on the year, he's walked fifteen times, and he's the
(28:58):
type of guy you want as a lead on or
to get on base and get things in motions. So
let's see if he can't get Zane trace started here
with the positive at bat and get a base runner
on early.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
As we mentioned for Jacob Hughes in the pre game,
just twenty four innings pitched on the year, thirty eight strikeouts,
ten locks and impress them zero point eighty six er.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
Yeah, we don't have stats other than so we don't
know if he's come into a lot of relief appearance.
But again he's only had five appearances on the years,
so you would not think he's been in very many
games as far as relief work.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Either one runner was able to reach base for the
Tigers in the top of the first mccallaugh pitched his
way out of the one out base runner and we
go to the bottom of the fir.
Speaker 5 (30:01):
Still tied as zero.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Hughes as he's thrown his warm up pitches here, very
compact delivery, not a lot of movement there and keeps
it all very close to his body as it's being
delivered there. So see if they ain't trace can't pick
it up out of his head and get some quality
(30:26):
swings here.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
A right warm ups are just now ending.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Mason Hartley makes his way into the manners box as
the Tiger.
Speaker 5 (30:36):
Defense takes their places.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Set in the field for.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
The Tigers, Ginger, Baker and Gullon in the outfield.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
First pitch is high. It'll be ball one up the middle.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Its Kerns and Freemen on the corners, its Kliman and
fai Yah.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
On the mound is Hughes and behind the plate is.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
Quickly up to count as Kaiser two balls, no strikes,
two zero from Hughes. Breaking ball catches the top corner
of the zone for a strike. Two balls in a strike.
Now to the lead off man, Mason Hartley.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
Third basement, playing deep.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
That breaking ball was high in outside, sorry high in
inside on Kaiser, he ducked away three balls and one strike.
Us delivers fastball that's outside and that'll be a five
pitch walk to Mason Hartley as the Pioneers get their
(31:44):
first man on base.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
Definitely a thread over there at first base of running.
So again we're going to see Hughes from the stretch
right away here. After walking the first patter.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
Noah Kaiser the second baseman stepping in for the Pioneers.
Speaker 5 (32:01):
See if we don't get maybe even a bun action
here hues out of the stretch. Now delivers bun attempt
throw behind Hartley is picked off my Sutton Guyser pulled
back the bunt, hardly got a good lead on the pitch,
(32:22):
and Sutton pit threw behind him the first base and
picked him off.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
That's definitely not what you want if you're zaying trace.
We saw in game three there that Minford almost ran themselves.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
And the next picks comes in on Kaiser and hits him.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Well, that really makes you feel, how you know much
of an air that was to get picked off there?
But when I was just looking at the lineups here,
believe it or not, that is to know way Kadzer's
ninth time by being hit by a pitch.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
He's a leader on this team of them that.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
One out here in the bottom of the front first
the pitcher gunner McCalla is stepping to play four.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Zane tracks man on first basis.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
NOA. Kaiser us comes set out of the stretch.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Now delivers fastball low and outside one ball knows strikes.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
So the conference Player of the Year gunner mccallough. Is
that a tough time finding the strike zone here? Early is.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
Hughes us now with the one to zero swinging strike
one counts even one ball and one.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
Strike look a little high and outside there.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Use comes set with the one one checks it first
checks again once more. Now delivers swinging foul tip back
to the netting by mccallough.
Speaker 5 (33:56):
One ball and two strikes now, I think.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
That hanged off the catcher's mass there.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
One ball and two strikes to mccallall one out here
in the bottom of the first kuyser over at first base.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Hughes come set.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Now delivers swinging foul ball bounced up and hit mccollumn
while he was still in the box. So one ball,
two strikes now.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
I'll feel playing pretty deep, especially in left and right field.
Mccaull has got some popping that back.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
We'll do the one too again. Use delivers swinging high
fly ball down the right field line.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
That's gonna go foul and out of play.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Yeah, that sun is quickly setting in the right fielder
in second baseman are.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Quickly cheering for that to happen to ap. We'll do
the one two.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Once again, Hughes comes set, checks over on Kaiser at
first now delivers breaking.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Ball shot right back up the minter.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
The second baseman cuts it off, flips it the second
for one over the first not in time, mcala legs
out the fielder's choice.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
That'll be a four to six put out at second base,
and the call is safe on the fielder's choice there.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
But Hugh's got a hand on that ball.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
He's got his glove on that Ball's sort to slow
it down enough for the second baseman Freeman to make
a sliding stop and get it to the shortstop.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Curents for the app two ounce.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
Now for the third baseman. Lucas oiler.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
First pinch fastball outside one ball, no strikes. Hugh's out
of the stretch with the call of at first one. Oh,
mccallaugh going and it's stealing a timp he's thrown out.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Not sure how that paul was made, but I thought
for sure he got in there.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
O cot stealing is mccallaugh, and that's how the inning's
gonna end. You're listening to high school baseball here on
ninety four Country WKKJ.
Speaker 13 (36:25):

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Welcome back to Ohio University District semi final action between
Zane Trace and Ironton.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
We had a scoreless first inning.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
As we head to the top of the second, Theseane
Trace Pioneers went in an unorthdonic one two three as
all three batters reached base, but all three were put
out on the base paths.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
Yeah, you had one throat caught off first base by
the catcher. And again that catcher Sutton did a great
job there at that inning throughout the runner at first.
Then next one got hit by a pitch. He gets
put out four to six on the fielder's choice, so
he's out a second. And then Gunner McCalla there at
(37:48):
the end of that ending get caught stealing by Sutton.
So three up, three down, but very as you said, unorthodox.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Gunner mccallam back on the mountain, four zay trace as
they start the second inning. First up for Ironton would
be the designated hitter, Carter Brnches as we're gonna see
the five, six, and seven hole hitters for Ironton here
in the second it was very rare.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
Do you see three guys reach base and in the
ending with no runs and no one left on base.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
Coach Allen went into the dugout after that one not
pleased with the call at second base as.
Speaker 5 (38:35):
It he thought mccaullay got in there.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
The tag was behind McCollum more on his backside, but
they said he got him before he reached the bag.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
Yeah, the ball was right on the bag.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
It bounced out there and the second baseman took it
and then had to make the tag down. And when
he tagged down it seemed like gutter was on the base.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Bridge is stepping in the box now for Iron ten
right hander, first pitch from mccallaugh is gonna be high
and inside.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
That'll be a ball. Yeah, as you said, Bridges the
d h here he's betting three sixty one on the year.
Speaker 5 (39:28):
And call is sent with the one to zero swinging
chop to the left side.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Stewart over to play it, bobbles it and now delivers
the first but it's not going to be in time.
Bridge's legs out the single on the bobble from Stewart,
and are they going to call that an air?
Speaker 3 (39:48):
I believe they did. Yeah, so that'll be an air on.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
The shortstop, allowing Bridges to reach first base. But had
up awful spin on it as it went out there,
and I had a hard time handling it.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
The first baseman Dawson Phil Yah in for Ironton, the
left hander, swinging at the first pitch, he lines it
into left field. That's going to drop for a base hit.
Second hit of the afternoon for Ironton, runners on first
and second. Now the third baseman Tanner Kleinman.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Klineman three to twelve on the year. As he steps
in first, two runners reach a base here for Ironton.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
In the top of the second, my collag comes set
in the stretch, now delivers breaking ball, drops in the
zone for a strike.
Speaker 3 (40:59):
Two runners on.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
That's Bridges and final off for Ironton. The one to
zero choppings to the second basement to Stewart for one
on the first.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
Not in time. Runners on the corners.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Now for Irontin one out here in the top of
the second, close play there at first, just not quite
in time to get that double play, but did get
the out at second Bass for six put out there,
and now you got runners on the corner.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
You got a first run down there only ninety feet away.
Speaker 2 (41:37):
Second baseman Carson Freeman stepping in for Ironton. Mccallaugh steps
off towards third and then checks back at first. Now
back on the rubber, gets the sign from Allen. Mccallugh
(41:57):
comes set, checks out first. Now deliver the running growing
from first, Alan third down to second.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
That's gonna be a good throw and he got it right,
yeah both.
Speaker 4 (42:12):
Catcher has done a good job so far here of
controlling the base running.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
Alan throws out climbing trying to steal second. Two outs
now here in the top of the second, runner on
third for Iron tenth. It's Bridges Ye. One's a swinging
strike from Freeman.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
And Ireton had two guys on nobody out. Now they
only have one runner left out there on third base
right now and now there's two outs.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
We'll call it.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
Comes sent for the two. We're you get time by Freeman.
He gathers himself in the box. Now all steps back
to the plate. Mccaullaugh comes sit with the two breaking ball,
(43:06):
check swing and appeal down to first. You want to
say he didn't go first ball, Yeah, he definitely thought
about it. A nice pitch there by mccallell with two
strikes on him and definitely don't want to lose him
here though, one ball.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
And two strikes, two outs.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
Here in the top of the second, runner on third
for Ironton call it deliver swinging strike three. The Pioneers
get out of a jam. They'll head to the bottom
of the second. I'm still tying at zero. You're listening
to high school baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

