Speaker 1 (00:15):
M u, I what about a daddy about run Broadcasting

(00:35):
live from Rocket Mortgage field House on the sunny shores
of beautiful Lake Erie. Vin Blake works on Amby Into
the Valley, Got two men in a year Back to
Darling and the shot like winding down and he drains
the trifle My goodness in downtown Cleveland. Hello Cleveland. Hello,

(00:56):
you've tuned in to Wine and Go Radio? Have sup
of that? Now? You're your host and Joe Gi Yeah,
Hey everybody, and welcome to another episode of Wine and
Gold Radio. Have we're bringing the polka back? Or guess

(01:18):
going with the regular wine and we're in the polka.
We gotta talk about that off the air, Okay, I'll
just be honest. I lost it lost Okay in Wine
I Go Radio. We'll eventually get back to the polka.
Welcome back to Wine and Gold Radio. This is I
think our final preseason episode of Wine and Gold Radio.

(01:39):
And you know what I have to talk about on
the real quick before we start. I just went to
make any McDonald's on the way here and they asked
me when I went through, do you want to round
up for Ronald McDonald's always always, don't you think more
businesses should do the round up for charity. That they
should instead of giving you change is making the offer

(02:02):
you can get changed. But every company I think should
do that. I love that regardless even if you're not
getting changed and you're paying with a credit card, that
you just wound it up, rounded up. I think that
that that should be. You have something against pennies. I
don't have anything against anything. I'm just saying that. I
in my senior year I did a study on on
the materials on coins of the U S coins and

(02:23):
the history about how all what they were made of. Yes,
I got a d in the program. I thought, you're
gonna tell me about like Superman too, where they like
they the halfpennies. Well I got I didn't get a
d M timeline, but it was my mechanics of materials
class and I was I spent a year studying. That's
why I get upset when people have when people say

(02:44):
something against pennies, a very interesting coin. I know I
have nothing against pennies. I have, but I want to
help charity donation. That what I'm saying wround the round up.
I think it should be a thing I vote for that,
especially when for the rodal McDonald house that I I'm
a member of the board here. I know you are.
I know here, you're the of a lot of boards. Hey,
you know what we were gonna We were gonna like

(03:04):
ease our way into the show and do our normal
kind of goof around and jerk around and stuff. But
we had a special guest and she's all, like I said,
she's all full of piston vinegar. So we can't. We could.
We were going to leave her in the green room,
but we can't. And then we also have on today's
show the debt, the debut of I'm Gonna try this,

(03:28):
Dodo Did I do it right? Yeah? You gotta be
and Dorado, which means the Golden Child, the Golden Boy.
They so welcome guys. So curly, who is what's your
job time? Social media coordinator? Social media coordinator? That means
you worked with the computer She works for the computer team,

(03:49):
and we're going to get more into that a little
bit later. And then the Golden Boy, he just does
he does whatever he wants on the computer team. He
just did whatever, what do you do? That's good. Golden
boy can do whatever you want. That's that's right. He's
kind of got the run of the computer team. Yeah,
I don't know about that. You're giving me too much.
So you guys are just fresh off interviewing a seasonal

(04:09):
you too young? Like what was that interview? Like? Did
that young person come in and look at you too
and be like I'm interview with these guys. I don't
think so. I mean I know what I'm doing to
Like did you grill him? Who is it a boy?
Or here's a girl? The way, it's a great opportunity
to be part of the team. It is because you
were writing and we talked to Yeah, we talked it

(04:31):
up a bit. Yeah, I mean we have more candidates
coming to Okay, how they do? How this person do good? Good? Yeah? Keeper? Possibly?
What are the key? What are the key? Um? Yeah?
What do you? What are you? What are you looking for?
Like the vibes make vibes. We want the vibes of
the computer team, as you guys call it, to match

(04:51):
the vibes of the team on the court. I like
that and I agree with that because if you're gonna
bring this is a kind of job where you can't
bring a normal person, and you've got to have a
little bit of douche. You gotta have like, you gotta have,
you know, a good feeling about yourself. You've gotta be
you know, sociable and all that kind of stuff too,
because as a season like, we want the seasonal to do,

(05:12):
you know, what they're interested in and learn what they
want to learn, as opposed to kind of pigeonholing them
per se into overall like social media coordinator or a
digital content coordinator role, like, we want to help them
learn and grow and progress a little bit of everything. Yeah,
and that's why I like about you too, guys, and
that the season is long and it's hard, and it's

(05:33):
hard to keep up a good mood and keep up
a positive attitude. And both of you guys do that.
You're both really great at that. So how do you manage?
You know? Because I have found myself getting to a
lot of trouble even before I came to the cab
and social media, like a lot of those emails that
can you please take that down? And we are a

(05:53):
team that are pretty good about no getting into the
trolling and uh and the things like that talking are
you talking about from our personal accounts? No? No, no,
from the team because your creativity and your your vibe
is what gets out there, right, I mean, I mean
I think our whole thing is like competent, not cocky.

(06:14):
Know who we are, Be confident in our team, Be
confident our team who we are, Like we know we
can win any night out there, like put up our
our team against anybody. But also kind of like what
coach was saying at the end of the season, we
haven't done anything yet, so like also knowing that and

(06:37):
not going outside of our space, knowing our role. I've
seen some things they throw players were pretty we got
a little spicy last year, but try to keep it
like but then yeah, and you don't want to insult
other teams of dog other teams. I mean, you know
that's fun to have a little fun, but you don't
want to also back. That's that's the thing. You get

(07:00):
a burner account. Yeah, I'm gonna get a burner. It's
going to be not the real Rath. Yeah do that
let me good. So anyway it's gonna be And I
can't wait for that. Alight. We're thinking, how amazing with
a Wine and Gold radio ncensored version. I love that. Yeah, yeah,

(07:23):
what were we talking about? Just talking about Browns and
I had a couple of issues with fans, and we
have a lot of issues an issues guy, but it
would be nice to be able to express without really
my job on the line. Madison, are you the Are
you the Twitter cop where if I posted something, you'd
you'd be the one that says, hey, dude. I think

(07:45):
we have a lot of eyes on it. Okay, um,
like our social team in particular, we have all your
guys's notifications, one every time I posed something. But you're
watching that. Yeah. I think the company does a really
good job about staying up. And that's what I say.
I don't get too much into like the back and
forth because I always tend to lose, right. I might
reply one or two. You gotta do it with Michael

