Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome to jag zamkayd Downie Stevens he or Brian Sexton
John Osier with us this morning. After a trip out
west to Las Vegas and an eventful game that went
into overtime, Jaggs walked away with a win. Let's go
into our big things today, brought to you by GEAJ
Government Employee Health Association Benefits for federal employees and retirees.
Big think Number one is lucky Cats, because Brian, that
first half was not good football and there's a lot
(00:38):
of mistakes made, but some way, somehow did team walked
away with a win out of overtime.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Well, I'd rather be lucky than good, but in this case,
I think they were pretty good when they needed to be.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Kai.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I mean, the eighteen yard pass from Trevor Lawrence to
Parker Washington at the end of the half that set
up the record field goal was beautiful and it was
at a moment in the game where normally you're just
trying to find a way and I thought it was
a great It was very heads up of Parker to
put the ball down.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Then they went under score on their next six possessions,
and that doesn't happen very often. It certainly hasn't happened
often in Jaguars history. So they were lucky at the
end when Devon Hamilton saved the safety who should have
been deep and protecting against Tyler Lockett. But John I
tend to think that they were good.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Yeah, I think a lot of times in the NFL,
you're gonna have on a normal season six seven games
to come down to the wire, you have to put
you you have to play well enough to put yourself
in a position to get breaks at the end. And
then in the NFL a lot of things, you know,
it can go either way. Considering that they did exactly
(01:41):
what they didn't want to do early, which to make
a lot of mistakes and play like the old way
last couple of weeks. To come out and play that
well through the second half, I thought it was a
gutty impressive NFL win. Considering how beat up they were.
It felt like the end of Rocky right with both
(02:01):
teams were just which one and all of them and
then one of them had to get up and the
Jags got up.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Credit to him, and you do you have to win
games like this over the course of n NFL season
the best teams, the Chiefs and the Bills and the
Eagles and the Ravens. You know, go back and look
the last couple of years, they all win games like
this where people may question, well it's just a one
point game and you should have beaten them. But that's
the NFL.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Finding a way. Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Second big thing today is going to be sick day
because I'm sure Trevor Lawrence would have appreciated this sick day.
He was sick all weekend, still found a way to
play the game. On Sunday, weim call and talked a
little bit about his performance.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
It was awesome. I mean, I'm really proud of Trevor. Obviously,
he was little. He was thrown up all night, all morning,
you know, as pale as a ghost throughout the whole game,
and obviously started a little bit obviously the frustrating interception
down on the goal line. But man, I was I'm
very proud of the way he responded, the way that
he played, especially later on when the game really was
(03:00):
on the line, critical third down conversions, had the draw
that he walks in on. I mean, he competed his
tail off. Very proud of him.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
John Trevor Lawrence was sick. I think Jordan Lewis went
out on the first or second play of the game.
They played through a lot, they had like one tight
end at one point they battled through well.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
I laugh.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
I got an email from readers so well Trevor did
look sick because he looked sick.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
He was sick.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Like if Brian walked in looking like that, I say, man,
go home, what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (03:30):
He?
Speaker 4 (03:32):
I tell Brian go home.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Anyway, But.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
It was impressive again two or three times this season.
Most teams you're going to get in a situation in
the second half where all of a sudden, you look
around and you're down at a position or two. And
I thought the receivers Austin Trammell, Tim Jones, these guys
weren't even on the active roster on Monday, and without.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Their two plays, I don't know that you win the game.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
So in the NFL, after covering this league forever, you
sort of roll your eyes a little bit when you
hear next man up, and you okay, next man up,
this is going to be fun.
Speaker 4 (04:08):
On Sunday. That was the story.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
You know, I, like most people, just put my head
in my hands when he threw that interception. You know,
it's just like, oh boy, here we go. And I'm
not sure that what we witness was necessarily a Willis
Reid moment for all of those who are old enough
to remember the great Knicks moment when Willis Reid came
back onto the court. But I think in the locker room,
John and Kay, it might be seen as that because
(04:31):
you're talking about a guy that was throwing up on
Saturday night at the hotel, and on Sunday morning he
was sick, and his teammates saw their leader, the quarterback
who had made a critical mistake at the end of
a seventeen play, ten minute and twenty seven second drive,
pick himself up. As hard as that is when you're sick,
(04:51):
We've all been there. And then to play as well
as he did in the second half, it was huge.
