122. Consequences - Part 1 (w/ Isaac Stooksberry)

In this episode of Jesus Loves Addicts, Isaac Stooksberry shares his raw journey from a promising athlete with a full football scholarship to a life consumed by addiction. Raised in a loving Catholic home, Isaac explains the deep insecurity that drove him to seek affirmation in sports, alcohol, and drugs. He describes the steady decline — lost scholarship, arrests, theft, and opiate dependence — and the pivotal moments that eventually led to a Christ-centered recovery.

Hosts and guests discuss the spiritual and practical aspects of addiction, the debate over whether addiction is a disease, the role of hope and perspective in recovery, and the importance of faith-based programs. Isaac recounts the emotional moment he cried out for help and the detective who offered him a choice between jail and a rehab program that ultimately changed his life. Expect honest reflection on shame, relapse, accountability, and the transforming power of Jesus.