(08:06):
Reggae this weekend to me, don't mess with red Man
who is well, don't mess with him. I can tell
you I know who he is. You know what you know?
My grandmother always say, when you're gonna speak of somebody,
if he's he or she is absent, then just say
good thing. So let's just leave it at that, okay, Okay,
because you you need to be probably watched on Twitter,

(08:30):
I would think because you're you you like to beat
with people. No, but that's why I stay away from it,
and you don't you know. Then he said stay away
from it, Like, yeah, it's tweets, That's what I mean.
It's like, you're well, no, but they he pulled me
back into the mouth. Yeah. Another thing is like, but like,

(08:51):
for example, we were talking about Danovan Mitchell. We're gonna
get into Danovan Mitchell in depth in a little bit,
but like he tweeted about it, go Ohio State, and
that cheats you off. Yeah, but chees people that. For
people that don't know me and don't know my sense
of humor, which is not a normal one, they might
get upset. I cheese it about it because I know

(09:14):
he gets people going, you know what I mean, A
smart tweet, smart tweet. It's awesome. Part of it. That
part of it that I don't like is that. But
I'm the type of guy and I don't understand why.
It's like if if you and I are talking, I'll
poke yes and I'll throw salt in your would We're

(09:34):
talking about something and it's okay, there's nothing evil about it. No, No,
you're you're about social media. They automatically jump into the Yeah,
it's hard to get you and this and that and
you don't know anything. It's like it's hard on like
texting and just like anything over the internet to sometimes
catch the sarcastic great call, great call exactly. So if

(09:58):
you don't know me and you don't know how like
he calls me the provocateur because you do you like poking.
I like it, like I always said, like I always said,
if you work for the Pistons, you your state for sure,
you know what. I'm also able to take it. You are,
so yeah, you are. I'm okay with it. You know what.

(10:19):
You give it out. You have to be able to say.
But but it's like I never do it in a
way to like like that's why. That's why I don't
do it, because I can't take you like when you
tease Jimmy about the Red Sox. Yeah exactly, but I'll
always do that to a Red Sox fan, especially you
know about the course that I'm being or not being
all but just recycling thing is, don't ever show Ralph

(10:43):
for your button. Don't ever show him what you love,
because then he'll dog that hard. He does, he puts
so it's like he knows I love Springsteen. He just
dogs Springsteen in every turn. So but I don't like
Springsteen before. Yeah, I know, I can't believe somehow in
New York because okay, um, hey, we were we attended

(11:04):
the Guardians game on Monday night. Guards Guards first place,
Guards first place, Guardians cards. Hey, man, Cleveland, if anybody,
if if any Clevelanders listened, go down there, man, get
down to the game. It's it's it's empty. They need
we need some fans down there this weekend. Two tickets
for that's right, Minnesota. Yeah, five games day games Tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday,

(11:29):
like there's plenty of ye. Thursday is white. So yeah,
last night was a weird Monday night was a weird game.
And that two managers got thrown out without a pitch
being thrown. I've never seen I've never seen that, Okay
I have. I haven't been Cleveland that long. I mean
even before I got here though they were in the
World Series, Like I've seen Guardians for a while now.

(11:54):
Never seen Tito so mad. Yeah, he had to be
held back. He was mad. Even know what really, I don't,
But he got thrown out. Then the Angels manager got
thrown out he was. He was mad because Jimenez it
looked like got hit in the foot. That's I thought.
Tito held his hand up to like asked to be

(12:14):
held for you know, a review, while they look at it,
and it wasn't really granted. So they were getting ready
and then they brought they brought him. They brought Tito out,
which I thought was funny, but he did first, the
first of home plate umpire went to the first base
umpire who looked like a kid from the side. Yeah, yes,
I mean like a young kid. Yeah, the guy the
first base hump and they talked. So then he went

(12:36):
back to Tito and that's when Tito lost it. Angel
get thrown out. Then they all four got too good.
Tito got thrown out and then he started talking to
I don't know why Angel's manager got thrown out, but
he got thrown out. Then the Angel's picture came over
and he started yelling at the umpire what was the
Angel's picture there? Because of this such a long layoff,

(12:59):
he wanted to get warm up either he wanted to
and the ump stepped in front was like no, no,
like like we're getting ready to play, like let's go.
And and then the ump got hit in the face
man and then he got that same ump who threw
both managers out got hit with the foul ball in

(13:19):
the face and had to be replaced. Two strikes and
two night. Yeah, that that needs a weaken the traffic.
Like there was class as on the mound. Two outs,
two strikes, literally let him throw one more pitch and
they had to like stop the game to replace them.
He is not an easy job. So as long as
we're talking baseball, this is the last baseball thing. And

(13:41):
then we gotta get to Donovan Mitchell. We gotta get
to Kaz and Donovan Mitchell. But we talked about the
rule that we talked at Mitchell. We can, we can. Yes.
All I gotta say though, before you get to the rules.
Stephen Kwan Rookie of the Year. Love that. Yeah, he's
he might be my favorite guardian baltim it and go
back going back to social media, some dude poster that

(14:03):
he was the Dirk Jeter of this generation. Why I
was not, Yeah, that's not Quan fall I did not
say that. All I'm saying is Stephen Kuan Ricky of
the Year. I'd love it. He's such a great ball player.
I know, Tito ye silver slugger for you to stop

(14:27):
gold gloves Stephen Kuan, Rookie of the Year, gold Gloves
send it to Rawlings. Now, okay, thanks. Tito said it.
He said, if you're if you're a young kid watching
home or for your father and you have a young kids,
watch Stephen Kuan. That's how you play ball. And he said,
like in interviews, like it means so much to him
to be a represent representation to like both the Asian
community and kids who are like undersized, don't think they

(14:50):
could probably make it in baseball. Look it, yeah, do
it right, play hard, do it the right way. Yeah.
Basically the sport where you don't have to be the bigger. Yeah,
don't you just gotta play hard. Well, the other night Sunday,
he hit a home run. Look at whose m VP
man the guys five? He was that, why I do that? Playoffside?

