Good afternoon, and welcome to Cleveland Browns Daily on a Friday.
It's presented today by Belly Bett, an official sports betting
partner of your Cleveland Browns. I am joined by the
world's greatest basketball playing librarian, Jason Gibbs.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Well, you had your glasses on earlier and you were
looking quite studious. Show the people, Show the people. So
this is this.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Look at that.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
This is forty eight years old. Now, yeah, look at that.
Readers are those readers.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
They're readers. They're not cheaters. They are full blown, full
blown read good for you, No, No, I don't think
it's good at all. I think it got to the
point where I couldn't sign checks, which was working for
me in the bar for a while.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
That's good.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
Oh, someone else has to take care of this. I
can't see it.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I can't see the tab. Yeah, I have noticed, like
I'm pretty good but I have no Sometimes it's like
some things like I hear them, I do I do
one of these. Yeah, it's gonna happen to you, Brock,
we're here. Time is undefeated.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Oh I hope not.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Oh it will father. Time is undefeated, especially because you
guys are young and what have you spent your whole life.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Doing screens in our phones.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, it's gonna rapidly accelerate that process. You just worry
about what you have to do to celebrate your three
year anniversary with your lady tomorrow. Oh baby, what is
on the what's on it?
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Gibbs? I I had a I had a dilemma today whether.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
It's you should have see this? Let's do it on
the are Okay, we have. I'm a very romantic person.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
I came up with a really great plan.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
All right, don't pair your stuff on the back yet.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
Let's say I'm one. I want an invitation to the wedding.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
One of my high school buddies invited me to the
Guardians game tonight. Two dollars beers and dollar dog night tonight.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
And it's the Cardinals in the words of my father,
and also beatbox sounds like a great value hold on.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
And then yesterday was my dad's retirement party. Happy retirement Dad, congrats.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Absolutely, I can't.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Wait for that day.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
So I told my girlfriend yesterday that I would spend
tonight with her. So I had the decision to make
whether I go to the Guardians game or spend date
night with my girlfriend.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Okay, and what did the three year anniversary was last weekend?
He's and we celebrated an anniversary.
Speaker 5 (03:19):
You had a family family like little reunion thing.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
How would you describe the the balance in your relationship?
Very healthy, very healthy? Yeah, okay, she's not going to
be happy if you cancel and go to this game.
I would imagine even if she's a very chill girl,
I don't think that that.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
There there, especially because two days ago he brought up
the hey, let's hang out Friday night.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Yeah you can't. Then be like, actually, instead of hanging
out with you, who I love, I'd rather go hang
out with my friend at the Guardians game. And they're
eighty one Guardians. So to me, Hold, the only solution
for you in this is to make it her idea
that you guys go to the Guardians game.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
To add in another wrinkle, the friend who invited me
to the Guardians game. He's moving to Charlotte to He's
just graduated from college, so he's moving to Charlotte to
work and live there next week.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
I think you have to if you want to go
to the Guardians game. I think she's coming with you.
That's what I think. So he's moving next week. That's
right now. The whole thing is, are there Guardian games
this weekend?
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (04:36):
The Cardinals are in tough maybe the Redbirds'.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
This is what so this is what you do. You
and I realize that maybe the Beers and the Dogs
won't be as economical horrible. Yeah, you just go to
be like, we're going out tonight. Hey, ben Town, he
invited me this game tonight, but I know that we
need we're celebrating our third year anniversary, and you know,
I want to be with you, baby. But Saturday, I'm
(04:58):
going to the game with Ralph. But he wasn't invite
it for Saturday. Him and Ralph will figure that out.
They'll they'll be able to go to the games out.
Seats are available. Seats are available, Yeah, or Sunday or just.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
Stand in the bar areas which are fantastic.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
In the right and have a great time. Yeah, I
think that's I think that's probably what did you do?
Speaker 4 (05:19):
I am going to the game tonight, and I told
her we'll we'll have a day tomorrow and she was amenable. Yeah,
because she's like, I understand he's leaving for for Charlotte
and you won't be.
Speaker 5 (05:31):
Able to play that card, play that card all day,
like it's my last time to see if.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
You've got a good one for a little while. You've
got a good one. That's good, that's a good's that's
fantastic that I do. Yes, Yeah, I think that that
is even reasonable. I think it's I think what it's
gonna mean, though, is I don't know anything about that,
but I like, was I here just when when the
girl Sophie County am Yeah, you know Sophie Cunny. But
(06:00):
I wasn't here for that. No, but Bo was led
that charge. I bet, yeah, defending Caitlin a lot to
like there, good teammate, You're probably going to have to
like maybe up the ante for your hangout based on
what you thought it was going to be tonight. That's
(06:20):
what I said. We're veterans, dude, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
That's exactly what I said. I said any kind of
because he was like, Eh, we might, you know, might
grab some drinks and go play put putt. I go,
that's not going to work.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
I think maybe a nice meal, maybe some flowers. It's
a third anniverse.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
How about you make a day of it?
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (06:39):
How about you make a day of it? Yeah out
instead of just like an evening festivity, how about you
make a day.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Oh here, I got an idea for you. Where are
you guys at in town? I'm in Westlake.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
She's in the border of northridgeal On northwumb said.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
The only side of that matters the west side.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Well, I'm going to give him an idea. It's going
to bring him east because it's actually I say, you
take her to a nice brunch at Restoration Hardware. It's beautiful.
You're up on it's like a very cool place. That's
a very cool vibe. It gives off the like this
is a big event vibe for this, And then you
probably don't have to do a big dinner because you
guys are gonna start day drinking. And then you can
(07:12):
go walk around Tagrin Falls beautiful, have an ice cream,
hold hands beautiful and there. Yeah, there's a lot of
good stuff. Stores to walk in. Yeah, Scriamfalls is the best.
That's right. Rest is actually very cool and that would
be like that'll get you a real nice meal. Is
it expensive for a brunch? Yes? But is it expensive
compared to like going out to a colone. No, it's
a college budget. But it's not crazy. And they don't
(07:34):
have booze. They just have like you guys have a
brose or a. They don't have a liquor license. I
don't know if it's because it's a store, but it's cool.
The Chinese chickens out, Oh, unbelievable. It's really good. Truffle
fries you need for a brunch. No, they have mimosas.
Oh most of the good. They have no liquor.
Speaker 7 (07:54):
Oh so no bloody Mary, that's fine.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Are you a bloody marry guy?
Speaker 4 (07:58):
I've never had one before.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
That. No, should very good. I wasn't until I met
my wife. I am not a bloody man. Yeah, dude,
that would be or something like that. Do like a
nice brunch and you know, write a nice card? Do
you are your card? Guy?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
We exchange letters.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Beautiful. I like that. I like that a lot. Okay, yeah,
there you go. Maybe a little slider and a little
you know, not expensive, but a thoughtful gift. Yeah, I
love you, baby. Maybe you find something at the Guardians game.
I was thinking about you while I was at the game.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Here's a baseball signed by Sliders.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
No, but does she wear like does she wear does
she wear a hat? Like? Would you wear a ball cap?
Did you wear like a hoodie? Of course you she
wear Guardians merch.
Speaker 8 (08:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Yeah, so maybe like something that you know she likes
that fits her style profile like you know, while I
was the game, I was thinking about you because I
can't wait to hang out with you tomorrow night.
Speaker 7 (08:57):
The next level is next, I mean anybody else with
any Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Yeah, we can do we can do anything we got.
We gotta even take that phone calls today if you
want it. Oh god, yeah, are you sure?
Speaker 5 (09:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
By the way, Happy birthday, mo Pedman.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
I saw that and the answer Nope, what was the question.
That's what I that's the message he gets on his day. Nope,
and he likewise reciprocates.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
By the way, for him, I mean I was working
with him when he was a young man in his twenties.
Same for you. Is this a one more year? Oh? Oh?
Next year. Well that's a big four. Oh how about it?
I was on with him this morning. No mention of
this from anybody, like, Hey, it's nothing.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Did you wish him one?
