Speaker 1 (00:00):
I just looked at my right then and I saw
a very lovely picture of two beautiful women.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's us. It's good to be back in the studio again.
It feels like I never left. I went quick, two quick?
Do you have it?
Speaker 1 (00:13):
Though?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
No pay anything?
Speaker 1 (00:15):
This is it? Could you see? We're where to go?
Speaker 2 (00:20):
That's that's Welcome back to two doting dads.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
I'm Maddie Jay and I'm Ash.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
And this is a podcast all about parenting.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
It is the good, it is the bad and the and.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
We will never ever not even if our lives depended
on it, give advice, no chance, thank you, no thank you,
nothing relevant anyway. Hey, welcome back post holidays.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yes, first of all, that's for all your parents out there.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Also for the parents who didn't go away. I think
they deserve a bigger applause, yourself included. Yeah, thank you,
that is directed at you.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
It's although today it's a pup of free day, so
well done for tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
The finish line is insight.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
It is so close. Like the last days, they're so ratty.
I guess you run out of things to do for them.
My kids are just like they're like I'm bored. I'm like, oh,
why don't we give you toys to other kids? That'll
be fun. They're like, oh, I'll play with them, sucker.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Like I did feel guilty. I was, of course away
in Bali and in the group chat, I was sending
my holiday pictures and Vic is still away. Is in Vietnam,
of all places, still there. And a little update from
her this morning. Lost their camera. That's going to be
so bad. She believes she may have left it on
the planes. If anyone is flying in Vietnam, Champagnes on
(01:54):
that fly.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, yeah fuck.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Actually Ash and I were talking, were like, did see
her stories last night? And she was having a couple
of cocktails.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
And one of the messages like it was such a day.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
I'll give a proper update on Barley kind of you're
chomping to hear about my holiday.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
I can't wait to hear about all the fun things
you did.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yes, I don't want to just going to get that wound,
open it up, put a little bit of salt in there.
But that's for Wednesday's episode. Yes, we should also say
a little hello to Lockeyeh, where'd you go from? He's
come from life on Cat but also he's been working
with us for a little while helping out with our videos.
He's now the new VIC.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
For this week. This week, don't worry, we can't afford him.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Okay, I can't afford it. He's very expensive. The headcount
for this podcast growing, there's more.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
People than Dad's. So Vick will be back next week.
That's good to hear.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Look, there are two things that I want to talk about,
and I don't want to be a one trick pony
and just talk about the holiday for the next two weeks. However,
it's all.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
I've got right now. It's called memories, man.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Yeah, I want to I'm reliving the trip through you.
Two things I want to talk about. Firstly, I hate
to attack any group of individuals.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
This is directed to me, not at all.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
No, no, no, no, no, you are I identify as
a group individuals. You were safe, Thank you. The group
I want to attack that. The group I have a
problem with. Oh god, both elbows on the table. Is serious.
They're nonnas. Okay, I've got a problem with the nonners
of this country.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
We're talking about Italian grandmother's.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Look, I think they were Italian. I'm pretty sure she
had the little stumpy walk like. That's all you need.
She had a bottle of pasta.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Was she consistently in awe of all the concrete she
was watering the concrete. Okay, of course she was.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Baby Jesus statues around like, well, look, we got to
the airport and we're flying out to BALI. I'm not
sure Ash if you saw what I hosted, but we
had some uniforms from costumes for Marley and Lola. They
were the air hostess uniforms. I did see that for corners.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
He kept that under wraps.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Thought you would have talked to me about that before.
I was like, April was like, did you know about this?
I was like, not about what about? What?
Speaker 1 (04:15):
This is news to me?
Speaker 2 (04:16):
She's like, where did you get I don't know.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
So I mean I didn't think. I showed them to
Marley and Lola. This is before we flew out, and
I was like, look, this is pretty cute, and they
were like, we're wearing that on the plane and I
was like, if you want to, like sure, and they
were parted. They had their hair slipped back, they got
the lipstick on. I was like ready to fucking clock
them in and start a ship. And so we parked
(04:40):
the car. We're walking to departures and we get in
an elevator. Ash, I'm familiar with the concept. Who was
in the elevator the captain Alona. Okay, okay, and I'm listening.
Lola is someone who I think isn't aware that she
puts herself in a situation where she's going to get attention.
She was like, oh, that outfits great, like cool, end
(05:03):
of I don't think she understood what that would then.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
The knock on effect of that, which is people gonna
ask questions.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Right, So we're all cramming to this elevator. There is
a family with a non it's not as a single
Nona by herself. And so we get on in the elevator
and Lola is standing in a way where she's like
next to the nana, and the nanna is just like,
oh my god, look at these little beautiful babies. And
she's like it gives Lola a hug, and she's like
(05:31):
and kisses her in the forehead. And I was like,
but it was like a beautiful Nona. I couldn't be like, hey,
she could have been in fuck off, touch my children. Yeah,
but it was like it was very brief and the
Nana was just, you know, just doing what nanas dove
And then we get out of the elevator and they
walk off like okay, bye, like have you guys have
(05:52):
a good trip. And Lola's just like.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
What the fuck just happened? And she was like what
did you do something? And I was like what do
you mean? She's like, who the fuck was that? It's
such an awkward situation.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
And I'm like in a moment where there's Nana thinks
that she's just being a loving grandma giving some affection
to a young child that she doesn't know. You don't
want to be the one who goes back the fuck off, lady,
get away from my fucking kids.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Yeah, you start with one, not non of then what
you just move on to the next one.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Then all of a sudden you're just like, kid, I've
got the Nana's with pitchforks at my house being like.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Let us touch our children. The problem is I've with
this go on is the country and the region of origin.
