Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
Michael Bumpus.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Playfake going to roll right, dumps it off of the
right flat to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one
tackler catch inside the forty down of the forty.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Five yard line powered by seahawks dot Com.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Matt pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
into the m zone. Touchdown Sehawks. It's Michael Bumpas with
a diving catch in the end zone. A ten yard touchdown.
Receptions for Bumpers, and the kid out of Washington State
has found himself a place on this team.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Now here's your host, Nasa Chobie. Welcome into another edition
of Hawk Talk, the Seahawks getting ready to take on
these Minnesota Vikings the Vikings looming Field broadcasting line from
Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented by Sony, the official partner of
the Seattle Seahawks. Bump I don't even describe it. Everyone
knows out there this is a big game. Yeah, big

(00:50):
time guy, gotta have it. Seahawks lost to the Packers
last week. It didn't end the season. I think a
lot of us have talked about that you had to
win one of the next two games. You knew the
Packers in the Vikings and the NFC North was gonna
be big contests, and boy, do you need this one.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
This is the game. Last game that was a game too.
You get that out the way, you feel better about
whatever happens this game. But this is the game. You
gotta get this done. The Vikings are good. Sam Donald's bat,
Kevin O'Connell probably gonna get Coach of the Year. Brian
Flores second year with the Vikings defense got them going.
You gotta show up.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Yeah, this game is gonna be a hard run for
the For the Seahawks, definitely. They are Stacked're gonna go
through all the matchups. What you need to know, but
first is get into them. What's on tap? What's on tap?
These Vikings are twelve and two, second place in the
NFC North, technically tied for first place with the Tetroit Lions.
The Lions had beat them early in the year, but

(01:41):
these two teams play each other in a couple of weeks,
so they have that going for him. The Vikings have
beat the Giants, the forty nine Ers, Texans, Packers, Jets, Colts, Jags, Titans, Bears, Cardinals, Falcons,
and Bears. They've lost to just those Lions and those
Los Angeles Rams. That was the one game where Sam
Darnold got that face mass in the back of the
end zone. They didn't call it on Monday night. They're

(02:02):
already down by a score. I believe they're gonna have
to go to the length of the field. But they
lost that game. These guys are good, bump, and I'm
not going to say they took advantage. They did what
they were supposed to do against a not very good
football team last week against the Bears.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Yeah, they kept it rolling. They won thirty to twelve.
They have now clinched a spot in the playoffs. They've
won seven games in a row, so they're good to go.
Like you mentioned, they're tied technically with the Lions twelve
to two.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
They'll play them again. But the Vikings weren't in control. Man.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
They finished leading by double digits for most of the game,
about fifty minutes. Sam Darnold was twenty four or forty
two hundred and thirty one yards, one touchdown, one interception.
He did have a thirty yard touchdown pass dropped by
Justin Jeferson.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
You're not going to see that Offen. Don't beg on that.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
And then he threw his first interception in five games
three plays later. Aaron Drones remember that guy, he used
to play for the Packers. He had eighty six yards
on eighteen carries.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, I mean, very good football team. They did what
they're supposed to do.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
The Bears.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
I've been in all kinds of you know, if I
either head, coach, different promotions, things like that. Cale Williams
still getting hit. Look at him on the sideline looking
all hurt. It's been tough for that number one pick,
looking sad over there. He'll be all right, though he
has to be turned the ball over a lot.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
So as long as he's not turning the ball over
a lot, then you can be optimistic he'll be okay.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Just need to coach, yeah, and he can be okay.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
I don't know in week eighteen, because the Seahawks do play
the Bears in two weeks after Christmas, so hopefully they're
still struggling quite frankly when that game comes around. Anyway,
these vikings, they continue to find ways to win. As
we look at the head to head comparison, bump ball.
Start here with the offense. Seahawks tied for fifteenth in
the NFL, averaging three hundred and thirty four yards a game,
twenty eighth in rush offense at ninety four game pass offense,