action between Zane Trace and Ironton.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
As we go to the bottom of the second, we're
still tied scoreless.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
Here it will be the four five six centers of Oiler, Stewart,
and Payne due up for the Pioneers.
Speaker 4 (44:44):
Yeah, this first ding and a half, there's been a
lot of movement out there on debates pass, but not
a lot of good things happening because you've got Runners
being thrown out and making some men awares and no
run so far.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
Hugh's back on the mound for Ironton.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
Got that unorthodox one two three for Ironton, and the
first he did pitch once to Oiler.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
That was a ball, but it was a throw cot stealing.
So Oiler will be back up with a fresh count
here in the bottom of the second.
Speaker 4 (45:26):
Yeah, Oiler steps in on the year betting three eighty
two League leader or the team leader in RBIs with
thirty seven.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
First pitch, swinging on the fastball, that'll be a strike.
He's ready with one another swinging fastball on the outside.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
O two.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
Now, Yeah, we don't have the luxury of the speed
pitch machine here at OU, but he's got some velocity
on that fast ball.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
YO one was outside. That'll be a ball. One ball
on two strikes to oiler. Now use making quick work
in the second and that's going to be a called
strike three at the bottom of the zone.
Speaker 4 (46:18):
Yeah, he'd much better control here to the first batter
in the second inning that he had all first hittings.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
Short stop Grady Stewart stepping in for the Pioneers now
with one out here in.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
The bottom of the second.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
Used quickly delivers half swing there by Stewart.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
That'll be a strike.
Speaker 4 (46:41):
I think he was expecting fastballing and definitely broke down
in a way.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
The O one's gonna be called a ball on the inside.
One ball, one strike. Now to the short stop Stewart
quickly back to the playe hughes Chopper to the left
side the third basement. Climbman over to play it now
on the first or the second out of the inning.
Speaker 4 (47:06):
Yeah, the artificial surfaces, you get some nice hops and
that perfect play there by the third basement climban.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
Now the designated hitter Blake Pain stepping in for Zane Trace.
Speaker 5 (47:21):
Two ounce here in the bottom of the second.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
Two sixty six batter on the season is Pain Pain.
Speaker 2 (47:33):
The left hander facing the righty Hughes first, pitch low
and outside for a ball. Hughes out of the wind up,
delivers the one to oh chop to the left side.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
That's the short stop.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Curns over the first and in order go the Pioneers,
and that ends the second inning.
Speaker 3 (47:59):
We're on to the third. Were still scoreless.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
You're listening to high school baseball here on ninety four

