Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome to jag Zlon this morning, Kennanti, see me here
with you, Brian Sex and John Osier as well.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
And it's victory week.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
It's Victory Tuesday, so we're stretched it out through the
week this week. After a improbable, very bizarre, kind of
weird win over the Cardinals on Sunday in Arizona, let's
get into our big Things today, brought to you by
g e H Government Eployees Health Association benefits for federal
employees and retirees. Big thing Number one is sorry, not sorry.
Liam Cullen after the game said he's not gonna apologize

(00:42):
for HOWISTEAM wins.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
We're not gonna apologize for winning around here, you know.
I mean, that's just not anything we're gonna do. Being
three and zero on the West Coast, you know, it
was one of those games that you felt like, all right,
we had explosive runs, then we had two yard runs,
you know, and then we had big passes, and then
we have It was just one of those games that
you felt like when every time you kind of get

(01:04):
momentum going opposite, maybe the first drive, you know, whether
it was getting off schedule, they were doing some things
in the third douns that was giving us some problems
early on from a protection scheme standpoint that we needed
to clean up. We did clean that up. So yeah,
I mean, you always feel multiple emotions after a game,

(01:25):
but winning is what matters.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Brian's of your favorite line. I'm not gonna apologize for
winning around here. It was ugly.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
It probably gave a lot of people a spike in
blood pressure, but they got it done.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
At the end of the day, it's not I gotta
believe that most people who are watching us, who are
reading the website, who are following the Jaguars, do not
care as long as the team wins.

Speaker 5 (01:45):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
They don't want the quarterback to have a bad day
and throw three interceptions. But listen, you went from a
game that was over in the third quarter against the
Chargers to one that went to overtime. It was thrilling.
It was my heart was beating out of my chest
at the end of the game. I enjoyed it immensely.
Does that mean that I want every game to be
like that? No, But John, it's a one score league
and that's what the NFL's built, and so you better

(02:08):
just get used to it. But I do love the
idea that Liam Cowen told his team forget even worrying
about the style points thing.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Man, move on, I'm gonna wait until the camp apologize.
What are you talking about me? It's this team was
four and thirteen last year. Nobody expected seven and four.
I didn't expect seven four. I thought this was an
eight to nine win team struggle to get there. Are
the Eagles apologizing for losing a twenty one point lead.

(02:35):
I mean, and I'm not, you know, down on the Eagles.
The Bills are six and five. I thought they were
going to the super Bowl. There's a couple of teams
that blow people out in this league right now, the
Rams and the Seahawks. Beyond that, show me the list.
I mean, the Jaguars are seven and four. You win.
They're figuring out a way to win close games. This

(02:56):
is a good team, and these games happened. The Broncos
are on the top of my Power Bowl. They beat
the Raiders ten to seven on a Thursday night two
weeks ago. When the guest games you'll ever see. I'm
not apologizing anybody around here. I never do, but especially now.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
No apologies, none of them all right. Big thing number
two is growing pains. We talk a little bit about this.
You know, it is a transition here in the end
of the day and they're trying to figure things out
with new coaching and with new players.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
But Trevor Lawrence had a tough day.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Three turnover, three interceptions, four turnovers in the game.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
But he talked about not playing scared.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
I gotta be start with the ball. Obviously, we had
four turnovers and they were all on me. So I
own that, and I got I gotta do my job
and take care of the ball and not put our
defense in tough spots.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Totally get that.

Speaker 6 (03:36):
But I'm never gonna never gonna play scared. I'm gonna
continue to let it rip. And I think that's why
you know we have a chance at the end of
the day is because you keep playing. So never gonna
apologize for that, but I will say, cannot turn the
ball over four time. So I own that, and no,
I gotta clean that up. But I'll watch it and
see what it was.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Look, No, John, go ahead, because there's a lot.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
There's a lot when.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
You let it rip, especially when you're first art and
to let it rip as soon as you're going to
a couple of picks, but look, one of them was tipped.
The Klays Campbell pass was tipped, the interception in the
end zone, the fumble, I get it, but you're also
waiting for a guy a Claire. I don't know that
this was a tragic game for Trevor Lawrence our statistics

