Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's
a vegeinal podcast Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. I got a
box delivered to my office today. I said, what the
(00:21):
hell is this? It was so it'd be really nice
to hear how you liked them, and how Alex liked
them in particular. I guess Alex is a big user
of soap.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
So why did I make the realization that this might
be an ash of ceremony? My good friend Dawn, who's
having the time of his life, cranks the opening to
life in the fast Lane.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
I edged a mulch bed yesterday.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
It was very satisfying. It's an old house, long story.
They nailed through a part of the house that didn't
have an installation, so the nails came right through into
this closet area, so you know, they didn't know. I
didn't blame them, so I said, I'll fix it. Ex
give me a letter, release me from these mortal coils.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Yes, Father Fred?
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Was that a father fredline?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
No?
Speaker 1 (00:59):
That's Shakespeare's Hamlet.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
How you could have you might have heard of him.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Some people don't like to have your soap through another membrane.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Jillette Stadium.
It's been hot out there. I don't think they didn't
forecast this one. It just got hot and muggy.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
It's the humidity, yeah it is.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
It's the humidity, but it's also hot.
Speaker 5 (01:33):
And it's humid and hot until like ten pm. Even
at the concerts the last two nights it was it
was sweltering.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah. I'll take the heat over the cold any day.
Speaker 6 (01:45):
Even the humidity.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I'm not complaining. I'm just saying it's hot. It is.
It's Alex, it's me, it's Matt and Nabooth. Evan is
still getting married. Deuce is probably down at the Cape right.
I don't know where it is.
Speaker 7 (01:57):
His last two days.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
He was looking forward to. Told me on Tuesday that
he was not going to be here. Thursday Friday was
his last two days.
Speaker 7 (02:04):
That is time ago.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
This is it Smoke them while you got them, yep,
you know. So it's the three of us holding down
the fort. We'll be talking all things Patriots and everything
else on this Thursday here at chi Let's Stadium. So
you went to cold Play? I did?
Speaker 6 (02:21):
I went Tuesday night?
Speaker 1 (02:22):
You went Tuesday night? Were you on the kiss cam
at all? I was not.
Speaker 5 (02:28):
Wanted rotten myself into that much trouble if I want.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Do you hear about what's going on there? Who hasn't
two people.
Speaker 7 (02:36):
Got things the kids keep me up to.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Yeah, you know, Coldplay did some crowd work the night
I was there too.
Speaker 6 (02:43):
Our crown work was a little less eventful, but.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Uh yeah, yeah, you know, it's probably not a great
look to uh be making out with your head of
HR if you're married with kids.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
You're the CEO.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
And what are the odds of that? Was our stadium
capacity for a concert?
Speaker 1 (03:03):
It's going to be sixty Well, it depends on the configuration,
but I think probably had at least fifty thousand last.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
Right, you block out the season behind the stage, so
of all people that they could have shined a light on,
I guess that just shows to how affectionate they were.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Pure.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
It also shows how many people were having an affair.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
To have Chris Martin call out your fair.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Shows that, why not, like it's maybe it's not so random.
Maybe every other person that you show is involved in
some type of thing.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
For those who haven't seen the video, a couple was
caught by Cold Play. They're doing crowd work and they
instantly duck out of the screen, and then Chris Martin,
the lead singers, like, oh, they must be having an
affair or they're really shy, and then they kind of
go on with the concert, and then you know, TikTok
did its thing.
Speaker 6 (03:54):
They found out what company.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
We don't need to talk about what, but yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
That part I don't really like, Yeah, I mean we
all sorry. They showed it to me this morning and
I was like, oh wow, I guess you could make
an argument that they were embarrassed, but then it went
on too long and you're like, no, that's definitely an affair,
but like you don't, like you really.
Speaker 7 (04:16):
Have to go and do the research right and out.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Them and make it worse for them, Like if.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
He was really having an affair, which clearly he was,
the people that need to know, no, but they people
that know him said no, that ain't just white.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
It's bad enough for them. They're not breaking any laws.
So let's let's, you know, let's relax on the you know,
junior detective work.
Speaker 5 (04:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
But anyway, so that that was happening, But the concert
was I just.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
Chilled and like not drawn attention to themselves. No one
would have posted it, right, I was just like, Oh,
nice cute couple.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
How was Coldplay?
Speaker 6 (04:51):
Phenomenal?
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Yeah, top three show I've ever been to, really top
three shows.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
That's high, high praise.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
They just have so many like really great songs where
I don't know, it's always been a goal of mine
to go to a cold Play show since middle school.
I've they have like three of my favorite songs ever
in existence, So I don't know, they just they put
on a great show. The production was amazing. It was
(05:17):
like almost like Taylor Swift caliber to me, production level wise.
But they just have so many great songs, and you
have the really like slow jams that are like these
beautiful ballads, and then you have these like Calvin Harris
like house hits that the whole place was just rocking
and dancing and it was awesome.
Speaker 6 (05:38):
Yeah, post concert depression.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
I'm trying to figure out if I know three cold
Play songs.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I'm sure you do.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
You definitely do if you heard that. Yeah, so definitely
Vata yellow.
Speaker 7 (05:50):
And there's a.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
Sky full of Stars something just like this?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Is that a song?
Speaker 7 (05:56):
That's a song just like this?
Speaker 5 (05:57):
Yeah, just like this.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
So there's two I know.
Speaker 7 (06:02):
The names of songs.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Yeah, like I know that that yellow is a song.
I think clocks might be a so I don't know
the songs though he.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Didn't play They didn't play talk, which was the one
thing I was a little sad about early one.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
But kind of a deep cut.
Speaker 7 (06:19):
All right, well did you go, Freddy? No, that sounds
like a show that you would have been.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Interested now, too hot, too many people.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
You don't have to be that. You don't have to
be with the hoy ploy would have been in the
suite or something.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Come on, No, I don't need it.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
But you're not a huge there.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
There's very few bands that I'm willing to go to
a big concert for these days.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
But now that we're no longer added on Sunday nights,
you can do that. Yeah, that was a classic fred
The police were at Fenway Park.
Speaker 7 (06:50):
We used to have to do all the work on
the on the paper.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
It's a pre season.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Game after you know, after the game was over, you
know on a Sunday night. Yeah, you guys got which
No one cared about what we just like to bust
his balls over.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
No, it was it was cool police on Fenway, you know,
Fenway Park. It was. It was a great show.
Speaker 6 (07:11):
I'm sure it was a cool venue.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
And they're good at musicians, they're really good musicians, so
it was. It was a good show. I think the
last concert I went to I went to the jay
Z Beyonce one Beyonce. Yeah, was that the last concert
I've been to two years ago? It might be. I
(07:34):
think it was longer than two years ago.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
We're going to continue our little pop culture segment here
to open the show. See that story about Beyonce like
choreographer or someone getting a case stolen out of their
car that had supposedly never released footage songs, never released
works for Beyonce, No.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Really supposedly stolen.
Speaker 7 (07:58):
Well, yeah, sometimes it.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Doesn't pass my sniff test. That's why I brought it up. Yeah,
I don't know exactly why, so you guys can you know,
I don't have a specific thing.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
It just did they get released? No, so maybe it
was If they get released, then it was probably a
setup for publicity.
Speaker 7 (08:17):
Well, that's where I think it's heading something like that.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
I don't know exactly how, but it just doesn't seem
like why would the choreographer have something that was so
like specifically special to Beyonce that it was.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
Charlie's music.
Speaker 7 (08:35):
Yeah, it doesn't really make sense to me.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yeah, all right, but maybe it's just just you know, coincidence.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
But anything going on Patriots to cover before.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
We uh continue Patriots whise we might? I mean nothing
specific right now, I think we could. I think Mike
mentioned on Tuesday we could get some news. I would
think tomorrow with people starting to the big.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
News tomorrow is that episode two of Forge and Foxborough
gets dropped.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Highly anticipated.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
I'll be remiss if I didn't include out at the
top of the that's the big news tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
But as you said, guys are arriving starting tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I do want to apologize to everyone. I was not
able to be part of this episode because I was
on vacation when they needed me, So I apologize in advance.
It's still well worth watching episode two dropping tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
We were thinking it's sending a crew to the golf
course where you were, but.
Speaker 7 (09:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
I have no idea where I was, but I was
like the whole segment.
Speaker 7 (09:37):
I got attack any change you could be in tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, no, Paul teeing off. Yeah, I think Rabel's gonna
have it, obviously.
Speaker 7 (09:47):
I'm kidding.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
I don't understand how people thought we were releasing that
every week. Like I like to read through.
Speaker 6 (09:53):
The comments of our stuff sometimes.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
And people were like, what happened to every single week?
And it was like, when did we ever say that
we're probably will we be what content would we be?
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Probably another fan at the time we release episode once
it oh, they're great, this is gonna be like Hard Knocks.
And somebody read that, and hard Knocks is every week,
and so they took what the fans said is what
was happening.
Speaker 6 (10:13):
Yes, someone ran with that.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Yeah, No, we don't have a staff like NFL Films
to do this.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Every week, right and like, the guys haven't been here.
What would we be even covering right now?
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Right right now? Nothing? But it's gonna get it's gonna
heat up. It's gonna heat up next week. Yeah, twenty third,
our first show, our first live show. We're gonna be
out there covering the first day of public practice. So
can't wait for that.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
I can't believe it's here already. I know, less than
a week tough.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
I did see ESPN came out with their lists that
they do where they kind of anonymously like gms and
like team executives, like who they're top ten because by
position he had, Gonzo.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Finally got some some love. Well, I mean it's not
the first one, but it's the most significant. Gonzo was
I believe six.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
Six I think, And someone said they think he's probably
like the next Patrick's retain.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
So that's kind of cool.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
So that you know, you asked, you know, Patriots News,
I would say that's probably the newest bit of information help.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
Yeah, yeah, that's good.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Uh, you know, good for Gonzo to be recognized, you know,
after having a solid year two.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
I kind of like it when he was under the radar.
Now he's like now you you get on these lists
and expectations, expectations. Yeah, you know, not that they shouldn't.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
You think he's not going to live up to his expectation. No,
I just curse Colin, No I sold on Gonzales.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
I just I like, you know, working with the freedom
of not having them. But I guess that's what comes
with being one of the best at his craft.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Well, yeah, I mean he was a second team All Pro.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
I know.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
I don't think really think he's under the radar. He
had played one full season and he was a second
team all I know.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
But now he's getting on these lists and everything.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
Also, like after I think it was his first game
where no, maybe we didn't play Miami. We played Miami
early in the season his first season, and Tyreek Hill
was on podcasts that next week really hyping him up, saying,
like the rookie is I remember that night.
Speaker 7 (12:18):
It was a Sunday night game week two.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, yep, we knew that already. L L from Wisconsin
has a quick question. Who took the bigger risk you
for hiring Paul or Paul for coming to work for you.
I think that's a that's an awesome Paul for coming
to work here. Definitely the bigger risks.
Speaker 7 (12:35):
But I love the email because it's very topical.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Yeah, you know that that whole thing with the owner
in Belichick. Both of what they say is true, but
there's a lot of yeah butts would both of these say,
and so Belichick took his chances at the big Yeah,
butts with what Craft said, you know, yeah, there's a
lot of yeah butt. But with Belichick there's a lot
(13:00):
of yeah butts too. I like how he says, you know,
I had to straighten out their financial stuff and they
were the lowest in cash spending over the last twenty years.
But he also says that when he got there, they
were ten million over the cap, you know, spending like
drunken sailors. Like he had a lot to do with
not spending as much as Craft did when he was here.
(13:20):
You know, like locker room hierarchy in terms of contracts
was very important to Belichick.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
So I liked the you know, I had a lot
of people telling me, a lot of you know, a
lot of former coaches telling me.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
I guess who wonder that.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
I wonder who might have told him it might not
be a great job to take, right right.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
I feel like that didn't really need This is no
disrespect to Belichick, but I feel like he didn't need
to clap back at that. I don't think Robert was
really disrespectful at all.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
I think it was actually I think he didn't mean
it to be disrespectful. I think he was asked the question,
what was your in your opinion, your biggest move. Yeah,
And I think the biggest move he made as head
as owner was giving up a first round pick for
a coach who had no success as a head coach
(14:11):
so far.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
And Robert ended the thought with saying, and he ended
up with us for twenty something years. So I think
it turned out pretty good.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
And he's giving.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
Himself credit for which is fine, But that's the whole
point of what was your best move? So I get that.
So like I kind of agree, like it really wasn't
necessary to clap back. I don't think it was, you know,
but like, there's no doubt it was a risk for
both of them.
Speaker 7 (14:38):
Can I run the risk of being the homer here
like she was?
Speaker 3 (14:41):
It was a far greater risk for Craft, I think,
And I think everything Belichick said was probably factually correct, right,
He had some risk too. You don't often get more
than two chances, so he had to choose wisely that
second time around. Well, I'm not I don't think anything
that Bill said was wrong, but it was a far
bigger risk think on on Robert's part because of the
(15:04):
reputation that Belichick.
Speaker 7 (15:05):
Had at the time.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
You guys were killing everybody.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Was killing on right. You know, my guy, one of
my favorite guys who's ever covered the Patriots is Kevin Mannings.
I've said this few million times, called him duplicit as
Ponds gone Belichick. Yes, yes, that was the reaction of
hiring this guy who had just sort of had this
public meltdown, you know, in walking away from the Jets.
His track forget all all of that, his track record
(15:31):
was with the Browns was not good. No, there were
a lot of people that didn't think that was a
good hire, and that was a big risk. And to
not only hire him, but to do so having to
give up everything they had to give up just to
get the rights to him.
Speaker 7 (15:44):
Yep, it was a lot of risk that assume.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
So yeah, I, like Paul said, both of what they
said is all factually correct. But like Alex said, I
don't think it was necessary to Yeah a little bit.
Well it's a little.
Speaker 7 (16:01):
Bit you disrespect him a little bit.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah. So anyway, Yeah, but good email by Elle to
bring that up contextually.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Yeah, but yes, I took the bigger risk.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah, Mowen New York and had got already made star
Mowen New York and Vermont about the Beyonce thing. The
reason I wrote in is because of the stolen case
out of Beyonce's ch choreographer's car. The reason Paul's spidey
sense is tingling is because something like eighty percent of
these things are inside jobs. That's what fact. It happened
(16:37):
to em and m ears perking up in the other room.