I mean it was as big to me as getting
up off the ground and scoring again Kansas City on
Monday Night football. I think that his teammates will see
him in a renewed light as a guy that they
depend on.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
I think that's fair.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
You get credit for playing sick, but also playing well
even so and helping the team get a win. Our
final big thing is going to be record breakers. There
were two of them. Josh heinz Allen finally getting to
that franchise mark. He's tied right now and needs another
half sack or sack to.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
Go above it.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
But also Cam Little, he saw him take that seventy
yarder in the preseason. Now he has the official record
with the sixty eight yard field goal.
Speaker 7 (05:32):
Like you're looking at it and I'm like, crap, this
is sixty eight yarder. And so yeah, you look at
it and it's like, you know, kick it straight enough,
kick it long enough, and it goes in. And it's simple,
simply put. We're playing indoors and we're on natural grass.
You kick it long enough and you kick it straight enough,
it's going to go in. And so Logan, me and
Logan kind of had like a one on one right
before the kick, and I said, it's ball as hard
(05:53):
as I can. And usually when I tell myself that,
I find success. So you know, it went out there
and just let it loose. I think that's why I
play my best.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Bran he didn't try to aim it, he said, he
just tried to kick it as far as he could.
What a way to bounce back after a couple of
weeks where people were saying maybe should bring in some
other kickers to challenge him, and he bounced back big time. Oo.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I think that's probably right. You just kick. How do
you aim from sixty eight yards away? That's a long way.
Patience is a virtue, but not in professional football, and
especially not when you have a team that's losing in
frustrating ways in back to back weeks. But when you
see talent John, when you recognize ability, you don't just say, well,
he couldn't do it today, he's got to leave. You
(06:34):
just work with it. And he's a young player. The
talent has been visible since the first time he kicked
a football on this practice field last year as a rookie.
You just calm down and you're patient because he has
extreme like strength, extreme kicking talent, and he's going to
win more games for the Jaguars than he's going to
cost them over the course of his career.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Yeah. I wasn't surprised when they stuck with and mainly
because he had missed two fifty yards. One of them
was at Wembley and the field there is different. It
was a difficult kick and it was fifty yards, which
are not gimmes. It's funny. When he lined up for
sixty eight, I thought he's gonna make this.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
I mean it.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
I've been expecting him to be not necessarily break the records.
I thought you never know circumstance, but I've been thinking
that it would not be unusual if he broke the
record in his first couple of years. So when he
did it, I tweeted out Cam did it. Good for
him because he has the leg strength. He hits him
(07:37):
all the time. I expect maybe by the end of
the season he'll hit from seventy and at that point
Kai he may not hold the NFL record.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
It seems like it's just every week, like even last night.
I know the Dallas kicker had a chance at sixty
eight as well. So it seems like kickers are beyond
what we've ever seen before. So it's pretty cool. Stay
with us here on jag Zam. We're gonna go over
some highlights on Sunday against the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Yeah expans.

Speaker 7 (08:11):
I mean I turned around. I heard them, you know,
I turned around.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
The balls on the ground, jacksmine, I'm exausted.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
I think Josh summed it up for most of us.
That was an exhausting game to watch at points, which
is the Dramatics and the cardiac Cats for sure.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Well, it was a fun game to watch, at least
in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Yes, let's look at some of the highlights. We'll start
out with the non highlight, just because that interception early on,
because that's kind of how the first half was going.
It was frustrating to watch if you were a Jags fan.
