Speaker 1 (00:00):
What is the sweet treat life is kind of evaluating
your other experiences on soda.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Yeah, I think you know it starts with our just
our operation as a whole, right, we all have a
part in it, protection in the operation snap hold, kick
and just doing our best job to continue to moving forward.
As far as evaluating uh and getting better at everything.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
It was like to the decisions to bring in Harrison.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
And ja Yeah, I think just over time and just
you know, it wasn't the operation and the standard that
we have set is hasn't been reached to this point
and we I think we all know that, and it's
about what's best for the Rams.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
We love all the players that we have here.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
But we just got to always continue to evaluate and
at the end of the day, competition breeds success and
I believe that with all my heart and so coming
in here to compete and we'll figure it out.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
I don't know if you can answer this.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Your competition like the time, it's been good. They're both
everyone's performed well. Like Coach said yesterday, you know the
expectations for Jake to be snapping for us, and then
you know, having the competition at the kicker spot where
they they battled and we'll continue today as it goes forward.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
I know the unit has to work as one and
I'm not sure you can you can even answer this
for me. Is this more a kicking problem or a
protection problem that has caused the kicking problem.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I think there's a little bit of everything.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
I think early there was some protection, but there was
combined with some of the operation as well. And at
the end of the day, it's about executing and getting
better and continuing to improve in all facets with the
operation as far as the timing, the ball flight, and
the protection. And I think we've done a lot, uh
a good job of shoring up to protection.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Uh And you know that obviously it comes first.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
We can we can solve that with with practice reps
like coaches put in with the pads on and different
stuff like that to simulate it. And we're continuing to
work through the operation stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
What are those conversations like between you and shot through
in the aftermath.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Of what happened, Yeah, you know, very very encouraging as
far as understanding what what we're what we what we
can improve on, what we can control and continue to
focus on and apply our daily habits to breeding.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Success, and that's that's what we've done.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
We've we've spent more time on field goal probably than
I've ever spent and it and it has paid off
in protections.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
And now we've got to make kicks with our operation.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
When a year ago, when when Cardi struggled a couple
of times, you had mentioned his timing because you because
a lot was asked of him on kickoffs to change.
Speaker 7 (02:32):
Is that affecting is either physical.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Or his timing?
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Yeah, that's the uh he says it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
But you know, we've also you know, obviously Ethan kicked
off last week a lot and really the last couple
of weeks, and we'll continue to do a lot of
that stuff. So taking some of that off to making
sure that we are focused on the field goal because
we've got to put points on the board.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
This has gone off for a few weeks now.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
So I guess what gives you confidence?
Speaker 7 (02:55):
Did you guys?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Have you know the means to get it all faced?
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Practice, practice, what we do, how we implement it, how
how they perform out here to breed confidence. Obviously, we
got to do it in the game, make no mistake
about it. We got to execute at a high level
in the game and put points on the board and
at the end of the day we have.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
To be able to control.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
We can control, and everything we've done out here is
is resemblance of.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
That expectation to have a decisions back kicker by the
end of today or like, what.
Speaker 7 (03:23):
Do you expect?
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Probably probably, I mean that would be a you know,
Sean less as we come together with me and coach
Katwika and discuss that, whether it's today or tomorrow, because
today it will be the last.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Real, real, real set of of field goals.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
So whether that conversation happens tonight or if it's tomorrow
during the staff or whatever.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
But yeah, the expectation is to know soon.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
As different people holding for kicker, is that just a
community thing.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Or say, sorry, different people holding.
Speaker 8 (03:55):
The paper in there?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I notice no.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
New No, no, we had.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
I mean when you're working the backup holders on the
side and things like that. We do have like Xavier
or uh, you know, Jay Witt or Matthew guys that
can be backup holders. We work that, but not as
far as in in the stuff or any game or
anything in practice reps.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
We don't.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
We're not gonna take away from the actual reps from
that for working a backup holder.
Speaker 6 (04:29):
Chase not part of this team, but for years Tom
Dempsey had the record of sixty three yards team forever.