A year ago, a long time trusted employee stole unreleased
music from a safe in the studio, ultimately came to
a conclusion when the FBI caught him red handed trying
to sell it.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah, this is either one of two things. One might
be what you said the first thing, which is like,
you know, Beyonce's not quite I mean not just it's
not a big deal, but not quite what she once was.
I don't think the country thing sort of hit with everybody, right,
So it might be an effort to you know, kind
of like that washed up soap star like that goes
in and someone planted it, Ah Dad, Alex Francisco and everybody.
Speaker 6 (17:16):
It's like how celebrities call the paparazzis on themselves.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Correct, they drum up some hype. Or it could just
be the inside job, which was the first thing. That
I thought of is that, Yeah, because I don't know.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
What stealing and trying to sell it.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
I don't know how you can sell it, Like you'd
have to sell it to someone who never wants to.
Speaker 6 (17:33):
There's a market. How do you monitor you just playing
black market for everything?
Speaker 8 (17:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Right, you have to get someone that's not ever planning
on producing it, because then they're just gonna get caught.
Speaker 9 (17:43):
When the engineer stole eminem stuff, he sold it to
a third party who then put it out as like
a mixtape one hundred and twenty unreleased songs.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
But how do they You can't make any money off
of it. The DJ started selling that stuff and then
I got it.
Speaker 7 (17:56):
That's how they got caught.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
Okay, Yeah, you can't start selling it and get away
with it.
Speaker 7 (18:02):
Yeah that's my point.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Yeah, but yeah, like it was something like what the
email I just said, like it just didn't pass the
sniff test. It seemed like an inside kind of thing
or you know, I think Fred has something that could
be even more like just it was intentional to drum
up more publicity as they're getting get ready to.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Then she gets them back and it's like, okay, I'll
release them, you know, let's see Ryan and Quincy wide
receiver talk. Wants to talk about Terry McLaurin. Personally, I
think our wide receiver room already looks better than last year,
but adding a guy like scary Terry would take it
to another level. What's the most you'd be willing to
(18:44):
trade to bring him in? I know this been talked about.
I think the Commanders would be absolutely crazy to get
rid of him, Like you're on, like you got something
going here? Why would you do that at this time?
Speaker 3 (18:58):
I think that would be stupid unless he's to the
point where he just does not want to play there
anymore and he's going to cause a problem, and it's
one of the wis like Miami just did with Jalen Ramsey,
like well, he's not going to play for us, we
might as well get something.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
But if he doesn't want to play there because of money,
give him the money.
Speaker 7 (19:12):
No, I would too.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
Yeah, And I feel like it has to be money,
because why wouldn't. They're a really young, exciting team with
a really promising quarterback. I can't imagine it being anything
but money.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Well, he wants to ownership, and I mean, yeah, quarterbacks
on a rookie quarterback. Now's the time to give it
back on a rookie quarterback. Yeah, I mean a rookie contract.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Rookie contract, but that is uh, you know you were
looking for other Patriots related items. That's another one. I
think Albert Breer had an item saying that the Patriots
had interest, but you know it was definitely couched, you know,
if in fact he would be available, which tells me
that it's really not really been any Yeah, well yet,
(19:54):
so yeah, i'd i'd be absolutely interested in getting Terry McLaurin.
And yes, the wide receiver room is better than it
was last year, but not bye by much.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Well, it's it's really all the same people with digs.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Well I would count Kyle Williams as in a group,
but like I don't like, I'm just going by last year. Well,
they had a second round wide receiver last year coming
in that everybody was was high on too, So I'm
not going to get lost in the third round pick
and Kyle Williams until he's actually that. You know, everybody
last spring told me that Jalen Polk was x Y
(20:29):
and he'll be fine, he'll be fine, and I didn't
see it. Got mocked and ridiculed as I want to
do Alex that's want with an oh want yes, yeah,
the glossary yes.
Speaker 7 (20:44):
But I would, I would.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
We talked a little bit on Tuesday about what would
we give up for McLaurin.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
I I would go all in on that one.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
Give a first.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
I'd give it first if I had to.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
I mean, obviously you would you if you wanted to
do it, because.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
And I would give him an that's part of the deal.
But I don't want to do this as like a rental.
I want I want him. I think he's a really,
really good player.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
What do you think about the Jets? They give Wilson
the contract, then the next day they give saus Gardner
the contract.
Speaker 7 (21:14):
They're very Unjets like.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
Yeah, but they're trying to send the message to their team.
In fan base, we're all in, I guess.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
So, Yeah, the drama has been down for the Jets,
and I don't know if this is I'm going to
give Aaron Glenn credit until I see them play and
then they look like the same old Jets, right, But
until then, I'm going to give him credit because this
has been a very atypical Jets offseason.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Truly.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Uh, Todd has a little of the good old Who Slash?
What is the best Who Slashed? The off season edition?
Robin Williams or Tom Hanks as an actor.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
Wow, that's totally different kinds.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
I think Tom Hanks has had better role.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
I think Tom Hanks is probably a better actor. I
think Robin Williams is probably a more talented individual.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
Just played some really beloved characters too.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
But into my head, Eric or Andy as host for
the post game Andy Andy? Okay? In ground pool or
beach house.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
Beach house yeah, Italian, beach investment.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Yeah, I take the beach.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
I want beach house.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Like my dream is to go to bed listening to
the way. Yes, like I'll never I'll never.
Speaker 5 (22:31):
Get some French stores or like sliders that you can
have a screen, have that breeze come in.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Give me that all day? Yeah? Italian or Chinese food?
Speaker 6 (22:42):
Italian?
Speaker 7 (22:43):
Oh, Italian.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Yeah. Deuce or Paul as a ping pong partner.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
Deuce, I'm going to guess that he's good at that.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
I feel like Deuce would be very surprisingly, really good ping.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Pong, probably like one of his cousins.
Speaker 7 (22:56):
I really like playing ping pong, But I.
Speaker 5 (22:59):
Feel like the hawk sticks skill set stick handling might
transfer well to ping pong.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
I just feel like Deuce is good at all of
those sort of corky.
Speaker 6 (23:08):
Things and athletic.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
And this one's a layup Alex or Evan as your
super Bowl party coordinator. It's gotta be Alex. I mean
Evan would be like what would he.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
Do in another life? I think I would party right right?
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Yeah? Fred or Paul on Jeopardy. Oh that's Paul god Jeopardy. Yeah,
you'd kill me.
Speaker 7 (23:32):
It's not Patriots Jeopardy. U way more than I do.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I don't know. I'm not I'm not quick, that's true.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
Half of it is bringing the buzzer.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
I do really like Jeopardy, But in fairness, I would
I have a flame out.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
I forget to say that what is and who is? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (23:51):
Or you would just you would have the right answer
in your head. But what comes that.
Speaker 7 (23:55):
Happens to me?
Speaker 1 (23:56):
I have my problem. I have that issue.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
Like I'll look at Beth and I'll say, well, that's
what I meant, and she knows like when I'm yes,
like actually I was, I was on it, but I
don't say the right thing.
Speaker 6 (24:07):
Yeah, you guys have that thing going on too.
Speaker 7 (24:10):
There was one.
Speaker 5 (24:11):
You speak Fred, and Fred speaks Paul.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
I think you would beat me in jeopardy. I think
you have a far greater breath of knowledge than I. Well,
Eric would be a little about it lot, Come on, right,
I know a little about a lot. If Fred knows everything, I.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Don't know about that, Matt or Alex in the booth
when an earthquake occurs in the booth you mean like
a broadcast.
Speaker 10 (24:34):
Booth or that booth like oh the other Okay, oh Matt,
I mean no, no disrespect to Alex, but I want
the experience.
Speaker 5 (24:46):
I was first.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
We should call him, just call him by his name,
A everybody's called him since we were kids. Plus, if
it's an earthquake, I want to I want to be
with marine, you know, lead me to safety.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Yeah, yeah, you know what.
Speaker 7 (24:59):
I yeah, we don't want East.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
Yeah, that's no offense to Alex. I just think Mass
probably been trained in these.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Absolutely. I like the game though, Robin the Pacific Northwest.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Let's just say Drake plays as well as Matt Castle.
What is the Patriots record.
Speaker 7 (25:24):
As well as Matt Castle?
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Eight and nine?
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Ish? Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 (25:30):
They don't have the kind of roster that they.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Had for Matt Castle, it might even might even might
not even be that good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And then
you can say, well, what do you think the Patriots
record is? And that's about what I think the Patriots
will be with Drake May too, So I you know,
it's kind of caught me there.
Speaker 5 (25:48):
Six or seven.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Yeah, Okay, let's see Barton poland why does Paul think
that Terry McLaurin would cost a firs. He's thirty and
while a great wide receiver close to the top ten
to fifteen range than top five. Twenty seven year old
DK Metcalf went for a second. AJ Brown went for
(26:10):
a first, but he was twenty five at the time.
Twenty eight year old Tyreek Hill went for a late
first and additional picks, but he was probably the best
wide receiver in football at that time. The point is
that the trade values of players are almost never what
we think they are. I think McLaurin goes for a second,
and even a third wouldn't surprise me.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
Okay, bart is very much right about trade values are
never what you think they are. Yeah, were always a
little bit less. I think that's a good rule of thumb.
I would just say that he's more AJ Brown than
DK Metcalf. He's a better player than DK Metcalf by
a lot in my view, just.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
My view, yep.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
And his age is accurate. AJ Brown was much younger
than McLaurin at the time of the potential trade. But yeah,
I mean I think probably a second at minimum, all right,
But i'd be But the question was what would you
be willing to give up? And I would say first,
if that's what it takes, Like, I think a lot
(27:11):
of the player and I would I would give up
the significant resource to get them.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Travis in West Virginia says, or asks, can we impose
a moratorium on listeners asking where to eat, where to stay,
what to do? Have these people not heard of the internet?
Kind of a good point, but they But sometimes you
want an opinion of someone who you kind of know,
and people kind of know us.
Speaker 6 (27:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Yeah, a word of mouth or.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
A fred or even.
Speaker 6 (27:45):
From last week.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
But if Alex thinks like a certain restaurant is worth
going to, I think that that would speak more than
if I did, because Alex has a much more sophisticated
palette than I do.
Speaker 6 (27:58):
It depends who's asking to you.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
No, that's true. You know, that's all that will be.
A friend who's asking.
Speaker 1 (28:04):
Also, Travis, as I want to do, says, I would
like to point out that the Pew Newsletter Email of
the Week was once again a thirteen thousand word essay,
which should automatically disqualify it. Well, that definitely disqualifies it
from being read on the show. But yeah, hey, you
don't have to read it if you don't want to write.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
I mean, but everybody reads it. The numbers are what
the numbers are.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
I'm talking about the week.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
It's the email of the week.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Yeah, yeah, okay, well I'm waiting for some quip.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
No, I'm moving on forwards me good emails and we
pick one.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Yeah, okay, I try. I was, I was asking how that.
I was sort of wondering how that that's determined.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
On Friday, she says, you got an email of the week,
and then I go, shoot, I haven't done it yet.
Then I go back to all the emails. You get stuck,
and I sometimes I scan them on and I just
send what.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Sometimes in the moment he'll send one my way on
like a Tuesday and be like, good potential.
Speaker 7 (29:05):
For Yeah, that's see, that's what you should do.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
That's what I should do.
Speaker 7 (29:08):
That's what you should like. You know what, when you
see it.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
You want to take that over. No, okay, I'm.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Taking enough the season. I'm already on it.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
I'm ranting again today.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Let's see, let's go to the hotline eight five five
pats five hundred. Deshaun's in Virginia. What's up to Shawn?
Speaker 11 (29:30):
Oh god, how you guys doing? Confident?
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Okay?
Speaker 11 (29:34):
Good good? I'm the one that play about to find that.
It's my beat I have with faith for right now,
it's like this awful of dialogue about Jarry mccon potentially
coming here because I have to fish this descrivors resisting
it's some problem to the point they won't be least
competitive enough at least do over enough for the defense
(29:54):
that people expect them to have. It's not happening, guys.
I's kind of like, see, hell, you guys, whatever the
page that I do want to shoot number of kids
they have to go out and actually draft one, And
you know, I get in that they won't be able
to get one this year. So I was basically thinking,
like they won't probably be as bad enough to get
at first or get a top ten fit come next draft.
(30:16):
But I was thinking, like they may have to sacrifice
twenty twenty seventh first round picked. I didn't want to
move to try to get a Stoker receiver, and this
coming year's draft that's twenty six because they're not gonna
get one because of find out that the wide receiver
box would be like full of Ward's tired or like
looking at for a time at home if you look
at the receiver op gonna be on next year in
(30:37):
free agency. That's all I have to say.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Okay, thanks, I just would push back a little bit
on how high you have to pick to get the
number one receiver.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
I mean, there's one plenty a second. You just got
to pick the right one, right.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Yeah, you know, but I think that that position in general.
Speaker 7 (30:55):
Is really blowing up in college.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
I think we're getting to the point where it's like
four or five I've you know, as many as eight
quality receivers are getting taken almost every draft.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
Yep, you know, is Nico Collins a number one receiver?
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Should be? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (31:12):
You know, just right off the top of my head,
Pooka Nakou as a number one receiver And okay, those
guys are anomalies when you know, I think Nicou is
like a fifth round pick. Okay, granted, but do you
have to pick in the top ten?
Speaker 1 (31:23):
No?
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Not and he does it have to be elite neighbors
or can it be Brian Thomas who was like in
the middle of the round, right, Bryan Thomas had a
really good rookie year.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Yeah. I think the point is is more and more
good receivers being cultivated in college.
Speaker 7 (31:37):
Yeah, you know, so it's.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
College is not just a running game.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
You a point you got to identify. You know, Aladdin McConkey,
you know, early second round.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Pick, right, All you got to do is listen to me,
listen to friends.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
So maybe he's not a number one receiver. Maybe he's
not the traditional number one receiver, but there are really
good players that get taken at different spots. You don't
have to pick the best receiver in the top you know,
Jamar Chase went five overall.
