Speaker 1 (00:05):
Apod Shape Production.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Welcome back to another episode about I a Bad Mum podcast.
We are bang on mid school holiday. Well, you're still
kind of at the beginning of school holidays.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yeah, my girls have already had a week and a
half off.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
We've got so many friends in the same situation. I'm like,
oh my gosh, the.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
More that we pay, the less that they go. Really.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah, I don't mind it at this age either, because like,
mornings are quite cruisy at the moment.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Yeah, they're still in bed.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
We get on and have a bit of a later
start exercise, coming to work.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
It till quite chilled.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Yeah. Yeah, the chaos is out of there, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, apart from it's the other end of the day.
So then you've got kids that are staying up later.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
So then I have situations where I'm like, I want
to go to bed, can you please be quiet now?

Speaker 4 (01:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
And then it's like I can hear noise and I'm like, guys,
I am not noisy when you go to.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Bed, yeah, or in the morning when you're still sleeping
in bed and I'm up.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Yeah, there's something in teenagers I've read it.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
I can't remember.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
The body clock changes yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Thing to do with that actually is a part of
their brain that stays up later and sleeps in in
the morning.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Like it's actually a scientific I don't know. That's cool.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, Elsie from the moment she's born to like now,
she's always up so early.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
But then I'm a bit like that, Yeah, you get up.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
So I think it's just like a knock on effect
of like, O, hey, ah, you thought you wouldn't have
one of those kids.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
You've got one of those kids.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah, like you.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
And I think my girls are a bit like me,
because I certainly was the teenager that would be sleeping
in and my mum would come in and go, CAZy,
get up and mow the lawns, like mowing the lawns
with my eyes half closed.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
My bad mum for not taking them away.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Even my girls turn to me and go, oh, my
friend is in Europe right now?

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yeah, good honor.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah, your girls would be ten times worse right now.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
A lot of mum gilt at the moment.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
And to be honest, it's more about the fact that
they're at home kind of every day, but their friends
are all away.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
So their friends are all like Europe. They all seem
to be somewhere.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
There's some sort of school trip that went over to Cambodia.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Wow, you help with orphanages.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's cool. Yeah, their age group is
doing the Cambodia trip. Yeah oh yeah right.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
And when I think about her age, I'm like, like,
I'm doing my own head in.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
But they've been on.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
A lot of holidays, like they are not hard done
by kids by any means.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
But I'm just going through that whole. I think.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
I also feel like everyone's away, so I think.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Like I'm a bit jealous. Yeah, everyone's away.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
I said that the other day.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Expensive holidays.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
I can't open my Instagram without just seeing European summer.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Yeah, just account after account after account.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I was like, so expensive to go to Europe. So expensive,
And so I'm like, how's everybody.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Doing it me?

Speaker 3 (03:29):
I'm like, good on them. And then at the same time,
I'm like, I'm freezing. I'm cold.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
That's all.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
My constant line at the moment is like I'm cold,
That's all I say.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Now, I'm sick of seeing you on the fucking beach in.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Yeah, look at you go frolicking around on the beach,
nice and warm.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
I think I'm just feeling a bit like it's one
of those school holidays where I haven't really done anything.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
So if you were like, win a million dollars tomorrow,
where are you taking them?

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah? I'm off to Europe?

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Yeah yeah, anywhere that sunshine.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
How long does it take for you to get lotto winnings?
In is they're a process of time, Like how long
does it take?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
I actually don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I am there. I probably would rain bother packing that
much all over there.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
I just have my handbag.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
See yah, yeah, if we go passport tick, that's all
you need. Yeah, get pajamas on the plane?

Speaker 4 (04:22):
Get three?

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Do you get free pajamas?

Speaker 4 (04:26):
I'm with you. I would go anywhere at the moment.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Whereas Sunshine, it's funny because if you're listening from anywhere else.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Tiny violin for your Queensland winters.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
I did say this.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
I was like, I genuinely I feel like over the
last month, everywhere I've gone has just rained.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
So I think it might be me.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Because popped over to Perth for a week, they happened
to tell us that they haven't got this.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Amount of rain before at this time of year.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
I was like, you're welcome, You're welcome.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I brought that.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Pop down to Melbourne Coldest stay on record Rain.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I was like, for fuck's sake, what is going on?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
And then today we're to rain again with the girls,
Like are they asking to sort of do anything extra
so like day trips because I know on a previous
podcast we spoke about this, which was something that I
wanted to touch base with again today, which is like,
how are we progressing with the driving to Sydney.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Okay, not happening now. That was a ridiculous idea.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Okay, we talked about it on the podcast the other
day where I was like, oh, you can really get
your driving hours up and not have to get flights
to Sydney at the same time.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
So ticks to boxes, you can drive down to Sydney.
But what I wasn't really thinking.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
About right was the fact that that takes out two
whole days and even if you've stopped halfway, then you're
taking out another day. Yeah, because it's traveling time. So
I worked out we'd probably have one day in Sydney
before we have to turn around and come back, and
so it.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Wasn't really happening.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
I think what you're missing the point of is that
you can get some good hours in. The girls need
to get the hours up. I was stressing about this
from the last part that we did. I was really
trying to break down how much longer it's going to
take them to get these one hundred hours each done.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
I said to her friend recently.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
He was like, oh, yeah, she's however many hours his
daughters are And I was like, how does she get
that many hours? He said, I've just been getting her
to drive everywhere, driving me up to Noosa, driving Avery,
low coast, big trips.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
But you've got two.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
You're in the car for double the amount of time
minus your phone. I was talking about this last week.
You're not allowed your phone. Your road rules are exactly
the same as if you are the one operating the vehicle.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Yeah, exactly right, So no distraction for you.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
How about the depreciation on my car with the increase
in kilometers?