(15:15):
So we're talking baseball rules real quick. We had to
talk baseball rules. I love two of the three. I
don't the bigger basis I kind of don't get, although
you can explain bigger bases. The shift, oh, Madison, So
this is I'm very hate this, very interested in this
because what are like creative teams like the Rays and

(15:36):
their manager Kevin Cash is very like the opener thing
and all this, like what is he as He's just
gonna like pull his left fielder over and sit him
like where the second baseman would play in the shift?
No shift? Sure, no, not play shortstop? Third place place
the rule. The rule is just stating infield places so
you can move around. I'll field guys to do, what

(15:58):
to do, what to play to play the softball shortstop.
So when you have a shift, you have the first Again,
if you want to take the guy you want to
take and put them out behind short stops out there,
say then, but they can't do that right now? So
what's is somebody really not being in left field going
to make them hit to left Field's true? Well, but
I mean the cost is if you hit the ball

(16:20):
to an empty left field, that's an automatic double, maybe
a triple. No that's an automatic home run an empty
left field. Either way. I hate to shift. I hate
to shift. I just don't like people are like, got
smart on defense, created a shift and you're just saying
like you are too smart, you can't do that. Yeah,
nobody wants to see it. I mean that's there's a
legal defense in the NBA for a reason. What do

(16:43):
you mean make better hitters? What do you make they
can't look look like I said, you know, no one look,
pictures are too good. But nobody wants to see lefties
slapping the ball down the third base line. They want
to see the line. Nobody wants that. Nobody wants that.
They want to see shortstops making great plays. That doesn't

(17:07):
happen anymore. Shortstops don't make great plays anymore because there's
in that stupid shift anyway, the uncensored version. Yeah, I
still think the mistakes that baseball is making. He's trying
to make the sport to appeal to fans that they

(17:28):
won't come even if the game lasts an hour and
a half. So this whole idea of making the game faster, okay,
I meandeed sometimes it's so I drove. I drove from
Independence to Kirtland in the span of the ninth inning
on Sunday, and what happened forty minutes. And what happened

(17:50):
was did a good long at back. It was a
horrible Tom Hamilton. Tom Hamilton's described James karen Check's happening
as laborious, and that's what it's like. It's laborious. It's
like pulling teeth when he's out there, Get get the
ball and pitch. Stop jerking around the hair search. That

(18:10):
was icuous. Yeah, that was ridiculous. So anyway, that's how
I feel. I feel. I just think I love the
game and I'm fine if they don't change anything, and
I'll keep watching. If they do the stupid two men
on second to start the ex training, I'll probably still
watch either way. But I don't like it. It's not
as fun. It's not as much fun. Little changes they
do make to make it faster will help, like pitch

(18:32):
clock and however else. But they already have a pitch clock.
They had it on last night. It's being chopped off
by like five seconds. With all I know is baseball
is going to be fine. Once the judge breaks the
American League record, I'm gonna see okay, and basically basically

(18:53):
has to. That's a perfect time to transition into basketball
right there. I think, just for you guys to lose
in the first round. Last thought though, is okay, I
agree with you, baseball will be fine. I don't think
it's the game. I think it's how it's marketed. So okay,

(19:16):
I'd like to hear more about that. Um, I think
like you only know like a few players, like the comment, like,
as a baseball fan, I know a lot of players,
but like your common sports fans are only going to
know a few big names in New York l A
like people that are putting us the face the league,
Like there was a stretch where like Tristan Mackenzie should

(19:36):
have been everywhere. Yeah stop actually like growing audiences, like
you have this young, fun black picture in Cleveland doing
crazy things and like I think it got like one post.
Are you talking about marketing baseball in general around the
country in Cleveland, around the country. Okay, I agree like

(19:58):
the sport because like like even for example, like I
don't even know Tristan Mackenzie is just so fun to watch.
There was a stretch where he was unbelievable great and
he's fun and the team is fun. Give me Bieber
and Mackenzie in a in a in a take two
of three playoff series, like but like no one knows

(20:20):
that if unless you're like baseball fan, like no one
knows they exist and even like one day, Um, I
like tweeted and was like people, like people need to
be talking about Tristan mackenzie more and like baseball fans
I knew replied and was like, oh shoot, like I'll
have to watch him. Yeah, and he's the Roberto Clemente
uh yeah, the two as well. Yeah, that's good. That's
a good point about baseball more just marketing players better,

(20:44):
like fun young guys coming up. I just think it's
kind of funny that last year, two years ago, they're
like playoff slogan was like let the kids play, or
their season slogan was let the kids play, and like
they just showed that, Like that was it. That's more
with the guys in that because they're so fun. Like
maybe it's because I'm an old guy, but when I

(21:04):
was younger, I knew the whole All Star starting lineups,
back and forth, up and down the last few years,
I don't know, do you know, maybe because you're younger,
you yeah, that's I think. I don't know. I know Tatiss,
I know the big names, but I don't know a
lot of the All Stars, and I feel like I
should know every All Star and you know what market
The scary part about that is that there wasn't There

(21:26):
wasn't even leaked pass or social media in those days
when you and I were watching, right and you're checking
the box score in the morning, you know, yeah, And
now it's like, yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I'm surprised.
Every y Look it's and judge Mike Trout show, Hey
of Tanny Tany deserves it. But they all deserve they

(21:47):
all deserve it. But you can extend. I totally agree
with that. I totally agree that that's the job of
you guys, the computer. The guardians do a great job, guardians.
Social media is phenomenal, a horrible job. Seriously, Like did
you see the other day they did zoom in on

(22:09):
Karen Check's hair and put the list. Yes, social media
is so funny. I agree that that was That was funny.
That was funny. So they gotta let must window. Yeah,
I think that this is This is my public campaign justice.
Mustard never wins and has never win. He hasn't won
all season. Let him win once. That's straight competitions, fixing

(22:34):
everything there. No, that's straight competition. Mustard just doesn't have
If you're listening to please let Mustard win, that's I like,
I like when Onion wins, because I like when she
carries the first Do you think there's a female in Onion?
I know, it's like they're like, it's all people from

(22:56):
their marketing team. Okay, not their computer team really, you know,
not like seasonal employees. You know what the problem is
is PETA's problems. Okay, this is the random question before
we move on Donovan Mitchell, what do you put on
your hot dog? Most are nothing? Hot dogs are girls?

(23:18):
Whatever the hell is that organization? Because they wanted a
vegan hot dog, and I think that's what they did
to Mustar. Of course they kind of misunderstood the fact
that they're all condiments and not hot dogs. But you know, Onion,
Monstar and catch up, all three catch up, just catch up.
I'm a catch up on my hot dog. I don't
like Mustard Stadium Mustard. No, I don't like straight catchup.