Speaker 7 (32:03):
I get it, but the.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
Hype doesn't always see the second round, right.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
And then Marvin Harrison Junior, maybe he will pan out
to be an amazing receiver. But I think the expectation
him coming to the league, I don't know if he
lived up to it, But.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
Those guys were all really high picks, right, But they're
not the only really good receivers that came out of
that class. You know, Neighbors Harrison Thomas. Who's the other
one that I'm forgetting?
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Harrison? Oh, you said, Harrison?
Speaker 7 (32:33):
Yeah, I forget now.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
But just in general, I think that the receiver position
is going to get you anywhere between five and ten
really good players every draft.
Speaker 7 (32:43):
Fred's right, The trick is to find one.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Yeah, Jason wants to know if you could guarantee one
win on our schedule this year, what game would it be?
And why?
Speaker 7 (32:54):
New Orleans?
Speaker 1 (32:55):
New Orleans.
Speaker 7 (32:56):
I think it's the worst team in football.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Okay, I would say a division probably like a Miami game.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Really see, I think they're going to win one of those,
But like we're being asked to guarantee, and obviously you
can't do that because but I was going to say
Tennessee Miami on the road. I was going to say
the Panthers.
Speaker 7 (33:14):
I'm not willing to do that. One is Tennessee at home.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
If Tennessee is at home. I might edge Tennessee over
New Orleans because I think those are the two worst
teams that the Patriots play.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
I think they are. I think it is at home.
I think I remember them coming here.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
But yeah, if Tennessee is a home game, and forgive
me for not having the schedule committed to memory, that
I will give Tennessee the nod over New Orleans. I
think those two teams are going to struggle. New Orleans
I think is going to be the worst team in
the league. Though at least Tennessee has a number one
overall pick quarterback. You never know, he might be the
third you know, after CJ. Stroud and then Jayden Daniels.
(33:53):
Maybe cam Wood does for his team what those guys did.
No one was predicting that for Washington last year.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
We've got a bront workboot review from one of our
listeners fill in North Carolina. He says, I'm in sales
but need safety boots as I'm in waste and recycling
and go on a lot of construction sites, commercial sites
requiring safety boots, dirty areas here in eastern North Carolina.
Finally broke down and got the Omen boots after seeing
the ads and hearing them sponsor on PU. Loving them
(34:23):
so far. They look great and they are comfortable to
walk around for lengthy periods of time, no matter where
I am. So there you go. Love it and you
can get your own Omen boots at brontworkwear dot com.
Go to brontworkwear dot com forward slash pats or with
coupon code pats and you can also get ten bucks
(34:44):
off of it. And if you don't like it, just
send it back. So Bront Workwear the Omen boots.
Speaker 6 (34:51):
I wonder, what are those ones we got?
Speaker 5 (34:52):
I wonder.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
I don't know which ones we got. I want to
get the other ones, like traditional work boots. I want
to get those because the ones I have now are
like on their last legs.
Speaker 5 (35:03):
That they sent you or like your old pair, No, my.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
Old pair, they're not they're not brunt. They were a
former sponsor.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
You too, You still still have those I told you
I had. I had to put duct tape to you slash.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Yeah, like the same way like a cobbler.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
Are they too trash?
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Oh yeah yeah, he's got a picture of him now.
He sent the same ones that we have.
Speaker 7 (35:28):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like them.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
They're just two nights like. They don't seem like work boats,
they seem like dress boots. Well brought them through foxs
Oh Yeah.
Speaker 5 (35:38):
Well, if you're in sales, going on construction sites or
like selling equipment, probably perfect boot.
Speaker 1 (35:45):
Yeah I get you know, there you go because you
want to have that. Yeah. Okay, all right, back to
the phones we go. Uh, Anthony's in Seattle? What's up? Anthony?
Speaker 12 (36:00):
Was up?
Speaker 13 (36:00):
Bread?
Speaker 12 (36:00):
Paul Alex, how you guys doing?
Speaker 1 (36:02):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (36:02):
Great man?
Speaker 1 (36:03):
All right?
Speaker 12 (36:04):
Hey, uh Paul, I wish you were Uh, I wish
you were at the show last week. I took a
pretty good shot at the guy who wanted you guys
to punch Pop Douglas in the face to prove you
weren't frauds.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Hey.
Speaker 12 (36:15):
Uh, I had you guys let off Tuesday show with uh,
things you're excited about, things you're worried about, and then uh,
I agree for the most part with what you guys
are saying. But there was one that Fred brought up
I thought was interesting, Positive surprises. I thought that was
it was interesting because it's kind of hard to like
(36:38):
pick something that you're hopeful to happen and then also
say you'll be surprised about it.
Speaker 8 (36:41):
Though.
Speaker 11 (36:41):
That was an interesting one to think about.
Speaker 12 (36:43):
What I had one that I wanted to that I
thought was pretty good Uh, the kicker, what is the kicker?
Is just like absolute money, Like you know, like he
comes in like out of nowhere, like like Brandon Aubrey
did for Dallas, Like who the hell is this guy?
Just knock him down, you know, sixty fifty seven, forty seven,
you put the ball in front of him, he's just
(37:04):
knocking him through. And like, let's say they hit the ceiling,
and let's say it go eleven and six, and and
they're like five to zero in games decided by three
points or less, because he's just like it's like clear
as day, like he's filled in that that slim margin
of victory or margin of era between wins and losses.
I think that would be. And then also like then
(37:25):
by the end of the season, you feel like, wow,
we've got the our you know, our our kicker.
Speaker 14 (37:29):
He's a rookie, so.
Speaker 12 (37:30):
You've got our kicker for the next fifteen twenty years.
I think that will qualify as a positive surprise.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
I would agree.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
You gotta think, yeah, yeah, sure, if he's Brandon Aubrey,
Yeah that would be a surprise.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Okay, that's what he's saying.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
But everybody has a good kicker, Like how was it
how was the Patriots kicking last year? That was fine?
Speaker 1 (37:48):
Well, some kickers are better than others.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Yeah, Brandon Aubrey, Yeah, I would say we'd qualify as
a surprise.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
I mean Justin Tucker over his career, you know.
Speaker 7 (37:55):
Yeah, everybody has that.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Nobody everybody has that pretty much stop like Daniel Carlson.
Everybody has a good kicker every once while, you have
a year where you can't make one the Chad Ryland
year for the Patriots.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
That's what I was just going to say.
Speaker 7 (38:10):
Everybody has a year.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
Where struggling, handful of games, most years that could have
been one if a kick had been.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Absolutely he had an abnormally bad year, which is why
he was what happened.
Speaker 5 (38:22):
Like but not great? Well, Chad Ryland, he just went.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Somewhere else and he went back to normal because he
was in a slump that one year.
Speaker 6 (38:30):
It happens.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
But I think for the most part, yes, Justin Tucker
better than than you know, mostly because of longevity and consistency.
You know, what's Boswell and Pittsburgh, Chris Boswell I'm thinking of,
you know, Brandon Aubrey and Dallas. There's a handful that
(38:53):
are really good every year.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
But I think I think but like.
Speaker 3 (38:56):
The like the Detroit kid that came out of the
uf L, he was he was nails all season for
the Lions.
Speaker 7 (39:02):
They're all kind of dog.
Speaker 12 (39:03):
They all make like eight that degree, like like like
an Aubrey Tucker, Like if our kicker is one of
those guys, that's that's that's you know, that's money.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Yeah, I think more teams have money than you think.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
But I think it's I think I would like to
different Thanks for the call an today. I would like
to differentiate from a guy making eighty five percent of
his kicks to the guy who whenever it's on the line,
that was that time he makes them, that was Adam.
That's that's Adam, And that's what I hope this guy
is that episode.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Can he I agree for back up the distance that
we would consider Okay, we're in field goal range, you know,
like whereas yeah, it might have been a lot closer.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
I believe last year they set a record for like
highest percentage of fifty five plus yardfield goal percentage something
like that, like league wide, league wide, like that number.
To Alex's point is getting.
Speaker 5 (39:59):
Back and back.
Speaker 7 (40:00):
A year Joey Slide made a sixty three yard of Oh.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
They'll be a seventy yarder within the next five years. Yeah,
I'm convinced of it.
Speaker 6 (40:07):
I believe it.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (40:08):
So like he's right, Anthony is absolutely right.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Like Brandon Aubrey, like what he was last year was different,
Like he just made every kick. I think he made
an obscene amount of plus fifty yarders. That's a that's
a weapon. But I just feel like the kicking in
general in the league twenty eight or so teams feel
(40:33):
okay about the kicking situation every once in a while,
and the Patriots were one of those teams two years ago.
You're looking for somebody because you just can't make a
field goal and it kills you. It does kill you
when you don't have it. Yeah, it just I don't
think very many teams don't have it.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
Yeah, let's see what do we got here? Who is this?
Someone named Christian in LA what's up?
Speaker 15 (40:55):
Hey?
Speaker 16 (40:56):
You guys.
Speaker 17 (41:00):
Talking about wide receivers and stuff. And it just came
to mind with me, especially when you guys said earlier
that they're producing better and better cross of wide receivers
and higher and higher numbers. And it seems like to
me that then translates to teams like Washington and some
of the teams being a little a little more open
to letting some of these number ones go. And I
(41:22):
just feel like at this point in this team's evolution,
we have to do what we need to do to
get a professional wide receiver. We've proven over the years
we just cannot draft them fight end. We're great ass back,
we're great defense, We're really great at just finding guys
in different places on the first, second, third, or fourth rounds.
(41:44):
We have never been like the Pittsburgh Steelers are and
been able to draft year after year great wide receivers.
So it seems like for the good of the team,
we need to just stop trying and let's just do
what we need to do consistently to get it for
professional wide receiver, shaking loose some money team since they're
feeling also like six, seven, eight wide receivers are coming
(42:06):
out every year that can produce. What do you guys
feel about that?
Speaker 1 (42:10):
Well, I agree they haven't really done well lately trying
to draft a wide receiver, but that doesn't mean you
stop trying. And and by the way they has changed,
I mean, I know Elliot's Ben Carton, but been here, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
Mike Rabel hasn't been here, hasn't been part.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
Of it, right, so let's see what these guys can do.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
Yeah, I don't like that line of thought. I think
it's another one of those calls that he doesn't really
like that line of thought either, but like, just don't try, Okay,
we won't have wide.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
Receivers right well, just you know, yeah, so.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
I don't like that. Should they not have drafted Drake
maybe because mac Jones didn't work.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
On looky, they use first round picks on Ben Watson
and Daniel Graham and they were okay players, but they
weren't first round talents a tight end. Should they have
stopped trying? Well, if they had, they wouldn't have had
Rob Gronkowski. I know he was a second round pick,
but you're right, I'm talking about drafting tight ends, all right.
Speaker 7 (43:04):
That's a great example of it.
Speaker 3 (43:06):
They kept drafting tight ends and then all of a
sudden they found a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
Right, so yeah, you don't stop trying. You just got
to get it right. Emery's in Virginia. What's up, Emery?
Speaker 15 (43:19):
Good afternoon, everybody. Hey football as well? Hey, listen, I
got some good news from great news. Okay, the curse
will end this season. As far as drafting wide receivers,
we're going to get to see it in our lifetime
because I believe this kid, Kyle Williams is a hit. Okay,
And I wanted to ask you a question right now,
(43:42):
with his current skills set, is he better than Chris
seven eleven Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell?
Speaker 11 (43:51):
I'll take it off there.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
I hope he's got a better skill set than Chris Hogan.
I don't know enough about Malcolm Mitchell because I never
really saw him healthy to know what his skilled sound.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
He had like one year in the league.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
Yeah, Malcolm Mitchell was pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, I think
he's a better player than Chris Hogan. Yeah, in terms
of skill set. We'll see what he is as an
NFL player. I think he's probably more athletic, although.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
He doesn't have the cloak of invisibility.
Speaker 7 (44:16):
No, no, that is true.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
You see? Was she right?
Speaker 1 (44:19):
No, Chris Hogan?
Speaker 3 (44:21):
What she rice got thirty days in jail, five years probation?
Speaker 1 (44:27):
Oh wow, yeah, Chris Hogan. We we he would just
all of a sudden get wide open. I mean, like
where everybody else is on one side of the field
and he's the only one standing there, and you know,
whether it was Garoppolo or Brady would hit him with
a pass and it's like, how did he get that open?
So we we said he had a cloak of invisibility
(44:47):
where no one would see him until it was time.
Speaker 7 (44:49):
And it kind of caught on. Yeah, and we invented that.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (44:53):
Yeah, like that, just many other things you trends, you
guys started.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
There was one game in particular, I want to say
it was a Baltimore game at I hear that, Like
it was back and forth. The Ravens were sort of
hanging around and they were and then all of a sudden,
he just like went seventy five yards like no one
covered him.
Speaker 7 (45:09):
He was all by himself.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
Yeah, he did it in Arizona too, when Garoppolo was playing. Yeah,
it was like literally I'm looking at the because I'm there,
and I'm looking at the left side of the field
and he's the only one standing there. No one was
even winning the zip code.
Speaker 6 (45:24):
They just didn't care.
Speaker 3 (45:25):
Well, they just said he's a lacrosse player. I don't know.
It was weird how many times he was like uncovered
down the field.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Yep, let's see. Anthony writes in why guarantee a win
over a bottom of the league team? Because we talked about.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
What you were asked to right to give a guaranteed way?
Speaker 1 (45:45):
I know, I can understand your point of view, But
why wouldn't you want a big win over Buffalo and
Buffalo or Miami in Miami? Something to really show the
rest of the league that were on the rise. I say,
Week two in Miami, we need to exercise our demons
against two it in game. Look, I hope they win.
Those games would be great.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
But the question was Gary, Yeah, what would be the
most exciting win that you could you could see that
might have been a different answer.
Speaker 5 (46:10):
The question, which is why I said Miami on the road.
I thought it was like, if you could guarantee, as
in like you're willing it into existence that they're going
to beat this team?
Speaker 1 (46:19):
What I want?
Speaker 3 (46:19):
What you want?
Speaker 1 (46:20):
Like you got a gun to your head and.
Speaker 7 (46:24):
Put the game right?
Speaker 1 (46:26):
If I would trade a loss to the Saints for
a win over Miami on the roads?
Speaker 3 (46:34):
Correct?
Speaker 5 (46:34):
And so I was.
Speaker 6 (46:35):
Thinking of it.
Speaker 5 (46:36):
I think a little more so how they interpreted the question,
you might be.