They're very kissy.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
They are.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
They're very kissy Europeans in general. The doubles like it's sprints, germs,
It's okay, It's un hygienia. COVID would have been way less.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
I actually like I lived with when.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I lived in London, I lived with.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
The Spanish guy Sergio, and he fucked me in the mornings.
He used to wake up and be like hello and
if you're right my face and I pull away and
he'd be like, what are you doing today? That's a
terrible accent, that's pretty good? Am I going to get
canceled from there? Should we take that out?
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Nah?
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Okay? And he like, they're just very in your face,
and I was like, just I haven't brushed my teethio relaxed,
and neither of you said face. But afterwards I was like,
how should I have handled that situation? Like how do
you politely tell Anna who's completely unaware that she's behaving
in a way that's kind of inappropriate Considering it's a
child that you have no idea connection with.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
There's not a whole lot you can do because you
can't preempt they're going to do that. To be fair,
kids are short. Nona's pretty short, so they kind of
maybe like are too fast for you to stop?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yeah, like a little one, You're better off after it's done,
being like you're going to catch it. Whatever my kid's got,
you're going to catch it. So I don't think they're
not as care they're instructible. They're like they're like seventy,
they're like fuck it. But then when we got into
the departures and we're trying to find, you know, our
check in area, Lola was like she's coming back because
it was coming through it. And I was like, get
(07:53):
behind me. And it was like, you know, wild dog
was coming to attack your children, and I was like
they're ready. Yeah, I was like kick this. But then
everyone was like looking at Marley Lola and be like
look at these beautiful children. And Lola was like, gut
it up me and I was like, you should try
to kissing them.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
It's really good.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
So I just want to say, I look, if you
are a nonna listening to this episode, and I'm sorry
to say this, I don't want to be the bearer
of bad news here, but you've got to stop kissing
kids that aren't yours. You've got to say that, And like,
I think that needs to be a message that we
should put out there.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Need to be though, Like it's just they've got no
self awareness.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
No self awareness. They love the kids love your own
grandchildren don't love mine.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
I mean if I walked around kissing kids, it'd be
a fucking crime. Well literally if you.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
But that's a thing, like you're the nonas for so long,
I've gotten away with it.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
And I'm more of all scared the kids off sort
of vibe kids excuse rat.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yeah, I think someone someone's got to put the nanas
in line. And I don't even know if she was
Italian or not.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
And they also like they might do something like that.
And then you're like, oh, it's completely fine, it's completely fine.
It's like just it's not fine. It's not touch my kid.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Let alone with your lips. And Lola was like, defend
me next time you prick. I was like, sorry, next time,
I'll leave you there. But second thing I want to
talk about, and I know that I get hung up
on seats on a plane. Yeah, that's your thing, that's
your hobby. If there's one thing that gives me anxiety,
it's selecting seats for the family on a fly.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
It must feel so good when it pays off, like
the right choice pays off.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Hey, the best part of the trip the flight. So
the issue was do you want the bowlhead and non bulkhead.
For those of you who aren't up to speed with
the lingo of the airline industry, the bulkhead is the
end of economy one step further. You're a business.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Yeah you're not quite there.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
I just want to be as close to business as possible.
I fucking could smell it. I was like, that's lamb,
that's good with Oh my god, it's silver aware. But
I'm just like, I mean there, I belong here.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
He's sitting on someone's lap.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
But the extra leg room that is a.
Speaker 1 (10:07):
Godsend for people who are tall, like six six to
you're sick one and a half one and a half.
But like Lockie's like, what six twelve is he seven
foot's Scottish giant.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
But I think when you're with an infant, Poppy is
always ten months. We had the bass in it had
the option of the bassinet, but she wasn't sleeping at all,
Like she's not going to sleep in a bast it's
too well.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
The first time on a plane, but no, no, it's
not someone on international flight. It's exciting.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
You just got that extra room to like put the
carry on. You can cut some laps, bob up.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
And down not hindered to get out because there is
that like, the only thing hindering is your family.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
I mean the downside is long way to walk to
the toilets. Yeah, okay, but it's the business. I wanted
to who's that jacuzzi? I wanted to. But then I think,
like the best part of all on the flight back
overnight flight red eye flight from Balley ten thirty departure,
it's tough. That's the fucking dumbest fly. It's tough. But
then the kids were like, hang on a second, where's
(11:04):
our fucking screens? Everyone's got screens? When we have screens?
And I wanted the kids to fall asleep straight away
because I was like.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
You don't get one.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
And I was like, oh they're broken, they're not here.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Oh my god, why would you do that?
