(00:33):
Bowl champion Amani Tumor here breaking this heartbreaker down. The
Giants went out to Denver and fell to the Broncos.
Thirty three thirty two is the final score, but Amani,
the Giants led nineteen to nothing to start the fourth quarter.
They were up twenty six to eight with five minutes
and fourteen seconds left in the game, ended up falling
to a walk off field goal by Will Lutz as

(00:55):
the Wheels kind of came off. Thirty three points by
this Denver Broncos team in the fourth quarter. That's a heartbreak.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
It's definitely a heartbreaker, but you know, you can look
at it two ways. You can look at and beat
yourself up over what should have, could have, would have,
could have should it would have happened. But what you
know through you know, being around this and playing and
for such a long time as both of us have
been doing, me playing, you being around.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
But I don't think anyone was confusing which one of
us played.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I'm just trying to keep your crystal, you know what
I mean. But there's ten games left.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Right We're not where we want to be, but we're
playing much a much better brand of football.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Than in the beginning of the year. You know, every
game has been competitive.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Saints game was a little bit of an anomaly, but
even that game, there was moments where we played well.
So I'm the ever optimist when it comes to seasons,
especially when you have ten games left, which is basically
another season. You really have to flush this game like

(02:04):
a mature team would flush this game and work on
next week, because that's the only thing you really can
control is your next performance. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Well, and speaking of next week, the Giants are taken
on the Eagles. The Eagles played the Broncos two weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Now.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
The Giants, of course, beat the Eagles on Thursday at
Football last week, Eagles played the Broncos two weeks ago
in a very similar fashion. The Eagles had a sizeable lead,
the Broncos came back late in the game and were
able to do that that one in Philadelphia. So can't
blame the altitude for that one. But this is a
Broncos team that doesn't have a lot of quid in them,
and despite being shut out in the first three quarters
of this Week seven game against the Giants, they still

(02:41):
kept rallying and were able to make the most of opportunities.
You know, late in the game, they're able to put
some scores on the board. Jackson Dart throws an interception
that you'd like, you'd like to get back, and you know,
suddenly it's a one score game for this Broncos team.
I will say, though, credit to Dart. One thing that
really stands out about him as a young qu orderback,
not just in this game but in this league, and

(03:02):
what we've seen from him since it started training camp,
is that he's able to bounce back and evolve and
you know, hey, I made this mistake I'm not going
to make it again, throws that interception instead of letting
that affect his confidence, is able to lead this Giants
team down the field, score a one yard rushing touchdown
that he superman's into the end zone with thirty seconds
left on the clock and able to kind of put

(03:24):
the team on his back to get them in a
position to have a two point lead again with thirty
seconds left in this game.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, when you look at a quote young quarterback, the
fact that he can change the momentum of a game
and not let the situation become throwing an interception and
then having the weight of all that responsibility kind of
coming on his shoulders and him just kind of shirking
it off and putting together and engineering a drive that

(03:50):
put them in position to win game, to win this game.
When he left the field, they were winning with thirty
some seconds left.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
More often than not, you're going to win those games.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
But I think that is something that you need to
focus more on than this actual game, because you I
think what's really starting to emerge is Cam Skataboo is
the real deal. Jackson Dart is progressing as a young
quarterback should and would, and he's showing signs of life.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
He's not hiding and cowering.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
He's not blaming anybody else about the interception that he threw.
He's taking it all on the chin and moving forward.
And that's what you expect from a young player. And
that's the mentality it takes to be successful in this league.
You can't when things go wrong.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
You just take it on the chin and move forward.
Get in here. If you're lined up here, you gotta
go over the middle with at the score great, how
do we make that happen? I don't know, but Citizens?

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Does it makes sense of your money with Citizens Official
Bank of Eli Manning. Yeah, And you know the Giants
scored that touchdown. Jude mc tamney misses the pat on
that one. That was his second miss pat. You know,
early in the game he missed pat. The Giants score again,
they go for two, they don't convert there, and then
late in the game miss pat. So that's kind of

(05:09):
three points at least left on the field. Another player
who kind of put it on his shoulders too. Yes,
there's a lot going on. Brian Able talked about how
one of those miss pat's was definitely procedural, and you know,
You don't know if it's the snap, if it's the hold,
if it's this holder still spinning when the kicker makes contact.
There's so many elements that go into it, but at
the end of the day, it's the kicker who misses
the field goal. And Jude said after the game, pay

(05:31):
I'm a professional kicker. I need to make those taking
that on the chin as well. Unfortunate though, because you
leave those points on the field and that comes back
to bite you in the end of this We got
to talk about though, this Giants defense. I mean, coming
into this game, it was a much ballyhooed Broncos number
two overall defense, how fierce they are leading the league
in sacks. Giants put up thirty two points on this defense.