Speaker 7 (04:34):
Yeah, this weekend sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
What was your reaction to see in that awesome? I mean,
you know, you expect it. It's gonna you know, we
all talk about it. It's gonna happen. These guys keep
getting better and the ball and everything else like whatever
whatever all of that is, kickser are going through with
more distance and more accuracy.
Speaker 9 (04:54):
What's the press you most about the way that Donno
Forbes and Sprout Sincens started to play a lot for
you guys.
Speaker 10 (04:59):
At Out His physicality I'd say has impressed me the most,
and I'm just happy it's you know, it's showing up
now on game days and you're seeing exactly what we've
seen since OTAs and training camp, and uh, the type
of competitor he is, he fits right in. He's smart,
he's tough, and he's just getting better and better.
Speaker 9 (05:15):
Sean has mentioned just the role that Fobery pleasant Wild
play with guys like that who you know, maybe need
a fresh star. Just from your your perspective, what is
Aubrey were into, you know, working with those cornerbacks.
Speaker 10 (05:27):
He's the best in the league at developing corners. You know,
it's almost you know, we feel like we can give
him almost anybody and he'd make him into it, make
him into a really good player. And uh, but you
give him guys you know that have talent and that
have the right makeup. You know, we have full trust
in him that he's going to get the most out
of them. And uh, you know, we were joking around last.
Speaker 8 (05:44):
Week when Roger came, We're like, oh, he can't.
Speaker 10 (05:46):
You know, we traded for him on Monday. You got
plenty of time. He's done it on Wednesday, Thursday and
gotten guys ready to play. So uh, now he's the
best in the league as far as developing those guys
and uh and coaching them hard, coaching them tough, but
loving them as people as well.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
In that Week five loss to the Niners, I think
the numbers are right. McCaffery fifty seven on the ground,
great job, but the I think was.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Eighty two receiving.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
When you've looked back on the film, what have you
seen that allowed that to happen?
Speaker 10 (06:14):
Yeah, no doubt, a lot of different things. I think
when you look at it, it's every play is its
own entity. You know, it kind of depends on when
those yards come, whether it's in you know, normal down
and distance, second play the game, I think he kind
of screened for fifteen or eighteen. Some of those players
are check downs and he's just kind of breaking tackles
and some of those plays he's the primary and they're out.
And that's what the hardest thing about him is is,
(06:35):
you know, obviously Kyle is one of the best in
the league at you know, when getting the guys his
primaries and getting the looks he wants. And obviously Christian's
the primary a lot in that offense run or pass,
and when he's not the primary and somebody else is,
he's the outlet, and he's the outlet where it's somebody
most guys in the league, it's going to be two
or three yards. He might break a tackle or you know,
(06:58):
slip through guys, and he's the best to find it increases,
always falling forward. He's making those eight to ten, if
not you know, fifteen to twenty. So it's a huge
challenge and you know, we got a population tackle and
we got to be disciplined in our coverages.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
When you look back on that film where the where
the linebackers dropping too deep, it seemed like he was
a lot of underneath stuff and you know there wasn't
anyone two or three yards within him.
Speaker 7 (07:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (07:20):
Sure, No, There's definitely some instances where you know, they
do a lot of stuff where they press some guys
down the field. So you know, when you get in
those those type of play action type settings, you know,
you're trying to pack the zones and panic and get
in the middle, and you got to be on your
toes and you got to be ready to break when
the ball comes out. So I think it's a combination
of all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
The winter skin was tough for the secondary in general,
but you guys seem to turn the corners since the
like what would you say is the biggest difference in
the secondary play?
Speaker 10 (07:45):
You know, I I give a lot of credit to
the Niners. I thought they came out and executed, played
with they had a great plan, especially at the start
of the game, and they and they came out and
played with good energy and finish their plays, and you know,
so I give them a lot of credit, you know,
And I think it's just us trying to just settle
and in learning who our guys are, getting guys in
the right spots. And you know, it's not just the guys,
(08:06):
you know, I think the secondary you know, you joke,
you know, you know when I was coaching linebackers, you know,
secondaries is always the guys that get highlighted because they're
the ones, you know, maybe giving up catches or touchdowns
or whatever.
