about Treyvon Diggs and his availability when Jason Garrett was here.

young Nick, your thoughts on his Trayvon Digg's ability to
play and what he needs to do to get.

He said he's still in the ramp up period. He
does feel healthy.

I know he wants to play, but at the end
of the day, we have to do what we think
is in the best interest of not just him but
also the football team. When you miss time, there's a
ramp up period for not just your body but your
mind figuring out the defense and there's some new faces
in the huddle. I love him as a player, but
ultimately he's got to show us that he's ready to
do everything the right way.

you know, that's probably fair, and then went on into
other stuff. But it's like, there are little tidbits here
and there that show you there's some frictions I think

because of his talent, has been babied everywhere he's ever
gotten and allowed to do whatever he wanted to do,
even at Alabama.

was under such strict rules and then he got here
he could do whatever he wanted to.

into my office. I'm being like, look, you're a fantastic player.
We have loved having you around here. Take a look

When things don't go right and you have these issues
that have been happening behind the scenes, that stuff gets
a lot more difficult to deal with. And I think
they're starting to see that, and that's ultimately why Trayvon
Dicks is not gonna be a cowboy after June first

But these are the final four games unless they make
the playoffs. This is we're seeing the end, and.

We ain't gonna let you put on no good tape
until you shows that you ready to do all the
things that you need to do. I think that's good

I think I want to be very particular how I

I think that the previous regime, at times there there
was a thought of like why is he allowed to
do so much stuff? Why is he able to get
away with all this stuff that that other people wouldn't
get away with. And I think some of that now
is it's just down to code enforcement.

Now I get that, you know, this to me is
no different than you know, different teachers that have different rules.

Sure, and you know it's you know, it's a hundred.
So we made this point earlier this week with or
last week with George Pickens when the question is out
there about Pickens, and it can apply to Digs too.
The idea of I may be more of a disciplinarian
in my house with my kids than on our morning

show r J Choppy is in fact I know I am.
But so you could have my kid living with me
and people be like, man, he's always in trouble. That
same kid could go live with r J Choppy do
the same things he's been doing and does not have
an Howard reputation. Well can always in trouble because he's

that they're breaking over there. So yeah, I think that's

a big part of it is just new enforcement, new rules,
new way of doing things, new standards. That's what it is.

all right, we're not putting up with it. You could
do this when you were doing what you're doing on Sundays.

just this is the time now where he's getting that talk,
and I think he's having a hard time.

signal to people like, hey, it's maybe not been all
perfect behavior around here.

the year on Thursday against the Detroit Lines. That's fair
to say. I mean, nobody's gonna play seventeen perfect games.

fanas this mine. Yes, I've been trying to tell people

has been way too productive this year.

To let's that he did have effort issues on Thursday,
which I think there's a little bit of truth to that.
I think the one hundred percent I look at the
deep shot right before the two minute warning, even on
the interception where the slat bounced off his chest, I
think there was some things. You can look at the
comeback route where it was deflected and he wasn't necessarily
running the stem of the route to one hundred percent effectiveness. Yes, sure,
let's say that there were effort issues. Has he not

been afforded that chance at this point? I mean to say,
to have the understanding and expectation of what he was
going to be when he arrived in this building versus
what you've got the return on investment has been. It's
given him the leeway. So I don't understand why one
issue has all of a sudden completely flipped the narrative
on yeah, you can't pay him.

It's like, because he has five hundred yards this year,
he doesn't have a touchdown.

That's not the standard. Let's make sure they're improved this week.

George Pickens didn't always look like he was out there trying.

He was disengaged.

Like it's just two different reasons, Like I think one
is a bad game that you expect him to move past.

I would put the bad body language from CD right
in that same.
Speaker 7 (19:27):
Game, body sure, sure, that's thank you. Yes, the body
language is an issue, but like when that sort of
stuff happens, it's just I would say that like one
is a bad response to playing poorly the others it
felt very self inflicting.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
So I go back to what I used to say
all the time I was doing radio is interesting on
who we choose to condemn and who we choose to forgive.
Speaker 7 (19:47):
Sure, but why, like like in terms of if you
talk about with CD, what was CD's problem that those
games that's been drops And it's like, how are you
not finishing the play with George very first snap of
the game next Gen stats, it's a handoff. It's it's
a ball going to Georgia side dak ran one mile
per hour faster handing the ball off to Javonte Williams
and George Pickens did off the line of scripts. I
mean that right there, That's that shows an issue with that.

Go back to what Jack said, Hey, you get the
tape man his issue?