And then this one is just one of those ones
where Trevor let's it go and you're like why.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
We get those kinds of mistakes and they happen on
a regular basis, maybe even every single game. But it's
his ability, as he showed us to come back from
that kind of mistake. That's that's a confident arm putting
the charge football in.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
There, well, a confident ar. There was no way that
it was ever gonna work.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
He was trying to get a dtn early and it
wasn't there, and then obviously he just droved the ball,
and again, as you said, Brian, it's it's it's usually
once a game with something like that, where you go,
what's he doing, But then so often this season he's made.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Up for it with with gutty grit, which is what
we're about to see.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
Let's take another look at this kick, because John, you
mentioned when we were sitting at each other in the
press box, he lined up. You're like, oh, yeah, he's
gonna make this because I mean, I had I had
no doubt their indoors with the way it was going,
and also how much they needed it at that point
in the game.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Well, and that's sort of the thing that I think
was cool for everybody was when he made it. I
got to admit, after watching the first half, I was like, well, okay,
I'll be writing about this because I'm not writing about
the game because it's you didn't feel like they were
gonna get anything going. But the fact that it got
them going, I think made it meaningful for everybody.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
And again, he.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
He does this so consistently that I wrote several times
last year that I expected to break the record at
some point and probably hit from seventy before the end
of the season.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
So pretty smart.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Yeah, all you just ask you.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
I was the only guy saying that, Oh sure, I
thought that.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
It would be good indoors because he has the leg strength.
But I wasn't sure until I saw Logan Cook's hands
go up, which I thought was cool immediately. And halfway
through that and they're showing the end zone view and
his hands go up. That amazing.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
He knows better than I, so absolutely, And it's also
just really cool. I mean, we've talked about this before
because kickers can kind of be their own little thing
and the specialists can kind of have their own thing
going on. But they all embrace him so much, even
when it's you know, in the preseason even people were
freaking out, So it's kind of cool to see the
whole team embrace.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Him as much as they do well.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
And it was cool to see the coach be the
first one out there doing that great big bear hug.
I mean especially and then afterwards in the post game
press conference to talk about people wanted me to to
question him and give up on him, and you just
you don't give up on talent.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Like that, especially young talent like that. Let's look at
one of Trevor's rushing touchdowns early on. After the second half,
they came out inspired a little bit by the kick
and got some scoring going early, which they needed and
wasn't always there with the offense obviously, the kinds of
changes to the game plan with all the injuries and
you know, Travis Hunter going down earlier this week, but
he made it happen with his legs and kind of
(11:24):
got it going a little bit there, Trevor did at
that point in the second half.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
Well, they were you know, I thought it was a
good coaching job by Liam and just by all the players.
You could tell for the first you know, half three quarters,
they were just trying to find something that worked. As
Trevor said, stuff was working, and then they weren't getting
at home, so they were just trying to figure out
(11:50):
a way to get in the end zone.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
And you know, they found it here.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Trevor's legs are a weapon as long as they're not overused, and.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
I thought they used him in the right spot here.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
I'm not sure how much he wants to run after
the injuries the last couple of years. I mean, listen,
I'm not sure how much they want him right well,
not too much, but the threat of him running changed
the way that the Raiders approached him the rest of
the way. The threat of him getting out of the
pocket and going so four or five times a game
in a very controlled setting right as best you can
(12:25):
let him loose and let him go because just the
threat of that six foot six frame it's moving towards
the goal line. You could tell that it made a difference.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
And important to note there is what we're both saying.
I get emails all the time, why doesn't he run more?
Because he finished the last two seasons, you know, carrying
him right away. He's not a running quarterback that you
build that around, but he does need the threat of.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Well well, and you just look at Lamar Jackson right
who has had the hamstring injury. He's a guy who
can move and get out, but doesn't want to. He
wants to stay in the pocket as much as possible
because he understands the beating that you take when you're
in the open field, it's not going to be sustainable
for the long term.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
I think Trevor did a really good job of running
just enough without taking it out of the game plan
where he just felt like he had to run every time,
So he did a good job. Let's take a look
at rock Bauer's second touchdown on the day. He had
three on the day. He is tremendous. We saw it
last year when they played this team, but he had
them and fits on defense trying to cover him every day.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
I'm not sure that there's anybody that could cover him.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
I mean on that play, some of the other ones,
or that was special that I'm not sure anybody in
league stops that point.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
No, but listen his size, his length, his quickness, the
way that he drops his hips and pivots like a
wide receiver. I mean, for such a big guy, he's
a tough matchup. I mean, think about anybody in the league.
You go, oh, we'll put him on him. I mean,
if you had Travis Hunter, I think you would have tried.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Yeah, this is a young athlete who's in his prime.