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Not on the air?
Speaker 8 (09:48):
I should know.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Well, I've texted him since. I've had lovely exchanges. All good. Yeah, Well,
now it's in my calendar. You know, I'm a big like,
but I have to have it in my calendar.
Speaker 5 (09:57):
He's a fantastic human. Oh my, yeah, love the guy. Yeah,
I love the guy. I have a great story about
him that I cannot talk about on the air. Well,
I will tell you in the commercial break.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
Well, I'm pretty sure that there's a story that involves
me and him that we'll be talked about for that
we die. Well in this room one show that I
miss I didn't want. I didn't say me you and
him one or me him and you? Yeah, and it
(10:28):
all went to hell in a handbasket, it did? He did? Okay?
That that that it did. By the way, there's no
reason for the NBA draft to be two days. Nope, nope,
Brocks that you're dialed. You're as dialed as anybody, right.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Did you watch both night?
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (10:50):
I just tuned in for the caz picks last night.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
All right, so we like the kid from Duke because
he can shoot it a little bit, right, No, give
I like him. He was like the fourth or fifth
option on that team.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Right, Actually he probably was the second or third.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
You mean they had three guys win the top ten?
Speaker 5 (11:12):
Correct? Well, the one was a project. The one he
really didn't come into his own until like the last
month of the season, and because of his height. Correct,
exactly if he can know what good? Good luck? Wow, Calves,
(11:34):
I love you. I am not going to besmirch him.
I already did besmirch him on this show.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Did we need another Niang? Was anybody out there saying.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
That guy ain't gonna play in the league, Sally you?
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Is he any good?
Speaker 4 (11:48):
No, I'm not familiar with them.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Where did you play? Is any It was the overseas?
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Yeah, he didn't play college.
Speaker 8 (11:57):
Come on, no?
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Is he Italian?
Speaker 8 (12:01):
No?
Speaker 4 (12:01):
He's I think from the Congo here.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Let me this is I think this is all you
need to know. I think one Yang's enough for a franchise.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
Niang a stash pick. This is from ESPN. Faces longer
odds his career shooting on threes twenty six percent and
seventy one percent from the free throw line. Okay, I
think we're not going to see Okay, all right, it's
actually six seven one ninety according to the what ESPN.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
That's like me in high school thing, six seven one ninety.
That's right.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
I of all the duchies, and I am a big
Dukie fan.
Speaker 7 (12:42):
You said it, this is the one that ye can
we click.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
That I am a big dukie? Yeah, I just give
you content.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Yeah, it's good. This is the one I really wasn't
I thought for sure he would be gone and this
wouldn't be an shoe. Wow. It is what it is,
and we'll see what happens, all right for those people
who are curious. By the way, yesterday I talked about
being at that UH event at the stadium and they
(13:12):
had the kind of the shark tank and the pitch.
The one that ended up winning was the footsole that
tells you everything about your gate and your foot pressure,
and I kind of like that that ended up coming
in first. And then Brace. That one was called Lubu,
and then Brace which is the shoelaces and just the
material science. That one came in second, which was also
(13:32):
very good. The one that came in. Third was awesome.
Hydrosasist about the hydration. It just needs to be not
its own what it needs to be integrated into like
an Apple Watch. And they can do that, and then
I think it'll be I think a lot of people
have it. But if you ever come across these things now,
you'll know, you'll be like, yeah, I started right here,
that's where it was, That's where it got rolling. Yeah.
The one, the shoelace one was a kid from India
(13:55):
who was an athlete growing up, who got hurt because
of bad QUI meant and launch this thing. He's still
in school at Michigan State and this company is like
blowing up. He's got three people, one of them, I
think Ron Hill was his name, who was like big
up at Nike that's already like they're advising into it
(14:18):
like this guy. I think that company. We will hear
a lot about that company in the future. I think
it's going to be in. Like I think their shoelaces
are going to be in. They're going to become standard
shoelaces that are issued with every major shoe company.
Speaker 6 (14:34):
And if that.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
Happens, this kid is going to be eluded. See on
the beach. Actually I won't because I'm not in that
tax bracket. I will be nowhere near him. He will
all the time. Huh, you're in Florida all the time. Yeah,
but he'll have his own beach. You buy your own
island with things like that. He'll hear you talk about
him so glowingly and say, you know what, Gibbe, I'd
(14:56):
like you to come along. Great, Yeah, I'll see why not?
All right? Speaking of University Hospitals, our hot Topics of
the day are presented by University Hospitals, the official healthcare
partner of your Cleveland Rounds. By the way, Rock, you're
there's very little chance that your girlfriend is listening to
this program.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Right, Yeah, she's not listening. She's at work right now.
Speaker 9 (15:14):
Kay.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
She doesn't listen just to hope that she gets to
hear your beautiful voice.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Well. If she does, she's gonna knows. She might know
a little bit of the playbook that you're gonna employ
over the next few days.
Speaker 5 (15:24):
But I have I have thrown out a fantastic all
day event. Yeah, and now I think we're on the side.
I think you have a fantastic event like the Chagrin
Falls thing. Yeah, romantic waterfalls, great waterfalls, people love them.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Yep, no, toura. You Also, if you wanted to not
do the restoration, har where you could go have a
brunch at a place called seventeen River Grill and get
one of the tables that's outside. That's like literally sitting
outside like looking at the waterfall. Beautiful. That's a great place. Beautiful.
So lots of options. All right, we're gonna we actually
have some real stuff here right all right, coming out
(15:59):
to say, we're going to hear from Jason Tarvor and
talk about the Linebacker Room, which I think is actually
gonna be pretty interesting. We're going to talk about opportunity
for you guys to go on some of the road
trips with the Cleveland Browns this year with true fan
travel and our guy Vince Rizzutto, who I really enjoyed.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
I enjoyed talking about. I think you two together, the
Keeper and the key Master. I feel like we should
keep you apart, but no goes are the goes aaran, Yeah,
I think I think this it could be a very
very good little partnership.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Oh man. And then dip it into the bp A archives,
the stuff that didn't make it STU week. This doesn't
make best of Well, your interview made the best of week.
Oh thank you. Yeah, you're welcome. I thought maybe you
had somebody, you know, trying to keep him down that
you're affiliated with.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
No, it's all right. The Syracuse boosters are off today.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
They are. Ye, indeed, indeed they are. We've got away
from my text. Oh from check the mic. This was
good to be. I found this last night, but you are.
We'd both found it. We came across like Stan monson
seapalas O.
Speaker 5 (17:05):
There's excerpts because some of it we were not allowed there.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
I'm gonna go ahead and send you to the the
spell check on that one. Oh, I you know, this
is very nice phonetically.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
It actually, after I typed it, I'm like, that really
doesn't look right, and it didn't come up, like the
underline didn't come up.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
And I'm like, all right, we're gonna.
Speaker 8 (17:27):
Roll with it.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
They might not even know what you were even going for.
That's what I mean. Yeah, that's good. So we've got that,
and then we're gonna rank every position. Room on the
Browns all be out here, like you want to call up,
you can send us a tweet, send us a tweet,
send us a question on YouTube. That's a question on YouTube.
J Max. Just keep them coming to me today. Yeah,
just as stuff comes in. If anything's interesting to you guys.
If you guys need a relationship advice, we've got that
(17:49):
covered for you as well. We've got a lot. Really,
We're here to help the people today in any way
that we can. By the way, have you, guys part
of I think your date? I want mind Enterprises to
be the soundtrack of this date. Have you listened? Has
anybody done any listening? Uh?
Speaker 5 (18:07):
Who on social media? Reached out someone? Hold on, dude.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
They just dropped another one right now called Move and
they play a sound of like a car beeping and
they go move it is it's electric. Let's see where
I'm serious. This is not a joke. This is not
being farcical at all. I love it.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
You know we're playing it on a computer here, not
near a microphone. By the way, what is it?
Speaker 3 (18:59):
It's called move, dude? What do you mean? What is that? Now?