Speaker 8 (08:16):
But it's really all eleven that goes into it.
Speaker 10 (08:18):
It's the rush, it's the inside droppers, it's the safety help,
it's guys playing their leverages right.
Speaker 8 (08:23):
So a lot of stuff goes into it.
Speaker 10 (08:24):
And just like I said earlier, every plays its own entity,
so just trying to get better one play at a time.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
You have some significantly more film on Mac Jones since then.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
What do you see in the time since that game
to now?
Speaker 10 (08:35):
Yeah, he's a stud. He operates their offense exactly like
they want him to. Obviously he's gonna hit his back
foot and if his reads are he's gonna be able
to get the ball out.
Speaker 8 (08:45):
He's making plays, you can tell.
Speaker 10 (08:48):
You know, he trusts his coach, and his coaches trust him,
and he's got a lot of good playmakers around him,
so you can tell he wants to get the ball
in the hands of his playmakers and let those guys go.
Speaker 8 (08:55):
And he's done an excellent job so far.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
So many of your guys just talk about, hey, we
got to execute.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
You got to execute for two teams and two coaching
staffs that know each other.
Speaker 7 (09:04):
So well, what's the challenge there.
Speaker 10 (09:06):
Yeah, that's the fun part of the NFL is you know,
it's the you know, obviously they did a lot of
stuff that worked against this last game and vice versa,
and you know, you wonder if they're going to go
back to it or what they're going to have off
of it, and different things like that, and you know,
it's just the division opponent and opponent you're familiar with,
you know, even going into last game, and you know
there's always just new pieces, Like we played him last game.
(09:26):
They hadn't we played him twice year before. They hadn't
had McCaffrey, you know, and they obviously didn't have Kittle
last game. Now they have Kittle, so we know they're
gonna activate him in some certain ways.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
So there's a lot of.
Speaker 10 (09:35):
Things that that that go into it. And it's obviously
the cat and mouse game. And you know, but the
biggest thing is don't overthink it. Let the guys go play.
Speaker 11 (09:43):
Breedon got his first second with the season last week.
Just what's it meant to have him back truly at
full strength and just the impact that he's had on.
Speaker 10 (09:50):
This funt Oh, I mean, he's he's been you know,
you know, the Jacksonville game, I think he affected or
the London game in Jacksonville, or Jacksonville game in London.
Speaker 8 (10:00):
He I mean, he affected that game more than anybody.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
You know.
Speaker 10 (10:03):
I said last year led the league and assists, So
it was nice to see him finish and get one.
And I think what the coolest part is you see
how happy his teammates are for him, and you know,
that's just the type of guy he is. And he's
just an unselfish player. He's not worried about the stats
at all. You know, obviously he wants to get sex
just like everybody else, but he just wants to win
and play good defense, and so he's in a good place.
Speaker 9 (10:23):
Layton Wake and Nate wambol And talked about how much
they communicate, like, you know, just sets the defense to
adjust before the snap.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Just what have you noticed out of sort.
Speaker 9 (10:31):
Of the connection that they've build since Nate's gotten.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Here and what does it do for you as a
coordinator to have.
Speaker 8 (10:36):
That on the field.
Speaker 10 (10:37):
Yeah, you know, it's really feels like they've known each
other forever. They played in the uh I think it
was the East West game together in college, so, you know,
and obviously the same conference and everything coming out, so
they've been you know, pretty close really since Nate got here.
And those are like two coaches on the field. Those
guys wanted to, you know, ever wanted to coach. They
would be excellent coaches and it's great to have them.
They were really extensions of the coaching staff. There's a
(11:00):
lot of stuff that they're suggesting to us that we
do and we're listening to them. It's always just back
and forth and uh, you know, they take stuff into
their row's hands.
Speaker 8 (11:07):
And those are two of the.
Speaker 10 (11:07):
Best communicators I've ever been around, and uh, you know,
it's we're lucky to have them.
Speaker 12 (11:11):
What does it take to be a communicator on the
field for a player, Well, you got to know the defense,
and you got to have trust and you got to
have confidence in it because you got to speak loudly,
so you know, you talk about communication, the volume that
you're that you're speaking with.
