(00:44):
Now, this week I have a treat for us
And it's a little different this time, I think, right?
Well, we don't tend to do singles on the final B-side vibes.
However, I have a little special one that I wanted to share.
Before I introduce artists, have you ever heard of Bait?

(01:12):
Not before you talked about this with me?
No
So there was this amazing group of individuals under Bait who would organize these killer shows, and they would pick a song from each of the artists and do a limited edition press of the singles, which is very

(01:35):
this, if I am thinking this rightly, they would, it would be a full gig recorded
and they would pick a selection from one song from each artist
Yeah.
Yeah.
and make a single out of it,
Uh-huh.
super cool
the shtick was that there was, like, all sorts of colors.
Which is very, very cool.

(01:56):
They're no longer around anymore doing creative things, but I do hope that they come back because they're very amazing at putting shows on, and I absolutely love the concept.
But without further ado, da-da-da-da, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da, we have Joan and the Giants and Seb Szabo

(02:19):
The cover's gorgeous.
What a little combo of artists too, right?
Right.
So it is an orange little sleeve.
It is only an exclusive seven-inch, so little teeny tiny, which is a super cutie cuties.
And
without further ado, you get to see the
It's all orange.

(02:40):
Ooh
is orange
. So the beautiful thing about this glorious vinyl is I love the little image on there.
It's like the
The logo?
Yeah
yeah, of Baked, the little flower.
Super cute
Was it s-something like 100, limited release?
I believe so.

(03:00):
I
100? How many?
I wrote that down.
Uh,
200. 200 copies
little, original little orange little vials.
Limited edition.
There's still some if you wanna grab them.
You can, uh, find them online, which is really amazing.
So the two songs that were picked by the artists, uh, we have Cool Kids by Joan and the Giants.

(03:26):
Great song
Great song.
And we also have Perfect Symmetry by Sav Savo, which again, great song.
Great song.
Yeah.
Amazing.
I think when this was recorded, Seb had just released "Perfect Symmetry," right?
Yeah, exactly.
And this was off the back of Joan and the Giants touring with Pink, national

(03:49):
Yeah, it was a, I think it was what?
About a month after they were, about a month after they were in WA at our # atOptusStadium, supporting Pink.
Like about a month after that they came and did this, which is so cool.
And Gracie's wearing the same dress,
Yes.
Uh, for those listening, I'm just showing Sam the back of the vinyl sleeve, which has got, uh, some photos of all the crew.

(04:14):
Uh, and we can see that their manager, uh, Mitch, is in there as well for Joan and the Giants.
She's a vibe.
She's a vibe.
Did I-- Now, in, I have to ask, in watching the video of this gig,
Mm-hmm
did I see either a doppelganger or an Alexis Naylor in the crowd?

(04:36):
You may have seen an Alexis Naylor right at the front for both of those sets.
Yes.
Yes, you may have.
her little heart out
I was dancing my little heart out.
Along with a couple of other of our close friends from Naarm
That is true.
That is true.
Yes, it is.
Again, I cannot, , say more kind things about the Baked crew and just how they are able to facilitate such amazing shows.

(05:04):
And l- like you've just mentioned, they've got recordings.
I think they had amazing crew, uh, filming it, audio engineers.
Um, but I'd also been to one of their shows that they did for, , the Polish Club, uh, which was in r- rural Victoria, and that again, was in a amazingly beautiful old-school cinema.

(05:27):
Stunning.
Crew did amazing.
Yeah,
And I think that is the other, that's the other record that was done with Impressed Recordings.
So the, this particular single plus the Polish Club one
Yeah, so the Polish club one was blue, and I think I recall there being a green one for another artist, but f- right this second I can't remember who that artist was off the top of my head.

(05:50):
So for those listening, you can fact-check, go down that rabbit hole.
Yeah, but all, all, um, produced in collaboration with Impressed Recordings from Sydney.
And I've, on my rabbit hole, found that they were pressed by Holiday Records in New Zealand
Oh, I just love a little collab.
Isn't it amazing?
Mm-hmm.
All these little independent companies doing their thing.

(06:11):
It's great
Well, and that's exactly it.
For those listening, you know that we're all about supporting live music, independent artists, and where we can, we love talking about our homegrown.
Our homegrown.
And also, let's be real, we've got soft spots for, for our

(06:32):
Perthlings.
So, you know
Um, speaking of, talk more about this gig, 'cause we've heard, heard the recording of it, but were there any special feelings or special moments from the gig itself that might have been caught in this recording?
Oh my goodness.
It is one thing that you always have to worry about is like whether or not punters are gonna show up.

(06:56):
And I, like, you couldn't have wished for a better audience.
Like, everyone showed up, everyone was energized and ecstatic and gave all this energy, which then feeds to the bands and feeds back to the crowd.
So it was a great venue.
It was in a warehouse in Collingwood, so the vibes were all there.
It was all fitted out, and everyone was just having a glorious time.

(07:19):
So yeah, I don't, I truly think that that energy and vibe comes through on the recording, for sure
Oh, and particularly in Cool Kids, like,, Grace is going for it,
Ooh, isn't she
one, and, um, the audience feeds off that as well.
The, the back end of the song through the gang vocal, whether it's a small or a large group, you can't tell because everyone is just top of their lungs just going for it

(07:48):
I mean, look, she is just a killer front woman
Mm-hmm.
Joan and the Giants always kill it.
They're amazing.
So good So good, so good
Yeah, that-- listening to that and then going back and watching that, that's prob- that would see it as kind of a, a little hot pick moment for me from that song, was just seeing the amount of fun that, that the band had in feeling that coming back from the crowd was great.

(08:18):
, Did you have any favorite moments out of "Perfect Symmetry"?
Honestly, Seb is just so commanding as a frontman.
I think there is a reason why Seb and Gracie are great friends.
There's a, a common denominator between these two front people, and he just commands a crowd.

(08:40):
He can rally the troops, and also he's got banging songs, and this is no exception.
So his whole entire set was amazingly top energy.
, Yeah, can't fault him.
We love you, Seb
, I've not seen many people wear a graphic tee and a pair of blue jeans quite as well as he did in that video

(09:04):
He pulls it off.
He pulls it off.
Well, for that, I'm so glad that we could talk about this one.
It's definitely in the archives, but if you want one for yourself, get online and get one.
Check out all the other ones, and maybe you can get the whole collection of colors with all of the beautiful other artists as well

(09:27):
Anyone looking for a collector's item, this is the one.
Yes, yes, yes.
Eight.
It was live and I'm assuming that the, the little stamp there, it was
Live at Mitch's Warehouse, Collingwood.
June 2nd, I think I saw, 2024
2nd,
It's very cool.

(09:47):
Thank you for sharing
No worries.
See you next time.
Okay, bye
