All right, Clarence, this kind of went the way you
thought it would go. You had it twenty eight to ten,
You had Houston winning the game here, so you were

Here's a number that I left the game saying, Okay,
this can't happen. It was fifty five fifty five pass
attempts by Cooper Rush. No, no, no, no, no, no no.
There's a lot of law. There was a lot wrong
last night for the Cowboys. But for me, this is
not winning football. This is not Cooper Rush. This is

not what he's supposed to be doing and before he
throws the ball fifty five times, pull him out and
throw Trey Lance in there.

plan was to be balanced in the run board.

That was not the intention. That was not the goal. Well,
the Texas said, we go that trick. We gonna let
Cooper Rush beats, and so.

They you know, obviously when heavy run looks and then
you know, made Cooper Rush throw the ball.

You know that was a plan, That's what you know
they did.

And yeah, but yeah, obviously that's not a style of
play that helps Cooper Rush win football games. When he
was four and one and coming to the season and
five and one, four, two and five and one in
his career as the starting quarterback and plays at DAK
Press because it wasn't because he was throwing the ball
fifty five times. That's not the formula for success with
Cooper Rush is your quarterback, That's that's not what he

does best. And he has some decent moments, but his
accuracy throwing the ball behind guys.

You know, it's funny cause I was asking, okay, was
the game closer than the score? I mean it kind
of got away in the fourth quarter with that stupid
Tyler Geydon.

Trying to pick up the ball and run the sack.

Gave up the sack, then then the fumble. Then he
got the fumble, tried to run. Then he was stripped
and then they ran in.

Yeah, the guy who sacked it picked up after he
fumbled it, picked it up and ran it in.

Was just looking like Lt.

Keystone Cops and everything else going on with the cow
was uh, it was.

it was twenty to ten. It was manageable, you know,
and then you get a play and you got whatever.
You know, anything could happened, you know, at the last minute,
but that's when you know, it got away with the Cowboy.
Then the Texas went in and got their cheap touch
down at the end because they just want the rub
it in on the Cowboys and let the fans celebrate

and do whatever. And they got their pound of flesh.
But Texas did not look and I know, I don't
know if this they didn't look impressive to me for
a team that came into the season but hoping to
go deep in the playoffs and young quarterback coach and
building off last year. They made a lot of moves

in the off season going to get digs and and
different things.

To really go to the next level.

They don't look like they're ready to go to the
next level, even though it's crazy when they one thirty
one to ten. They blew out the Cowboys, but it
wasn't like Detroit blew them out.

They wasn't like, you know, it wasn't just they overwhelming.

You know, here's the comp I gave it to you,
and you tell me if I'm crazy, I said to
somebody's more.

Say, it's like the Atlanta Falcons game.

Cowboys went to Atlanta, Atlanta handled them, and then we
saw Atlanta go face Denver and get torn apart. And
you say, you look at Atlanta.

Who I think Atlanta's two straight games is to beat
the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah, they lost to New Orleans, yeah and so.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
But people had thought a lot of people picked Atlanta
to win their divisions, such as they're picking Houston win
the division. You just kind of look at them and say,
you know, they'll probably make the playoffs, but this is
not a team you're looking for to go to Supernown.

They did not have a clean game.
Speaker 5 (05:15):

Stroud, the quarterback, didn't have a great game. But still,
these Cowboys are that bad that you can play a CE.

Game if you're a playoff team, blow them out and
blow them out.

Yeah, that's what it is. I mean it's Cowboys were
already a mass unit.

You know, you don't have Dak.

You got all these guys on who have been on
injury reserve, injured out, A lot of guys were out
for the game.

And then you lose.

Jake Fergus in the first quarter, and at the end
of the game, you don't have Tyler Smith, you don't
have Zach Bard, you don't have Tyler Guy. And I
mean the tolls going to take his toll on. I mean,
it just took its toll on them numbers wise, but
they're not a good team otherwise.

First offensive series on your side of the field. We'll

second week in a row that you wanted to run

are you doing? And this on the heels of Houston
scoring two touchdowns on their opening drive. The first one
called back after the first place, so then they decided
to take the ball still down the field ended up
scoring on a forty five yard touchdown run by Joe Mixon.
It was that kind of night where you just that
kind of first opening series. I mean, have you seen

a series between the offensive plays from Houston to score
two touchdowns and then the Cowboys having theirs and going
for the fake. I just looked at that first time.
I'm like, wow, wow that man. Yeah, it's crazy. It
was crazy, and it was just too easy. It was like, wow,
it's gonna be that kind of night. And I thought

it was gonna be a run away early. I was
trying to write, you know, a runaway at the first quarter.

