Well, welcome everyone, and good evening here. It's a nice
sungengrinch evening here at Zane Trace High School where we
have high school baseball and the Zane Trace Pioneers against
the west Fall Mustangs as they get ready to take
the field here and Jeff, we got the league leaders

(00:35):
and the Zane Trace Pioneers getting ready to play and
they have a two game lead over Union with two
games to go that they win the league outright, yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
And talking to the coaches down there, they're very excited
for this game. They're locked in, they're ready to go.
They don't want it to go to the next game.
They want to get it done today. And I think
they're going to have a little tough time with west Fall.
West Fall maybe a little bit better than their record says,
but they hit the baseball looking at their stats here,
so anything can happen on a baseball game, and we
know that.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Well. Yeah, and this is a game where earlier in
the season they played up at west Fall. It was
a eleven to five ball game that Zane Trace came
away with the win. And as you said, this West
Fall team has played some of the top teams in
the league very well. I had a good game with
Unioto both times played this same Trace team very well.

(01:27):
And this team has been able to hit the baseball
pretty well and get pretty good pitching. But this same
Trace team, as you said, they won a league title
in football. They were second. Basketball they were second, and
a lot of these guys played those two sports. Now
they get a chance to win the league out right

(01:47):
here tonight on their home field against the West Fall Mustangs. Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
McCullough sounded like he wanted to get the ball today.
He wanted to get it done. He's the senior. He
wants the ball in his hand when the game is
on the line, when the titles on the line.

And like you said, they want to get this done.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
They haven't won it since twoenty twenty four, so they're
ready to get back and be the league.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Champions of baseball.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah. And as you said, Gunner McCalla is going to
take the mound for the Zane Trace Pioneers. I believe
Gunner mccallo took the mound last Friday, UH in their
win against Paynton Valley and I believe he went went
the distance in that game, or at least pitched six
innings in that game, gave up two hits in one run.
And boy, I'll tell you what the Pierce manson last

Thursday in the game against Uniodo that we had here
on w KKJ, Pierce pitched a wonderful game in that
too nothing win over Unioedo. So this team has multiple
guys who can go out there and be the ace
on the hill, and tonight we're gonna see he can
Gutter McCullough.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, Pierce was a great pitcher out there. We listened
to the game on WKKJ. Talking to coach Lee Master
before the game about Gunna mccallough, he said that he's
got four pitches that are rolling. He's gonna be tough
to hit. Now, he can't have some issues. If he
only has one pitch going, maybe he can give up
some hits. But that's when you've got to rely on
your defense to make plays behind you.

And the best defense is great for a pitcher.

You know that they got your back and so you
just gotta throw strikes and trust them to get the outs.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
West Fall, the visitors will bat first here tonight. They
have a record nine to seven overall, six and six
in the SBC. Zane Trace comes in fourteen and six
overall and eleven and one in the SBC. Looking at
the lineup for the west Fall Mustangs, batting first will
be Brendan Bigler. He will play shortstop, betting second, Rick Hanley.

He will be the third baseman. Pitching for west Fall
will be Cash Conrad, He'll bat third. In the lineup,
we'll have aj Pluta Or batting cleanup will be aj Plue.
He will be the first baseman. Caleb low In's second base,
Kayden Adams, then Kaylin Kayln or I'm sorry, Caleb, Henry,

Bryden Collins will bet and Austin Gear will beat ninth.
So again that'll be Bigler, Handley, Conrad, Pluta, Lowe, Adams,
Henry Collins and Gear for the west Fall Mustangs. Defensively
for these ain't Trace Pioneers. At the first base will
be Jared Wilson. The second baseman is Noah Kaiser. Grady

Stewart will be shortstopping. Lucas Oiler will be the third baseman.
Catching tonight will be Quentin Allen and around the outfield
will be Jacob Staffer and left, Mason Hartley and center,
and Preston Lane will be the right fielder here tonight.
As we get ready for this game to get started,
Brendan Bigler steps in and Gunner mccallaugh with the first pitch,

it's a little bit inside. That'll one ball and no strikes.
Second pitch by Gunner McCalla is gonna be low and
that's two and ohero on the leadoff hitter, Brendan Bigler.

Brendan is batting three p forty on the season. Brendan
is a junior.

Very good golfer as well.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
There, Gunner McCullough's pitch going to be a dribbler to
the third baseman. Third baseman gets an oiler, throws over
to first base. That is the five to three put
out to start the game.

