Corinne développe sa maladie à l’âge de 15 ans alors qu’elle arrête de suivre un entraînement élite de cheerleading. Elle développe alors une boulimie hors de contrôle qui, combinée à sa puberté, lui fait prendre plusieurs kilos. Cette perte de contrôle sur son état, son physique et son alimentation la mène à essayer plusieurs diètes présentées sur les médias sociaux. Cachée derrière une intention de se reprendre en main, elle débute un régime qu'elle décrit comme addictif.
Caroline a souffert d’anorexie mentale de 11 à 17 ans, maladie dont elle ne se remettra probablement jamais selon elle. Étant de nature perfectionniste, elle commence rapidement à contrôler son image corporelle.
