Speaker 1 (00:00):
Discussing the issues that mattered to you and keeping you
informed with what's happening in and around Indy. It's Community
Connection with Tina Cosby, brought to you by Child Advocates,
a champion for justice, opportunity and well being for children
on Praise Am thirteen ten ninety five point.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
What HAFM And good afternoon and welcome to Community Connection.
I'm Tina Cosby. Today is Thursday over for twentieth and
Eric Garnes Hello, how are you today?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Doing great? How are you?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
I'm doing good? You and I are both chuckling because
all of a sudden, time just crept up on this
and I'm like the computer took over.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
It's like you're on, You're on.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I was like, oh okay, glad I was here early
and not running in like well. A lot of people
may not understand this reference, but Dagwood Bumpstead remember the
comic strip Blondie.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Of course, absolutely, and.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
He was never on time for work or anything. He
dashed out every single day like a madman, all the time,
a mad person. And it's so funny because that's how
I used to arrive at work every day. Really well, yeah,
I mean in my younger days. Of course, I just

(01:12):
barely be making it in the door. You know, I'm here.
I made it. Got out of that real quick because
that you can't sustain that very well, that's true, that
very long. So how you've been been pretty good.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
I'm busy with other things that yeah, going on, but
so far, got to handle on things. I think.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah, I think we probably all are going to have
to get a handle on things. Yeah. Well, I guess
it's okay to share because it looks like it's a
certainty now instead of a probability. But we're going to
be making another move. We are moving again, folks. Yeah,

(01:51):
and uh, you know what a pain it is to move,
but especially during right now the holiday season, when a
lot of folks are you know, you're working with kind
of a patchwork schedule because some people have time off,
other people have. It's just just a it's just different.

(02:14):
There were a lot of people in my office this morning.
We were all talking about different things. And I have
my boxes ready.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
That's good. Yeah, you got them packed already.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
No, I have them ready, and I have the lids
and I got to put the lids and the boxes together.
I've been eyeballing things, and I have been kind of
downsizing stuff, you know, so that I don't have as
much to carry back to the old place. And for
those who are wondering, as we told you, almost was
it nearly two years ago, wasn't it nearly two years

(02:47):
ago when we came down to the circle, that this
was going to be our temporary residence until we found
a permanent home. And it turned out that permanent home
was right back where we were before in the first place,
just newer and bigger and renovated and what have you.
So we're going back to our Saint Joseph Street studios.

(03:10):
Uh and uh, these studios here on the circle are
a little obsolete to stay strangely enough, how the what
everything is? What about twenty thirty years old?

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Twenty seven twenty seven years.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, yeah, and so quite a challenge to update all
of that in its current form and with the shape
of the building. And so it just became more practical
to rehab Saint Joseph's. And I hear the rehab. The
rehab job is extremely nice. I've seen pictures, I've heard

(03:47):
people talk descriptions. I have not been down there yet,
have you, Neither of I have.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Not been down This will be my first time in
the building.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
That's right. I remember you saying that you haven't been
down never.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Been down there, So it'll be, it'll be. It's brand
new to me.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Yeah, yeah, Well you know when I first took this job,
it was brand new to me. To radio was brand
new to me. I've never done radio, and thirty years
of television, thirty years of broadcasting radio, so I was
I was just excited and anxious to learn it. And
so the old building with all of the old stuff
was where I learned radio. And so I was there

(04:24):
for the first three and a half years and then
came down here almost two years and now going back
down there, newer, better, and from what I understand, it's expanded,
you know, there's more room. But the space we have
here on the circle is unbelievable. It is it is,

(04:44):
I mean tons, it is like being out you know
in one of those states that only have twenty people.
You know, it's so it's so immense. This building is
just how many were seven floors, I don't know how
many thousands of square feet and I would say seventy
five percent of it is not used. That true, seventy

(05:06):
so we're in a building where we're only using seventy
five percent of the space. And so if you do
the math and look at you know, the obsolete nature
of what we're working with and all kinds of things.
It's just it's too big and it's too much. We
don't really need that. And the other is a perfect fit.
Right back down off tenth and Meridian is a perfect fit.

(05:26):
So we're gonna be going back down there making the move,
making the move. So we'll let you know. It'll be seamless.
You won't notice. Maybe you'll hear us talking about it.
And if you happen to be a studio guest, I
will say that, if you happen to be a studio guest,
you will notice the difference. You won't be coming down
on the circle. You'll be going right back to tenth

(05:49):
and Meridian of Saint Joseph Street.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Parking will be easier there than down here.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
That would be the theory.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Okay, the theory, all.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Right, theoretically going to be yes, However, I'll let you
go ahead and get that. And however, I think parking,
could you know it's going to get down to six
and one half dozen in the other because parking down here,
when we park down here, and this is why you
all probably don't pay or hear a lot of it.

(06:19):
But when we park down here, we have a parking garage,
so we have dedicated parking. We never have to worry
about a spot to park. It's secured, it's dedicated, and
what have you. At Saint Joseph, there's not a parking garage.
It's surface parking or street parking. And so in one way,
it's not as much of a process to get here

(06:41):
into the building because if when you come here and
you park for work, you have to it's kind of
like you got to catch two buses, you know, to
get Yeah, it's exactly two buses. So you have to park,
then you have to go in the parking garage. Then
in the parking garage you have to take an elevator
to the main building, and then from the main building
you have to an elevator to where we are. So

(07:02):
in that process of parking is going to be easier. However,
finding a parking place or a parking spot is going
to be probably a challenge every day because it's only
so big here. It's like we have unlimited someone.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Just called in too and said not to forget to
mention parking on Saint Joe. Be able to park on
Saint Joe.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
That's a very short street.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I guess it really is. And I get that, and
she they are right. Street parking is available not only
on Saint Joe, but on Meridian across the streets. So
street parking is going to be available as well. There's
just not going to be as much of it, and
so we'll have to be kind of creative with that,
although I understand that we may be able to procure

(07:52):
a lot or too adjacent to the building. Now, the
other thing about parking is we never I mean, if
you don't want to, you don't have to have a
coat and hat or anything ever, because you're in a
covered parking garage. Oh yeah, yeah here, that's yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
And you can leave your car.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Yeah, you just sleep your stuff in the car because
you're never gonna need it there. When we get out
of the car, we're gonna have to deal with the elements,
whatever they be, hot, cold, windy, rain, snow, what have you.
You're gonna have to deal. There is no cover, but
it's two or three steps from the parking lot and
to the door.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
So you know, there's the advantage.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Yeah. So, like I said, it's six and one half
dozen in the other not as much of a process
to park down there, but a little bit more of
a challenge to find uh reasonable parking. I guess maybe.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Would it be possible to assign spaces? Probably not.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
There are assigned spaces in that line, if I recall correctly. Yeah,
there are some assigned spaces. Uh, Tina Cosby and Eric
Gardens will likely not have one, but yeah, because there well,
visitors do. Because there's there's visitor, there will be visitor
a sign parking. And then I guess some executives, executly corporate, corporate,

(09:12):
they need to be able to swing in and out
without any problems. So and that's that's fine, you know
they Hey, they.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
They're corporate, they're executives.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Their corporate and they are executives. So but but anyway,
what you will probably hear us talking about over the
next couple of weeks and all the way up to
our holiday break, our Christmas. I'm not gonna say holiday
because I'm a rocket olds it's a Christmas break. We're
gonna say, Eric, you're gonna be off some days for Christmas.
I'm going to be off some day, some days for

(09:43):
our Christmas holiday winter break. I was telling you the
other day, I like to save up my days and
just take one great, big long one, because you know,
sometimes a day or two here and there is good,
it's a good mental health day. But sometimes you just
need an ex tended time to totally decompress, because I

(10:04):
don't like those vacations where you start to really unwind
the day or two before you have to come back.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Right exactly, especially if you've traveled. That's true, you've traveled,
it's all you come back. Oh you're back to work tomorrow,
and it's got home last night.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I remember back in my my again, back in the day,
I'd hop off the plane and drive straight to work.
Really yeah, yeah, well that you could do that, Yeah yeah,
hop right off the plane, get dressed for work wherever
I was vacationing or wherever I was, and get dressed
for work off the plane, you know, schedule it and

(10:38):
then just drive straight to work and hit it, hit
the ground running. Yes, yeah, I would never do that,
absolutely not. Well, planes and plane schedules and airbody things
were so much more reliable than and again you're younger,
and so you're thinking, oh, I want to get the
I want to squeeze in every last minute of this
vacation and every last minute of beach that I can

(11:01):
that I can that I can squeeze in before I
have to go back. And if I go back, I'm
just gonna go straight to work. I'm not going home.
I'm not I'm not gonna do anything. I'm going here.
I'm here. But you never did that.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
I did oh many times.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Oh oh you did, oh so many times.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Somebody and Sonny said to me. They said a few
years ago, they said, you really walk pretty fast. I said,
you know why, been in radio for a long time,
most of my most of my adult life, and you
have you have to get from one point to another.
You know you can time in your head. If you
have to go get something or whatever and take your
restroom break, you know how much time you have and
you make it back before that song is over. Yeah,

(11:36):
so you know, you see you walk, but you have
to walk fast to get there.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I like the way you said that timing in your head,
because after a while, timing becomes ingrained.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
You just know what it does.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
You know how much time you have you know thirty,
you know the difference between thirty and fifteen and the
difference between fifteen and forty five, and you just you know,
you fit yourself into those those those slots, right but yeah, yeah,
and that it doesn't take long to figure that out either,
right here in the business. So but so that's what's
coming up. We spend a little bit more time. But

(12:07):
I did want to let listeners in on not necessari
it's not a secret, but let you in on what
we'll be talking about probably in breaks and in between
or what have you. But we are in the process of,
you know, shifting our operations back down well north, we're
heading north because we already are downtown. We're moving on
up to the north side. Yeah, back to the north side.