Yep, a little bit of a bobble there by Oiler,
but he stayed with it and made the play.

Got him by a step.

We are down the first baseline here in the actual
football press box, so we are up above the action
and away from the crowd a little bit. And if
the elements too coming to play tonight were set, Rick
Hanley now steps into third baseman mccalla's first pitch to Hanley,
that's going to be a strike. Nice breaking ball there. Yeah,

we saw the other night on Thursday with both pitchers
did a great job getting the ball or staying ahead
of the heditors, not getting behind. And they had.

Very few walks.

I believe both both pitchers only had one hits. Batsman
Gonna mccalla's second pitch, gonna be a little ball outside.
Hanley was able to check swing there, so it'll be
one in one here as we look out over the
field here at Zane Trace High School, they got the
big hill here from center field over to right field

h and then the school off the left field fence.

I like how the cars park in the outfield, they
pull up and back in there so they can see
the action.

That'll be a strike called one and two. Now on Henley,
we're in the top of the first inning, no score,
one out seeing tracing their home white pants and red tops.
That's going to be foul down the third base line

got to have a couple of uniforms home way and
maybe an alternate.

Yeah, these kids now got as many uniforms combinations as
you can make.

That's what's cool. Kinna mccollor with the sign pitch, that's
a foul ball right at home plate. Quintin Hellen did
a good job picking it up, tagging a round or
just to see. But the umpires said, that'll be a
foul ball. We're going to stay here, right Kenna McCullough

now is still ahead one and two on Rick Hanley
and the pitch that'll be low two and two in
better number two of this game a game and with
Saint Trey's hopes to wrap up the league title and

west Fall would love to play spoiler. That'll be a
base hit goes through a shortstop. It's in the left

Yeah, we've had some rain here recently, but the ground
is really hard. As I walked out there to get
some lineups, the infield is very hard out there. So
that'll bring up Cash Conrad, the pitcher in tonight's game
for west Fall. He's a lepty. First pitch by gunner McCullough,

Cash tries to bunt that one. That'll be a strike
called Cash Conrad batting three twenty one on the season,
Ohen won the count. Pitch number two is going to

be fouled off down right behind him. That'll be two
strike count on Conrad. Runner down at second as Hanley,
after his double, gets a sign, takes a look at
Handley at second base and now the pitch that's fouled

One and two the count on Cash Conrad again, we're
in the first inning. Runner on second for west Fall.
That's Handley after his double. McCullough gets a sign, looks
at Hanley. Now back to the plate, pitch fly ball
to center field. Mason Hartley going back, makes the catch

and we get a tag on the runner at Handley
he's going to go to third base after that catch.
But a nice job thereby Hartley of gauging that good
hit ball to center field.

Yeah, that was a tough play right into the sun.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
He was looking and if you notice how in Zane
Tracey's field it kind of pitches up a little bit
because you're going up the hill out there, so kind
of lost his footing. But I'm sure he's played this
field well enough that he knows that it's there.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
He knew what he was doing. Yeah, from centerfield around
to right field, that field slopes up towards a hill that's.

Going to be bouncer the first base.

First baseman is going to take it on his own
and that'll be out number three. So even though they
had a double in that ending, no run scored, one hit,
one man left on base. So after a half ending

to the bottom of the first inning. The Pioneers come
to the plate for the first time. The lineup is
as follows. Mason Hartley will lead off. He's a center fielder.
Noah Kaiser plays second base. Noll bat second. Gonna recall
the pitcher we'll bet third. Lucas Euler the third baseman,

we'll beat clean up, Grady Stewart short stop we'll beat fifth.
Bryson Payne will be the designated hitter tonight. He will
be in the lineup spot of Preston Lane and that'll
be the sixth spot. Quentin Allen will bat seventh, Jaron Wilson,
the first baseman, will bat eighth, and Jacob Stoffer, the

left fielder, will bat ninth. That's Hartley, Kaiser, mccallaugh, Euler, Stewart, Payne, Allen, Wilson,
and Staffer.

shortstop Brendan Biggler. Rick Hannley will play third base. Conrad

Looks like he's a He's a left handed pitcher, looks
like he can throw fast balls, has a little bit
of a breaking ball as well. So let's see if
the Zain Trace Pioneers can get on base and score
some runs here and put some pressure in the first inning.

