Walking right here, right now, hey man, the Faith Walk,
Faith Moning.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
I'm Kimberlee King in for Erica today and it's time
for the Faith Walk. And I'm excited about this one
because hopefully it'll be an encouragement to somebody that's listening,
and it goes out and it's actually in honor of
our veterans. And I'm calling this one fight by faith,
and I want to her. First of all, let me
just thank the men and women who actually fought for
our country and our military. We appreciate you because we
(07:06):
have some of the freedoms we have today because of you.
But listen, there's a story that I've read years ago
that I just wanted to kind of bring back to pire.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Just jog your memory.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
There's a story of a soldier that was in war
and he was fighting for those in our country and
he lost his sight. He lost his sight during battle.
There was a huge explosion that caused him to be blind.
And during that explosion, what happened was is that the
doctors that were working on him, they said to him,
they said, listen, we can actually get you back in
(07:37):
order to go back and fight again, but you have
to have a little bit of faith.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
You have to have the faith.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
And his commander, his captain, told him, he said, listen,
we still can use you. We still need you to
be out here fighting. He was like, but what I
need you to do is to let your other instincts
kick in. And I want to encourage somebody right now
that is fighting in a war in their personal life.
Maybe you're fighting with your finances, maybe you're fighting to
save your marriage, or whatever the case might be, that
(08:04):
you gotta let your other instincts kick in. The Bible
tells us that we walk by faith and not by sight,
so we can't always go by what we see. I
know it doesn't look good, I know it doesn't feel good.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I know it doesn't weigh out well.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
But what I love that his captain encouraged him with
is that he told him, he said, I need your
other instincts. I need you to hear me. I need
you to feel me. I need you to feel the commands.
And what he did was instinctively. This particular soldier was
able to hear the footsteps of the enemy.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
He was able to able to feel when.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
The temperature wasn't right and he needed to move a
certain way, and he was able to direct those troops
into a victory.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
I want to encourage.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Somebody today that is dealing with an issue or a
circumstance and you're like, you know what I need to
be able to hear God differently. I need to be
able to feel God in a different way because I've
dependent on what I've seen. I've dependent on what it
looks like. And if you are in that place where
you have lost your sight, you've lost your vision, you've
lost your dream. I want to encourage you that God
(09:07):
has never left you, He's never forsaken you, and that
He is here with you.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Feel him.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I need you to feel your way through it. I
need you to hear your way through it. God is speaking.
He's never left you, He's never forsaken you. And that
is my faith walk today. Let me just encourage you
today that God is with you. Those other senses are
going to kick in. Those other things that you have
left dormant, they're going to kick in.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
And that soldier, they said that he.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Was one of the best soldiers in that particular platoon
because he let his other instincts kick in.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
God bless you. That's your faith walk for the day.
Be encouraged, Be encouraged, Be encouraged.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Come on, combats, Come on in the army of the Lord,
Come on in the Army of the Lord.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
Isn't that good?
Speaker 2 (09:54):
She's awesome, She's awesome.

You know, just Get Up Mornings. And sibl Wolves is
Live with the five Things you need to Know. Sybil,
let's jump right into it. First of all, Northwestern Michigan
this Saturday. Let's go at Wrigley Field. Let's go big deal.
Speaker 9 (14:59):
And I got Northwestern you.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Already know, Yeah, go Blue. Hey, look in your newsletter
you salute black veterans. I'm a veteran. Shaan Hee's a veteran.
Tell us more about.
Speaker 9 (15:12):
That, and we thank you for your service. We did
a lot this week regarding Veterans Day and also regarding
black veterans, So check this out. Chris in the years
Following World War Two, in which well over a million
black Americans joined the fight against fascism, troops returned home
to a nation that many say was anything but democratic.
(15:36):
Jim Crow laws and discrimination, both sanctioned and unofficial, shape
the reality of postwar life or many black veterans upon
their return home from World War two world War One.
Even American servicemen and often sometimes women back from the
war returned to bigotry, exclusion, and racial violence, just overt
racial violence precisely because they had served their country. And
(15:59):
there's some examples of these stories. I'm there. I don't
have a lot of military in my family, but I'm very,
very consumed by this and want to give them their due.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Good I love that. And speaking of giving them their due,
President Trump pardon Rudy Giuliani and others who backed efforts
to overturn his twenty twenty election loss. What's that with Dad?