Welcome back to Ohio University.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
Here for districts semi final action between Zaane Trace and
Iron ten.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Through two innings, we're still scoreless.
Speaker 2 (48:53):
Zane Trace going one, two three in the conventional fashion
that time, and for Ironton leading off the third inning,
it'll be the nine hole hitter Owen Gaullion and then
the one two hitter for Ironton to follow.
Speaker 4 (49:10):
Yeah, it's had four guys on base here in this game.
They've only left two on base officially, but that last
inning and they got three guys on base and came
away with no runs, stranding to run our at third base.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Mccallall back on the mound for Zane Trace. As the
sun has officially set here in Athens of Ohio, got
the lights on, and boy, this place still is beautiful.
Speaker 4 (49:44):
Yet the sundown to the light of everyone on the
right side of this field, the second baseman, the right
fielder especially.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
All right warm ups now finished right field. Galleon stepping in. Gallion,
a right hander, first pitch, lays down a bunt to
the first base side up to play it as Wilson,
and he picks it up and tags Gallion for the
(50:20):
first out of the inning.
Speaker 4 (50:21):
Ice played there by Wilson just waiting for the ball
to come to him and just made the simple taggle
on the base.
Speaker 2 (50:29):
Runner line up, turning over now for the Tiger centerfielder
Braden Baker stepping back in.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
Baker grounded out the second basement in the first inning.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
One out here in the top of the third inning,
Baker steps in Goton and mccaulla coming set now deliver
his first pitch in the dirt for a ball.
Speaker 4 (51:01):
Yeah, we still as we said, softball field over there
a lot of cheering coming from the softball field right
now as they are playing regional competition.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
Mccallough sent for the one to zero swung on hit
up the middle over to play this Stewart. He knocks
it down, but unable to make a playover at first.
Speaker 3 (51:25):
So that should be an infield to hit for. Actually,
I think they're gonna put an air up there. They're
gonna call it an air.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
Now, batting for ironton the shortstop, bric in currents the
runner on first, one out here in the top of
the third, mccallaugh checks over at first. Baker's back in
there safely. Now mccaulla comes set, looks at Baker. Now
(52:04):
delivers be a ball inside two kerns, one ball, no strikes.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
I'll call it coming set for the one.
Speaker 2 (52:22):
Ozero now delivers swinging get to the right side, and
that's gonna find its way into right field. Lane's there
to play it and holds the runners to one base.
Speaker 4 (52:35):
So for this second inning in a row, they have
runners at first and seconds. Does Iron tenth one out, though.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
The three hole hitter is the catcher Ethan Sutton steps
in for the Tigers. One out here in the top
of the third, base runners on second and first.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Sutton flew out to a left center field the first any.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
Corners playing back for the Pioneers, pass ball gets by
Allen and the runners are going to advance ninety feet.
Speaker 4 (53:14):
Yeah, now you got yourself in a situation here, two
runners in scoring position, one out. That ball just got
away from McCullough and just was too high for the
catcher to get his club on it.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
One ball, no.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
Strikes to the catcher Sutton with one out here in
the top of the third base runners on second and third,
now call a deliver, swinging foul ball straight back and
out of play even the count one ball and one strike.
Speaker 4 (53:53):
Yeah, you cannot keep souvenir balls here. They are not souvenir.
They are game balls that need to be used.
Speaker 2 (54:02):
McCall already with the one to one breaking ball outside
for a ball, two balls and a strike to Sutton,
runners at second and third, one out, mccallell ready with
(54:23):
the one two. Sorry with the two to one chompers,
and that's gonna find its way into left field.
Speaker 3 (54:29):
One runner is gonna score. The relay in it's picked
up by.
Speaker 2 (54:34):
Oiler, and that's gonna hold the runner at third banks
an RBI single for the catcher Ethan Sutton. It's our
first run of the ball game, Ironton on top one
to nothing.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
You have runners at the quarter.
Speaker 4 (54:53):
A nice piece of hitting there, finding the opening between
third and short.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
Now banning is the pitcher Jacob Hughes with runners at
the corner, one out, mccallaugh checks over a Sutton nut
first and he gets back in there safely.
Speaker 4 (55:14):
Yeah, McCalla was able to get out of that gym
in the second inning. This time they finally get a
run across the plate.
Speaker 5 (55:23):
Now mccallaugh delivers fastball in there for a strike.
Speaker 2 (55:30):
It's a Hughes no balls in a strike with one out,
runners at the corner here and the top of the
third inning, mccaullaugh comes, set, checks on the runners. Now
delivers fastball, tips straight back to the netting quickly in
(55:51):
a hole. Is sudden, no balls, two strikes, Actually Shoes, yes, sorry,
take a pews. Something's standing over there at first base.
Mccaulla come and set. Now delivers the O two fastball
high and outside. One ball, two strikes to Jacob Ughes.
Speaker 4 (56:17):
Now we're getting in the third inning here and getting
close to probably forty pitchers for gunner mcculloughy here early.
Speaker 2 (56:29):
Shoes calls time, gathers himself. I'll step him back in
the box. One ball, two strikes, one out here, runners
at the corners for iron.
Speaker 3 (56:44):
Ten.
Speaker 2 (56:45):
Mcaulla comes, set, checks the runners. Now delivers Oh wow,
ball was gonna be just low even to count two
balls and two strikes.
Speaker 3 (56:56):
Then Trace wanted that one and it was close.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
Mccaullaugh comes set for the two to two, delivers that
one low once more moves the count full three balls
and two strikes, one out with runners at the corner.
(57:30):
What's set for the three to two delivers swinging strike three.
Speaker 3 (57:35):
You got them on the eater two ounce now for
the designated hitter. Carter Bridges.
Speaker 4 (57:43):
A big strikeout there for color again. Last two innings
he's pitched with runners at third base, and there is
a big strikeout and two outs now in the inning,
runners on the corners.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
My call it comes set now, steps up off towards
third checks banket first, no throw. He's going to gather
himself back on the rubber.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
Bridges reased on an air in the first inning to
hit the shortstop and was able to lay it out.
Speaker 2 (58:19):
The call it delivers a breaking ball, catches the outside
part of his own first strike.
Speaker 4 (58:27):
That looked a lot outside to me compared to some
of the other pitches he's called balls.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
No balls, and one strike.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
The Bridges call it coming, set down, deliver its fastball
swung on sky high down the right side.
Speaker 3 (58:44):
That's going to be out of play, no balls and
two strikes. There's a race for the ball, and did
he let the young girl get it? He did not.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
Let her pick it up, And then you can bring
it back an O two hole for bridges call it
comes set with the runners up to the corners, two outs.
Runner goes from first breaking ball in there for strike three.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Wow, two big strikeouts to end the inning for McCullough.
Speaker 2 (59:13):
One run comes across for the Tigers. We head to
the bottom of the third inning iron ten on top
of the Pioneers, one to nothing. You're listening to high
school baseball here on ninety four country WKKJ.
Speaker 12 (59:26):
Have you ever worked your.
Speaker 17 (59:27):

in the gut and feel like a failure? Hey, it's
Jen Conny with Homelands. By Jen, That exact thing happened
to Whitney and Adam. They listened to their loan officer.
They did everything he said to do, only to be
told no at closing day. Then Whitney heard me talking
to y'all in the radio and decided to take another chance.
After working a quick plan for approval, they were in
(59:48):

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Welcome back to Ohio University District semi final action between
Zane Trace and Ironton. As we add to the bottom
of the third, Ironton on top of the Pioneers one
to nothing.
Speaker 5 (01:00:21):
That last inning, Zane Trace went in order.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
So we'll have the seven eight to nine hitters of Allen,
Lane and Stauffer do up.
Speaker 4 (01:00:31):
Yeah, going back to the commercial there kind of Recollor
worked his butt off to get out of that jam.
There two big strikeouts leaving to runner a third base
with only one out, So good job by him and
Ironton did that to play for the first time. So
Zane Tracey has got to come from behind. But again
going back to what coach Allen said before the game,
(01:00:53):
they have.
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Got to hit the ball, and right now they haven't.
Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
They got runners on base by walk hit pitch, but
they erase them with some airs on the base pass,
so they have got to try to get some solid
contact here off Hughes.
Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Hughes back on the mound for iron ten efficient work
so far, no hits for Zane Trace, didn't have the
three base runners all raced on the base pass.
Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
Hughes has one strikeout to strike out Lucas Euler to
start any number two.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
He was definitely more comfortable there in the second inning,
making quick work, getting a sign and delivering why right away.
The catcher steps in for Zane Trace, Quintin Allen, Quentin
Allen coming in three forty one on the year. Really
good job at left handed hit her here.
Speaker 5 (01:01:55):
Allan an honorable mention all SVC.
Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
First pitch hit up the middle of short stop, over
to play it, delivers to first down. It'll be the
first out of the inning. Cerns with a nice play
over there at shore.
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
Yeah, he got there quickly and was able to get
the ball and come up throwing all in one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
Motion lane preston Lane. The right fielder.
Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
Steps in the face Hughes for the first time. First pitch,
breaking ball on the inside part of the plate. It's
going to be a strike.
Speaker 4 (01:02:32):
Yeah, that had so much spin on that spin right
out of the catcher's glove.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
No balls in a strike to lane one out here
in the bottom of the third inning, U starts to
wind up. Now delivers swinging strike two quickly in an
O two hole four lane use quickly back to the
plate and I call a strike three on the outside
(01:03:01):
part of the plate.
Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
Three pitch strike out for Hughes.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
Yeah, Hughes, I thought really struggled in that first inning
and trying to find the strike zone.
Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
But he has zeroed in right now and done a
really good job.
Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
Jacob Stalfer, the left fielder stepping in for the Pioneers,
first pitch, breaking ball outside, swung on and missed no
balls in a strike with two ounce here in the
bottom of the third.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
It's like Mempher is getting ready to call it a
night and head home.
Speaker 5 (01:03:33):
Fastball inside to staffer for a ball.
Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
Wonder this game will take on min for tomorrow at
two pm.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
Right here, Hughes delivers fastball right by staffer. One ball
and two strikes now two ounces here in the bottom
of the third.
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
He was not messing around rivers.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
That ball looked like a strike, but it's called a ball.
Two balls, two strikes.
Speaker 4 (01:04:05):
He had multiple guys going to the dugout there after
that pitch, but they have to go back and find
their positions.
Speaker 5 (01:04:12):
Counts even the two two quickly to wind up hughes
breaking ball.
Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
Again.
Speaker 5 (01:04:20):
Players making a few paces towards.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
The dug out retreat to their position as the umpire
called it a.
Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
Ball and now he's got a full count on him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
The three to two to staffer hughes out of the
wind up delivers breaking ball swung on and missed, and
that's how the third inning will end.
Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
We head to the fourth irons and on top of
the Pioneers one to nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
Welcome back to Ohio University District semi final action here
between Zane Trace and Ironton. As we head to the
fourth inning, Ironton's on top of the Pioneers one to nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:05:40):
It was another one two three inning for the Pioneers
there in the third.
Speaker 4 (01:05:47):
Yeah, and if you're a gunner, mccaullay, you got to
come out here and make quick work of Ironton and
get yourselves right back to the dugout and get the
top of the order back up here. So you don't
want another anywhere you struggle through the inning and definitely
want to keep the runners again. He runs from coming
to the plate.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Six, seven and eight hole hitters for Ironton will come
to face mccallaugh here in the top of the fourth,
of course, one being the first baseman Dawson Phil y'all
so base hit.
Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
There in the second inning, he was erased on the
fielder's choice.
Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
But.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
In the left hander came up and came up big
with a base hit.
Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
Allen gets back behind the plane after his meeting with
McCollough and phill y'all the left hander steps in now,
call it comes, set now, delivers off speed, finds the
zone for a strike.
Speaker 3 (01:06:53):
No balls in a strike.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
Okay, he's got to be efficient here with his pitches.
Another big pitch count of any call it coming set
now delivering.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
One bounced across the plate, evens the count up one
ball and one strike. The caller ready for the one
one delivers fastball low on the zone.
Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Be two balls and a strike now.
Speaker 4 (01:07:34):
And a nice thing about this complex, there's a lot
of green area too for people to be sitting on
the grass or blanket and just sitting here watching some baseball.
Speaker 5 (01:07:49):
McCall is sent for the two to one.
Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
Fastball swung on and miss evens the count two balls
and two strikes.
Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
Yeah, McCullough struck out the last two batters there of
the third inning. Here and see if he can't get
one to lead off this inning.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Sept for the two to two swinging strike three and
call a six down file off for the first out
of the inning.
Speaker 4 (01:08:17):
Strike out number four on the evening for mccallaugh, and these,
as I said, struck out the last three batters he's faced.
Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
The seven hole hitter, the third baseman Tanner Kleinman color,
call it come and sent, delivers that was high in
the zone for a ball.
Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
One ball, no strikes. With one out here in the
top of.
Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
The fourth inning, Ironton on topazine trace one to nothing,
and that one comes high and inside on Klimman, and
it hits him in the helmet. He shakes it off
right away and runs down the first.
Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
Base unfazed by that one, and just took off the
first base. So even though it hit him in the helmet,
I think it was breaking away from him as it
just glanced the helmet.
Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
So the second baseman, Carson Freeman stepping in for Ironton
now with a runner on first, one out here in
the top of the fourth, call it comes, set checks
over at first, now delivers chopp her up the middle.
Stewart over to play it, steps on second, delivers a
first scoop yet oh wow by Wilson, and a double
(01:09:40):
play ends the inning for the Pioneers. We'll head to
the bottom of the fourth now Ironton on top of
a trace one to nothing. You're listening to high school
baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

