Martin is having surgery on his ankle that will end
his season. Michael Parsons in the locker room said this
(00:44):
about Zach Martin, according to Calvin Watkins is uh them.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
It's not like no exclusive.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
Okay, Hey, I'm just going to read from what I
see on Calvin's page with I really just hate to
see him go out like this last year of his
deal and everything he's really meant to the team, the
work he put in, the time effort, man is just
truly it's sickening for us because we know how important
(01:20):
he is to this team.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
Don't you wish you'd have been there to No, I
do well, you should attribute anything.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
That's why, let me stop.
Speaker 5 (01:35):
I'm sorry question it.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
I feel like I did I stab these gentlemen in.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
The back of.
Speaker 6 (01:43):
School journalists not knowing that the public don't care. Public
just want the information.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
For the public.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
And Claire's right, we're here, they're there, they were there.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
I have several lovely posts on my on my Twitter
account if you'd like to read a few.
Speaker 6 (01:57):
Yeah, y'all tweeted the same stuff. He made a conscious choice.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
He made a conte.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Okay, that's just who he goes to for his news.
He don't go to most trusted, most trust. He wants
to know what's going on the list room. He goes
to Calvin.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Wat Yeah, okay, whatever new.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
You're eligible for all kinds of upgrades on that if
you like to consider ed warders.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Twitter count says Zach Martin declined questions about his playing
future teammate Michael Parsons. Believe Martin, we're retired before he
played for another team.
Speaker 7 (02:28):
Did what say?
Speaker 8 (02:29):
I haven't tweeted any think about that, but I would
know that the best quote about that was, like I said,
you know, obviously say he retire of Waite placement and
tell me team he said he he he talked about
him bleeding blue and white.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
That's on there. He just didn't finish the court.
Speaker 6 (02:44):
That's right, this guy and this guy belieds blue and white.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Parson says, he's literally the representation of the Star. I
just hope he has one more year left.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
In the tank.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
That is from Edward thirteen minutes ago.
Speaker 5 (02:58):
Thank you, ed Yes, sir, anything I can do to
contribute type faster than you.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I didn't even try. I mean, it wasn't. I mean,
I'm not trying to win a Twitter type of context.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
You're hardly ever engaged on Twitter. You ever have anything?
Speaker 2 (03:13):
No, I have something.
Speaker 8 (03:14):
I'm not trying to redo the quotes on Twitter for
all of that stuff. It's just not important. But yeah,
it was different the whole time I was making my
way around the locker room.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
So wait a minute, if you didn't put anything out here,
why are you so social media?
Speaker 6 (03:27):
Why are you so offended?
Speaker 9 (03:28):
Man?
Speaker 8 (03:29):
I was not offended. I'm just stating that he wasn't.
I was not offended. Ed was there though he's right here.
You all say, what do you learn in the locker
room that.
Speaker 5 (03:36):
What do you know when he starts quoting another guy
who's not.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
He my point, we're there in the locker room, you
going quotes on us.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
There was fifty people there, fifty.
Speaker 6 (03:44):
People there, But he was looking at Calvin when he.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
Said he was looking at his Twitter account.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
I said, the most sensitive people around are the players.
Speaker 6 (03:55):
It is the meeting.
Speaker 8 (03:56):
We're not sensitive or offended. We're just having a conversation.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
So is that coming back?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
What do you think I mean about the mind?
Speaker 5 (04:04):
Is this?
Speaker 8 (04:04):
I mean, it's what's understood, don't have to be explained.
I mean, the guys in the last year of his contract. Uh,
there's been talk. He's alluded to it in the past
that this could be his last year, certainly, and that's
something that Michael talked about when he was accidentally ran
over Mike McCarthy earlier years, talking about.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
This being accidentally.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
Jerry's big bus right over the top of the coaches.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
I mean, the numbers say what it is.
Speaker 8 (04:29):
I mean, and and you know you're gonna at this
point in his career, everybody believes this is last year.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
You know, Michael Parson believes that.
Speaker 9 (04:39):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (04:39):
Talking to Cede Lamb, he thinks that that could be
the case. I talked to them, Marcus Lawrence, he believes
that could be the case. And Dalvin's cook is no
longer in the locker room, but he dirty dirty. But
they all believe this could be his last year, understandably
(05:00):
so and so yeah, So it was Yeah, he's having
season and surgery and certainly, and he was there, but
Zach didn't want to talk about it. It's not the
time to talk about it. But just because he had surgery,
it's about getting healthy. Yes, you want to get help,
you have ankle surtery. It's about the rest of your life.
Speaker 9 (05:19):
You know.
Speaker 8 (05:19):
And he wants to get his ankle healed. You don't
want to deal with an ankle injury. He's certainly not
at forty, not at fifty that because that thing. You
want to get that thing fixed, you know, so you
can have fun with your kids. But as far as
playing football again, I believe this is it.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (05:34):
I don't think he's coming back. I mean, he's he
was not an All Pro, he was not a Pro
Bowl this year. He's a good player this year, but
he's used to being a great player, and so I
think it's hard for guys who's been great to then
be even good, let alone the levely played it and
I mean he was getting treated like like regular average
dudes this year.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
And it was because of the ankle.