What did it take us week what thirteen fourteen until
you said, hey man, this is a problem.

This is a dude that was helping you win games.
Oh yeah, I'm paying it. Look here, this is the
analogy that dawned on me when I was driving back
from the airport Friday morning. He's if you follow baseball,
if you ever follow baseball, He's Manny Ramirez. That's who
he is. George Pickens is the NFL version of Manny Ramirez,
where he's ridiculously naturally talented at what he does. He

is either unstoppable or sometimes looks uninterested, and it can
change from play to play or week to week or whatever.
You're just like, you don't even know why, but you
know what. You pay Manny Ramirez every day of the
week two because you go he's that good and you'll
put up with it. Same sort of thing with George Pickens.
You pay George Pickens because he's good enough that you
you deal with that stuff happening. You try your damnedest
to make it better. But even if you're told it

comes with that, and then you go, okay, cool, I'll
still sign up for the Raiders game. I'll sign up
for the Eagles game. I'll sign up for the Washington game.

This again, does it make the money different?

I think that's a different conversation in which I would
probably dip into That's probably the difference between three and
four years. That's probably the difference between thirty and thirty
five million. I would have that conversation when it comes
to these little things, but that's the overall concept of
not paying him, the concept of not paying him at
all and doing the MICA and trading him somewhere else.

Me once again, in a seventeen game season, you're not
gonna have seventeen great games. There's gonna be some games
you look up to. And this was I mean, look,

it's not always pretty with Tyler Goeyton. The last month
or so, Geiiton's been he gets it done. It's not

teach tape like this is terrible. But the way I've
compared this analogy is like he's the guy then when
he's swimming, like is he is.

He is okay, Yeah, he stayed up.

He's making Yeah, yeah, he's making. He passes it. He
got a seventy, but he passed like it's it looks
it does not look technically beautiful, but he fights and
he plays nasty and like, I'll give him credit for that,
and he's he's done a really good job. One of
the things that Mazie Smith that doomed him here as
the first round pick was he started hanging his head.

When you start hanging your head when things go poorly
early on in your career, that has doomed so many
guys are Tristan Hill, Taco Charles, and Mazzie Smith. Tyler
Geyton was at a point last year where it's like,
is he going to hang his head? And if he did,
if he dropped his head, it's going to be a problem.
He didn't fought through it. Has managed to stay encouraged
and not let that get him down, and I think
that's why he's been able to kind of come out
the other side and play okay. Steele was not good

the other day. Steel has been good enough consistently in
the run game that to me, it's like, I know
who my tackles are. There's no question about how I'm
going to tie this up if everybody's healthy to meet
his guiding and Steel, But it is enough to make
you wonder, like how much extra help do I need
to Does Javonte need to be chipping somebody on the
way out? Do I need to have an extra tight
end in there picking some stuff up? Because it's it

can be an issue at times.

You're going to have to get better play from your

a home game against the Chargers that you've got coming up,
and then you got into the season with two road games,

uh Christmas night in Washington, and uh then you get
the Giants in the season. But you've got to you
got to be better. And yes, they scored thirty three
points against Detroit, Yes they scored thirty two points. You've
got to be better. Yeah, And I'm i'm i'm I'm
concerned on the offensive line about just where they're going

because these two next these next two games, in my opinion,
these are gonna be pretty there's gonna be too two
pretty good uh defensive lines and you know things you
got to go.

Yeah, you don't want to have to do this. But
the one solid here, silver lining in order going This
year has been Dak's best season. When you talk about
just being able to feel the rush, make a little
slides stuff, he's getting to that veteran point that a
lot of these guys do around the stage of like
it's just a step here, it's a shoulder shift here,
and you know how to avoid the rush, step up,

make a throw, so he's able to neutralize them. That
Micah Parson's getting thirty pressures against them or whatever he
got when when he came to down but not really
getting to Dak at any point. It was just an
example of Dak going how to maneuver the pocket, no
matter how much guys were struggling. So I think, if
you can get some chips in there and you can
kind of slow some things down, Dak is playing at
a level hopefully where that is not going to be

given him the leeway. So I don't understand why one

and George Pickens did off the line of scripts. I
mean that right there, That's that shows an issue with that.

where he's ridiculously naturally talented at what he does. He

is either unstoppable or sometimes looks uninterested, and it can
change from play to play or week to week or whatever.
You're just like, you don't even know why, but you
know what. You pay Manny Ramirez every day of the
week two because you go he's that good and you'll
put up with it. Same sort of thing with George Pickens.
You pay George Pickens because he's good enough that you
you deal with that stuff happening. You try your damnedest
to make it better. But even if you're told it

comes with that, and then you go, okay, cool, I'll
still sign up for the Raiders game. I'll sign up
for the Eagles game. I'll sign up for the Washington game.

