Maddie Takes the Mic: Model Senate History, Back-to-School Laws & Florida School Bus Rules

In a special birthday-gift episode of The Attorney Patrick Smith Show, Maddie the Surfer Girl takes the host chair for the entire show! Patrick is still in studio to handle legal questions, but Maddie runs the show from start to finish.

She kicks things off with a deep dive into the history of Stetson’s Model Senate (now officially the Patrick L. Smith Model United States Senate) — the oldest college-level Model U.S. Senate program in the country, founded in 1970, and the life-changing impact it has had on students (including Maddie herself).

Then she covers practical Florida back-to-school laws, including:

• The process for a 16-year-old to legally leave school
• Corporal punishment still allowed under certain school-board policies
• Parents’ right to request a different classroom teacher
• Strict school-bus stop laws, camera enforcement, and real caller stories about tickets

Plus plenty of fun studio banter (Gen Z slang lessons for Spike, homeschooling stories, Stetson ghost tales from Elizabeth Hall) and the usual listener calls.

A lively, educational, and thoroughly entertaining hour hosted by Maddie.
