Niels gaat in deze aflevering in gesprek met filmregisseur Stijn Coninx. Stijn en zijn vrouw dragen, net als de schoonouders van Niels, de genetische afwijking die doofheid veroorzaakt. Ook zij waren zich daar niet van bewust tot hun tweede kind plots doof geboren werd. Volgens de genetica was hun kans op een doof kind 1 op 4. De realiteit bleek anders: 3 van hun 4 kinderen werden doof geboren. Hoe ging Stijn daarmee om?
En doet de maatschappij voldoende voor gezinnen die met doofheid geconfronteerd worden? Is er bijvoorbeeld genoeg terugbetaling voor een cochleair implantaat en waar kunnen ouders terecht die met vragen zitten? Ondertussen telt Niels verder af naar de resultaten van zijn DNA-test.