Speaker 6 (46:40):
Right, Well, you guys might be right too.
Speaker 7 (46:42):
Yeah, you might be right.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
It might be just what what if there was one
game that you could guarantee that they would what would
you most want to want it to be?
Speaker 1 (46:50):
Right?
Speaker 6 (46:50):
That's why I was thinking, Like for.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
Me, it would be at Miami, just to get rid
of that.
Speaker 6 (46:53):
That's what I was saying too exactly.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
We're talking about, like why would the Commander's trade McLaurin.
You know, they got a good thing going, they got
the and voodoo rights in for context, the Commanders are
mistaken for being this young, exciting team when in reality
they were actually the second oldest team in the league.
That's not the point, it's it's the point is the
windows open? They kick your quarterback? Yeah, like now is
(47:17):
the time? And why would you take away from this
young quarterback his best receiver.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
They went to the NFC Championship game last year? Who
cares like the Actually, they don't need to be young
to develop into something.
Speaker 7 (47:28):
They were something last year.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
Now.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
I'm skeptical to be able to repeat it. But if
I were Washington, I wouldn't be saying why don't need
Terry McLaurin, because that's going to help me, you know,
duplicate what we did last year. That's crazy, yep.
Speaker 5 (47:44):
I didn't realize that they were that old. But I
think just having a really young, exciting quarterback, and then
also just new ownership, there's just like a lot of.
Speaker 1 (47:51):
Fresh great point, and sometimes those rankings of who's older
and younger, you really need to look at it because
sometimes it's an average, so sometimes it can be skewed
by a couple older players. And also the difference between
you know, ten and five or five is like half
a year, you know, so you have to look at that.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Not even But I think Alex's point that just made
me think of it too is really good, because yeah,
they did. They brought in a lot of veteran free
agents to fill gaps like Bobby Wagner and Zach Ertz,
and those guys are going to make your age. But
why is Washington good? Jaden Daniels right, they're not going
anywhere if he's the real deal. As long as he's
(48:36):
really good, I don't care who the other guys are, they're.
Speaker 7 (48:40):
Gonna be good.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
You can be great if you will augment him with
guys like Terry McLaurin, but you're gonna be baseline good.
Speaker 7 (48:47):
Look what the Chiefs have done. The Chiefs were great with.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Tyreek Hill, right, the offense was great, but they let
him go and now their offense has been good. Now
there's still been a good team because it's homes they
find they know how to win.
Speaker 7 (49:02):
They're a lot like the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
Good coach a good coach, They're going to find a
way to beat you more often than not. But if
you want to maximize your championship window, you don't let
guys like Terry McLaurin go.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
Right, Mike and the OC happy Thursday, Excited for the
next episode of Forge and Foxbor tomorrow and the live
shows next week. For training camp? Are we expecting Stefan
Diggs to be placed on the pup list? I was
really hoping there's a chance for him to start contributing
closer to week one so we can at least see
the receiving corps close to full strength early in the season.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
I do don't know.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
I don't think he's going to be out there on
day one though, right.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
I don't know what to expect. I would say if
he is in fact opening camp on PUP don't completely
dismiss the possibility of him being ready for week one, Right,
those two things don't necessarily have to equal one.
Speaker 1 (49:54):
Another question for the group, mostly Alex would love to
know if you have a favorite reality TV show you
always tune in for, or which show would you love
to be a contestant on.
Speaker 5 (50:07):
I am unlike a lot of women I'm friends with.
I hate reality TV. I don't have time for it.
I think it's so stupid. I think I lose brain
cells when I watched it. My college roommates would kick
me out of the house on Mondays when they were
watching The Bachelor or The Bachelorette because I would just
sit there and just get start that the people were
(50:29):
and how unrealistic it was. And if I had to
so like my reality TV is like sports and like
HGTV and the Food Network.
Speaker 6 (50:39):
That's what I like.
Speaker 5 (50:39):
I like the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders show a lot, So
I guess if I had to be a contestant and
it came with the skill and the attractiveness level of
those girls, I would want to be on that show.
Otherwise I would love like.
Speaker 3 (50:52):
A PAX for Dallas Cowboy cheer I like that.
Speaker 5 (50:57):
Well, it's like, you got to respect the greatness I
was never cheerleader, but if I could be at that level,
you snap my finger.
Speaker 1 (51:04):
Reality show I don't watch them. I really don't, honestly.
Speaker 6 (51:07):
I love violent stuff.
Speaker 5 (51:10):
Oh my god, I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (51:11):
I was listening to Howard Stern. He was making fun
of people like why would anyone watch WWE? And I
was thinking to myself, you watch The Bachelor like it's
which is as vapid as anything.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
Well, so that's a great to what I was going
to talk about. The idea of reality television sort of
intrigues me, but it's it's so scripted and it used
to be great, like it bothers me that people think
that these are real situations and it's never real, like favor.
Speaker 5 (51:38):
Love Jersey Shore, like Laguna Beach that was like the
Heyday were well, and even those were so.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
Scripted too, but I didn't even watch them.
Speaker 6 (51:47):
It wasn't as just terrible like the idea.
Speaker 7 (51:49):
Like that we were watching.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
I was telling you guys like deafinitly, and I was like, well,
you know, like Bachelor in Paradise is, I'm like okay,
and I just like I end up sitting there and
I'm like, like, you know.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
This is all fake right, like this is I just
that can try and the housewives stuff and like I
just I hate it.
Speaker 5 (52:09):
Yeah you my girl, Bethany Frankel. But other than that
hate it, what was I just gonna say?
Speaker 1 (52:15):
My wife loves those murdered ones where they you know,
snapped and buried in the backyard, the real stuff, and
they yeah, and then they go back and they they
talk to them.
Speaker 6 (52:28):
I would argue, are more even like documentary than they are.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
Yes, they're not reality, well they are in reality, but like, yeah,
you know, but I don't like those.
Speaker 5 (52:37):
I love this, And there's a reality TV show for
everything now, like everyone has a reality like I Love
on the Spectrum ninetyrum, Oh my god, I saw my
I visited my grandma in Florida. There's a Portuguese ninety
day fiance and I'm like trying to explain to my
eighty year old grandmother that this is not real, Like
they don't actually look like I don't know. She's so Ina,
(53:00):
did you feel.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Bad watching Love on the Spectrum.
Speaker 5 (53:03):
You're not making fun of them, but at the same
time you are.
Speaker 6 (53:06):
But why is that a show?
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Like, oh, yes you are, but.
Speaker 7 (53:10):
You watch is what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
Sometimes not as much as Love is Blind as Yeah,
I don't watch.
Speaker 5 (53:18):
I would never I would never take you for a
Love is Blind guy.
Speaker 3 (53:23):
I don't watch any of those teach their own.
Speaker 5 (53:25):
I can't do it.
Speaker 3 (53:26):
Like big Brother. I'll watch a little bit. I don't
really like. I don't like it much. But summer there's
nothing on everything, all of my show spreading.
Speaker 6 (53:37):
It's not like that anymore now, Yeah, real whirl.
Speaker 1 (53:39):
When it was grounds, you saidap it.
Speaker 6 (53:42):
That's the best word I could think of for it.
Speaker 1 (53:44):
Yeah, it's it's mindless. I get people they want to
just sit back and passively watch and all that.
Speaker 5 (53:49):
I'll watch like The Office or Family Guy. If I
want something, I want mindless TV.
Speaker 3 (53:54):
You know something that doesn't. He's too good for like
network sitcoms, right right, he's too high brid.
Speaker 1 (54:00):
I'd rather watch my favorite, my Lottery dream House.
Speaker 6 (54:04):
I'd rather watch that house Hunters all day.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
I turn it off though, when I hear like okay,
so EURO was eager to say, okay, what did they win?
I want to scratcher and I want to spend two
hundred thousand dollars like all right, I'm out click.
Speaker 5 (54:17):
Yeah, there's a I saw a TikTok, So take this
with a grain of salt. But HGTV was like reaching
out to local Cape Cod realtors saying they were looking
for someone that was a prospective buyer in the Cape
Cod area that wanted a beach house, and they were
looking for people with budgets of six hundred to seven
(54:38):
hundred thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Beach house, and they were going all on.
Speaker 5 (54:42):
The coast And I was like, did they do any
market research? You can't get a shock two miles away
from the beach six hundred thousand dollars on Cape Cod, right?
I thought that was pretty funny.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
Is this a show in production? Like allegedly so we
might see something there?
Speaker 7 (54:59):
So they it was a large scripted too, you know, yes.
Speaker 1 (55:02):
Oh yeah, you can just tell from the interaction.
Speaker 5 (55:04):
Gary Stresky from ESPN did one of those shows and
he kind of told me like a little bit about
the process. But I don't know if I don't remember
if this was the case for him. But sometimes the
houses they go tour aren't even for sale. Sometimes it's
just a friend's house that they're like, oh, can we
film there in that thing? Usually too, they've already bought
the house they're going to pick in the end for Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
That's awful. That is awful, and.
Speaker 3 (55:32):
They always picked like three, but there's like a million
houses these people.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (55:36):
I do like the like the improvement shows, the Home
Improvement I.
Speaker 5 (55:40):
Love those because I don't need the drama of like
finding the house and.
Speaker 6 (55:45):
Oh my god, there's a load bearing wall.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
What are we going to do?
Speaker 7 (55:48):
It's different dramas.
Speaker 3 (55:50):
Yeah, it's different drama, and I always make fun of
death about that. But unlike the Bachelor shows, I actually enjoyed,
Like the Family. Yeah, I kind of like them. I
think he's kind of cool, but there's always some like
right in the middle, it's like, oh my, like to you, yeah,
is that a load bearing walls? To get the phone on?
(56:13):
The engineer so Fred's point like, you know, this mold,
so we might have to do away with the second bathroom,
but it's going to cost about twelve grand. Yeah, and
then miraculously by the end of the commercial break, it's
all fixed.
Speaker 18 (56:28):
Right.
Speaker 7 (56:28):
It's so I.
Speaker 6 (56:32):
I do too.
Speaker 5 (56:33):
I was a weird kid where like I was rushing
to get my homework done after school so that I
could watch There's a show called Knock First.
Speaker 6 (56:40):
That was like an interior design show. Actually, Tanya and Nyak,
who's a Boston member, was the host. Yeah, got to.
Speaker 5 (56:45):
Meet her a couple of years ago. But I was
like rushing to get my homework to watch AHG TV.
Speaker 6 (56:50):
Like instead of cartoons. I was a really weird kid.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
She was rushing to get her homework done to watch
a television network that didn't exist when we were getting
our home.
Speaker 1 (57:00):
I didn't have TVO back then.
Speaker 5 (57:01):
I guess, well if they had it, but I was
like later in elementary school and we didn't have it.
I never had TiVo.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Okay, back to the phones we go. Let's see what
do we got here? Tim in South Carolina? I hate Tim.
Speaker 16 (57:19):
Hey, guys, how's it going good?
Speaker 1 (57:22):
Hey?
Speaker 19 (57:22):
I had a quick comment and then a question about
the show. I was meaning to Collins for a while
about this, but since you guys talked about it the
other day, it makes more sense. I really appreciate the
positivity that you guys bring to Boston sports. The other
media outlets are not still positive. They'd make you think
that this is the worst time to be alive in
Boston sports, and you guys just are real and make
(57:44):
it really enjoyable.
Speaker 17 (57:45):
To be a fan.
Speaker 1 (57:46):
Oh, thank you, I mean, and then go ahead, But yeah, I.
Speaker 19 (57:51):
Just had a quick question about the show. I didn't
listen for a while after the season, like up until
the draft, but I definitely missed this. But what happened
to Tamara?
Speaker 1 (58:01):
She left for greener pastures.
Speaker 19 (58:04):
Ah, that's too bad. I always really enjoyed her on
the show.
Speaker 1 (58:08):
So is that it okay?
Speaker 15 (58:12):
Thanks?
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Thanks for the call to him. Yeah, I mean, we're
not always.
Speaker 7 (58:16):
I love the positivity.
Speaker 1 (58:18):
I mean we tried.
Speaker 7 (58:20):
Look, it's not the job.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
This is a show about the Patriots from inside the Patriots.
So we're homers.
Speaker 3 (58:27):
I don't, I don't, but I don't think people would
have been calling in last year saying no, just really,
I appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (58:33):
I was gonna say, but you know, we're always going
to look in the bright side. But I think we
we try to be honest with you know, how we
think things are going.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
And I would just push back, like locally right now,
the expectations for the Patriots to me a borderline, how
to whack positive?
Speaker 5 (58:50):
Well, the Patriots are like somehow, I don't know, the
last couple of years, it's been crazy to think about this,
but like The Patriots have the most promise right now
of all the teams. You could argue since the Red
Talks started their winning streaks.
Speaker 7 (59:03):
Red Red's Red Sox.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
I think the socks are loaded. Really, I don't think
they loaded, but I think that three weeks ago though,
like I've definitely three weeks ago, I still thought that way.
Speaker 7 (59:13):
I don't even care about the ten game winning streak.
Speaker 3 (59:16):
I care that they have these young guys that are
up and playing, and now there's.
Speaker 5 (59:20):
Something sentiment of the fan base. And again this was
pre Red Sox winning streak. The Patriots are.
Speaker 1 (59:28):
Like, listen it all hinges on the pictures right now. Yeah,
you know Kroshette is he's the ace, but Giolito needs
to keep it up.
Speaker 7 (59:40):
That's why they need a number two stones.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
Yeah, they need some pitching help. There's no doubt this
Tanner Houke thing. I I predicted his demise. There was
something up with him. It's from the All Star break
last year till now. There was there's something weird going
on with him because he was lights out before that,
like the spin on his pitches were so tight, and
(01:00:03):
then all of a sudden it just changed. And I
don't know what what happened. But he hasn't been the
same picture yet since then, so you know he was.
He was something I think they were hoping to count on,
and now he's off the radar. They need some pitching
help and if they can get it, I think they've
got the bats in the lineup to really make a
(01:00:25):
dent this year. I think they can make a run.
I really do.
Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
I don't know about the bats, but they need some
help pitching. And I agree with you if they think
that that that trade for Joe Ryan for Minnesota, if
that can happen and all of a sudden, Bao and
Gilito spot because beat has been great and if he can,
he's been young. So this is again why I'm looking
at I've been busting French chops because I'm getting into
(01:00:49):
it a little bit for the first time in at
least a couple of years because of Meyer Anthony.
Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
I like Dick too. What now.
Speaker 5 (01:01:01):
I really like how the young kids are like I
don't know, I keep saying, like the Boston female sports
teams like love them and are obsessing over them, and
they're like celebrities around town again, like going to the
hottest places with the hottest girls in the city, and
I just I like that in my athletes.
Speaker 7 (01:01:19):
I like that in my athletes.
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
Okay, all right, they're all out the seaport.
Speaker 5 (01:01:23):
Yes, exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
Let's let's go to uh Nathan in Buffalo.
Speaker 16 (01:01:30):
Hey Nathan, Hey there guys.
Speaker 20 (01:01:33):
So so with the Patriots, you know, we're seeing these
stories about them trying to get you know, Harry McLaurin.
Right now, what would you give up for them? Like,
what would you give up for that? Would you give up?
Because now with the running back he has, you know,
I have Agreen? Now would you give up Gettinger Stevenson
(01:01:53):
for mclauren.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
Eric Knafpeck even I would give up a second and
maybe some more. Paul would give up you know, private
parts for him.
Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
I would up a first round pick. But like if
I could give up Antonio Gibson for him, of course
I would do that. That's not an option, Yeah, like
romondre Stevenson for Terry mclaurin's not an option. Romondre Stevenson
in the second round pick for Terry McLaurin might be
an option, But yeah, the draft pick is the key,
you know. Yeah, it's like back to the Red Sox.
(01:02:24):
Jared Duran is the guy who's the centerpiece of that
Joe Ryan trade that's been rumored.
Speaker 7 (01:02:31):
But you're not going to get Joe Ryan for Jerreman. Yeah,
you're gonna have. You got to dig up a prospect too.
Speaker 6 (01:02:37):
So when's the deadline the end of the month.
Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
Yeah, thanks Nathan.
Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
Yes, I would. I would be willing to give up.
I mean if it's a second round pick, fine, I
would do that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:48):
Eldrids in North Carolina. Hey, Eldred.
Speaker 14 (01:02:56):
Bigg Yeah, question, this is one of them both. I
don't think it's boxber Rush or the other one. One
of the top analysts.
Speaker 12 (01:03:10):
And in the.
Speaker 14 (01:03:11):
Veil write the Patriots thirty thirty in wide receiver weapons
as the last year they was thirty one.
Speaker 7 (01:03:18):
Yeah, I mean that's probably.
Speaker 14 (01:03:21):
It's fair because what he was saying is my boy
is still hurt. Hollan is heard. Pop ain't showing nothing,
Bakery ain't showed none, Pop ain't free. They're good breaking
loose if he put it, and they don't have a
two eggs. So do you agree or do you think
it'll be a little different because they had their little
(01:03:43):
outing and I think it off the air.
Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
I think anything can happen with that room. I mean,
they could be like they were last year, or Stefan
Diggs comes in elevates everybody, Efton Chisholm becomes this slot
guy Poke you know, has a resurgence, Kyle Williams, you know, Like,
so it's so unknown.
Speaker 5 (01:04:07):
Right, I think it was really difficult for them to
kind of factor the Patriots into these rankings because I
mean you see that and you're like, Okay, it's kind
of fair because of.
Speaker 6 (01:04:14):
The unknown, but it's speculations.
Speaker 5 (01:04:17):
So much room to just really surprise people.
Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Yeah, it's I would need.
Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Yeah, I think that thirty might be a little low.
Maybe they're like, you know, somewhere in the low twenties,
you know, twenty six, twenty seven. But you know, I'm
not going to quibble over a spot or two. Yeah,
Like Digs was already not Digs from Buffalo last year
before we got.
Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
Just he was, but he was on pace for a
thousand years.
Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
On pace to average ten yards to catch. Yeah, that's
well below his average.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
But still a thousand yards. The volume was going to be.
Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
There, Yeah, but that's below what he was, ok. He
was a fifteen fourteen to fifteen hundred guy. Yeah, he
was on pace for a thousand. It's fred now he
was well below what he was. Okay, now he will
be the best the Patriots have, assuming he's healthy. Yes,
And I think that's why you move up a few
(01:05:11):
notches because you didn't have that. But the rest is
all kind of what you had, Kyle Williams is what
you had with Jalen Polk potential until prove he proves it,
and I think he's going to be better than Jalen Polk.
I like his skill set more than I like Jalen
Polk's skill set. I'm higher on him than I was
Jalen Polk.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
But it's all unknown. It's all unknown.
Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
I like the idea of Kyle Williams more than I
like the idea of Jalen Polk.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
And then, of course the big factor is how much
better will Drake May be and how much does his
improvement elevate the wide receivers like it's.
Speaker 7 (01:05:48):
All that's that's probably the most important point.
Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
That's the big unknown this year is how much improved.
Speaker 3 (01:05:57):
Maybe you could have the same caliber of players around
Drake Made that you did last year, but Drake May
is going to be so much better than he was.
Speaker 7 (01:06:03):
It's going to look better, right.
Speaker 3 (01:06:04):
It's a good point, all right, foods here, So we'll
take a break.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):

Pick fourth overall, Will Campbell, Well, welcome to the Patriots.
I know you've been through the car wash, so I
know it's been a long day, so we're not going
to keep you too long, but we appreciate you stopping in.
Speaker 18 (01:08:11):
Yeah, no doubt. I'm super excited to be here. It's
an honor to you know, represent this organization and I
just can't wait for the future.
Speaker 4 (01:08:19):
So it's Mike, it's Evan, it's Paul, I'm Fred. We're
in house. So you're you're safe.
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Here, no doubt you were.
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
We have what we call BTT guys. Would you happen
to know what that is?
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
That's a bang the table guy. So when we were
banging the table for Will Campbell before.
Speaker 18 (01:08:38):
The draft, I'd like to hear that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
Yeah, Like, we were all sold on you being being
our left tackle. So we're excited about that. So guys jumping,
I mean I gotta jump in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
Well, just we watched you last night right after you
were selected, and we watched you walk to the stage
and you were interviewed briefly and you got emotional.
Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
I think we've felt the emotion there for you.
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
I mean, just now we have a little bit of
time away from that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
What was last night like for you?
Speaker 4 (01:09:00):
What a whirlwind it all was?
Speaker 18 (01:09:02):
Yeah, I mean it was amazing. I put a lot
of work into, you know, last night, and you know,
for me to be able to hear my name and
hear my name called early and you know, be able
to represent you know, this organization, you know, with the
history that's behind this place, the championships, be able to
play for coach Varibel. It's everything I could have asked
for to, you know, be in this best position possible.
(01:09:24):
I'm just super excited to get to work, meet my
new teammates, meet all of them, you know, build that
relationship with not only them but the coaches, and just
get back to playing ball.
Speaker 3 (01:09:35):
So I'm trying to wrap my head around Will Campbell.
How do you describe your play style? I'm violent, nasty,
you know, really physical player and this common measured, you know,
sort of way that you you answer the questions, and
you're really thoughtful and just even killed. How do you
(01:09:55):
mix those two things on and off the field. It
seems like your personalities are very different.
Speaker 4 (01:10:00):
You can see that switch under his armpitch.
Speaker 1 (01:10:01):
Ok.
Speaker 18 (01:10:02):
Yeah, that's something my dad always talked about. You got
to be able to flip the switch, be the cool, calm,
collected guy off the field. But whenever it's time to go,
they need to see a different you. And that's just
what I try to do. I try to be the
guy you know that's just a normal dude off the field.
I'm just like everybody else. I want to you know,
be able to interact with people. I want people to
you know, know that I'm personable. I can really conversate
(01:10:25):
with whoever it might be. And but on the field,
you know it's time to go. And that's just kind
of the mentality.
Speaker 23 (01:10:30):
To try that.
Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
I'm always.
Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
Paul goes from zero to hio like that.
Speaker 24 (01:10:37):
We've heard the story now a million times about you
putting Rabel on his button during the work out, which
I love. But I remember watching your tap against Texas
A and M and you took Nick scoring and you
tore them right out of the gap. He's two hundred
and sixty pounds, right, So when I heard that story
about Rabel, I thought of that block. But is there
any other blocks that stand out to you in your
career at LSU that are some of your favorites or
(01:11:00):
highlight reels or anything like that.
Speaker 18 (01:11:01):
I mean, I feel like I had a couple of
good ones. I don't really remember, you know, each of
them specifically. Yes, you do, not not enough, you know,
But ulss she was everything I could ever ask for,
you know, in a university, I try to represent it
in the best way possible and I'm just super thankful
for everything that they did for me and my family.
(01:11:23):
You know, my three years there, and you know, even
though I'm a long way from Louisiana, I will still
represent the right way.
Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
Yeah, forget about football office, sec, I want to talk
about the sporting goods store that you've been in your
family for a long time. How cool was that growing up?
But like you just walk instid, I need a new
baseball glob. My father owned up hardware store, so all
I could get.
Speaker 6 (01:11:42):
Was paint, So.
Speaker 18 (01:11:45):
Yeah, no doubt. I mean, whenever I would go in
and I'd be like, Mom, I need new shoes, she'd
be like, that's not.
Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
How it worked.
Speaker 18 (01:11:52):
That's how it's working today. I knew it, and she
would she would usually take care of me. But yeah,
it was definitely pretty cool. My grandpa'started that. I think
he had probably about seven or eight stores now it's
down to one right down the street from my high school,
probably about three or four minute drive from my house.
My mom, you know a few other people have been
working there for a long time, so it's pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (01:12:12):
Yeah, that is I think that'd just be cool. And
you get a lot of friends too.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
Hey, well.
Speaker 18 (01:12:18):
All the drama goes Oh yeah, hear everything in there.
Speaker 7 (01:12:23):
The high school stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
I wanted to ask you about Andrew Whitworth and your
he I think he went to the same high school
and now we went to rival okay rival high schools.
But he was someone you really looked up to being
from your area.
Speaker 18 (01:12:34):
Yeah, no doubt. I think. You know, whenever you're a
young aspiring offensive lineman and you know you want to
be the best, you look at guys like him and
Cam Robinson, even though they went to the rival high
school that I don't really care for too much. I'd
probably say some vulgar words about him if we weren't
on the air, right, But yeah, I mean they did
it the right way. They went about their business from
(01:12:57):
a young age in high school to college, even though
Cam went to Alabama. But you know, whenever you look
at guys like that, they've been successful at every level
that they played at. They've also been great in the community,
and that's something that I wanted to do. So I
really looked up to both of those guys.
Speaker 24 (01:13:14):
Well, you were asked about working with Duke Mannyweather this offseason.
Everybody that doesn't know is a very well known offensive
line guru trainer. Just what have you guys been working
on to get ready for your rookie season.
Speaker 18 (01:13:25):
Yeah, I mean really just everything. You know, he's the
best I think, you know, this past offseason or this
past season he had eight or nine Pro Bowlers that
you know he trained specifically. So that's something that I
want to be a part of any way, that you know,
he can critique my game and help me put the
best product on the field. It's something that I'm interested
in every off season. So I've really enjoyed the time
(01:13:47):
that I've spent with him so far. He's taught me
a lot, just to know, expanding my game in every aspect,
and it's something I continue to look forward to.
Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
I have a quick question for you, you know, kind
of off the beaten path. We live here Innoing and
we have Boston College, but we don't really have what
you guys have in terms of college football. You in
the SEC, which is the NFL of college football. What's
the best venue besides LSU. What's the best venue if
I wanted to see if I could go down and
take a trip to watch a major college football game,
(01:14:17):
which I've never really done, what would you recommend?
Speaker 18 (01:14:19):
Really? Honestly, you know, every venue in the SEC, except
maybe two or.
Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
Three at Vanderbilts out.
Speaker 18 (01:14:27):
I'm not going to say anything, but I mean like,
I played at some really cool places. The most underrated
one I feel like, in my opinion was Auburn at
Jordan Hare. That's a pretty electric environment. Florida has a
great environment. Texas A and M. I never played at Tennessee,
but I kind of figure that Tennessee is probably number two,
(01:14:48):
right behind us, and then Kyle Field and then probably
Bryant Denny Cool.
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
So really a lot to choose from.
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Yeah, and now great moments in history. Luke's in North Attleborough.
What's up, Luke? Luke? But yep, you just called come on, yep.
Speaker 25 (01:15:14):
Do you think some things are better left a chance?
Like it depends on what you talk, rather not scad
or replayed for like thirty minutes during a game and
maybe just move on and let it be up the
chance instead of everything being right down to the nitty
gritty of you know.
Speaker 5 (01:15:33):
What I mean?
Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
No, no, so rather than what chance started?
Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
Are some things left better left better left to chance?
Is that what you say? Right?
Speaker 15 (01:15:46):
Well?
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
Not like you know, sexually transmitted disease. You don't want
to like leave that to chance.
Speaker 25 (01:15:51):
I got pink guy right now, Well.
Speaker 1 (01:15:53):
There you go. See you left that the chance and
now you can't see how know that's another great moment
from all right back here and Patriot's Unfiltered eight five
five pass five hundred is the hotline. What is it?
Podcasts at patriots dot com is the podcast at patriots
(01:16:15):

you go to patriots dot com slash pu newsletter and
that's how you subscribe to that. Anything you want to
preview or you want to leave it, leave it to chance.
Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
There will be a line of questioning related to Tuesday's
very morbid section of the show.
Speaker 1 (01:16:36):
About what happens after you die. Yeah, you doesn't have
to be morbid.
Speaker 6 (01:16:39):
You got really deep.
Speaker 1 (01:16:41):
Yeah, but it doesn't have to be morbid.
Speaker 7 (01:16:43):
My desires aren't morbid.
Speaker 1 (01:16:44):
Yeah. If you think that your life hereafter is even better.
Speaker 7 (01:16:47):
Than I want to, like, sit back and be entertained.
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
Yeah, yeah, I have some hope.
Speaker 5 (01:16:52):
We'll have a little bit of that. And then I
was thinking maybe on Tuesday's show we reserve a little portion.
Speaker 6 (01:16:58):
For guests that listens.
Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
Okay, Ohne organized all the photos, pulled them all together,
and I'm thinking we could do it in a YouTube short,
but the format might be better.
Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
Okay, so that's so our last open show before training camps.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
That'll be the feeling.