Speaker 10 (11:24):
You know, you're talking to a ton of other guys,
and these guys are depending on you. So first you
got to you got to know it, and you you
got to have confidence in it. And and a lot
of that's also you know, you know, signals, different things
like that.
Speaker 8 (11:35):
Some of it's real subtle, you know, just kind of
subtle talking.
Speaker 10 (11:37):
You know what you're doing, whether we're making this check
or this call, or I'm taking this inside move, different
things like that. So, uh, you know, there's a game
within the game that I think all the players, if
you ask them, you they probably know better than me.
Speaker 8 (11:49):
But we have we try to emphasize it as much
as we can.
Speaker 11 (11:52):
What have you been able to see with Davis Allen
as far as his past catching ability through this season?
Speaker 13 (11:57):
Yeah, he's got mits.
Speaker 14 (11:58):
You could see that coming out of Clemson, Lesson and
their team did an awesome job.
Speaker 13 (12:02):
It's just you know, seeing what his superpower really is.
Speaker 14 (12:05):
Uh and uh And it's not just that obviously he's
in both phases.
Speaker 13 (12:09):
It's doing a really good job. The whole group is
what's his development been like that. It's been it's been good.
Speaker 14 (12:15):
I mean he you know, he came in as a
mature rookie, you know, and did some things, particularly in
that back half of the year. You think about the
screen he con versus Baltimore for a touchdown, awesome stick China,
that he convers Detroit in the playoff game, amongst other things.
Speaker 13 (12:28):
And that was his rookie year. So his development has
only continued.
Speaker 14 (12:31):
He's only gotten more and more comfortable, good player, better person.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Delonte's first touchdown on Sunday it was a third particular
love where you know, it's like the depot, which really
focused on the bron Like, how does that ability to
deploy their kind of open number of other guys on
the outside.
Speaker 14 (12:49):
Yeah, I mean it's a numbers game, right, So if
you're gonna stop one thing, you would think offensively. I mean,
you got the pen in your hand, you can do
the other. So you know, if you load the box,
you have opportunities on the outside, Davante amongst all our
other guys if you want to play a little bit softer,
having the ability to be in thirteen personnel and be
effective running the football. So obviously that was a numbers
(13:09):
game on that particularly play and Matthew and DeVante made
it come to life.
Speaker 11 (13:12):
Is there anything that stands out about the way that
those two communicate, in particular Matthew Devonte in terms of
just two scrimmage or practice whatever.
Speaker 14 (13:21):
Yeah, I mean they had a quick adjustment.
Speaker 13 (13:24):
I guess you could say in the game.
Speaker 14 (13:26):
That's not the first time that they've communicated, you know,
verbally and non verbally as they've been.
Speaker 13 (13:30):
Out there on the sideline.
Speaker 14 (13:31):
But just got two veterans that have played this game
a long time, played really good football for a long
time that understand and you know the nuances in particularly
what we're trying to get done. So just growing and growing,
you know, that communication. And it's been cool to watch secause.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
He wanted to work for style offense. I mean seen
have buns that process.
Speaker 14 (13:53):
You wanted to I'm sorry you wanted to, Yes, I gotcha, Yeah,
I mean it's uh, it's been a fun process for
all of so I think even our players, you know,
you'd have to ask them that, but just be able
to just mix it, mix and match it. Getting more
and more people involved, you know, both just whether they're
just on the field or producing from a statistical standpoint,
(14:15):
But now it's been it's been cool. It's cool about
our guys. They're they're unselfish. They they love other people's successes,
you know, so if they're not on the field that
they're they're scaled back a little bit. They're pumped, you know,
as long as we're moving that ball forward and seeing
their boys make plays.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Do you think this is the best the offensive line
has played since you've been here? And if so, is
that a health thing or is that just a continuity
thing that they are. They are a solid group now
that just knows how to get the job done.
Speaker 14 (14:46):
Yeah, I'm not going to answer if I think it's
the best.
Speaker 13 (14:49):
I just think that, you know, each week.