(03:43):
they are fifth in the NFL two hundred and forty
yards per game. In points per game, they are fourteenth
at twenty two points per game. Flip it over to
the Vikings, they're pretty close to the Seahawks. They're better
at running the ball though. They are twelfth when it
comes to total offense three hundred and forty nine yards
a game, fifteenth, middle of the pack when it comes
to running the ball at one hundred and thirteen yards
per game. Pass offense, they're eighth at two thirty six

(04:05):
and points per game they're tied for eighth at twenty
six point four. So yeah, they edge the Seahawks in
most categories, will not by a lot. They are in
explosive players on offense without question. When you look at
the numbers. Sam Dardinel, surgeons will talk a lot about him.
But the Seahawks aren't that far off.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
No, they're not. And it's cool to see that they're
not that far off.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
And we know what the Vikings have offensively over there
when it comes to their personnel. Defensively, the Seahawks are
nineteenth overall. The Vikings are thirteenth. The Hawks are twenty
second against the run, the Vikings are second. This is
where the number switches a little bit. Gotta be good
against the run or run the ball good against this
team that's pretty good against the pass. The Hawks are
thirteenth against the pass, the Vikings are twenty ninth points allowed.

(04:43):
Hawks are allowing twenty two point four, that's fifteenth. The
Vikings are allowing eighteen points. That is fourth. Time of possession.
Vikings get the nod there and interceptions twenty interceptions on
the year.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
They are getting after it and the Hawks have eleven.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, talk about this. They will take the ball away.
That's two straight weeks the Seahawks are playing the teams.
They do a great job in the back end taking
the football away, and then you could have turnover differential
Seahawks and negative five.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
They're at plus eight because they take the ball away.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
So definitely something that we're gonna, you know, keep looking
at this week as the Seahawks take on these Vikings
and for a while they're kind of felt like they
were playing every year.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
But let's know the history between these two teams, no
your history.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Seahawks lead all time series thirteen to six. The Seahawks
have have the one to ozer edge in the postseason
if you guys remember the Blair Walsh game. The Seahawks
have won seven of the last eight matchups against these guys.
Last meeting, though, was the one the Seahawks didn't get
against the Vikings was twenty twenty one, this first time
and the only win for the Vikings in this series
since oh nine. The Seahawks fell thirty to seventeen on

(05:44):
the road. Started off pretty good. Russell found DK for
a ten yeard touchdown. Then the Vikings answered Chris Carson
got in the end zone. The Seahawks at one point
had a ten point lead, but then it was all
Vikings from then on out. They scored the final twenty
three points. Kirk Cousins had a solid day, going thirty
thirty eight three twenty five three and three touchdowns no picks.
Madison had one hundred twelve yards rushing. Justin Jefferson was

(06:05):
younger than was still balling nine receptions one hundred and
eighteen yards in a touchdown. DK led through Seahawks receivers.
He had one hundred seven yards in a tud Hopefully
see a little bit of that on Sunday, and Chris
Karr should finish to the day eighty yards twelfth carries
in a touchdown. Crazy thing about this bump. That doesn't
feel like it was that long ago because I remember
that game pretty well. Actually, not one person who made
a tackle on defense a day is on this football team.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
That's wild. See, I wasn't even thinking about this game.
My mind automatically went to COVID. That was a drive
the drive drive when DK had like three or four catches,
one on the sideline.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Fourth and six, like fifty yards is bomb on the
sideline up in a game when he touched out.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
I racist from my memory. I knew you were going
to go back to the COVID game, but I guess
I was wrong.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
No, that was the next one, and then Tyler and
Dka had the only ones on offense from that game
in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
So man, things changed, Yeah, quickly, things changed.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
But the Seahawks have rebuilt themselves and are looking to
rebound against the Minnesota Vikings.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Before we do that.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Let's check on the NFC West, what's the word and.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
The Seahawks or the NFC West champs?