They're having some KOMPARI. I love these We look at
these guys. They're legends. They're amazing everybody out there for real,
we put the picture up. Go to at Mind Enterprises
on Twitter. J Mack and I would like you to
get the move. It's a one minute video and I
would like that for the people to be able to
(19:21):
enjoy coming in or out of a break.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Oh here we go, Jerome tweeted at us Jerome, why
has mind Enterprise has not been in my life until
right now?
Speaker 3 (19:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (19:31):
It wasn't in my life. It was on another It
wasn't in.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
My life until I want to say, like five days ago,
and on my for you page, I just saw something
that just said a tallow disco is the soundtrack of
the summer. And once I saw the guy on the right,
I call him the guy on the right. I need
to get his name because I'm if I'm gonna be
a true fan, I need the names of the guys
in the band. I do have T shirts on the way.
They have been ordered. I will be wearing ones shortly.
(19:56):
Maybe that's what you get your girlfriend mine Enterprise T shirt.
And I was just like, okay, I'm in. I'll click
on it. And if you guys know how the x
X works now, like if you click on anything, it's
over your for you page. It's like a it's a flood,
a flash flood of this content. And in this case,
(20:20):
and this is his.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
Punchure, Brock's not impressed. Hey Brock, you put this on
at your next frat party in Butler.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
I'm telling you, I'm telling you right now that there
are very important people in this world that are making
inquiries as to whether or not this duo can play
Turkey Camp twenty six.
Speaker 7 (20:51):
Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
How do you not?
Speaker 5 (20:58):
Hey, this is absolutely this is fun.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Oh my god, this is on a porch. Oh yeah,
you're there for sure? Yeah, who's not? Who's How could
you have a somewhere at the Hampton's when you got this?
You go bring make the version of the move. Listen,
(21:20):
Well done, Kevin, Thank you, very good, very good. Now
we eventually we need the video because I think it's
really seeing is as important as hearing. In this case,
it's like it's a whole vibe, it's a whole experience.
It's very good. All right, you have some serious stuff
for me here. Gibbe from Aaron Shafts of ESPN. He
proposed one final off season move for every team.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Did they got to the a FC North Ravens extend
quarterback Lamar Jackson. That must be nice if that's your
only problem, If that's the one that feels like season
move that you need. I mean they went out, go
jaire Alexander.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
There was some dude that was coming at me yesterday
with that picture that does not look like me, Thank
you very much, and good place. Some guy in his
Twitter handles Captain Obvious. I was like, my nose is
a little bit smaller than that, and he was basically
like is it? And I'm like, you're Captain Obvious. You
(22:21):
should know. I feel like saying that we need to
sign them up. That feels Captain, Yeah, Captain Obvious, you
want to keep Lamar Jackson? Got yeah.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Extension talks with Jackson are in the introductory stage. Jackson
assigned for twenty twenty seven, but the two time MVP
is now tenth them on quarterbacks and average annual salary. Okay,
Jackson said to have a cap number of over seventy
four million next year.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Does he extended me to like that number down? Yep,
that's what they're gonna do. That will happen.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Bengals solved the Shamar Stewart problem. That's a Bengals problem.
It's not a Shamar Stewart problem. That's a Bengals problem.
Speaker 7 (22:57):
I think the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
The Bengal is the need to accept the limit, which
I think isn't it five hundred million? That they need
some assistance financially. NFL awful lowed with the ice equity teams.
(23:23):
The NFL approved a rule change allowing private equity firms
to purchase a minority stake marking a significant ship shift
in their thing. It can be maximum of ten percent
of a team's equity. So let's just say the value
of the value of the Let's see what the Bengals
value is. So this is all about.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
The dispute is related to a specific contract language regarding
the potential voiding of guarantees in case of default by
the player. This is language, excuse me, that a lot
of players have put into their contracts. The problem is
that it is not language that passed. Cincinnati first picks
have had in their contracts. And Schador does not want
(24:04):
to be the first Schmar schmoeh.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
So there's that, and then there's also the Trey Hendrickson problem.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
But as you said it, the Bengals, since they have
has passed first round picks have that language.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
So the Bengals are valued a little over five million,
which is actually thirty second in the NFL. They have
the lowest valuation of any team in the NFL, despite
having Joe Burrow, which doesn't feel like that should make sense.
That means they could take in five hundred and forty
thousand dollars for ten percent five hundred forty i'm sorry
million dollars because they're valued at five point four billions,
(24:37):
So five hundred and forty million dollars that they could
bring in, which is ten percent of their team in cash,
that would allow them to pay the Trey Hendricksons, would
allow them to structure, because I thought that. So it
has to do with that language. I also thought I
had to do with how they were going to pay
out his bonus. It doesn't say anything about that. It
says this is the main sticking point. Okay, So that
(25:00):
other part really has nothing to do with money. Then
I don't know why they're trying to do that to them.
Why are they trying to do that? They're just being
weird with guarantees because again, I think if they had
more cash, maybe they wouldn't be as weird with guarantees.
So the LEAs point is they could get an influx
of five hundred and forty million that would allow them
to do things and use cash in a way that
is advantageous to them with their cap one thing. Now,
we have not had the success of Bengals because we
(25:21):
don't have Joe Burrow. Now hopefully we will have a
quarterback of that level soon, hopefully from this rookie class.
Even we have owners whose money came from another business
that allowed them to buy an NFL team and their liquid.
So the Browns have been very aggressive with their use
of cash to try and feel the best team. We
(25:42):
have not had the results because we don't have that quarterback.
But if the Bengals, for example, had ownership like ours.
For the Bengals, their money comes from the franchise, so
as the evaluation grows, it's just it's not as liquid,
and so that's why they would be It feels like
it would make sense for them to take in some
of that private equity money. The Bills have done it,
and I want to say the Dolphins have done it.
(26:04):
That sounds right, yeah, ten percent. The Bills sold ten
percent to Arctos partners. Dolphins sold a ten percent stake
to Ayr's management and a three percent stake to Joseph Si.
So the Bills stake was sold at evaluation of five
point eight billion, the Dolphins take at eight point one billion,
So they got like eight hundred million and five hundred
and eighty million, respectively that they can cash that they're
(26:26):
able to use into different vehicles, whether they want it
for their team or not. So yeah, I think I
think they have a Bengals a cash problem, and I
think that that would help solve it. That's all I
would solve it.
Speaker 5 (26:40):
Again from ESPN proposed one final offseason move for every
team we continue in the AFC North with the Pukers
extend edge rusher TJ.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Watt. Well, yeah, that's how he wants a new contract.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
He's thirty two.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
It's a now or over or trade them. You're either
extending them or trading them. Yeah, that's it. Those are
the only two options this article.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
The writer Aaron, Come on, now, he's a very explanatory
mini camp because of contract negotiations. If the Steelers want
to have a competitive defense in twenty twenty five, they
needed to get him back in the building. He's going
to be in the building. He's not same with Trey Hendrickson.
They're both going to show up and they're both going
to play. Trey Hendrickson I think might not. I think TJ.
(27:22):
Watt will play.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
I think Anderson could sit out six games or whatever
it is. I don't see it. You want the season
to go through IMT Smith did it.
Speaker 5 (27:31):
Yeah, but that's a different It's different if Jamar Chase
or Joe Burrow sits out. I don't think Trey Hendrickson
has the same leverage. It'll be interested as an offensive
position player.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Yeah. Uh.
Speaker 5 (27:47):
For the York Cleveland Browns, of all the decisions that
need to be made, make some decisions on the offensive line.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
I thought you said this guy was smart.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Four of the five starters on Eveland's offensive line will
see their contracts void after the twenty twenty five season.
Joel Buttonio, Ethan Posik, Wyatt Teller, right tackle Jack Conklin.
But wait, there's more. The Browns signed Tevin Jenkins as
their top offensive line backup, but that was a one
year contract. He's also a free agent in twenty twenty six.
(28:18):
The Browns need to decide which players they want to
keep past twenty twenty five and extend one or two linemen.