Kelsey gets open by savvy by knowing had to find zones, etc.
This kid is like guy came down and said, you're
gonna be a tight end.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
Well, he has that little savvy sense about him like
Travis Kelsey does.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
So he is.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
He is tremendous and he's gonna get his Yeah, if
he can stay healthy.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
He's going to be absolutely up there in the record books.
I am sure. Let's look at some of this overtime action.
Austin Trammell who got called up from the practice squad
with a kick return putting them in good position in
ot And you know, I think we all have some
flashbacks of tramble kick return last year when they called
him up. But he rose to the moment in this
in this moment here.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Yeah, I don't know Austin very well, but or at all.
I was happy for him because it's just what he said.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Guy.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Last year he had the most circumstantially weird season fas
we have one play fumble, right, so to continue to grind,
he probably earned a chance to make the team during
training camp.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
He played that well and it's been a different direction.
So good for him.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
And one of the it is hidden plays Brian that
you don't think about necessari at the end of the season.
Speaker 4 (15:03):
But I'm not say they win that game without this playoff,
Oh no, I.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
Don't think they do. And he is a guy that
you're always thinking, well, we're replacing he's undrafted, he landed
on your team as a free agent. Every year he's
on your practice squad, but I think he keeps earning
more and more looks. And the punt return in Philadelphia
was unfortunate. He more than made up for it here.
And I'm telling you now he's going to have to
play a role as a wide receiver the next couple
(15:28):
of weeks with the Jaguars as beat up with Diammy
Brown and Brian Thomas Junior at Travis hunter On is
your reserve. And I'm gonna say it right now, I
think he is going to make more plays with the.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Way the league structure now. I always say during August,
every ask him what's going to be the fifty three?
I said, you can't think of it as a fifty
three anymore. You have a sixteen player practice squad, and
the reality is to function in the NFL right now,
you've got to have guys on your practice squad like
him waiting who are really part of your team.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
So it's really a sixty He won sixty two man
roster these days.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
He may not have blazing speed, but if you watch him,
he is really athletic. He can change directions on a dime.
He's got suddenness about him, He's crafty, he's a Wes
Welker kind of guy, and perhaps they can find a
role for him going forward.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Let's take a look at these final two plays of
the game, because right down to the wire, as they do,
the Raiders have an opportunity. They find brock Bowers again
for the third time of the day, in the back
of the end zone and they're going for two. And
I thank them for that because I didn't want to
tie myself so eat away. It was going to be
some sort of outcome to this game. And then Gino Smith,
who had time the locket open, doesn't get it to
(16:39):
him because Von Hamilton's big mits were up there and
knock the ball down.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
I'm just gonna say, in hot takes coming up, I
point to the fact that on those two plays that
you just talked about, the touchdown and the two point conversion,
they went right towards the safety open. Yeah, they had
people open, and they went right at the Jaguar cities.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
So now he get a break, and so we talked
about that a little bit.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
I'll go a different direction here, not to be boring,
but really impressive in overtime, eight straight runs to get
in the end zone.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
I thought it was really impressive how.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
They figured out with the receivers out how they had
to win this game, and they stuck with the run enough.
I think what we saw in overtime offensively, if they
can get through the next couple of weeks, I think
that's how they're going to do it. With all the injuries,
they may have found a key to trying to navigate
this next stretch.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
We talked last week in the locker room with the
players about toughness, about returning to that physical style of
play that they had early. Did that drive convince you
that they have rediscovered the style of play that they
had early that helped them get to form one.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Well, I think that's what they want to be I
think with this team right now my senses. I don't
know if everybody says, well, if they did that, wasn't
you Why don't they just do that the whole game?
Speaker 4 (17:55):
I think that's difficult because you've.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Got to wear teams down and get to where you
can do that. Uh, But I think they'll game plan
to try to get to that point where they can.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Use that late in the game. It'll be interesting to
see the creatients and diligence.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Yeah, it's It's be interesting this week guy, to see
if they can do it against an excellent defense in Houston,
one of the very best in the league with Ezra
Cleveland on the injury report.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Yeah, it's a tougher.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
Task and a team that knows you very well in
the division with the Texans. Stay with us after the break,
we'll tell you our hot takes from from this week.