Yeah, Conrad is the most pitched innings pitch for this

Now is Noah Kaiser. Noah Kaiser steps in betting. Second
first pitch is a strike. Kaiser betting three zero three
on the year. Again. He and Mason Harley are the
table setters for the same trace team little tapper down
to the first baseline. First baseman gets it and is
right on the base basically, so Pluta takes it all

Off, as I was saying, it's kind of tough to
get that read as a left handed pitcher. But Gunner
very experienced runner out there. He saw, he saw the
first two pitches, got his cadence, and then he took off.

here tonight. Another thing about Ron Allen, he has over
five hundred wins, five hundred and sixty four wins as
a baseball coach at is tremendous.

Yeah, that's that's a heck of a job that he's
done here with this program. I know that the Waverley
coaches passed five hundred wins as well, So that's that's
no that you're doing things right at a program. If
you're here for twenty five years, that means the administration,
everybody at the community likes you here and you're doing
something right.

When you get five hundred wins.

Yeah, and you don't see that very You're not going
to see that very much anymore in high school sports
with coaches staying around for a long time just because of.

But Ron Allen one of those guys that have been
around for a while, and I think he's probably you know,
you look at it and you're thinking, probably towards the
end of his career here soon. But again, a great coach,
great educator, and great person.

Yep, and you're doing something for twenty five years. That
means you got a lot doing it. So I think
that he likes spending time with the kids out there,
and he likes seeing them grow as men. So I
think that he's done a tremendous job here.

Speaking of that aDNA baseball team, that's the only one
to defeat this Zane Trace earlier in the season. That's
our only loss in the league. Would be a ball
outside that should be two and two on the batter.

Gunner McCollen.

The pitch bouncer to third baseman off his glove. It
goes out of in the foul territory, still being chased.
He thinks about going to second, but Caleb Blow will
say it first. So that was a hard hit round
ball that sort of ate up the third baseman. That'll
be a base hit for Caleb Low. Yeah.

Low kind of hesitated there at first base.

I don't know if he got confused with Sphether coach
was saying, but if he was hustling all the way,
he could have easily had second base.

So two innings, two hits for Westfall. Stepping in now
for west Fall is going to be Kayden Adams, the catcher.
Adam comes in batting two eighty nine on the year,
right hander bunts. It's a nice bunt fielded by Gunner McCulloch.

He throws the first base for the out, but that
sacrifice moves Caleb to second base.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
Great bun right down the line, have a chance to
beat it out. Gunner made a great playfield it no
hesitation going to first base.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
So the second time they had a runner reached second
base here in as many innings for west Fall, and
that will bring Caleb Henry, the center fielder, up with
one out and a runner at second base.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
So far west Falls squared the ball up pretty well.
See if they can find some more holes and get
some runs in.

Caleb Henley wows a rocket right to Grady Stewart. He
had to jump just a little bit, but it was
right at him. Then that's gonna be out number two.

West Fall's coming out swinging first pitch. They're ready to
hit the ball.

Henry was batting three to ten on the year. So
now stepping in with two outs, runner at second base
is the d H Braden Collins lefty. It's going to
be a cold on the outside corner.

You look at the Westfall lineup and they all of
them are batting over are just barely below three hundred
for their batting average, so you know they can hit
the baseball.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
That's the ball outside one and one on Braiden Collins,
Gunner McCollough. The pitch laid on that one is Collins.
That'll be one and two now on him. Really fold

on that last pitch, Gunnar mccallough. Now with the one
two pitch outside as well. Two and two now on
Braiden Collins. Cola looks at second base. Now the pitch straight,

So again we're in a reach second for Westfold, but

was Paint Valley as they were hosting Courthouse.

Okay, so the SVC softball must have wrapped up last
week as they had their seating last weekend, So I

They're all Division four, whereas most of the SVC teams
are going to be in Division five and we will

I believe that I was all going to start when
we get to the districts SEMIS and that's roughly around

May twenty third, twenty fourth is where you will see
us come back on. We will be back on the
air next week on Monday when Unyota travels to Chillacathi
to take on the Cavaliers in a non league game.
As I said, the SVC is going to be wrapping
up this week on I believe Zane Trace has Circleville

tomorrow night in a non league game, but on Wednesday
they will wrap up the SVC with piked in. Westfall
plays tomorrow night against Fairfield Union and they wrap up
their sv season on Wednesday against Adina. That's all again