(04:20):
because it added up to the rest of the season.
But I credit Liam Cone for this. Brian after the game,
I mean, I guess it was on Monday, he said, hat,
I never lost confidence in it. He told him a
couple weeks ago to let it rip. If he had
come to the sidelines say man, what are you doing.
I'm sure Trevor said, Hey, told me to let it rip.
So they're on the same page as my point. And look,

(04:42):
Trevor Lawrence had three touchdown drives and played really well
in crunch time. Maybe that's what he is.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Called the Trevor Lawrence experience. And listen, I for one,
came out of the game encouraged by the way that
he responded after the third interception in the third quarter
in the second half, right, and he comes down and
he's four or four for fifty nine yards. He ripped
a couple of beautiful passes and threw that touchdown pass.

(05:09):
If you haven't seen the end zone angle of that,
you need to go watch it. You put the ball
where only Parker Washington you can go get it, and
he did. And I loved his answer there Kai. I mean, listen,
I'd like to see him really attack the camera like
you know with that answer, you know, to give you
that really powerful personality. It's not him, but the words
that he spoke were very important there at the end,

(05:30):
and it's something that I have been looking for from him.
I was encouraged to forget the numbers. The numbers are
what the numbers are. I'm going to go into this
a little bit more in hot take, so I'll shut
up and let you go on. But I the people
who look at this league and they just look at scores,
and they just read a headline and read the first sentence.
Trevor Lawrence threw three interceptions and lost a fumble that

(05:51):
was returned for a touchdown. Don't see the whole picture.
It was better than people gave the credit for.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
And sometimes this is what happens when you let it rip.
Well do a final big thing, which is weakness to strength.
We talked a lot after that loss to the Texans.
How the defense kind of let that one go and
that was that was really a weakness for them that day.
The defense was the strength yesterday Sunday, excuse me, and
they have been the past two weeks and what they've
changed from the past rush has been great.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Those guys, we had to use a lot of them
in terms of, you know, knowing that they were going
to chuck it a good amount of times in this game.
We used a lot of guys in different positions. We
had a few substitution errors because of that. Danny kind
of got nicked and we were trying to put some
different guys in some different spots to give us some

(06:38):
more rush. But you know, they ran it for what
fifty five yards again, and we knew they were going
to want to come out and chuck in. We had
to impact them and influence the rush, which we did
in a lot of ways.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Brian the defense against the Cardinals six stacks, eleven tackles
for lost, fifteen quarterback hits and don't look now, the
best RUNSOFF team in the league right now, Let's.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Go listen coaching and culture in that answer right there,
the coach got after his defensive line the week of
that Texans loss. He was very animated, I'm told, and
they all took it to heart and they heard the
noise on the outside. Maybe this group isn't as good.
Josh heinz Allen has the record, but maybe he's not
that guy tray Von who didn't play last week in

(07:24):
that big day. So think about how big it could
have been. And Eric Armstead right, remember in training camp
when it was where's Eric arms dead? He's just a bed.
He doesn't want to practice. People didn't understand the behind
the scenes that Eric was pushing himself to get ready
to play, the extraordinary measures that he went to to
get ready to play, and here he is impacting the
game in November. They heard the noise, they responded to it. Now,

(07:48):
same thing with the quarterback. You need him to play consistently.
You need this group to show up every week and
play like that. The Rams front does, the Seahawks front does,
the Texans, and the Broncos front does. If the Jaguars
group does, Hey, this is gonna be a lot of
fun the last six weeks.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
Yeah, I thought the other day Josh Heinzellen had like
nine pressures. But and you know in the Ozone mail
bag that I do. Everybody's always asking why didn't Josh
have more sacks? And for Josh, those pressures the other
day came as part of a huge team rush. Uh
he had one early that led to a Devon Hamilton sack.