Jenkins is the only one of those players under thirty,
making them the most likely to stick around long term. Hey,
one final offseason move, go get another wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
That's it. Listen. I think a lot of that depends
on me on how Deontay Johnson looks. But yes, that
is that's a consensus. When I'm at the gym, if
somebody's talking to me, what are we are we going
to get a receiver? That's the question. I always get.
What he's saying, though, is right. There needs to be
some planning for this offensive line going forward. And that
was one of the questions is you know, you know
how many offensive linemen do we keep? And my guess
(28:59):
would be nine. And if you kept nine, it's your
starting five. And then on the backup, you's got Cornelius Lucas,
You've got Tevin Jenkins, You've got Zach Zentner who you drafted,
and he got Luke Whippler. So that's still only one
tackle there. And that's why when you talk to us
about the picks, like I could see an offensive tackle
being an early pick for this organization, especially if they
have two picks and they don't have to use them
(29:19):
on a quarterback that you could get an offensive line,
because that's where you're you're at right now. You do
not have really a future.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
Yeah, and you need to see what at that line
and Zach Zenter have this year.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Yes, Well, Zach center was always rafted to be part
of a succession plan and we need to find out
if he's ready. He looks physically, looks much stronger, which
I think was a big thing. I think Bloomgren will
be good for him. I think it'll be good for
all these guys to be honest with you. And we'll
see how ultimately how that plays out. But those are
the things that they are they're looking at. When we
come back, Brown's linebacker coach Jason Tarver is going to
(29:57):
talk to us and we're going to talk about the
linebacker room. And I think this is going to be
a very interesting room in terms of what it looks like,
how many are on the team, all of it. It's
gonna be fascinating because of their big role in special teams.
So you'd expect it to be six at a minimum five,
especially because we only play two linebackers most of the time.
But when we go through the names, there are guys.
(30:20):
There are a lot of guys that played a lot
of football in this room. And you're gonna also have
a mix of young guys in here that you've drafted
or undrafted, guys that you really like. So this is
going to be a very competitive room, and we're gonna
hear from Jason Tarvor about that when we return on
Cleveland Browns Daily presented by bally Bett and official sports
betting partner of Your Cleveland Browns. I am a big douchie.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
Cleveland Browns Daily presented by bally Bett, an official sports
betting partner of Your Cleveland Browns, on eight p fifty
ESP and Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
I am a big dookie. Yeah. I don't know if
that means what it meant when we were kids, Gibbe,
I don't know what to say. I don't know. I
give you content too, by the way, wearing my old
bamboo very nice in the hot weather. The bamboo, I
like it. I can't do locks leave by the secret.
(31:27):
So I've got actually the secret.
Speaker 5 (31:29):
In hot I got a little something tomorrow. What so
for Christmas, the girls got us like it's like a
forty five minute photo shoot, family photo shoot. Ah, perfect, everybody. Yeah,
my wife's tickle pink and I want to say I'm ticklin.
(31:49):
I bet you're gonna be tickled pink. You've been wearing
a lot of pink.
Speaker 7 (31:52):
I know, I know, Uh not tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
The youngest one has like the whole yeah, and the
older one and the hobby her hobby are like what
And I was like, look, I don't want to lip
from I had. I had to message all the boys
because my daughter and my youngest her boyfriend basically he's in,
(32:18):
he's in, but we we've had this conversation. We had
to have a little conversation. I was like, look, you guys,
zip it. Don't say anything, don't complain, Like, all right,
let's get in, let's get out. We have forty five minutes.
I don't want drama. Like the sisters are already going
to be fighting each other. So my my daughter's like, uh,
(32:42):
it is white dress shirt, like long sleeve and de yeah,
I knew it. I was like it a mile away.
I'm a sweater in this.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
That's going to be a air conditions No, No, we're
outside outside, Oh we're outside, so somebody's coming to your
I don't know where we're going. Where you go, I'm
told it somewhere. Let's back and that. Let's back up
real quickly. When you have this kind of a talk,
like are you like, do you like is it on
(33:14):
the phone? Do you have them? Are they you have
to say come over, we need to talk.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
No with with the boys. Yeah, no, this is a
separate text chain. If my wife's listening, sorry, but there's
something to rain everybody in and manage expectation.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
You have to make our lives a little rose text chain.
And you're like listen, Like I wanted you to be
like coming into the room, like sit down and you
like holding court. That's all I wanted that information to
be disseminated.
Speaker 5 (33:39):
No, that's that would be my wife. I'll sit back
and when when she has to get involved in that way.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
They don't want that. So like you're I don't have to.
You're actually like the good cop, like I am the
voice of reason. Yeah, Like if it's coming from you,
it does.
Speaker 5 (33:55):
Not happen often. But I'm like, look, I don't know
if any of us are really excited about this. Just
keep it between the beacons. But the matriarch of the
family is excited about it, and she wants some pictures
with the grand baby. She wants some family pictures, and
we don't really have a whole lot of family pictures.
So everybody, just shut up, get it done. I don't
(34:17):
want to hear that you're hot, Like I gotta bring
a towel because I'm gonna be sweating, Like none of
that's good. But and it's at eight a air, it's
at nine am. I'm like, it's gonna be it's gonna
be humid, it could be a little icy. I don't
do well with long sleeves and pants in this type
(34:38):
of weather.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
I think you're gonna do great. But yeah, I'm really.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
We have family family pics tomorrow. Okay, So I just
I had to rain everybody in because there was a
whole lot.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Of mostly like you know, the double chair, Oh my good.
And then the other one's like, I gotta get.
Speaker 7 (34:54):
Up at what time?
Speaker 3 (34:55):
What times? The photos?
Speaker 5 (34:57):
Nine am?
Speaker 6 (34:59):
Dude?
Speaker 5 (35:02):
He the boyfriend is he's you know, he's twenty two, but.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
He's he working like the graveyard shift.
Speaker 5 (35:10):
A lot of times. He has no problem staying up
half the night. Okay, Like he's out, he's he's ready
to mingle.
Speaker 8 (35:18):
I think.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
So how long have they been dating? Oh?
Speaker 5 (35:23):
I think we're at three or four years? Okay, like
it's it's yeah, I'm assuming that you guys.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Having a family vacation right now.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
He's going with us next time.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Okay. Do they get to stay in their own room? Yes?
Speaker 6 (35:38):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
I did not see that coming from give did not
see it at all.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
And the reason for that is now that my daughter
is twenty one, she sometimes annoys me with how much
she consumes and her boisterous tone, and I don't really
want to.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
Deal with that. That's okay, all right, adjoining rooms? All right,
So you think it's a joint? Are you saying that?
You think, like I mean, it is. It is young,
it is early, but you think maybe an engagement is
in the future, in the new.
Speaker 5 (36:06):
It's not in the near future. No, I mean they
still both have like two years of school left, and
you're very young. He's in the he's in the military.
He's in the National Guard too.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Nice, thank you for your service. Yes.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
So he's got a lot going on. They got a
lot to figure out and get through. But I like him.
He there's a place, there's a sainthood that I think
he deserves for sometimes dealing with my youngest. I love
her to death, but she's a handful.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
So that's it.
Speaker 5 (36:35):
That's what's going on tomorrow morning, Like right off the
bat on the weekend, I'm like this, This sets the
tone for the week past.
Speaker 8 (36:40):
It gives you a chance.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
I'm a little worried. At least, it gives you some
chance to like avoid the heat. Maybe it won't be
so humid that early. I think you could be Okay.
I think it's smart. I think it's good strategic planning.
That's what I think, good strategic planning. We'll see, yes, indeed,
indeed we will. And now what we're gonna do is
let you know that Morgan Wallen is bringing his I'm
(37:04):
the Problem tour to Huntington Bankfield on August fifteenth and
sixteenth with Country Sensations Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhand and Ella Langley.