Speaker 14 (14:52):
They're continuing to gel and continue to get more and
more confidence.
Speaker 13 (14:55):
They're working well with each other.
Speaker 14 (14:57):
And again we've had, you know, some mix and matches,
you know, each and every week, but you know, amongst
that group, they believe in each other, they work well
with each other. I think Coleman in the middle just
provides such a great leadership for that group. I think
Ryan Wendell has done a terrific job with those guys
just relaying information. He's one of the smartest humans I've
been around in terms of coaching. He just says, it
(15:19):
says things so easily to absorb, the information so easy
to absorb. So I think, just all in all, that
group has performed well, and I think there's a lot
more out there for him. I think each and every
week is different in this league. But I think they're
just continue.
Speaker 7 (15:31):
To go up.
Speaker 13 (15:32):
And you know, but you got to prove it every week.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
Mike, as well as you know their coaching staff, they
knows you, They know you guys. How do you describe
for you the challenge of that this.
Speaker 7 (15:41):
Week in the game.
Speaker 14 (15:42):
For yeah, each and every week's challenging, you know, I mean,
and fortunately, but unfortunately, I think a lot of us
know a lot of people that we've been going against. Obviously,
this this one's a little bit different, particularly with Sala,
you know, being with them for the two years in
New York.
Speaker 13 (15:56):
But each week's challenging, you know what.
Speaker 14 (15:59):
I guess for these guys being a divisional opponent just
like Seattle, just like Arizona.
Speaker 13 (16:03):
Just don't overthink it either.
Speaker 14 (16:05):
You know, it's always going to be about our eleven guys,
you know, putting them in positions to be successful whatever that.
Speaker 13 (16:10):
You know might entail, So don't overthink it.
Speaker 6 (16:12):
How how is there one thing that you take out
of the loss to them earlier that for lack of
better work, learn from your mistakes, learn behavior.
Speaker 14 (16:21):
Yeah, and again that's you know obviously that game, and
so you can you can put yourself in that position
right as a player, as a unit and teach off
that stuff. But wins, losses, you know, draws for Green
Bay this year, you can learn from all those situations,
you know, So there's there's plenty in that. Again, you
learn a lot from from that loss. You learn a
(16:42):
lot from Winds. So you know, each week's its own
has played.
Speaker 9 (16:46):
A lot of tight ends the past two weeks on
the field. At the same time, last.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Two games, you should say, just what do you.
Speaker 9 (16:53):
Like about what that has brought and how do you
feel like that maybe helps staff or out?
Speaker 13 (16:58):
Just yeah, is there.
Speaker 14 (17:00):
They're smart, they're tough, they're good dudes, they're versatile, all
four of the guys.
Speaker 13 (17:07):
It's like, who do you want here?
Speaker 14 (17:08):
And it's like I have trust in all four of them,
And I should say we have trust in all four
of those guys in all the phases. Protection, run game
and then in the past game. You know, so each
one has their own little uniqueness to them, I guess
you could say, but all four are versatile and can
do what I just said. So it's been cool to watch.
Again those guys go out, receivers come off the field,
(17:29):
but those receivers are pumped to see those guys out there,
you know, performing because again they just want to see
the rams move the ball forward and score points.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
Let's still find about this San Francisco defense.
Speaker 14 (17:38):
Without Fred Warmer, that they don't have one of the
best linebackers to play over the last you know, ten years,
or obviously hasn't been in for ten but but it's
you know, creeping up to there. But their style play
hasn't changed at all, you know Fred. What Fred does
from behind the scenes is important. What he does in
front of you guys on Sundays, he provides such a
leadership and such a mental of how he goes about
(18:01):
not just coming out the tunnel on Sunday and playing,
but the energy he provides on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, the
energy provides in the meeting room. That stuff carries over
to these guys, like you can see a lot of
the same traits that Fred had a young guy that
he's instilling into this linebacking corps, but their units.
Speaker 13 (18:18):
So yeah, he's not out there.
Speaker 14 (18:20):
Yeah, you want to play, you know, a team when
they have their best players, because that's what this league's about.