Welcome back to Ohio University District semi final action between
Zane Trace and Iron ten. The winner will play Menford
tomorrow at two pm here in the District finals and
this one we head to the bottom of the fourth
with Ironton on top of Zane Trace one to nothing.
Zane Trace still looking for their first hit of the ballgame.
Speaker 4 (01:10:50):
Yeah they are, and definitely they're going to go back
to the start or the top of the order here
coming up in this inning. And they did what they
needed to in the first in the just mental errors
on the base path cost him. So see if they
can't do the same here as they get to the
top of the order. But that was a great play
by Grady Stewart there the end at ending with the
(01:11:13):
double play number one fielding the ball, number two finding
the base and Many whipped that ball over and Wilson
did a great job of finding that ball on a bounce.
Speaker 2 (01:11:24):
The center fielder Mason Hardly will start things off here
in the bottom of the fourth for his any trains.
He reached in the first inning on a walk from Hughes.
First pitch from Hughes catches the inside corner for a
strike bo one, swinging strike two.
Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
Yeah, Hughes's command right now is really good.
Speaker 5 (01:11:54):
Use backs off now.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
Look like a music communication there, but swing the catcher
and pitcher. So Hughes now gonna step back on the rubber,
gets the sign now, starts to wind up, and a
swinging strike three. Hartley sat down for the first out
of the inning.
Speaker 3 (01:12:15):
I think Hughes right now is just telling him I
just want to throw a fastball.
Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
I think that's what was going on here. Shook off
the pitch and he is showing his presence right now
with that fastball.
Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
Second baseman Noah Kaiser back in the box four Zane trace.
Speaker 5 (01:12:35):
He reached on a hip on a yeah, he was
hitting the shoulder by Hughes.
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
First pitch was a ball, second pitch of swinging strike
from Kaiser quickly one ball and one strike here with
one out in the bottom of the four.
Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Right now, there's no guessing as to what's coming. Right now,
it's just straight fastballs.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
He's ready for the one to one swinging liner into
left field, and Noah Kaiser delivers the first base hit
of the ball game for the Pioneers.
Speaker 4 (01:13:11):
Kaiser said, I see it and I'm going to hit it,
and a great job of putting it right out there
in the left field.
Speaker 3 (01:13:17):
Again, he knew what pitch was coming. There was no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:13:20):
It's been fastballs for Hughes here in this ballgame or
this inning so far.
Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
The pitcher Gunna mcallis stepping in for the Pioneers one
out here in the bottom of the fourth. Kaiser over
at first base, first pitch on the outside, check swing
appeal and they say he went around.
Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
No balls and a strike two McCollough, he was ready
for the one.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
He checks over at first at Kaiser who gets back
in safely.
Speaker 4 (01:13:57):
Phil, you, I did a great job of catching that ball.
Because he almost threw it away.
Speaker 2 (01:14:06):
The O one now to McCalla, breaking ball outside, one ball,
one strike.
Speaker 4 (01:14:12):
Sudden came up like he was gonna throw down the
first of the eight trace like not gonna happen this time.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
One one to McCalla. Used, checks over again to Kaiser,
gets back in safely.
Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
And again.
Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
Kaiser and Hartley are the table setters. Kaiser doesn't have
a ton of stolen pass on the air, but he
gets on base quite a bit.
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
One one McCalla, swinging strike two one ball on a
strike to McCalla. One out here in the bottom of
the fourth base runner is Kaiser over at first base
Use steps to the mound, checks over on Kaiser at first,
(01:15:06):
now comes set, checks again, now delivers swinging fouled out
of play by mccallaugh. Stands alive, one ball, two strikes.
The catcher that time set way outside. He was way
out there, almost in the batter's box. Hughes set for
(01:15:28):
the one too, checks on Kaiser now deliverers inside. That'll
be a ball even to counting two balls and two
strikes to mccallough.
Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
A great job by Sutton because he lined up again
outside and that ball came inside.
Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
He had to move and get there and make a catch.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Hugh's comes set, checks over on Kaiser, checks again, now
delivers to two outside, gets away from Sutton and Kaiser
are gonna swipe second base runner and screwing position for
the Pioneers. Now with one out here in the bottom
of the fourth count, moves to full three to two
(01:16:12):
on mccallaugh.
Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
Yeah, base hit here, you tie this thing up.
Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Hughes come sent for the three to two checks on Kaiser,
now delivers chomped to second, and that's gonna hit Kaiser
and that's gonna be an out for Kaiser and McCall's
gonna be safe at first.
Speaker 4 (01:16:38):
Tell you what mental errors on the base path just
killing seeing trace right now Kayser going from second to third,
seize the ball. It's right in front of him, but
he ran right into it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
So two outs now as Lucas Euler steps in fours,
ain't trace. Runner at first base is mcalla. He just
comes set now delivers breaking ball inside for a strike.
(01:17:21):
Us set for the O one checks on McCollum at first,
we got time at the plate by oiler.
Speaker 5 (01:17:29):
He gathers himself, steps back into.
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
The box.
Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
And he gets back to the mouth. No ball is
in a strike with two outs. Here in the bottom
of the fourth base runner at first base for the
Pioneers is mcallaugh. Use delivers a breaking ball in the
outside part of the plate for a strike.
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
Oiler. Now in a two zero hole.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
US come set now delivers mccallar running, but a swinging
strike three sits down Oiler, and that's how.
Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
The fourth inning will end.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
We'll head to the fifth iron gin on top of