Speaker 9 (16:25):
I don't know if he wrote this out manually or
if his auto pen was just in full effect.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
No.
Speaker 9 (16:30):
Trump issued full pardons this weekend to Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows,
and seventy five others of his friends accused of trying
to overturn the twenty twenty election. They're mostly symbolic since
none of them were charged federally, and this does not
apply to the staycases. But this highlights his ongoing clon
(16:51):
claimed that the twenty twenty election was stolen despite what
the course and the audit said confirming Joe Biden's win
in twenty twenty. And this is justin perhaps a preview
of things to come in twenty twenty six, twenty twenty eight,
and which people are wondering what Donald Trump's role will be.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Okay, so look you got I love this good news story.
Tyler Perry donated one point four million dollars to support
families impacted by SNAP cuts. Please speak on that. Tyler
Perry's dope.
Speaker 9 (17:25):
He really is stepping up for his community and donating
that amount, as you said, to organizations helping families affected
by the recent Snap benefits pause. That went to groups
like the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Meals on Wheels Atlanta,
and Baby to Baby to fight hunger and support essential needs.
He said. Compassion is crucial in times like these, especially
(17:47):
for those who rely on programs like Snap to survive.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
Before we get out of here, is there anything else.
Speaker 9 (17:56):
I just want people to take a look at our
black America two fifty, our little known black history fact,
and this is about us. Salude to a black man
who was a free black man born in the seventeen
forties and fought in both the French and Indians and
the Revolutionary Wars. His name is Jeff ro Jones. Check
out his story as well.
Speaker 2 (18:14):

You already know go Blue Northwestern No Wants Get Up
Mornings with Erica Campbell.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
If you're listening to Get Up.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Er Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
I'm KIMBLEE and Erica today and it's time for my
chem thoughts.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
And you know what I'm thinking. I'm thinking we.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Need to actually go on a little bit of a
budget crunch because we need to be shopping from our
closets and our boudoir drawers because the economy just hold
on tight. I'll tell you all about but we need
to be being conservative with our spending.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
But we still want to be fashionable.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
We still want to be trendy, right, And so I'm
going to tell you, guys some of the trends that
are hit, that are hot right now, that you probably
got right in your closet or right in your drawers.
I just called it the boo wife breath, but it's
the booah drawer. It's when you keep your makeup. But
so let me tell you something real quick. You guys
don't have Yes, I keep my makeup in the drawers.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
My boat drawer.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
I'm a pick up artist, and I'm a little bit
of a snob. But listen, I want you guys to
grab your faux firs and your shirlings because this is
going to actually help you to have that you know,
that glamour without the high cost that is really hot
this season. And then I want you to remember for
your denim, you guys have all those oversized denim shirts,
You guys can resurface those repurpose those, pull those back out,
(20:07):
belt them. They're gonna be so cute. We call them
modernized Genom. It's always a fancy name, but it's I
got on my DNIM shirt today. And then your velvet
pieces are gonna be really cool this season. Incorporate those.
They're definitely affordable. You could do velvet team, and we
used to call it velvet team. It's not real velvet,
it's just velvistem. What is that?
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Velvet team?
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Miss team and tan stripes are in this year. Men
inspire coats, jackets, oversized, big shoulders.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
That kind of look is going to be so you
can thrift that look.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
You know, you can go to the thrift store, grab
your husband's jacket if he has a bigger jacket. You
can belt that jacket if you like to have a
little bit more shape to it. I think that's gonna
be fun. Loafers bring back those old penny loafers, those big.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I don't like those.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
I'm not a big huge loafer level, but they're back
and their platforms and they're thick and they're chunky and
they kind of make me look But yeah, they're not
as expensive unless you're gonna get the Mark Jacobs ones. Okay,
and then if you're gonna be reaching into that whole
boudoir drawer, let me tell you. The main character energy
that's hot right now is having great skin. So, ladies,
(21:13):
if you're wondering what the trend is, beautiful skin is in.
We're doing underpainting, so we're not doing heavy contouring. Also
lots of texture than your underpainting is when you do
your contour first and then you put your foundation over that.