Speaker 8 (05:52):
I mean, he admitted and he talked about that, but
the ankle really limited him and he couldn't be the
player he used to.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
Be, couldn't anchor be athletic anymore. And the thing that
surprised me about it was he talked about this was
all part of his problems he's been having since training camp,
that this has been going on for that long. But
he was able to make it this point, to this
point help a couple of young offensive linemen be more
(06:18):
prepared for the time when he was no longer available.
But he said he went into this week thinking these
two weeks will help me get over this and I'll
be able to play on Monday night. And did he
say it was Monday or Tuesday? Monday Monday, went out
and worked on the field with Britt Brown, and Britt
basically told him, Hey, I think this is a bad idea.
(06:39):
I think you should have surgery now and call it
quits for the season. He talked to the coaches last
night or yesterday, and neither he nor McCarthy addressed the
retirement issue. Like you said, Zach's concentration at this point
is on just regaining his health. But he has previously
talked about approaching this as it being as final season,
(07:00):
and he said nothing to the contrary in all of
the time since, including today.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
Now you know, that's why Brett Brown is one of
the best rehab guys in the business, because he could
look at that and be like, Nah, it ain't gonna
work and.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
It's not gonna get it any better anytime soon. So
it's interesting. And last year we had Jesse hoighlay on
and Jesse said, as a player, said were the.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
Last you know, oh, we can look at several players
on this at least one other player on this team
though they did lasted.
Speaker 8 (07:25):
Well, that that's that's the decline played their movie injured
though no decline and players decline and play.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
But he might but in this case, he might have
thought that the reason for his decline and pay, or
at least how exaggerated it is, is because he's physically
not healthy.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
Yeah, I bet that's I mean, I think he's normal
to say that is part of the reason.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
The amazing thing too, was that Ceedee Lamb didn't know
anything about this until he was asked the first question
in the hallway outside the locker room after practice, and
then he you know, he spent his ten minutes with us,
and then he went inside and immediately went over to
Zach Martin rugged him at his locker and.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
He talked about what Zach mettim, which is either you know,
you don't.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
Really have sales, don't hang out with hippop No.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
No.
Speaker 8 (08:03):
He talked about how Zach has been a huge party.
He already talks to him daily, how it's been a
big important part of his development as a football player.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
As a person.
Speaker 5 (08:11):
And he talked to him every day.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
Yeah, talk to him every day, which is crazy, just
about how to.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Be a proa, how to handle situations and get shell
for ready.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
To play everything.
Speaker 10 (08:20):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (08:20):
And this happens on every team. It's amazing to people
that hang around that we don't know that hang around,
you know what I mean, Like he wouldn't think that
they hang around and talk like they do. But it's
like that on every team where you find people that
you wouldn't think hang around and talk all the time, right,
and yet they do.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
Like I have never been surprised that Calvin and Clarence
hang out. I wasn't all surprised to turn on my
TV last Sunday and see the two of them sitting
there together.
Speaker 8 (08:45):
And on that TV show he made a comment about
let's keep Zach, let's keep rock Hoffman in over Zach.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
Martin, who said that Calvin, Oh, I know what you're
referring to now, I was ahead of my time on.
Speaker 9 (08:58):
This stuff.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
And my point and and and you know.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Well tell people what you're talking about, because they don't, yes,
they don't. Necessarily, I don't want There.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
Are a lot of people even before now who thought
that Zach Martins to just shut it down and let's
go with brock Hoffon, you know, because he's younger and
he brings the energy.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
And my point, it's something to deal on.
Speaker 8 (09:21):
Always says, you know, the game don't love you back, okay,
And you can love the game. The game love you,
you know, And these are precious moments. And I know
if Zach could play, he would want to play. He
would want to go out on the field. I don't
care what the record is, whatever else. You know, this
surgery is certainly taking something away from him, and and
and and and and forced him to make a decision.
(09:43):
But he would want to play on the field. But
the conversation was about, you know, the.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
Way you mocked me. I did not mike in front
of our peers in the interview room. After I asked
McCarthy very delicately, what do you lose if you're bringing
no I said something about considering how well he's that
Hoffman has played and the difference he's made. Where do
(10:09):
you you know, what what do you gain when Zach
Martin come back? And he said a couple of things
about Brack Hoffman, and then he said, Zach Martin's a
hell of a player, you know. And then a few
minutes later we're in the interview room and Clarence turns
around and says something about me asking me asking, telling
McCarthy that I thought Zach Martin should lose his show.
Speaker 8 (10:29):
He's been the questions are for a loan, he really
first of all.
Speaker 5 (10:35):
First of all, first of all, you get it's worthwhile
to have the coach on the record on somebody. He
wasn't on the record.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
We could get loaded.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
But we know how he feels about it, so we
knew Okay, when Zach Martin is healthy, he will be
playing ahead of Brack Hoffman. For those who question that,
I can answer that question, listen, But thank you for
your concern.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
There was no concern.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
How I made it this far without you.
Speaker 8 (11:02):
We're gonna have We're gonna have fun with our questions.
And really, you your question was what do you miss you?
What are you losing if Zach Martin comes back? That
that was your question, and you didn't mean it that way.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
You were you know, you were being delicate with it.
Speaker 8 (11:16):
But and so that's that's why he said Jack Martin's
a good player, because that's what you asked him.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Ioiated.
Speaker 8 (11:23):
But the notion that you're losing some with Zach Martin
coming back over Brock Hobbs was not absurd.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Okay, that's fine.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
That is not obsurd. This is our first time that's
not absurd in the last eleven years, So right now,
it's not absurd.