Speaker 2 (11:15):
And then Laura was like, yeah, I actually like to
push the button. I was like, I hit it, like
like I hit a on.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
You guys got to be on the same page.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
And the kids are like, oh, there's no screens, like sorry,
and no, I guess we'll sleep, And I was like
I guess you will and fell asleep straight away.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah. See, that's the thing with that flight. I feel
like the intention is to go, oh, kids will sleep
on it, kids will sleep. It's not time. But a
lot of the time at backfires because they're also overtied.
They're fucking were the time we moved from that flight
to the day flight back from Bali game changer.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
See, although, because that's the activity for the day. But
then how did you go with the time difference? Because
the only good thing was because that was so they
got you know, they got four or five hours sleep
going to bed the next night.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Nah. So see you fly out there at like eleven
thirty am.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
And by the time I walk in my front door
it is like eight pm and the kids go in
the shower, into bed. Seat he later, because that day
is the activity is the floor out of them.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
And then you're like, April's got, as we know, so
fucking organized.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
She's got like the stuff to play with and the screen.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
They have a full day of activities.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Really by the time they get home, they're fucking Sometimes.
Last time, Macey and Oscar fell asleep in the car
on the way home from the airport, straight into bed,
woke up next morning. We moved on with our lives.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
But I would much rather run that risk than them
not sleeping at home than not sleeping on up in
the air.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Oh you that's high risk, Poppy. She's normally having like
the blacked out room. Yeah, the fucking noise machine of
full pelt. And in the plane she was like, what's this?
Speaker 1 (12:56):
But you're good with playing. You can't nap unless it's
on a plane or a bus. No. We've had this
conversation before because when we went to Vegas. As soon
as we got on a plane, you're like, so, I
don't know what it is.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
It's like I'm back in the womb, and I'm like,
I know you think that kids they've got so much
room because they're so tiny, it should just be pretty transferred.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
But I understand the excitement of it all. For us,
it's worn off because unless you're like, hello, I don't
want to get off. But for them, they're like, this
is fucking crazy.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
And I did forget to order them kids meals, which
is that always gets me.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
And usually a flight to like Indonesia, it's like would
you like a piping.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
Hot spicy Nazi, oh God for the baby, or into
Cabanara like real creamy.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
My kids are like when they bring out the seafood
and an everyone it should be Okay, we need to
start something.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
We need to start. We started attacking, then ban seafood.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
That's why flights.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
You want to go after the seafood industry.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Yeah. First of all, I don't think I've ever had
fish belonging the sea, not in the sky, well said, Okay,
I think serve it on a cruise ship up there.
We should be eating birds chicken only like fly fly
What about steak?
Speaker 2 (14:08):
Steak's fine?
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Have you seen a cow jump very high?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
There?
Speaker 1 (14:13):
You go? Hey, just on the back of your trip,
because obviously everyone on my holidays on the Wednesday. But
on the back of your trip, I noticed there was
an ongoing theme and families love going to and especially
like me. If I go away, I'm all inclusive and
none of these villa crap. Okay, I want food on demand,
I want drinks on demand. I want my kids entertained
(14:36):
on demand. Yes, I might as well stay home if
I'm going to go to.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
A villa, I don't think I'll have a saying a
villa again.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
No, I don't need it anyway. The buffet breakfast is
a must now, family, Yes, and I noticed that you
were hoarding food for the rest of the day, which
families do.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
I didn't know everyone was doing this.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
It's the old thing where it's like, quick, let's eat
heaps here so we can save money on the next meal.
But then as soon as you leave the buffy, you're like,
I'm hungry.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
I really wish I had one more cross on.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Yeah. Right, So then you start going, okay, well, the
kids are easy because you can the things they really like,
you can hold those. I noticed that you were like
packing pastries and stuff like that, and what was your
form of carry in a bag?
Speaker 2 (15:13):
So we initially started out pretty old school, very primitive.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
I think in a bucket.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
We would just go the old napkin unfolded on the table,
loaded in fold a napkin, and then I'd like kind
of carry it like down the side of crime, like
I'd shimmy out. And it was always like the Balie nine,
like you doing I'm not fucking doing it, And I
don't think the stuff cares.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
They couldn't give two shits.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Some people did come for me and say, like, you're
teaching your children that it's okay to steal.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
That's a life lesson.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Bro, And I'm like, but that food's just going to
get thrown out right right?
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Ash?
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yeah, I think so. I don't know. I don't work
in the hotel industry, so I don't know. But people
did say. The number one bit of feedback I got
is that I should start using ziploc.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Bags no offense yep, amateurs okay, what and you fall
into that category nappy bag nah?
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Okay, because we use that.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
I saw that a weird smell about them.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
They do to hide the sense. Yeah my food, yeah,
my cross on. Now it tastes like fucking lavender.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Not for me, not even uncentered somehow centered Yeah, not
for me either. So I will say that good start.
I would say that you're a novice in this situation.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Okay, which I would accept. We've only we're new to
this industry of crime.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
So for me and my family, I'm thankfully I'm married
to an expert in this field, the most organized person
on the planet. Because she's not organized, she's crazy.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Okay, and that the most loving way possible.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Oh yeah, love her for this, okay. So if it's
slightly out the organization, mate, you can see the steam
coming out of her ears like she's just like not
functioning with it.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
So the buffet is her area of expertise.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
It's one of the areas of expertise.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Because actually, because she is just going back, she's the platumum, right,
She's a platam. She's a platumum. And they're the crazy one.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Yes they are. We love them. So my wife checked
in a tackle box, a clear fisherman's tackle box.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Why tackle box?