It didn't happen to the you know, to the fourth quarter,
but it looked like it's gonna be a run away
early somehow of Cowboys and I think, you know, it's
funny because the Cowboy's been blown out a number of times.
But I'm with Jerry and with Mike. I don't think
they've quit on him. Even though the score has been lopsided.

They have fighting them.

It's not good. Now.
Speaker 6 (07:41):
You can say that they're not coached well and they
jump off side and they don't execute, but this is
not a team that's laid down. So despite the blowout losses.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
So going back to your time when Uncle Wade was
here and then they got tagged up by Green Bay
on NBC Sunday Night Football. So you're saying it's not
at that level because he firing Wade.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
Yeah, And I don't.

I mean, I think that was the media thing. I
don't really think they quit. They were a bad football
team and Tony.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Romo was out.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
There was a lot of things that were going on,
and Jerry would tell you know, he regrets firing Wade.
I think the way just you know, there was Wade
never got cred. I mean, he won a playoff game
and there were people who were just he replaced Bill,
and he was because he was the opposite the Bill.
Even when he won went thirteen to three and they lost,
people were making fun of Wade and laughing away.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
You know.

Then the next year they go and win a playoff game.
Oh no, Tony the next year injuries, and then the
following year they won a playoff game.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
It still wasn't good enough. It was still this.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
Sure, this this narrative about who Wade was. Then the
following year when they start back because of Tony's irt,
now we quit on Wade. I mean, so I never
put stock until they quit on Wade, and so we
had the fire. Jared succumbed to the media pressure that
was never on Wade's side and his wanting to elevate.

Thank you, Jason Garrett. It was always there, just Garrett,
thank you before he even higher. Way Wait, yes, you know,
so that was a lot of things were work right.

The bubble it up to the surface, and yes, yes
there were there was people actively in the organization who
were Jason Garrett fans right, who is the way he
did something wrong? Way got lit up for it, and
so yes, I get it one hundred percent. And the
Cowboys ended up going on a winning streak after they
named Jason the interim head coach and then eventually named

him the head coach, and then they had ten years
of basic mediocret. Somebody emailed me last night during the game.
Fire McCarthy now, and I said, replace him with who
do you? And I said you do? He said Zimmer
or shot and iron I said, do you realize that
this is not this is still the same players are

going out here? Okay, the same players are going out
here looking with the Jets. Yesterday fire their general manager
Joe Douglas, and they fired the head coach, Robert Tolliver.

Some of this.

Sometimes sometimes you just gotta admit this is a this
is a bad bachelor Stu.

He made a bad bachelor student.

That's one thing. When people say fire the coach, I
mean for who? Who you gonna give it to?

I mean, Zimmer's got enough with the deal.

All these coaches on.

One year deals, I mean they're not listening to Mike.
They're not listening to them either, you know. And there's
not a new voice or whatever else. All these coaches
on one year deals. Uh, who you gonna fire them for?
You know, who are you gonna elevate? There's no got
to elevate. There's no Jason Garrett waiting in the wings.
You know, Brian shot not but he's off of his court.
But Mike is calling the players. There's nothing Brian is

doing that says, hey, get that guy shot.

Brian and Mike have worked together forever, so it's not
like Brian's gonna come here with a whole new bunch
of eye is and scheme up a whole bunch of
new things. It's basically going to be more of the same.
And at this point time you just finished the year. Really,
I mean, people are looking for some magic elixa right
now to come within the coaching staff that's going to
fix this same it's not there because the players. You've

got issues with the players. We don't know on Sunday
who's actually going to play on the offensive line. You know,
the five guys are going to be out there.
Speaker 6 (11:23):
Yeah, I think I think Tyler Smith will play because
he always plays. I don't know if Zach Martin will
players should play, and I don't really know what's going
on with Tyler Guyden correct. So yeah, and you know,
and you know again, in three or four weeks, you know,
you might do it just to get ahead of the

cycle of coaches so you can start the process of
looking for another head coach. But at this point, no,
you're not doing it with seven games left to see.

So just stay on the offensive line.