(12:30):
And there's so many people familiar with the Saint Joseph
Street location because we were there for so long. And
the other thing is, I don't think the GPS was
ever updated because I can't tell you how many guests
we have had scheduled for in studio and you tell
them we're downtown on the circle forty Monument Circle, and

(12:52):
they're like, oh, okay, okay, and whatever it is. They
just GPS from where they are and they end up
right there at St. H. And I've gotten calls while
I'm here on the air or text messages while I'm
here on the air. Hey, you guys aren't here. The
GPS took us. I'm like I total I tried to
tell you and I you know, so I overly, overly,

(13:13):
overly emphasized when we have in studio guests, and probably
coming down the home stretch, just because we are in
the throes of a move, probably won't do too many
more in studio interviews here. We may have one or
two more, but we're for the most part, we're gonna
keep it on the phone because that's what we can

(13:34):
control until we get down to the newly remodeled, newly
redone place down there on Saint Joseph. So that was that,
probably a little bit too much time and too much information,
but again we did want to let everybody know. Three
one seven for eight zero thirteen ten. Three one seven
four eight zero thirteen ten is the number to the show.

(13:57):
And on the show today again our regular Thursday sports
segment with Danny Bridges from the Indianapolis Recorder that's coming
up in our second hour also in our second hour.
If you've never heard of an Urban Youth Entrepreneur Academy,
an urban Youth Entrepreneur academy, you're about to that too,

(14:18):
is coming up in our second hour, along with the
man who is the founder of such an institution. This
is exciting. I'm really looking forward to learning more about that.
Sounds like that, Yeah, yeah, Youth Entrepreneur Academy. So, I
mean it sounds like they're taking them right through it,
right through the academy, the Academy Urban Youth indeed. Indeed

(14:40):
so Also, another carload pass is going to be up
for grabs for the Christmas Nights of Lights display at
the Indiana State Fairground. We're going to be giving away
one of those, So please keep listening for your chance
to win that. Right now though, until our guests arrive,
we can go to the phone lines. We've got little time,

(15:00):
little little times. Uh three one seven four eight zero
thirteen ten three one seven four eight zero thirteen ten.
Sam the depends man, you know, Sam, Sam, I'm just
gonna and you got please, please, everybody that's listening. I
am not poking fun at this man. This is how

(15:21):
he calls in and gives his name. He does it,
not us, but I'm only too happy to oblige. How's
that now? You know? There was a show back in
the day called The Gong The Gong Show. Remember Jean
Jean the Dancing Machine. Yeah, yeah, I think he. He
and Chuck Berry they came up with that one as well.

(15:43):
So Jean Jean the Dancing Machine and Sam the depends man.
I tell you, go ahead, Sam, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (15:49):
Get after the Hey, I have a comment. And of
course when I was in Vegas, uh huh, I went
to a convention, okay, and edic I mentioned was learning
about free land that you could put hollered it.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
On right about that.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Yeah, And I'm a talker to one of the guys,
one of them from Minnesota and another from Nebraska, and
want to believe from Kansas. So I left my car
with the guys from Minnesota put the closest to us, okay,
and I said, look here, maybe you can come on

(16:27):
a comfort called or radio talk show and explain to
Indiana how did this freeland work? And he was saying,
I would love to. I'm asking you a question. Well,
tell you which wore I ask you a question? He
called me yesterday, asked me. He said, saying, are you
ready to Uh? I didn't know who he was. He'll
remind me of him who he was and where you

(16:49):
were from. I said, wow, yeah, what do you want
to do? How do you want to do it? He said,
do you have a comfort call? I say, uh, I
can create one that's easy to do. And I said,
but I think it'd be a lot better if you're
going to radio. He said, they're going to call us.
I said, I don't know, I'd have to do it.
Ask okay, Uh, if they say he's gonna call he's

(17:13):
going to cover a car. That sounds good and he
said yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
So.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Is it going to cost? So he wants to advertise,
is that it.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
Well he wanted it's kind of like a run based show.
You know, you come on there you shall information uh
huh and uh free information. Yeah. Uh he's not Yeah,
he's not trying to sell anything. He's just trying to
show people how you can get this free land the
build on.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Yeah, via his organization, right right, uh huh. I'll tell
you what, sham. Why don't you leave your your self
your phone number with Eric? Don't don't hang up, just
leave your phone number with Eric, and uh, okay, we'll
we'll we'll, yeah, we'll talk about it, because that's that's interesting.
I remember you telling us about that that trip and

(17:59):
that journey out there. So what else is? What else
is going on.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
The other thing was the h well, don't have to
talk to you. I'm gonna have to talk to you,
text me or call me, and then I will tell
you everything. Okay, but I want to get nobody in
no trouble telling you all the good stuff because I
still got the solution for a yes that's.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
A yes power.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
Yeah. Uh huh, so I want to talk to you
about that too, but a lot of time, uh doctor
Brown on his show, he'll let people come home, you
know and share information, especially free, you know, and for
the party in.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
The Yeah, that's you know, that's basically the you know,
the condition, not conditions, but the the prerequisite the requirements
for here, because I can't really sell advertising on here,
but I can I can share things that are in
the community interest and of interest of the community, which
percent of that time is free. So absolutely absolutely Okay, Well, Sam,

(19:04):
just stawn a line with Eric and give him your
phone number, and uh, we'll we'll connect.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Okay, okay, thank you, thank you, appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Uh three one seven for a zero thirteen ten three
one seven for eight zero thirteen ten, Dorian, go ahead,
how are you?

Speaker 6 (19:21):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (19:22):
Hey, Tina. So my question is, uh, it's about Mike
bron and you know that he's under pressure by Trump
to get this redistricting going. Yeah, and so, uh, he
made a statement that I guess he can take out

(19:46):
some of the senators or the people who are not
voting for the redistricting and replaced him.

Speaker 8 (19:56):
Can he do that?

Speaker 2 (19:57):
I don't think it's a lot if they were duly elected.
Didn't know, no, no, no, no, no, not do it.

Speaker 7 (20:02):
I thought that he couldn't do That's like these people
were voted in.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
He can probably well, I don't even know if he
can have them removed, because they have to be voted
off their committees and chairmanships and things of that nature.
I don't know. I think he is speaking and barking
to an audience of one, as he always does, and
he'll say and do whatever he needs to do to
stay in favor, to stay in favor of Donald Trump.

(20:31):
So that's that's pretty much pretty much the way I
look at that one. But yeah, Braun is he has
no independence whatsoever from Trump. He doesn't think on his own,
he doesn't, he doesn't act on his own. Now, now,
one thing I did hear or read, and I just
glossed over it and I didn't get a chance to

(20:51):
read fully. But there are several of the senators who
voted not to read district who are being harassed what
do they call it? Swat?

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yeah, I think it's now up to four, maybe five,
Look and see how many that are being swatten. And
I think that that is absolutely irresponsible on irresponsible on
behalf of Braun and bron should chose some leadership and
protect his people, and he should stand up and tell
the president the people of Indiana have spoken. They're representatives,

(21:26):
people who represent the people have spoken, and that's where
we are. But thank you very much, sir, and and
just take whatever it is that he has to take
and move on.

Speaker 9 (21:35):
Right.

Speaker 7 (21:35):
But he's not that independent, and I feel like he's
only gonna be just this one term governor. That's it,
because like you said, he doesn't have any independence to uh.
He's taking pages out of Donald Trump book and it's
not gonna work. It's not going to work here because

(21:58):
people are speaking up.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
This is not right.

Speaker 7 (22:01):
The things that they're trying to do is still and
it's not stilling. No, we're not standing.

Speaker 9 (22:06):
Up for that.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
No, he's a Donald Trump rubber stamp. And that's unfortunate
because the state, the state of Indiana, there are people
in Indiana that don't want to necessarily do and say.
Every every time Trump says jump how high, there are
people that that just don't feel that way. And that's
how bron is behaving. So but I'll look into that.
I haven't No, I haven't read anything about here. I

(22:29):
don't doubt what you're saying. The only thing I've seen though,
is that the representatives who did vote not to redraw
the maps are being swatted, so to speak, a you know,
form of social media harassment. And uh, they're that's what.

Speaker 6 (22:44):
The swatting means.

Speaker 7 (22:45):
Because I was wondering what that meant.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Uh, Eric, how would you explain swatting? Uh? I think
you get up front of you get a flood of
uh uh emil emails or messages on online let me because.

Speaker 7 (23:04):
Some money came to their house.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
They may have Yeah, I'm looking right now too, because
it probably can uh, it probably can come in various forms,
right right, making a prank call or emergency services in
an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large

(23:28):
number of armed police officers to a particular address.

Speaker 6 (23:31):
So yeah, that's what happened, exactly what happened, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Supposedly because chaos.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Yeah wow.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
But there's also a social media element to it as well,
isn't it.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
I think so?

Speaker 2 (23:49):
I think you yeah, swatting, yes, what it's a swat
team to your house, right right? But you know that's
what you're responsible. Rhetoric, irresponsible, you know, it's just irresponsible.
Talking crazy like that puts people, It puts people in danger.
Folks can die.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
That's what I was thinking.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
It's just not necessary.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
And and to not call Trump out and tell him
to slow his role and not that that that's just
beyond irresponsible. And bron should be if he's not going
to be any better than this, he should be a
one term governor, as should Micah Beck with the one
term lieutenant governor, because the the harm that they're doing

(24:35):
is unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, indeed, don.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Trump Okay, all right, Jan, thank you, mach Allrightner two
games n Yes, isn't that precious?

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Yeah, worry my jersey today for that reason.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Oh you are okay, okay, I say it now now
I had to do it. So all righty Dori, and
thank you. We'll be right, all right, we'll be right
back right after I rack bye bye.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Let's get back to the conversation. It's Community Connection with
Tina Cosby, brought to you by Child Advocates, a champion
for justice, opportunity and well being for children, on trees
Am thirteen ten ninety five point one FM.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
And we're back with Community Connection. I gotta tell y'all
what happens. See during the break, our co president of
the Audio Division, Dion Levingston.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
You all know Dion.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
He was in here and we were just talking one
issue after another. I said, you're gonna sit down and talk.
Oh no, you're not dragging me into any and he bailed.
But you know, as I say all the time, Dion
likes to come in and drop a bomb and then
walk out. No, it's what Dion does. Sometimes he may
come back in. Usually he's on his way to a

(25:54):
meeting that he's late for, so we'll see. Yeah, he
may come back in. But anyway, let's go back to
the phone on line three, one, seven, zero, thirteen tenth Marvin,
go ahead, how are you Marvin's online? Three?

Speaker 10 (26:08):
I do believe Okay, I think I'm on now.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Are y'all now when we're on with you?

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Go ahead?

Speaker 2 (26:15):
You know.