Speaker 8 (11:38):
So when I tweeted it, though, even though I busted
Joe Chops a little bit about it in the meeting,
and that's okay. You about it, you get about it,
but that's okay. When I tweeted it, it wasn't really
about you. It was because a lot of people have
that same.
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Question, because two minutes after you said what you said,
you then tweeted something to the same effect. I wasn't
supposed to think that that one was a reference to me.
Speaker 8 (12:03):
But my point is that reporters, cause you think I'm
talking I said reports Cavin Walkers have made the same sayment.
Some other people have made the same same fans. Even
when I tweeted fancy, Yeah, I agree with you, Brock,
but you meet his starter.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
So that's what It wasn't really a stupid question.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
You and I did not tweet it as a stupid question.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
You know, this conversation really deserved that my tweet.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
My tweet was that I finished with so we.
Speaker 6 (12:29):
Can see who's is longer.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
You're correct, I mean whose argument you are?
Speaker 9 (12:34):
You are?
Speaker 6 (12:35):
The questions?
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Are?
Speaker 6 (12:36):
You are the questions?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
We have fun with each other. It's okay. It's how
you get by today. It's okay, have some fun with
each other.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
I don't love Claires, but I can still like you.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
We got some fun with each other.
Speaker 8 (12:49):
You used to wear guilty now, I mean because he
asked they were thirty minutes long?
Speaker 6 (12:53):
Can you tell me what the difference between the three
point four hang time from a punter in his fifth season,
and how that affe coverage.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Please, I mean when my problem is the.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
Guy you know just and we got to take two
minutes after court, I mean you got to tell up.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
You ain't got to tell us all these different claires.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Rather just go Mike talk about interceptions.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, yet I get it, get to the crux to
the moutain.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
It's funny anything else today?
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Yeah, So on, Zack Martin, I will ask you the
question that we asked in the in the previous podcast.
I think we can all agree he's a Hall of Famer.
The question I have is does he get in on
the first ballot?
Speaker 6 (13:39):
I mean he should, but you know it's a it's
you know, offensive linemen are always crazy. They didn't win nothing.
So you know, I'm not going to sit there and say,
depending on who the class is, when he comes up,
he should, he should, but his resume will say he should,
but they didn't win nothing while he was here, and
so you know, there may be somebody else who rolls
through who has won some rings.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
And he doesn't touch the ball, which is also makes
it more difficult. But I agree that he'll get in
the Hall of Fame, whether he's first ballot or not.
I don't know. I mean, we don't know. If you
like Manning is gonna see a first ballot and he's
won Super Bowls.
Speaker 8 (14:14):
Eli man is not the first ballot guy. Zach Martin
is the first ballot guy.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
I'm not in the room.
Speaker 8 (14:21):
Seven straight a seven first Team All Pros.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
There's only two other guys, Hannah, Yeah.
Speaker 8 (14:29):
Two other guys who guards? Who have first Team All Pros? Okay,
seventh not even larry out.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
Who's the other one, Hannah? And who will shields?
Speaker 5 (14:39):
I'll look it up for you. I don't know, but
he's a hat of tweet on that earlier.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Yeah, I got it for a good tweet.
Speaker 6 (14:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
You know who does have a vote, Calvin Wackett, Randall McDaniel,
Calvin Watkins.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Now he got a vote this year. He won't have
a vote next.
Speaker 5 (14:51):
Randall McDaniel and John Hannah are the only seven time
First Team All pros among offensive Now is Randall McDonel
first ballot?
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
John Hannah wasn't I know, Huh he wasn't. I don't
think so.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Zach Martin nine pro Bowls in his eleven seasons all
decade player, So the decade puts you in there, and.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
And he could be in the same eligible class as
Tyrone Smith, just who just went through this last week
with the Jets.
Speaker 8 (15:20):
I don't think Tyro Smith's first ballot. I think Zach
Martin is, though.
Speaker 6 (15:24):
I'm not going to disagree with it.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
I would agree with you there and and and and
obviously Ed you bring up a good point too. Who's
in the class?
Speaker 6 (15:30):
You know, if you're in a you know, the thing
that matters, Doug is who's voting, Meaning as older guys
drop off, if you get too young, there're gonna be
some guy Zach Martin Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yeah, but there'll be a lot of people that would
tell you Zach Martin was.
Speaker 6 (15:46):
And that becomes your campaign.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
Who's who's going to be your presenter of what type
of campaign do you put out there? Who's your Gary
Myers to help push you out?
Speaker 6 (15:52):
I always guys do that thing.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Since we're doing this, and I know we got to
go to a break.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
Don't beat Spielberg. Settled down, man, He'll tell us time
to get their break.
Speaker 8 (16:01):
What's fifteen? What about bringing honor? What's what's one of
these guys going to ring him on? And you know
we look at Dame what not.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
I thought that was part of the criteria that the
criteria's Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Romo Romo and Whittingarn in there yet are they?
Speaker 2 (16:14):
I'm listing.
Speaker 8 (16:14):
I think when we'll get in it would.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
This is a very good conversation we'll have on the
flip side.
Speaker 6 (16:21):

You've got the pre list from pre Jerry of.

Where's where go?
Speaker 6 (19:22):
Yeah? He's in?