(23:42):
Just I love it. I'm for it. But there are
people who, oh, I know I'll get canceled for that take.
But yeah, I mean people will people go nuts about that.
They but this is the hot dog race. I'm team Mustard.
I want him to win, just one time. It would
be nice anyway, Hey, This week Wednesday is the debut,
the Cleveland debut of Danovan Mitchell The Spider Spider is

(24:08):
it okay? What can I hear it again? La? You
go okay? Spanish you can at the two a's like,
that's a great one. That's a that's a really good
Your three is gonna be which is like a big

(24:30):
scratch they call it in Spanish when you get a scratch.
What about like the web? Like what about his web?
I don't know that will come like they got stuck
in his web? Like yeah, So this is really one
of the biggest trades in franchise history. I mean, you
guys are here for it. This is a lot of

(24:50):
people say it's the biggest trade in franchise history, the
biggest trade in the world this year because he happened
the day of the trade in deadline of your be
on soccer, which is usually the biggest day in terms
of news and the outstage even dozen news over there
in Europe, Like that was the news in Europe when

(25:12):
he was a trading deadline shocked. Can you imagine something
here talking about messy being transferred to whatever on the
day of the NBA trade in deadline. Was there a
big trade in soccer, No, but not on deadline. Not
on the deadline usually. But it was like they took over.
I don't want to talk about, right, I don't want
to talk about the trans took over the trading deadline

(25:35):
in Europe. That's what they were talking about about lay
coming to Cleveland. And he was on the golf course.
I was on the golf course when I heard about it.
He celebrated. I guess he ran around the golf course celebrating,
A run around the golf course celebrating, because I ran
around celebrating. No, I never mad and I never sell.
We'll get to this later, but I never celebrate on
the golf course because I'm a miserable, terrible golf By

(25:57):
the time I heard the news, it was unlike the seventh,
so I was already in despair. So but I mean,
that's so great that I love that he's excited to
be here. Um the team in Nashville. He had a
wine and gold cake. Oh yeah, so the thing the
trade news broke, It wasn't officially yet, but like the
room like woes tweeted whatever, and he was it's right

(26:23):
right by the jersey. Yeah, So he was on like
I think that day or like the next day, he
flew out to vacation for his birthday and he posted
in the balloons his I'm assuming his mom family whoever
got him for his birthday were wine and gold colored.
And then on the way back he posted his cake
also wine and gold colored. And then headed straight to

(26:45):
Nashville to train with our other friend in the back court.
And then Darius Scarlett trying to me have a problem
with me with the su with the Ohio State. Guess
where he is now though they're in New York. Yeah,
he's the New Yorker and his dad worked for the
Sanitation Department for almost twenty years. What's his dad works for?

(27:07):
The Mets? Yeah, Sanitation Department team jezs is the Orange
and Blue. That's what. Now are you going to tell that?
Are you going to have the courage to use that expressions? Nothing?
Are you going to call his dad's team the sanitation
department team? Yeah, there's nothing wrong about it. There's nothing.

(27:28):
Don't do while I'm sitting next to you on the plane, man,
don't do that. Don't do it. It'll be hilarious when
the Mets are in the World Series and the Yankees aren't.
I'll watch root for them for the American League. See
the time I rooted for the met wasn't I think
that is sick. When I was a firstman in college
and I was in Boston and there was no way
that was the only possible way that I could root

(27:50):
for the Mets being in Boston. When when the when
the Mets on the on the Red Sox when okay, yeah,
it was cool to see the trade was cool, like
literally the second it broke, like immediately. Kevin Love tweeted,
Darius tweeted, Dean tweeted, Lamar tweeted. Ricky was like my
absolute favorite. He was like tweeting about how they were reunited. Um,

(28:11):
he was like, man, you're gonna love Cleveland. You're gonna
love Yea. Um, but it's true. I mean Cleveland, you know,
I mean when we love somebody, when Cleveland falls in
love with an athlete, I mean it's a real love affair.
I mean Ricky and Ricky can attest to it. When
Ricky takes the floor this year, fans are gonna go
to nuts the hangover. That's a good question. That's actually

(28:33):
a good question because I know you're talking about Baker right, Uh,
love affair, love affair. Yeah here, Yeah they're loyal, but
we also were. Yeah, we're great at we we we're
great at hating someone. We were top notch. Yeah. A
lot to do with it too. Here it does, it does,
But yeah we didn't. We haven't even talked Browns by

(28:54):
the way, but yeah, tomorrow, Donovan Mitchell really excited. I
can't can you know what, Like, here's a good like
all of us we work, you know, computer team, the
three of us, but also we work on the basketball side.
So we lucky enough that where we kind of get
to know the guys. We're gonna see him. We're gonna
be close to these guys every day now for the

(29:15):
next six seven months, maybe longer, and be a nice
change yeah the last two years. What's that. It'll be
a nice change of getting back to being around that,
you know, around being around the guy's exactly. So I'm
curious as to what he's like. You know, people kind
of forget the personal side of this, Like for example,
I tweeting about Colin Sexton, Well, how you know, you
gotta give somebody up. But it sucks. He was the

(29:37):
first person I like my first trip with the team.
Was last year at Summer League and he was like
the first player to come up and be like, you're new,
who are you what, like, what's your role here? And
it's like introduced himself. He was such a he's really
he's a great kid from a great family. I remember,
uh when Fred passed away, he was, you know, he's
at the funeral. I mean he was. He's just a
good kid. So it sucks to lose somebody like that.