(08:24):
He knows if he's getting pressure, it helps everybody, it
helps the rush as a whole. I thought they rushed
as a team the other day very very well, which
I'm not sure they did do against the Texans when
things broke down, So I think they're back to that,
and uh, yeah, it's it's a it's a significant turnaround
because they took advantage of another team's weakness and made
it their own strength that day. And boy, what a

(08:47):
neat thing it is to watch this team sort of
find guys and I'm referring to bj Green and Danny
Strigo and they're finding themselves in this year of transition
and they're finding some pieces to build on going forward.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Teamwork makes the dream work. Stay with us here on
Jack Zam. We're going to go over all the highlights
for you from Sunday.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
You know, I think just the belief we have in
our team in the locker room, and like I said,
I think we've grown from some of the tough losses too.
Over the season. You know, we've had some tough losses too,
you know. You know, like you said, we've won a
lot of the close ones, but we've also had some
close losses. So I think you learn from it, and
you learn that in the NFL every week it's a
week to week league. You got a week to week league,

(09:34):
and you got to play well and then all these
games are going to be close, so you just got
to find a way to finish. So it doesn't matter
what happened the first three quarters of the game. You
just got to find a way to win it in
the fourth. And I think we're learning that and we're
doing a good job of that, and we just got
to keep.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
Doing it well.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
It was entertaining and they won.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
I think I looked over John at a certain point and
when we had to overtime.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
I was like, this is just stupid, so silly. And
they won. So I can laugh about it now. But
the point is this time last.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Year, we would to beg for games like this, and
I'm very thankful.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
It's interesting that people are banging on the Jaguars about this.
But you know, the Colts lost in overtime. They blew
an eleven point fourth quarter lead. And I look at
the power rankings just for entertainment value, but most people
have them still among the top six or seven teams
in the league instead of dropping and plummeting them. Oh
my gosh, we're worried about the Colts and are they
who we think we are? Well, I mean, they blew
it and Kansas City is not Kansas City, and yet

(10:28):
you know, nobody is pointing to them and going, well,
they're not as good as we think they are. Right,
this is what the NFL it is.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
I mean, it's like I said, my little you know,
ran to the top of the show. The Rams are
really good.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
They're excellent.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
The Seahawks are really good, and I think the Broncos
are pretty good.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Everybody else after.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
That, I mean there's four or five teams. I think
you could throw the Eagles in that group.

Speaker 5 (10:51):
Yeah, he was lost twenty one point lead.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
Well, listen, they're imperfect too.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
No, no, And my point is I think he was
my win the Super Bowl. It's a great franchise and
to do it occasionally you lose leads and.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
It happens up at the Bills. At one point we
had the Bills it is the best team because the
quarterback was playing his best and that defense was unbeatable,
and then.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
They so might win the Super Bowl. Yeah, but they're
six and five or seven.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
You know what professional football as opposed to college football,
you you know, it's it's a very You don't have
fifty five to seven, is it not?

Speaker 5 (11:24):
The SEC is good?

Speaker 1 (11:25):
All right, let's look back at some of these highlights
from Sunday. So I'll start out early. Finally get Brenton
Strange back on the field, and he had an impact,
you know, right out of the gate to see him
get this huge play offf the top. He was impactful
throughout the game, but it was just nice to see
him back on the field. And then we also saw
Travis Etn get involved early, which for me, I always
feel like this team has the best chance of winning

(11:46):
when they get the run game going early and then
they can kind of play from ahead. Travis Etn, continuing
to have a tremendous season, caps off this run with
a touchdown, and John felt early like they had things going.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
A little bit absolutely of things going, and then when
you give up points when you're on offense, that's always
it's rare to have that happen and have a blowout, right,
So I thought early and really the whole game, I'm
going to say, except for Trevor's interceptions because that's sort
of part of the game. But they move the ball

(12:20):
really well, and I think if you ask them, they
should and probably do still feel really good about where
they are offensively. And I think key going forward is
how does betj fit and can you give him some
explosiveness because right now they're going pretty well.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
We spent so much time talking about the defensive line
and all the hits and all the quarterback hurries and
the sacks. The offensive line played very well the other day, too,
Plenty of time for Trevor to throw, plenty of holes
for the Runners to find. That's not a bad defensive front.
And obviously Kalays Campbell tipped one of those balls for
an interception and the safety got around Brenton Strange. But