Speaker 5 (19:23):
Well yeah called him Marcus Lawrence, Jared.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
Yeah, shoot shoot.
Speaker 9 (19:33):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Jason Whitten, who is going into the Pro Football Hall
of Fame at some point in my opinion. Tony Roman
has been mentioned before by by Jerry.
Speaker 8 (19:44):
Ezekiel Elliott two tim rusting Tam, I know it's crazy,
but but what that's just it.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
There is no criteria Jerry feels about players.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
See, and I always thought it's just me. Tell me
if I'm wrong. I thought the criteria was gold Jackets Bowls.
I thought you had something there.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
It's the criteria. Tell somebody that you want to get
in to hit that criteria, then.
Speaker 8 (20:08):
Yeah, because I think that there are people in the
fan base that the deseril be in.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
But who did Jerry lower that for? Since he's been
putting people in?
Speaker 8 (20:18):
Got Jimmy Johnson, Well he put he put what's it
in to try to help him get to the Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
But he's because he deserved it.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
He deserves it, no doubt. But I got everything super Bowls.
Speaker 8 (20:31):
What I'm saying gold Jacks won't get in until he
goes to the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
Is there anybody up there who hasn't either won a
Super Bowl or been in the profile jar?
Speaker 3 (20:44):
But who Jerry's put in? Jerry Jerry's been doing this.
So for the most part we're talking gold jacket or
super bowls. If Jerry's been putting you, he's probably waiting for.
Speaker 8 (20:52):
What, Well, it ain't it ain't or it's because gold
jackets and super Bowls for the Jerry's guys right now.
Speaker 6 (20:57):
But that's about to change.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
But so he probably got a super Bowl with Dinver though. Hey,
but he got a super Bowl. I'm just I'm just saying,
and he's got a jacket. Man's true, he got the jacket.
But you know that I thought either one, not that
you have both. I thought it was one.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Of the truth is when it's a one man voting committee,
there are no real.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
So yeah, so I think that Witten is a shoe
into the Hall.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
Of Fame and then put his bff and when he
come in, regardss of what he got? Who roma?
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Right? So do you put Romo in? No?
Speaker 6 (21:28):
When you when you when Witten comes in, you can
slide Romo in with him, because Whitton got to go
jacket and.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
He wouldn't have it. Okay, But now if you if
you open the door for Witting, it's one man committed.
I can do what I watching.
Speaker 8 (21:39):
I understand I'm having a conversation. Yes, we're having a conversation.
Opened door for Witting. I'll the overdoor for Romo when
Dak ends his career of teams outside leading past, so
you open the door for him too.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
There that's a great humanitary, faith family fight. I got
no problem. Okay, But but then if you don't look up,
you're gonna be like the Washington Ring of ana other
but ring was number.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Twelve because.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Craig Morton is in the Denver That's what I mean.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
But I'm thinking about Charlie.
Speaker 6 (22:07):
Somebody is in the Denver Ring.
Speaker 5 (22:08):
Of like dude, Charlie Johnson.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Yes, but I'm thinking of Tyr.
Speaker 6 (22:13):
That's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
Who is this guy?
Speaker 6 (22:16):
I looked at it when I say.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
That because I know what it's Denver roots.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
Have I said it long enough?
Speaker 8 (22:20):
You know I'm gonna Zach Martin, Tyron Smith, Jason Whitten
to me, should be based on their success and acclaim
as far as pro bowls and our pros should go
in there.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
They'll be if they're not Hall of famers, which I
think Whitney, Zach R, and I believe the Tyrant has
that resume. All three they will be talked about in
the room. There will be a vote held on all
three of those players. There will be no vote for
Ezekiel Elliet, there will be no vote for Romo, There'll
be no vote for Death.
Speaker 6 (22:52):
They may I didn't get on the ballot.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
There's no ballot.
Speaker 6 (22:56):
I don't think they're gonna get on the back.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Okay, we're talking about ring.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
It's not about he's that's what he's talking about. He's
talking about in the Hall.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Ofkay because no, are you talking at Hall of Fame
with Jerry.
Speaker 6 (23:04):
I'm talking about them in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
Which also as you start to Jerry looks at the
ring of honor that you need Super Bowls or Hall
of Fame a.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
Point of honor. Rouman has already been on the Hall
of Fame ballot.
Speaker 5 (23:16):
He's not been a finalist, No, but he's on a ballot.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
I'm just point from people.
Speaker 9 (23:21):
Right.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
He's about to the point where you're in the room
and you're talking about a Super Bowl about whether they
get or not.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
You ever conversations, Yes, well we call you have to say, Doug,
we'll get in.
Speaker 5 (23:32):
Right reverse as a senior candidate.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Man, Yeah, yes, yeah, that's what I mean, we're having
we're having legitimate conversations, and you're in the room and
and people are like, hey, we need to start making
some phone calls because you're.
Speaker 8 (23:44):
You're you're being logical when it's Jerry Jones making a
decision and I understand your lodge.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
And I'm looking at Jerry's history.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
It's history until the lead changes it.
Speaker 8 (23:55):
Because I'm gonna tell you he gonna think about Rumbo
or whether the way he's the finals or not.
Speaker 2 (23:59):
And I told you, what are you going to do?