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Again, what's the word in the West?

Speaker 3 (07:10):
On Hawk talk? All right, let's look at the standings.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
The Rams are eight and six, the Hawks are eight
and six, the Cardinals are seven to seven, and the
Niners are six in eight. With the loss, technically the
Seahawks fell out of first place in the division. If
the playoffs started today, which they don't, the Hawks would
be out. But the Seahawks still control their own destiny
and will win the NFC West if they went out.
As simple as that, control your own destiny. The remaining

(07:35):
schedule for the Seahawks got the vikings. Of course, this
week you're going on the road, pack your bags, going
to Chicago, play the Bears. You're going to La to
play the Rams. The Rams have to travel east coast.
Hopefully that jet lad gets them all right, got to
play the Jets, and then they have the Cardinals, and
then of course naturally you end with the Seahawks, the Cardinals,
you got to play the Panthers, the Rams in the Niners.

(07:57):
So it's set up for them. It's not the way
we wanted it. We wanted to be able to spare
a game if need be, But so what, you control
your own destiny. That's all you can ask for at
this point of the season.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, no question about it.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I mean again, the thing that we didn't like last
year the last two years quite frankly the Seahawks got
in the playoffs once Dent the other time, is having
to rely on other teams. It's always nice when you
can take care business on your own. The Seahawks still
have that in front of them, like you mentioned, so
hopefull they can get that done. We are broadcasting live
from the Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented by Sony, the official
partner of the Seahawks Bump and Patriots Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Here's the cool thing about the Cardinals.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
So we're all just going to come Cardinals fans for
the remainder of the season. Seahawks will beat them twice.
They have the tiebreaker there. We need the Cardinals to
stay active and stay relevant. We need them to win
this weekend. So next weekend against the Rams, that game
means something and they still feel like they could win
the NFC West. They took care of business against the
Patriots this last week didn't start well for them. They

(08:52):
lost two starting linebackers on the first five plays of
the game. They rallied back from that. They took a
sixteen to three fourth quarter lead. Dames Connor had two
fourth quarter touchdowns, kind of stealed the deal against the Patriots.
Caler Murray twenty three to thirty two, twenty four, no touchdowns,
no picks. He was fortunate he almost had a pick six.
I was ran back. There was a penalty on the play.

(09:12):
Good to go there. Trey McBride did his thing eighty
seven yards on nine catches, and uh yeah, So they
took care of business. They're still in it. And obviously
we're gonna be big Jets fans this weekend as well.
And I just I say all that because I just
like have extra assurances. I like to be easy, just
like anyone else. I'd like it to be easy, everything
set up for you. Yeah, the guys in that locker

(09:34):
room know none of that matters. They're not looking at
the scoreboard. They're looking at the team in front of them.
So they just got to take care of business there.
Forty nine ers. No one's thinking about y'all right now, No,
it's Raphael it is what it is, Raphael, And we
can say that because we don't play him again this year.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
Split We split too, So when's the last time we
split with the Niners.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
It's been twenty twenty nineteen, goodness grace nineteen because we
I think the Seahawks got him both in twenty and
got him both in twenty one and then lost the
next couple.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Talk about that, all right.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Anyway, get back to these Minnesota Vikings, Bump and I'm
gonna let you start this one off because this is
your guy, My dude, Sam Darnald.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Not say who you got, who you got? You know
what time it is. Man up Man up, brother, man
up man up on Hawk Talk.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
Like you mentioned, he was my guy up to this point.
Now after this game he can be my guy again.
But Sam Darnold, man, I have faith in this man
going to the Vikings and he did not disappoint man
his seventh NFL season, which is crazy. It's been a
bumpy ride. It was a third overall pick to the
New York Jets in twenty eighteen. He got drafted out
of USC You know they put out them quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
On his time in New York, he was pretty bad. Man,
it wasn't great.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Thirty eight games there, he was just thirteen to twenty five,
sixty percent passer with forty five touchdowns thirty nine interceptions.
He famously was caught saying out he's seeing ghosts and
that's messed up, and I got that dirty that is
going to live with him for the rest of his life.
So the Jets now have I'm seeing ghosts in the
butt fumble. They got two situations for a quarterback. But