But his presence is definitely still felt there for sure, Mike.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
That game wasn't against forty nine ers, wasn't played so
long ago. But does it feel like it has with
the way your offense has.
Speaker 14 (18:37):
Kind of Yeah, you know, Gary, each week is its own,
like I said, you know, and so whenever that was,
it does feel like it was a long time ago.
But shooting New Orleans feels like a long time ago.
After you have to dive back into this defense going
up to Levi's you know.
Speaker 13 (18:51):
So yeah it was.
Speaker 14 (18:54):
But here we are again, another divisional opponent, you know,
five weeks apart from each other.
Speaker 15 (19:02):
Feel good Thursday practice. We made it through and uh,
I'm like the juices start flowing. Get a couple of backslaps.
On Sunday, I'm like, I'll be ready.
Speaker 8 (19:09):
To roll.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Where you both to practice participate.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yep, felt good.
Speaker 13 (19:15):
I was one of are a good run.
Speaker 15 (19:19):
Play today they got got pought by one of the
guys and I made it through, so so I was like,
that's a good sign.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Was the coaching station.
Speaker 15 (19:27):
I'm sure there was a yeah. They probably skipped a
beat for a second and then they saw me keep running.
Speaker 8 (19:34):
So they're like, all right, we're good.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
We're good.
Speaker 11 (19:37):
We're able to uh take advantage of practicing some of
those new handshakes with Tay last week.
Speaker 15 (19:44):
We we don't get a ton of ops so like
so that I'm like, I feel like that I knew
that wasn't my moment. I think that the kip was
kind of out of I'm like, I was just hype
for my guy. That was not that was not going
in for our handshake. I'm like the part of it,
I'm like, I'm like, I'll wait for you guys to
see it.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
But it's good.
Speaker 7 (20:00):
Be better than that for sure.
Speaker 5 (20:01):
The games against forty nine ers typically very physical with
that defense coming off a rib situation. How do you,
I mean, do you just go into that play it
the way you've always played it?
Speaker 7 (20:15):
No problem, Yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 15 (20:17):
I think one of the one of the sayings that
I have for the game is no fear. So I'm
gonna go out there and treat that game like every
other Sunday and prepare my body the best I can
for the weekend. Then when the Sunday go, when Sunday comes,
to let it all out.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
Sometimes in life you learn our best lessons and losing,
what what did you learn about yourself this team in
that tough loss.
Speaker 7 (20:38):
To them in Week five?
Speaker 15 (20:40):
I think something that coach kind of preached the team
was the competitive stamina, and I think that's something that
he's He's preached kind of before that game, but it
was kind of a moment where the deeper understanding kind
of what that meant for our journey, and I think
that was something that we kind of took from that game,
and just that sustained execution. Like the competitive stamina involves
so many different things, but the sustain execution all the
(21:00):
way through the cycle of the snap, and I feel
like we we've had moments and there's that you can
win the beginning cycle of the snap and you can
lose the end cycle of the snap. So I'm making
it through that final whistle for sure.
Speaker 11 (21:12):
That game.
Speaker 15 (21:15):
Just I guess like a disappointed feeling, not even like
the losses. You come out and be like, wow, we
we got out schemed. We just but I feeling like
it was just a lack of execution on our part.
And but the moments that we had to to win
and take advantage of the game and take momentum, we
didn't execute type a little bit more. I guess now
(21:35):
that learning that we are play these guys multiple times
a year, I'm like, I guess these ones are a
little bit more important. But I'm like every Sunday, I'm
excited for the challenge because it presents a new a
new challenge throughout the week to sustain and go out
there and perform on Sundays.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
The tight race to top of the NFC West.
Speaker 7 (21:54):
Oh great.
Speaker 15 (21:57):
About at any juice to this matchup, I wouldn't say
there's any extra juice needed, like especially against this opponent
with the history that we have and the want to
go out here and keep the momentum that we've been
playing with after coming from the buying right before. So
I think it's gonna be exciting for us to go
out there and I feel like we've Coach has been
asking for a complete game and we feel like we're
right there on the bridge of it.