I think that's a different conversation in which I would
probably dip into That's probably the difference between three and

So I go back into this game and I'm like, Okay,
I got more concerns about what the heck Cavante Turpin's
doing on these punts and Jake Ferguson now a couple
weeks in Row, what you just giving up the ball?
I'm now seeing this in consecutive weeks where these are
mistakes that we just can't have. You can have a
one off week, you know, all of us have a
one off week. You know, it happens, It happens, Does

if I'm looking at this team, I'm like, Okay, George
Pickens issue or is it. Ferguson here giving up the
ball two weeks in a row is a cavante On

this was something that people talked about with him previously,

so I think that that's probably why I got so
much intensity with Pickings, because people are like, we're not
sliding back into bad habits? Are we these bad habits
that got you out of Pittsburgh?

they've been really bad and it's got you wondering if
you need to take a tackle early in this draft again.

weeks ago, people going, oh, should should Nate Thomas beer
you're starting left tackle? And that was the first thing
I thought leaving the lines game was like, I don't
want to hear that discussion anymore because Tyler Goeyton. Look,
it's not always pretty with Tyler Goeyton. The last month
or so, Geiiton's been he gets it done. It's not

teach tape like this is terrible. But the way I've
compared this analogy is like he's the guy then when
he's swimming, like is he is.

He is okay, Yeah, he stayed up.
Speaker 7 (35:33):
He's making Yeah, yeah, he's making. He passes it. He
got a seventy, but he passed like it's it looks
it does not look technically beautiful, but he fights and
he plays nasty and like, I'll give him credit for that,
and he's he's done a really good job. One of
the things that Mazie Smith that doomed him here as
the first round pick was he started hanging his head.
(35:55):
When you start hanging your head when things go poorly
early on in your career, that has doomed so many
guys are Tristan Hill, Taco Charles, and Mazzie Smith. Tyler
Geyton was at a point last year where it's like,
is he going to hang his head? And if he did,
if he dropped his head, it's going to be a problem.
He didn't fought through it. Has managed to stay encouraged
and not let that get him down, and I think
that's why he's been able to kind of come out
the other side and play okay. Steele was not good
(36:17):
the other day. Steel has been good enough consistently in
the run game that to me, it's like, I know
who my tackles are. There's no question about how I'm
going to tie this up if everybody's healthy to meet
his guiding and Steel, But it is enough to make
you wonder, like how much extra help do I need
to Does Javonte need to be chipping somebody on the
way out? Do I need to have an extra tight
end in there picking some stuff up? Because it's it

can be an issue at times.

Tyler Guiden did not practice along with Malie Hooker, who
was dealing with a personal issue today.

That? To me? When I started to think about where
things are going for the Cowboys in these last four games,
You're going to have to get better play from your
offensive line. It was very clear in the in the
game against Detroit that you you weren't where you needed
to be. Nick, you bring up a good point about
what Brian Flores can do defensively. Then after that it's
a home game against the Chargers that you've got coming up,
and then you got into the season with two road games,
(37:13):
uh Christmas night in Washington, and uh then you get
the Giants in the season. But you've got to you
got to be better. And yes, they scored thirty three
points against Detroit, Yes they scored thirty two points. You've
got to be better. Yeah, And I'm i'm i'm I'm
concerned on the offensive line about just where they're going
(37:33):
because these two next these next two games, in my opinion,
these are gonna be pretty there's gonna be too two
pretty good uh defensive lines and you know things you
got to go.

Yeah, you don't want to have to do this. But
the one solid here, silver lining in order going This
year has been Dak's best season. When you talk about
just being able to feel the rush, make a little
slides stuff, he's getting to that veteran point that a
lot of these guys do around the stage of like
it's just a step here, it's a shoulder shift here,
and you know how to avoid the rush, step up,
(38:05):
make a throw, so he's able to neutralize them. That
Micah Parson's getting thirty pressures against them or whatever he
got when when he came to down but not really
getting to Dak at any point. It was just an
example of Dak going how to maneuver the pocket, no
matter how much guys were struggling. So I think, if
you can get some chips in there and you can
kind of slow some things down, Dak is playing at
a level hopefully where that is not going to be

as big of a.