(12:57):
I think the offensive line has responded to that bad
game in Houston with two really good games as well,
which is a great sign going forward because they've played
without Ezra, they played without Anton Harrison, without two starters,
so it's good to see that group stepping up as well.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Let's take a look at that fumble recovery kind of
play there. I don't know if you'll fully know what
there's clearly a miss assignment somewhere on this and Trevor
doesn't see the guy coming and then.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Pick I guess is what.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
You want to call it. I know it's a fumble,
but just to pick the ball out of the air
and kind of run it in. We always want a
big man touchdown.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
I'll give them credit for that whenever they can be
a little athletic. But that was a tough one.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Yeah, and Luckie bounce.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
It's such a huge momentum game. You felt at that
point the defense have got him on the field a
couple of times, and you felt like the offense was
going if you could get a ten point lead early
with a team that was struggling, you kept feeling early like, oh,
they're dominating it. And then this happens, like, Okay, buckle up,
because I said earlier, when you give up points when

(13:57):
you're on offense. The way this leagu's built right now,
it's really hard to go flow a team out once
you've given up that sort of field position momentum early that.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Hit, and there was a later hit by Buddha Baker
who had a sack which was really well disguised. Then
sometimes they get home on the Blitzer's I'm not sure
whether the blame or the truth of the matter goes
to Breton Strange for not holding it a little longer,
or for Trevor not feeling it, for seeing that that's
not getting away and realizing he has to find someone else.
It's probably a little bit of both.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
And you can see Breton sort of released and he
tries to be the hot Yeah, it happens.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
So you look at one of Parker's returns on the day.
I mean, we know what he can do in special
teams and how it sets things up, but he kind
of switches.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
The field a little bit.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Here, goes all the way back across, find some space,
and then it's set up a really nice drive with
Jacoby Myers getting involved.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
I mean, we know how.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Clearly Trevor trusts Jacoby Myers already at this point, and
we know what Parker can do on special teams, but
this is to me how they set themselves up for
success getting a short field for Trevor and then when
he does throw it, finding the targets that he trusts
the most when.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
He needs to.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Can you imagine where they'd be without Parker Washington. I
can make the case right now he is the most
valuable player at this point of the season. Consistently he
has been the guy that has provided you with game
changing plays that have either scored touchdowns or set up
others to score touchdowns, or made important catches in the
back of the end zone at a moment where you're
trailing in a ball game that you absolutely need to win.

(15:27):
Without Parker Washington, this team is not seven and four.
I think he's your MVP right now.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
Yeah, he's become a remarkably good player that makes plays consistently.
I tweeted when on the return, I said, just put
him in the Pro Bowl as returns. That can be
a Pro Bowl as a receiver. But if he's not
a Pro Bowl special teams player, I'd like to see
the player who has made more important moments for his

(15:55):
team on special teams in Parker Washington.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
You'll see the guy this Sunday that probably is the
the biggest contender. The rookie from Florida who is playing
in Nashville. Yeah, yeah, he's a pretty good player too,
but his team is what one and nine? So I
think you can easily make the case that Parker Washington
is the more impactful special teams player.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Let's take a look.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
We're not gonna look at all of them, But how
about Trevor's third interception, because that's the one that led
to the Cardinals getting points off of it, And I
mean John is just part of the letting a.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Rip at this point.

Speaker 5 (16:25):
Well, it was. It was a really big time to
play sometimes, you know, Covery Peyton Manning for ten years,
he threw some interceptions and he threw some bad ones
at times, so sometimes it happens. You know, that was
a big time play by a big time player. I
thought the earlier interception one the linebacker got, I think

(16:49):
it was a linebacker on the third quarter was probably
a worst pass than that. Yeah, it's going to happen
some and I'll go back to the top, Brian. I
think it's significant that Trevor used the phrase after the game,
let it rip that Liam so strongly and I think heartfelt.
Le on Monday said, hey, I never gave up confidence

(17:11):
on what the passing game was doing. It's a little
bit of a signal for hey, this is this is
what it's gonna be guys. You know, and I've gotten
some comparisons in the last couple of days. Is he
becoming Brett fav in his prime? Which again gunslinger picks
And I don't know if that's exactly right, but I'm

(17:31):
not sure it's exactly wrong.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Well, I got a name for you, and I'll share
it with you in hot takes. Yeah, I know another
quarterback to what to make a comparison in terms of
slinging the ball around. Listen, he let it rip. Budda
Baker is a Pro Bowl probably an All Pro caunumber safety.
He made a great play. But here's the more important thing,
and I'm sure we're gonna see the highlights. He let
it rip the rest of the game, and on the
next drive he was four to four for sixty yards

