Speaker 1 (00:01):
Okay, welcome to a very special episode of Teal Talk,
the official podcast for the Jacksonville Janquins in the UK
play at Ireland. Coming up on this episode, we've got
my conversation with Jacksonville Jaguars rookie defensive back Jarryon Jones
about all things London, how he was excited to be
here and what he's looking for to do actually in
the UK as well. And I've just caught up with
(00:25):
Jacks fans Molly and James as well straight after that
lost to the Chicago Bears, so we'll hear from them
as well. I'm Jay Lawrence, still no relation. He's Key
Ram Surin and the face of the Jacksonville Jankuers, JP
Shandrey here.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
As well, face ugly face.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
You were on radiator that right right, Thank goodness, that's
going to be with you, guys.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Tough day at the office with the Jags.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
I mean, thirty five sixty it wasn't even that close.
I mean they turn the ball over a couple of
times and the secondary just had issues, certainly.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Done around the red zone.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Caleb Williams took advantage and hit Camet twice and hits
the veteran Tina Allen twice and they had Montera Brown
trying to cover him a couple of times in key moments.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
And couldn't do it.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
And there are some big questions piled up for this
Jaguars team right now.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
So a tough day is discipline one of those questions.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
JP.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
I'm thinking penalties in the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, there was that drive.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
They had three defensive penalties in a row, right, remember
that and kept him on the field.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
There's some of that that kind of just.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I don't know clearly there's something to that, but it
discipline is one thing. These were holding calls in the
second It wasn't like they were. There are other penalties
that I think you could say more that that's a
discipline issue some of us just playing football, and it
just piled up on one drive.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
It's unfortunate to see that.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Yeah, the battles of Tom and hospital saying right now,
So I kind of feel like we're literally like minutes
after the game has ended. So this is when we're
going to We're going to feel one way. I think
it's going to be now. Sometimes there is the benefit
of having a day's grace afterwards to sort of you know,
maybe calm down a little bit. But I feel like
we should start with the Let's just start at the
(02:10):
beginning of the game, because I felt after scoring so
many points against the Colts last week, the Jaguars seemed
like they were on a roll with their first offensive
drive and that's what I felt good.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
Yeah, fourteen plays, man, they were on the field, kept
moving the ball, third down conversions.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
So after I mean, it ended with a field goal,
but after that I felt positive. That's the only part
of the offense that I felt positive about today. And
you know what, there was a part actually later on
in the game because there were a lot of drops today.
You know, there was a part later on in the
game where I thought, well, again, week after week, the
only person that we seem to talk about on this
(02:47):
podcast Is Brian Thomas Jr. Because it looked like he
was going to score another touchdown. Even Brian Thomas Junior
miss dropped to catch in the end zone. And you know,
for me, this is the whole round the performance. Really,
it seemed like you were taking everything that you know,
we felt about the Jaguars and how they haven't been
(03:09):
performing over the past few games before the Colts. It
all just went into one game there JP it all
just seemed to be the same thing over and over again.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah, drops, Dave Davis had one fumble.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
I mean, Evan though he.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Had a great game today, ten catches, I mean that's
on the turf one time.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Guy's got to make plays. That's the thing.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Coaches can do so much, right. They can't run out
there and make catches for guys. So that's the balance, right,
and now you can argue to put some guys in better.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Spots and call better plays and key moments. And I
think it's a two way street.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
So that's been the conversation all season long going in
So it's just it does feel like we've had this
conversation after games already this season, same idea, Guys got
to make plays, coaches got to coach better, and it's
all kind of comes around in a circle, the same
story every week.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
The pregame, I came into this and it felt like
the Bills game last year. There were way more Bears
fans today than there were Jags fans. It felt like
a Bears home game, and I felt so positive because
it reminded me of what it felt like before that
Bill's game and the Drags came out and dominated the
Bills that day, and that just didn't happen.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
That first drive.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
I felt really good, but then there was really for
me nothing to celebrate after. I mean, the pick decent, right,
but that was also a bad throw. But there was
really nothing to celebrate.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Despite the fact that it's you know, you mentioned Evan
Ingram there a second ago, and how it's the beginning
of the second quarter. I believe it was that there
Eving Ingram. Was it a fumble right at the beginning
of the second quarter quarter. However, it does seem a
little bit absurd when you say Evan Ingram ten targets,
ten catches over one hundred yards, and you know, I
(05:01):
think that what that does prove is that, despite the
fact that this game was not positive for the Jaguars,
how much has Trevor missed Evan Ingram as a target?