Speaker 8 (24:02):
Because I always thought that Rumbo witting and where we're
going together, you know. But I'm telling you he gonna
think about Rumbo. There's there's no question about that. Romo
never got his retirement here in Dallas, never got his Bonvard.
Speaker 6 (24:17):
Best friend gave a job away, his other best friend
didn't stand up for him.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
He gonna think about Rumbo.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
What about Jason Garrett ten years.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Jason's not getting the record that.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Rings, Barry Switzer can't get in and he wanted ring.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
He messing Jimmy's in.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
Get Where were you not in Charlotte?
Speaker 2 (24:42):
That's right, that's right. We got Charlie coming up off
the weirdest decision ever. It was such a it's such
a it was so long.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Yes, you and Todd were very critical that day, very
critical the media.
Speaker 5 (24:52):
So I guess we could say we don't know because
we don't know what Jerry's thought processes, and we don't
know what his personal qualifications are now or what they'll
be three or four years from now, presuming Witton gets
in the Hall of Fame at that.
Speaker 8 (25:04):
But we do believe Whitten and Zach are lit price
shoot shoet shoet to.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Both, and I think Tyron Smith fits that as well.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
I'd be surprised didn't get in Tyren Smith.
Speaker 6 (25:17):
Right, I think hal Famer Ring honor both both both.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
I think that's there, So okay, all right. Interesting to me.
The the ultimate Zach Martin moment, and I talked about
to the last show, is I remember sitting at Channel
five on the draft day and here they are sixteen
and Manziel's out there, and normally the news people don't
(25:45):
come and deal with us on draft day, but it's Johnny.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
It's God to Johnny Football in Dallas.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
And Katie didndas. It's like, if this happens, you're now
the lead We're gonna go blow this thing out for Johnny.
I'm like, all right, let me go put some makeup
on because Jerry, Jerry's gonna do that. He can't help himself.
I went to that Cotton Bowl game where they played Oklahoma,
and they were selling seats in the sprite zone for
five hundred dollars just to come see Johnny football. And
Jerry loves from Johnny, like, man, he's about to do this,
(26:13):
And sure enough it happens and it's Zach Martin and there.
Speaker 8 (26:18):
Was a whole lot of cheering in the media room, like, yes,
what I have to deal with that?
Speaker 5 (26:22):
Miss?
Speaker 3 (26:23):
And the thing I remember I Zach why he was
the MVP of the Pinstripe Bowl as the left tackle
for Notre Dame. Like that's what I remembered about the guy.
And then I watched him at Senior Bowl practice. Me
and Aaron Donald were there and people were like saying,
Mike mayockam, these are two good football players. Like that's
all I knew about Zach Martin, but it was not
Johnny Manziel. And then remember went to training camp and
Jerry was still moaning and groaning about not taking Manzel.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
Don't lay up you know, just in this cave, you
don't hit layup shots. Gotta go.
Speaker 15 (26:51):
Steven and I thought when we interview Zach, why, like, man,
this is really you know, you feel bad for the dude,
like you know, no owners, you're here, but the owner
still crying about it.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
He had a very accomplished career, did Jack Martin if
he never plays again. And the first accomplishment was he
kept Johnny Manzel out of Dallas. Yes we can, we
all go in for that.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
But it's typical Jerry.
Speaker 8 (27:13):
I mean, it's it's just like at twenty sixteen, Jason
Garrett has said, uh, dack at the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Jason Witten said dick of the quarterback.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
Jason Witten says Dak is the quarterbare.
Speaker 8 (27:26):
Week fifteen sixteen seventeen, Jared Jones out of the game.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Oh, I dream of Tony Romo leading us to the
super Bowl. Why are you doing this?
Speaker 5 (27:35):
It's disrespectful to the rookie. You just went thirteen and three, right, Why.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
Are you doing Why are you talking about this?
Speaker 6 (27:42):
Archie?
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Archie was telling me, I remember the Giant game that
year when DAK finally lost the game.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
That was the first game.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
No, it was well, it was it was a second game. Okay,
that was right, Yes, but it was the second but
Rombo was you know, the giant game. Rumbo was hurt,
so Rumbo was available and the Cowboys didn't win it.
Speaker 6 (28:06):
After it was tied, and asked, did you think about
putting Tony in? No, he was just putting his.
Speaker 8 (28:12):
Clients stop, you're so dirty.
Speaker 6 (28:15):
I learned from the way most Trusty darn Wilson was
one of my clients.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
That guys are talking too much. This is bad for journalists. Journalism.
There is enough.
Speaker 16 (28:28):
Clients trying to hit it.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
So reporting line.
Speaker 17 (28:36):
Why do you say time with the ring bear the winning.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
I recused myself from this conversation.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
If you take a break.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
Is this what we're supposed to be talking about?
Speaker 3 (28:54):
So dirty?
Speaker 13 (29:03):

Speaker 3 (31:05):
To media mash, all right, back to the media mash,
Clarance Hill Edwarder, We've got jacqu Taylor, I am new
he Scruggs Okay, Cowboys taking on the Cincinnati Bingles from
Monday night football. Long break for the Cowboys as they
try to win their second straight game at Jerry World
or third straight overall. Cincinnati was favored by six earlier
(31:27):
this week is down at five and a half, Jacques,
who you going witness one?