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Welcome back to Ohio Universe City, where we had to
the fifth inning here in the district semi finals between
Zane Trace and Ironton. With Ironton on top one to nothing,
Zane Trace able to get their first hit of the
ball game in the fourth inning, had a base runner
in scoring position. He was out on the running into
(01:19:20):
the live ball, and that erased the scoring opportunity for
the Pioneers.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
So you've had some base running airs. You had a
guy caught off first base, thrown out by the catcher
after a pitch. You've had a guy caught stealing, and
then now you've had a base runner running into a
batted ball. So all three airs mentally for Zane Trace,
and then they have two physical errors in the field
(01:19:50):
right now. So to be only down one right now
is pretty good and I think Gunnar mccullis had a
lot to say about that. And get some big strikeouts
him limited to damages.
Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
We'll have the nine to one, two batters for Ironton
do up here in the top of the fifth. Leading
off will be the right fielder o En Gallion calling
back on the mound four Zane Trace. McCall is set
(01:20:29):
to Galleon delivers swinging strike wand.
Speaker 4 (01:20:33):
Yeah, Gallion grounded out to the first basement unassisted in
the second inning or a third.
Speaker 5 (01:20:40):
Inning, no balls in one strike to the right field or.
Speaker 2 (01:20:48):
M calling come sent now delivers and that's going to
be a change up called strike on the outside part
of the play. No balls and two strikes to gallon
the O two on the outside swinging strike three. McCollough
(01:21:12):
punches out the first batter of the fifth inning.
Speaker 3 (01:21:15):
To strike out number five on the night from McCullough
line up.
Speaker 2 (01:21:21):
Turning over now for the Tigers, the center fielder Braden
Baker stepping in.
Speaker 4 (01:21:27):
Baker scored the only run back in the third inning
after he reached on an air and was hit in
by the catcher Sutton.
Speaker 3 (01:21:39):
One out.
Speaker 2 (01:21:40):
As Baker steps in, he takes a breaking ball on
the outside part of the plate for a strike. No
balls one strike, one out here in the top of
the fifth that breaking ball well outside for a ball.
Speaker 4 (01:22:00):
Just over an hour and ten minutes into this game
here and it's flowing pretty well. But Chris has passed
nine o'clock already. I think we're gonna have to rename
our broadcast Late Night with Chris and Lou.
Speaker 2 (01:22:14):
And the one one is in there for a strike. Well,
we can't leave out Sydney. Sidney's been sticking it out
with us as well. The last few nights. Sidney's been
a trooper.
Speaker 4 (01:22:25):
And I'll tell you what, We've had tough week here
as far as broadcast go.
Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
But she makes sure we get on the air.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
One two skyte into right field over to make the
play is lane for the second out of the inning.
Now coming to bad is the short stop Brice and Kerns.
Speaker 3 (01:22:50):
Things moving a.
Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
Little faster over here than over on the softball diamond.
It looks like there are three nothing over in the
third inning.
Speaker 4 (01:22:58):
They may hit the curve you here for Athens, Ohio today,
still have a curfew down there.
Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
There's no curfew in Athens, Ohio.
Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
Should first pitch breaking ball catches the outside part of
the plate for a strike.
Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
College students running around.
Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
The streets fastball high in the zone for a ball,
one ball, one strike, two outs. Here in the top
of the fifth inning, the one one swung on and
foul down the right field side.
Speaker 5 (01:23:37):
Mccallel on top of one ball and two strikes.
Speaker 4 (01:23:41):
Have somebody go get that ball, because I don't think
we can play with the ball. Just sitting down there
when I get somebody from the dugout running down there
to retrieve that.
Speaker 2 (01:23:56):
If the umpire tells mccalle of the ball's in play,
now one ball and two strikes to Kerns, call it
delivers breaking ball, swung on and miss another punch out
from a Colla. And that's how the top of the
fifth will end one two, three in order go the
Tigers will head to the bottom of the fifth.
Speaker 3 (01:24:17):
You're listening to.
Speaker 2 (01:24:18):

between Zane Trace and Iron Ten.
Speaker 5 (01:25:05):
As we head to the bottom of the fifth inning, the.
Speaker 2 (01:25:08):
Ironton Tigers are on top of the Pioneers one to nothing.
McCallum with a one two three inning in the south
half of the fifth and now Zane Trace comes back
with a chance to tie it here or take the
lead in the fit. The lead off hitter for Zane
Trace would be the five hole hitter. The shortstop Grady.
Speaker 4 (01:25:29):
Stewart playing jump around here, trying to get the crowd
a little excited, but no one's joining in. And hopefully
for Zaint Tracing can get some jumping around and going here.
Speaker 3 (01:25:41):
As they go around the base, pass.
Speaker 2 (01:25:45):
Hughes back on the mound for the Tigers, has help
face Grady Stewart to start the bottom of the fit.
As the Tiger defense gets settled back in their position,
Hugh steps to the mound now quickly into the wind
up a chopper on the first pitch to Stewart to
(01:26:07):
the third baseman Clendman, and he puts out Stewart for
the first out of the inning.
Speaker 4 (01:26:13):
That's a nice bouncer there for the third basement. Nice
hop for him, and throws across to get the first
out of the inning.
Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
The designated hitter, Blake Pain will come out with one
out here in the bottom of the fifth, lefty now
facing Hughes, swinging on the first pitch was lined down
the left side, but that's gonna be foul. It's like
(01:26:45):
seeing Trace is trying to be aggressive, jumping on the
first pitches of Hughes the O one and breaking ball
on the outside. That'll be a ball, one ball, one
strike with one out here and the bottom of the
fifth one one, it's in there first called strike.
Speaker 4 (01:27:08):

That's where Hughes is aiment.
Speaker 2 (01:27:49):

Now you just gotta make sure you don't get caught
on the base pass with an out.
Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
Now coming to the plate for Zane Trace is the
catcher Quinton Allen.
Speaker 4 (01:28:24):
Allen Allen grounded out to shortstop, back into third inning.

and Bridges.
Speaker 3 (01:30:51):
So the heart of the order for Ironton here in
the sixth inning. There you're going again, gutter.
Speaker 4 (01:30:57):
McCall has really done a good job of battling through
the listen, only giving up the one run. He's had
a couple of strikeouts last inning.