You know, I just dawned on me that we don't
get we aren't. We don't get to go to this, no,
none of it. No, my wife is not pleased about it.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
The Friday or the Saturday.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Yeah, because we play Saturday.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
Correct Saturday at one oh you could make Saturday.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Night Saturday at one Philly for you'd be able to
make some portion of it. Yeah, okay. Tickets are on
sale now at Huntington Bankfield dot com slash Morgan Wallen.
Don't miss out on this must see summer show. It's
gonna be awesome. People are pumped for this. I'm excited
for it. Yeah, but you know what, I'm really excited
(37:47):
for what's about to happen right now. And we're going
to the podium presented by Vivid Seats. Purchase your official
fan Experience package today for the ultimate game day. Here
we go. Baby, the Man, the myth, the legend. Are
good friend? Your linebacking coach for the Cleveland Browns, Jason Tarbor, what.
Speaker 6 (38:03):
Do you think your group's got done this spring?
Speaker 10 (38:06):
I think we've gotten better as a group.
Speaker 11 (38:07):
I really let our personality they've they take out everybody
in our two young rookies have been good. I mean,
we don't care right now where we play. We bring
the energy to the field. This is not the last
day of school. If it feels like it's a sum
it's not. We're gonna bring the energy today. But we're
all working really well together and they're really working on
(38:27):
learning all the linebacker positions and learning the entire defense.
Speaker 10 (38:30):
That's been great Carson.
Speaker 12 (38:32):
How you know how far has he come in these
last few weeks and what's going to be his biggest.
Speaker 11 (38:36):
Challenge going for Carson is really does a really good
job of being able to focus on each play and
making the next play's best play, which is one of
the things that I've said before, But that's that's usually
where a rookie will struggle, where he's worried about what
he just did or hangs on to it. He figures
it out, ask great questions, runs to the ball he's
(38:57):
led us and run into the ball, let us and
scoops in the spring, which is good because we need
to do that, we need to set the tempo. But
the rookie should they're younger and really impressed with how
he goes to the next play and how conscious he
is within the place.
Speaker 10 (39:08):
So having said that, that's that's.
Speaker 11 (39:11):
The learning curve that can really help a young man
play fast in this league is the green dot. There's
there's what I'm really excited about is how many people
we have that have worn the green dot or have
the ability to.
Speaker 10 (39:23):
Wear the green dot.
Speaker 11 (39:24):
I mean last year we did it out of necessity.
We had Jordan Jeremiah ma Mood, Devin Carson. We have
a lot of guys and Winston's growing too. We have
a lot of guys that could wear the green dot.
And that is unique, that doesn't happen all the.
Speaker 10 (39:38):
Time, unusual for a rookie.
Speaker 11 (39:40):
Yeah, Ken Bey, he's he's wired to where he's smart
and he wants to get the answer right, but also
when stuff breaks down, just to chase the ball, because
that's the key.
Speaker 13 (39:50):
What did you think when you get Carson here and
he studied bio engineering, he's giving your background.
Speaker 11 (39:56):
Oh yeah, there was a there was a chance when
I was at UCLA that I would have some of
his classes as a as a when I was in
graduate school, which is really crazy, but yeah, I didn't
know all that. My roommates and he saw a season
ticket holders like you gotta watch this kid. You got
to watch this kid, like right away when he started
playing first couple of games, when he made a tackle
this save the game against Hawaii and get the ball out.
Speaker 10 (40:16):
And so I'm like, okay, cool. Now I start watching
m like, oh he's pretty good. And then I look
him up.
Speaker 11 (40:20):
I'm like, oh my gosh, Like, how would this kid,
I mean, that hasn't happened.
Speaker 10 (40:23):
Pretty cool, just.
Speaker 13 (40:26):
Given what he studied and everything, Like, do you think
there's a similar way you guys think and everything along
those lines and can communicate in a similar way.
Speaker 11 (40:34):
I think he's just he's he's he's done a really
good job and growing up in his family and where
he played, of just the process of playing and thinking
of of everything. He just stays in the process and
keeps it simple and goes on to the next thing. Nothing,
nothing's too big yet. Now obviously we've got games to play,
so we'll.
Speaker 10 (40:54):
See how he does.
Speaker 11 (40:54):
There's gonna be mistakes, but as long as you learn
it from the first time, you'll be good. So I
think just how he's wired and how he approaches problems
and solving problems is really unique.
Speaker 10 (41:06):
And when he stays in that, it's it's exciting.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
A profession if you do this.
Speaker 11 (41:14):
He says, Yeah, I got my master's degree in about
chemistry in macrobiology, but I just think this, I just
I really wanted to try everything, teaching, coaching, studying everything to.
Speaker 10 (41:25):
Find out where I could help the most.
Speaker 11 (41:28):
And I think I'm really lucky to have found my
passion to help help.
Speaker 10 (41:33):
Us win and help these guys be the best they
can be. So I appreciate that. I feel like the
Mood has.
Speaker 14 (41:41):
Been out there and making plays this early part of
off season workouts. What have you seen from him and
what would a year breach look like for?
Speaker 9 (41:48):
Oh?
Speaker 11 (41:49):
Hey, I'm really excited about Mamood. You saw my big smile. Uh,
he was really good yesterday. Weaside some body position and
stuff he get, he's gotten. He got a really great
shape between the The first off season is the key,
and Nate and Winn are in there right now. The
first off season you got to get in the best
shape of your life, and now you know it, and
then your second one, now you know how to do it.
Speaker 10 (42:09):
He's even gotten better shape. His explosive numbers are through
the roof. He's running.
Speaker 11 (42:13):
He barely looks like he gets tired. He is impressive
as heck. And now he's playing all three positions. So
when he came in last year, what we do is
we give him a home first one position out of
the backers.
Speaker 6 (42:23):
We'll all know it all.
Speaker 11 (42:24):
Eventually he had his one position and when he went
in the game, that's where he played. Now he's playing
the other ones. So he's done a good job. Like
he had a couple of plays where he's on the
edge of defense yesterday that he had never done before.
Speaker 10 (42:34):
And they were perfect yesterday. So very excited with where
he's going.
Speaker 13 (42:38):
So just knowing you guys are going to be without
the Jeremiah for this season, just how disappointing is that.
I mean, guys that when they've talked about him said
it seems like he's gonna be around and still contributing
in his way.
Speaker 11 (42:48):
Oh yeah, Now he's w Whenever we put anything in
the linebacker text message area, like I try to put
lots of things in there, Jeremih is the first one
to comment, which makes us happy. We miss him, we
love him, and he's his progression to become everything from
wearing the green dot to you name it last year.
Really proud of him for that. And what's helped is
(43:09):
is our younger players in the room watched that, so
he helped it. We know the process because Jeremiah went
through it, and so from for Mahmoud and Nate and
Winston and our rookies, they've seen it and so Jeremiah's
given us that He's shown us the process, so now
we can keep working through it. Jail Play prior to
this draft, was known for his collisions, the way he
(43:30):
plays the game, violent and all that is Sweassenser like that, only.
Speaker 10 (43:34):
Bigger Carson is this.
Speaker 11 (43:37):
Carson has a unique feel to find the ball and
get it on the ground. I don't remember all his
tackling stats, but in his one year he was highly
productive at finding a way to get somebody on the ground.
And it shows, and he runs in the hustles and
he does that. He's what's impressive about him is how
for a younger player, how well he takes care of
his body. He's incredibly flexible and strong, and you can
(44:00):
see it and how he moves, how he's able to
keep his feet apart.
Speaker 10 (44:02):
So yes he can.
Speaker 11 (44:03):
He's he's a little bit taller and and he can
hold and he's got a little more weight in his
lower body. But he's very, very flexible. There's some movement
things that that they do that are very similar. Sometimes
they even run out of their cleats. Sometimes when you
see a great athlete slip, it's because their angle of
their boy the cleat can't handle them.
Speaker 10 (44:20):
They're too strong for the cleat.
Speaker 11 (44:22):
You see that sometimes, like if you ever see Miles slip,
it's usually because you know, he's stronger than the thing
that's holding his foot in the ground. So there's some similarities,
but the best part about both of them is how
hard they run to the ball and how how much
they want to get the ball carrier on the ground.