Speaker 1 (17:11):
She checked it into a flight, flew it over to
Bali for the one purpose the buffet tackle box to
hord items for the children to eat throughout the day.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
But don't you okay not. I don't want to question
your wife's methods here, But do you think the tackle
box is like it seems like an unusual item to
bring into a buffet, like if she's ever fishing rods
and like a hat in the tackle box in the morning,
Like that would raise alarm bells to me if I
was working at a buffet.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
No, it's like I'm gonna show your photo on a
say it's a clear for the listeners at home. It's
a clear, single story tackle box, right, okay, So you
can see it's got all different segments and it fits
perfectly in her oversized travel handbag.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
That's okay, that's a key bit of a faae.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
But that's still doesn't eliminate the fact you've got to
whip it out onto the table or does she do
that under the table?
Speaker 2 (18:06):
On top of it?
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Started with under the table and then then she she's
like a bird. She's brazen.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Just she'd get on the table and eat a chip.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
Off your fucking plate and take off.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
That's how brazen she is, so expand it.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
She's the tackle box bandit And realistically I didn't know
any of this was happening until I got there, and
I was like, only you knew the kind of person
that you were marrying.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
I know.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
There's two photos. This is the first one of young
Macy full tackle box.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Actually that is a good tackle box. Also Macy looks
like I know that is fucking and then Oscar as
well buy the pool tackle box? Is that is amazing?
Can I just take back any questions that I had
about April and her methods because I thought it was
like a tall one that you're.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Like, that'd be the next one, that would be the
next one. When did she buy her? I think she
just got it from Kmar that is genius. But it's
not the first time she's done it. And I said to.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Her yesterday, I was like, has she ever gone on
a trip if you've gotten the tackle box?
Speaker 1 (19:11):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Yeah, she must, I said it. Yes.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
I was like, oh, you wouldn't happen to have any
photos of the tackle box down and.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
She's like, yeah, I've gone right here. She's gone on
for a future reference album.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
Bro, the organizational skills of my wife are next level.
Like just an insight. Okay, when my parents come to
babysit our kids, there's a fucking folder.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
I love that.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Okay, I'll bring some of the folder in next time.
But I just saw your thing. I thought that's amateur.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
I'm going to steal that. People did say you need
to bring a lunchbox, but that's like a lunch box
on steroids and we'll put these, We'll put that on
social media. So people are like, but how good can
a tackle box be?
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Just you wait, you wait, it's look it segregated into differences.
You've got sandwich and that's the thing issue with you're
just taking pastries. My wife's making full fucking sandwiches at
the table and chopping them up with f that I.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Was limited pastries, only get some eggs in that I
went a boiled egg. But I was looking at the
fruit salad like you know there was there was and
the fruit and balley is delicious. I was looking at
the watermelon, the pineapple, and I was like, I.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Cannot so April has separate containers for the fruit.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Oh my god. I know she's like walking in there,
like see her.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Coming, and they're like, no one question her. She knows
what she's doing and she's just spread out making sandwiches.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
I mean, there were a couple of mornings where like
Laura would get the kids ready and the next thing
she'd be like walking off the table, by the way,
make sure you bring some pastries back, and I'd be
like fuck, you know. So then I'm at the table
by myself, and they also then like I'd go, I
went to go and take some pastries and I was
anxious from being honest. Then I come back and because
(20:50):
we had a big table all the kids, then there
was a team of the white starting the table and
then I was like.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Just sit back down and started.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
He was like.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
I just fucking ran.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I had to run back to the room and Laura
was like, what did you what's your hole?
Speaker 1 (21:05):
What have you got?
Speaker 2 (21:06):
I got nothing?
Speaker 1 (21:07):
I can just picture all like the Balinese staff in
the back, just talking shit about all the whities. Yeah yeah,
and they're like, what did you see that person?
Speaker 2 (21:14):
She had a tackle box? May want a fucking plastic bag.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
It's got a poop bag over there, Matt. Some would
say that tackle boxing is a hack. Some would say
that I would say that, I'd agree. I have stumbled
across a video hacks very short. Yes, that I would
like to show you and just see what your thoughts are,
because I think it's genius and I will be trying it.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
It says playing who can get the dirtiest clorox?
Speaker 1 (21:42):
What's clorox?
Speaker 2 (21:42):
It must be like a spray and white copy that.
And the best part of this plan is no one
can start me.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
You get it?
