Najcięższym zaburzeniem neurorozwojowym, które wynika z ekspozycji na alkohol, jest Alkoholowy Zespół Płodowy czyli FAS. Dr Teresa Jadczak-Sumiło podkreśa, że dziecko z grupy FASD może mieć drobne trudności, na przykład takie jak kłopoty z koncentracją, czy kłopoty z pisaniem, które są do opanowania. A niektóre z tych dzieci będą miały poważne trudności edukacyjnymi i trudności z kontrolą swojego zachowania.