(17:55):
right or for fifty nine of the sixty yards. And
then in overtime he let it rip to Parker, Washington
and on the first playoff overtime for twenty five yards.
It's the way it goes in the National Football League.
He's gonna make some bad throws. I think you made
the point. The one of the linebacker was the one
that you point to and say, well, that one, absolutely,
you can't make that one. Budda Baker made a great
play on the ball.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Yeah, and credit the defense for also when they did
have the turnovers other than that one interception. Exactly. That's
great to see. We love complimentary football around here. Let's
take a look at that Parker Washington touchdown because that
was one of the throws from Trevor Lawrence that you
do want to see and when you needed it at
that point in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
Just shape it. I mean, just the end zone view
of this. I saw it on X A guy took
it from his camera and it's just the ball just
it's like a curve ball, you know, coming from a pitcher.
And the relationship that Parker Washington's sixth round pick has
formed with the starting quarterback out of necessity because you

(18:54):
haven't had BTJ all season long, and you missed Diammie
Brown at some point in time, he has become the
quarterbacks go to guys.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
Well big time. Trust there, known he's going to go
make a play. That's only going to get better. I
talked about Parker earlier, so I'll sort of veer from
this a second. Jacoby Myers and Parker Washington, I think
are giving him two reliable receivers. A lot of credit
to Jacobe on that highlight that we miss coming back
for the ball on that red zone catch and then

(19:23):
having a big time catching the end zone. Parker Washington
and Jacoby Myers, this team has created a wide receiver
corps that nobody thought would be the wide receiver corps
in August on the fly, and I think it's really impressive.

Speaker 4 (19:39):
They remind you of Marvin Harrison and Jay Jones and
Christian Kirk, who were the three guys in twenty twenty
two when he erupted, when Trevor broke out, they were
always where they were supposed to be, and he could
almost without looking turned and throw the ball to a
spot and know they were going to get it.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
And now guys, he's got three. Brenton Strange also he's
also got Travis y team in the passing game. To
be an efficient big time offense, you need four guys
you can beat double teams. Well, we'll see if Brian
Thomas Junior fits into that when he comes back. But
they're starting to get a receiver corp he can trust.

(20:17):
That's really important.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
All right, let's see this Jags failed fourth down. I'm
sure Pete had a lot to say about it on
a happy hour last night because they chose not to
feel goals and went for it, which.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
I was fine with. I know everyone wants to fill
my opinion.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I was fine that maybe the play could we run it?
Is that a possibility?

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Yeah? I mean the best plays in the NFL are
the ones that work, So yeah, you could have run it.
I don't know if they're a smashed mouth running team yet.
Look I said with Doug when he was here, Honestly,
these guys are going to go for it on fourth

(20:56):
and one. The philosophy is we have it in our
hands to end the game, as opposed to giving it
to the other team when your defense is tired. Analytics
show that's what you do now, well us, Yeah, old school.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
Guy kicking fever.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
Well, it's not an old school league anymore.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
I'm a little new school on this one too, because
when you consider that you're kicking off right and they're
probably going to get it between the thirty and the
thirty five unless something catastrophic happens and they return it.
Even more than that, I think it makes sense if
you've got them in that spot in the field, you know,
get the first down and end the game and keep
them deep. Yes, the play didn't work, but they were

(21:36):
looking at Brenton Strange and the Cardinals covered it.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
There as an element of this, and Liam touched on it,
and I think it's important to remember they're just getting
this thing going. I think this regime is going to
be here for fifty games. I think I think Leams
will be that kind of a coach right now. They're
trying to establish this is what we do here, we
go to end the game in this situation, and I

(21:59):
think he may mention that after the game of there's
the kind of team we're going to be.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
Well, you've been consistently did that in Week two in Cincinnati.
It didn't work out, but the play they called was
right right and Brian Thomas Junior just simply dropped the
ball that day. Who can forget that game. I'm with you.
I think this is the Daguars, Mike Tumlin, this is
the Draguars, John Harbaugh. They've got their coach, they've got
their regime and seven to four is phenomenal. In year one,

