Foi debaixo de um sol quente que, no Jardim Mário Soares, na sede nacional do PS, em Lisboa, José Luís Carneiro se apresentou neste sábado como o futuro do partido, "por decisão individual", e apelou à união dos socialistas em torno da sua candidatura. O até agora único candidato ao cargo de secretário-geral do PS avisou que o partido, depois da derrota nas legislativas de 18 de Maio, poderá ser ainda mais prejudicado se os socialistas ficarem a "olhar para o umbigo" e se golpearem "reciprocamente". Se for eleito líder, promete uma oposição firme, mas sem ignorar os necessários "consensos democráticos".
