Speaker 3 (00:54):
I'm youre.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Hey, everybody, Welcome into another episode of the Tailgate, brought
to you by Ticketmaster. I'm your host, Siaminson, across from me,
your co host, the great Chad Daniels and Chatty Daddy.
Not an awesome time to be a Viking fan?

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Disagree?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Well, I mean, it's always a good time, but it's
it is so I think having this show the last
few years.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
And I don't mind this at all.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
I like this, but a lot of fans who listen
to our other show and this show, who are also
Viking fans, you just wind up in a lot of conversations. Sure,
you become a bouncing point for people's thoughts and ideas,
and when the team scores zero points for the first
time since two thousand and seven, people start throwing stuff

(01:48):
your direction. They start going, this is what's happening. This
is what's happening. And so you know, I think I
don't think anybody thought we would be here right right.
But what I told a bunch of people in the DMS,
as the kids say, what I told a bunch of
people is the thing that I and I'm not trying

(02:08):
to be sunnyside up, is I just here's the thing.
Sports are an escape for me. They're a place for joy,
and when they become not joy filled from a winning standpoint,
I still have to frame them that way because I'm
not going to be somebody who walks around miserable because
a sports team is losing.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
I'm not gonna do that.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
That's not wow. Then I'd like to know what is
making you miserable, but so.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Much other stuff.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Yeah, and there must be let the sports, Yeah, there
must be. I think, listen, nobody ever wants to play
the game as long as you should. Everybody ups the annie,
everybody makes it more crazy than it needs to be.
And I still think this team has a lot of positives.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Well and to me, you know, and I don't even
need to be mister positive guy.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
I just like, here's my big.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Takeaway because I've been lucky enough to be a part
of the organization for a while now. Like, and I
told people this in the DMS. When you at the
end of the season, they release these organizational grades and
and there, how do you do from a player rehabilitation standpoint?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
What's your food like?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Like? And the vikings every aspect of the organization, all
these things you never think about as a fan. The
Vikings are always right at the top.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
They're one or two in all the grades.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
And I think that's why they attract high end coaches
like Flores Josh McCown. I think that's why, you know,
assistant coaches. I think that's why it was such a
coveted head coaching position. It's just a really well run group.
And so to me, when you get in a moment
like this, whereas I think with other teams you might

(03:47):
like and other sports, like, sometimes it can feel destitute,
right or hopeless if I used words I don't understand.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Correctly, and you always do.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
I'm just not going to at me from trying, right.
But I continue to believe that the number one thing
in sports is ownership and organizational structure, especially in the NFL,
where it's a true salary cap sport, there is real parody.
Look at what's happening in the NFL right now, Like

(04:20):
jur producer said this before the show, there's a real
scenario where the Ravens, the Bills, and the Chiefs all
missed the playoffs. Yeah, the the Bears.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Are that tied for the number one seed.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I know so they are, and we gave them hell
both games.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Dude, think of how we were so close on the
second game.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Do you think of how like how short of a
distance it is between right now and when that debacle
happened on Thanksgiving, like and and now they're the number
one seed, right and so in these moments like I
can't tell you to not be upset. I think the
people who are the mos host upset. Are the people

(05:01):
actually participating.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
You can see it on their faces.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Yeah, they're they're they're upset. So I like to remind
people that I think we do have a really strong organization,
and I don't think they're gonna go a long direction
away from turning the right corner. I don't know when,
I don't know how, but I but I that's kind
of where I put all my positivity in moments like this,

(05:26):
because I remember what it was like when we didn't
have an organization.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Like that, right.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
And I also want to say here regarding the quarterback situation,
Sam Darnold was a great quarterback before he got here, right,
he was good with the jet. He didn't have an offense,
and then he sat behind guys and so he he
was good. He went in the first round. He gets here,
he's got a great offense, and he performs right. It's

(05:55):
not like the air in Minnesota pumped his right arm.
I mean, we have to remember that the two people
were talking about here, JJ McCarthy and Max Brosmer is
like they're young kids. And I've said this before on
the show. They're gonna struggle. There's gonna be growing pains
and there's gonna be problems. But I don't think giving

(06:16):
up on him. I mean, you know, I wonder if
if all the all the people having trouble with this
listening right now, when they're when their children weren't walking
by the time they were four months old, they.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Thought, well, that's it. I guess we just buy him
a chair.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I guess we drag him for twenty years.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Yeah, I guess we just give him a lazy boy.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Well.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
The other question I've gotten a lot from people is
how you know, Oh no, Justin. Justin Jefferson is the
guy I'm the least concerned about in the history of
you know this, This is a fan base like fairness
to this city. They have lost sports loves right. KG
goes to Boston, wins titles. Urtees goes to Boston, wins titles.