(11:03):
you can't blame him. No one has success over there
at the quarterback spot. Chad Penning didn't have some success
back in the day. Maybe vin At tested.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Very but Marcianchez did when they had a good defense.
But we're talking over fourteen years ago. Yeah, it's been
it's been a while. The Sam Donald he was then
traded to the Panthers. He stayed there for one year.
There were four and seven.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
He had twenty five hundred yards, nine touchdowns, twelve interceptions.
He was benched the following year for Baker Mayfield. He
spent the last year at the backup in San Francisco
before signing with the Vikings in April, and then JJ
McCarthy was drafted tenth. Overall, the Vikings are feeling good.
You got your insurance playing. Guess what insurance comes to
clutch when you need it, And that's what Sam Donald

(11:39):
has been insurance and he's came through clutch. Man McCarthy
tore his meniscus, he's been out for the whole season.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
But Sam Donald's ball. He's playing like he's a pro bowler.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Man gylready has career highs in almost every category, games, completions, attempts, yards, touchdowns,
QB RAN and QBR all of that.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Through Week fifteen. There's where he stands as a passer.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
Passer rating his fourth asing touchdowns he's fifth, passing yards
he has sixth, and the completion percentage he is twelve.
Donald leads the NFL with fifty three completions of twenty
yards or more with thirty four and at least twenty
five thirty four completions with at least twenty five.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Yards this season.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
And you know why, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Alps, we got
to talk about that.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
You got Hockinson over there as well.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
My man is balling this year and it's fun to see,
but I don't need to see him ball this weekend,
get back to your old Jets self, Sam Darnald.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Yeah, Sam's doing a great surprise. I mean a lot
of people will draw the easy comparison to Gino Smith.
Obviously it's not exactly the same, but the same deal
where you were cast it aside your thought a certain
type of way. Granted, Sam Donald was a top five pick,
Gino was a second rounder, but you see the parallels
of maybe you were giving up on too early and
he's balling out.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
I mean, the numbers don't lie.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
I mean ty for second the season with ten games,
at least two touchdown passes, one hundred plus passer rating
eleven to fourteen games.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
He's a man.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
He's getting it done right now for them, and it
couldn't be a better scenario for them. I don't know
how much goes credit should go to Kevin O'Connell. I
think it's kind of a joint thing. But regardless of him,
Darnold has earned a big payday, whether it's going to
be with the Vikings or another team. So we'll see.
Hopefully s aus can contain him. We don't want him
getting off this weekend. So going on to our quarterback,

(13:14):
Gino Smith called Gino now biggest storyline coming to the week.
We've been talking about it. We've been concerned about it.
What's going on with Geno who's unable to finish the
game against the Packers that had a huge effect in
the game. Coach McDonald spoke on Wednesday about the status
of Geno Smith.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Gino feels good, did walk through today. We'll see how
many reps. We got a plan for practice. We'll see
how it kind of alters as practice. Arts is a
clear but he'll be out there for a significant capacity today.
We'll see how many reps he takes.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
The nice thing there, bump is after that he was
a full participant in practice.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
The optimism is still there, which is great for him.
Gino spoke at the podium today and he said, hey man,
he's getting better every day.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
He expects to play, and I think we expect to
see him there.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Usually if you're full participent on Wednesday after an injury
like that, you're gonna play. It's when he's on the
injury report DMP, DMP, So feel good about it. Again,
I'm not in charge of the final injury report, only
coach McDonald's speaks on that.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
So that'll come out on Friday.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
But it's looking good and I hope so, because when
Gino was in there, he had the bad interception we
know against the Packers, but he was fifteen to nineteen,
one to forty nine in a touchdown. He ended his
turnoverless streak at two games, which we need to get
started again. He's fifth place in essentially every meaningful category
among quarterbacks in franchise history. He's still fourth in attempts
in the NFL this year, second in completions, third in