Speaker 2 (05:11):
A little bit?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
A lot of that was like some they're down a
couple scores late, and they're throwing kind of underneath and
the flat and like so that kind of adds up
in a time where they're down a couple of scores unfortunately,
and it's just kind of the way it goes sometimes.
I mean, yeah, I don't even know where to start here.
I mean, this is it's so frustrating because it just
(05:33):
seems like Trevor can't push it down the field, and
when he does, he's inconsistent down the field. And then
they had some moments where they ran okay early in
the game. Biggsby had a couple of holes. I mean,
Travis Etn had a hamstring issue, I guess and didn't
come back, and he had a shoulder issue going in.
So Bigsby had some moments, but they couldn't extend that.
(05:54):
And so I don't know what the what's the identity
of the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Nobody knows what that is. That's been the question all season.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Long, and we still aren't even close to an answer
to what they do.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Well, I'm close to an answer. The answer is. We
talked about it on Monday. The Drags are one in five.
They've got one victory. The one victory is when you
weren't in the same country as this is the answer.
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Man, Yeah, it must be.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
I mean, I guess, I know we're kind of drawing
at straws here.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
This is tough, but that's what it is.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
They don't they don't have a hang their head on
philosophy that they do time and again. You know, Okay,
these are the Jaguars. They're gonna do this in a
key moment because they haven't had enough of those successful
to do it. I mean it's not even there's nothing
on defense. They've done well lately, especially in the second year.
(06:47):
They got a couple of sacks today, but whatever, I mean,
Cale Williams can Ronnie ran effectively on him and got
out of pive. There's a lot of issues right now.
I don't know what this team is, but they are
one in five. That's what they are.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
They all one in five. And this was the first
game in London this season for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Means
that Jaggs fan base did turn out. It was a
Bears home game, a lot of Bears fans, there's no
doubt about that. But even just walking around you can
just see the smiles on Peeter's faces here in London
because the Jaguars are back, you know, and I'll see
what we're hear from them now. Actually, because despite the
fact that the Jaguars lost, here's Molly, here's James, who, yeah,
(07:21):
not happy with the result. Very happy to see their
Jaguars though. Okay, I'm with Molly and James straight after
the Jacksonville Jaguars loss against the Chicago Bears. I don't
know if this is a stupid question, but Molly, how
are you feeling disappointed?
Speaker 5 (07:35):
I mean, I was excited coming into the game from
the win last week and I thought, you know, we
had the momentum to do well this game. But yeah,
I do feel disappointed. I mean, I'm still happy to
be here. I'm tough that we get to actually see
the game and you know, we get to be a
part of it all. But yeah, I wish I would
just wish we'd you know, completed things a lot better
and pushed a bit more.
Speaker 6 (07:55):
To get that win.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yeah, I know, and in the first quarter as well, James,
do it look like the first drive that the Jangs
really had on offense? It's like, okay, you know, scoring
so many points in the last game against the Coles
is like right here, here we go. But it just didn't.
It just didn't carry on to it.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
I thought we had them.
Speaker 7 (08:11):
I turned to these two and I thought we've got
them on the jet lag or something, because what is
this team and what have you done with the Jackson's
Jacksonville checks. This were in the first five weeks. I
was excited and then we just didn't. We just didn't
maintain like I think, I think, if I'm being honest,
you know, they were they were slow to start again.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
We never really got going.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
Like, yeah, the offense did all right, but I haven't
seen the stats, but a lot of drops on the
offense today, I think, like that one gave Davis in
the corner which would have been a touchdown, catching them
Christian Kirk which all went for his hands.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Brian Thomas Junior. Of course it has been so good
as well. Yeah, yeah, that's the thing. It's like, if
they all go your way, it's a different ball game.
But the fact is they didn't go our way. Haven't
gone our way all season, and really like we're in
a bad place. I hate hates me to say it.
We're not in a good place right now. And I
think it's that we're one of those teams. I know
(09:05):
it's an easy thing.