(06:59):
Randy ma gone, like Steph Marberry breaks up the original
power duo.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
They're like, you know who never left? I'm just gonna
throw out you know who never left? Joe Mauer. Even
when Alex Rodriguez was knocking his championship ring on a
table when they were all together, he still said, no chance.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
It's a great story. I always forget about that.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
You know, one thing I wish that we could change
as Minnesota fans that I'm kind of tired of. And
I'm gonna go at the fans here a little bit
so you can reel me back in. We're actually not
that special. We act like we're like we have a
really long championship drought.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
That is true for the four major sports. It's absurd.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
But we like, we're not the only organization to miss
a kick. We're not the only like, go look at
all we talked about the Browns earlier year. There's a
lot of like almost every organization has a series of
plays where they go the interception, the kick.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Like things that have screwed them.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
So yeah, it's it's it's the the something. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
So I don't I don't think you need to sit around.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
And I think justin Jefferson is this high team character
related of a guy. And I like that he's upset,
you know you want your or he appears upset.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
I would say frustrated. It's the better word.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Yeah, like you want that. Now, what I will tell you,
Chad is did I am I? In Paul Charchion's.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Official Guillotine League League.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Like the one with the Paul with the Paul himself,
And did I play it so exceptionally this year where
I had the most money, And did I get a
chance at Justin Jefferson oh before the Lions game or so,
and take a swing and spend a lot of my
free agency dollars?

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (08:39):
And am I worried as I head into the playoffs
with my first chance ever at a title that that decision?
So do do I have a Listen? I'm heavily invested,
sure in Justin Jefferson's performance, and even I not worried
about the dude at all.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Two things, I'm in a different league with you, and
I see where your standings are, and I'm not worried
about you having to be worried about anything because you're
not good at it.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
And secondly, you.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Get you get so many people talking about we haven't
had a title in forever, and you go what about
eighty seven? What about ninety one with the twins? And
then you get kids going like, oh, I wasn't born.
Then it's like, well, you should have tried harder to
be born back when born in this state.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
I've said that for years.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Is it time I've thought about, like, do we have
enough the Guillotine leagues?

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Have you played Guillotine League before?

Speaker 4 (09:28):
I have yet?

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Are you still in the are you still in the
Tim Harmsten absolutely friend of the show. I can't do
regular fantasy because.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Regular fantasy can't do you.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
It doesn't I don't need that. I don't feel like
there's a lot of skill in it. It's just whoever,
whoever drafted Jonathan Taylor in the fourth round this year
because nobody thought.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
He was gonna be good.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Guess what, that's who's probably gonna win your league.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Yeah, but you don't play one guy. You play two
running backs, a quarterback, two receivers, a tight end, a
defensive kicker, and the swing.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
You know, I'm right, it's called the flex i like
the Guillotine League for those who aren't familiar.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Because everybody Vante Adams.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
I took DeVante Adams And you're gonna tell me that's lucky,
that's skill, dude.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
I watched him in receiver. I like his atagudes and
I love that he has a taco bell in his house.
So I took him thinking like that nutrition plus the
new Rams offense boo yah, and guess what I am winning, winning, winning.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
Do you like the Guillotine League?

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yeah, So, for those who aren't familiar, everybody you get
like sixteen or seventeen guys.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Everybody plays. Everybody the lowest scorachweek is kicked out.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
You have a certain amount of free agency dollars all
year to spend, and you blindly bid on the players
of the guy who got kicked out each week. It
is if everybody is heavily invested in the way the
game is played, it's the most fun fantasy game I've
ever played. If not everybody is, somebody gets like Saquon
Barkley for a dollar and the whole league is pointless.