(14:32):
passing yards in fifth and completion percentage. So we know
what he can do and we need him because he
gives the Seahawks the best opportunity to win football games.
I think that is clear as day. But this defense
of the Vikings got it is no joke. Yeah, they
can get her done. Man's good, holy smokes defense. But
when you look at it, Bump, I'll just say this
last thing. Twenty ninth against the pass, Okay, they can't

(14:53):
do anything. Thirteenth overall defense, they're not good, Bump. What'd
you see from him? Oh yeah, they're not good. First
in interceptions though, so they'll give up some.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
But also of you if you lay it up there,
they will snatch it out the air. They got Griffin
over there, former, you got Gilmour over there on the
other side. You know, was a Player of the Year
defensively one year, and then you got Harrison in the backfield.
So they might not look great on paper twenty nine
against the past thirteenth. Overall, they are first one it
comes to interceptions and in their first and passes defended

(15:20):
second in takeaways. They will be active. Don't let the
stats fool you. Watch that film. They can play, but
I think the Hawks can handle it. Let's look at
their running back, Aaron Jones. Eight years in the game.
It feels like he's been there a lot longer than
eight years. His whole career has been in the NFC North,
so he knows this team in that division very well.
He spent his first seven seasons with Green Bay before

(15:42):
joining the rival Vikings. This past offseason, the Packers made
the switch at running back, bringing in Josh Jacobs. Good
move for them. They also have what Warren over there
as well. No, no Warrens with the Pittsburgh Pittler I'm
tripping a right. Never mind, forget all that, but he's
a former fifth round pick out of UTEP. The UTEP
put out ballers low Key, who's already had a pretty
solid career Since becoming a full time starter in twenty nineteen.

(16:05):
He has three one thousand yard rushing seasons and just
twenty one yards away from one thousand this season. Jones
is also a threatened the pass game, averaging three hundred
and sixty two yards receiving per season since twenty nineteen.
Jones has reached eighty five yards rushing in seven of
the Vikings fourteen games in twenty twenty four, tied for
the fourth most games with eighty five plus rushing yards.

(16:26):
Only Saquon Barkley, Jon Robinson, and KM Williams have more
games at eighty five plus shards this season.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
That's a good group to be with.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
There's a new wave of running backs in this league,
and Aaron Jones is still hanging out with the old
heads like Day Henry and Saquon.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
I guess yeah, man, it's all good. I mean with
the young kids. Be calling them unk, right, all three
of them. But they're balling. Yeah, but they're balling, So
show your respect to your elders.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
God darn it.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Now, Aaron Jones is a baller. We know he's balled.
Anytime you're in category like that. He's consistent. Eighty five
rush yards a game. That's consistent. The Seahawks had figured
out their run defense, and I still think they have.
They had a rough first half, really a rough first
couple drives against the Packers.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
After that they were good.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Jones had or excuse me, Josh Jacobs had just twenty
one yards the second half after getting seventy four in
the first half last week. So the Seahawks defense definitely
need to step up there and hopefully they can keep
it going because Aaron Jones is a baller. We're broadcasting
from the Seahawks Podcast Studio, presented by Sony, the official
partner of the Seattle Seahawks. You talked up with the
receivers bump there they was dudes, straight up Justin Jefferson,

(17:24):
Jordan Addison.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
I'll throw T. J.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Hawkins in there because he just came back. I could
go for days about Justin Jefferson. We could do another
forty five minutes just on his stats alone. Since he
stepped in the league, baller, straight up immediately, one of
the best. He's got a thousand yards receiving in each
of his first five NFL seasons. Three time Pro Bowler
twenty twenty two is in All Pro with one hundred
and twenty eight receptions eighteen hundred yards eight touchdowns. He

