We will learn: How and why some psychiatric medications cause harm and keep people ill. Why and how metabolism and mitochondria can explain all the symptoms of mental illness. How to self-assess your metabolic and mental health. What if I told you that new research is showing that everything we’ve previously known about mental health is wrong? New research shows that mental health is directly impacted by our metabolism. So this episode is about the ways food and lifestyle impacts our minds, how exactly mental illness is related to your metabolic function, and what you can do to improve it. Our guest is Dr. Christopher M. Palmer. He is a Harvard psychiatrist and researcher, working at the interface of metabolism and mental health. He is the Director of the Department of Postgraduate and Continuing Education at McLean Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Most recently, he has developed the first comprehensive theory of what causes mental illness, integrating existing theories and research into one unifying theory—the Brain Energy Theory of Mental Illness. This is pioneering research so get excited because it will change the way you view and approach mental health.