(10:57):
But if everybody's invested, I'm obst asked with it. Do
you think I've been I've been waiting on this because
you don't like to get involved. You and I are
two tangled, right. I think I think we're involved in
too many things together.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Oh, there's no question your son or other podcast, dude.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
Our other other podcasts that hasn't come out yet, size
Gray's Anatomy, a Gray's Anatomy review podcast where I tell
you about each episode as I watch.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
It, and then I just reply that your son is
my son.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
The But I do think we should intertwine deeper, and
I think we should start a comedian's guillotine league.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
Nobody will take it serious, here's the problem with it.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
But then do we do a non comedian's guillotine.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
We have to we have to find some people that
really care about winning. Yeah, because comedians, comedians especially now,
comedians are like, I don't want to win. I just
want to have fun, and I want to make sure
everyone else has fun. Comedians right now are great grandmas.
I just want everybody to tie.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
I want to talk about why losing matters.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
I want to talk about why losing is good for you? Yeah,
why is that? Who is who are we doing? I
know we're doing mic.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Croning very specific micron.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Very specifically, Mike Cronin. That's a shot that not everybody
in the audience is going to understand. But your Minnesota
Vikings are playing Washington this week. I'm I'm gonna remain
curious as we go forward. That's where I'm gonna say,
let's go to commercial. I want to talk a little
bit about because I will unwind if I focus.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
Too hard on where we're at.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
I want to focus a little bit on the insanity
that is the rest of the league.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Well, let me let me throw this out. Let me
throw this out first.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I hate to interrupt you, but I do want to
use this segment to let people know that are listening
that if you have your headphones plugged into your computer
and you have slippers on and it's winter, don't drag
your feet on the carpet when your headphones are in
because an electric bolt will go from one headphone to
the other and it will fry your brain. Anyways, I

(13:00):
feel great, that hurt.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
What were you saying.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
You look like somebody who just got all their pain erase,
but also their abilities and memories.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
That's the look on your face.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
Oh yeah, I'm Jim Carrey in The Spotless Sunshine whatever
that movie is.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Nailed it.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
All three underdogs win on Thanksgiving. Yeah, Green Bay beats Detroit,
Dallas beats Kansas City, Cincinnati beats Baltimore, and we're in
just this really weird place. Like we mentioned, the three
perennial powerhouses in THEFC could all miss the playoffs. Chicago
somehow beats Philly. Like, let me tell you something about

(13:36):
our fan base. Our fan base is upset frustrated. But
I'll tell you what our fan base isn't doing when
we are one of the top teams in the NFC
and we lose an important game against another top team
in the NFC. We're not going out and egging the
offensive coordinator's house, which is what people in Philly are doing.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
I mean, and on their way to the house, they're
still cop horse crap.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
They did that when they won the Super Bowl. That
they did that when they won.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Of course, somebody's getting egged when they lose. You know,
A shout out to the Vikes defense against the Bears
in that second game. That was unbelievable performance.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
The Chicago thing is interesting to me because on one hand,
you're like, well, you can't deny nine to three. It
would be so insane for all of a sudden, like wait,
are the Bears are the actual number one seed? But
they remind me kind of of us a couple of
years ago. You know that Kirkiar kind of some other

(14:40):
teams where they are succeeding in end of games at
a rate that is pretty rare, and you get a
lot of credit for that, and then you also wonder
can it hold up? And I gotta tell you, I
need it not to hold up. I don't want to
wish a whole city a big loser, you know, a
big losing moment. But I don't need this universe where

(15:05):
the Bears are the best team in art and only
because I know how good Green Band Detroit area. I
don't like that future. I need some crumbling to happen
in Chicago.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Well, yeah, it has to. I think just coordinators need
to realize that if you have a fourteen point lead,
a last minute touchdown isn't gonna matter, So you just
need to take care of that.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
You need to wrap that up against the Bears.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
The Niners are.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
I think they're my pick to go, and I know
no one agrees with that, but I think it's just
because of the narratives early in the season and the
roster turnover, and basically the NFC West is doing what
the NFC North did last season. Rams are nine and three,
they're technically the two seed, tied record wise. Seahawks are
nine and three, technically like they're the five seed. The

(15:53):
Niners are nine and four, they're the seven seed. But
I think when it's all said and done, you might go, oh,
the Niners pulled it together at the exact right time,
and oh yeah, we forgot brock Perty and their whole team.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
They're like really, really, really good at football.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Did you did you have the Rams picked as your
favorite there before the Panther game?

Speaker 1 (16:13):
I had the Rams picked as a potential like one
of the teams that I thought was most likely to
come out in the preseason. Okay, I just think they
they are so well coached, and that when we lost
to them in the playoffs last year, that defense, you
you found out how old some of those guys were,
and you went, oh, this it felt like you remember

(16:35):
when the OKC thunder had Harden Durant and Russ Westbrook
all like on early contracts, Like, well, this will probably
be some version of a problem going forward.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Yeah you go, oh, man, I had their shoes in college.
This isn't going to go great.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
You had their shoes, you weren't you in your you
went to college in your fifties?

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Yeah, yeah, non tradition. You ever heard of it?