Speaker 12 (22:19):
And you've talked about your relationship with your shred to
warn or did you have any contact with him after
his injury.
Speaker 8 (22:25):
Yeah, I shot him over text hoping that.
Speaker 15 (22:27):
I mean, I had seen the injury and just there
are some scary moments in the game of football. You
never wish injury upon anybody, just because you know the
dedication and the work that it goes that goes into
a season.
Speaker 8 (22:39):
But I'm hoping him a speed of recovery.
Speaker 15 (22:41):
And I know he's just the person that he is,
that he's involved with his team and can maybe some
extra time with his kids.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
So I'm sure there's a there's a blessing in disguise there.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
I know a few weeks different. But how do you
and the rest of the wide receivers.
Speaker 10 (22:52):
Prepare for a team that you've already played earlier in
the season, Like, is the process different than a team
that you haven't played in the season?
Speaker 15 (22:59):
Oh, I think it's a little bit of a mixture
of seeing what especially when they have an injury go
down in the defense, and kind of how they've they've
changed and some of the personneling personnel.
Speaker 8 (23:08):
Sorry, but I think it's exciting.
Speaker 15 (23:10):
Because you try to build off some of the things
that you have tendencies as a players, So you watch
some of the clips from the last game and be like,
all right, how do we build off this our coaches
and how we game plan some of this stuff? And
then it also is a challenge because they know some
of our plays too, so that the moment of contact
is a fun one because everybody knows where it's coming.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Is this offense starting to realize its potential with what
we've seen in the last couple of weeks on what
you guys have done on the scoreboard.
Speaker 15 (23:33):
I think it's some that Coach has been preaching to
us from from the beginning of the season. I just
that the the kind of finishing playing to the echo
of the whistle, that that that full execution of that
entire snap. Just feel like throughout the season there's been
moments where we've been good at the beginning, good at
the end, and parts of the middle haven't been good.
But I think putting it all together is some that
has been building each week and we feel like we
still got a lot of a lot of room to improve.
(23:55):
But where everybody feels like we're moving in stride, Captain
Nine's got us moving in the right direct.
Speaker 11 (24:00):
So speaking of Matthew. Just what was your reaction on
the you know, thirty nine years touchdown pass that he
had to you, and did you expect that you or
did you realize you had made Jared speechless?
Speaker 15 (24:13):
I thought I thought the clip of Verse being speechless was.
I'm like, I can't wait to save that one because
I'm like, not a lot of people can say they've
done that, and I take pride in that now and
I'm like, like, that's a that's a great accomplishment for me.
But uh nine, I'm like, he he doesn't miss and
I feel like the level of confidence that he plays
with right now is just oozing out into everybody else.
(24:33):
So it feels fun to be out there. And I
always went the balls up in the air. I trust
that place, man, And I'm like, there's the one spot
it could have been, and I'm just glad I got
got my butt cheeked down, I think, And uh, there's
a We've all seen the clips of him him getting
hurt with the shoulder and the things that he've done
even just since I've been here, ribs and the other
things that he pushes through. So I think I'm just
(24:55):
that the grittiness of that that you can feel just
kind of in his voice and just the way he moves,
and especially in the huddle when he when he gets
down there, it is quiet in the huddle everybody. That's
the command that he has makes it real fun because
when you go out there and you're like, all right,
I want to do my job well, but I also
want to do it for this guy.
Speaker 7 (25:11):
So we know how you.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Guys as an organization, you about the stats, but statistic
when Matthews putting up one of his past season it's like,
is there anything different that you notice about whay He's
spending them all out there?
Speaker 8 (25:25):
I think the time off must have done with great justice.
Speaker 15 (25:27):
I'm like, I really, I'm like, if that's what we
need to do, and I'm like, I think he may
have another ten years later him. I'm like, we can
avoid the offseason and just roll for set or twenty
one games and I'm like, we can plan on that.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
I know you guys are you get ready for every week,
but I remember what the locker room was like after
you lost in Week five to the forty nine ers.
I'm just kind of curious has any of that jews
carried over to what we were.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
About to see on Sunday.