Speaker 2 (21:51):
That is very good. So for people who are wondering,
it's a classroom and the teachers they're the cleverest.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
I mean, they spend the most time with kids.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
They've been type a set of skills.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
I hate to go to baring one of them.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
So they've got each child with a wet wipe type
cloth and then whoever gets the dirtiest, Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
So they clean up with them and then whoever's got
the dirtiest wind. So it's a trick.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Teachers need to share more more of their wisdom.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
So I'm going to try with Oscar and Mason be like, hey,
they'll probably see through this, but I'll be like, we need.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
To wipe all of the surfaces in the house.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
But whoever gets the dirtiest wipe gets something that.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Makes He's going to do one of the huge ships
in the toilet, and she's going to hold along.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
She's just so good at shitting and leaving it. My god,
but you cannot touch your own ship with the wipe,
and she's like, god, damn it out.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Last time we went away, she was like, I just
got to go to the toilet. Sweet, we're pretty much
in the car. And got in the car and I said, day,
but I'm like, before we leave, can you please go
and check the toilets to make sure she flush because
last time she just left it in there.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Remember, Can I actually ask you a question?
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Yeah? Okay?
Speaker 2 (23:01):
And Vick would hate this. Lucky for reference, Ash and
I talk about ejaculating and ship at least one of
those topics get to mention every episode prerequence and so far.
VIC would be listening and being like, oh my gosh,
they were just talking about buffets all episode's.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Let's talk about a come buffet. Wow, there is So.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Do you find that the toilets in the toilet shape
is a unique design specific only to that region of
the world. BALI, Yeah, it's like that's not the squat
ones flushing ones, like the flush is on the side.
But I was like, I don't know if it's the
design of the scoop.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
In the it's very American.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Yeah, my ships looked bigger. I don't know if I
was shitting more because I was at the buffet every morning. Yeah,
you think, so okay, what it was the I like,
I don't know, like no strange level of PSI just
it was like I was doing two ships. It was
the same, the brand of the toilet, because that's what
I was gonna I was gonna be like, what's the
what's that?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Boy, that's ridiculous, It's crazy. The array of toilets across
the world.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
That's what I was looking at. I was every time
I went to a bathroom, I was like, well, look
at this bad boy. I've got a Frank fifty two
design here, and.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
They got what side flash top flush?
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Also they got the bidet as well, so I thought
I was flashing it. And then the fucking day came
and gave me a facial.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
I was like a good bi day.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
I didn't mind it, a good biday.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
When I got back from Japan, I was like, I'm
get one. And then it was like to get a
good one and get it in the store.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
It's too much. It takes a care.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
It's like a forever home piece, and.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
You don't want that with the little kids because they've
got a plane and it's a nightmare. But sorry talking
about toilets though. Within an episode recently, we talked about
the dad he took his daughter into the female toilets,
and I never realized how much women are okay with
dads taking the daughters, young daughters into it.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
I had no idea.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
I thought that was entirely out of bounds. I thought
there was like like I thought I would get fucking murdered.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
I only people that were the problem with it. I'm
middle aged white man.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Yes, And now maybe.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
The common denominator here, bro is that you're a problem.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
So I do an announcement and I say, I'm a
man coming in here with a child. And I was
just like, I am, I'm a nana coming in here.
So I announce it and then and then I'm allowed.
It's like I'm allowed, and that's good.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Thing.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
So far, so good. That's courtesy. Thank you, thank you age.
Because I was also it's hard because at the resort,
you know, I was like, the last thing I need
is to come in there and someone's getting.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Changed because they like the pool changes.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
And then I'm like getting done, you know with the
like aren't you the guy's stuff from the buffet and
now you're a pick of tim And I was like,
I can't handle.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
You've got a crime list very long.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
I think that's something I've learned recently.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
I feel like if you're who knew, I feel like,
if you've got a girl child, you're allowed your parents.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
City, Yeah, you can do whatever you like. Hey, just quickly,
your book is still available. I still have it's actually
you're still steal pretale. So it's the secret ingredient.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
Yes, what a story.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
It's riveting, the turning into a movie. Spielberg's onto it well,
Sealburg's onto it, Neel the Seal, Neil the Seal. We're
performing in it.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
It's a great book. What do I dare say? One
of the greatest I've ever read.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Wow, yeah, I know. I was just about to say that.
Wait a minute, I just gave it to you. Yeah,
that's great. Anyway, So I took a shit the other
day it was like this big I was like, fuck, yes,
it is available from big W.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Get it from BW.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Why not it's cheaper. I don't know what book like.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Anyway, we'll put the link in the show notes.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
The link in the show notes. Yes, yes, hey, something
has come to my attention, Matt. We talk a lot
on this podcast about your wife's feet. Yeah, here and there.
I wouldn't say a lot, but yeah here it comes
up every and them. Let's take a little trip down
memory lane. First of all, we found out that she
doesn't shower at night.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
She just puts her feet in the sink. Correct, she
gets the nozzle and just.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Like washes the feet, washes the feet. Just give them
a little rints in the morning. Since she will wash
her body and not her feet, she.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Keeps her feet outside the door of the show.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Yeah, and then since then, I think every now and
then it comes up in different ways. Well, it's come
to my attention courtesy of young Lockie over here, who's
provided me with the internet, has rated your wife's.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Feet rated my wife's feet.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
Yeah, okay, so but they've also rated your feet.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Oh who's got better feet?
