Doch wenn die Lage tatsächlich so ernst ist, warum haben die Menschen keine Angst und leben weiterhin direkt auf einem immer aktiver werdenden Vulkan? Was beschäftigt die Menschen in Pozzuoli und der Region Neapel wirklich?
In der letzten Folge geht es um den Alltag in einer Region, die gelernt hat, mit der ständigen Bedrohung zu leben – oder sie zu verdrängen. Viele sagen: Der Vulkan ist nicht das Problem. Wer hier wegzieht, tut das eher, weil es keine Arbeitsplätze gibt. Wir erzählen von wirtschaftlichen Brüchen nach den Evakuierungen in den 1980er Jahren, vom Nord-Süd-Gefälle Italiens, von Visionen vom Tourismusboom und von der fatalistischen Mentalität der Neapolitaner: Wenn der Vulkan ausbricht, dann bricht er eben aus.