(29:59):
I don't know how Donovan Mitchell is. I I heard
he's cool cool right Tony Jones from the Athletic he's
the jazz reporter. Joined the Chase Down pod our friends
over the Chase Down seventy nine cents can make sure
you listen to the Carter nine cents on Carter. Yes, yes,

(30:21):
he joined their show just to talk like one, what
to expect from him, like after the trade and like
all that. But then he went on to say Donovan
is like one of the most universally liked guys amongst
his peers in the league. And immediately, like you go
to look at everything Donovan posted post trade or like

(30:41):
the people who just engage with him on social media
in general, and it's everyone across the league. Him and
Darius were already training together this summer. I need to
correct myself. He's nothing against him and nothing to have
to do with him, but he's down to seventy six
cents on Carters Man. That's what that's his name. Whatever
value of drafting changing. Stop dogging those guys. I love

(31:05):
those guys. Chase down, but I love those I still
have a huge beef with them. You know, they don't
have one of my highlights on their intro clip. Really
they have John Michael and and uh Alcorn. Yeah, that's yeah,
they gotta they need to spice that up with back Yeah,

(31:27):
YEA made it. Well, then it's perfect. Now now I'm
never gonna get on it. It's not there. It's not
their fault. It's not if the Mac did it. That
is just right, exactly perfect. But we're talking about fans
over there across the street. Since we are Broker Morgage

(31:49):
field House right now, I think our fans should be
really excited about coming to the field House this year
from not only from what happened last season, but we
have better this season even with the changes, and even
we're gonna miss Larry Mark and then we're gonna miss
uh Colleen, We're never gonna see obviously in person was

(32:09):
going to make it. But we are a better team,
and I think I'm not mistaken. The single game tickets available,
yes they are sane. Where do we cabs dot com
last tickets make it really easy. I mean, I'm telling
you because I always give my season my tickets away
on my draft giveaway, because I like people to experience
what we're trying to build here. Look at that playing game,

(32:32):
like you had Richard and Channing sitting at home tweeting
like the arena looked like which is insane? He was
like that was stretched. Yeah, it was pretty long that
playing game that gained six. Thing is though, It's like
I think, compare the early if the early game energy

(32:55):
had continued on and like Trey hadn't come back, I
think it like it would have arrivealed. It just died
off because silence. Don't know, but it was. It was great.
The fans were amazing last season, Yes, the fans were
be amazing. And I think the energy and the vibe
from the team, not only on the court, but also

(33:15):
the way they get along and even when remember when
I think Kevin was injured. He had just come back
from his COVID yah take, and we had somebody had
a big game, and Kevin was like going nice where
he tackles Isaac. He was kind of move up in
the stands and people and and and the fans kind
of understood what this team is about. And that's just

(33:37):
going to continue this yeason. Yeah, they fed off each
other's energy. You could feel it other teams, like even
for example, like the Pacers game, which technically on paper
wasn't like a huge draw last year, but like that
team left, like damn. Those fans are allowed like top
to three Sunday at like six pm or something loudest
top to three places. The only problem might have run

(34:00):
now is that I can no longer use engage Jetty
and engaged Kevin believe I didn't have engaged in woolf.
I didn't. Yeah, I know, nadicated. I texted him, I
said that coming to you. Didn't tell you what is
it is there? Oh? Did he? Yeah? Last summer we
posted about what I mean, but last season, yeah, I wasn't.

(34:20):
I wasn't aware. I mean, could you do like esposo
Kevin or yeah, I don't know, we're still trying to
put into a phone. You gotta figure out, like I'm married,
what's married? What is married? Yeah? I knew that one,
but you know we'll figure something out. Cassado Kevin, Yeah right,
I don't know. But I mean, the thing is about
this team, which is amazing. He made this huge trade

(34:42):
and he gave up a lot, especially in draft capital,
but you didn't get the team and that usually have
potentially four starting All Stars. Somebody's going to miss out there,
somebody's gonna miss out. But I'm saying four of those
guys are all started. Three of them are all Stars.
And you know that Evan it's a matter of time
and the Ulstar game anything, you know. You know, I'm

(35:04):
pretty sure wants to make that and Colin could make that.
Day mean, they're gonna want to put one jazz player
and he's gonna want to make it. The like tweet
I saw that like really hit after the trade was
the Calves now have three like all stars in their
starting line of none of them are Evan Mobley. That's
a great one right there. And the thing I was

(35:24):
gonna say was that on top of it, you still
have Isaac on the you know who's who, I honestly
right could be I think he's gonna have a big right,
could have a huge season. You still have Karris, you
still have Ricky, still have Kevin, you still have de Wolf,
you have a Jetty, you have Lamar means the team
is still pretty solid. You could almost go with a
three by committee. I mean there's all kinds of who

(35:46):
who if the season started tonight at seven o'clock, who
would play? Who would be the fifth starter? That's there's
que Yah is my starting three? Isaac especially people like
I think people get who wrapped up in like they're
comparing Isaac and Caress. But also like you need some
weapons on that bench, right, and like I said, thought

(36:09):
you need a weapon on the starting in the right
and it's not. But again, you could go. You could
really go, like I said, three by committee and then
he can start anybody. He could start Dean. I mean
we did at the end of the year rot in three. Yeah.
If you show j is going to have everybody ready
to play whatever position they you know, the way the
way happen last year the three Bigs went down. Someone

(36:29):
joked technically with like the skill set, it looks like
Evan Mobley's building this year you could literally roll out
like Evan, J and Kevin on the floor at the time.
Liked be wild. He has great options. He has JB
has just options all over the place. Um, hey, we
gotta let's talk about our special guest because Madison has
been and she's been you know, kind of being Madison.

(36:53):
You know, Madison, we love you because you just bring
it strong the whole time. I got ask about your
background because it's an interesting back on a very interesting background,
and that you are orting in RAPA A and n
C double A champion. Correct originally from Arizona. Grew up
a s U football season tickets. All my family meant
to a s U Sparky ghost devils um so every

(37:17):
like a SU. Everything everything was mooning gold. Went to
all the football games. So you went from one wine
gold to the other. Huh yeah. I used to wear
my that's over there and gold. Yeah my ruin. Yeah,
I was gonna say they wine. No, it's mooning gold.
But the gold is ours like our old gold. Like
they more like a fellow. Um. I used to like

(37:39):
last year, I have like a s U like workout
shoes that they gave me like Adidas ones, and I
wore them to practice in the next day Lowry market
and was like, I saw your shoes. And then he
liked to remind me that, like the one he was
only a U A for one season. The one game
he played in timb he dropped like already on us.

