Eerder greep hij hard in bij de Nijmeegse chipmaker, omdat de Chinese ceo Zhang Xuezheng het bedrijf zou hebben benadeeld ten faveure van zijn andere onderneming, Wingsky Semi. De affaire biedt zo een inkijkje in de woelige Chinese eigendomsstructuren. Beleggers die in totaal voor €7 mln aan obligaties kochten bij de webshops WillemXL en Wil XL kwamen daar slecht vanaf. Het geld ging niet, zoals beloofd, naar meer voorraad, maar verdween in een labyrint van buitenlandse rekeningen en bedrijfjes en in goud. Misschien nog wel het meest opvallend: meerdere betrokkenen bij de webshops zijn ook verdacht in de goudzaak. Toch konden ze partnerships aangaan met Bol.com en Amazon.