Speaker 2 (17:01):
Non trad you're back to school, mom.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
On the bubble, Detroit, Dallas and Carolina. I didn't see
Carolina being there. I certainly didn't see Detroit down here.
If there's a universe where Detroit Buffalo the Bengals, which
will put them on the outskirts because they haven't a
good season because Joe Burrow is hurt. But the Bengals,
the Chiefs, and the Ravens all don't make it. What

(17:26):
a it's kind of what I'm saying, what a bizarro universe?
And it's this feels like the best version of the
NFL since Tom Brady retired. This one year where you go,
I actually don't know. Yeah, every year you felt like
it'll probably be the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
If not, it's the Bills.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Right now, I don't know in the AFC, and I
for sure don't know in the NFC. It feels more
like a real we're coming up on a real tournament.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
Yeah, I think it's gonna be good. And I love
fresh blood. Right, you get sick of going, oh, it's
these two again. I can't even when it's the same
two in the final four.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
It bothers me. I want fresh blood.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
And you want to talk about the Patriots, Dude, Drake
may is leading that team.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
It's unbelievable, dude, watching those guys.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
And Denver's defense is so good. And Sean pa That's
the thing. When you have an offensive coach that good
and a defense that good, it's just gonna be weird.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
You just look at.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Standings and you go New England, Denver, Jacksonville. And I
love me some Jacksonville. Yeah, big fan of Jacksonville. But
I just think it's gonna be fun. I think I
need one of two things. I either need a villain
that I'm rooting against, which I like Patrick Mahomes. It's
not fun to have the chiefs of a villain, or
I need this like, oh my god, I don't really

(18:47):
know these teams. Any of them could take it. Like
I know, it's crazy to say. I could find myself
rooting for New England in the game because they had
all that success for years. But I like Rabel and
I really like watching Drake May.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
Yeah he's so solid quarterback. And I think when you
get fresh blood, it's like watching the March madness when
a team hasn't been in ever before, and so all
they do is run stories on all the coaches and
all the players. And you're four games into this tournament
and they keep winning as the underdog, and before the
game you're like having to have a box of tissues

(19:19):
there because you're weeping about one of the stories.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
That's the kind of stuff I like.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Man, if my team's not in it, teach me something
and let me watch something awesome.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Well, And and then you look at the games going
into week fourteen, and they're nuts. Given who's around the bubble.
You have Dallas Detroit where these are two teams right
on the edge and whoever loses this one's in it.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
Yeah, they both need it.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
They both need it, and they're both so good offensively
that that could be an incredible game to watch. You
have Indy Jacksonville, Jacksonville trying to hold onto that spot,
and Indy's kind of sputtering with two straight losses. That'll
be a fun one. And then I don't know how
you're not like people right by the way the most

(20:05):
and I know it might happen sometimes it's just time.
But the most insane take in the NFL right now
is Mike Tomlins shouldn't be our coach anymore.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Oh that's right. I know.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
People are booing, they're saying fire Tomlin, get out of here.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
What are you even watching?

Speaker 1 (20:22):
It's crazy, it's hus thing. I get the frustration I
get not watching a making a playoff game.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
I just I love our coach.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
But let's let's make me the head of a brand
new fake team and you give me a Mike Tomlin
to start an organization. I would be running around high
fiving people.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
And it's just nuts.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
But that that Baltimore Pittsburgh game, Baltimore is favored by
almost a touchdown. It is Uh, that'll be a really
intense match given everything that's going on. And then we
get to Chicago and Green Bay. Yeah, and it's just
an all time bleep you moment for the Bears if
they want it right. They never win in Green Bay,

(21:05):
they never like the Packers have owned green Bay forever.
And you have a chance at nine to three to
go in six and a half point underdogs and drop
it on their face. Yeah what like Again, I'm not
rooting for the Bears. I don't want success for the Bears,
but I can understand one of those moments where you

(21:26):
get to show everybody up and it's an all time opportunity.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Yeah, this is like watching the two kids that used
to bully you in elementary school fight. You go, I
don't want any of them to win. Somehow, but I
certainly don't want big market. I don't want Yeah, I
don't want there to even be a tie. I somehow
want both of them to lose. I want each team
to get penalized so severely that they both have to
put a loss on their record.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
That's all we can hop for.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Let's let that be instead of doing a game prediction,
let's let that be our Chad and I's prediction for
this week is that Green Bay and Chicago will tie,
which is essentially an unhelpful blemish on both of their records.

Speaker 3 (22:06):
You know what I think is interesting is green Bay
because they tied, it actually did help them because they
have even though they have one less win, they have
one less loss, and so they are actually above somebody
with one more win.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
I don't get it, but they need wins right now,
and so let's give them. Let's give them each.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
A half loss. So let's call it a tie, half win,
half loss.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
That's gonna do it for us on the tailgate, Chad,
I care about you. I hope, I hope deeply that

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