(38:01):
But everything as you went to all the games. So
when I got my offer from Arizona State, I literally
didn't even wait for any other school. So I was like, yep,
I'm going your offer to play what golf? Okay, let
them let the fans know. Sorry I hit what your handicap?
I don't know. I haven't played what was I'd probably

(38:23):
shoot like eighty right now, to be honest, but like
in college, I was shooting like that's really bad. I've
been a top golf a ton because like I feel
like top golf is a lot easier for me to
go with friends because like, especially friends who like don't golf,

(38:43):
but you need to gets buckets. Oh god, but who
would you beat to win? You want the Nashville your team,
Northwestern Chicago? I hate them too in Chicago. So it
was actually funny because our semifinal match was against Stanford,
which was actually the way harder matchup, and so it
was one of those like once we got through Stanford,

(39:03):
which was like a miracle win. We had got like
rain delay didn't finish because the darkness had to come
back out the next morning, like all sorts of things.
But once we came back and beat Stanford, we were
like it was one of those like we're winningness and
do you play like like like the like the I
want to say the boys like the man's do. It's
like one match play once you get to the it's

(39:24):
top eight, and then there's also a group like a
team competition, so they we play four rounds of stroke
play and then like there's like an individual champion is
named then but then the top eight from that go
to match play and so then the team champion is
from match play. That's so impressive. But and we actually

(39:45):
had the individual champion that year too, So my teammate Monica,
she's now the coach assistant coach at Oregon, she won
individually and then we want as a team. But it
was fun because like so we came back out in
the morning, like the finals match was supposed to be
its own day, Like you finished on I think we
finished on like Wednesday was no Tuesday was semifinals and
you're supposed to play Wednesday finals in the afternoon, but

(40:08):
semifinals got carried over to the morning. Northwestern advances. We advance,
and we're like forty minutes outside Chicago and fans have
about six hours to get there, so of course we
can show up for the finals and we walk out
on the first tea and it's just purple everywhere because
we're in forty minutes outside Chicago, Like there's no like

(40:29):
the only a s U fans there were. Our men's
team started the next day, so they got there and
they were supporting and then like our athletic director, our coaches, whatever,
that was it, and the whole entire course was purple.
Wouldn't be cool fans are allowed to boo? Well, we
say it kind of worked in our favor because a
lot of Northwestern fans just came out because Northwestern was

(40:49):
in it, and they weren't necessarily golf fans, so they
were kind of just like clapping for everything. When do
you play in the in the championship, I was actually
there is like for match player was six man, so
I was just there supporting but it was fun. I
played all season. We need to go to that tournament,
the P eight tournament in finish, it is the waste management.

(41:13):
It's the same week as it's the same super Bowl
in Arizona this year. Really, yeah, my god, that tournament.
Do we need to go to that tournament? Half the
sixteenth hold it's a part three. But they make like
an ampy theater from the t it's a full state.
It's like it's like they're allowed to make noise. They
scream like scream, and there's broad beers and there's no

(41:38):
such thing as golf protocol. The whole thing or just one.
The whole tournament is loud. But and and the players
usually come in and put a T shirt on. I've
never heard of this. It is the LaGG And then
when there's a go, when there's a holy one had
a hole in one years fly from I mean it

(42:00):
was years. And they when they the teacher is too
far from the whole, they bow, or if he's off
the green, they bow and everything. That's when what is
this waste management? Open every and like guys like Tugger
played in it. Yeah, it's a big It's like, isn't
it like kind of like the Star. I mean it's
like a big early champion. So that's really cool. Um,
it's always super Bowl weekend in Arizona, but this year

(42:24):
the super Bowl is also in Arizona, so they are
the same weekend in Arizona. There the locations of the
events are like forty five minutes from each other, like
across town, but Arizona is going to be there. You're
a Jake Plumber fan. You know he grows mushrooms. Now
that's his big that's growing. Yeah, that's that's the whole
thing he goes. That's football this weekend. Big brock Ausmeiler fan. Okay,

(42:50):
what's he He's like a network. He's on TV starting
this legal whatever he is, but wherever he is there.
Linking back to our conversation pre recording, he played at
a s U, was like solid a s U when
I was in high school, went on to the Broncos,

(43:10):
helped us win a Super Bowl when Peyton Manning was hurt.
So like, so he's your guy. He was a Brown's
quarterback too. Don't forget that he was finessed a lot
of money. I love him. I love him for all
those reasons. Just brock Osweidler trading for him and then
like cut him or something, and then like I got
a bunch of money from the Texans and then just

(43:31):
now was a TV do people does everyone ask you
for tips or do you offer tips? Or do you yes?
Or do you have to restrain yourself from offering tips? Um,
It's interesting because like being a golf coach is actually
extremely difficult because it comes down to like literally the
matter of like inches in your swing can make like

(43:51):
a huge difference. And especially when yeah, and so since
I'm like not a golf instructor, a lot of times
like I don't catch those just like watching a swing
like a golf instructor would. Also, Um, I feel like
when I go to top golf, for like the range
with friends, especially if they're beginners, Like a lot of
things I want to say are almost like two to

(44:13):
advanced because like the thing is is like that, like
it's what you need to do. It's not gonna We're
not gonna fix it right here, So I try what
the long as you wear the while you were playing
to listen, I have one hole in one my entire life.

(44:35):
I finished my college career May nineteen and was like,
honestly kind of burnt out, but like went to do
an internship with Adidas Golf and Carl's Bad and they
had a weekly club where like we literally I think
it was like as an Indias employee, we got a
really good deal at the local golf course actually like
nice golf course, and we'd go and there was like

(44:56):
a league every I want to say, like Tuesday or
Thursday or something. But then we'd also just go play
on the weekends because we got like such a good rate. Well,
so I finished college golf twenty nineteen. I've played. I'd
played for like fifteen years of my life at that point.
No hole in once. I'd come close, but no hole once.
That summer on my birthday, we're rushing the last like

(45:20):
four holes because it's getting dark. We get to nine,
because we played the front nine twice. It's pitch black.
We can't see anything. I see the ball go up
and I'm like, okay, it's a short part three, so
we'll find it up there. We drive up there, I
go to the back bunker because I don't see anything
on the green. Nothing. I'm walking back to the front
bunker and I step over the hole and look down

(45:41):
and there's a ball in it on match danger. And
the best part about it is like the guys I
was playing with our match was coming down to the
last hole, and the guy who needed to win the
last hole to win, his ball was on the green
and the only ball on the green. So he was

(46:03):
like he was running around celebrating, and I literally looked
up for him to pause, and I was like, guys,
He was like, what, I go my balls in the
whole kidding me? And I won, And but then we
went in and celebrated stuff like I only have one

(46:24):
question for you, advice wise, Well that's already no. I
owe it because I'm so terrible at golf. I'm bad.
I'm bad. I'm bad. I'm a natural lefty. But like
growing up, my dad says, you ain't getting lefty clubs,
You're getting my old club so really right hand. So

(46:45):
I've been my whole life, I've been hitting righty. But
I feel like Rodney Dangerfield hitting the ball. I feel stupid,
I feel weird. So I'm gonna I'm gonna go Why
don't we go lefty? I'm a natural lefty, I swing,
I bat lefty. I'm gonna go lefty. Now that's interesting
because some people say switching in golf is actually beneficial.