(22:25):
the most important element of this year was about building
it the right way, putting a foundation and the culture
in place. It's in place to do.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
There's a philosophy there. If we have fourth and one
in this situation ten times over the course of the season,
doing it this way is going to get us more
wins than doing it the other way. So there's and
I think they believe if you go forward on fourth
and one in that situation, try to end the game,
you're going to succeed more often than not.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
And I will say I feel like the offense on
the other team plays differently when they're going for potentially
either a game time so huge or our touchdown because
they go about it differently as well. It's still the
final play of the game, because I want to give
some credit to the secondary. I know we are going on,
but I've been ragging on them a little bit. How
about Christian Braswell, I mean, coming in played a good
chunk of this game. They really didn't play much of

(23:14):
Greg Newsom. They had Braswell out there and makes play a.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
Band well and listen, he gave up the big play
that set up the game field goals. So for him
then to come back and be in a position to
make the play. Good on him to learn from the
mistake and to be in the right spot instead of
biting on the double move.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
Yeah, you hold your breath on this kind of play
because it could have been called DPI. Yep, shouldn't have
been called DPI in my opinion. But any time in
this league now where a defender makes a play on
the ball with the receiver around, you hold your breath.
I thought it was the right call because I didn't
really believe that the Cardinals should have benefited from sort

(23:53):
of a hail Mary there. It probably could have gone
either way. Great play by braswell and credit to do
too for getting over and it was that's the way
that past should be called. Too often in the league.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
You get a flat all right, says we'll give you
our hot takes when we come back out for the break.
Jag XAM Hot takes brought to you today by Bye
House Ups.

Speaker 7 (24:24):
I want to execute when my number is called. I
want to make the plays that come to me. I'm
not reaching for anything. There was no I need to
do anything because I'm in Arizona or anything like that.

Speaker 5 (24:34):
I just tried to keep my composure.

Speaker 7 (24:36):
Heath did a great job and I'm gonna help it.
Keep me calm before the game and everything. He's like,
I've been there, amped out. It's not the way to go,
bro Let me let me just keep you calm and collected.
And I appreciate him for that.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Let you do our hot taste. That was Heith Farwell
keeping him in check. Gardick had today. But Brian, who
was fun? Brian, tell us what your hot take is today?

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Grevor will be just fine.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Now.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
A couple of reasons why I say that. A. I
was encouraged by the six play sixty yard drive and
how he responded after he threw that third interception that
Buddha Baker made the play on the ball. And John,
how many times have we seen this Jaguars team bumping
along the bottom and you just figure out, here's going
to be a three and out because you know they
are not playing well. And I was looking at Trevor

(25:22):
in particular and the way he was reacting on the sideline,
and I told you I like guys who bring energy,
who play with a little bit of anger, and that's
just not him, but you could just see the way
he was nodding his head and looking at talking to
people that he was up for the challenge and he was.
So I come out of this thinking, all right. He
didn't play his best game though he did throw three touchdowns,
and a couple of those throws were sensational. The one

(25:44):
to Parker we didn't show it, but the one that
Jacoby Myers caught in the end zone. So you got
this inconsistency, this up and down. It's the first year
that he's here in this program working with him. He's
going to be fine out Fine might be all he
ever is. That's going to be a to him. That's
going to be up to the way that he improves.
But I think I'll give you the name. In his

(26:06):
fifth season, Matthew Stafford through nineteen interceptions his fifth year
with the Detroit Lions, number one overall pick in two
thousand and nine. He had some winning seasons with the Lions,
but he never took them to the Promised Land, despite
the fact that he had Calvin Johnson.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
As his receiver.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Right, he had some Hall of famers. We'll look at
him now in his fifteenth season, he's an MVP candidate,
and he's playing ridiculous thirty touchdowns and two interceptions. I
am not saying that that is the trajectory that Trevor
will be on. I'm just saying that sometimes it takes
a little bit longer, and I feel good after watching
him respond and in overtime. I think he's going to

(26:44):
be just fine. I personally think that, and I am
not worried about him. Do I want to see better play, Absolutely?
Do I think we're going to see more three interception games? Well,
hopefully not this year, but in the future. Yeah, probably,
I think it'd be fine.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
Look, get the joke this week is the Trevor Lawrence
experience and I get killed all the time. Are you
defending Dragon?

