Speaker 1 (00:01):
Is the sit in with Cap podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
We've got pomo fear of missing out, and there's phobo
fear of a better option. Now there's faux po that
you're going to add to the list as well. Mate,
it's another stress fursing a acronym that stands for any idea.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Anyone want to have a crack?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
No, oh, you are better than you are, way better
than that.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Come on, mate, fear of punching on.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
No, it's fear of people's opinions. Oh god, I got
rid of that.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
So this is actually this is becoming an epidemic that
there's a lot of people and this obviously social media
plays a big part in this, where people just look
at comments and how many likes they're getting, and faux
po is a real thing. So this is coming from
a psychiatrist sees this quite a bit, so he's developed

(01:02):
the word fau po. Just people have to stop relying
on other people's opinions and focus on yourself.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Getting out of control it is.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
And the sad thing is when you have say a
comment or a like or a lack or some sort
of judgment that you might feel it hits and hurts
more than possibly the person intended or realizes they're causing
to It could be just a flippant comment or a
flippant turn of phrase, and then you don't It doesn't

(01:34):
mean anything to them, but it sits you back in
your chair and you think.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Oh, that really hurt. Well.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I'll give you some other examples of faux pai. Pretending
you watched a movie or TV show others are discussing, Oh,
this is a big one for mete, laughing at jokes
that you don't find humorous, feeling anxious that you taught,
taking too long to order at a cafe when there
is a line behind you, and not wanting to leave
work before your boss does. These are just a few

(02:01):
examples of faux po.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
It's getting it. I do that all the time. Do
you know what? As older in life?

Speaker 2 (02:08):
I just when people want to go into details, when
they're telling you a story and they go, oh, you
know the other day, mate, I was driving up that street.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
God, what's that street that's next to the fish and ship?
What's that time? Care? I just or I just agree
with people.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, I know the one you talk yep, I know
you one you're talking about.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Just to move on.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Little details, that's That's the art of the conversation though too.
The amount of conversations I'm in where I have no
idea what the other person is saying, but I generally
know where they're going and I don't need the detail,
And I just say, you couldn't have said it better, mate.
I do a lot of that gear you couldn't have
said it better.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Over to you.

Speaker 4 (02:49):
All the power to you for that.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Mate, Bernadette from Camden, You're a firm faux po believer,
is that correct?

Speaker 5 (02:56):
I just think you know you can you need other
people's opinions. I don't want to know about it, so
I just turn it off and I just ignore everybody else.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Bernadette, I mean, why would you let a nice tiy
and talk to this about the kids? Why would you
let somebody else impact you to a point where it
might change your mood or how you're feeling. You just
can't let that person have that control of you.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
You can't make all your decisions based on everyone else.
You're not going to make everyone else happy, So you've
just got to do what's best for you. So put
your opinion out there to the world, whatever it is,
and go live your life.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
If you don't.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
What do they say, if you don't stand for something,
then you'll never stand for anything exactly?

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Genius?

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Yeah, I'm a genius. Did you say, Bernadette? Something else
saw on social media last night? Got stuck on a
deck dive of inspirational quotes? Or yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:50):
That that? That was a phrase there?

Speaker 2 (03:52):
That that's another term for THI pa, well, fear of
phrases overload, Right, I've got a lot of the fits
in Whipper with Cape Ridgie podcast.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
How's this for a new term? And I've got my
back up a little bit here.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Man Keeping is.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
A new term that women are throwing around Ryan James.
So it's officially been named as man keeping, and the
idea is that it's sucking the life out of straight
women because when you're in a relationship and your male
partner doesn't have too many friends, then everything falls back
on you. So it's managing your man's mood, his stress level,

(04:32):
his social life, and at the same time you're trying
to look after your own mental health. Mattie's in the
studio smiling already. Is this something that women have always
had to do but never spoken about?

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Of course?

Speaker 6 (04:46):
The beginning of time?

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Is there a burden on women that men like. If
I say to Lisa, hey, you can have a chat.
You know a bit upset about this. I thought that
was like what normal partners do in a relationship, where
you share your troubles, will share mine, we'll get through
it together.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
I mean, it's great, it's great when the when the
boys open up.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
But yeah, I probably chat to my girlfriends more than.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
More than advice.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
All right, So you don't go to him for advice.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I just think that you're trying to get it more.
It doesn't go both ways. I don't know. Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
It depends on how independent you are as a guy,
I suppose, I mean some guys do. If you don't
have a friendship group as a guy, you are leaning
on your partner quite a bit, aren't you.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
What says here in the US, one in five men
claim they have no close friends.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Oh that's really sad. That's sad, isn't it.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
I mean, join the club, like sport, play sport, Join
a bowling clubs, join a chess club.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Class Dungeon and Dragons, I don't care, join a join
a pub trivia Pokemon collecting club like Olie Loves.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Pokemon and he's in a Pokemon. They catch up on
Sundays and go through the card of the week and
they have little awards and things.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Which is really cute.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
He's going to pick at your outfit on now. But
you know that's how you can make a friend. Just
do something, because the women are screaming that the hardest
part about their relationship is having to keep their man
like some sort of pet or animal. The needs maintaining
on a daily basis. You know what my wife said
to me last night. It's over, she said. Every time

(06:33):
she sees me get undressed for the shower, I walk
over to her and I turn around, which represents gimme
a backscratch. And you know what, when I nudeed up
and went over to her last night and just turned
around in front of her, she.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Went, do I have to do that? We're trying to
hold onto forest's mate?

Speaker 2 (06:52):
You know what, Like the logging of forests has been
you know, we need it for oxygen and stuff like that,
so you know she shouldn't be doing that and bringing
down those trees on your back.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Could I also say, I don't know if I'm sharing
too much. On Saturday night, when we did some kissing.
Let know, don't look for a bucket dispute in two.
This is what couples do. This is what's going to
be happening on the Jackson right. We're kissing on Saturday night,
proper kissing, Maddie, like, you know what I mean, tongue kissing. Yeah,

(07:26):
and she says, can you just not push so hard
your face is scratching me?

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, you need to share. But aren't we pass that.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Aren't you wanting to embrace the power of a man
from a man to a woman?

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Feel the man? Are we still on?

Speaker 6 (07:45):
We are?

Speaker 3 (07:46):
This must be tell me we're going live? Oh we
are live?

Speaker 5 (07:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Yeah, I can't clean this one up in the edit.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Sorry, Maddie. Don't you like it when you're kissing a man?

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Yes? I do love kissing a man, Yes, my man,
just the one.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Go and tell that because I'm a great kisser. Guys, guys,
you're there, and I just feel like there should be
some sort of love back, like you know, scrunch up
the hair on the back of the head and say, oh,
you're my man.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
I'll have a chat to Lisa. Sure you want me
to move on to your job. It's like a good
time I think Lisa wants to move on too, but
that's another point. Just got a back to scratch tonight,
so I can probably keep I'm moving on.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