Speaker 10 (26:15):
I was looking at and I really haven't falled in,
but I saw some you know, Trump is doing his distractions,
and I guess he made some statements about executing democratic
law makers, and I said, why do we let this
guy distract? You know? And so everybody's talking about and

(26:35):
nobody's going to do anything about it. But at the
end of the day, Tina, and I want to remember
when I told you this, and I told people when
he won the election that by the end of his
first term, not only his his people would be sick
of him. And I watched Marjorie Taylor Green that I'm
not on her her change. I mean, I know she.

Speaker 11 (26:56):
Just wants to run presented at Georgia and she knows
she has to bottle.

Speaker 10 (27:00):
But at the end of the day, I watched her
when they were doing the press conference the other day
with the victims, and I'm gonna tell you to me, Tina,
it looks sincere, and I could tell she was sincerely
sad that she had to be on the opposite side
of the president. And I didn't see the incoming. And
I know we'll say what we said. I think his

(27:23):
people and the American people are not going to stand
for a pedophile as president. I believe that there's some
very very bad things. I know they're gonna play that tricks,
but I believe that it'll come out, and I believe
that by the State of the Union next year, that'll
be fenced given it. I just think Trump knows how
bad this is. I think people around him know how

(27:44):
bad this is. They tell me Thoone tricked him and
Johnson because they thought Dune was gonna tie that up
in the Senate and then it went, you know, by
unanimous consider one hundred percent. So I don't know what's
going on, but I think I saw I think Tina
and we've been wrong. But I think we're seeing the
undoing of Donald J. Trump. I think this is one

(28:06):
thing he can't be and if he does, that really
says something about America. Because we get those files and
he's in there and pictures we with underage girls and
different things, and I think there's some Russian money from
what I've been learned, because I want to I really
wanted to learn what's going on with these Epstein files.
And I heard a report where, you know, Epstein was
in bed with the Russians too, So there's some things

(28:28):
going on in there that I think will be the
undoing of Donald Trump. But the last thing I wanted
to talk to you about, Tina, I never really understood
the IPS charter school issue. And you know, I support charters.
I definitely support IPS. I went through it, but it
was uh group of people I sat down because I

(28:49):
wanted I always want to learn, and I found that
a lot of people are not opposed to charters, but
they know what These folks, they Republicans don't care about
educating black children, but charters give them a black face
to use to get to their ultimate goal of destroying

(29:16):
traditional public schools. And I mean, let's just face it,
we're talking about IPS. And so I learned a lot
and a lot of these organizations. I'm not going to
mention that they before I've learned that these persons took
me through some of the people who are donating to them,
who have said bigoted things who who don't support black

(29:36):
causes in general, and so it helped me to really
understand it. Seem I didn't understand it the whole big
deal about it, and I heard Oprah say something it's funny.
I had that and then tdjas and Oprah did this
show and Oprah said, can't do good business with bad people,
and I thought, I said, Okay, I get it now,
Yes that they might be doing something good, but they're

(29:58):
going to get funding from I had people who don't
even in some cases like black people, you know, just billionaires.
So it's like, as you want to understand and learn things,
Tina actually sat down and I listened to a group
of people and they explained to me. And I was
just surprised because I thought the argument was always just

(30:19):
against charter schools, and they're not. Some of them have
had their children in charter schools. Their issue of is
where the fund is coming from. We know that the
Republican legislature is not in support. We see at the national.

Speaker 11 (30:32):
Level of the whole.

Speaker 10 (30:35):
Ending the Department of Education goes back to the segregation.
So I would encourage people sometimes just take your time
out and listen to people. I like to learn I'm
still supporting charter schools, but I understand the arguments now
where before I didn't. I'm not gonna take more your time.

(30:56):
I just thought to drop that.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
No, no, I I appreciate it, Marvin.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Thank you and some good insight there.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Yeah, you know, another objection to the charters is the
inaccessibility for the local community to have to the board
and the decision makers because a lot of these folks
are from out of town, the board members that is,
and people who decide policy and things of that nature.

(31:25):
So yeah, there's good and bad in both, and I'm
like you, I support all.

Speaker 4 (31:30):
Education, believe you me.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
If kids can get an education, you know, I want
them to do it. But a level playing field and
a fair playing field is what continually comes up when
we get to charter versus traditional public schools. So thank
you for that, Marvin. And great idea to have a
listening session. Three one seven for eight zero thirteen ten.

(31:54):
Three one seven for eight zero thirteen ten. Sharon, go ahead,
how are you high?

Speaker 10 (32:01):
Ting of good afternoon.

Speaker 8 (32:02):
I was listening to the Channel thirteen news today and
bron had made the statement that he would have to
compel the people who didn't go along with his vote,
that he would have to compel them to change their minds.
So he's up to now he's threatening the senators who

(32:23):
who voted against redistrict and having a special session, and
he said he's gonna explore our options if you get
a chance.

Speaker 10 (32:31):
You could read it on the.

Speaker 8 (32:34):
Website. But I'm like, that's terrible because he's a nasty too.
That's his last name, Bron that's German.

Speaker 9 (32:42):
So he's no one.

Speaker 8 (32:44):
He's going along with Trumpet to my understanding, when he
was running he had his own the presidency too. We're
out there he had.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
But you know what, it never ceases to amaze me,
how you know when something is as plain as the
nose on your face. If if anybody can cite one
example of where an association with Donald J. Trump has
turned out to be a positive, good, productive thing, I'd

(33:17):
like to see it. I'd like to see it. And
braun Is especially, he should be a special offender because
look at all the history he has to look at
before he jumped totally on board, and he still did
it anyway. I mean, if you folks are in jail,
they're bankrupt, they're on house arrest, they're come on, think

(33:38):
of it, What are they doing that is is positive?
As they're they're excommunicated, their their families are busted up.
It's awful. You know, if your run and your association
and you pledge a fealty to Donald Trump, it doesn't
go anywhere positive. And he doesn't need to take the
state down that road just because that's where he wants

(33:59):
to go. He really doesn't.

Speaker 8 (34:02):
And even though Donald Trump with him releasing Epstein, believe
me a something behind its probably.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Well, I do not trust that for one. I don't
trust that for one instant. No, no, because he doesn't
play by the rules, and he doesn't play he's.

Speaker 8 (34:18):
So confident, he's so confident release those.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Yes, he is.

Speaker 8 (34:23):
Person that some hard might come to them, but sound
would be kind of you know, he's just bowled.

Speaker 9 (34:30):
Well.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
The only way I could see him releasing them would
be that it would be to his advantage. That, yeah, exactly.
And look at how long they've had him and known
that sooner or later they were going to give him up.
So they've got those are probably doctor fixed cooked, you know.
I I I just have no no confidence whatsoever in

(34:52):
the credibility of any of that. I'm waving that off
because you know, unless somebody gets a clean copy, what
they call it, a clean, clean version of it, I
don't trust anything Donald Trump says. Here here you go.

Speaker 10 (35:04):
Now, I like the.

Speaker 8 (35:06):
Way I like will Zay gets to call him.

Speaker 10 (35:09):
You never call him president number.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Forty five, forty five, forty five, Yeah he's forty he's
forty seven.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Now he's forty seven.

Speaker 9 (35:18):
Now, so you.

Speaker 10 (35:19):
Never called him.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
You obviously said number forty five deserved.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Yeah, he really afternoon? All right, YouTube, shit, you have
to read that article. Oh okay, I will, I.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Will thirteen News.

Speaker 9 (35:32):
It's on the website.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Okay, okay, I'll take a look. All right, thank you, Sharon,
appreciate it. Three one seven for eight zero thirteen ten
three one seven for a zero thirteen ten. Jeff, go ahead,
how are you hey?

Speaker 12 (35:46):
How you doing?

Speaker 4 (35:46):
I am doing fantabulous. Thank you.

Speaker 12 (35:49):
What do you know? Uh yeah, I think there's a
I'll tell you. I think there's a lot of Republicans
out publicly, and I know you notice like to see
Donald Trump boy in the Senate and the House, and

(36:10):
I think I number saying they helped these you know
these uh take these Epstein tapes, do come out, because
I really think they would like to go back to
the way things were before Macca, because I know, I
think they a lot of them are realized they created
a Frankenstein monster, and this monster is turning on there.
I mean, I see where Trump is telling Braun. If

(36:32):
these guys don't go along with the redistricting, you are
the primary dawn.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
I mean, why why is that president? He has nothing
else behind him.

Speaker 12 (36:43):
You know, he's no court. According what, he built this
ball room and he tore down the East wing. He
thinks he's going to be there for a while. You know,
he thinks he think he's going to be uh dictator
for life. Well, America is not a dictatorship. We don't
need a dictator. And I'll say this as far as

(37:05):
Braun is concerned. I mean, Braun is a weak man's
idea of a tough guy. You know, he's living Trump
treated like a little child whatnot. And you know, I
you know he Braun wants to keep us stunk in
the nineteen fifties. That's where he wants to go back to.

(37:25):
Ain't nobody's gone for that. So I'm just saying, is
that we gotta get ready for twenty twenty six, No
more excuses, and we just got to vote because this
guy is totally out of control. Did you see, Oh,
I know what I want to say. Did you see

(37:46):
what he talked to those two female reporters, Donald Trump.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Yep called one of them piggy and told the other
one she was a bad person. I mean, it was,
it was horrible. It was abusive, It was absolutely abusive, misogynistic, sex.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Abuse, abused.

Speaker 12 (38:03):
He's a booted, he's a boot.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
He abused him, abused him, and.

Speaker 12 (38:08):
And he's women and he definitely has issues with women.
And why will any woman, any woman could support that.
I will never understand it, or any national intelligent human
being with a brain.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
The ultimate was and I felt badly for her. But
one of the victims that spoke in that press conference yesterday,
one of the Epstein victims, said, I mean her herself
a victim, a victim of sexual and said she said
out loud that she voted for him.

Speaker 12 (38:46):
But she told that woman, you need to go somewhere
just to well.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
I mean, you talk about the ultimate, the ultimate though,
that is the ultimate irony. You know, it was a
white woman. I thought, I thought I saw that talking yeah,
and she said, I voted for you, And I'm like,
after everything that you've been through and what you are
standing there representing, how could you have brought yourself to

(39:10):
even consider even consider voting for him, not let alone
go ahead and do it. But she did, and you know,
she she wants a better of him, and I wouldn't
I wouldn't deny her that with because she.