Speaker 7 (01:17:15):
I'm not going to do well on that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:17):
Back to your thing, Paul about reviewing your life after
you Albert Brooks made a really really funny movie about that,
where he dies and he's forced to review his life.
He's like in front of a board that's deciding if
I go to heaven. So they make him look back
on his life and I think this, I forget how
it went, but he.
Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
I don't want that, so, you know, but it's really funny.
Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
I forget the name of the movie. But Albert Brooks,
I remember laughing out loud several times at that movie.
Speaker 3 (01:17:47):
You're gonna get about ten emails now? Oh yeah, Fred
the movie you were thinking obvious.
Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
That's fine. That's why I say it.
Speaker 6 (01:17:54):
I want people to write it that have had like
defending your life.
Speaker 5 (01:17:57):
I want someone to be like, oh, I had a
near death experience. Answer like, I died for five minutes
and they brought me back, And this is what I like.
If that you've experienced that writ in.
Speaker 1 (01:18:06):
Well, all these near, you know, these ones where I
died and I got revived. But while I was in
the pro like, I had all these things which proved
to me that there's an afterlife. I'm not buying that
because I think their brain hadn't totally shut off and
there's stuff going on.
Speaker 6 (01:18:24):
Maybe have you ever talked to a hospice nurse about it.
Speaker 5 (01:18:28):
No, there's a lot of interesting patterns that are almost
always the same end of life care or in those circumstances,
And I think a hospice nurse was on like a
podcast circuit or wrote some book about it recently because
it came up, but pretty relevant to this, but it
was interesting stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
This is why the question was Fred or Paul on Jeopardy,
because if Alex was included, it really wouldn't have been
much of a choice, right, right, Alex would have been
the choice to go on Jeopardy. That's right.
Speaker 5 (01:19:00):
I think I'd do good for like the one hundred
level questions and then so it would get spotty interesting.
I tell you, I'd crush the sport like the sports
sections they suck at those.
Speaker 7 (01:19:11):
Yeah, I would.
Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
You would easily run the table in that category because
usually the other two people don't know anything that sports,
but being an avid Jeopardy guy, as I tell you
that it's one of my.
Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
Favorite, I know you're eighty.
Speaker 3 (01:19:26):
I have definitely found that I don't do as well
as I used to do. And it started with that
James Hols hour when.
Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
He tried prevaged.
Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
When he dominant, when he started to dominate, he was
the one. I think that sort of initiated the go
from the bottom up, because it's always that it's the
search for the daily doubles, and she starts at the
bottom when I work my way into the category from
the time, because I get almost all of the ones
at the top, and then I sort of get an
(01:19:54):
idea of how the category works, right because the easy
one is at the top and I can go down
and I would do better, right, But I'm like Alex,
I get all the one in two hundred ones.
Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
And isn't that half the battle is figuring out how
each one works the structure of it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
Yeah, there's a quirk, and then I definitely do not
do well in specific category before and afters I cannot
do you ever.
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
Watched I don't. I watched it, obviously, but I don't.
I'm not a watcher, like you.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Be like the Alex Francisco forty nine ers, you know,
like I just never do well on those, Like there's
like two parts of the thing, and I always know
what they the answers are. That would be the example
of I get more right when I'm home because I
say to Beth and I'll be like, that's what I meant.
Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
Yeah, I can't do that on the show, you know,
I wouldn't get credit for it. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:20:41):
Also the buzzer, you like got a practice buzzing.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
But if they went from the top to down to
the easy ones, so the hard ones, I would do better.
But no one does that anymore. They all start at
the bottom and work their way through. They start in
the middle trying to get the daily doubles, and then
they go down and then the easy ones they'll usually
the last ones off the board.
Speaker 5 (01:21:00):
I would start with like the two hundreds, Yeah, hit
a two hundred, wait into the four hundreds, see where I.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
Fall I feel, And then the sports categories I would
just yeah, clean up. That would be dominant clean up well,
like you know Billboard top hundred hits, like number Billboard
number one hits, like bang.
Speaker 1 (01:21:19):
Bang, Well I saw one I love it when they
have these brainy acts on there and they do ask
sports and like nobody knows any There was one how
many points do you get for a safety in football?
And nobody got it?
Speaker 11 (01:21:34):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
I think two of them got it wrong and the
other one didn't guess right. That's funny. It was one
three and no one gets.
Speaker 1 (01:21:42):
Right, and we think, you know, but like if you
don't follow football, like what the hell is the safe?
Speaker 6 (01:21:47):
Those people are so smart, they're like above it, They're
above football.
Speaker 1 (01:21:51):
Yeah. Kevin in South Carolina rights in my freshman year
roommate at you Mass was on house Painters, House Hunters. Sorry,
he confirms exactly the process you describe. The best part
of his tours was his South Shore accent and his
sister's talking about potties and hotwood floors. We put a
(01:22:11):
sign in our dorm room in two thousand and four
that said socks and seven after Poppy put one over
the wall after midnight. Not exactly a sign on Beacon Street,
but we left it up all year. Love the show.
Alex has the best passive TV taste. Go outside and
jump in a pool. It's summer, Okay, That's how.
Speaker 5 (01:22:32):
I feel it's too nice out to be watching TV.
Speaker 1 (01:22:35):
Yeah. Absolutely.
Speaker 6 (01:22:37):
Do you guys get fomo in the summer or not.
Speaker 5 (01:22:39):
It's not really fomo, but it's like you have this
urge to want to be outside at all times to
take advantage of it or be doing something outside because
you only have like two three months. So I get
stressed out on like a nice evening night where I'm like, well,
like let's go seat at a restaurant and sit out
on the patio, or like let's go hang out of
(01:23:00):
my mom's pool, or like I always have to be
doing something.
Speaker 1 (01:23:03):
Else take advantage of it.
Speaker 3 (01:23:05):
Absolutely, yeah, And with camp start next week, like you know,
one of my friends fight during the show. He actually
just texted me is like I just had a guy
drop out any interest in playing nine tomorrow?
Speaker 7 (01:23:15):
And I'm like.
Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
Trying to figure out and I'm like, yeah, it's gonna
be late enough. Yeah, I said, yeah, count me in,
Like because that's the kind of thing like once camp
starts next week, that's the poem moll Like, I'm you
won't be able to do as much for at least
a few weeks, right, We've got a.
Speaker 7 (01:23:30):
Couple of weeks of public practices.
Speaker 3 (01:23:33):
Yeah, twelve to and a half weeks, twelve total, so
it would be a while.
Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
The dates are available on pageres dot com. Yes, yep,
let's go back to the phones. We'll go to oh
in Houston. I, Oh, what's up? Oh?
Speaker 16 (01:23:49):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 4 (01:23:50):
Brad?
Speaker 25 (01:23:51):
Hey, Paul ab Hi He Yeah.
Speaker 26 (01:23:53):
I just want to say you got to do a
great job this off season. And then I have two
bush just one PU question and then one football related question.
My PU question is whatever happened with Mike from Florida?
Speaker 16 (01:24:08):
But when we used to go on long.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Tanges Mike and Stinky Florida, Yeah, I'm not sure.
Speaker 26 (01:24:13):
Yeah, you would get into long tanges and it would
be a little cringe most of the time.
Speaker 16 (01:24:21):
But I was just wondering, you know, if he's okay.
My football related question was that who.
Speaker 26 (01:24:28):
Do you think we're taking on the roster when it
comes to tight ends and at fullback and you think
is it's going to make an impact with as far
as protection for Drake may and the run game. I'll
take it off one guy.
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
Okay, tight end and full back. I mean they may
not have a fullback.
Speaker 3 (01:24:45):
Yeah, I mean I think most people feel like they're
going to keep that kid that I say that kid
because I don't remember his name in full back.
Speaker 7 (01:24:56):
Lobby Lobby, I don't know something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
But the tight ends, well, I mean Henry and Hooper,
I'd be surprised if they weren't, you know, the biggest
parts of that. But maybe Jack Westover has a shot
to be an extra tight end. I mean, jahem Bell
still here. These are kinds of things that you sort
of sift through as the camp practices start and you
(01:25:20):
start to see who the guys are that are filtering in.
And Jack Westover is the guy who filtered in a
lot during the springy Hooper missed some time with various ailments,
So yeah, I mean there'll be three.
Speaker 5 (01:25:33):
I was like a relationship there too. I think their
lockers were near each other.
Speaker 3 (01:25:37):
And Josh definitely likes a fullback, so I wouldn't rule
out the possibility.
Speaker 7 (01:25:42):
Why can I not think of the guy's name?
Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
It was a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
I thought it was Lobby l A B B. But
I might be wrong, Brett.
Speaker 1 (01:25:51):
While you're looking that up, Brett Lemonster writes in he
said Coldplay is the Christian from la of rock bands.
Speaker 7 (01:25:57):
Oh wow, it doesn't sound like.
Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
I'd rather smell Chris Martin's ex wife's candles than listen
to their music or Christian from La Wow, somebody doesn't
like Coldplay. I wanted to send this in when Evan
was there, but I'll probably forget by then. On two
different shows last week, he used the expression bigger than
his breeches, except both times he said bigger than his bridges.
(01:26:21):
I'm thinking he thinks of a monster truck on a
small bridge. This email is a little longer than my
typical ones. Can you forward this to Alix for consideration
of best email of the week? Now, doesn't it doesn't
hit it? The expression is too big for his bridges.
That's the proper expression, correct bridges, meaning your your pants.
Speaker 5 (01:26:44):
I kind of like that. We each have a expression
that we slightly had the wrong use the wrong word
for so it creates a new life.
Speaker 1 (01:26:54):
Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
Andy Hart was great at that for all intents and purposes.
Did you ever hear that phrase intense and purposes? Intensive purposes?
Speaker 1 (01:27:04):
I used to say, yeah, and then he would make
up names.
Speaker 7 (01:27:07):
Well, it's hingea Hingin.
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
It was one of his made up He still uses
that hingin on Rick and Louisville with the Jaws turning fifty.
I wanted Paul to share his favorite Matt Hooper line.
Speaker 7 (01:27:23):
A favorite Matt Hooper line. H how about.
Speaker 3 (01:27:33):
Let it go Quint. Let it go Quint. It's not
a shark.
Speaker 5 (01:27:38):
A listener tagged me in a TikTok, But they wanted
me to show you guys just about the history of
the Jaws movie poster. And it's apparently not a great
white shark on the poster.
Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
What is it a makou or I forget they yeah,
I did, it's the documentary, but.
Speaker 6 (01:27:55):
It's it's not a great white.
Speaker 3 (01:27:57):
I watched the documentary and they talked about that poster
a lot, and they didn't seem to say that. Not
call on anybody out here because I don't know Shark
short Fin Mago show.
Speaker 1 (01:28:11):
There you go see. I know my sharks, Brandon and
Maine will never stop talking about uniforms. I agree a
change is needed. So called blueberry uniforms are terrible. The
fix is really not complicated. Blue jersey, white jersey, red jersey,
(01:28:33):
the Nineties blues or the Dynasty Blues all are fine.
What we need to do is get rid of the
color rush crap or the jersey and pants are the
same color. That's the starter. However, the biggest change should
be the helmet. Just make it white. A white helmet
with the flying elvis is a thing of beauty. I
agree with that. I've always wanted to see that.
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
I would like to see a white helmet with that
yeah logo as well.
Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
I've seen. I've seen concept are posted on Twitter acts
show what this would look like in its absolute fire
white helmet with any of the blue or red jerseys,
white pants, and it doesn't get any better. Make it happen.
Speaker 3 (01:29:09):
Fred the fullback is brock lampy lampy.
Speaker 7 (01:29:14):
That was closed lobby lampy.
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
Close enough, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
The amount of consternation that uniforms create will never cease
to amine.
Speaker 1 (01:29:26):
People have very very strong opinions on apparel.
Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
Like I personally think that the Drew Bledsoe like nineties
era Patriots uniforms are among the ugliest things I've ever seen.
They're so cool, but who cares.
Speaker 5 (01:29:39):
A lot of nineties fashion was actually like, yeah, it
was really ugly, but so cool that it's not ugly.
Speaker 7 (01:29:46):
You know, And I just I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
I don't know how people lose sleep worrying about what
they were gonna wear.
Speaker 1 (01:29:54):
If they worry about those uniforms, Oh, it's like they
have to wear them, you know.
Speaker 5 (01:30:01):
But if the team had played well in them, right,
it wouldn't be a topic.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
See. I didn't particularly like the uniforms that they wont
all those Super Bowls in, but again, who cares what people?
Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
Aaron from Bonnie Dune writes in after listening to Tuesday's
show in Mike's story of ashes reminded me of something
my dad told me. He was in the Navy for
thirty years and at sea for twenty. Apparently one of
the common duties was to throw people's ashes overboard, and
he wants the same, but has a very specific time
and place he wants it done on. When I ask why,
(01:30:38):
he said, because at that area, at that time of day,
there's a consistent wind that comes in and blows the
ashes back into the faces of people on deck. Apparently
a lot of the old sailors request the exact same thing,
like some kind of traditional final hazing ritual. Also with
to talk about souls and consciousness after death, there are
(01:30:59):
some theories and research about whether or not consciousness is
a part of the quantum realm and that once the
physical vessel is gone, that information would most likely still
be present and functioning in the same capacity as it
did before. Thus you'd still be around after death. The
whole quantum world is absolutely nuts in sci fi magic
(01:31:19):
that no one understands. So who knows.
Speaker 5 (01:31:22):
There's a crazy rabbit hole that you can go down
where quantum physics meets Christianity and it's a wild ride.
Speaker 1 (01:31:29):
Well, I.
Speaker 5 (01:31:32):
It is very fascinating.
Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
There's a good book by Neil Stevenson called John Dodge
in Hell.
Speaker 3 (01:31:40):
Fall.
Speaker 1 (01:31:40):
It's got like two names, and it's all about this
guy who dies and he's rich and back then, well
in the future, they have this technology where they can
digitize your brain before you die, so that when you
die you come back to life in this digital world
and the world you create, the world from your the
(01:32:01):
memories that you had, from your religion and all this stuff.
And so the book is in like two sections, the
real world and then his digital world. It's I found
it fascinating. I really liked it. That's cool by Neil Stevenson,
Like I'm into all the biblical stuff, and like so
(01:32:21):
much of his digital world. You could see the biblical
stories that He learned as a kid that if he
was creating his world from scratch, came into play.