Speaker 13 (44:40):
It seems like when we've gotten to talk to person,
he hasn't lost that chip on his shoulder Reming a
former walk on, I guess do you see that? And
how valuable is that type of guy come in with
that sort.
Speaker 10 (44:50):
Of He's all football.
Speaker 11 (44:52):
All he wants to do is be the best he
can be each day and again in a in a
younger player in this league, that mindset is specially and
I think he's gonna keep it, but I will make
sure he does.
Speaker 9 (45:07):
But what does he give you with all the experience
that he's had, how does he help you as a coach.
Speaker 10 (45:15):
With Well, it's a lot, and we do.
Speaker 11 (45:18):
There's times where I'll say, hey, Jordan, you've seen this,
what do you think about this? Or what's the easiest
way to say this? Or how have you done this
to be productive because he's got he's smart, he's so aware,
he's so tough, he knows how to train his body.
And he's Jordan's another one. He's he's in the moment.
He goes to the next player really fast. So there's
times we're all start to meeting. Hey, Jordan, I'm gonna
(45:39):
talk about this today. What do you think You know
that it's highly valuable and just how he portrays himself.
I mean, you'll see these guys come out right now
and Jordan and Devin Bush will just start playing catch
like little kids. They do it every day. Is part
of the warm up. I love that, love that and
you get better catching the ball. But that's that's who
he is. Like we're all excited to be around that.
Speaker 3 (45:58):
That's why we do it.
Speaker 15 (46:00):
Said Jerome Baker is a guy who about the similar
goes to ja Oka or what do you see him.
Speaker 11 (46:05):
Bring instant background Jerome, Jerome has done a really good
job out here. We're doing more seven on seven and
that Jerome is very quick. Jerome has covered a lot
of routes in his career, both in college, from playing
in space here in college and in in the NFL.
So his quickness and his awareness is really good. I'm
really excited to see him in our system. He hasn't
(46:28):
been able to play in our run type fit system,
which he'll get more of when we get to training camp,
and I'm really excited to see where he can go.
Speaker 3 (46:35):
How would you say, I know, I was looking in
the Miami a little bit.
Speaker 11 (46:38):
Different than that as opposed to well some of the
times in the different defenses he played in. UH, he
played in a bunch of different schemes when he's down there,
so each year was a little different for him. But
there's a little bit more of five down fronts where
he's sliding behind making things right. And in our defense,
you hear from Coach Schurts all the time with the
lion's job is to go wreck it and our job is.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
To fix it.
Speaker 11 (46:59):
So sometimes we can move quicker forward, and with Jerome's
quickness and ability as he learns that timing could be
really good.
Speaker 10 (47:07):
So that would be the difference Camp Boston.
Speaker 14 (47:10):
Back to Carson, and I asked him about the limited
temple size in college, and he said some people might
see that as a knop to him, but for him,
he sees it as a way to show off that
he's got a high ceiling. Where do you think that
he can elevate himself and show his ceiling at during
this part in training him.
Speaker 11 (47:26):
Well, I'll talk a little bit about our evaluation early
in the year, and I talked about the Hawaii game.
It was a blitz and it broke out and he
just took off and saved a touchdown, I sweeping a
leg of a wide receiver and then he punched the
ball out to win the game at the end.
Speaker 10 (47:40):
And that game was close.
Speaker 11 (47:41):
So I went, Okay, football awareness, hustle, big fast athlete,
and what you could see through the years, he learned
from everything that happened to him. And when I interviewed him,
I cut up certain plays before and said in specific plays,
whether or not he made the play, whatever it was,
some he wasn't even at the point of attack to
see what he knew. He knew the scheme, he knew
(48:02):
what it was, and he knew what he learned. So
that there's your answer.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
What part of the wrap process did you learn the
most about?
Speaker 10 (48:10):
Hom So I have to combine it.
Speaker 11 (48:13):
Well, when you get a kid from UCLA and my
master's degree from there, and then I really liked him.
I liked Kane, I really liked all the guys at UCLA.
But so I was excited to meet him anyway. So
I was really when I got to the combine, I
was prepared to be able to see him, talk to him.
And he had a hamstring so he couldn't do anything.
But it was all in that time where I was
getting ready like I do with every year for all everybody.
Speaker 3 (48:34):
But I was maybe even.
Speaker 10 (48:36):
A little more excited because the UCLA the linebackers are
all teasing me. Oh, gol a guy.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Yeah, he is excited. Of course he is. Love Jason Tarbor.
He is the absolute best. Give ade, What do you
want to do here? Do you want to come back
and go through the linebacker room and starts?
Speaker 5 (48:50):
Why don't we do that? And then we'll hear from
our true fan.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Do we got that coming up? Two fifteen? We've got
the thirty two best linebackers. See if I can guess
the top ten linebackers the league. I don't know if
I can do it. We'll do all.
Speaker 5 (49:00):
Yeah, we'll talk through how about that.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
I'm excited, very excited about all right. One hour down,
one hour to go, and by my calculations. I'm gonna
pretend we're at two o'clock here, I'm two o'clock. We
are nineteen hours away from the photo shoot. Great, yeah baby,
(49:25):
All right. Clean brown is presented by bally Bet, official
sports main partner of Your Cleveland Browns on eight fifty
ESPN Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (49:38):
Cleveland Browns Daily presented by bally Bet, an official sports
betting partner of Your Cleveland Browns on a fifty esp
and Clevelandenza.
Speaker 5 (49:55):
Yes, dude, it's gonna go live his best life. Vincenzo
is yeah out today, he's got two weeks. Well, Turks
and caicos. Really, the parentals like it's a family trip.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
It never I never did. I've got to go to
porta iret E quite a bit, but I never got
like the real exotic. I guess when I was young,
we went to New Zealand, which was actually very cool.
That counts. That counts. Oh yeah, that counts. The official Nana.
All right, all right, linebacker room. Let's take a look
at this room right now for the Cleveland Browns. And
(50:33):
I think this is going to be a number five
or six ultimately on the roster. Guys who are for
sure on the roster, Jordan Hicks, Carson Swsinger. I think
those two are locks for you. The thing here is
you really have seven guys for the five or six
spots that I think are are really in the mix.
Devin Bush who played very well last year, my Mood
Diabat who's been on the roster ever since his rookie year,
(50:54):
Winston Reid who they liked a lot, and then Jerome
Baker who they signed. Now those six feel like the six,
but they draft did Bookie Watson, who was the SEC
defensive player of the Year prior to being drafted by
the Browns in the fifth round last year, needed to
make a little bit of a transition to the position,
but somebody that they're very high on as well. So
you've got seven guys, I think for those five spots,
(51:14):
and I think that's going to be a fascinating thing.
Or it's seven guys for six spots, but I think
that's gonna be fascinating to watch. Now, again, you probably
could be able to get one of them to the
practice squad and that makes it a little easier, but
nonetheless it was it's I think it's gonna be a
very competitive room. And then what it looks like, you know,
in in practice is going to be not in practice
(51:36):
in games, what it looks like when they're actually how
they deploy them in reality will be interesting because Jerome
Baker's got will capabilities. Swessinger is a mic linebacker, but
Hicks is a mic linebacker as well. Bush is more
of a Sam. Diabat is more of a Sam slash.
Mike Reid is kind of can do it all, and
(52:00):
Watson's more of a bigger guy, so I'd probably put
him more Sam. But you know, we're only gonna play
two linebackers the majority of the time, so I think
it's gonna be Swstener and Hicks a lot. But Jerome Baker,
with his speed, he could be out there doing some
of the things that you know they would have wanted
Jeremiah Usukorromoa to do. So that's what I think is
gonna be interesting. How do they how do you actually
rotate this defensive unit and how does it play out?