Speaker 12 (39:23):
Doesn't want to give up. She doesn't want to give
up her white female entitlement. That's what that was all about.
You know, she's willing to let these men abuse her
as long as she's a white woman and she's better
than mean you, Tina. Even though she's been mistreated terribly,
she still thinks she's you know, she's still hold on
to that that that status of being white, even though

(39:45):
she's been violated and mistreated and she's a Stepford white
white that's all she is. And I saw that that.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
Was the ultimate irony though when she said I had
to look twice that he has the screened when when
she uttered that, but but yeah, Jeff, it's uh, uh,
you know, I I there was another college that had
I think it was sharing that, uh, or maybe before
sharing that Trump not Trump, Braun is likely to become

(40:14):
a one term governor for the state of Indiana.

Speaker 12 (40:16):
I can see that.

Speaker 5 (40:17):
I could see that, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Starting to see that too, because yeah, yeah.

Speaker 12 (40:21):
Because because because he's a puppy, he's not acting like
a govern and he's acting more like a puppet, you know,
I mean, you know, Trump is telling him. It's not
like when the job's like, well.

Speaker 7 (40:33):
How does it go?

Speaker 12 (40:33):
I'm getting my words mixed up, you know, not not why,
but how high?

Speaker 2 (40:37):
You know what Trump tells him to jump When you
say jump, not not how Yeah, when you say jump
how high, you ask how high?

Speaker 12 (40:45):
Right, and and uh. And that's what Braun is. And
Braun is a weak man is a is a weak
man's the idea of a tough guy.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
You know.

Speaker 12 (40:52):
He walks around here with that shirt open, like without
a tie, like so well, like you're trying to say
you're you're the everyday man. No man, you know, you're
a million you know, you know, businessman, and you think
you know you got some kind of roots with you know,
everyday people.

Speaker 2 (41:08):
When you don't, you know, and you know, the Jeff,
it's it's blind ambition, I guess, or stupidity. I think
it's a combination of both. How stupid can you be?
How stupid stupid? Stupid? Stupid can you be to risk
to put your political career in the hands of the

(41:29):
likes of Hey, Donald Trump? How can you be so stupid?
When you see.

Speaker 12 (41:36):
Miss McConnell, you.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
See this track record, it is the worst track record.
I wouldn't leave. They're betting their careers. They're betting their
lives and their reputations and their occupations and their careers
on all of it. I mean that that lawyer that
they just made a fool of who basically made up
a grand jury indictment against Komi and Leticia James and

(42:00):
she would go to jail for that. And you're supposed
to be an attorney. You're an officer of the court,
and you did all. Oh my goodness. But anyway, Jeff,
you know well and regardless though, you know, when you
when you get that j D, you become an officer
of the court, regardless of what area in which you practice.

Speaker 12 (42:21):
Look at in charge of the military.

Speaker 3 (42:24):
He's an abuser.

Speaker 12 (42:26):
And a drunk.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
Well, I mean, yeah, but that's that's the requirement I
have to you have to be you have to be
a reprobate. You cannot be you know, you have to
be able to.

Speaker 12 (42:36):
The worst of the worst is Marco Rubio. Marco Rubio
knows better. He knows better.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
I don't know that they do anymore, Jeff. I I
I hate to say that I don't know that they do.
I I would like to think that they do. But
based on what they're doing, how long they're doing it,
and how they're I don't think they're known. Yeah, yeah,
they're just not there.

Speaker 12 (42:58):
And you see right before your eyes, your weak man
and you know.

Speaker 2 (43:03):
Oh, anyway, all right, you too, Jeff, Thank you appreciate it.

Speaker 11 (43:09):
Eric.

Speaker 2 (43:09):
You know, while we've got a couple of minutes, why
don't we go ahead and give away, uh, this free

James picked the number yesterday. When when did you last pick?

Speaker 9 (43:54):
Eric?

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Your Yeah, no, I don't know. Is it on me?

Speaker 3 (44:00):
You pick now?

Speaker 2 (44:01):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (44:02):
Did I pick yesterday?

Speaker 2 (44:03):
Did you?

Speaker 7 (44:04):
James?

Speaker 2 (44:04):
James jes Oh you did? Okay?

Speaker 4 (44:07):
I think okay.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Well, let's do caller. Let's do caller number four, call
it number four. If you are the fourth caller to
the number three one seven, four zero thirteen ten, we'll
give you a free pass for a car load thirty
eight dollars value, absolutely free for a car load full

So that is coming up one week from today, actually
by this time next week, a lot of folks are
either just sitting down, just getting up, going back for seconds.
I don't know how your day is structured on Thanksgiving Day.
Some people eat early, some folks eat late, some folks
eat right in the middle. But right about now is
when folks are gonna be doing the family thing as

(48:05):
well as the distribution. Of course, maybe the distribution might
be wrapped up by now. They usually get it done
by about noon, between noon and one. But as you
sit around the table, remember please everyone to be kind
to each other, be civil, enjoy the day, enjoy each other.
Enjoy the day, enjoy each other, leave politics and all

(48:28):
the other stuff behind, and just have a nice meal.
Enjoy folks that haven't you haven't seen for a while.
Play some cards, do play some games, watch the kids
perform anything. Just just take a day away from the
insanity that is our world these days. So we want
everyone to have a nice, happy and safe and healthy

(48:52):
Thanksgiving Day as well. Again Thanksgiving one week from today.
Also wanted to remind everyone on the Community Compass we've
talked about that you've heard our commercials our PSAs. The

screenshot screen, you know, like make sure you're eligible for
federal food related events and so. Community Compass is available

(49:35):
throughout Indiana and can be used in eleven languages. You
can learn more if you just go to the App
Store or to Google Play and put in Community Compass.
Community Compass. What do we got? Eric Howard?

Speaker 3 (49:48):
Then Ben Ben be Ben Edwards is our winner? Could
go in the air with us because he's in the
middle of something busy, but he's listening and he's excited
to go to Christmas Nights of Lights.

Speaker 2 (49:59):
He is excited. Did he say who he might take
with him?

Speaker 4 (50:01):
Did not say Ben Edwards?

Speaker 3 (50:03):
Ben Edwards?

Speaker 2 (50:04):
Okay, Well, Ben, Congratulationship. Let's see. Uh, we'll give away
another one tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah, we will have tomorrow. That's right, Marrows Friday.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
Tomorrow's Friday. So I think tomorrow might be your turn.
Eric could be well, yeah, because James was yesterday. You
were day before yesterday, James, and then me. So it
goes back to you.

Speaker 3 (50:25):
Back to me.

Speaker 4 (50:25):
Okay, pick it back to you.

Speaker 2 (50:27):
Pick a good one right now, be good to yourself.
Pick a good one. Pick a good one. One of
these days we might go outside the box and do
I've listened to some radio stations, uh, not just necessarily ours,
but just you know, and just coming, and they might
have numbers like ninety seven point whatever or fifteen thirty.

(50:47):
I wonder how it would be if we went all
the way up to like we're what ninety five point
we went ninety fifth call.

Speaker 3 (50:53):
We'd probably be taking calls, or at least the first hour.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
What about thirteen or what about thirteen or ten?

Speaker 3 (50:59):
Thirteen? Win take long.

Speaker 2 (51:00):
We've never done ten.

Speaker 3 (51:02):
We have done, we've done ten, We did do ten, thirteen.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
Haven't done because I always say one in.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
Ten right now. If we weren't ninety five, we wouldn't
get to ninety five.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
Maybe I don't think we'd have a problem getting ninety five.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
Callers exactly, but we wouldn't get there until.

Speaker 2 (51:20):
It is amazing the color and the numbers that we
see when we put that out there.

Speaker 3 (51:24):
I love that the phones light up and uh, it's
it's pretty amazing to see.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Yeah, yeah, I wish you guys could see it.

Speaker 3 (51:30):
Because sometimes I hear people say, oh.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
No, where was I in Q? Where was I in line?
Where was I in line?

Speaker 4 (51:37):
Indeed in deep so.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
But yeah, I was reminding everybody one week from today Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (51:44):
It is one week from today.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
Some folks are either going to be just starting just
finishing up, or getting ready to yeah, starting finishing up,
or I don't know, maybe in the middle of something idea.
Some people eat or early, some people eat late. It's
just hard to tell what folks do on things. You
got is your family later.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
Early, usually somewhere in the middle, not late, normally in
the middle.

Speaker 2 (52:12):
Yeah, you got those relatives to say, come on over, y'all,
y'all gonna come over for Thanksgiving. Y'all, we'll come Okay,
we're gonna eat at three o'clock. They start cooking it
three o'clock. Oh, it drives me crazy.

Speaker 3 (52:24):
And the thing is you're hungry. Yeah, you're hungry, and
you smell the food.

Speaker 2 (52:29):
Not really, they don't start cooking until.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
That's a good point. It's like making the gravy.

Speaker 2 (52:34):
Yeah, okay, so and so can you run to the
store from me real quick hunt because I forgot So
I'm like, y'all not going yeah that, And you know what,
with all the love in the world, I politely declined
those relative slash friends because I know that by the
time at the earliest you're gonna sit down and eat
Thanksgiving dinner's gonna be six or seven o'clock late. It is.

(52:55):
They don't take anything of Hey, have a good.

Speaker 3 (52:57):
Time, but it is.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
It's six o'clock and y'all didn't start cooking until twelve
or one or maybe two.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
You waited, waited.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
All day long, and still don't have everything. You still
sending people to the store. People out there listening, they
know what. Y'all know who I'm talking about. And I
bet you everybody can name one person, name one one
family member or one person just like that. And I
I growing up, I vowed I will never be that

(53:26):
person into you know, good lord, willing, thank you, thank you.
I'm not. I am not that person because I used
to be so annoyed.

Speaker 3 (53:34):
Yeah, we're timely, and my parents they were They're always like,
we're gonna serve it this time, and they were at
that time.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
Yeah, oh they said serve. They're very proper, and that's nice.

Speaker 11 (53:45):
We eat.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
Well, yeah, we're gonna we're gonna eat everybody. We're gonna eat.
We're gonna eat at two o'clock, Y'allso come up, don't
be late, because at two o'clock, you know, get the
circle going and and say, you know, bless the food.
And two o'clock we own we you know, gonna eat. Yeah,
by five or six o'clock, a lot of folks are
ready for sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, and in their second past.