Speaker 6 (09:06):
To say, but we're such a confidence team.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
Like when we play well, like when one side of
the ball plays well, the other side of the ball
plays well, like when and it's really like when the
pass rush gets going, that's when we're good and that
fuels the offense and the pass rush. Today, I mean,
there was odd calls on defense, like Trayvon Walker and
Josh Heines Allen on the side for quite I don't
know if that's not an injury thing, but I was
a bit like we really want them on even even if.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
They're not pass rushing. It's just like it's another thing
in Caleb Williams's mind, and it was just it just
it just seemed a NodD and it was.
Speaker 7 (09:37):
To be honest, it was really like a Jaggs this
season performance just all at sorts like it didn't it didn't.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
I didn't really know what was going on. Talk to
me about the vibes in the stadium. So a lot
of Chicago Bears fans there, so like I talked to me, like,
you know, your block was, were you just like standing
out or what?
Speaker 5 (09:53):
Yeah, there was lots of Chrgo Bears fans. We were
I'd say, yeah, we stuck out like sore thumbs, definitely.
But everyone was so friendly everyone. We just we had
the banter. Everyone was, you know, whining each other up,
but everyone was really supportive.
Speaker 6 (10:06):
As well.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
So it was great.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
It was.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
It was a bit overwhelming at times with just the
sheer noise from the Bears fans because they've traveled well,
but it was it was great fun.
Speaker 6 (10:15):
It was good.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
And you need to tell me through what you're wearing
as well. You're just turned up and like you know,
you're Trevor Lawrence, Josh Haines, Alan Jersey or whatever. No
you get talk to me through. Talk to me through
what you're wearing.
Speaker 7 (10:24):
Joans this okay, so this is this is ten years old,
is going to be bobbily but it's a.
Speaker 6 (10:29):
Jaguar one's it.
Speaker 7 (10:31):
And then we got these black t shirts made with
numbers I actually I mustn't better have my Morris Jones Drew.
Speaker 6 (10:36):
But we had a little little conversation.
Speaker 7 (10:38):
We wanted to be in Unison, we wanted to be
looking the same, cohesive.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
Mindful, and you know, it's just what we're coming is.
Speaker 7 (10:48):
You know, it's a bit of a joke and everyone's like, oh,
you look like rubbish and it's like, oh, you're like
Teddy Bears and all that, and it's a good.
Speaker 6 (10:54):
Fun and you know it.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
But I'm not gonna lie. You must be sweating.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
No, today it was nice and more.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Last year we were sweating as baking, but this year
we're mctually quite pleased, feeling cozy.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
All right, let's look forward to the next game. Of course,
as at Wembley Stadium is in New England, Patriots like,
are you are you going? How are you feeling about it?
Is it just a new game, new life, new atmosphere. Yeah,
we're hopeful. I mean, we have to take each game
as it comes. You've got to keep being positive and
pushing forward. We're big Jags fans and we're always going
to be DAGs fans, so we've just got to be hopeful.
(11:26):
That's just part and postil of being a Jacks fan
these days.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
Oh no, we're Jags fans. We're delusional. Let's be honest.
Speaker 7 (11:32):
Come Wednesday, this is forgotten about and we're probably thinking like,
oh win this, smash it.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
When's the playoffs coming?
Speaker 7 (11:40):
But let's be real for a minute, Like, I don't
think we've been where we want to be this season.
I don't like we've been even close to be where
we want to be this season. If you even if
you listen to the interviews from like the coaches, right
they're saying, oh, you know, we've got we've got a
good enough personnel, But like, I don't, I don't mean,
we have to be honest. I think the secondary has
been in this you for a while, and I think
(12:02):
I think we were really exposed to it. I know,
like I know Cisco had the interception, but let's be honest,
that was a really poor throat from Williams. And actually,
if you if you look at it, like we give,
we give a lot of separation to opposition receivers, and
I think you know, if you've got half your defense,
which isn't shutting down the passing game, it's always that
(12:23):
you're always giving opposition teams, you know, that little edge
to come back, and you know it's we we get
we're getting found out and we're getting exposed. So I
hate to say it, but I think I don't think
Doug PE's got the answers anymore.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
We're going to put that to one side going into the.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Game with Wembley. All right, I'll just go one last question.
I'm going to leave this to you and then Molly.