(17:47):
was the league leader in receptions and yards that year.
Last season he only played ten games, still had over
a thousand yards with five touchdowns, only he didn't make
the Pro Bowl. And this year, you know, he's currently
second in the end NFL in receiving yards with twelve
hundred and forty three, tenth in receptions with eighty two,
and he surpassed seven thousand career receiving yards and week
fourteen Verstlanta, becoming the first player in NFL history with

(18:10):
seven thousand receiving yards in his first five NFL seasons.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
So Minnesota just just puts out great receivers. Apparently he
got a couple a guy named Carter Like, okay, now
this guy twentydle down Vikings goodness.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Twenty four reception of twenty plus yards this season. I
mean he keep him in front. He is dynamic, say
what you want, I mean he he is as good
as advertised. Spoon Breke Woland, Kobe Julian love. Everybody's gonna
have to do their party, going to do their part
up front to make sure that Sam Darnold doesn't have
all day to throw. You throw in Addison fifty one receptions,

(18:47):
seven hundred and seventy one yards, seven touchdowns. He's a
former first round pick from SC He's had multiple forty
yard catches, so he's the threat. Then he got Hockinson
who's been balling, bringing their tight end coming back Jordan.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
He don't get no pit Love, no Pittler. Then he
transfer from pitt Won to Blittan. The cough went to pitt.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Pitt was where You're right, I shouldn't disrespected pit. He
made his hay at Pitt and actually his numbers were
down at s SE.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
That was the last place he was at.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Yeah, okay, you know this, this is a new era
when it comes to football players. They're gonna be like
three different schools from Pitt to SCE to Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I know, I'm waiting for the Sunday at Football in
Show to be like Michael Bumpus, Washington State, Sack State.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Yeah, no, all the different ones. Yeah, it's crazy. Deeper
than the deepest is a rule for dbs, Yes, it is.
This is gonna have to be real serious. Is this
deeper than the deepest? Let's not forget t J. Hawkinson.
He returned after a week nine the Vikings tight end.
He's combined for forty nine receptions, tied for six months
in NFL and five and six to three yards, fourth

(19:47):
amongst teams that have targeted their tight ends at least
fifty times in that span. The Vikings lead the league
in yards per catch eleven point five. The group also
total thirty five receiving first downs tal a excuse me,
trailing only Kansas City's thirty seven first downs by tight end.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
When it comes to tight ends.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
There's like the old dudes who are balling, and then
there's Hockinson and Bowers and they're all the young guys.
He's leading the charge for that new school. Big ups
of Bowers too. He's having himself a good year.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Yeah, Bowers can play.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Yeah, but again, you talked about deeper than the deepest.
You're gonna have to do it because they are as
good as advertising.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Craigt me if I'm wrong, Bump, I don't think it's
really close.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Is there any other unit the Seahawks have faced like
this this season, no top to bottom.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
No one's touching it. That's it. I mean, nah, nont
wan't touch healthy healthy.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
I tried to give it to the Lions, but Laporta
hasn't been the same this year, and all they have
is they got around there.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
You got Whims as well, but it's just different here.
It's different. What about our receivers.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
All right, our guys JSN N d K versus your
guy Byron Murphy, Man you dub I see you all right,
Bier Murphy.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
Uh second year of JASN. He's just he's balling this year.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
Man seven straight weeks where he leads the team in
receiving Jason he leads a team in receptions yards and
receiving touchdowns. He also has He's also six yards away
from his first one thousands. Come on now, JSM there
has to be in a sit of in his contract
somewhere for that.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Hope you get it. We are going to get it.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
And I became the tenth player franchise history to reach
that mark one thousand yards.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
He will be.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Jayson is six in the NFL when it comes to
receiving yards with nine hundred and ninety four. He's also
seventh in receptions with eighty five getting his graces this season,
He's already set single season records for receiving yards, receptions, touchdowns.
He's just getting better. JSN the most reliable receiver we
have right now.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Yeah, I mean in proofs of the put in consistency
he's doing every single week and we've now come to
expect it. So while we've come to expect that, I
also want to get back to what we've come to
expect out of de Kaalen DK.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Come on, DK, we need a baby.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
He's averaging fourteen yards per reception, with just eighth in
the NFL with a minimum of fifty catches. He's had
a ten yard reception in every game. Despite his decreased
production since knee injury, fifty seven receptions, eight hundred and
forty yards, three touchdowns, I still think he has a
chance to get one thousand. Defensively, we talked about the
vikings m HM against the passing off great numbers, but
they take the ball away. Lead the NFL interceptions, passes defended,