Speaker 3 (54:08):
Of course, it's like, I'm that's too late. I think,
you know, five or six o'clock.

Speaker 4 (54:13):
I'll see you next year, yeap.

Speaker 2 (54:15):
Indeed, all right, we'll be back. We got another hour
Community Connection just to.

Speaker 1 (54:19):
Hit wtoc AM W two three six c are Indianapolis,
discussing the issues that matter to you and keeping you
informed with what's happening in and around Indy. It's Community

(54:40):
Connection with Tina Cosby, brought to you by Child Advocates,
a champion for justice, opportunity and well being for children
on Praise Am thirteen ten ninety five point one FM.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
And we're back with Community Connection. Got a couple of
guests coming up shortly. Danny bridges with Sports and hoping
to get a hold of mister Tyrone Chandler. He is
in charge and one of the founders of what he's
calling the Urban Youth Entrepreneur Academy, Urban Youth Entrepreneur Academy.
So we're hoping to get a hold of mister Chandler.

(55:15):
So Eric, we were talking about Christmas Nights of Lights,
of course, the Moille Sanders, Thanksgiving Day dinner and the
community Compass. But we should not ever forget the Biggie.
The Biggie coming up right after Thanksgiving. Actually it's underway
now and that is our black Santa Toy drives. Yes, Yes,

(55:37):
And I was only too happy to be able to
kick off the one for this station at the McDonald's
out at thirty four to thirty five West sixteenth Street,
thirty four thirty five West sixteenth. That was a good time.
The first hour was a little slow. The second hour
was slamming as because we got that box is huge

(55:58):
and it was nearly full by the time I left.
That's wonderful because people weren't just bringing a toy. They
were bringing two, three, four and five toys and new
Unwrapped Toys is the name of the game New Unwrapped
Toys for a Deserving Child. Here at Christmas, there is
a special need and a special shortage for toys for

(56:19):
little boys ages birth to eleven, birth to age eleven.
And it's really easy nowadays because so many of the
toys it's kind of like the dated buy products on food.
So many of the toys tell you the age range,
you know, like best for three. Did they have that
when you're I'm trying to think, no, and your daughter

(56:42):
is the same age as my son, Yeah, it was.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
Pretty much, you know.

Speaker 2 (56:46):
Yeah, you had to kind of feel around. Yeah. Yeah,
And I think not too terribly much later, Like my daughter,
who's a couple of years younger than my son, I
may have seen some age appropriateness, uh signage or or
language on some of the things that she got, except
for those Brats dolls, which I think they should have
been twenty one, you know, with all the went from

(57:08):
barbiees to brats too quickly.

Speaker 3 (57:10):
You know, they had their own The brats had their
own show or something.

Speaker 2 (57:14):
Yes, yeah, they had their own they were big, they
were hot or something like that. Great big eyes, great,
great big big eyes. And all the other stuff. And
I remember playing, you know, when she was playing with
the dolls and then Barbie's and I wanted to stay
in Barbie's because Brats was just like a big jump. Yes,
you know, it's like, oh, I wanted her to play

(57:35):
with Brats just yet because they think they're grown playing
with bread and loves. But yeah, they they but you
know what, they faded as quickly as they they came.

Speaker 3 (57:42):
They really did. They kind of came and they went.
They were gone.

Speaker 2 (57:45):
But Barbie is he you know, Barbie is still hanging out.

Speaker 3 (57:48):
Barbie has evolved and evolved and evolved.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Barbie was what in nineteen fifty nine.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
Or sixty where in there when Barbie was.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
Born somewhere around and there, and so by I know
she's over. Barbie's over sixty she is.

Speaker 3 (58:02):
And Ken came along too, a little.

Speaker 2 (58:04):
Ken hasn't gone anywhere.

Speaker 3 (58:05):
He's still hanging around.

Speaker 2 (58:06):
And yeah, I remember Can, I remember Barbie and Can
playing We played with Barbie and can you know the
there's so many variations now the colors and then there's
oh yeah, the disabled, you know, they they cover a
lot of different real life scenarios. Uh, And I think

(58:30):
that's good for kids to learn tolerance and acceptance.

Speaker 3 (58:33):
It's really good sports. Uh what sports reporter Barbie? I
think microphone and different types do different.

Speaker 2 (58:41):
Jobs to the Barbie playhouses?

Speaker 3 (58:43):
Yeah, the playhouses. She had her own car.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Oh she had didn't Barbie always have a corvette?

Speaker 3 (58:50):
I had a corvette?

Speaker 2 (58:50):
I think, yeah, I think she always had a corvette.

Speaker 3 (58:53):
I remember my daughter wanted that.

Speaker 2 (58:55):
Did you get it for her?

Speaker 3 (58:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (58:57):
I did.

Speaker 3 (58:58):
Couldn't help it.

Speaker 2 (58:58):
Couldn't help it, girl, you got it, had to do it.
I never saw the movie. I wonder if the movie
is not streaming anywhere now.

Speaker 3 (59:06):
It's a good question.

Speaker 4 (59:07):
I wonderful streaming.

Speaker 12 (59:09):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (59:10):
I heard the movie was good.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
That's what I heard too. I never saw it.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
I never saw I heard it.

Speaker 3 (59:15):
And of course the Barbie there was a playhouse that
you could, I think, put together or build. I did that.
It had different floors because she's of course I'm on
the floor playing there.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
Did you do tea parties?

Speaker 3 (59:28):
Oh of course I did. Oh yeah, parties. Yeah. And
then I did all that stuff with her. It was
so much fun. Oh you know when she'd say, Daddy,
could you make ken talk? He Berbie?

Speaker 2 (59:41):
I remember my son. He one year, he was real young.
He wanted a barbie in a kitchen, a barbie in
a kitchen, and I had to talk my husband off that.
I had to talk him off a cliff. I do
not say a word, okay, and he said but he,
I said, don't say any thing. Let him have it.
So we got him a barbie. He played with that

(01:00:03):
barbie before. He played with the kitchen longer. The barbie.
He just said he wanted it, and he got it
and never showed any interest in anything else again. Yeah,
he was, you know, that's what he wanted. And I
think that if you let kids just get that, that's
what they thought. And men cook. I don't. Well, actually
he does cook a lot now, because I was yeah,

(01:00:27):
I was, uh. He and his girlfriend came over with
it and she said. I asked her something and she said, well,
I don't cook, and I said you don't. I said, well,
who cooks? She said, he does all the cooking. And
I'm like, okay, so he likes to he likes to cook.
Yeah it is. And I was like, okay, but I'll
never forget that Christmas he wanted. I bought it. He

(01:00:47):
bought the kitchen I bought the barbie, but he was like,
I don't think so, my boy, the boy wants a barbie. Yeah, barbie,
but oh it was it, and I think had something
been made of it. But you know, I ate my grandson.
I let him. His mother had a bunch of She

(01:01:11):
had so many, She and her little friends had so
many of these brats dolls. I mean she literally had
just boxing. People would always give them to her birthday
and stuff. And so one day she got them all
out and she was looking through them, and so she was,
as she's a full grown adult now, teacher, right, It
was no, she just got him out to look at
them and to go through them, and she says, oh,

(01:01:32):
I remember doing this, And she had the little brush.
She said, look at this, mom, I remember brush. You
remember how I used to be. And so he sat
down beside her and he started brushing the doll's hair too.
So and again we didn't say anything, and he went
on and he was throwing balls against the wall and
trucks and seeing how fast the trucks could go. And
so it's just it's just development.

Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
They just developed differently.

Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
So but yeah, but and it's great that you played.
You did tea parties.

Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
She said, she said I was a fun dad.

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
Oh, she did say I was a fun day.

Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
A playful dad. I'm on the floor tea.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Party letter comb your hair and all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
I had hair. Yeah, she combed my hair then, and
I'd flinch a little bit, but she combed my hair
all that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
So yeah, well you were a fun dad.

Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
I had fun being just she was growing up. It
was just great.

Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
They grow up too fast, They.

Speaker 2 (01:02:28):
Grow up way way wait wait fast. I can't believe
my grandson. I can't believe he's seems like I was
just off a couple of days ago for his birth
and now going to be starting kindergarten pretty soon. Yeah,
next year, kindergarten, next year.

Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
It's a big step.

Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
Yeah, he's he's he's aging out of daycare. Well he's
in preschool now, so he's aging out preschool at the daycare. Yeah,
and so I just, you know, sometimes you just shake
your head like what where did the time go?

Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
Where did it go?

Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
But does But it's it's it's a lot of fun,
I tell you what. And when this happens for you,
it's it's a lot more fun to me and a grandparent.

Speaker 3 (01:03:07):
Oh yeah, oh, yeah, I should take notes.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Oh yeah, anybody can tell you that. Yeah, I've heard yeah,
Oh my goodness. Yea. Well, parents, you're you're, you're working,
you're you know, you're you're doing your job, You're doing
your thing. But grandparents, you you don't, you know, you
get to get to be your grandparents.

Speaker 4 (01:03:27):
I guess, I guess.

Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
I've heard some grandparents. So, yeah, you do all these things.
They're sugar. Okay, here comes your mom becomes your dad,
see you later.

Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
I've seen her tell him, uh, you know what you're
you're your nana is not my mother. And he says,
what you mean, Mommy should just just know what I
say that nana, your nana is not my mother. But
we never would have gotten away with that different. Yeah,
well why not?

Speaker 4 (01:03:58):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
You don't have to be you don't have to be
on there because they let them raise them. But yeah,
be that as it may. Well, anyway, I was hoping
he probably got tied up, and we certainly would love
for him to come back to us when he is
a free And this happens at times. Eric had happened.
But mister Tyrone Chandler, he works a lot with the

(01:04:21):
young people in the community. And he's always out there
trying to find a way, what do they say, trying
to build a better mouthstrap try and always trying to
find a way to reach young folks, to help them
to transition into adulthood, to help them take advantage of
opportunities and to create opportunities for them. And so he's

(01:04:43):
put together a community based program, mix of mentors and
a network of folks that meets community needs, giving the
kids access to the specialized skills that they need without
the overhead of having to have a full time position.
And so he's leveraging the resources and people that he

(01:05:03):
knows to create this academy that teaches young people how
to become entrepreneurs, how to go into business for themselves.
And yeah, that's yeah. And he wants to focus on
urban youth, you know, children within the city, the inner cities,
because they oftentimes don't have as much access as some

(01:05:24):
of the kids in suburbia and and other places. And
there's nothing, you know, there's nothing wrong with that. In fact,
I think it's great to utilize utilize those resources. So
you know, hopefully we can we can get him, you know,
get a hold of it when he can share a
little bit more about uh, the academy and the concept
because it's really exciting to hear about and anything that

(01:05:49):
we can share with our listeners regarding helping out our
young people to be better and to advance and to
to be able to take advantage of opportunities that are
going to help them in the long run to succeed
as adults. And his contributing members of society. Hey, I'm
all for it. I am all for it. Come on
and tell us about it. So we really really really

(01:06:12):
are looking forward to talking to him about that. But again,
wanted to remind everybody please remember our Black Santa Toy
Drive because that's going to be going on. It's going
to be a little bit shorter this year. The drive's
not going to be as long because we are going
to be distributing the toys on Saturday, December thirteenth at
the Walker Legacy Center from ten am until one pm.