Speaker 5 (52:21):
Yeah, look, I know that Joka is a huge loss
for this football team. Yes, this is a talented room. Still,
very They've got some playmakers here. Yeah, Hicks is a stud.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
Swessinger I think is as we've talked about is a
very interesting performer and what that ends up looking like
is going to be you know, when we're in Nickel,
for example, is it Sweesssinger and Hicks or is that
where is it Baker and Swesssinger? Is it Baker and Hicks.
That's what I'm talking about in terms of what does
this actually look like when we're when we're getting into
(52:56):
the mix.
Speaker 5 (52:56):
You know, Winston Reid a guy that I really really like, Yeah,
and Special Teams made his presence felt. I know Tarvs
likes him. It's a guy definitely worth watching. Yeah, I
think this this is a position you mentioned it seven
seven guys for five spots or six maybe six. You
got to make your bones in the Special Teams room
(53:17):
more so maybe than the defensive side.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Yeah, that's how you make the roster.
Speaker 5 (53:22):
Yeah, I mean, and we can't go to sleep on Diabate.
Speaker 3 (53:26):
Can't go to no and you can't go sleep on
Devin Bush, who played very well for the Browns last year. Yeah,
so there are quite a few options. But you know,
I think you're talking Jerome Baker, you're talking Swiss Injury,
You're talking Booky Watts. There are just a lot of guys.
That will be interesting to see how this ultimately plays
itself out in terms of who is where for these
(53:47):
linebackers and in what situations.
Speaker 5 (53:49):
Yeah, all right, a couple of big questions for you.
Who's stock is up? Who needs to step up in
this linebacker room?
Speaker 3 (53:56):
Uh? Stock up? I think that's a that's a good quest.
And I think Swesssinger has I know, made a very
strong impression in the early going, so I'd say maybe
his stock is up a little bit. And it's good
to see, you know, Hicks out there and healthy. There's
a lot of talent in the room. I mean, you
think about a room in which you know it's much
more experienced than I think it has been in years past.
(54:20):
And what do I mean by that is you know,
you say, well, we've got a rookie in there. So
Jordan Hicks has played one hundred and thirty four games
with one hundred and thirty one starts. Devin Bush has
played in eighty one games with sixty one starts. Jerome
Baker has played in one hundred and four games with
(54:41):
ninety starts. So I mean, you've got a real veteran
experience in that room to go with the rookie and
the young guys. You know, Diabate has only been in
the league for two years, but he's played. But he's
played plenty of games as well. He's been in twenty
nine games. He started eleven games last year for the Browns.
I movediabat. They had seventy tackles last year for the
(55:02):
Cleveland Browns. So there, You've got a lot of guys
in this room that have played a lot of football.
And then also Carson Swesterner. So it's gonna be I
think it's gonna be fascinating. Seew it all plays.
Speaker 5 (55:11):
Out, Uh, step up is more along the lines of
like Jordan Hicks, that green sticker guy. We saw it
with Anthony Walker, like the injury bug starts to creep
up on you gotta see him healthy.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
Yeah, you want to see him stay healthy. And I
think you know, when people were saying Swashner was drafted
because of Joka Sweshinger was really more drafted because to
be the succession plan at mike linebacker. Absolutely now, Hicks
played in nineteen twenty twenty one to twenty two, did
not miss a game, had one hundred and fifty tackles
one hundred and eighteen hundred and sixteen hundred and twenty
(55:44):
nine in twenty twenty three at one hundred and seven tackles,
but played in thirteen games last year are twelve games,
seventy eight tackles for the Cleveland Browns. So first time
since twenty eighteen that he did not have, you know,
one hundred ninety tackles or more, first time since twenty
nineteen didn't have one hundred tackles or more. So it
(56:06):
was from that standpoint, a little bit of a down
year for him in terms of availability and productivity. And
the other thing I want to look at was so
he played about eighty percent of the snaps on defense,
which is in line with it. You know a few
years back he played one hundred percent in Arizona ninety two,
ninety seven, Minnesota eighty one, ninety two, and then last
year eighty So that was his lowest snap counts once
twenty seventeen from a percentage basis, and overall at six
(56:30):
hundred and four snaps. So you want to see him
healthy and playing more and we'll see how they again, Swesstinger,
where does he fit in? How does that work out? Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (56:39):
Next, what should our reasonable expectations be for rookie linebacker
Carson Schwessinger.
Speaker 3 (56:45):
I think you want to see if he can be
a productive player for you, at least in sub packages.
I expect him to be really good. I mean, this
guy that was very good. You took him early base
the first pick of the second round. It's like basically
first round pick. Like I expect him. I think he
should be playing all the time. Yeah, and he should
earn the right to playoff time.
Speaker 5 (57:06):
But that's that to me, was not they were not
sure by the time their second pick in the second
round came around there he was going to be there.
Speaker 3 (57:14):
No, In fact, they are were pretty sure that he
wouldn't have been there. Yeah yeah, uh.
Speaker 5 (57:20):
X factor in the sly backer room.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
I think Jerome Baker is probably the X factor to
me in that room, just because he's got kind of
that speed and size and that makes him somewhat similar
on some level to j Okay, right, Like that is
in terms of what he could do in this defense.
It could be similar. So he's six', two it says
(57:43):
two Thirty jokay was or is six two two twenty.
One BAKER i think is maybe a little bit leaner
than that at this. Point BUT i think he's a
little bit of AN x factor just because of what
he can, do his, size his, speed and how he
can maybe do some of the things That jokay. Did
(58:04):
because if you're looking for that out Of, swessenger we're
talking about this is a completely different size. Guy swessinger
is a, big big.
Speaker 2 (58:12):
Guy.
Speaker 3 (58:13):
UH i think coming out he's a little bit. Bigger
he seems. Taller so we'll, see we'll see.
Speaker 5 (58:18):
There the player we aren't talking about right, now but
we will be talking about at the end of the
season is.
Speaker 3 (58:24):
Blank is there one in this? Room, uh that's the real. Question,
Yeah swssener's two. Forty that's WHAT i. Thought you, KNOW
i think it could Be Bookie, watson it could Be
Winston reid because we're really talking about everybody else quite a. Bit,
uh you're gonna talk About. Swessenger BUT i think that
(58:44):
he has an opportunity to really hopefully.
Speaker 4 (58:47):
He is.
Speaker 3 (58:49):
A very productive player right out of the, gate and
you're talking about him maybe as being an elite kind
of player as you get out of here at the
end of the.
Speaker 5 (58:57):
Season all, right more on how our lineback room compares
to the rest of the. League from PFF's Mason cameron
ranking the thirty two best linebackers in THE, NFL i
will tell you, this we have A Cleveland brown in
the top thirty two THAT jordanickxs is. Good Jordan hicks
is in tier five for. Them The browns linebacking corps
marred by injuries in twenty twenty, Four hicks was no.
(59:18):
Exception despite missing five, games played a pivotal role in
the team's. Defense following the injury to J, Okay hicks
earned his HIGHEST pff overall grade since Leaving philly in twenty.
Eighteen he will now again play a crucial role In
cleveland in twenty twenty. Five can you give me the
top five? Linebackers do you think you could do?
Speaker 3 (59:39):

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
No is it A Bronco, Yes Cody Barton.
Speaker 5 (01:01:50):

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):

Speaker 5 (01:02:49):

that whole, process getting the pro, day getting all of
that behind you and actually putting a helmet on and
throwing a football just felt normal, again didn't?
Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
It it?
Speaker 8 (01:12:19):

Fun do you not have Fund, No.
Speaker 15 (01:12:28):
No for, SURE i have, Fun but you got thinking
those process it's so, serious so, serious so serious all the,
time and whenever you're around the teammates and just being around.
Everybody now it gave me that wholesome feeling, again just
being around just the, team, chemistry to different personalities that
you're gonna, meet just all those different type of, things
so like be loose in other, words like yourself a
(01:12:49):
little bit. More, Yeah i'll say that that's What that's
what teams bring out of. You so now everybody yelling
with each, other everybody met each. Other so it's really exciting,
that you, Know i'm excited for today's.
