Ab dem 4. September gibt es nicht nur das neue Science Notes Magazin »Italien«, sondern auch wieder etwas auf die Ohren! Gemeinsam mit der 61B der Deutschen Journalistenschule haben wir in den letzten Monaten für euch am Podcast »Lavaland« gearbeitet.
Für »Lavaland« sind die Autor:innen nach Süditalien gereist, in eine der gefährlichsten Vulkanregionen Europas. Schon seit Jahrzehnten hebt und senkt sich die Erde dort immer wieder. Doch seit einiger Zeit zeigt einer der gefährlichsten Vulkane Europas ungewohnte Aktivitäten: Er könnte bald ausbrechen. Doch die Rede ist nicht vom Vesuv, sondern von den Phlegräischen Feldern. Auf diesem »Supervulkan« leben etwa eine halbe Million Menschen.
Im Podcast gehen wir der Frage nach: Was, wenn der Vulkan tatsächlich ausbricht? Was kann der italienische Katastrophenschutz tun? Reicht der Notfallplan aus? Und warum streiten zwei der renommiertesten Vulkanologen Italiens ausgerechnet darüber?