(01:06:36):
New unwrapped toys is our ask. We are putting toy
boxes at McDonald's all of our participating McDonald's locations, and
I'm going to give you those. So there we have it.
Let's go back. Well, yeah, let me see if I
can find him. Where you got the list? Okay, yeah,

(01:07:00):
you go ahead.

Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
Everything thirty four to thirty five West sixteenth Street here
in Indy. All of these are in Indy. Fifty six
seventeen Michigan Road, forty eight or two West fifty seventh Street,
and sixty fifty sixth West seventy first. Now, the one
on sixteenth is just west of White River. Michigan Road
is right there. Just what is that, Tina, Just uh.

Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Right there, Michigan Road. And yeah, right there.

Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
Second Street that is Georgetown in fifty sixth and seventy
first Street, right off the interstate there just near seventy first.

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
Thank you for that.

Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
Thank you. You're quicker.

Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
You're quicker on the draw. But see you got it
right there, and I appreciate it. Okay, Well, Eric, that's
your job from now on. Did you have it right there?

Speaker 4 (01:07:45):
We'll give it to you.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Three one, seven for eight, zero thirteen, ten, Nita, go ahead,
how are you? Hell?

Speaker 9 (01:07:55):
Hi? Hi?

Speaker 13 (01:07:56):
I'm sorry to get a democratic governor again.

Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
I don't see why not. Yeah, we probably could. In fact,
there may be one in the hopper right now if
if my suspicions are correct, one that at least has
aspirations to become the next Democratic governor, and that would
be Bobai's son of former Governor Evan By, who is

(01:08:23):
now running for a secretary of state, which is the
same path. Yeah, he's running for secretary of state. And
that's the same path as father took secretary of state
and then from that went into the race for the
governor of the state of Indiana and became governor. So
we may see one.

Speaker 4 (01:08:41):
We may see one.

Speaker 13 (01:08:42):
Yeah right right, Well, just a Republican, just as long
as somebody cared for the people and not so much
after you know, trying to do this Trump stuff all
the time, the one that cares for the people. And
then I heard about the five thousand. Now I heard

(01:09:03):
about the two thousand. Yup, he's gonna put out two
thousand dollars to the people.

Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
Uh, you know, I dismissed it. I'm not quite sure
what this two thousands. He's talking about giving people two
thousand dollars to you know, a tariff rebate and then
two thousand dollars to put into a health savings plan
for their their healthcare. So it's it's just I don't know.

(01:09:35):
He talks wildly. He may get it. He may not.
I dismissed it the other day as poppycock, but I
did just because he said it. But you know, when
these people are out here trying to please him, you
never know. I'm serious. Right now, as it stands, I
doubt it because it's not well caught out. But if

(01:09:57):
he I don't know where he's going to get the
I need to do that, I don't know.

Speaker 13 (01:10:01):
We'll see, yeah, we'll say I dies he does it,
But I just get so tired of seeing everybody's just
I don't know what the eldest man got over again
over being then he want something.

Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Everything they do, they do, and the two thousand dollars
sadly two thousand dollars rebate check. You put two thousand
dollars in folks hands, and it's going to go a
thousand different directions. What he wants to do is directed
to certain areas once the people get it, and that's
where it falls. That's where the logic of it falls flat,
because that's not going to happen, and so the same

(01:10:37):
problems are going to be there. Now if he just
wants to give people money just to say, hey, here's
some money for me. Fine, But healthcare is still overly
expensive and unattainable for a lot of people. Food utilities
and things like that are absolutely ridiculously unattainable for a

(01:10:58):
lot of folks. So you know, the two thousand dollars
rebate check. I think that's a popularity thing. And I'm
not quite sure that.

Speaker 13 (01:11:07):
We'll try to get way back because he did so
much dirty stop.

Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Yeah exactly exactly so, but we'll see, we'll see if
if if it gathers any steam, I will happily say
I was wrong right now. I don't see it again.
If it happens, I was wrong.

Speaker 13 (01:11:25):
Yeah, I don't see it neither, I think, And if
it does happen, it's a political thing because he's, like
I said, he's done so much dirt, firing people, thousands
of people.

Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
At a time.

Speaker 8 (01:11:36):
And yeah, man, I'll try to get his.

Speaker 13 (01:11:39):
Political thing back up because he knows the nation's getting
ready to come come again, come again.

Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
But for that can help him if he doesn't have
a numbers that he needs in those houses, that's that's him,
that is him. So he's he's gonna need those numbers.
I doubt that he'll get him, but he's gonna you
know he's gonna do everything he can.

Speaker 4 (01:11:57):
He's gonna try.

Speaker 13 (01:11:58):
Yeah, I'll thank you a good.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Day, Thank you you too. Uh three one seven for
zero thirteen ten, Dietrick, go ahead, how are you?

Speaker 11 (01:12:08):
I'm going to run some past your first happy holidays everybody,
And I believe once a day's weeks and months road
pass here, and hopefully the Democrats get in there and
hopefully they'll have enough common sense to do executive order reparation,
executive order of healthcare, and on and on and on.
But I do remember about you guys. Was talking about

(01:12:28):
having tea parties. My grandmother Alice Kennedy, my auntie Louise Dillar.
We played. They taught us red light, green Light? What
was the other one? The other one was that gos
and the favorite one music music. But the main thing
I wanted to run pass you, miss Tina. You be
hearing things. I've been having this teacup with Kessler and

(01:12:52):
Keystone at the FSA people about my medicare and snap
and I'm turning it on my documents and then wants
to go in. They say they deny it, and then
they say I need to bring in my statements, my
banks teaments got to do that. This goes on three times.
So I reached out. I asked them, I said, well,
can I speak to the supervisor. So the spool supervisor's

(01:13:13):
supposed to call me Wednesday, never called, went there yesterday,
supposed to call me, Never call. And the guy Coral,
he's just so gun Hold. Oh, they denied you, I said, sir.
I don't need to keep denying. They did deny. This
is my life. He's good. I need money, I need
I need to eat, I need to pay rent, I
need to I need to get this. Say. Oh, he's
just so hung up on it. And this is surprising.

(01:13:33):
Part is it was a Caucasian lady sitting right there.
She said, Sir, I'm listening to him, and I'm not
having the same issue. She says, sir, write everything down,
document the names so you can remember these dates. And
I thought about the security guard set up there looking
to act, and I carried myself in a well manner.

(01:13:53):
But these people that's in these jobs, uh, they're they're
they're the part of the the part of the problem.
Them not a solution, you know. And so so and
I and I'm gonna ask you this, I prayed, about it,
and I asked God to give me patience. So should
I go back? Should I go back in there be
patient with them? Or just just wait to see? Because

(01:14:16):
my thing If I reached out to the supervisor and
the supervisor don't call me back, it is a very
the sisters in there with nasty attitudes, just just just
just running rampant in a place where the people is
supposed to get served.

Speaker 4 (01:14:33):
Yeah, I would keep going.

Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
I would keep pursuing it and hold on to your patients.
But waiting for them to it just seems that that
seems to be a lost art form. People getting back
to you when you say I need help and then
they're contacting you. You have to be an advocate for yourself,
and it sounds like you're going about it the right way.

Speaker 4 (01:14:55):
I would just I would just go back.

Speaker 12 (01:14:57):
Yeah, do I reach out?

Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
Do I go back?

Speaker 11 (01:15:00):
Try to go back?

Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
Go back?

Speaker 11 (01:15:02):
Who handles that? Is that the Mayor's acting center? That overseas?

Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
Now wait a minute, you're talking about overseas?

Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Who now the medicaid snap?

Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
No, no, no, that would be that would be State
of Indiana or who? Yeah, that's medicaid? Is the state? Yeah?
And then the other would be federal, So that would
you'd have to go to your federal the federal building.

Speaker 4 (01:15:30):
Okay, I'm thinking.

Speaker 11 (01:15:33):
Yeah, Well you guys, have a happy holidays. Be watchful,
be mindful, and just remember what your parents taught you,
your grandparents taught to you, and the memories and stay
pray of happy holidays everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Okay, and don't yeah and again, uh, that is the
medicaid is the state of Indiana, State of Indiana. So
just stay with them, stay with them. Okay, thank you,
to appreciate you. All right, Donna, go ahead, how are you? Hey,
Good afternoon, good afternoon.

Speaker 9 (01:16:07):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:16:09):
One thing here, No, he's not giving anyone any money. Yes,
it's the story will get carried over and over because
the media will speak about it and he will have
he will have achieved his objective. And that's the muddy
waters and have people think they're going to get the
check again that they think is from him. And the

(01:16:29):
media needs to stop even repeating when he's opening his mouth.
He's lying, and we just need to get a better
job of not carrying the water and repeating it. You
heard it, keep it moving, and so if we keep
it alive, we've got to we've we've definitely got to
get smarter here. He counts on us carrying his lie

(01:16:50):
so that it just keeps living. So the answer is no,
don't bring it up again. Secondly, I want to thank
tag Township residents for coming out standing room on last
night in a meeting that was held about a data
center that was trying.

Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
To say, yes, yeah, you bet Eric's been telling us
about that. Go ahead, can you bring us up to date?
Because they're trying to drop these data centers everywhere and
they are believably unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
But anyway, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (01:17:18):
If you believe the data Indianapolis already has over twenty,
if you believe what's out there, the state had already
had over seventy. If you research and bring up and
ask how many data centers are in Indianapolis proper, you
will see that number. And then you ask how many
are in Indiana. And little town, Little Monrovia is fighting

(01:17:41):
the giant out there trying to grab hundreds of acres
of farmland in Little Monrobia and they're fighting. And what
I don't understand is the money that the administrations think
that will benefit their tax base in the long run.
The water and all the resources environment, it is priceless.