(47:10):
To see, I'm gonna be great pretty soon. Swing left?
Is that what you're telling me that I'm gonna be
really good? Let's go left top golf? Because I've never swung.
I've never swung handed, like if you're right handed, swinging righty,
like your right hand will get too dominant. People say,
but like leave if like yeah, yeah, I'll be like
Tristan Thompson. I'll switch mid career. But I think I

(47:33):
want to. I want to hit the ball fire, you know,
and I can you know, I mean I can hit
a baseball tips from the switch hitter like switch hitters
on the Guardians. Yes that's true. Okay, so but I
but I want to switch to lefty. So that's my
that's my goal hitter. All come on the pot again
in like six months and I'll see how you're golfing

(47:55):
is going. Okay, we'll do a little an update, um Man,
seen you were on the road last year with the
team correct for a few games. Um it started then
like COVID kind of spiked and we tightened up the
reins a little bit. But should be back on the
road this season. So impressions of life on the road
as a as a kind of a rookie because that

(48:16):
was your first year, right, Yes, so first trips obviously
I was like, I don't know where to go, what
to do, like who goes on what bus? Like all
of those type of things. But obviously, once you get
a little bit of a hang of it, really cool.
Everyone in the organization from B ball ops down awesome
and super welcoming and helpful. So really cool to like

(48:37):
meet everyone on that side that you don't get to
see as frequently in the offices here. But that's the
fun part of the job. Like obviously computer team over
here works really long hours. Um I think Draft night
we are here until two am, different things like that.
So like the fun like going to games, going on
the road, being around the team and being able to

(48:58):
capture those moments. He said, we haven't hoped. We want
to get help. You know, you're a road story that
you will appreciate. Okay, So Madison Curly is the rookie.
Does Madison Curly does Madison currently help unload the truck? Yes?
I think so. Sometimes sometimes it depends, he's an excuse

(49:21):
I mean, I know, I don't mind. I don't mind
doing the the I don't mind, But I'm saying she
seems like the person that would he's jumping in because
there's some dudes in the in the plane that it
cheeses me beyond belief. Yes, it does when a guy
doesn't help. I love the truck. One of the things
I didn't even know what this story is going to be.
One of the things. One of the things that Jogi

(49:42):
and I enjoy was when Cobra will go around Cobra,
he's our man. Without he's the damn mother, he's the
he's the title will be lost without it, like Cobra,
Cobra is the Georgie and I always say over Mark
Cashman one afternoon, just decided to see what happens if

(50:04):
he doesn't show up. I think we will all be
or like a lot of Yeah, I said, if he
did that, it would be like giving up the pardon.
Right now he's on a car, but before it was
a beautiful Manila envelope the size of a bill, and
he would just give it to my, my, my, my,
my partner, my road partner. Right, so we will be

(50:24):
like yeah. So another thing is that we like to
save our pardon, so we get a peanut butter and
jelly sang which for breakfast for next day and stuff
like that. So this year that you were not on
the trip, this past season that you, Jorgi were not
on the trip, we were invited for dinner with the
team because of prison and Marison and I are the

(50:46):
first road trip. But like you know, we just got
the text like we invited and we like like is
that us? Yeah? It was good because we send out
the notes to everyone like bust this time, dinner at
this time, in this room whatever, and I'm always like
does that include me? Right right? Cover was really cool
about inviting us to dinner on the day that we arrived,

(51:10):
and that's a that's a huge chunk of our dam
And then the food is great and they're being comfortable
of not having to go out of the hotel. It
so on a night the first road they were like,
oh my god, that means everyone that Yeah, that's a
big thing of being on the road to It's like, okay,
you send out messages to everyone, but what includes us?

(51:31):
What's he got better? And it was like everyone welcome
or and you don't want to go anywhere where you
weren't invited, because then you get the tap on the
shoulder and I've gotten that. Yeah, and I've never gotten that,
but I've gotten ask and say, hey, you know, yeah,
I don't want to overextend my Yeah, you don't want
to get the tap. Yeah. I did a wrong bus

(51:52):
one time and Hanky can tap me on the shoulder
and said get off. There was one it might have No,
it wasn't Summer League. It was one of the road
trips last year. I was like one of the first
ones out of the hotel onto maybe Charlotte was first
one out of the hotel onto the bus, and so
no one was on either bus, and no one was

(52:12):
there to tell me which one was which. And on
the I got on one and then like players started
getting on and I was like, nah, this is not me.
So I got off and had to go back on
the other one. Yeah. So I mean that's and then
that's that's another big thing. It's it's a stupid thing.
You don't sit in the seat where you're not supposed

(52:34):
to sit, like on the bus, like somebody sat in
Jim Chones seat or Jim Chones bass guitar seat and
like you got to move like everybody has a seat
and you never sit in the in the road. Also,
that was like that was the learning curve for me
because like a lot of these people in our organization
have been here for years and so it's just like

(52:54):
habit for them at this point. All you need to
know you do not sit on the right side when
you go into the plane on the third row in
the last section, that's death row. I mean speaking of
like baseball rules, a lot of those are just like
unwritten rules of the cat, right, And no one really
told me, and I was kind of just thrown in

(53:16):
the fire. And you well, I mean we all are
that's the thing, you right, and you kind of watch
and you kind of yeah, yeah, they have you told
about the mask? I have not. Actually, now be a
good time because we have medicine with us who will
help hopefully hopefully promote us on social Yeah. So anyway,
my we were thinking about doing some graphics for the show,

(53:39):
and uh, we kind of were throwing a couple of
things around and I'm thinking, how about the nice wrestling
Mexican wrestling masks because we have a Lobo callida and yeah,
I say that, right, yeah, you said it right. Okay,
what do you think Mexican wrestling masks for everyone for

(54:01):
US three? Okay, and record an episode with them on Yeah,
yeah we can do it. They can see. Yeah. I
say we do it. I say we do it. Like
that band that we went to see Little Straight Jacket,
Straight Chet. You know what I want. I want you
to get one, like go go find one to night.