Speaker 14 (31:31):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (31:31):
I think I think I don't know how the Cowboys,
even though the defense has been playing better, I don't
know how you stopped Joe Burrows and at that offense,
and even if you slow them down, I don't know
that the Cowboys office scoring up. So I like Cincinnati
got to score for him. Oh man, I think it's
something like thirty three twenty four. Most trusted.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
This is a tough on.
Speaker 5 (31:54):
I almost went, I wasn't looking, and he said most trusted.
I almost answered, I'll say Hall of Famer. Now something funny, humorous,
most trusted in Hall of Fame. That's all it's been.
Speaker 13 (32:14):
There.
Speaker 8 (32:14):
You go, interesting game here because we really haven't talked
about the game today, and certainly the Bengals have that
high powered offense and we know what Joe Burrow can do,
and we know what Chase and Higgins and those guys
can do, but we don't talk enough about how bad
that defense is. They took us back today. I think
(32:35):
their linebacker was put on in the reserve.
Speaker 6 (32:38):
Uh, and they had Russell Wilson looking like.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
A super Stuff made Russell Wilson look. Yeah, Russell's cooking
Russell was cooking. The question is can Cooper performed like that?
Speaker 8 (32:51):
That's really not the the avenue you want Cooper to
be performing in. Uh, running the ball, keeping them and
keep away Michael getting out of the quarterback CD.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
I mean trevoron Diggs is doing guilty.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
I'm trying to I'm.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Trying to break down the game. Just a little business.
Speaker 8 (33:10):
We haven't talked about the game and all, trying to
get some game talk.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
I mean, just you just want to go right into
the score. He just score for you.
Speaker 5 (33:18):
Time for me to make my pick.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
We got we got plenty of times. You got you
You do a little for a play first before you score.
Speaker 16 (33:24):
Trying to figure out, oh man, got them up, break
it down, got the prime up, breaking down?
Speaker 3 (33:38):
Trying to sit around here, Dicky Doton, no time for that.
Speaker 6 (33:43):
Bill wats offense.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
Now.
Speaker 17 (33:45):
I've always the Cowboys have talked about winning out and
and certainly building on that momentum if they want to
be legitimized that momentum, building legitimize what they did in
the past two weeks.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Beat Cincinnati, Beat this Bengals team, stop this Bengals office.
Win this game. Cooper Russ go two and zero against
Joe Burrow. Coople Us is beating Joe Burrow before do that?
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Is that where you're picking?
Speaker 2 (34:12):
I'm picking the Bengals.
Speaker 6 (34:16):
I'm just let's the score.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
But I'm just saying it's not just it's this.
Speaker 8 (34:21):
I don't think it's gonna be just the slam dunk
with Cincinnati that we think is gonna be.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
So I picked twenty eight twenty four Bengals.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Nothing can be really entertaining game, Yeah, Hall of Famer Edward.
Speaker 5 (34:34):
I'll try to be a little more concise, but also
offer some analysis as explanation. The Bengals have a three
game losing streak. In that three game losing streak, Joe
Burrow is thrown for one thoy ninety three yards with
ten touchdowns and one interception, but he's also been sacked
ten times and he's fumbled four times. The Bengals have
scored thirty eight, thirty four, and twenty seven points in
(34:56):
those games and lost them all. They have lost four
times when they've scored thirty three or more points this year,
the most of the NFL history.
Speaker 6 (35:06):
The rest of the NFL has lost how many times, like.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
Fifty two and one or something like that in that circumstance.
So I am going to take the Bengals thirty five thirteen.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Wow, he's set it up and inspected it down.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Said, the Bengals defense gonna show you just a lot
of one touchdown.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
The Bengals defense. You trusted the Bengals defense.
Speaker 8 (35:28):
I'm not a touchdown, can't cawboy, that's thirteen points defense
a lot?
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Yeah, so you trusted the Bengals defens gonna shut down
the Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
Now he kind of thinking that the Bengals get off
to a good start. Dallas has to play from behind.
Speaker 5 (35:41):
Have we not seen Dallas get blown out at home?
All years?
Speaker 2 (35:45):
A good team? That's a bad teams.
Speaker 5 (35:47):
These are a good This is a good offensive team.
Joe Burrow should be an MVP candidate.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
Thirty and five.
Speaker 8 (35:53):
Though, if Joe Burrow goes oh and two against Cooper
Russ and they lose to the Cowboys, Taylor won't.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Be coaching then.
Speaker 5 (36:01):
But nobody's picking that to happen. Include do you want
to change your mind?
Speaker 2 (36:04):
And I'm not picking that.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
We do have Thursday night football tonight, Green Bay at
Detroit three and a half point favor for Detroit.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
Hall of Famer.
Speaker 5 (36:14):
I gotta go with the state with the Lions. They're
hurt on defense, Green Bays playing great on offense, but
the Lions at home. Nobody's beating the Lions at home
this year. I will take the Lions by twenty eight
to twenty.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
One, twenty eight, twenty one.
Speaker 5 (36:28):
I'd like to keep track of it.
Speaker 6 (36:30):
Okay, Yeah, we never bring it back up.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Chill Detroit today thirty to twenty four, thirty twenty four JJT, Yeah,
I think it.
Speaker 6 (36:41):
The cribbed the Lions when man thirty four to thirty one.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
I got a question for you guys.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
I had a question too. Do we have the same question?
Speaker 2 (36:50):
No, I doubt it. Who's the best team in NFC
right now?