Jagg xam brought to you by Firehouse Subs and also
bringing hot takes today as well.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Uh, which we got tired of being myselves, I guess. Uh,
we just locked into the game.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
You know, we got locked on it earlier.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
Uh be better than the.
Speaker 7 (18:44):
Residents, especially earlier in the game, even when you put.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Ourselves in those positions late in the game. But just
probably the way that we caught where we responded and
when we came.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
On the second half so easy and played well as
uh setting up that touchdown and overtime and just overall
some big plays throughout the game and consistent, which is
nice to see when they get him involved a little
bit more.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Yeah, and I'll go first on the hot takes because
I can sort of work Travis into this. Who I thought,
by the way, I know he's had bigger yardage games.
I don't know what his future with the team is,
contract whatever. When he leaves here, I'll think of this
game with him because he was a different I don't
think he would have had this game as first year playing.
(19:25):
He was knocking off guys. He was playing as tough
and physical. He was playing like a fullback, which I
was remarkable. So my take is, embrace these cats, and
I think Travis are gonna be a big part of this.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
I don't think they're gonna be pretty certainly with the
injuries the.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Next few weeks, I think they're going to have to
sort of walk wounded through this thing, play some games
like they did the other day. I think if you
can get through this next stretch sort of keeping your
head above water, I think you're in good shape for
the end of the season.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
But I think they could give you some great memories
this year with possible postseason run. You're not gonna love
it every week.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
You're gonna be frustrated if you're a fan thinking is
Lea's supposed to be about seventeen point blowouts. But I
think they're gonna be a team that you can kind
of hug at the end of the season and go guys,
that was fun.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
So what team does that remind you of Jaguars history?
The great ninety six team that there was four and
seven and they won by bouncing the ball off the
uprights and crazy things like that and a missed field
goal by Morton Anderson. And it's just it's the most
fun season in Jaguars history. And so if what you
say is true, then buckle up because it could be
(20:42):
a great ride.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
Yeah, because again, the inbox is amazing.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
It was.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
It was just chaos in the first half and even
after the game, you know they're frustrating guys. This is
the NFL, I mean frustrating wins or how you get
into the postseason.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
And it was a fun win. I mean it was
ugly as it may have seen. By the way Etn
I think has reinvented himself this year. Yeah, underneath Liam
Cohen and the way I wouldn't have I wouldn't seen
him with the tough running between the tackles. We didn't
see it last year. So credit to him. He's as
fun a player as there is to watch it right now.
(21:25):
He's your best player on offense.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Yeah, I mean the stat is what yack yards after contact.
His is like yeaf yards after violent contact because he
I mean he was getting hit hard and still getting yaft.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Yards in earlier career.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
He put on the sideline next generation.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Yes, you were saying earlier how smart you are?
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Well, well, I don't need to say. People know.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
People know I'm gonna go next because this leads into
what my hot take is. John, thank you for setting
up how wonderful Etn played, because mine has run the
damn ball. We talked every week about how we want
the wide receivers to get involved. We thought was this
team was going to be in the preseason and what
they look like right now. Iam Cullen came in here
and said, we need to establish the run if we
(22:07):
want to do anything on offense. That is how they
win football games. That's just their identity at this point.
That's the way it's going to be and they need
to do that. And that includes Trevor Lawrence running a
little bit, which we think. I think he did the
best version of that against the Raiders where he ran
just enough, but he still was focused on throwing the football.
Travis Etn is having a renaissance. Toot and when he
(22:28):
gets the ball, I think he can be good as well.
And then also the Quinn Allen is out there. I
just get the running backs involved as much as you
possibly can. That's the recipe at this point.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Man, You're going to love Sunday then, because with as
many receivers as are banged up in that great pass
rush that Houston has with Will Anderson and Daniel Hunter,
you better be able to run the ball this week
and run it and run it and run it. You
have got to use the run to set up any
sort of passing game that you expect to have.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Yeah, it's funny. I saw that graphic. I'm thinking if
Liam says that he's going to be like, I get it,
I mean I'm trying to run the ball. And by that,
I mean it's hard in this league right now to
come out the way this offense is structured and just
run eight straight plays at the beginning of the game.