(54:21):
I already looked at we already, we already liked the
house we went shopping. Already, go find one tonight. And
where to Donovan Mitchell's presser tomorrow. I have Blue Demon,
I have it s and I have a music Man
music fest. Okay, well, I want you to wear music.

(54:43):
I want you to wear one to Donovan Mitchell's press conference.
I wisht I had on that onion. I want you
to where we need or go get a Spider Man costume. Yeah,
that'd be funny, that wouldn't be bad his picturing ra
pick to make a fool of because I like, it's
really only one who would do it, would do it

(55:06):
real quick. Let's just talk about the expectations for the
calves here and then I want to wrap up Jogie.
You said it best. I know I'm throwing you under
the bus kind of starting this off, but you said
it best when we're on the phone the other day.
I think you said, if if it's anything less than
a four or five seed, it's got to be four
or five. I mean, yeah, the easter is loaded. But

(55:27):
I mean the thing is, it's like, I think we're
top four now, I do. I think it could have
been five or six last year if you'd stayed healthy. Yeah,
I think you gotta put put your put your brakes on.
In terms of just thinking we're gonna run with this thing.
I'm gonna go that's what we want to do, right.
But if you think about the East, the last four years,

(55:50):
four different teams have tasted being in the finals and
one of them won the finals, which has been walking.
So you have Miami, She's always Miami. The system is
the coaching staff that they didn't you got, I know,
but I'm saying, but what they support. I mean, they
went to the finals, they know what, they know what
it takes too, and they have they have the coaching

(56:12):
staff and everything they have. Then you have Milwaukee with
Joannis the best player in the league right now, and
they stay stay healthy and all that. Then you have
Boston was always going to be Boston and they just
went Malcolm Bracken. They just was a great finals. They
lost Gallinaria, a little site that they have had. And

(56:34):
then you you have what's the fourth team that went
to There's four teams that have been to the finals. Bhilly,
No Milwaukee, we got the Nets, you got Philly, and
we went to the finals for the East on Toronto.
But Toronto. I still think that we are a little
bit of Bob in terms of expectations and in terms
of what we have. But still, you know, I think

(56:56):
there's four teams there, and you gotta throw in their Brooklyn,
which you never you never know. It's kind of like
like Secret Chanta, what you're gonna get, but what's going
to happen there, you know? And then you have Philly
who has to get the obligation, expectation and everything you
want to call it, with Harden and and Bead having
a full season and everything everything like that. So I

(57:17):
think being straight into the playoffs, I don't care what
position we're in. I think that should be like a
like a really good bullside to hit. I don't want
to be in the plane, and no, I don't think.
And I think when you know other teams, we should be.
But Atlanta should be better with the John Tomorrow and

(57:37):
and and and and trade playing together. That's gonna as
long as they're gonna take for them to glue. But
I think straight into the playoffs should be something that
they aspire to go. Whether if it's four or six,
I don't think it makes Obviously four would be a
dream to have a home feel, advantage and everything you
want to call it. But straight up to the playoffs,

(57:58):
be in the top six, that's what you want to
make now, that's what you want to do. Now. This
is as good as the East has been in a
long time, maybe since I can remember. I mean, it's
really loaded, but really, you know that we just added
a guy who guided you talk to the best record
in the NBA recently, and they've had the best record
in the West last six years every season and has

(58:21):
got them better every season in his career, and now
he's going to have I don't care. I don't know
if I'm being extremely homer here, but I think this
is the best thing he's played for by far, in
terms of what chemistry, in terms of what's around him,
what's you know? Yeah, so but again, you know, on paper,

(58:43):
I mean he's never had a point guard like this,
He's never had big men like this. I mean he's
had a good big man and not to like this,
not a big man that actually impacts the game exactly
on the offensive. It'll come down to the match ups,
because I remember going into like playing last year and
trying to figure out what our seed would be, and
I kept looking at like who was like one through
four and like who we match up against? And there

(59:06):
definitely was teams that, just like size wise and whatever,
definitely would want to be up against. We have the
coaching staff to deal with that. I think the guys
ready for whatever the matchup. But I'm just saying, like,
like last year, I was like, how far we go?
I just can't wait to see what poison they're gonna pick,
because that I think that's what we are right now,

(59:26):
is like pick your poison, right, you want to take
the perimeter away, you want to take the paint away.
You can't be in the middle. Yeah, yeah, so hey,
we'll hear more from the man himself. Yeah, and Wednesday,
let's let's wrap up here, guys, we have to say
thank you Medicine. You're gonna know some of our thank

(01:01:39):
children with disabilities. Friday, I went to charity spelled c
h A I R I you make beds no I.
It was actually really cool so that they get kids
who have just aged out of foster care and are
now in their own apartment like stable housing, and we
helped them like furnish their first and like the girl

(01:02:02):
that I was talking to, I was like helping her
furnit her apartment for her her baby, and it was
I'm telling you the kids, Lucy and the whole community
relationship and you know Pam and anything for Srilena. They
do an amazing job in terms of getting that involved
with giving back to the community. And I love that.
I look and you know I always do that. You
can try to do as much as I can to

(01:02:24):
get back to the community. You know why not only
because I was there at some point when I came
to this country and I got a lot of help
from people that didn't even know who I was. So
I'd like to throw the throw the rope back down
to see somebody gets out. And and also because it
feels good that fixing those almost it was great. And
then and literally using my hands and soldering and and

(01:02:46):
put it in an expansion to the person the kid
can just put the bottom instead of squeezing. It was
just amazing. And then I had the almost in my
head all day. And the almost we have to thank
the great d Mack, the guy who does everything and
he does all the hard work, the heavy lifting around
here is you guys all know's a nice Michigan hell boy.

(01:03:09):
And then the final we have to thank the dynamic
duo of Dirty Curt Yeah, Marty Allen, big Daddy. We
need up day out there. We do need to be
day update. We'll get one as this season goes on.
But we'll be seeing you guys next week for sure,
next week because we have a big special guest. Not
that you guys weren't big special guests, but next week
we have a huge special guest, and we will talk
to you then. And as always, good night, Pretty Mac

(01:03:34):
wherever you are, if you're listening to wine and I'm
Jackbot knocked up in the air, Slap five, Rabbit grabbon
coming to the court, random with great with two, I'm
gonna run, God, I want are good? Ain't the who

(01:04:00):
he loves gotta be? Not them? Who are you being here? Now?
That's energy