Speaker 6 (01:32:32):
YEA, that's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:32:33):
So say, I'm just superficial. I'm like you, I want
to go back and swing at that pitch that you
needn't right.
Speaker 1 (01:32:38):
Give me a second chance at everything that I did wrong.
Speaker 8 (01:32:40):
You know, yeah, it would you failed at that hitting
that ball, so that you could do whatever you would.
Speaker 1 (01:32:51):
Heaven would be due over heaven. It's all about about duovers.
Speaker 15 (01:32:56):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:32:59):
It's called there's two names. Is fall By It's by
Neil Stevenson or Dodging Hell or dodge in Hell. Yeah,
it's it's I would recommend it to anyone. It's it's
I found it fascinating.
Speaker 5 (01:33:14):
Neil Stephenson.
Speaker 1 (01:33:15):
Yeah, I read all his stuff. His last book sucked. Yeah,
it's all about.
Speaker 7 (01:33:21):
Like highly recommended this last book.
Speaker 1 (01:33:23):
It's all about climate engineering and all this stuff. I
thought it was stupid. Let's see who is this? Robert
writes it on a Tuesday show. You were talking about
your first experience watching Jaws.
Speaker 5 (01:33:36):
Oh, he wrote snow Crash.
Speaker 1 (01:33:37):
He did.
Speaker 6 (01:33:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:33:39):
His first book was Cryptonomicon, which was which got him
on the everybody's radar.
Speaker 3 (01:33:46):
What number did he wear in the seventies?
Speaker 1 (01:33:48):
Come on, Neil Stevenson, what's participase for?
Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
Everybody can play.
Speaker 5 (01:33:52):
Sci fi books?
Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:33:55):
Uh So in seventy five, I was six years old,
and my memory is a bit fuzzy. What I do
remember is my older brother wanting to sit in the
front row. This, of course, meant I had to sit
in the front row when the head popped out of
the boat. This is exactly what I said. When the
head popped out of the boat. I ran back to
where my mother was sitting and watched the rest of
the movie with her hand over my eyes. No worries.
(01:34:17):
Therapy wasn't necessary, as Jaws remains in my top ten
of all time movies. My brother, however, made claims that
I peed my pants. Fake news. Now a football related question.
Of all the free agent additions, who are you most
worried might be a bust? Most worried? Most were Milton
Williams to be a bust because he hasn't played full time.
Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
That's a good pick, Fred, because you can't just say, like, well,
mac Hollins is going to be a bust. Well, okay,
well he's like, you know, fourth or fifth receiver, a
special teams guy. You know that's not.
Speaker 7 (01:34:50):
But they invested a lot into Milton.
Speaker 1 (01:34:53):
Williams to be something.
Speaker 3 (01:34:54):
He has to back. He has yet to be right,
So that would be if he turned out to be
a bust, that would.
Speaker 7 (01:34:59):
Be yeah, I would that would be pissed think the answer.
Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
But I'll just for digs one B.
Speaker 7 (01:35:05):
I'm going to go with Will Campbell. Okay, if he's
a bus that's yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:35:09):
But he's not a free agent.
Speaker 3 (01:35:10):
Oh sorry, yeah, an't.
Speaker 6 (01:35:13):
Listening an addition, but not a free agency edition?
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
Correct?
Speaker 20 (01:35:16):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:35:17):
Travis and Adams writesin always enjoyed the show as a
twenty five year veteran of the VFX industry. That's visual
effects for you, not in the Hollywood business. I couldn't
resist jumping in when you brought up special effects and
Jaws and how they might not feel as convincing if
done today with today's VFX. It's a close topic to
(01:35:40):
my heart. VFX often gets a bad rap, and while
I completely understand why there's a lot of work out
there that looks obviously artificial, usually comes down to one thing. Money.
Studios either try to cut costs and do it on
the cheap, or they go the opposite direction and spend
so much on a creature or effect that they insisted
becomes the centerpiece of the shot. More often than not,
(01:36:03):
these choices could make it harder for VFX to shine.
The thing is, VFX is just a tool, and when
it's used properly, it could be completely invisible to the
naked eye. Just figured i'd throw my two cents in. Yeah,
I can see that.
Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
I think it's like anything else is good and bad.
Speaker 5 (01:36:21):
I wonder how AI will change the graphic production AI.
Speaker 20 (01:36:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:36:25):
Well, speaking of speaking of your shows, the report, yeah
about Drake.
Speaker 7 (01:36:32):
May Yeah, unfortunate.
Speaker 3 (01:36:34):
Anyway, I was learning a little bit about that because
I didn't know that I had been talked about on
the air like that. But yeah, I think they talked
about it this morning. Remember when we used to do
the show on wlv I channel fifty six.
Speaker 7 (01:36:49):
Yeah, Mike rete Stinger, Yes, yes, that show.
Speaker 15 (01:36:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:36:52):
So I was out to eat during vacation, Beth and
I went, and it made me think of it when
Alex was talking about like the foll mall, like, oh,
it's beautiful night, let's go out in the deck. While
we're out in a deck, beautiful night right on the
water in Beverly, and one of the lv I producers
came up. His name was George, and I sort of
(01:37:14):
I didn't recognize him when I saw he was. He
was like sitting right behind us. But when they were
done eating, he came over and introduced himself and I
did remember him as he started talking, and it was
one of the producers on those shows, and it was
definitely st Stinger that kind of time, and he's like,
how's Fred doing You still it's Fred Stilee. I was like, yeah,
like you still still my boss? Well, he wondered if
(01:37:35):
he was still there on Earth, and it was just
just reminding me of that with all this stuff you
just said with like I said Alex talking about follm MO,
because that was exactly what we did. We're on vacation,
it's a beautiful night, let's go outside and eat somewhere.
Speaker 7 (01:37:53):
And then that guy comes up.
Speaker 1 (01:37:54):
And says, hello, Yeah, we used to do the Well
that was like it was twenty years of PFW progress
back then. But we did the TV show at Channel
fifty six. People in Boston, well aware of what that
station is. It's c W now, yeah, it's the c
W and we did it in their studios and Mike Bretay,
who was their sports guy, was the host and uh
Mike Woncom Mike Woncom was the weather guy channel for
(01:38:18):
he'd come over and give us the he was great
the weather, what he thought it would be for the game,
and and Retae would host the show and he'd have
like the yellow challenge, not the challenge flag, but the penalty.
Speaker 7 (01:38:30):
We argued, threw a flag. He blow the whistle and
throw a flag.
Speaker 1 (01:38:33):
Was usually me and Brian And one time he was
he was teaching us terms that they use in TV,
like SOD and stinger and in the middle of the show,
I just I just yelled. I just yelled at I
yelled out stinger and like he froze, like like what
do you do with you can't.
Speaker 7 (01:38:51):
Say that, like like sod is sound on tape right?
Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
I took broadcasting so out of nowhere Fred.
Speaker 1 (01:39:00):
And he like he didn't know what to do, Like
he froze in the middle of the show. It was funny.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
Those to drive, but those are those are the salad days. Yeah,
we had to drive all the way to uh, all
the way georgiester.
Speaker 24 (01:39:14):
That was a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:39:15):
Well, it was right next to the Globe, there's studios.
Speaker 3 (01:39:18):
That's where the hub has since moved, Yes Boulevard, Yeah,
right next to where the old Sports Hub was.
Speaker 1 (01:39:26):
They've moved, They've moved, things have changed, Paul, Yeah, we've
seen it all.
Speaker 3 (01:39:30):
It's good though, because that's that was That was a
tough ride. It was the Waltham studios.
Speaker 7 (01:39:35):
Now it's easy nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:39:37):
Yeah, Sean's and Vancouver. What's up?
Speaker 27 (01:39:40):
Seand I got a few things, Alex. I completely agree
with you about reality shows. I feel the same way,
except I have one extra caveat as an actor, I
always need there to be more scripted productions. So that's
another reason I don't watch that stuff. Uh hey, back
to when they were asking about Robin Williams versus Tom Hanks.
(01:40:00):
To me, Tom Hanks is the most reliable actor, but
Robin Williams was absolutely the best improviser at all of
all times. And you know, as a director, you have
to try and figure out how we're going to like
reel it in, how we're going to get the world
of according to guard performance where there's no improv or
we're going to.
Speaker 16 (01:40:17):
Go completely the other way with missus doubtfire. So it
was like a delicate balance and.
Speaker 27 (01:40:22):
You can land up with the survivors where you don't
have the spirit and you're just relying on his improblem
and it doesn't work. Now with the number of the guarantee,
thing like which team do we guarantee to me? It
would be the Browns because in terms of right now
where the Auths are there at five and a half
(01:40:42):
favorites to beat the Browns home, and it's like middle
of the season. They know the quarterback. So that's the
one I would guarantee at this point if I had
to put a gun in my head. But in terms
of Alex's if it's a wish for a guarantee to me,
be the Ravens because that's the most unlikely one in Baltimore.
And also just to point stuff, they will be at Tennessee, Paul,
so that brings it down a time, but they can then.
Speaker 3 (01:41:05):
I would stick with New Orleans. Then today New Orleans
is worse than Tennessee.
Speaker 27 (01:41:08):
No, that's another one of the six.
Speaker 16 (01:41:10):
Yeah for sure.
Speaker 27 (01:41:12):
Now, I like the Shawn's point, you know, like we
need to draft O R. Terry McLaurin, and I know
we haven't drafted uh first or second day wide receiver
since Stanley Morgan in nineteen seventy seven.
Speaker 7 (01:41:25):
But I'm hoping or last year exact.
Speaker 27 (01:41:28):
Well last year noted. I don't think we did Eather
hopefully maybe, but I don't think that's.
Speaker 7 (01:41:33):
Hope is a second round pick, Yeah, that's stays two.
Speaker 27 (01:41:36):
I'm saying, like, which one really hit?
Speaker 3 (01:41:38):
Like we're you know, oh you know, you go back
to Dion wrong, but well see, I'm.
Speaker 27 (01:41:44):
Ructually they trade it, so not completely like maybe if
he stayed the whole time instead of being traded Seattle,
that would it be it. But to me, it's like
the one hunt.
Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
Of caveats an MVP.
Speaker 7 (01:41:55):
Yeah, yeah that's a hit.
Speaker 27 (01:41:57):
Well yeah he was great, but but yeah, I mean
completely But.
Speaker 1 (01:42:00):
The fact they didn't stick with him doesn't mean he
wasn't a.
Speaker 3 (01:42:02):
Good My fault that Belichick didn't pay him.
Speaker 27 (01:42:05):
No, a lot of you know, injuries are not going
fault guys too with Malcolm Mitchell, so you never know.
But I'd love it to completely work out with Kyle
Williams and he was the third round pick, as with
Terry McLaurin. So there there's that. Now with Jaws, I
saw that in the theater and when it came out
(01:42:25):
in a gun could name with my family and the
next day we went into the water. So we we
loved it as a movie, but we didn't take it seriously.
Speaker 1 (01:42:34):
It didn't affect you that I didn't, thanks Sean. A
lot of people it did, like they were like, I'm done.
Speaker 3 (01:42:40):
We were down the Cape on vacation and I did
not go in the ocean the rest of the trip.
Speaker 5 (01:42:46):
To the oceans on the caber the Sharknfest.
Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
Oh yeah, everybody left.
Speaker 6 (01:42:51):
I don't swim on the ocean side anymore. I'm strictly
on the bay side.
Speaker 7 (01:42:55):
It's warmer.
Speaker 1 (01:42:56):
Yeah, yeah, bay side is warm, way warmer.
Speaker 3 (01:43:01):
Okay, yeah, like the seashore is cold, yeah, right, that
the National Sea.
Speaker 1 (01:43:06):
I don't know about that, No wrong, I think I
think that you get the Gulf of Mexico stream on
the south side of the Cape. On the Bay side,
you don't. You don't get any of that.
Speaker 7 (01:43:18):
I'll defer to you guys because experience down there.
Speaker 5 (01:43:21):
But I thought it was from my experience, and my
experience is lower Cape, outer Cape really turo and wealthy,
so great hollow Beach and Churo super super warm. Whereas
you go to like head of the Meadow or like
Marcon facing England right exactly, much colder and rockier, whereas
(01:43:42):
the bayside really sandy.
Speaker 1 (01:43:44):
Okay, that's what I last thought. I said.
Speaker 7 (01:43:48):
You guys have much more experience down there than I do.
Speaker 5 (01:43:50):
So that's how I feel. Maybe it's different more upper cape,
but in the lower cape. That's how I see it.
Provincetown Harbor too, Like if you're right on the tip
on Long Point, we'll take the boat out there and
then at low tide it creates like a new beach.
Speaker 6 (01:44:06):
It's so warm, it's like the.
Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
Best Jeff in Canada. I was looking at last year,
and we all know we lost thirteen games. Seven were
blowouts which were lost as by two plus scores, six
were one score games. If we're really serious about contending
for a playoff spop, we need to flip the script
and win more of those close games. If you can
only pick two of the five hypothetical improvements below that
(01:44:32):
were all problems last year that might make it possible
to win ten games this season, Which two would you pick?
There is five of them. You have to pick two. A.
Less sacks allowed, B better game management in the last
two minutes of the second and fourth quarters, C better
run defense, D less fumbles, or E A single pass
(01:44:55):
catcher with at least eighty catches. So you have to
pick two to get to you A ten wins. He
is one single pass catcher with at least eighty catches.
Speaker 3 (01:45:06):
Yeah, I'd probably say, like, I'd probably just go with
the fumbles, just because turnovers kill you.
Speaker 1 (01:45:16):
What sacks a problem last year? Like number of sacks?
Speaker 7 (01:45:19):
That a trick question.
Speaker 1 (01:45:21):
Well, I mean, like, you know, like, but we're a
lot of sacks because he's running around and you know
the play.
Speaker 3 (01:45:26):
Their offensive line was ran cheese. Okay, thirty one run blocking,
thirty two pass blocking or the other way around.
Speaker 1 (01:45:33):
All right, So I'll take I'll take I'll take A
and E. Then less sacks allowed and single pass catcher
with eighty catches.
Speaker 3 (01:45:40):
Okay, yeah, I'll go with those two. You talk me
out of my gift one.
Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
Give Drake more time and that you know, helps improve everything.