Speaker 6 (36:54):
Man, I asked you that question this morning. You did Detroit,
So that was my question.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
So it's either the Lions or the Eagles, not Green Bay.
Speaker 8 (37:00):
I mean, I think we were kind of I think
lines and Eagles right I think it's the Lions right now,
but Eagles are playing.
Speaker 6 (37:05):
Well, correct, what's you there? I think the Lions are
because I think until proved otherwise, although it showed me
a little something last week coming back from nine to nothing.
I think the Eagles are a bunch of whiny front runners,
and if they get smacked upside the head, they'll turn
around like they coach and go back home crying to
their mama. Wowa.
Speaker 5 (37:24):
I think the Lions have shown zero flaws to this point.
I think their defense has been much improved. I mean,
Jared Goff had the one weird game against the Texans,
were through five picks and they still didn't lose. So
I like the Lions.
Speaker 6 (37:39):
They're mentally tough team to me.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
By the way, I got green Bay tonight, got green Bay,
green Bay winning tonight here on the road.
Speaker 6 (37:46):
Got green Bay winning.
Speaker 9 (37:47):
On the road.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
Green Ba can run the ball. They got a chance.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Thirty one, twenty seventh. Lions facing some injuries here, not
gonna have left tackle deck. By the way, last week,
just so we have our last time we had a
media mash Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (37:59):
Was it Cleveland?
Speaker 3 (38:00):
You took Pittsburgh, ed, you took Pittsburgh, Chill, you took Pittsburgh.
Then Dallas and Washington. I took Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
Okay, we're all wrong. We could all be losers together.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
And then uh, Dallas at Washington.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
I can't remember, well, I took Washington.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yeah, you had you had it thirty four to nine Washington.
Ed had a thirty twenty eight ten Washington chill. You
had thirty to ten Washington, and I had Washington too.
Speaker 6 (38:27):
So what was your score?
Speaker 5 (38:29):
So we went over eight last the last time.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
We picked, My score is twenty three to ten.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
That's why Washington no money bet, so over eight. You said,
you know, you know, we don't bring it up. So
I just brought it up for you, just make you
feel good.
Speaker 5 (38:41):
You should have You should have picked another week.
Speaker 2 (38:43):
Kept that one.
Speaker 6 (38:44):
There you go, what you got.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
You had a question, Now that was a question.
Speaker 6 (38:47):
Was n question for you? Yes, sir Ryan, they gonna
make it. You know you did good though, I mean
you spend honest time. You didn't. You didn't pick up
my scab. It's not a scab. I mean because I
am one of those who I'm not a I'm not
a one game person. I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
I would like to look at the bigger picture of
this thing. And yes, I understand I was not little high.
I was there during the Cooper year, so I get
what it is. But that guy's did a good job,
done a good.
Speaker 6 (39:15):
Job, He's won some big games, had a kick. It
not mister forty five yard field goal in the Dome,
he'd the won a Natty. But you know you have
to be close. They were. They was at the end
of the game.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
They don't.
Speaker 6 (39:27):
Don't play with me about that. If you would, you
do it. I don't think he wants to coach for
college football.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Four straight losses against your rival.
Speaker 8 (39:39):
It happens, man, I know, I know that colors his
tenure in your it covers.
Speaker 6 (39:45):
I'm not a I'm not a over the top fanatic.
I'm a realist. So now I will tell y'all that
truly was the worst game plan I've ever seen. And
I'm not really a guy who talks about game playing stuff,
but Michigan got one strength. Really they too defensive tackles.
Why you would run in between the tackles and what
was Chip Kelly call? What was Ship Kelly doing? Man?
(40:06):
I just so that was a bad game plan. And
it's clear right now that they got a mental thing
against Michigan. And so they can play free now because
everybody thinks they suck. And so if you want to
impress somebody and go make some noise in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
So I remember that that year that they played Georgia.
They lost. Ryan Day's family didn't go home. They took
him to a because the mental center. No, it's death
threats that they actually took the family. Now we can't
say that. And then they go on that run and
except field goal away from playing TC the national championship
and you know, probably a championship. So but I would
(40:43):
not get rid of Ryan Day.
Speaker 6 (40:44):
That's just me. I always have to have a better answer,
and not just a hope of the prayer, but a
better answer. You know what this is? Can I get
Dan Landing from No, you can't.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
But uh, this is what I would say, And Clarence
understands it. Mac Brown went through some she went through
some challenges in Texas and eventually he won. And I
look at Ryan Days you and I think Ryan Day's
a better coach and it's had more success kind of
looking at what he's been doing since he was Ohio
State than mac Brown. Now, obviously erber Mayer left him
a whole lot, but I just think that there's something
(41:13):
to be said for keeping people who are doing some
significant winning and at some point time they can break through.
Speaker 6 (41:18):
We saw mac Brown break through.
Speaker 5 (41:20):
Yeah, it's a different game.
Speaker 6 (41:21):
Then you know everybody you know different different times. But
it's much like Cowboy fans. You expect you supposed to
win a national championship every year.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Who's your next quarterback?
Speaker 8 (41:30):
I mean because you mc brown broke through because of
Vince Young, and you guys went and got a quarterback,
got the portal this year, got Kansas State. It was
not a franchise type quarterback. Do you have that guy?
Speaker 2 (41:42):
I ain't that deep, so you don't have one on
the roster.