You have to get to it. You have to stay
(23:14):
with it while you're trying other things. Keep sort of punching.
It's almost like you're doing this and you kind of
going this underneath and get to it. In the second half.
This team needs to stay close enough and establish it
in the first half where they can have the wear
down effect that they had the other day, because that's
exactly how they want to do. They would have loved
to have done that against Seattle and especially the Rams,
(23:35):
but you can't do it when you're down fourteen twenty
one to seven. So they need the circumstances to allow
them to run the damn ball.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
I'll finish it up then with better safety than sorry.
As we sit here right now, Tony Piselli, James Gladstone,
Lie and Cohen are engaged with the trade market. They
are investigating. Who knows whether they will find because it
takes two sides to make a deal and it has
to be a good one. But listen, you saw those
two plays at the end of overtime. They went right
(24:04):
at Dewey, they went right at Antonio Johnson. The safeties
that the Jaguars and Visions starting the season with aren't injured.
Reserve tayleab brand'sa always supposed to be on the field,
same with Eric Murray, and they're playing with two guys
that they would rather have coming in in situations. I
don't know who the right guy is. I mean, micka
Fin Patrick. His name has been floated out of Miami.
I don't know who fits the scheme that Anthony Campanelli
(24:26):
wants to run. I don't know who makes sense from
a salary perspective. But you can talk about tight end,
you can talk about wide receiver, you can talk about
defensive tackle all you want. I think the most glaring
issue the Jaguars face as we sit here right now
with the trade deadline coming up at four o'clock Eastern time,
is a safety. Maybe it's post traumatic stress from last
(24:47):
season where they gave up all those big plays. But
I'm telling you, and you see this for yourself. They're
attacking the Jaguars safeties. They need help, better safety than sorry.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
Hope help is coming. I don't know for this.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Yeah, we'll see. I mean it's it can be tricky.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
And if they can't get that, then they got to
get more pass rush because you can't have time to
attack those guys.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
All right, Trade deadlines at four will have updates on
that for you tomorrow. But stay with us here we'll
tell you what's coming up the rest of the week.
Jaggs fans, you're invited to the official dou Baal watch party.

com Slash watch party.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
God real quick.
Speaker 8 (25:43):
Okay, so many dudes stepped up today. So many guys
stepped up today. Unbelievable job Devon Hamilton, end the game,
tig down and tie in the Franchi. How about our
(26:05):
quarterback man online running unbelievable. Hey, that's the NFL football win.
That's called responding.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
It's an NFL football win. And I will say that's
the cleanest version of that we've ever seen those. And
he's all us, guess we'll harm but there we go.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
I think he was too tired.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Yeah, I think they've got You think about coaches with tenure,
I mean, I think they've got there, Mike Tomlin, I
think they've got their John Harbaugh. I mean Bill Cower.
You know, you think of those guys who are in
one place for a long period of time. And it's
hard to watch his team, which is five and three
after eight games, right, but also to listen to him
and to see the way that he connects personally with
(26:55):
these guys and the way they responding him and not
think he's going to be your while and he's going
to be that guy that they've been hoping to have
here gosh forever.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Yeah, I think people, you know, you have so many
people who analyze the NFL, and they talk about play
calling and x'es and o's and personnel and it all matters.
But the one overlooked thing I think sometimes is belief
in direction of the franchise. Where you don't have guys going, hey,
this shouldn't be going this year, right, everybody believes this
is the direction. When you're pulling together and everybody believes
(27:30):
in it, it makes a lot of difference.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
In close games, and it's hard to find that guy,
you know, that fits the city and the owner and
all of that, as evidenced by the fact that since
Tom Kauflin, I mean, they've gone through, you know, six
other coaches and they finally, you know, the eighth version
of Jaguars head coach turns out to be that guy
good for good for con and what he did to
(27:53):
pull the thing back from the edge last year and
to make the changes pretty good fit.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
As we mentioned, it's the try a deadline today, so
we'll have the details for you tomorrow morning if anything
goes down at all with that, and we'll be back
here on Jack's Am. We'll see then