Every week we get someone to give the prediction for
the next game. You're representing the fans this week. So
it's I mean, we're saying this right after the Bears game, obviously,
but Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots give me a score prediction.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Oh my gosh, I think we're gonna win. I'm gonna
be delusional and so I think we're gonna win. I'm
gonna be hopeful this Actually I think it's gonna be tight.
So I'm thinking, like, no, no, no, the Jags. It's
gonna be close. But yeah, I think we're gonna do it.
We're gonna We're gonna do it. We're gonna smash it.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
James obviously disappointed with the result, but very happy for
the Jag to be back in on you, I think right.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Being a fan since twenty thirteen, and JP and I
have been doing the show together for a few years,
you talk a lot about Jags losses, and there comes
a point when it's just part of the course. A
lot of the time, like JP said before, you talk
about this stuff all the time, and sometimes when you're
a Jags fan, you get used to losing and you
(13:47):
smile and you enjoy what you can. And the atmosphere
today was fantastic. There's some positives to take out of it.
And I think when you've been a Jags fan for
a long time, sometimes that's just the way you look
at it.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Yeah, I think it's I think it's difficult, though, isn't it,
Because I think that sometimes when there's so much build
ups or something that you know, when you see in
your team and all of that, and then it suddenly
you feel like But the good thing is that you
know that a few days later. I don't know if
rectifies the right word, but you know that maybe your
emotions can change if you get a victory. And it's
(14:17):
a home game of course at Wembley Stadium as well.
So what do you think jp that the Jackiars are
going to be thinking over the next few days. How
are they going to be able to get over the
hump without without being at home?
Speaker 2 (14:28):
You know?
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Well, I mean they used this as an advantage last
year where they were here, they were together, they were
away from the building, they were in a different environment,
they were in the countryside, like okay, it's like, let's
put up the fence around the Jaguars and everybody get
in and figure it out. And it was a good
thing for this team last year. Earlier in that season
(14:50):
it didn't work out at the end of the year,
but for this trip it did, so maybe there's something
to be said for that.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
They're going to be here. There's nowhere else forming to go.
We're on an island literally, you can't leave.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
So like you're you know, there'll be a day where
they have a day off I believe, to do whatever
they need to do in town. It's players get a
day off, It's how it works. And then they'll go
back to work I think on Tuesday and look at
the tape and then back of the practice field Wednesday.
And that's that's the routine of the NFL. The time
March is on. You can't cry about it for more
than twenty four hours. You gotta just find the corrections
(15:20):
that need to be made and then get back to work.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
So they'll go back to practice on.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Wednesday, work on some stuff, and Thursday again, Friday will
be kind of a lighter day, and then we'll see
it Wembley on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
That's that's really the nature.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Of You can't you can't really, That's all you can
do is go back and work. So there's gonna be
two things, right, I mean, the coaching staff has to
figure out how they can better put guys in position,
and the players got to have some kind of want.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
To about them. Do they want to do this? Can
they can? They? Sure they haven't shown it lately, But
they've got.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
To want to go through and and fight to the
finish in a game and get a win to go
back home. This is by week's not coming anytime soon either.
It's later in the year. The schedule gets really tough
when this team gets back to the States, so they
need to get a win in their pocket in the
worst way. But when the win is great, but they've
got to figure out how to operate. I think first
(16:19):
before they even you know, on both sides of the ball,
before they even worry about winning results.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Well here from Jaron Jones in a moment. But you know,
from your experience of talking to the Jaguars players whilst
they're here in London, they do they treat this as
like a break to enjoy that time here in London.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
I mean, for the most part, it feels like I mean,
they they give a little time to them to go
do things and all that. A lot of these guys
have been around it though before it's not the first
trip for most of these players, so.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
They've done the tourist bits. They've They've gone to the
London I they've gone to the London Dungeon before, right,
and then I'll do it again.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
They'll be community events and things like there's a school
visit that you know it's coming up on Monday, and
some other events like that that happened.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Business side has a lot of stuff going on. So
do they like it. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
If you win, you like everything. If they're losing, I
don't think they're gonna like it. But they were losing
it in the United States as well, so I think
that's kind of comes to goes. I think overall it's fine,
but I think it's really results based.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Is losing and going home to sleep in your own
bed different to losing and sleeping in a bed in
a hotel.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Losing sucks on any continent, I suppose, yeah. I mean,
I don't care if it's one point or like they
got blown out. It's not fun. It doesn't matter where
you are. Good football travels. Bad football travels too. Right now,
they're playing bad football.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
We spoke to Cambina Tool last week, who's very excited
to play at Wembley Stadium. His love of the Premier
League football. That's let's see my conversation with Jaron Jones
as well, he's very excited to be in London, but
for completely different reasons.