Here where the myriad of issues we have and we're
talking about it on the players line last time. How
do you start to view Terrence Steele now? Because he
was bad again, He's been had a bad year. Wasn't
could last year? And you know in today's NFL they
start coming around to do one or two things, either

asking you to take a pay cut or they're telling
you to go away. But based on what you've seen
here in the way they operate, what do you think.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Is the next move that's going to be going forward
for Steel?
Speaker 6 (12:28):
I mean, I think he could be a prime candidate
for that Michael Gallup deal. You know till you're you know,
you're your contract. You know you're a sour cap catcher,
save some money, you know. Again, and this is.
Speaker 5 (12:42):
The problem the Cowboys of a lot of holes to
film offseason. I mean, say you cut him and you move.
Speaker 6 (12:52):
Tyler gad in the right tackleway played in college, you
still got to find a left tackle and what was
Zach Martin most likely you still got to find left
I mean right guard. You know you need defa of
the tackles. You know, oss a free agent Demark Lawrence
is a free agent.

You know, you need safety. To me. You know, you
got a lot of solds of receiver, running back.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
I mean, you got a lot of holes to field,
you know, and you would hoping that.

The right tackle wouldn't have been one of them.

Two years into his deal, you know, he gets the
new deal, and you wouldn't think the right tack would
be one of them.

But that's the way he's playing. That's the way it is.
But I never was that impressed from the beginning.

You know, he was solid, you know for a guy
who was undrafted free agent, but it wasn't like he
was a difference maker that you had to really sign
to this extension.

To make sure he didn't leave. But that was a
decision they made.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
So I'm just based off what I saw yesterday. I
think you had to start to ask yourself about that
whole right that right tackle situation. And then Tyler Goyton
had another had a tough game and season, yeah, tough season, yes,
And so I know they preach patients with guys. After

one year, he had a murderer's row of guys to
try to face this year on that first place schedule,
and It makes me ask the question do you put
him back? It right, because coming out of Oklahoma, that's
where he was. I don't know if Austin Richards is
ready to be your left tackle or whether you decide
to put Tyler Smith out there. But just when I
(14:33):
look at twenty twenty five, I think it'd be hard
to bring Terren Steel back making the same money based
on what he did this year and last year.
Speaker 6 (14:42):
Yeah, I mean it's again, lots of moving parts, lots
of decisions were made. What coaches can make, decision with
office you're gonna be running, you know, what are you
gonna be teaching?
Speaker 5 (14:51):
What office line coach are gonna have?
Speaker 6 (14:52):
I mean, there are a lot of things out there,
decisions to be made with the staff before you decide
on the play.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
There, so to speak.

And then that's gonna have to be made in a
hurry before you know, you know, when the season is over.
But yeah, those are all good points. Again, you know,
we'll learn a lot of the next seven weeks, certainly
about Austin Richards and maybe some other guys that they
get some playing times and and see what they have.

But but again you could the number position I mean,
there's a thought process that you can go get a
center and move Cooper be with the guard, which was
he was best at it.

He was an All American guard.

Yeah, he was a better college player than Tyler Guy.

And I would dare say you could say he was.
I was a unanimous or even two timing he was.
He was year Yes, so he was an outstanding guard.
Now this is where I didn't dive all into the
draft mix stuff the arms long enough at guard, the
league and all that kind of stuff.

But if he could, if and I would operate.

I did here for Dallas Cowboy, I would and I
would plan as those Zach partner it's not going to
be here, that would be my plan in twenty twenty five.

and when you played this long, you kind of want

play again, you don't really want to end it like this.
And I think he's gonna soldier on through the end
of the season, but there's some talk about it.

Cooper Rush is your quarterback, That's that's not what he

But Texas did not look and I know, I don't
know if this they didn't look impressive to me for
a team that came into the season but hoping to
go deep in the playoffs and young quarterback coach and
building off last year. They made a lot of moves

different things.

To really go to the next level.

They don't look like they're ready to go to the
next level, even though it's crazy when they one thirty
one to ten. They blew out the Cowboys, but it

You know, here's the comp I gave it to you,

Cowboys went to Atlanta, Atlanta handled them, and then we
saw Atlanta go face Denver and get torn apart. And
you say, you look at Atlanta.

Who I think Atlanta's two straight games is to beat
the Cowboys.

Yeah, they lost to New Orleans, yeah and so.

But people had thought a lot of people picked Atlanta
to win their divisions, such as they're picking Houston win
the division. You just kind of look at them and say,
you know, they'll probably make the playoffs, but this is
not a team you're looking for to go to Supernown.