Speaker 5 (01:45:48):
The whole offense improves with that.
Speaker 1 (01:45:50):
Yeah, Okay, good question. I guess Bill and san Diego Paul,
you say you guys work for Channel fifty six. I'm
from Maine and I love that station as a kid
in Auburn, Cable equal channels fifty six and thirty eight
from Boston. It's a French station and the standard ABCNBCCBS
(01:46:13):
and PBS whatever happened to those Boston channels. As a
kid in the seventies and eighties, there were none better.
That's all we had. Yeah, think he said.
Speaker 3 (01:46:21):
Fifty six and thirty eight. Yeah, that was the version
of cable.
Speaker 1 (01:46:24):
Thirty eight still there.
Speaker 3 (01:46:26):
So it's fifty six, it's it's it's cw in whatever
they call thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:46:33):
Eight.
Speaker 7 (01:46:33):
It's something like that. Yeah, is it my thirty eight?
Speaker 1 (01:46:39):
I think it's called my thirty eight.
Speaker 3 (01:46:41):
No, I don't know, something like that. But they're not
the same like they used to be. What he's talking
about is it was clearly it was local Boston generated programming.
And then like a lot of reruns of old sitcoms
One Tree Hill. One Tree Hill was probably on on
CWAW when it was a network. But like when I
(01:47:05):
was growing up, you'd get like on channel fifty six,
you'd get Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch, you know, stuff like that.
Speaker 7 (01:47:11):
Thirty eight would always.
Speaker 1 (01:47:12):
Have Mash three Stooges, Three.
Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
Stooges Marathons, The Odd Coupled Dick Van Dyke, Yeah, and
you know the Honeymooners Dana Hersey, Yeah, the movie Loft,
the movie Loft. They show the Deer Hunter, asked the manager,
remember that show. I do remember it, but I didn't
watch that.
Speaker 1 (01:47:28):
It got high ratings at the time. What would that
be no back then, asked the manager. On thirty eight
was one of their most popular shows.
Speaker 3 (01:47:37):
But they went to like National Networks and it was
like the WB I think was the original fifty six. Yeah,
and I think it was like I thought it was
like UPN or something for fifty for thirty eight and
they had like fifty six had like original programming that
was like I want to say, like Dawson's Creek may
have been on fifty six.
Speaker 1 (01:47:56):
Do you remember twenty seven out of Worcester.
Speaker 3 (01:47:58):
Channel twenty seven, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I used to watch
wrestling on that all Yeah, yeah WWWWF at the time, okay,
before they changed it to E.
Speaker 1 (01:48:09):
I mean back, I mean you think about like how
Caveman we were back then. You know you had the
two dials. One was VHF, one was uh you know,
and then you know you'd have that die that rim
around the dial where you could tune it in to
make the picture better.
Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
That's when twenty five first came in too. Yeah, you
started to get the local twenty five that's now Fox,
Like it was just Channel twenty five on yours.
Speaker 1 (01:48:37):
Oh yeah, they had the rabbit ears.
Speaker 3 (01:48:39):
But then cable came in and you had you know,
you had like in our house, I don't know what
kind of like. It was a brown like rectangular box
with a long wire that was attached from the box
attached to the TV, but you could move it to
wheat wharstle. Literally you would stand in with your fingers
on the buttons like this and right just like there
(01:49:02):
was like fifteen buttons across. You'd switch like the bands
and be like a IMF maam, and you searched to
like whatever tier you wanted to be on.
Speaker 1 (01:49:09):
The original remotes were wired, so there was a long
wire from your TV to the remote.
Speaker 6 (01:49:14):
I should bring that back.
Speaker 3 (01:49:16):
I never had a remote that was wired like that.
The actual box itself was wired. But then then the
remotes came in.
Speaker 1 (01:49:22):
It was like, oh wow, we don't need to change
Paul's life.
Speaker 3 (01:49:25):
We don't need to be to get up. I could
just have my diet, pepsi and piece.
Speaker 1 (01:49:32):
Yeah, I don't have to disconnect my ivy. Mike writes
in Belichick Versus Craft Versus Brady. At one time, Paul
said on the Brady Versus Belichick comparison he would give
a slight edge to Brady for the Patriots success. I
agree with Paul, what do you think the ratio would be? Now?
I think, based on the post Brady era, you'd have
(01:49:54):
to give TV twelve the vast majority of the credit.
Speaker 7 (01:49:56):
And now I'm going to agree with you.
Speaker 1 (01:49:59):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 3 (01:50:00):
I've changed my tune on that one.
Speaker 1 (01:50:03):
I'm pretty much done with the Brady Versus Belichick book
by Gary Myers, and he.
Speaker 7 (01:50:07):
Agrees, but you still haven't really found my well.
Speaker 1 (01:50:10):
He gives up the uh. He says what he thinks
it's going to be before the book ends, and then
the last part of the book is alternate universe stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:50:21):
Oh you know, is it better?
Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
No?
Speaker 7 (01:50:24):
No, because I know you were kind of luke.
Speaker 1 (01:50:25):
I haven't finished yet.
Speaker 3 (01:50:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah, I would agree. I was
always like sort of a fifty to fifty ish maybe
a slight edge to Brady kind of guy. But since
since Brady left. I've recognized the errors of my ways.
Brady had more to do with that than I gave
him credit for.
Speaker 1 (01:50:46):
I don't know if we've played this one before. This
is Brett, Kyle and Pembroke. Who will have a better season?
Ramandre Stevenson or Nick Chubb Stevenson the Mario Douglas or Douglas,
Drake May or bow Knicks. I'm gonna go Drake May
(01:51:07):
Gonzo or Sauce Gardner Gonzo.
Speaker 3 (01:51:11):
That's the same.
Speaker 7 (01:51:12):
They both, They're both excellent. Kyle Williams or Poke Gonzo.
Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
Just to say, Homer Kyle Williams or Poke Kyle Williams.
Speaker 1 (01:51:20):
Mac Jones forty nine ers backup or Bailey Zappi Chiefs backup.
Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
Zappi.
Speaker 1 (01:51:29):
Well, who let's let's do this one again. Who do
you think will play more? Mac Jones or Bailey Zappy.
Speaker 3 (01:51:36):
I don't think either one of them has any better
odds of playing well. I'm thinking injury, yeah, Like like
both of the guys have been pretty durable.
Speaker 1 (01:51:43):
I don't pretty goes down like he misses time within games,
you know, like where Mac Jones got in quite a
bit right last year, didn't played in Jacksonville Oh that's right. Yeah, okay,
pretty doesn't he get hurt and he has to sit
out of Well.
Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
He got hurt in the NFC Championship game and he
had to leave the game. But I don't know how
many games he's missed over the year. He's probably missed something.
He's probably missed more games than Mahomes. Sure, okay, but
Zappie is still better, So I'm going with Zappy.
Speaker 1 (01:52:15):
All right. You think Zappi is better than Matt Show, Wow?
Speaker 7 (01:52:19):
I think they both stink.
Speaker 1 (01:52:22):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
I'll take the guy.
Speaker 1 (01:52:24):
First round pick. Boston Cream's on the line. What's up,
Boston Cream?
Speaker 16 (01:52:31):
Hey, guys, that last trivia kind of stepped on my
toes here, But if you'd like more trivia, I can.
Speaker 23 (01:52:38):
Okay, okay, as career Patriots who had more passing yards
Doug flute or Bailey Zappi?
Speaker 1 (01:52:47):
Who has more passing yards Doug Flutie or Bailey Zapi Zapi? Correct,
that's kind of a like, why would you do that
if it wasn't true? Because you obviously think, well, Doug
Flutie must happy because but.
Speaker 7 (01:53:01):
Yeah, why would you think that Doug Flutie must have.
Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
More because didn't he play more than Zappy.
Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
For the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (01:53:08):
Oh did he just say Patriots?
Speaker 7 (01:53:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:53:11):
Okay, even then, didn't he play more than Zappy?
Speaker 3 (01:53:15):
I don't know if the only there was a way
we could look at him anyway.
Speaker 6 (01:53:18):
I got what you're saying, though, you're like psychoanalyzing the question.
Speaker 1 (01:53:21):
Yeah, okay, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:53:23):
He dismisses the importance of getting it correct.
Speaker 7 (01:53:26):
When you get it correct, keep going.
Speaker 16 (01:53:29):
More interceptions as the Patriots stepan Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (01:53:34):
More interceptions, see my gut, says Grogan.
Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Because of I'm going to say, I'm going to say Grogan,
but I understand how many more passes Brady through then Grogan,
I'm still going to say Grogan.
Speaker 1 (01:53:47):
I'm going to say Brady.
Speaker 7 (01:53:51):
Oh okay, no one's through interceptions.
Speaker 23 (01:53:54):
I'm going to swing it up here. Disease are kind
of leading you guys. One player has multiple safe he's
in Patriots history. Can you name that player?
Speaker 7 (01:54:02):
One players multiple safeties.
Speaker 3 (01:54:05):
And Patriots like he caused them or h ty.
Speaker 4 (01:54:10):
Warren Don Blackman, Don Blackman.
Speaker 7 (01:54:16):
Sure that's a good trivia question.
Speaker 1 (01:54:18):
Sure I like that.
Speaker 16 (01:54:18):
One yea to left year. I know we're running an
other time. There are twenty one forty four players since
the merger who have fifteen plus career NFL carries. This
Patriots player ranked first in all in rushing touchdowns per carries.
Speaker 1 (01:54:37):
Oh, Jarvis, I mean a law firm, Ben and Jarvis
green ellis.
Speaker 16 (01:54:46):
James Devlin at thirty Okay, and not least here.
Speaker 13 (01:54:54):
This clever left handed pitcher relied on control of the
strike zone and surrendered Barry you walk in addition to
captaining his team and his junior and sees its senior year.
Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
That's not very nice, Boston Cream.
Speaker 1 (01:55:13):
I believe that.
Speaker 3 (01:55:16):
For his school, right, he'll live somewhere online because it's
a word for word what Jim Murray read to.
Speaker 1 (01:55:21):
I believe that person ended up in his school's hall
of Fame.
Speaker 16 (01:55:25):
Yep, unlike all of us. Thanks guys, having.
Speaker 1 (01:55:27):
All right, thank you. The one long ball Parolo, long
ball Paul, long ball rhyme.
Speaker 3 (01:55:36):
Yeah, that's what Scott Peoli dubbed me. He was long
ball Paul.
Speaker 5 (01:55:40):
That's a great nickname.
Speaker 1 (01:55:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:55:41):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (01:55:42):
Was Peoli a good baseball player?
Speaker 3 (01:55:43):
No, he didn't play baseball. Oh, he just went because
Scott was very good friends with one of my childhood
friends who they played football together at Central Connecticut. So
when we played Central Connecticut, my friend would go and
they all went and watched me, and I gave up
a Titanic home run and he's called me hornball Paul
ever since.
Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
So what was your body language when you would give
up a home run? What do you think would you
be like throwing your mid down.
Speaker 3 (01:56:09):
My body language when someone says something I disagree with.
Speaker 1 (01:56:12):
So you would huffing and puffet yelling at your catch.
Speaker 3 (01:56:15):
I was like in terms of getting hit, I was.
I was actually okay. Like if I wasn't pitching particularly well,
I think I would be okay. It's when I thought
I was getting squeezed by the umpire that, as my
mother would say, anybody that's in the park at the
time would know exactly how I was doing, just based
on one.
Speaker 7 (01:56:36):
Like five second glance at me.
Speaker 6 (01:56:38):
How many times did you get ejected.
Speaker 3 (01:56:40):
While playing None. I did get ejected from the bench once. Okay,
Southern Maine and uh so I left. I left the
dugout and I'm standing like outside of the dugout in
the back, and the guy's like, you can't stay there.
Speaker 7 (01:56:58):
And I moved to another sparty because you can ant
stay there.
Speaker 15 (01:57:00):
I go.
Speaker 3 (01:57:00):
Where do you want me to go, and he goes
back to Boston and it was like alumni day at
Southern Maine, so it was actually a decent crowd and
there was a roar of laughter.
Speaker 5 (01:57:11):
My one of my best friends from high school, her
stepdad coached all our guy friends in baseball, so we
would all go to the games all the time. And
another friend lived. Her backyard was adjacent to the baseball
field and she had a treehouse right over the home
dugout essentially like separated by a fence. So my friend's stepdad,
he was like, he's the best, but huge hot head
(01:57:33):
got ejected. He'd get ejected like every other game. But
one day he went into our other friend's yard and
was like yelling into the game from the tree as.
Speaker 6 (01:57:42):
Shout out bub bull.
Speaker 3 (01:57:44):
I've never done that for it was incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:57:48):
We'll end the show with this email about music at
inappropriate times, you know, stemming off of Produce's story, said,
my parents live on a street with an assisted living
apartment on one end in a home on the other.
Needless to say, there are often ambulances and medical visits.
One day I was out front doing yard work, listening
to music. I looked up to see the ambulance in
(01:58:10):
front of the nursing home, and another one bites the
dust by Queen King. I had to go inside. I
was laughing so hard.
Speaker 7 (01:58:18):
That's your email of the week.
Speaker 1 (01:58:20):
I just forwarded. All right, that's going to be it
for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back next
week with what Alex is promising to be an historic
show when we do guess the listener.
Speaker 5 (01:58:35):
I'm there's a lot of faces and names that I
got tripped up by, and I see the names connected
to the faces. So there's a lot of listeners that
I think you guys are going to be really surprised
on what they look like.
Speaker 7 (01:58:47):
I'm going to be terrible at this game.
Speaker 1 (01:58:49):
I think that's gonna be fun.
Speaker 5 (01:58:50):
I think it'll be fun too. Maybe I can work
with Matt, so you like, right, yeah, well I have
them all So I'm hey, Matt, maybe we could like
in live in production, put like the picture that we're
talking about up on the screen.
Speaker 1 (01:59:04):
Yeah, well, yeah, we have to make it visual.
Speaker 5 (01:59:06):
Right, Well, like I was saying, it's better than me
holding like a cutout like printed.
Speaker 1 (01:59:10):
Oh yeah yeahhot, no, right, yeah, I have it actually
on the screen. Yeah, okay, cool, all right, we'll see
you next Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (01:59:19):
Hey, this is Deuce. Thanks for tuning into the show.