Oh yes, we can make contour that beard.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Okay, yes, yes, And Dewey's skin is really hot.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
It's gonna actually help you have this quiet, luxury achievable
look of.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Just high fashion.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
When your skin looks healthy and glowy and plush and supple,
it makes people feel like you got money. It's pull
out that money. So the asty look is not in.
So if you don't have the finance for all of
these expensive beauty products, and you might need to get
some vassaline. No kicking, No, I'm kidding with you. I'm kidding,
but yes, you gotta take care of your skin, drink
(22:09):
all your water. But this is what's going to be hottest.

It's sir, this is my new single Still.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
It's all about the love of God.
Speaker 12 (29:11):
I don't know if you've ever felt like you did
something that made you unlovable, Well, let me just let
you know it didn't. God.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
I still love you.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Get Up with Eric Campbell Get Up debut.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
That Jonathan McReynolds was still feature in Season twenty three
American Ida winner Jamal Roberts, let me tell you something
that is my wife's song. She been jamming it. How excited?
I know you one of the coolest dudes in the game.
But Doug, when you got nominated for a Grammy and
found out, Man, what was your first reaction? Man? You
(29:51):
know what?
Speaker 12 (29:51):
Honestly, my first reaction most of the time is everybody else,
Like all the friends, all the co writers, all the bands,
you know, do they know are they excited?
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Because that just means a lot to me.
Speaker 12 (30:06):
Man, Like one of my longtime friends, and she works
with me as my assistant. She kind of helps me
keep it all together. You know, this is her first
Grammy nomination. That's being a writer on that side, So
that means even more to me than me getting it,
you know, saying for Orlando, who's a Doose husbands. So
(30:27):
you know, obviously I signed Doe to my record and
Orlando is her husband. He's an incredible music mind and
it is his first Grammy nomination because he co wrote
on the song as well. So I mean that type
of stuff means even more to me than me getting it.
But obviously I am very excited that God keeps on,
you know, blessing me, favoring me, that my peers keep
(30:49):
thinking that my stuff is good and respectable. So man,
it's an honor all the you know, you know, in
so many different ways. But I think the best part
are the people, the talents of people that are around
me that are finally getting recognized.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
I love, first of all, shout out the Life Room label.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Dog.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I love when you were so happy for Doe when
she won this live performance. We all got to see
it at the Stellar Awards, and you and Jamal Roberts.
How do you even know? Dude? Like, how did oh
I know you? Wasn't you a judge? Wasn't you judge?
Or you wasn't a judge? Then at Sunday Best? How
do you how do you meet Jamal?
Speaker 3 (31:26):
No?
Speaker 12 (31:26):
Man, I was absolutely a judge?
Speaker 2 (31:28):
How about that? Okay?
Speaker 12 (31:30):
Okay, yeah, absolutely with E. C. Kelly and we figured,
you know, we we I think I can't remember how
I managed to stay connected, but I know I reached
out and let him know that, you know, whatever he needed,
whatever kind of advice, whatever, blah blah blah, you know,
(31:50):
because I saw promised him, you know, even back then,
and you know, he was much younger than he was,
maybe two three four years younger, but he was a
monster singer, and I just, you know, I wanted I
don't know, maybe I just felt it in my heart
that he was that something was going to happen and
that he was going to somehow be kind of where
(32:15):
he is now. I certainly wasn't thinking about this and
another show, but I was definitely thinking with that talent
that you know, something else could be down the pipeline
form and so yeah, man, we just kind of stay
can let this stay close. I present myself as big brother,
and you know, years later after I've written the song.
(32:36):
He was a quick and easy call.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
So I'm just really honest that he said yes.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Besides stacking up awards for you and your label maids
and everybody around you, you actually have a new title
as a distinguished Professor at Virginia Union University. You keep
you a teaching job dog like all the time, like
for real, for real.
Speaker 12 (32:57):
Hey man, you know or the Lord was teacher's got
to teach?
Speaker 4 (33:01):
Man, I think that.
Speaker 12 (33:03):
I mean when I seriously, when you're doing what you're
supposed to do, everything else is easier. As soon as
I started my life, my soul for a little more balanced.
You know, I don't have to tweet as much. So
I really, man, I really enjoyed it. I've always enjoyed teaching,
as you know. I was at Columbia for four or
(33:24):
five years. Yeah, so this is my honor, man.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
Get up Mornings with Erica Campbell.