Really looked like mccallaugh settled in back in that fifth inning, he's.

successful stoolen.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Base looked like a hit and run scenario because it
wasn't a great pitch, but Hughes took a swing at it.
Be two one ball and no strikes to Hughes, runner
on second now with no outs, breaking ball was in
there for collg strike three.
Speaker 3 (01:34:42):

free pass for the first baseman.
Speaker 4 (01:38:13):
Phil y'all, you're head one and two there, and now
you give up a base on balls. Actually, that's a
first base on balls by McCullough tonight. He did hit
a bat or batter earlier, but first base on balls
the third.
Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
Basement ten Or Kliman stepping in for Iron ten, two outs,
with runners on first and second, chopper over the head

infield single for Kliman, and the bases are loaded for
(01:38:55):
the second baseman, Carson Freeman.
Speaker 3 (01:38:57):
With two outs here in the south of the sixth. Yeah,
that was a really tough chopper.
Speaker 4 (01:39:02):
It wasn't hit overly hard, but it was a bouncer
that McCullough couldn't reach.
Speaker 3 (01:39:08):
It goes over his head and Stewart had to come
a long way to make that play in. Just too late.
Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
Mccaulla comes set, breaking ball, high, one ball, no strikes.
They got nowhere to put him here. He got two
outs the bases loaded with one ode to Freeman and

Zane Trace will be the eight nine one hitters of Lane, Stauffer,
and Hartley. Back on the mound for Ironton is Jacob Hughes.
He's giving up one hit so far, scoreless through five innings.
(01:42:02):
Ever since the first inning, US is really settled in.
It's missing some off speed pitches in the first, but
ever since it's made quick work of Zane Trace.
Speaker 3 (01:42:19):
You get the final warm up throws in.
Speaker 5 (01:42:23):
We'll have the rightfielder, Preston Lane stepping in for Zaane Trace.
Speaker 4 (01:42:30):
Up your Zame Trace, you're running out of that bet.
You got two left here to try to get one
run across the tie this thing up and two runs
across to take the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:42:47):
Lane.
Speaker 5 (01:42:49):
Preston Lane stepping in for Zayme Trace. Just one one
hit so far for Zaane Trace.
Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
In this one Hughes out of the wind, up.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
The livers high and inside the lane, ducked his head
out of the way or that one was probably going
off his helmet.
Speaker 3 (01:43:18):
Yeah, that came behind him when he ducked down. It
ended up being behind his head.
Speaker 5 (01:43:23):
One to zero swinging strike from lane.
Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
Saint Trace.
Speaker 4 (01:43:29):
They've only had one inning where they had more than
three batters come to the plate.
Speaker 9 (01:43:33):
So.
Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
One to one, bastball outside for a ball, two balls
and a strike.
Speaker 3 (01:43:38):
Now it's time for them to have an extended ending.
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
Here Hughes out of the wind up the livers, swinging
foul straight back to the back stop.
Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
Two balls and two strikes.
Speaker 2 (01:43:58):
Now to the lead off in here in the bottom
of the sixth, Hughes delivers shopper down the left side.
That'll be foul, so we'll do the two to two
once more. Hughes deliver swinging strike. Three.
Speaker 5 (01:44:27):
Ughes sits down the first here in the bottom of
the sixth.
Speaker 4 (01:44:33):
Hughes after that first in and his control and his
command has been exceptional.
Speaker 2 (01:44:40):
The nine hole hitter, the left fielder, Jacob Stauffer, up
to bat for Zane Trace. First pitch is going to
be a called strike on the outside. As the ball
went right by the catcher and all the way to
the backstop. Hughes has six strikeouts on the evening. The
(01:45:10):
o one to staffer be high and outside, one ball,
one strike. Now the one to one is in the dirt,
gets by the catcher's setting two balls one strike to
(01:45:30):
stall for one out here in the bottom of the sixth,
Hughes out of the wind up delivers inside called a strike,
evens a count two balls and two strikes with one
out here in the bottom of the sixth, quickly back
(01:45:53):
to the plate is huge chopper right back to Hughes.
He catches it and throws it over to first base
for the second out of the inning.
Speaker 3 (01:46:04):
Shows you how much he's in control. He just unfazed
by that.
Speaker 4 (01:46:09):
He just calmly waited for it to get to him
and then calmly threw it over to first base.
Speaker 2 (01:46:15):
Lineup, turns over for his aying trays. Now as the
center fielder, Mason Hardly steps in.
Speaker 4 (01:46:22):
Let off the game with a base on balls, but
was caught off of first base.
Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
Second time up, he struck out.
Speaker 2 (01:46:30):
First ball high and outside, one ball, no strikes, and
they check swing that fouled straight back to the backstop.
Speaker 5 (01:46:44):
Even to count one ball and one strike to Hartley.
Speaker 2 (01:46:51):
The one one to be outside two balls in a
strike now to Hartley with two ounce. Here in the
bottom of the sixth Ironton on top of Zain trace
one to nothing. You're in a district semi final action.
Speaker 5 (01:47:12):
Hughes out of the wind up for the two to
one squaring bunt is gonna go foul down the first
base side. Now it'll be two balls and two strikes
to Hartley.
Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
Trying to make something happen there for his team and
just wasn't able to get that down in fair territory.
Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
Two balls and two strikes with two ounce to Hartley.
Hughes two to two was in the dirt. The count
runs full. Three balls and two strikes, tip foul straight
(01:48:02):
back to the netting, so we'll do the three to
two once again.
Speaker 5 (01:48:15):
He was ready for the three to two, deliver.