Speaker 4 (27:06):
I am, by the way, and keeps you wondering.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
Since twoenty twenty two? Was that Doug's first year? Yeah,
twenty two. I believe last season is a lost season.
I never thought that Trevor really got anything going. The
team didn't get anything going beyond that. When Trevor's been
healthy for a functioning team, which was a functional team
in twenty two to twenty three. In this year, they're

(27:29):
like twenty one and eight with him. When he's been healthy.
At the end of twenty three, it was a disaster
because the hell and I'm not saying you can take
out the other stuff. My point is, as soon as
you criticize and figure out history shows that you can
win with them, and they're winning with him right now
no matter what us is going on. So that's where again,

(27:52):
I don't know what the end game is going to be,
but you have to bring that into the conversation. If
you're going to talk about Trevor Larrence is.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
In the guy in Seattle. Darnold is also considered an
MVP candidate this year. He's on his fifteen in his
eighth season, and he was the fourth overall pick of
that twenty eighteen draft. These guys evolve over time.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Yeah, so this is sort of endto mind.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
You know, we're way out of time.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
Stop worrying. It could apply to Traver, it could apply
the whole team. Stop worrying about what they're not for
right now. I mean, there's plenty that they're gonna have
to do in the off season. I think there's still
pieces they got to put in place. It's not a
mature roster, But in the context of this, you're seven
and four. You're winning games. It's fun. I'm having fun.
You guys having fun. So you know during after wins,

(28:42):
you know I'm getting these emails. Well, they stink at Disney,
stink at Thisney, think of this. This is the NFL.
They're seven and fourth. Stop worrying about what they're not,
enjoy what they are for now, and then they'll work
to get some stuff fixed in the off season. I
think they have flaws. They have flaws that are probably
gonna be the reason they're not holding a trophy at
the end. But they also have a lot of strengths
that are making this fun and that you can see

(29:04):
them week by week finding stuff that's gonna work going forward.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
They're seven to four. I think that says it all.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Winning is fun.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Winning is always fun for me. A little bit of
an identity thing. I think we came in with high
expectations for the past game. It's time to fully accept
this is a run first team. When they win football games,
it's when their run game gets established. If you were
gonna pick out a strength of this team right now,
it would be the run game. The offensive line has
been blocking well and Travis etn is having an amazing season,

(29:33):
and Tooton is developing as his rookie season goes along.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
For me, there needs to be some focus on that.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
We talk a lot about what Trevor isn't, but let's
talk a little bit about what the.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Run game has been for this team.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
And that's been to me, the MVP of this offense
has been Travis etn and that's what is getting a
lot of these wins and maybe not getting the shine
it deserves because of some other stuff that we're picking at.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
But the run game has looked good.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
I can remember a conversation with Mike masor good on Mike,
the Jagguars original offensive line coach, and I and how
do you get the run game going? And he's the
run game. He's an attitude and when you talk to
the offensive lineman on this team, they have the right
attitude for it.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Absolutely.

Speaker 5 (30:08):
Stay with us.

Speaker 9 (30:27):
We're not apologizing for fing wins around here. How that's
about resilience. That's about staying the course and staying together
and making plays.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
When we need it most.

Speaker 9 (30:48):
How about our quarterback of Parker Watson.

Speaker 8 (30:50):
At that's what about?

Speaker 4 (31:01):
Hey, the guy just keeps coming up.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
I had to get the bleet button out for that one.
But it's always worth it.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
Yeah. I was getting on the plane the other night
and I happened to sit like a couple of seats
behind Cam Little and he was, you know, I kind
of got off before him because he was getting a suitcase,
and I said, I laughed, and I told him, I said,
you know, you hit two fifty two yard field goals
and I didn't even mention it in anything. I wrote,
that's how you know it's a And he laughed and

(31:32):
he said, welcome to the you know, currency of kicking
in the NFL. And I said I'd probably wrote him out.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Yeah, listen, if you missed it.

Speaker 5 (31:40):
I said, I would have written about it if you
missed and he laughed. He goes, yeah, that's what but
two fifty two yard field goals and you don't even
think about it anymore.

Speaker 4 (31:47):
And he was the guy who won the game and
didn't get mentioned it's a.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Good place to be.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
We got a lot of other stuff to talk about
and we will be back here on jag Zam tomorrow
to preview a little bit ahead because we're not here Thursday,
so join us on Jagzama Wednesday.