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Well that's that's where it comes from.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Here, can I I'll be honest here and I'll say
I do have a large big toe.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
You know, if I could change anything about feet, it
would be the size of the big toe. So there
was any mention of the big toe.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
No, nothing on that.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Okay, that's good.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
What I will say about Maddie Jay's feet is, though,
according to this rating, are a five star foot out
of what five? Wow? And it says gorgeous feet. So
that those two playing at home its is on Wiki
feet and Young Laura BYRN four point six. My gosh, wow,
(28:09):
no comment next to that one, because they're obviously not
gorgeous feet like Maddie Jay's. Let's have a look at
these bad boys.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
He's got little chippo lads, little toe trotters. Yeah, hey,
it's you know, it's not something I thought i'd be
known for. But I'd like to thank defeat loving community
out there for admiring my work.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
You do have a girthy big toe. Maybe that's what
these foot lovers are into.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
They're into the big toe.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah, it's crazy how interfeet people are.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Yeah, but there's two types of feet lovers. People who
love more like more of the toe.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
And people like to fuck them. No, I mean.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
People are just like to look at them, and people
like to people like the souls. Yeah, I'm not much
of a souls don't do it for me. But people
are the underside. Yeah, they're like us, the underside. Give
us the part that you can't see.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
A friend of mine has a amputation. It's a fake
an ampute foot flashlight. Sorry, yeah, so it's the it's
the ankle down and then the top of the ankle
is the foot is a vagina.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
So he's fucking your ankle. But you're looking at the foot. Okay,
I don't want to. I don't want to yuck anyone's yarm.
But that's interesting. The pussy ankle, what'll call that?
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Yeah, jankle?
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Okay, Yeah, how did we get here?
Speaker 1 (29:26):
I don't know. Somewhere? We were doing so well once
you started with the calm thing, I was like, fuck,
come buffet.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Once that happened, it was all down here. It was
all down here.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
It was all down here. Let's move on there.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Let's go to a segment to separate this up. Okay, look,
I've got one pair.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Rant Okay, here do we do it? Intro music? It
go on, let's do it. What I want to.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Say?
Speaker 1 (29:50):
What? Man?
Speaker 2 (29:54):
I feel like a pair of rant Okay, I got
one here, Ash. This was sent in on the Facebook
group and I thought it was who good not to
share because I know this will rall you up. And
if there's one thing I love in this world, that's
when you get riled up and doesn't know it doesn't
happen often. Well, talking about the angle for JJ is
what are they called again? The vag vaijankle.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
I can't take credit for that term because the guy
who he stole it, the guy who we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I love how you have to like be like I can't.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
I'm a professional, okay, And I don't only use my
own material.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
You've known me for long enough now that I must
use my own material. The vaj who one of my race.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
League friends also I won race league. There you go,
there you go. One.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
How did you celebrate? I jerked off, I joked it
in the seat.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
I ordered a Vajt Line Express. They do all sorts
of limbs. I literally got a risty. Oh my god,
it's good to be bad. It is good to be bad.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
So this one is from Celeste Pie Celeste, she says,
pair round in For context, I have a three and
a half year old and a nearly two year old.
My two year old does not like getting her nappy
changed in parent rooms. Interesting, just on that.
Speaker 1 (31:09):
Did you see that they did a swab test on
all of those fold down thing and the traces of
cocaine on every single one. Really not surprised.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
Whenever they're doing the swab test, I don't need to
know that information.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
They're like, we'll swap test this.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
Hang on a second, now, swab testing anything in the bathroom,
you just know it's not going to be a good result.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
No, what do they think is going to be on that? Oh, sunflowers?
Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah, it's just like cocaine. Seamen, come pubes and fucking shit.
Speaker 1 (31:37):
That's my kind of change room. Wait, oh god, that's
right up rally.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
For context, says, yeah, sorry, the three and a half
year old two year old. The two year old does
not like getting a nappy changed in parent rooms, will
literally screen bloody murder if we do. It. Interesting that
the two year old is such a like. It knows
a reaction you have.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
It knows already it's going to be a very perceptive.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
So we usually resort to the car boot because we
don't want to make life more stressful for us. The
car boot is effective, but obviously not as private. Okay,
now the rant they weigh. My blood boils when I
am unpacking the prem placing my older child in their
car seat, then changing my youngest snappy, keeping everything running
calmly and smoothly, because you know toddler's she says ash.
(32:22):
Then having someone pull up behind you, peeping their head
out whilst my toddler is fully exposed from the rear,
just to say, are you leaving? I actually think that's
a fair question.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
If you can't, I don't think.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
I think the car boots not as obvious to others.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
I think if I look, I edge on the rule
of go on. If I'm in a car park looking
for a car space, if I see a family leaving.
I'd give that a wide berth because of And I
would say the question from the driver fair. Nothing wrong
with the question, because you're just asking if they're leaving.
(33:00):
But I think it comes down to the awareness of
who you're asking. So if I'm driving past and I
see a mum loading a baby into a car, I'm
going straight past because she doesn't need the added stress
of waiting for me.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
It does. It does add a level of pressure to
an already very stressless And so if.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
You've got a couple of kids involved the area for
things to go wrong, it's much greater because it could
be so simple as maybe bumping your kids head on
the way into the car. Then you've got to melt down. Kid,
you're trying to change your nappy and fuck with behind
you turns up and goes are you leaving? Yeah, I'm leaving,
But how about you come and finish changing my baby's nappy?