Zane Trace and Ironton. Ironton's on top of Zane Trace

The winner of advance to play Minford tomorrow in the
District Finals. Back here at Ohio University.
Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
Start time on that one will be two pm.
Speaker 4 (01:49:37):
Gunner mccallis still on the mound for Zane Trace. So
he's gone well six innings so far. He's got seven strikeouts,
one walk and one hits.
Speaker 3 (01:49:45):
Batsman.
Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
He's giving up six runs or I'm sorry, six hits,
only one run.
Speaker 2 (01:49:52):
It'll be the three oh sorry, it'll be the nine
to one to two hitters for Ironton to do up
here in the seventh to be the third time Owen
Gallion is the leadoff hitter as the nine hole hitter
in this game, and Ironton left the bases loaded in
the last inning.
Speaker 4 (01:50:09):
They've left seven runners on base here in this game.
We look at the other side in trace has only
left one runner on base.
Speaker 3 (01:50:24):
Gallion.
Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
Gallion steps in to face mccallaugh as we start the
seventh inning. Call it delivers strike on the first pitch
to Galion. No balls in a strike.
Speaker 4 (01:50:39):
Saint Trey's opening on one through two three inning here,
get back up and see if they can't tie this
game up or take the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:50:47):
In the bottom of the seventh.
Speaker 5 (01:50:49):
The one swinging chop to the left side oiler to
play it.
Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
Long throw over the first is not going to be
in time, and it was slightly off target as Wilson
came off the bag to receive it. So that'll be
an infield hit to start the inning for Gallion.
Speaker 4 (01:51:06):
And again that was deeper, yeah, third base, that ball
almost right over.
Speaker 3 (01:51:11):
Top of the bag.
Speaker 4 (01:51:12):
And by the time Ordlers set himself, he had a
long throw to make and he just couldn't get it done.
Speaker 2 (01:51:18):
Now, stepping in for Ironton, this center fielder Brayden Baker
College checks over at first on Gallion, who's back in safely.
Speaker 4 (01:51:33):
Baker no hits officially, he reached base fighting air back
in the third, and he scored the lone run in
this game.
Speaker 5 (01:51:41):
First pitch is in the dirt, taking off from first,
his Gallion, and he's gonna make it into second safely
as the ball in the dirt got away from Allen.
So a runner at second base for Ironton Now no
(01:52:01):
outs here in the top of the seventh.
Speaker 4 (01:52:04):
Yeah, once again they got a runner a second with
no outs. Last time, Saint trace able to get out
of that.
Speaker 11 (01:52:11):
Jam.
Speaker 2 (01:52:15):
The one o to Baker high and inside. Two balls
and no strikes. Now a call it comes set.
Speaker 3 (01:52:36):
Checks on.
Speaker 2 (01:52:36):
Gallon now delivers home ground ball to second. Kaiser over
to play it on to first for the first out
of the inning. Gallion moves up ninety feet. He's standing
on third base now with one out in the inning.
Speaker 4 (01:52:53):
A nice piece of hitting there, getting the runner over
from second to third. Hitting, uh, you know, to the
right side. Now you've got to bring the infield in
with only one out.
Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
Shortstop Bryson kerns in now swinging strike one on the
breaking ball.
Speaker 4 (01:53:14):
Now, this would be a nice spot to have a
strikeout here if you're Gun or McCullough.
Speaker 2 (01:53:21):
McCullough comes set now, back's off as he wants to
redo the signs with Allen Gallon with his lead off
first oiler not holding him on. He plays on the grass.
Mccallugh coming set now delivers the one in the way,
(01:53:45):
gets away from Allen and coming in.
Speaker 3 (01:53:48):
The score is gonna be Gallion.
Speaker 4 (01:53:52):
Yeah, that's a huge run on a wild pitch there,
give them an inchurch run now up to nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:54:06):
Two nothing irons and on top here and the top
of the second seventh one ball, one strike, two cerns
with one out here in the inning, past ball on
the outside part of the zone for a strike, one ball,
two strikes now to the short stop curns. Confusion between
(01:54:38):
Alan and McCallin now is now they're going to have
a conversation at the mountain. Looks like they were had
to mix up with signals and cause McCalla to step off.
Speaker 3 (01:54:51):
You would think after six innies there would be no
mix up in signals here. But again, you want to
make sure you get.
Speaker 4 (01:54:58):
A couple more outs here, get your team back up
to bat with no more runs coming across.
Speaker 2 (01:55:08):
Alan takes the spot behind home plate. Mccaulla, come and
set on the mount, one ball, two strikes and that
breaking balls in there for a called strike three and
now it'll be a strike out for the second out
of the inning.
Speaker 3 (01:55:26):
I believe that's strikeout number eight for Gunner here tonight.
Speaker 5 (01:55:33):
Now batting for Iron ten is the catcher Ethan Sutton.
Speaker 4 (01:55:39):
Sutton's got two hits to night, two for three on
the evening, got the RBI back in the third inning.
Speaker 5 (01:55:47):
Sutton calls time.
Speaker 2 (01:55:49):
Now backs out of the box two miles here and
the seventh Ironton able to play one run so far,
extending their lead by two runs. Mccaull it comes set now,
delivers breaking ball high and outside, one ball, no strikes
(01:56:13):
to Sutton. The one to zero swung on skyde in
the infield Kaiser calling for and he'll make the play
for the final out of the inning. We're heading to

don't get two runs, this will be your season. And
again they got to do it against a pitcher who
is on fire right now. Only seed Or We've only
had five Pioneers reach base via some walks, hits, bats
(01:58:00):
in fielder's choice, but only have stranded one runner, so
some base running errors and things like that. They've only
got one hit off of Hughes in the sixth inning
so far that he has worked.
Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
Coming to bat for the Pioneers here in the bottom
of the seventh, it'll be the two three four hitters
of Kaiser, mccallaughy, and Oiler.
Speaker 5 (01:58:26):
So the guys you want coming to the play for
Zane Trace.
Speaker 3 (01:58:30):
Yeah, but you got to get a run around here.
Speaker 4 (01:58:32):
You're down by more than one run, so it's going
to take some base runners here if you're Zane Trace,
and uh, you've got to come up or ready to go,
because I think you're going to see a lot of
fastballs here if you're Zane Trace. Kaiser's been on two
times here tonight. This is third at bat hip batsman
(01:58:54):
or a hit by a pitch back in the first
inning and a base hit.
Speaker 3 (01:58:58):
In the second innings.
Speaker 5 (01:58:59):
Then hit for Zane Trace today.
Speaker 2 (01:59:02):
Yeah, back in the forth inded, I should say, Hughes
ready to start the seven and it's in there for strike.
Ever since the first inning, Hughes has been quick on
the mound once again.
Speaker 5 (01:59:15):
Back to the play.
Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
Inside and that hits Kaiser again.
Speaker 5 (01:59:20):
There you go, man, it's the base runners you needed.
Speaker 4 (01:59:28):
I guess it's personal between Kaiser maybe hit twice, but
like I said, he's been hit more than any Pioneer
of this season.
Speaker 2 (01:59:38):
Now banning the pitcher Gunner McCallum, Conference Player of the
Year for the Pioneers.
Speaker 3 (01:59:47):
Hughes check sawn.
Speaker 2 (01:59:48):
Kaiser now delivers falls down as he delivered that one.
Speaker 5 (01:59:54):
It wasn't a bad pitch.
Speaker 4 (01:59:56):
It was just high and inside, but a ball nonetheless
in artificial surface here.
Speaker 3 (02:00:03):
There's no dirt there on the mound, so I'm not
sure what happened there.
Speaker 5 (02:00:08):
He's coming set checks on.
Speaker 2 (02:00:10):
Kaiser now delivers nearly falls down again, and that one
was really.
Speaker 5 (02:00:14):
High in inside on mccallaugh, who got out of the way.
Speaker 4 (02:00:17):
Catcher's gonna walk on out there. Know what they need
to look at there? I don't know if it's his shoes.
Speaker 5 (02:00:25):
Is two malls and no strikes to mccallaugh, just a
quick mound meeting from the catcher sudden as he makes
his way back behind the plate. Now two malls, no strikes,
no outs.
Speaker 2 (02:00:45):
Here in the bottom of the seventh base runner Kaiser
at first mccallough representing the tying run at the plate.
Speaker 3 (02:00:56):
The two to zero that's in there for a strike.
You got nothing wrong with that delivery there.
Speaker 2 (02:01:08):
Hughes sent for the two to one that's inside a ball.
Three balls in a strike now to McCalla. Kaiser leads
off at first the three ones tip fouled by mccallough.
Speaker 5 (02:01:31):
Runs the count full three balls and two strikes.
Speaker 4 (02:01:37):
Yeah, a good comeback here by Hughes after those first
two pitches that this at bat struggled with it.
Speaker 2 (02:01:47):
Hughes comes sent for the three to two now deliver
swinging hit high in the right field, deep calling running back,
makes it.
Speaker 4 (02:01:56):
Over the shoulder grab to put out a collar. You
could tell he was struggling out there for that one,
but he was able.
Speaker 3 (02:02:06):
To make that catch.
Speaker 2 (02:02:10):
And Ironton faithful loves the effort of the right Fillion
Galleon as that was a loud first out of the
inning from McCalla.
Speaker 4 (02:02:23):
Gets over his head there. He'd definitely maybe get a
run on that. McCullough could have been on third.
Speaker 2 (02:02:32):
The third baseman Lucas Oiler stepping in now for Zane
Trinx one out here in the bottom of the seventh,
Hughes swinging strike one the oiler. Yeah, he's got Oiler
both times on strikeouts. No balls in a strike. That
(02:02:57):
pitch is in there for a strike quickly in an
O two hole is Oiler use checks on Kaiser now
comes set now delivers and a swinging strike three for
the second out of the inning. Fion Ears are down
(02:03:20):
to their final out as the shortstop Grady Stewart steps
into the box.
Speaker 3 (02:03:26):
It's a seventh strikeout for us tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:03:38):
Used now gets to the rubber, gets the sign from Sutton,
checks on Kaiser, come sett now delivers breaking ball in
there for a strike. No, ball's in a strike to
(02:03:58):
Grady Stewart. Used livers That gets by the catcher sudden
as it was into the dirt, and Kaiser moves up
ninety feet now standing on second base.
Speaker 3 (02:04:12):
Yeah the end.
Speaker 4 (02:04:13):
He started very promising getting Kays are on base after
he got hit by a pitch and McCullough drove one
deep into the right field. But great catch by Gallion
and now a strikeout of Oiler. Down to your last out.
Speaker 2 (02:04:31):
Hughes gets the sign from Sutton as Stuart calls time. Geah,
there's himself and steps right back in the box. Hughes
gets his No, he's gonna get another visit from his
catcher Sutton as they may have had a mix up
(02:04:54):
with signals. Haven't had to use the combinations signals much today.
With not many base runners for Zane Trace reaching second base.
Speaker 5 (02:05:08):
And now we're all set. Something gets back behind home plate.
Speaker 4 (02:05:12):
Tell you what, I'm not sure what the mix up is,
but if I'm huge, I'm throwing number one.
Speaker 2 (02:05:23):
To Use now gets the signs and comes set checks
on Kaiser now delivers swinging foul ball straight back behind
the grand stand here and now it's one ball and
two strikes with two outs here in the bottom of
the seventh.
Speaker 3 (02:05:42):
The Ironton faithful to their feet one under. Their last
strike is Zane.
Speaker 2 (02:05:50):
Trace used comes set now delivers swinging strike three.
Speaker 3 (02:05:56):
And that I'll do it for this one.
Speaker 2 (02:05:58):
As Ironton comes out on top of Zame Trees two
to one here in the District semi finals. They'll move
on to the District finals to play men for tomorrow
here at Ohio.
Speaker 3 (02:06:10):
University game time around two o'clock.
Speaker 2 (02:06:15):
We'll take a quick break and be back to wrap