(01:18:06):
We can live without a lot of things, but we
can't live with that water.

Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
Nope.

Speaker 6 (01:18:10):
And when they talk about holding water in the holding
tank and it doesn't need to be changed for five
to seven years, you think, well, okay, so where you're
going to discharge that water? And we know it's bad
water now right, and people have to be mindful. We
have to think about I believe it's in Japan the

(01:18:30):
nuclear waste, the accident they had.

Speaker 12 (01:18:33):
They still have all that water.

Speaker 6 (01:18:34):
That they can't dispense vena even here and we had
what we had three Mile Island.

Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Here right oh, three Mile Island where East coast and.

Speaker 6 (01:18:46):
So that water still sits because it's so contaminated, we
can't put it into our environment. But Pike Township showed
up and showed out and we're not done. So hopefully
you can get the elected officials and the advocates and
those that are out here so that the community can
pay attention. Brightwood's in a battle. They're fighting theirs. Franklin

(01:19:08):
showed what it looks like when democracy. This is what
democracy looks like, and sometimes it's not pretty. You know,
it's not all the sexy and stuff. Tina, it's down
right get into the trenches and say, you know what,
we live here and you're not gonna bulldoze us.

Speaker 9 (01:19:23):
And that's where we are.

Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
So thank you for that.

Speaker 6 (01:19:25):
Our Piketown the Catur Township showed up the other night,
standing room only. So again, if we come together, we
were always taught that they're safety in numbers.

Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
Right, Absolutely, we've.

Speaker 6 (01:19:36):
Got to come together. And just because they the government,
the administrations, have opened the doors and not told us
we need to know what's in our backyard. And I
remember one of the news stations, I think Channel thirteen
did a story a couple of months back and they
said they're hiding in playing sight and we just don't
know that's what they are.

Speaker 12 (01:19:54):
Yeah, there we go.

Speaker 6 (01:19:55):
So they have come here. Pike Township showed up and
showed out. We have our next meeting on December tenth,
and hopefully you can talk to some folks before December tenth.

Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
Okay, well can you keep us posted as well?

Speaker 9 (01:20:09):
Absolutely?

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
All right, thank you. I certainly appreciate it.

Speaker 9 (01:20:11):
Donna, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:20:13):
And I don't know if you you know Dana Black.

Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
Yes, yes, I think.

Speaker 6 (01:20:18):
It's someone that can probably keep you up okay on
the dates and things, so reach out to Dana and others.
But we've got to keep our eye on this as
a community at a village.

Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
All right, absolutely, all right, Donna, thank you so much.
Thank you, and Eric, Dana Black. I think our kids
went to school together as well.

Speaker 12 (01:20:38):
Oh I'm not.

Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
Saying I'm seeing her name. I mean I'm seeing her face.
I think I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Name sounds a yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Yeah. If we sawr we know, we know.

Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
And those data centers they're trying to slip those.

Speaker 2 (01:20:50):
In, aren't they aren't they? Goodness? Gracious, Hey, sports is
coming up next with Danny Bridges.

Speaker 4 (01:20:58):
We'll be back.

Speaker 2 (01:21:03):
Praise Indam thirteen ten and ninety five point one FM

food assistance, we have important resources for you. Also, you
can learn how you can make a difference for friends
and neighbors that are in need. It's all at praiseindy

Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
Let's get back to the conversation. It's community connection with
Tina Coosby, brought to you by Child Advocates, a champion
for justice, opportunity and well being for children on Praise
Am thirteen, ten ninety five point one FM, and.

Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
We're back with Community Connection and Eric, you know what
time it is, come time to.

Speaker 3 (01:21:42):
Bring in somebody real special.

Speaker 2 (01:21:50):
Hopefully he's had his lunch, he's all rested up, bed
ready to go.

Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
Mister Bridges, are you with us?

Speaker 11 (01:22:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (01:22:00):
I was waiting till you said something nice about me
before I responded. But you did, so I'll talk.

Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
Okay, we got it. We're all in sync now we're
ready to roll. You know.

Speaker 9 (01:22:12):
I would say something like I'm still modest and I'm
still handsome, but a lot of people like to argue
with the ladder of the two, so I'll just stick
with the modesty thing. But you're right, I did have
a I did have lunch. I'm not going to tell
you where I ate at because the sales staff they
want to sell that. Yes, but I had grouper. I

(01:22:36):
had grouper and some clam chat and it was really good.

Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
It sounds great.

Speaker 9 (01:22:41):
That's a light Actually, that's a light meal for me
if you think about it. You know, I'm usually looking
for something more like a giant cheeseburger or a half
a rack of ribs, or a half a fried chicken,
something like that, but every once in a while I
go a little bit. You know, it was black and
it wasn't like it was broiled, so I kind of
slipped the difference on them.

Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Some of the best grouper I've ever had. In fact,
I haven't had any grouper state site. Most of the
time when I ate groupers in the Caribbean or in there,
Oh my good, great fish and conk.

Speaker 9 (01:23:14):
Great, those are great conk.

Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
Yeah, those are great choices. Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
They cook them like there's no tomorrow. They are so good.

Speaker 4 (01:23:23):
Good fish, good fish.

Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
So what's going on, Danny?

Speaker 9 (01:23:26):
Well, as I told you earlier, last night was the
unveiling of twenty twenty five inning aff the Stipe hundred
champion Alex Bulow's likeness on the Borg Warner Trophy. And
I was rubbing elbows with some of your people last night.
One of your vps was there, one of your sales staff.
They both spoke highly of you. Made me propose the

(01:23:47):
following question. I said, we'll talk about the same person, right,
And they were insistent that you were both wonderful from
a personal and professional perspective, so I had to go
along with it.

Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
There are I would suspect one of them would be
our VP Andrea because she is a huge, huge race fan.
So what do you think you think?

Speaker 9 (01:24:13):
Yeah, and I forgot her first name, Andrea. The young
lady in sales said she was from Beautiful Salem, Indiana.
And I'm not sure if.

Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
The sales staff, I don't know, because you know what,
we don't know sales. Those folks are always out there, Yeah,
selling time and doing whatever, and so it's really hard
to get a feel for you know, who's in it.
Well in the building better way, great, that's great.

Speaker 9 (01:24:39):
They were, Yeah, they were. They were both very engaging,
very polite ladies, articulate, intelligent, just a pleasure to speak with. Yeah,
but that happened last night. That happened last night. Solo
was officially embodied on the trophy. That's a lifetime thing.
You seem very happy about it, But why wouldn't you be?

(01:25:00):
Got a really big check and a trophy. That was
a pretty good deal when it Annapols five.

Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
Yeah, getting that check, getting that check, I love the check. Yes,
big check.

Speaker 9 (01:25:13):
It was a really nice event at the Events Center
ats Commission Row, which is obviously right adjacent to Gabbridge
Field House. They usually don't let riff raff like me
in but I had on a collared shirt. I wore
thots that I blended in perfectly.

Speaker 2 (01:25:28):
Did you use verbs, Danny? A lot a lot of
sports guys don't use verbs.

Speaker 4 (01:25:32):
Did you even use verbs?

Speaker 9 (01:25:35):
I don't think so. I might have been if I did.
It was it was haphazardly.

Speaker 2 (01:25:39):
But you were, you were on it. You were on
it last night.

Speaker 9 (01:25:43):
We had a great time last night, and and I
really enjoyed meeting your colleagues. But uh, you ask what's
going on in a big picture? The Pacers won last night.

Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
Yeah, give them the applau? Can we give them the applause?
Like here we go here, thank you. I got to
be doing these days, you know.

Speaker 9 (01:26:02):
I want to talk a little bit about the games
they haven't won. I watched way too much professional basketball.
I've got too many options on my satellite or streaming,
whatever the heck it's called nowadays. And I have watched
a lot of their games on the road, and I
will say this, I have not seen a game where
they didn't hustle and didn't play hard. Yeah, they have

(01:26:26):
had trouble defending without fouling. They've shopped the ball poorly,
those things are killers, especially rebounding. But you know, I
kind of looked at last night and thought, yeah, this
is much better. But I think there was more effort
last night than there had been during their losses. And
I think that's a positive attribute, I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
That's great. That's good to hear and good to know.
And you know that they're not out there just phoning
it in and giving up. I mean, they're they're doing
their level best. They're just so shy.

Speaker 4 (01:26:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:26:54):
Yeah, I don't think their coach would allow that. I
just don't. I just he's a as I said on
your show before, he's a Hall of Famer waiting to be,
and he's got a certain standard. I mean, obviously personnel
matters in terms of what you can and can't do
on a defensive team, especially, But you know the bottom
line is that was a much needed victory last night.

(01:27:17):
I mean, they've got some tough games coming up. They've
got to play Detroit a couple of times in the
near future. Here it's it's you know, they've got their
traditional game after Thanksgiving, which is I think the Wizards
come to town then, So that's not one that they're
spending all night standing you know, staying awake all night
rather worrying about But look, they've got to win games,

(01:27:40):
and you know, having Math run back healthy is a big,
big thing for this team. And I think he's showing
them what I have said with you before. You're gonna
have to make a decision on me. Either you're gonna
sign me to an extension or I'm gonna make money
in a free agent world in a different zip code.
And he played well last night. We had a double double,

(01:28:01):
and uh, they just uh, I just thought it was
a good effort last night.

Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
Well great, great, great, So more to come?

Speaker 9 (01:28:08):
You think, you sure hope so I I, uh, let's
face it this, Uh this community was on a high
last year and now they're on a very low. But
I just feel like it's the kind of thing where
you know things are going to get better. Pacer fans,
they are people are gonna come back and be healthy.

(01:28:28):
You know, you hope that Halliburton can come back from
a very serious self GM tissue issue or injury. Rather,
that's for sure. But uh, patience is hard. It's hard
to watch teams lose games and you've become accustomed to
them winning. And while last year was simply that a year,
it was a heck of a year, and to come

(01:28:48):
within one game of the NBA Championship sets the bar
pretty dogged on high. But things have crashed from a
health perspective, you know, having Topping out as key to them.
It's they've just had a lot of bad luck. But uh,
time will tell. But I think you're going to see
a better pacer product, uh than you might think of

(01:29:09):
when the year first started.