(33:37):
First year? Fuck with?
Speaker 2 (33:38):
There?
Speaker 1 (33:39):
He is? There he is. But I would say it
comes out the question is not the problem, it is
the who you are.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
She says, I'm already operating like it's an emergency because
of toddlers. She's diffusing a bomb and not only are
you glaring right up the ainus of my child, but
you're also adding the unnecessary pressure for me to pack
up and leave very quickly so that you can save
a couple of minutes to find elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Fuck, I'd slow down.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Some extra context. This is in a westfield in western Sydney,
which has plenty of parking, as it was mid morning
and not peak season. If it were Christmas, I'd be
a little more reasonable. This sounds. This is like Celeste
is like the female ash. It sounds and she's like,
and let me get don't get me started on.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
The vas It's like, if there's plenty of parks, this
person's just a lazy fuck. I agree trying to get close,
but I think I would much rather prefer you to
sit in your car, idling with your blinker on two
cars back and waiting for me. Okay, I'd much rather
that because as soon as someone gets a bit pushy,
I slow down.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
It takes me fucking ten minutes, especially at the beach, yeah,
to get you.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Know, the kids in and like that's and I've had
someone ask me when the kids. So what I would
do from the beach specifically is April would go wash
the kids off. I would carry every belonging that we owned,
because we had to take everything we owned the beach.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Apparently that's what you need.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
The fucking couch of the fridge anyway, carry all that
to the car so that I can load that in
and when the kids come, we can get in and go. Right.
But sometimes, especially in summer, which is fair, someone to
come and go, hey are you leaving? Mate? Oh? Go yeah,
but I'm waiting on two kids under five, And ninety
percent of people go, ah, yeah, come out of here
because they've got a brain, because they've got a brain.
(35:19):
But old mate, who fucking can't go three spaces back,
whether it's free, wants to put someone else's day under pressure.
Get real, get real.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I love the pattern. This is. This is when you're
at your best.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Actually have a couple of doted dilemmas. I think we
have a song for this. We have a song, Yeah,
we do.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
We have a song for everything. Well, let's make another song.
Now you need us more than ever, know that we
still have each other. You can send sure doting dilemma.
You can send sure doting dilemma.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
All right, Matt, I don't know who This is from
It's anonymous, and it goes like, so are you a
good parent if the only thing you do is bring
in the money?
Speaker 1 (36:02):
So you're the primary provider, the breadwinner, the bread and
I think like breadwinner.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Is a bit of a shit way to put it.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
I think like everyone's got their job. I just think
the word breadwinner is a bit like.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
I think it's obviously an important part. It's a good
piece of the puzzle that needs to be there. You know,
if you're in a relationship where one person is working
and bringing in financial security, then other person is not
looking after the kids. Obviously it's it's it's.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
A critical part.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
But I think I look at when I was growing up,
and when you're a kid, like you don't really appreciate
the fact that you've got food on the table or
a roof over your head. You're just like that's fucking
pretty standard, right, I mean.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
At that age you think it standard. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
And I think the issue is those types of parents,
mainly dads, who are looking at that responsibility as being
like they're kind of ben end all your only job
responsibility as a parent. I think they're going to find
it pretty tough because the kids don't really have any
level of appreciation for and so you're also going to
(37:01):
get prestred at the kids. I remember my dad would
be like, I work so hard with this family, and
we're like, yeah, but I just I would rather hang out.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
With you for sure, and like it's let's just take
the word good for a sec. That's pretty subjective in
terms of parenting because everyone they're better at certain things
and they bring certain things to the table. So I
think the word good probably doesn't. I wouldn't say you're
a bad parent for just providing finances. Maybe that's how
it was discussed and agreed upon and whatever.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
Everyone's going to be different.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
I think what would make a good parent to a
great parent in that situation would be that you are
open to it being more than just providing money. Right,
So if you've had a kid because you made that choice,
you can't just be like, well I pay for them.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
The way I see that there is it's like, okay, well,
if that's the case, why did you become a parent
when you could have just got animals pets? And then
also as well, I think like it is so old school,
yeah about this, you're the breadwinner Okay, I hate that word.
But you're the breadwinner, aright, and you come home and
(38:07):
you love getting your hands dirty with being a parent
as well. What sort of parent are you? Then you're
a fucking great parent.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yeah, because you're going to build the relationship with your
child is going to be so much more robust as
opposed to that person who just comes home and goes, hey, Billy,
you know I put in two thousand dollars into the
bank account this week.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Good night?
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Yeah? Yeah, they get like you said, give a shit.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
I just put myself in the position and it's like,
I come home, I've put I've been able to provide
my family. First of all, I feel proud about that.
But then I get my I get stuck in with
the kids and enjoy it, and then my wife's happy
about I think I'm fucking happy. My wife would be
about that. She's like and then also as well, she's like, fuck,
this guy's attractive. There's so many knock ons for being
from going from good to great?