(22:19):
second and takeaways and a lot of it.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Brian Murphy, former UT product. He leads a team with
six interception on the season, which is also second in
the NFL. He's got sixty one tackle, six picks, twelve
passes defended, five TFLs. You mentioned Shaq Griffin, Shack Love Shack.
He was always great to us when he was here.
And then your thirteen year vet Harrison Smith, So the
Seahawks have a chance to get after him.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
We know they can't. HM.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
It's about protecting Geno Smith and hope we can get
the ball out there. But if the Seahawks are gonna win,
we're gonna need to see production out of JSN and DK.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
For sure. They are nice combo man.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Eight hundred and forty yards for DK, then it's a
down year for him, and I anticipate he's gonna get
to one thousand yards. DK, you go do your thing,
but it's gonna be a challenge. You got Biyer Murphy,
like you mentioned that they're going to begins, got Harrison,
the Og, you got Griffin, he got the other og
and Gilmour.

Speaker 3 (23:04):
So come on, have your best day. DK, go ahead,
leave the charge.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Need it and we'll finish here. Bump the last ones
running back. Seahawks got to run the ball really, Hoping
Ken Walker is back this week, we're getting closer.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
And more opposition.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Weeks now, he's been out, Yes, he's been out since
the Jets game, so hopefully Ken will be back. Last
week sharbon name he only had fifty four yards, but
he also only had eight carries, had twenty four yard touchdown,
was still averaging six point eight yards of carry. So again,
we're really hoping that Ken Walker is back in the
lineup because we know how dynamic he is and they're
gonna need it because the Vikings defense, they're number two

(23:37):
in rush defense. They are getting after people bump. They
got two stud linebackers, Greenard van Ginkle. Their numbers are
all over the place. Man, they spent time away. They're
both free agents. I don't think anyone in Minnesota will
tell you the straight face, and they thought they're gonna
get this type of production from both of them. Heck,
they're combined for twenty sacks. I mean you look at
through fifteen weeks, Van Ginkle fifteen TFLs, tiph for six sacks,

(23:59):
he has nine ty for ninth defensive tds, he has
two touchdown and then green Art typer six and TFLs
eleven sacks. Fifth QB pressures third. Both of them together
bump are When I first put on the film defensively,
I looked at those two I was like, oh, damn,
those guys are different.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Yeah, those dudes, their reaction time, their recognition is just different.
And Brian Flores uses them well in their blitz game.
They blitz the most out of any team in the NFL.
So they are going to be getting downhill this offensive line.

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Last week, the challenge was with the d line.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
When it comes to Green Bay Packers, it's still going
to be a challenge obviously because the Vikings are what
top five when it comes to sacks. Defensive line does
a great job, but this linebacker group is something special.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
They really play well off each other. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
So but here's the one positive, everybody, here's the one positive.
Their number two in the league when it comes to
rush defense are only allowing eighty nine yards per game.
But the last three weeks now haven't been so good
on the ground. Arizona got one hundred and fifty four
on am on thirty one carries. Atlanta got one hundred
fifty eight on thirty two carries. Chicago got one hundred
and thirteen on twenty nine carries. So right now they're