Speaker 8 (18:09):
Jaron Jones, Man, nice to how it feeling in the UK.
I feels good.
Speaker 9 (18:14):
You know, everything smells a little fresher out here, and
I was seeing a lot more green grass.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
What's it?
Speaker 1 (18:19):
What's it like? I mean, like touching down here, it
must have been like because it's your first time out
of you went to Canada before, but out of the US,
so I mean it must be Is it strange or what.
Speaker 9 (18:29):
I wouldn't say it's strange, but I think it's definitely
like like when I first got out of the playing
my inle like kind of smelled a little bit fresher.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
You know.
Speaker 9 (18:38):
I kind of like I kind of got out the
plane and I was like it kind of felt like
I was in a different place.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Now. You know, when you got drafted drafted the Jacksonville Jaguars,
I mean, Jags are played in London for such a
long time when it crossed your mind, Oh man, I'm
going to get to go out to the UK to
play some games.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
All right.
Speaker 9 (18:55):
So, like after I first got drafted, I kind of
looked at the schedule, you know, you look at the
home and away game, and then like two games had
like a British flag on. I was like, I don't
know why they got what does that mean? And so
when I got to ask some of the players and
I'm like, yeah, we're playing London back to back weeks,
I'm like, oh, well, okay, I didn't know that was gonna.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Happen, you know.
Speaker 9 (19:14):
So since since the time that I've learned we're gonna play,
you know, I've kind of been looking up like things
here and trying to find stuff to do. And the
most thing, the thing that I want to do the
most of shop Sun.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
And that's the benefit of being here for two games
is that hopefully you.
Speaker 8 (19:29):
Can have some time to like yeah, downtime to.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Go do that, because I mean that's quite exciting because like,
you know, sure you can.
Speaker 8 (19:36):
I mean, you're in London, man, you can get no
better than London. That's that much better than London.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
I mean, you know, is there anything specifically like you
want to go out and do. It's like, you know,
is it just shopping or is there anything you want
to go see?
Speaker 9 (19:49):
I want to go a shop, and then like I
want to see some art. I definitely want to see
some arts, like try to find like a museum or
something like that, like stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
I mean, I'm big.
Speaker 9 (19:58):
It's like like the kind of like fancy stuff for
like aesthetic type things stuff like that. So I definitely
want to get out and just walk. Like it's not
even like a major thing that I wanna do, I mean,
besides shocking, but I kind of really just want to
walk around and just see everything.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
So how was it playing right?
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Playing right over here? You're get it flying? Was it
just like headphones are on?
Speaker 4 (20:15):
You?
Speaker 9 (20:16):
Uh, what's the deal? It was headphones on and I
tried to go to sleep. I slept for a little
bit over half of the time, but like it was
kind of it felt some turbulence, you know, while we
were flying over, Like I was walking and I was
just watching everybody sleep. Saw some guys with their mouth
open sleep.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
He was out.
Speaker 9 (20:33):
You gonna tell me, like, yeah, ah dt day Thomas.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
His mouth was opens. I mean like Jackie has been
over for you know, such a long time, so you know,
so many of your teammates have been here, which means
I'm as human. There's been some conversations about what it's
like playing in the UK.
Speaker 9 (20:50):
What if your teammates so they said it was so
much like it was so fun, And they said, like
the fans that come to the football game, they kind
of make it. They'll kind of make it feel like
we're at home. And they were like, you could tell
likeveryone's loud.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Everyone you know love kind of loves football out here,
you know.
Speaker 9 (21:03):
So I got I just kind of feel like it's
you know, a blessing just being out here for real.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
I mean any differences that people telling you that, like
you know, playing in the Banker to all.
Speaker 9 (21:12):
They haven't really told me any differences for real. But
the weather, like you know, being in Florida is super hot.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
You know.