Speaker 3 (43:36):
I'm Kim Lee King and for Erica today and it's
time for my love talk, and I want to share
this moment with you that has been really near and
dear to my heart, and I'm calling this one when
love is at war.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
I know that we have been talking to people, we
have been arguing with people.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
I open up my social media and could not believe
the people that have been arguing and fussing and carrying
on about different things, the political climate, about the economy,
and people that have been friends for a very long time,
and it really hurt my heart.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
So I want to talk to a.
Speaker 3 (44:04):
Little bit today about those that are in war when
it should be a time where we should be loving
the Bible tells us in Romans twelve and eight. It says,
if it is possible, as far as it depends on, you,
live at peace with everyone, not just some, but everyone.
So if you've ever been in a season where love
feels like a battlefield, I feel like that's where we
(44:26):
are right now. And it's not cute and it's not nice,
and it doesn't feel kind. I mean the kind where
our heart feels like it's always at war. I want
you to know that God wants us to act differently
and to conduct ourselves accordingly. Now, let's be real. Loving
people is really hard. It's really the greatest gift and
it covers a multitude of sin, but it is the
(44:48):
most difficult thing for us to do. So here's the
thing that when loving feels hard and it doesn't feel easy,
and you feel like you want to retaliate, you got
to put that scripture in place and you got to
think about God would want me to conduct myself? How
would God want me to handle this situation? And we
have to learn how to guard our peace without closing
(45:08):
up our hearts. A lot of times we will jump
right out there and then when someone retaliates, Now we
have our heart broken and it's hard for us to
love back and we pull that wall up. So learning
that forgiveness doesn't mean you always have access, and that
grace doesn't mean I'm always so gullible. So see, when
love is at war, the real fight isn't with them,
(45:29):
it's within you.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
So this tug of war that we're feeling, this thing
that we are tugging back and.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
Forth with between what's holy and what's human, we have
to remember that the holy part is going to always win.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
So between your.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
Desire to clap back, because I know everybody wants to
clap back, they want to give this really quick response,
we can all be quick at the tongue. We have
to remember what God tells us, and that is that
we are to love everybody at all times. God never
said love would be easy, he said it would be
worth it. So because love isn't for the it's for
those that are healed. That's really what love is about.
(46:04):
It takes strength to stay soft in a world that
keeps us trying to live hard and callous. So it
really takes a lot of strength, It takes a lot
of patience, and it really takes a mature believer. So
God sees your effort, not just your outcome. So I
want you to just try. Let's try today.
Speaker 2 (46:22):
Let's try not to be so hasty, so quick, so snappy.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
I pray that I don't walk outside right now and
somebody go at me, and so that I can follow
the same principles that I am teaching you today. We
have to remember that love is at war right now,
and don't be so quick to fight. Let's be right,
Let's be righteous in this place. Let's be the light
that God wants us to be. Let's be the soul
(46:46):
of the earth and change the atmosphere. You've been called
to do that. Did you not forget that you've been
called to change every area and atmosphere when you walk
into that space? And so why don't you just exude
that love that he wants us to have so that
the can shift in the name. That's good, that's good,
loving that more.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
How you said love is not for the week, it's not. Yeah,
and loving at all times, yeah, loving the unlovable.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
Honey, let me tell you something that is the most
difficult thing, but it is the biggest flex where you
can love people when they are not lovable.
Speaker 2 (47:19):
It is a big flex so.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
You want to get some brownie points for God, go
ahead and love those that are hard to do, hard
to love. Yeah, right, that's so good. It's it's my
right now too. I love it all right, Doctor.
Speaker 6 (47:33):
Can't bleeves in the building.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
That's her love talk coming up in just a few moments.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
They've been teasing us about it, and we talked a
little bit about it, But dust off your Heilman merch
and get ready to meet up the pit because class
is officially back in session at our favorite fictional HBCU.
Netflix is reviving a Different World. It's official. So we've

black college students a reflection of themselves and recently released
new details about the highly anticipated series sequel, SO. The

So don't let that stop y'all from flying, though, I
mean exactly, you got to still get out.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
There and do it.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
Traffic controllers who are unpaid for weeks have stopped showing
up for work, so they're canceling flights in different areas
and delays. But even before the shutdown, they was doing
cancelation and delays, so it's kind of been the same
situation and scenario. Just go with patients, all right. Costs

go to lunch.