(25:05):
giving up one hundred and forty one yards per game
their last three.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Yep, so there is hope.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
We know they got all the dudes on that defense,
but right now a couple teams have found something, some
cracks in the armor. So hopefully coach Grubb Gino Smith,
the rest of the offense, the offensive line can get
back there healthy, move some people, and get the running
back back up because we need it.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
The Seahawks need it.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
They need this game, and let's tell you how you
get The Seahawks are gonna win that game.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Path to victory. After forty five waits for the snack
PACKA Vicky puts it down. That kick is away.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
If that kick is gone, good, say off Quinn fifth gun.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
It's a pass to victory.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
On Hawk Talk, playoff mo baby, it's already been activated
and I got to keep it rolling.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Right.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
You felt to last week against the Green Bay Packers.
Now you feel it here. You still control your own destiny.
If you lose this one, you're gonna start need some help.
So let's not lose it. Man the Viking team, they're
a good ball to him on defense. We read all
the stats, right, good against the run. But like you mentioned,
last three weeks, got what a buck fifty eight, a
buck fifty seven, the buck thirteen. They will give it
up if you get the run going. So let's hope

(26:10):
that our running backs are healthy and ready to go.
Get after Sam Donald. He's been sacked a lot this
year and he doesn't want to run. I watched the film.
He wants to stay in the pocket. Like I'm sure
the Vikings fans are screaming at him to run the football.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
He don't want to do it.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
So it's a combination of him being patient looking down
the field for his weapons, and it's being stubborn with
not running the football is why he has sacks. If
he wants to stay in that pocket, big cat boy
a dt all, y'all get after him.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Absolutely need it, Absolutely need it. He can't be looking
like the Sam Donald of twenty twenty four, I like
some previous versions of him. And then you know they
got some really good receivers Jesse Jefferson, Jordanaison, Todd Hawkson.
You're not going to completely shut him down, but you
gotta keep in front. Limit the exposive players. They can't
be going off. I don't want to see Justin Jefferson
dancing all over the all over the end zone, all

(26:58):
up on the screen. I don't want to see any
of that. And to stop that, you gotta keep them
in front. And then you got to, you know, stop
the run from the jump. The last two games it
has been a little bit of slow. They figured it
out against the Packers, but unfortunately you're down fourteen to
nothing and it's a good team.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
It's hard to come back that way.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
So defensively, definitely can't have his slows starting that aspect
at all.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Yeah, no slow starts. And then, as always, protect your quarterback.
He will sack seven times last week seven times.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
So if you.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
Want to win this ball game, yeah, you have to
attack through the air. You gotta attack on the ground.
You gotta be the troops on the ground, the air
force in the air. You got to bring all the
branches of the Seahawks and military together and go get
this thing. Don take care of the football, especially in
the red zone. I'm tired of seeing it and I
don't want to see it again. Take care to rock. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
If you do all those things, you will come out victorious.
And let's make sure this is not the last game
at Loominfield to see how to take care of business
with the next three. They will win the division, they'll
have another home playoff game it Loominfield. Has been a
long time since that's happen, so let's keep that going
this NFL season. Feel every play, every hit, every moment
with a Sony one thousand x five noise canceling headphones,
the official headphones of the Seattle Seahawks. With premium noise cancelation,

(28:11):
You're in the zone, no distractions, just pure football. Whether
you're in your living room or on the go, You'll
never miss a beat with Sony headphones. It's a big game, Bump,
Seahawks need it taking on the Vikings. It's gonna be
a huge one of Lumenfield. Kickoff at one oh five.
Pregame show on the radio begins at ten o'clock. You
can come down to the Ticketmaster tailgate comes see Bumping

(28:31):
myself as we get you ready for kickoff.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
This has been Hawk Talk.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Hopefully we'll be talking to you on Monday about a
Seahawks much needed victory over these Minnesota Vikings. He's Michael
bumpa some NASA choby. We will talk to you next week,