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Yeah, two one hundred hours worth of any driving any year.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
And isn't there some.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Sort of rule on do you know when you get
your insurance you have to tell them how many kilometers
you drive?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Pay what's gonna be your sob yours is done, you
might as well upgrade. You can't now you're gonna have
to change it. I'm telling you no, that's.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
I was thinking about it.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
And what about the fact that your watch would be
buzzing all the time telling you to stand up, because
mine does that on a good day. And I don't
have to sit in a car for two hundred hours,
so I'm thinking about it going far out.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
That's a lot of sitting in a car.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Like obviously people do it at different times if you've
got more than one child, but you're trying to bang
up two hundred hours at the same time.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Yes, it's a lot, Katie, it's a lot.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
It's a lot of anxiety. There is a lot of
stress pouring out of you. That is a lot of
wine that needs to be consumed, probably a lot of
botox that don't need to be topped up Like this
is stressful shit.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Tech color that needs to be on those grays. Token
of wine. But you can't drink it.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
No, have your child drive you.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
In the car.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
You got to be completely sober.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
This is exactly the thing. So and now you've just
got to keep letting them drive everywhere. Although hang on,
let me think, what time are they not allowed to
drive after in the evening? Isn't there a rule?

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Oh gosh, I don't even know taking the rules? Oh god, well,
what time do you think I'm driving? I'm not out
there at midnight.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
I was like for me, it'd be a great way
for them never to drink alcohol. Yeah, you can get
the party, no worries. I'll pick your up at midnight.
You'll drive home.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I think that's a.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
Rule for if you're on your peas. Yeah, I can't
after sad time. Isn't the same with your learners? No,
I could be completely wrong. I know that it is
with your piece. So maybe that's what I'm thinking of.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
What happens if you're on your piece and you're a
nurse and you're working.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Night, maybe they get an exemption for work.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
I lost my license when I was like on my piece,
but I got an exemption for work speeding.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Because when you're on your piece, you get four points.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
At that stage, I lost three apparently going through a
stop sign. This was his words, not stopping long enough.
I stopped at the stop sign.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
A car also parts through, so that was fine, and
then I continued on.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Now this policeman picked me up and he goes, excuse me,
what is there any reason why he didn't stop at
the stop son. I said, well, I did because the
car that I was stopping for it actually passed by.
He goes, we didn't stop long enough, and I said, no,
I did that car come to a complete halt and
then I proceeded forward. He goes, Nope, but you didn't
stop long enough. You need to stop three seconds. And

(09:29):
the more that I argued, the more he wouldn't change it.
And then he's like, we'll show me list nse da
da da all this stuff. Oh, you're on your peace,
are you? And I was like, there is not a
duration of time. It's only if you're And so I
kept going with it because I was obviously young and
knew everything.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
And yes, that was the result of that.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Lost three points and then proceeded to then go and
get a speeding fine, which took me over my four
had to go to court with my employer at the time,
so I got an exemption for twelve months. Going into
court though when you're like eighteen is so scary, even
just for a speeding fine. I just genuinely was like,
I'm sorry, and I almost burst into tears. I felt

(10:12):
sick like it was so bad for me. It was
not good, but it gave me the lesson I needed.
So I got through the next twelve months and then
I got my four points back.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Who knew that you had to stop at a stop
sign for three seconds?

Speaker 4 (10:25):
You better teach your kids that.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
You better teach your girls also, not to argue back
with a police officer on a Sunday morning at a
stop sign.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
It gets you nowhere. Yeah, you're going to lose. Every
time you lose.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
This is the three second role. Even knew it.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
I looked at him. I was like, no, no, no, no,
you're right, You're wrong.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I've been driving since I was seventeen.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
You lost your license, Evel, Why did you holt on
saying no? You were like, ah, because no about another
time that you were in court.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Maybe no, because it was almost like.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
A no, I've never lost my license, mate, that's never
stopped to stop sign.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Are you seconds