Speaker 16 (25:51):
I mean, yeah, whenever you lose a game, you go
up against that team again, you get lucky, you know,
to give him again, especially you know they in the division,
you mean a little bit more. Obviously every game the same,
but like it's just not even like uh old division
vivals or this that the third like it, it's just the.
Speaker 8 (26:04):
Forty nine ers. It's just mean more.
Speaker 6 (26:07):
We sometimes in life learn our best law lessons and
us for you, what did you learn about this.
Speaker 7 (26:13):
Team or yourself or anything? Cause that was such a tough,
unique loss.
Speaker 16 (26:18):
We learned a little bit about our weaknesses and our strengths,
and we learned how to turn our weaknesses into strengths.
And obviously you wanna, you know, strengthen your strengths. So
we've learned or we gotta be out in this aspect.
We gotta be better than that aspect. You know, they
were successful in this area. They weren't in this area.
So let's keep it like that. Let's fix this well weaknesses.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Do you feel like do you guys have turned out
his strengths.
Speaker 16 (26:36):
In the last five years, you know, getting away ridden
of the uh quick passes, you know, a l u
especial against the forty nine. They were able to get
a little quick passes in quick through game and everything
like that, and that's kind of where they thrive. You know,
if we're able to get rid of that, it's gonna
be a good game.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
How do you eliminate that?
Speaker 5 (26:51):
I mean, you you guys have a strong rush, but
ha ha, if they can offset that by getting rid
the ball quickly, how do you How do you make.
Speaker 7 (26:59):
Up for that?
Speaker 16 (27:00):
I mean, I ain't gonna talk too much because I'm
not a dB or linebacker or that type of linebacker,
but it's just you know, kind of switching up the coverage.
It's getting a little more sticky on things, citing. This
is something that you know, especially when they start doing
these long developing routes that they're able to do. You know,
when they get themselves in some successful positions, you know,
being able to sticky and as us as a rush,
they just get there, get home.
Speaker 7 (27:19):
This is a rivalry that goes back literally generations.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
In your second year in it, how would you describe?
Speaker 16 (27:26):
No, it's it's aggressive. I mean I got teammates. Uh
Me and Fists both have teammates from Florida State. You
know with Nardol Green and Tatum patuone that you know
they went to Floyd stay with us. It was like
my brothers and everything like that. You know, they they
play for the forty Uniteds. They text me Monday or
Tuesday a happy Birthday. I say, thank you got my phone.
You my OP this week, like like I'm not messing
with you this week.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
You're my OPT. Like it's simple?
Speaker 11 (27:46):
Is that? So?
Speaker 16 (27:47):
Like even even your best face, even your brothers, like
it's just different this week.
Speaker 11 (27:53):
Will the birthday wishes to be a little bit different?
Speaker 7 (27:55):
Post game?
Speaker 16 (27:56):
Oh yeah, now it's gonna be different post game. I
want them to have sad eyes. I'm not gonna lie
to you, honestly, don't I nah. I just realized, like
I learned like a couple of months ago, like the
standings and everything like that.
Speaker 7 (28:14):
I just kind of show up, what your What.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Do you make of Matt Jones so far this season?
Replacing a party.
Speaker 16 (28:20):
Now, he's definitely been successful. I mean you saw his
game against us. He saw how he was, you know,
successful in being able to do this, being able to
do that, you know, even when we was able to
get to him and hit him in the pocket, you're
still able to stay poised. You know, he's a good quarterback.
I mean, I tell everybody else, doesn't matter if you
will first a second, if you're an NFL quarterback, you
want the best in the world.
Speaker 7 (28:35):
So he's a good quarterback.
Speaker 11 (28:38):
Were you surprised there was a moment when you were
miked up that you would actually not have anything to
say when you were speechless when you were miked up
last week? Were you surprised there was a moment where
you were actually speechless and he.
Speaker 7 (28:49):
Talked about pups. Catch it Cuz.
Speaker 16 (28:52):
I watched that catch. I watched a fall down. I'm like, damn,
Like that's tough. And then he hit me in my
chest that kind of a little bit. Thought about to
help him back then spookily, I don't want to get fired,
so I