Speaker 2 (01:29:11):
Are Halliburton and Top and traveling with the team? I
know they're there is.

Speaker 9 (01:29:16):
I know Halliburton has I don't. I don't know if
Topping has or not. I would encourage him to stay
home and get well, but you know that's just me
being super cautious, you know. Uh, you know when you
talk about a foot injury, you know you want you
want to take that right there. And the same same
thing with Halliburton. I just hope he's not doing too
much too quickly. I'm not an orthopedic surgeon, I'm not

(01:29:39):
a trainer. Those guys have access to the best healthcare
in the world. So if they follow the uh the pathway,
the clinical pathways it's called, they're going to probably be okay.
But Uh, I don't believe top it is, but I
do all that Halliburton has and probably will continue to.
It's hard not to. On the other hand, if you

(01:29:59):
can't play and you need to rehab, you're probably better
serve to be at home.

Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
Yeah, And and there there's a there's a couple ways
to look at it. I mean, moral support, you know,
hanging in there with the team and all kinds of
other things. But like you say, uh, sometimes it's better
just to stay home.

Speaker 7 (01:30:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:30:21):
You got to be overly cautious when you're you're talking
about achilles and broken bones in your feet as far
as stopping is concerned. I just hopefully seemed to last
major injury for the for the Pacers this year, and
I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:30:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:30:35):
Well, let's hope.

Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
So you were Are you in Ohio State on a
collision course?

Speaker 9 (01:30:41):
Well, obviously that's the case, and I think mission Ohio
State has to be careful in Michigan, and I do
believe they will. I think they'll run the football and
defend well enough to get out of there. But that's
a hostile environment. I talked about IWU going to Penn State. Uh,
that turned out to be a hostile environment. As well.
But I will say this that you know, you've got

(01:31:03):
one hundred thousand people that are going to be in
ann Arbor waiting for Ohio State. They beat him at
Columbus last year. This is people think they can beat
them again on a given day. Perhaps I don't think
that's going to happen. I think the two teams that
you mentioned are going to end up on December sixth
playing at Lucasoil Stadium. Indiana's going to be less than
a touchdown underdog. Should be a pretty epic game. Ohio

(01:31:27):
State will travel well, as they always do, so three
hours to get to Indianapolis, so it'll be a fifty
to fifty mix of the crowd, but it'll be loud
because a you're inside and be there's a lot of
crazy college football fans going to be there. So I'm
looking forward to that because I do believe it's time.

(01:31:48):
You know, we've talked about this team's better, this team's better.
It's time to start playing head to head. And that's
the first thing that's going to happen that in the
SEC Championship game. Those were those will the epic games
and they will chart the course as far as the
playoffs are concerned.

Speaker 2 (01:32:03):
Yeah, two completely, I mean totally completely, absolutely different teams.
I you in Ohio State, and I don't know where
you start with it, but as you say, December sixth,
maybe the tailtale or tell all story there. But they're
just so different.

Speaker 4 (01:32:21):
They're just so different.

Speaker 9 (01:32:22):
Well, I do believe they are, but I think there
are some similarities. I also, I mean when we look
at host Ohio State historic that we think of great
playmakers at the white out and the running back position. Obviously,
their defense has been stellar this year, So I do
believe that Indiana has a better defense than people give

(01:32:44):
them credit for. I don't think they've been really tested
other than Oregon and Penn State. You can say the
same about Ohio State in terms of their schedule. So
as you start to play better competition in the playoffs,
your strength and weaknesses are more parent. I just feel
like in that particular game, I just it's gonna be

(01:33:05):
hard for me to imagine Ohio State not playing well defensively.
Now the other side of the football, they've had their
moments where they weren't really affected running the ball. Indiana
has had moments where they have been effective running the
football In fact, against their lesser opponents, they've had some
staggering yards a mass from the backfield, So it's gonna

(01:33:25):
be an interesting game. I think it will be a
close game. You know, people are gonna say, who do
you like? So let's just get it out there right now. Okay,
I like Ohio State in a very close ball game.
And I hate to say that because I know the
ie you faithful. They talk to me by email from
time to time questioning my sanity, But I will say there,

(01:33:46):
I would not. It would not be an epic upset.
If Indiana was to win, it would be an upset
on paper, upset in Las Vegas. But they've played pretty
good football this well this year, So I just think
it's gonna be a great game. And it's just a
good day because you'll have the SEC championship as well
that day, a lot of good college football on the horizon.

Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
Well, last, but not certainly not least the Biggie coming
off of a trip to Berlin bye week, and boy
do they step right into it this Sunday, the Colts
and the Chiefs. What say you, Danny, Well, I just
think it's not having the Forrest Buckner will be a

(01:34:30):
problem for the Annapolis Colts.

Speaker 9 (01:34:32):
I don't know that he's going to be back this year.
There are people who are often I mean, when you
go to Panama, and this is public intel. This is
not something that's hush hushed. It's probably known. He flew
to Panama and received sim cell therapy for his neck.
Two things. That's two things. Number One, I'm trying to

(01:34:53):
get healthy as quickly as possible, right that's number one.
And number two, I can't get that treatment locally. So
he's serious about his rehab. I just think about that
type of injury the neck has connected to the fine,
a very serious situation. I hope that I'm wrong, and

(01:35:15):
I hope that he's back and he's effective. Obviously that's
not going to be this weekend. But I honestly feel
like the Colts have their hands full this weekend for
a couple of reasons. Number One, Kansas City on a
bit of a unusual streak as far as their ability
to win a football game and playing at home, and

(01:35:36):
the way's going to be nice. You look at about
fifty degrees on game day, so that's going to be
a positive thing for those who are traveling over or
for those who are in Kansas City already. But I
just feel like Kansas City has enough offensively and enough
defensively to get the job done. I don't think the

(01:35:58):
coast is over there, and I'm embarrassed. I don't think
it'll be a blowout, but I do believe that when
it's all said and done, Kansas City's gonna hang the
third loss on the Colts for the season.

Speaker 4 (01:36:09):
Hm, yeah you think.

Speaker 2 (01:36:11):
Okay, go ahead, Eric.

Speaker 3 (01:36:13):
I'm just saying I hope that's a Danny. I hope
you're right on that. That's all I want to say.

Speaker 9 (01:36:19):
Well, look, I've never made a living as a handicap.
I mean, my grocery budget is too large. But I
will say this, I just believe that there's a lot
of things working against the Coults this weekend from a
standpoint of where Kansas City has been lately. They're trying,
but they know they're not going to win that division.
I mean, it would have to be a massive collapse

(01:36:41):
of teams that have with better records. But they're still
a viable wild card participant. And while you'd rather be
at home, playing on the road in the playoffs is
better than not playing at all. They really need this game.
And I'm not saying the Pults don't or the Colts
won't approach it as seriously, but it's really going to
be difficult for uh for this to happen.

Speaker 2 (01:37:03):
So we shall see, we'll get okay, Well, yeah, guess
what is going to be a ball game? One thing
we do, there will be a ball game.

Speaker 9 (01:37:16):
At least they're not going over there with uh, you know,
really bad weather and what have you. So, Uh, that's
a plus for him.

Speaker 2 (01:37:24):
What else, Danny, before we have to let you go.
Anything else going on?

Speaker 9 (01:37:28):
Not much going on? I mean, I mean all the
things we just discussed, But I would simply say this
that at the end of the day, Uh, this has
been a heck of a year for the Colts. Don't
if they are able, if they are defeated for some reason, Uh,
that's not the end of the season. There's a lot
of football left and they could prove me wrong this Sunday.
And for all the Colts faithful who buy season tickets

(01:37:50):
and merchandise, I hope I'm wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
Yeah, well, here goes the heart instead of the head.
But I'm I'm going to go with the Colts on Sunday.
Go with the Colts, yep, Colts on Sunday, Colts on Sunday. Now,
I don't get into that over under point. I don't
know anything about all that.

Speaker 9 (01:38:09):
I think that's right.

Speaker 4 (01:38:11):
I'm just gonna pick.

Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
I think they, uh they, And if they don't win,
then I'll be wrong. Yeah, if they don't win, we'll
be wrong. And that's fine too, because they'll still have
a much better record than than the Chiefs, and we'll
go we'll go from there.

Speaker 9 (01:38:31):
They have got an opportunity to go over there and
win that football game. It's not going to be a blowout.
I really don't and that's I'll be flabbergasted if they
don't make a good showing. I really really.

Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
Would be Okay, there we go, all righty Danny, Well,
we will talk to you next time. Thanks for spending
some time with us today. And no, no, next next
week is Thanksgiving on Friday, or I am not in
on foot.

Speaker 9 (01:38:55):
Let me let me say this to you now, Okay,
when we stop with the nation to pause and be
thankful for things, I certainly am very thankful for the
opportunity to spend time with you and your listeners. Those
who also read the Indianapolis Recorder. It's a privilege. It's
something I really enjoy and it's also something that I
feel is without question, a real treat.

Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
We thank you, Danny, and the pleasure is ours, and
the treat is ours because you know how we love
to talk sports.

Speaker 4 (01:39:24):
Once a week.

Speaker 9 (01:39:26):
Well, sometimes I would think that talking to me is strange,
But on the other hand, what do I know?

Speaker 4 (01:39:37):
Indeed, you know plenty.

Speaker 2 (01:39:38):
Hey, we will talk with you sometime after Thanksgiving. How
about that.

Speaker 9 (01:39:43):
Happy Thanksgiving to all your listeners, Happy Thanksgiving to all
those in Indianapolis. And don't forget about people who are
shut in and less fortunate, and make sure they get
a plate of food and some fellowship as well.

Speaker 4 (01:39:54):
Wonderful reminder.

Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
Thank you Danny. We'll talk to you next time. And
that Eric wraps it up for today. Yeah, the music here,
it comes, here, it comes, there's the music. So yeah,
it's time for us to go. Thanks everybody for being
with us. We'll be back tomorrow. James Patterson, I believe,
is going to join us, and maybe tomorrow we'll do

(01:40:16):
open lines and week in review unless some you know, well,
circumstances and news and and and information permitting, Okay, whatever
we can do, we will Yeah, but we'll be back
tomorrow again. Williemore Junior on the radio is up next,
as he always is. Uh and I want to thank
everybody for listening until then, be safe, be well for

(01:40:38):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