(05:52):
They were able to hold their own and the Giants
defense was really able to smother too. Again, three shutout quarters,
Brian Burns, two sacks, getting pressure on this offense. On
this Broncos offense, it was tough though, money because later
in the game we saw Javon Holland go out with injury,
Paulson and Debo go out with injury, and this Giant's

(06:13):
defense was really just gassed and trying to play that
deep field down the stretch.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, I think they you know, as soon as the
injury started happening in the secondary.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
This seems like the momentum shifted.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Holland went out, and I think after those when he
went out, I feel like a lot the game wasn't
the defense wasn't as together as they were before.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Well, it changed the complexion of the defense. But credit
to Dane Belton who stepped in and made some plays there.
But then you know, when, of course Paulson a Diba
goes out, you got your starting safety and the starting
corner out, Paulson Diebo goes out, you got Tay Bank
stepping in. You know, he did the most of what
he could late in the game.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Yeah, I think he was there. You know, he was
around the plays.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
He didn't blow he coverages, he just wasn't able to complete.
He was in position, wasn't able to knock away, knock
some balls away. But regardless, I feel like the overall
momentum started shifting, and I think I don't think the
defense ever really recovered towards the end of the fourth quarter,

(07:20):
which is something I feel like, you know, needs to
you know, it's something that this defense needs to to
start thinking about and start really kind of getting into
the mental part of the game because they were dominating
for so long and then all of a sudden they
just stopped. They need to be able to turn you know,
hit that that on button again.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Yeah, and I mean, you know, talk about dominating Cordill
float also making some huge plays at corner. When you
and I were watching this game though, too, one thing
that stood out to both of us is just the tackling.
And you know, for years past, we've seen the Giants
defense have some struggles in tackling, have some struggles in
completing this, and you know, the Giants defense was able

(08:01):
to kind of complete these tackles. Talk about the physicality
that you saw there.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Yeah, I mean this these last couple of games, I've
seen the Giants team that I'm really more accustomed to,
you know, winning on both sides of the line of
scrimmage on the offense, defense really pushing around people. I
think when I watched that Eagles game on Thursday night,
I was shocked at how I was thinking. Am I
watching the twenty twenty five Giants push around like the

(08:24):
you know, the twenty fifteen, twenty seven twenty seven eight team.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
It's just a different brand of football.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
And I don't know if everybody can see it, but
when I look at this team, I don't see the
same team as last year. I don't see even the
record might be similar or whatever. I see a different squad.
I see a squad that's competitive, fighting, And I mean
that's pretty much all you can ask as a fan,
the fact that your team is going to fight every week,
and this is what this team does, and they're going

(08:54):
to start winning more of these games as they get
more comfortable with each other and and things start, things
really start.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
I think, I think things.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
I think we've turned a corner as an organization, and
I think things are going to start going in the
right direction.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
If you want to know how to manage two minutes
of crunch time football, I'm your Matt.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
But if you're wondering about a long term financial plan,
you should talk to Citizens.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Hey, I can also talk long care. I'd like to
learn about anolia routine. Yes, I knew I could help
makes sense of your money with Citizens. Yeah. Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
And you know, you look at the way that this
game goes. You know they give up five straight scoring
drives for the Broncos in the fourth quarter. That's an
unfortunate one. And you think, okay, this is like the
New Orleans game in which they had five straight turnovers
and just couldn't get it right. But this also kind
of feels a little bit like the Dallas game because
you got to put a point out. They put up
thirty two points and they came down to it, they
just weren't able to close. And for a young team

(09:48):
that is looking to build off of this young nucleus,
like you said, there's a lot of positives. Of course,
this is a heartbreak and there's no moral victories in
the National Football League.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
This is going to go.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Down in the lost column and that's not something you
want to see. But they're turning the page, you know,
and they've got another game. Like you said, there's ten
games left in the season, and or eleven, yeah, or
ten games left in the season eleven weeks starting with
another division matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, who the Giants
just defeated on Thursday Night football. When you lose a

(10:20):
game like this and you want to just get right
back out on the field, how important is that, And
especially when you've got a matchup like the Eagles coming
in going to Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Well, I understand when you play an AFC team, it
doesn't count as much as playing an in conference game,
or more specifically, an in division game. Those are the
ones that count the most towards the playoffs. So when
you look at the Broncos game, you lost it, you
know it was a good game. Giants are the only
team to score thirty two points this weekend and lose

(10:51):
every other team that scored thirty two points or more one.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
So I feel like if you keep.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Scoring thirty two points every week in and week in
and week out, you're gonna win more games than you lose.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Unfortunately, they lost this one.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
But you know one thing that this team has to do,
and you heard Dexter Lawrence say it in the interviews,
is you got to flush this game and don't let
one mistake and one bad game and one heartbreaking loss
turn into two because that's when the season really starts
to unravel. And this team is playing too well, too

(11:26):
physical and executing at too high of a level to
lose and have their record not reflect it. And I
think if they keep playing well, their record is going
to reflect how good they are they're gonna win a
lot of games down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
And to quote one of our favorite shows of Money.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Yeah, exactly, you've got to be a goldfish, just like
Ted Lasso, you know, the goldfish has they're always happy
because their memories are three seconds long, you know, So
they'll they'll do something and then three seconds later they'll
be happy again.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Or if they do something well, they'll be you know,
they'll they'll go right back to normal.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
And that's what you got to be in this season
because because there's a lot of ups and downs, you
got to go right back to the normal. Don't get
too high, don't get too low, and just keep on
fighting and keep putting forth the effort. And that's when
you have success, sustained success, sustain success.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Right And as though you know, it's a heartbreaking loss
in Denver, the Giants fall to two and five on
the season with a thirty three thirty two lost to
the Broncos. But again, a lot of ballgames left, a
lot remains to be played for We'll be here wrapping
it up each and every week. And that's a wrap
for a week. Seven Giants Rapid Reaction on the Giants