school baseball here on ninety four Country WKKJ.

only to get kicked in the gut and feel like
a failure. Hey, it's gen Conny with Homelands by Jen.
That exact thing happened to Whitney and Adam. They listened
to their loan officer. They did everything he said to do,
only to be told no at closing day. Then Whitney
heard me talking to y'all in the radio and decided
to take another chance. After working a quick plan for approval,

Speaker 5 (02:07:06):
Welcome back to Ohio University District semi final action between
Zane Trace and Ironton, where Ironton comes out on top
from the final score of two to nothing for Zane Trace.
Speaker 3 (02:07:21):
They fall to nineteen and ten on the year.
Speaker 2 (02:07:24):
They were thirteen to one in the SVC SVC champions
Ironton they move on.
Speaker 5 (02:07:30):
They'll be They'll play tomorrow in the district finals.
Speaker 2 (02:07:33):
They're seventeen and six now on the year as they
face Minford tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (02:07:39):
Yeah, and again you nothing to hang your head about
your Zane Trace. You get a leaked title. You had
a successful year, but uh just wasn't in for the tournament.
Great pitching by Houston night by Ironton. You look at
his line to I seven inns, pitch, one hit, no runs,
three base on actually one base on balls, two hits batsman,
(02:08:02):
and eight strikeouts for Hughes. After that first inning, Zane
Trace just couldn't solve him because he just took command
on the mound.
Speaker 3 (02:08:11):
On the other end, you look at McCaulay. He did
a great job on the mount as well.
Speaker 4 (02:08:15):
He went seven innings, give up seven hits, two runs,
neither run was earned, one base on balls, and eight
strikeouts for Gunna mcculloughy. He got out of quite a
few jams there throughout the game by getting some key strikeouts.
Speaker 3 (02:08:30):
You look at the.
Speaker 4 (02:08:32):
Line out there on the scoreboard, Ironton, two runs, seven hits,
no airs, seven runners left on base. As I said,
McCullough stranded quite a few runners out there tonight and
Zane Trace no runs, only the one hit, two airs
and they left two on base. So again a good
baseball game here when you look at it, but unfortunately
(02:08:56):
for Zane Crasey did not come out on top.
Speaker 3 (02:08:59):
Yeah, we talked about Hughes.
Speaker 2 (02:09:01):
We weren't sure with his stats only twenty four innings
pitched this year, but you know, with the thirty eight
strikeouts and what we saw at a point eight six eer,
we weren't exactly sure what we were going to see
from him.
Speaker 3 (02:09:14):
But he was lights out.
Speaker 4 (02:09:16):
Yeah, right after that first ending, like I said, he
really settled in there and he controlled this game from
that mound. And great job and best luck to Ironton
as they move on. Talk about Zane Trace. You know,
you have some seniors on this team that playing their
last baseball game and seniors that are playing.
Speaker 3 (02:09:34):
Their last athletic contest.
Speaker 4 (02:09:36):
For Zane Trace, who's had pretty successful careers at Zane Trace.
Speaker 2 (02:09:40):
Yeah, I want to give a take a moment here
to talk about Gunner mccallaugh. In the senior season. He's
put in for all three sports he's played this year.
That's a guy that had his name in the player
of the Year conversation in every sport. He did win
the District Player of the Year in basketball and then
one in the District and Conference Player of the Year.
Speaker 3 (02:10:02):
And baseball this year.
Speaker 2 (02:10:05):
Just an outstanding senior campaign for Gunner McCall.
Speaker 4 (02:10:09):
Yeah, he's been a joy to watch throughout his career
and even better than an athlete.
Speaker 3 (02:10:16):
He's a great kid.
Speaker 4 (02:10:18):
We've interviewed him multiple times and every time you hear
him speak, you're just impressed with that.
Speaker 3 (02:10:23):
So that bodes well.
Speaker 4 (02:10:24):
And I know he's going to go on and do
something and it's probably going to be great at it.
And like I said, it's just been a pleasure to
watch him play whatever sport.
Speaker 2 (02:10:34):
It has been a nineteen and ten year four Zane
Trace a SVC title.
Speaker 5 (02:10:41):
Nothing to hanging their hats. You have the other seniors there,
I don't have a full roster in front of me,
all right, we can go down through those.
Speaker 4 (02:10:50):
Noah Kaiser, Grady Stewart and Gunner McCall and Lucas Oiler.
Those are the four seniors playing their last baseball game
for Zane Trace. So best luck to those young men
as they go on in their lives. And again, it's
been a pleasure to watch. And thanks to coach Ron
Allen for all he's done. Also, Trevor Thomas, the ad
(02:11:11):
at the Idea at NAIN Tracy was also assistant coach
here for baseball. But again, thank you for everybody here
at oh you for allowing us to come down here
in this great facility. Chris has been wonderful here this week.
It's been a tough week for you and I, but
you know we've made it through.
Speaker 3 (02:11:31):
Well.
Speaker 2 (02:11:31):
I think that'll do it for us here at Ohio
University again. We can't thank you all enough for your
patience tonight, as we didn't get this one started until
about two hours after this scheduled start time. Can't thank
Sydney enough for sticking it out with us again, another
late night for her, but she does a wonderful job
(02:11:51):
and keeps us in line for sure for a coach
for myself for Sydney. Back in the studio, we thank
you all for watching high school baseball.
