St. Ardent by Night | S1E15: When Silence Ended

A Vampire: The Masquerade V5 Actual Play set in the World of Darkness.

The wards have fallen, and the city is no longer contained.

In this episode of St. Ardent by Night, the Tremere wards protecting St. Ardent collapse completely, tearing open the veil between the living and the dead. Across the city, spirits manifest openly as reality begins to unravel. The Wakinyan River flows backwards. Earthquakes fracture the Cathedral District. Mortals report seeing long-dead loved ones standing beside them in broad daylight.

Each member of the coterie experiences the collapse differently. David is haunted by shadows and distant calls from tribal land. Lux finds herself surrounded by phantom applause and reflections that no longer move correctly. Ernest is visited by the ghost of his grandfather as unseen forces move through his home. Enili spirals through whispers and wandering spirits while racing across the city. At Greenwood Cemetery, Nicholas awakens beneath a flood of voices as the shroud disappears entirely.

When the coterie reunites, the truth comes into focus. Brother Matthias did not simply damage the wards. He tied them to the veil itself. Their collapse was intentional. With the boundary between worlds gone, St. Ardent stands exposed, and something ancient beneath the city is beginning to stir.

Desperate for answers, Nicholas performs a dangerous Oblivion ritual, allowing Osanzan to possess him through the arrowhead fetter. Through the spirit’s voice, the coterie learns the wards were never just barriers. They were warnings, meant to signal the coming of what lies beneath.

But the revelations do not stop there.

After confronting painful truths surrounding Irina, his lost twin sister, and the manipulation of his bloodline, the coterie follows the growing disturbance into the Cathedral District itself. Beneath the city, they uncover a massive hidden chamber filled with fleeing wraiths attempting to escape something waiting in the darkness.

At the center stands a twisted figure tied to Matthias’s past, something ancient, mutilated, and horrifyingly familiar.

And then it speaks.