Speaker 7 (01:12:59):
Practice feels like the pressures off feel a little bit
more ad, pressures like like the way to the world
of the whole. Process, no not.
Speaker 15 (01:13:06):
Really the way of the process is like you actually
able to meet and understand different human beings that is
in the same process with. You that's what the most
interesting thing and fun thing to me is now that
you know these are actual people.
Speaker 12 (01:13:22):
Too we don't see, it but you're wearing. Twelve you're
joking to the media that you're not buying anyone else's
number right.
Speaker 7 (01:13:29):
Now, no but did twelve feel? Good It's dad's number.
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
Backwards you get the, Hint.
Speaker 6 (01:13:37):

Sure it felt. Good where any number gonna feel good wearing?
Speaker 12 (01:13:44):
It is about WHAT i do in the number for
real a level you said out there as, well you
said you're not here to prove people, wrong finish it for.
Speaker 6 (01:13:51):
Me you are.
Speaker 8 (01:13:53):
Here to prove myself.
Speaker 6 (01:13:54):
Right how do you prove yourself? Right win?
Speaker 15 (01:13:58):
GAMES i think that's what all the fen and that's
when everybody want to want to see and just be
the PERSON i KNOW i.
Speaker 12 (01:14:04):
Am how do you embrace this, competition not just With
Dylan gabriel but with the other quarterbacks and what we
all agree is a crowded quarterback?
Speaker 6 (01:14:14):
Room how do you do?
Speaker 15 (01:14:15):
That just focus on myself and WHAT i need to
do to get better in any areas you, Know i'm
not going.
Speaker 7 (01:14:22):
In what have your first couple of?
Speaker 12 (01:14:24):
Days you've been here for a while, now a couple
of weeks, now been In, cleveland whether it's going to
meet kids at a high, school working, out sitting in
your hotel, ROOM i, know watching the caves and grinding
on the playbook as.
Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Well what's that all been like for?
Speaker 15 (01:14:37):
You it was in a good, experience it's been different for.
Me it's, ADJUSTMENT i would, say but it's an adjustment
for the. Better like you, know WHEN i get to
my hotel, ROOM i feel comfortable in there every, day you,
know BECAUSE i Know i'm not leaving here until they say.
So it's exciting you know That i'm able to have
(01:14:59):
a nice places sleep at that's made me feel, cozy
make me feel at home THAT i KNOW i won't
be switching rooms and getting in and out, of you,
know a different hotel.
Speaker 7 (01:15:09):
Room how important is it for you to get out
in the.
Speaker 15 (01:15:12):
Community i'll say it's extremely, important but it's important.
Speaker 7 (01:15:17):
For my own.
Speaker 8 (01:15:18):
Happiness how does it make you?
Speaker 15 (01:15:20):
Happy it makes me happy Because i'm being able to,
connect connect with, people connect with human, beings and not
just because this is the. Thing if you live in
a world of social, media you're gonna think very. Negatively
and it's for all. Athletes you'll think very negatively about
yourself or you'll feel too high. Up you get What i'm,
saying because that's how media is either gonna be, however
(01:15:43):
they're gonna tear you. Down it's gonna be one to.
Speaker 8 (01:15:44):
Two it'snum.
Speaker 15 (01:15:45):
Between so for, ME i don't pay attention to that.
STUFF i focus, on you, know real. LIFE i never
seen hate in real life by fans and people spectator
THAT i, met, ever so, hey only exists.
Speaker 7 (01:16:01):
Online how do you deal with? It because it's a.
Speaker 12 (01:16:05):
Lot i'm not, saying, hey it's just it's. Spotlight some
of it can be, negative, certainly how do you deal with?
Speaker 15 (01:16:09):
That it's the same as it is every, year So
i'm accustomed to. It i'm used to, It SO i
don't even really you, know focus on or they don't
live in my mind at.
Speaker 12 (01:16:22):
All what's the biggest misconception about, you whether it be
from social.
Speaker 8 (01:16:27):
MEDIA i don't know what people think of. ME i
don't know what people think of.
Speaker 15 (01:16:32):
Me so if we had just a question there and
put everybody in the, building what do you think about your? Door,
eventually Then i'm pretty Sure i'll be number.
Speaker 12 (01:16:40):
POSITIVE i guarantee you there'll be plenty of positives as,
well and there'll be positives when they get out there
in the field as. Well you have a message here
For browns fans who have been speaking of social media
obviously sitting on their, phones hanging on their phones looking
for every possible clip of you Or dylan or any
of these, Rookies Mason graham all the way down the.
Speaker 7 (01:17:00):
Line what is your message here for the dog Pat we're.
Speaker 8 (01:17:04):
Here to, work, Simple that's what we came here to.
Do that's what we're gonna, do.
Speaker 12 (01:17:11):
All, right and that work begins this, Weekend. Shador the
twelve looks good man begins now begins now actually?
Speaker 8 (01:17:17):
Yesterday all, Right well we're.
Speaker 7 (01:17:18):
About to get out there for day.
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Two good luck with.
Speaker 7 (01:17:20):
That man really enjoyed that conversation With Shador.
Speaker 12 (01:17:23):
SANDERS i want to pull back the curtain IF i
could for you, here SO i actually made the rookie
mistake to show you the kind of Teammate shador.
Speaker 7 (01:17:31):
Is at the very beginning of that, INTERVIEW i got
the days. WRONG i, MEAN i don't know why we
all been on the.
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Road everyone's been. Working AND i.
Speaker 12 (01:17:40):
Said that today was what day is? IT i got
the day. WRONG i said it Was friday On, saturday
your first day.
Speaker 6 (01:17:50):
As A brown in.
Speaker 12 (01:17:51):
Uniform, Saturday, Saturday Friday. Friday, Yeah, OH i got my
d is. Wrong you want to do it, again?
Speaker 3 (01:18:02):
Dude?
Speaker 12 (01:18:03):
Right and he looked at, me, huh and he's corrected,
me and THEN i didn't get. It and then this
is like twenty seconds into the, interview and Then i'm,
like oh, MAN i got the days.
Speaker 7 (01:18:12):
Wrong we had a good laugh about, it and then
we started.
Speaker 12 (01:18:16):
Over but like you saw a little glimpse of, him
like he was going to be a good, teammate he
was going to help, you he was going to pick
you up, right and and we started. Over and THEN
i also really thought that came through again later in
the interview when he said That, gibbie he said after
day one of practice that he wasn't really himself and
(01:18:38):
part of being himself is getting that energy from his
teammates and learning everyone's name and getting to know the
people you're going to be sharing a locker room, with
and that that process is something that he really enjoys
and that with each passing day he's going to be
more of.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
Himself. YEAH i mean you saw it a little bit
today with the.
Speaker 5 (01:18:57):
Media, YEAH i mean that that's an environment and he
thrives in he can handle, himself and THAT i think
a lot of that is. Him some of, it, obviously
he gets from his. Father with being able to handle the.
Media BUT i mean that's you saw the confidence a
little bit more.
Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
Today.
Speaker 12 (01:19:12):
Yeah and another thing from that as, Well browns. FANS
i don't know if it was the reason he picked,
twelve but twelve is the opposite of the number his dad,
wore which was twenty.
Speaker 7 (01:19:24):
One and WHEN i pointed that, out he, said you get.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
It good stuff, there give a shador would nice kid
helping out a Mister siciliano there giving him an, assist
giving him. Assist that's, right good. Interview, though you know
who else wore number? Twelve AND i could be wrong about,
this but it popped into my, head so you can give.
It Then John stockton were number, TWELVE i think so he. Did,
yeah there we go, distribute great distributor and that's What
(01:19:52):
Dedor sanders wants to be at this. Level so Great
costell said he could be like a great point guard
at this, level and that's what certainly.
Speaker 5 (01:19:58):
The stockings sixty three years, old he's still.
Speaker 3 (01:20:01):

you had a minor fender bender and it was her
fault And i'm, like, okay what else were you? Doing