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Do you know what I reckon? Maybe I'm putting till
into to make five here, but I think if I
had the option of just someone was asking what do
you think is going to be an easier day for
you. You're either going to work, like do your admin and
emails all day, or you're going to have the kids
all day. Obviously, I get like a lot more out
(39:08):
of emotionally working with the kids, being with the kids,
But it's an easier day if I'm just on my
own working. And I think there's a lot of people
out there, dads especially, who lean on the fact that
they're like, well, I'm providing for the family as a
way of ignoring the fact that it's just a hell
of a lot easier being at work and not being
(39:28):
with the kids.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Yeah, and like, look, everyone's situation is going to be different.
People have got really stressful jobs that are important, right,
Like we've got we're talking about, you know, doctors, you know,
loyal all those sort of people that like society really
relies on. But at the same time, why did you
have a kid? If you're willing to do nothing but
pay for them, You might as well be single and
pay supportive, supportive family financially if you've got nothing to
(39:51):
do with it. I think it's very like it is
definitely being bred out because I think like one of
the guys in Oscar soccer team. He's on a sabbatical
this year, and he was like, like, it's crazy that
as soon as I took a step back from working
so much, everything in my life is so much better. Yeah,
Like the relationship with his kids, He's like, I'm doing
drop off at a reasonable time, and he's like he
(40:12):
and his wife were both high up corporate drop off
at seven am, pick up at six pm, like, but
they love their kids. But at the same time, it
was like, he's like, I'm so thankful that I've taken
this break just so that I can see that the
providing is great.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
But my kids want me as well, right, And I reckon,
especially when they're still in primary school. And obviously it's
easy for someone to say, well, just like pause your career. Yeah,
but I think if you're going to clock in those
crazy hours, I think it's when the kids don't want
you when they're in high school and they're like fuck off, dad.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
Yeah. And I also think like you find some balance somewhere.
It might not be like every day that you have
time to invest so much into your kids, but if
you're going to work fucking ridiculous out If I'm working
ridiculous house. I'm saying, Aprile. Look, the next two weeks,
I'm fucking back to back, but I've taken an extra
day off work after that so that i could spend
it with you guys, because obviously we need to and
cost a living.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
Of course, people got to work more and more and
more and more and more. That's it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
But I think like you've still got to find those
moments as a parent at any time of the day
to be like I am more than just a money
bank a bank account.
Speaker 2 (41:17):
Yeah, I agree, Ash. We've got to have one more
question here. This is from Jess. It was sent in
on the Facebook group, which is just such a fantastic group. Ah,
if you are a parent actually and you're like having
an awful time with the kids, just put the TV
on and jump on the Facebook group. Oh yeah, come
and join us AND's scroll it. She goes, I am
dying with back to back daycare sicknesses and I'm in
(41:38):
my third trimester. Congratulations. All the flues, the gashtro you
name it. The question is do I pull them out
before baby comes or push through for some one on
one time with the new baby. I feel guilty either way.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
I would say, look, everyone's fucking sick at the moment.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
I would say, everyone is sick at the moment. What
the fuck is going on? Just like I feel like
there's always like bird Flu's coming, bird flu.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
I feel like this is how it works, right, one
year everyone's sick, the next year everyone's like, we're sweet,
next year sick. Very cyclical, cyclical sick lickicl.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
That's in the episode right there.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
I think with this one, I reckon. I'll just say
what I think.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
Go please, that's all I ask for, ash, is it?
Speaker 1 (42:25):
I would push through what Yeah, i'd push through because.
Speaker 2 (42:29):
Yeah, you've come this far.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
You've come this far. Also, you're better off building the
immune than coddling it too much. So I think you'll go,
all right, I'll bring him home, things the right thing
to do. And then all of a sudden you're like,
oh fuck, this kid's sick and they're here and it's
like or it's like, this kid's home. I can't get
anything done. Like I think that time when you're about
to have another child, Yeah, you need to spend those
(42:51):
first little time really putting the work in there. I
am not having someone because that kid's not going to
understand just thinks, oh, I'm off school. But then also
it's going to be like I bored, I want to
do things.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
But you're also like this kid is going to be
a machine when they're older. Oh yeah. The amount of
illnesses that they receive, like that immune system is going
to be when people are like wash your hands, Timmy.
I'm like, nah, let them play with this shit and
have lunch. Yeah, for system. Immune system needs cough on
my kid. I don't know yet. If you want to
build an immune system, just go to an old people's
(43:23):
home with there's lots of honors and just sending your
kid there. Oh yeah, they'll be kissing your left, right,
and center. I don't know if it's true. You know
how they always say, like when the kids sickle was
from daycare, they're like, the immune system needs it.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
It does. We went a good couple of years of
my kids not being sick, and then this year sick.
I would say, like, you've got to hit it head on.
I think the days that they need to be home
to rest fine, but the days where it's like okay,
well they've come off the back of a little sickness,
they've picked up from school, they've got to go straight
back because if you're hot withhold them. I think I'm
(43:54):
not I'm a doctor, but I would say that, like
you definitely knows when like your kid's been sick, then
then they've come good. They've built that immune and they
go through the back end of winter and completely.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
Find Guys, we're halfway through winter.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
Yeah, you're another half.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
Yeah, So whether you pull them out now you've come halfway,
just finish it.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
Yeah, finish the finish the season. Finish the season, and
then think of how proud you'll be in summer. Let's
go home.