Speaker 6 (41:45):
No, I mean I don't. I don't know. I'm not
that deep. I'm not Albert Breer. Albert Brin can tell
you it too deep at every spot.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
I'm let's get him in here.
Speaker 2 (41:55):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 6 (41:57):
No, I don't think they don't.
Speaker 2 (42:01):
But you don't have You don't have arts, manic is
what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (42:03):
You don't have the Nah. We got Devin Brown, who
wears thirty three any after Sammy Ball, though.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
You got a quarterback wearing thirty.
Speaker 6 (42:14):
Three after Sammy Baugh. Real time, you know.
Speaker 8 (42:20):
These young kids got to be you know, they don't
even know who Samon Ball is. I don't think they
got YouTube with Sammy Baum.
Speaker 10 (42:26):
That's why he where is thirty three with Zach Martin
in the show here with Zach Martin going on, ir
is this more ammunition that McCarthy can take to Jerry
as he gets ready to make his decision at the end,
and say, hey man, look, you know some challenges with
the way the roster was constructed, and then I had
a lot of injuries to some key players, you know,
Miss Michael Parsons, Miss Dak Prescott, Doron Blenniggs.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
Yeah, I'm gonna let you hurt my team. He had
answered this, Herb, the team hurt the team real bad.
Speaker 5 (42:55):
I'm gonna say that. Jerry's already said that's not going
to be a factor. And when he said, we've only
won three ball games with that.
Speaker 6 (43:02):
Playing, Okay, what are the odds he comes back? Because
Troy seems to think there's a chance he comes back.
What odds would you give him coming back?
Speaker 5 (43:12):
Give him almost none if you didn't do something in
the playoffs, But it is odd all of a sudden,
Jerry's very public about his I don't know his the
praise he's offered for McCarthy as a coach, I don't
think it's I don't think it's anything close to the
worst thing they could do.
Speaker 6 (43:29):
I don't know how you bring him.
Speaker 5 (43:31):
What are the alternatives?
Speaker 6 (43:32):
Well, I say it in this like, Okay, even if
you want to bring him back, what deal do you
give him?
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Do you say one year?
Speaker 6 (43:41):
Do you say, hey, Mike, I got one year deal
for you.
Speaker 5 (43:43):
Don't don't forget he's a free agent. He could leave
of his own volition.
Speaker 6 (43:48):
If you say something, that would be the funniest thing, like, hey.
Speaker 5 (43:50):
It could happen. What if what if Jerry offers him
a two year deal and New Orleans offers him a
five year deal He's gonna leave?
Speaker 6 (43:57):
That would be the funniest thing.
Speaker 8 (43:59):
Thing is It's just it's just it's more the media content.
It's where you know, it's all about content. Because two
weeks ago, the middle of five Gay Street, the question was,
are you gonna fire in the middle of the season. Okay,
you're gonna find No, I'm not firing minute. I've never
made it. I'm not doing I regretted firing way Fills
the middle of season.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
I'm not firing.
Speaker 8 (44:20):
Now he wears two games and these courts are it
would it be crazy for bringing back what.
Speaker 2 (44:27):
One of those Gerry refused to.
Speaker 8 (44:30):
Say, I'm gonna fire men, So why what do you not?
I mean, he's gonna say what he's gonna say until
the season is well.
Speaker 5 (44:36):
Michaeh. Parsons in the locker room today talked about he
liked to run it back, is probably not gonna happen, right,
He said he'd like to run it back with Dak
and d Long, Zach Martin. He didn't mention Mike McCarthy
this time. He's learned to keep that name out of
his mouth. I think hard way.
Speaker 2 (44:52):
I'm just saying if you don't, but can you do that?
Speaker 5 (44:54):
Like?
Speaker 6 (44:54):
Can can you?
Speaker 14 (44:56):
Like?
Speaker 5 (44:56):
Most people thought you should have fired him after the
Green Bay Green Bay playoff loss, that debacle, and they
didn't do it. They brought him back. So now, if
you finish whatever it's going to be, if another losing season,
if that happens, how are you gonna justify that to
your fan base? Most of the fan base wants Jerry
to be fired. That's not gonna happen for sure. So
(45:18):
does he have to give him McCarthy as a concession
or can you just roll it back?
Speaker 6 (45:23):
This is gonna be fun stuff.
Speaker 3 (45:25):
Well until then, we've got a Monday night game, and
I guess the Simpsons are going to be doing something
the Simpsons as you watch the game on ESPN Plus
or whatever in a Manning cast, And so there you go,
a whole lot of entertainment around this game too.
Speaker 5 (45:39):
Losing teams you get something baby four and seven, five
and eight.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
Hey, you know Thanksgiving Day they had a hell of
a number. So a lot of people watch, so you
know something about I'm.
Speaker 5 (45:49):
Sure that made Jerry feel good. Jerry cares about that.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
Most watched for most trusted, Clarence Hill fake show, dead
fakes show, did faked show?
Speaker 2 (45:58):
Did you said the blown out last night?
Speaker 6 (46:01):
Did you see James Worthy's comments?
Speaker 3 (46:02):
Oh my god, JJ Reddick, Well, good luck with that,
Edward or Hall of Fame. I appreciate you, the author,
Jean Jack Taylor Man, thank you so much for Chris, Bean, Jazz, Josh.
Speaker 6 (46:11):