Speaker 9 (21:19):
When I stepped out the plane, I had like a
short sleeve shirt on and they kind of hit me
like it was freezing cold. I was like, oh, okay,
that's the difference right there. Since I've been out here,
it has been kind of cold.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Do you have any like, you know, message to any
you know, Jackson Jagons fans from the UK and on
and coming to the you know, the game you know,
at Wembley stage, just to be the home game.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
Man.
Speaker 8 (21:39):
Yeah, people so excited to come and see you.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Guys.
Speaker 8 (21:41):
You have a message with you.
Speaker 9 (21:42):
Please bring the energy, bring like you know, let everyone
in London know, like how we get down in Jacksonville,
you know, kind of bring them in and let him
understand like this this is how we do it, you know.
And just happy to be here.
Speaker 8 (21:54):
Cool man. Thank you so much for joy too, talk man,
appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Jones very excited for a bit fashion, very excited for
a little bit of art. That was a lovely chat.
It was a very nice play, very nice. He's nice,
isn't he a really nice guy? And of course he'll
now be looking towards the game. That's will the whole
team be looking towards the game at Wembley Stadium against
the New England Patriots home game as well, which you know,
(22:19):
we spoke a little bit earlier about the Chicago Bears
sort of owning the stadium really like you know the
Bills did last week. Key, but it's going to be different.
It's going to be Jags fan base, It's going to
be all things Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
Isn't it Wembley for I reckon since about twenty seventeen
when they absolutely dominated the Ravens. Really feels like a
Jags home game, right, But I do wonder after this season,
after today, do the Patriots come into that Wembley game
rubbing their hands together feeling like we've got this well not.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
The Patriots are not good either, true, you know, and
they got a rookie quarterback down maybe, so it's both
team searching for an answer, both teams. I mean, during
the jaguarsher the advantage with a rookie quarterback out there
didn't work out today with a rookie quarterback out there,
and we'll see.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
I like the idea. I like Wembley. I like playing there.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Jack's been blown out there too, now remember the Texans
got him.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
A few years ago in a blowout.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
It sounds like it's a given that they're gonna win
every game there and play great there. So there are
advantages to being there. They know the place, they know
the pitch, it's a different feeld.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
A week in the country makes a difference to the
Patriots coming over.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Right, there's all that combined. So, but it feels a
little bit different though. It is a synthetic kind of
blend now grass ntural grass. It's not as slick as
it was back in the early days of the Universe Stadium.
But there's something to be said for that too. So conditions,
the way that the pitch is, the whole.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Thing should be advantaged Jaguars. But do the Jaguars take
the advantage of it? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
And it'syfically you know this point. Actually, every single episode
we talk about the key matchups, we talk about something
that we're particularly focusing on in regards to New England
Patriots and what the Jags should be focused on. But
they've not been the most impressive team and you usually
say that the Patriots and usually would you know, focus
on something to do with the quarterback. But he's just
a it's just an unknown quantity right now, isn't he
(24:18):
Drake may So? I mean that does that make life
easier and more difficult? Do you think for Jacksonville?
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (24:23):
I mean you haven't seen a lot of them, and
all you really have as college and the little time
that he's actually.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Played, you just kind of hope that it's, uh, he's
still in that that that first few games not quite
used to it.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
In theory, when there's a rookie quarterback out there, you
put pressure on it and make everything.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Go fast for him.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
I mean the Jags little do a lot of They
don't blitz a lot anyway, but I mean they had
some times where they just couldn't get to killed and
then they did.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
He just ran away from it.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
And he's had a few games to almost get into
the league because the first couple of games for I mean,
I know that this is it doesn't quite work compared
and he's quarterback is different in one of that, but
the first couple games for Caleb weren't as assured maybe
as what was quite an accomplished performance today.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
First, that's right. Yeah, he's been better in the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
And you gotta remember too, this is the Jacks defense
has struggled against everybody their thirty second in the league and
pass defense coming in.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Could you argue it's the best team best team for
the Jacks to play the Patriots in this incurty.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
I mean, let's I mean, doesn't you've got to go
win against somebody sometime.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Might as well take advantage if if they're going to
be able to play like that.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
So I think in general, speed it up for the
rookie quarterback, make him think, change coverage, just do anything
you can. But did the Jaguars have the communication on
the back end and be able to do that consistently
and handle it on their own with all these changes
and ideas and philosophies want to do against what can
they do that and operate on their own? Never mind
who the quarterback is. I think that's a big question.