I'm like, wow, wow that man. Yeah, it's crazy. It
was crazy, and it was just too easy. It was like, wow,
it's gonna be that kind of night. And I thought

it was gonna be a run away early. I was
trying to write, you know, a runaway at the first quarter.

It didn't happen to the you know, to the fourth quarter,
but it looked like it's gonna be a run away
early somehow of Cowboys and I think, you know, it's
funny because the Cowboy's been blown out a number of times.

try to face this year on that first place schedule,
and It makes me ask the question do you put
him back? It right, because coming out of Oklahoma, that's
where he was. I don't know if Austin Richards is
ready to be your left tackle or whether you decide
to put Tyler Smith out there. But just when I

look at twenty twenty five, I think it'd be hard
to bring Terren Steel back making the same money based
on what he did this year and last year.

Yeah, I mean it's again, lots of moving parts, lots
of decisions were made. What coaches can make, decision with
office you're gonna be running, you know, what are you
gonna be teaching?

decisions to be made with the staff before you decide

I mean, it's turned out the season, even the worst
predictions didn't see this team being one of the worst
team league. You could say that they weren't gonna take
that next step, and it was other gonna cast Mike
mccarthur's job because they weren't gonna get it done in
the playoffs. But most people had the Cowboys these getting

to the playoffs or continuing for a playoffs spot.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
Of the seven losses they have, what are the losses?
You say, you know what, should have won that one?
Like your Chicago Bear fan, Hey we should have won
in Washington, we should have beat Green Bay. I mean,
do you tell me a loss that the Cowboys had
this year? You say, hey, you should have won that one.

No, they're none, they're none at all.

Beat pretty sound. When they've been beating, they've been beating proudly.
Speaker 6 (33:29):
It's you know, and you know the one closed loss
against Baltimore. The game was out of reaching. The Cowboy
made it close at the end, you know. Uh, and
then they couldn't get a stop. But yeah, they they've
been thoroughly defeated in all of those games. And this
is not you know, well, one player them here or
there would have made a difference. And if you're Pittsburgh
could kicking themselves thinking whatever we get the Cowboys getting

we beat them.

You know, they came back and beat Pittsburgh. That was
most impressive winter the season. Uh.

But yeah, I mean, you're right, But but at the
end of the day, I'm just saying that no one
saw that coming and and you and certainly with the
players they had, and it just it was just a
bad environment from the beginning when you have all the
coaches on one year deals and you wait till the
end to sign DK and CD, and you wait to

the end to add players to the defensive line.

So stay on that what you're saying, that's when I
go back to the gym, how you look like, yes,
and you can blame your coaches for that, but you
start thinking about, Okay, what's your.

But when they're never changing the gym, and and and
and people have been saying that he want admit it.

de Marcus Lawrence and Zach Martin and the money they

to pay for Michael Parsons.

Maybe they put it on the season just didn't want
to admit it.

And I say wow from that standpoint of that's that's

Generally field needs in free agency so you can draft
pure in the draft, so you can be pure in
the draft, take the best player available. Copbo didn't feel
needs in Craigency. They tried to feel needs in the
draft and get with young guys.

That was a choice.

So which decisions do you look at now saying should
have done should have done something different?

There? Well, I mean.

You know these are I mean, once again, these are
legitimate points. Just like you go back because you're ten
games in and you've seen it hasn't worked. So now
you can kind of go back and just say, Okay, well.

I mean the biggest the biggest problem is upfront. I mean,
choosing to start two rookies not fix the most important
positions on the off Yeah, your churches have been killed.
You not not the choose to start two rookies. Not
fixing uh, your defensive line, your defensive tackle position. I
mean the loss of Darn Bland hurt because you really

thought you had two solid corners and that was an
injury issue. But not addressing the lines, and that's been
the bugger boo for this on both sides.

Lines. Yes, that has been the problem.

That's one things I talked said. You can't stop the run,
you can't run the ball. And what have we seen
in the playoffs the last three years of the Cowboys
that woul get put out the blueprint was there, Hey, man,
run on these guys and they can't stop you.

Because Zimmer coming in would make a difference with the
disciplinarian styles.

takes a while to to to improve even with the
best coordinators. And and I don't know if he has
to bite and he don't have the same bark and

I mean, when you talk about the scheme and the
fundamentals and be more disciplined, there's still the most penalized,
one of the most penalized team in the league.