(25:54):
With so many injuries right now, guys off to the side,
I mean, that's it's a huge question.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
I hope the Patriots turn up tired, and I hope
Jags fans turn up in a big way and make
it feel like a home game and they just dominate,
and it's all turns around in that week of being
in the country, that week of bonding, that week of
being able to turn it around. I hope that comes
together next Sunday and it's just the start of something different.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
The Patriots should go out on a rager every night
until three of them more.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
That's what they should do. Just go wild. Enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
You in London, enjoy it. I love that advice of
JP Tell you what New England night before? Just stay up,
Just stay up, see what happens. You might do all right,
rememb there's something if you go to sleep, So what's
going on? You know, sitting the never sleep sort of
(26:50):
the this time every every single episode we do our
predictions for the next week. I know we are straight
after the Bears game. I know that Patriots haven't finished
they game, so inevitably after talking about how they're losing
to the Texans right now, they'll go back and it
will be an excellent win. Can we give our predictions
right now?
Speaker 2 (27:09):
JP?
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Do you feel up to it?
Speaker 2 (27:11):
Just I don't know what the hell this team's gonna do.
I have no idea. I don't know if.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
They're gonna, you know, score like they did last week
and throw the ball around and be efficient and do
things well and have a couple of breakaway touchdowns, or
they're gonna drop the ball.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
And fumble it. I mean, you have a pretty good
idea what the defense is gonna do.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
They're gonna give some stuff up at least that's been
the trend so far.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
So I don't like that. I don't like that trend
at all.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
So I'd love to say that the Jaguars can win,
and they can win, but they haven't proven that they're
able to put a complete game together as a football
team in a long long time, really since the first
half of last year. So it's a winnable game, sure,
because it's the Patriots and it's the next game.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
In the NFL. You can win any game. They got
the personnel to do it. But I can give you
no kids play better and win. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
That's that's a good week or two.
Speaker 2 (28:07):
I'll take a field goal and a safety.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
That's fine.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
You've taken my ridiculous presiction, which I was going to
say twelve nine, and it's all field goals.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Man twelve nine or field goals Cam Little gets on there.
How Little goes home happy, I'm happy. I'm going to
go for a low scoring game as well, maybe not
quite as ridiculous. Let's just put it out there and
say a seventeen fourteen victory.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
I would love to see Cam Little get a winning
field goal at Wembley. That would like he would love
that to see his face after that, after everything he
said about playing at Wembley and how much it means
to him.
Speaker 6 (28:47):
That would be so good.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
I did quite enjoy. One of the things I did
quite enjoy seeing on the field today was before the
game you saw Cam Little is doing his warm up,
but he he has the American football out there, but
he's treating it like it's it's our f or like
he is doing like kickups, and it's kind of like
fun to think that in his mind, he's thinking, I'm
at Tottenahots first stadium, you know, and next week will
(29:09):
be even more It'll be like I'm at Wembley Stadium
and just having a few kickups on the field there
is because I think this happened before. Actually I can't
remember who it was now. The former Jags kicker a
few years ago was a huge football fan, and you know,
for him playing at Wembley it was such a massive deal.
The biggest deal though, for next week, I think this
is fair to say, is the initial duval starting the
(29:33):
whole game. JP the starting the whole game, the guy
that's doing the whole the big Douval, the kickers off,
I'm doing that. So I'm sure that's going to be
the most exciting moment for you for them. Okay, come on,
come on, this is my British accent coming out. No, no,
(29:53):
I feel I tell you what I feel, under pressure right.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
Now, eighty thousand people next week. This is.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Yes, and that is how I will do it.
Speaker 8 (30:07):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
JP.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Move move, he said, don't say move aile and ever
since then I'm like, I'm gonna say move all. My
voice is going to break. Duval do you prefer? Is that?
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (30:21):
It's your Oh no, come.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
On, make it your own man.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
That's gonna say a completely different word anyway, JP, thank
you so much for joining us.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
I wish it was under better circumstances. But let's layer
the land right now.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
Next week one in five maybe we'll have a better
result than the ary.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
This has been a shooting sharp production for Jacksonville, Jaguars
UK and Ireland. I'm Jay Lawrence, He's Key Ramsar and
we'll see you next week. Will be in a better
mood next week, I promise.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
At last.
Speaker 9 (31:03):
Putts tolst
