(00:44):
the Tailgate, brought to you by Ticketmaster, the official ticket

What a difference a week could make the somber energy
that was on this program. We put on good faces
with the negativity that existed on this program when we

(01:07):
recorded it interpersonally last week, compared to how we're feeling
after the Thundersmack we put on the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
It is good joining me.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
As always, the great Chad Daniels. Hey, are teams going
to Europe?

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Baby? They're in Dublin.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
They are in Dublin.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Our producer Jay sent me a message of one of
his Buddies who's landed there for the game already. He's
taken the vacation into the game. And there is a
giant sign up on a building there that shows a
picture of a cartoon Vikings football player and it says,
the last time the Vikings landed in Dublin, they literally

(01:49):
conquered the place.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
No pressure, lads.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Oh, I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
It's great.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
It's also like a tip of the cat, like, hey,
remember when this happened. Let's let's let's keep history alive.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
I just feel good.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I feel that that win last week gives us something
to really build upon, at least in this show, because
you and I I think as a duo we can't
handle consecutive weeks of large negativity.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
That will never be good for us.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
No, it won't. And I'm going to tell you something.
I was at the game, and I know that we
are not a review show, but I need to tell
you something. I need to tell you something. Isaiah Rogers
obviously huge game, first player in NFL history to return
two touchdowns and have two force fumbles. First ever. You
know what my favorite thing about athletes is, it's when

(02:38):
they use their popularity and to like to they spread
it out to the fans. Before the game, Isaiah Rodgers
is down in the end zone play and catch with
people in the stands with little kids, and they're throwing
it back to him, and I was like, you know what,
that is awesome. That's what it is about for me.

(02:59):
And and then this dude has a day.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
It was.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
It was so fun, such a great like little bow
on the package. Fantastic.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I I just and and now if it could give
us something to build on as we have to play
a team. We have to play a team that people
refer to themselves as the fans refer to themselves as
something called a yinser, which sounds sounds like a well,
let's not get into it. It sounds like it sounds

(03:28):
like some sort of terrible drink at an awful party.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Well, I think the beer is yingling from from Pennsylvania.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
That's where it comes from.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
You must have something to do with that same same
pre do you think I think Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
I'm not gonna hammer on Pittsburgh here, because I do
think Pittsburgh has become like a secretly cool There's a
few cities that, yeah, have become secretly cool art towns.
You know, it used to be Ashville and Austin and
places like that, and then they got overrun and all
the artists who couldn't live in those places anymore went
to like Detroit and Pittsburg. So Pittsburgh's a cool city.

(04:01):
I will say this is not an exaggeration. It rains
there more than Seattle, which is wild. And they are
a We have a lot of friends who are Steeler fans,
just randomly, and they are They can be a tough
people to love. They've had a lot of success as fans,

(04:22):
and they can they carry with them. One of our
closest friends, Justin, who is trying everything in his power
to get rid of Mike Tomlin despite not understanding like
there's a bit of spoiled today. I would say the
Steelers fans. Although I like the Steelers, I like their team,

(04:43):
their fans talk to you a little bit the way
Green Bay Packer fans talk to you.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
That's what it feels like.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Yeah, because the Steelers third team to win five Super Bowls,
and so they know it. They have this pedigree and
they will they will talk to They will remind you,
no matter how long ago it was, they will remind
you that they have some Super Bowl wins, and it
is annoying and people are like, well, we don't like Tomlin,

(05:12):
we want him out of there.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I don't know it people that were I understand it's
working out with Jordan Love, but it's like the people
who were pushing Aaron Rodgers out the door, like, get
him out of here, let's get the next guy in here.
It's like, you haven't sat through what anyone else's like.
I think the Steelers have had. I could be incorrect
about this. Jay could could tell me if I'm wrong here,

(05:34):
but I believe they've only had three head coaches. I
think it was Chuck Nole, great name, Bill Cower, all
time chin, like.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
If we're talking like football chins.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
When you put that guy, he's the only one on
Mount Rushmore, an excellent looking, excellent looking football coach.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
And knocked unconscious. He's never been knocking.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
No chance that you you punch him in the chin
and your hand falls unconscious, it just flops back the
other one, Yes, exactly. Uh. And then it's it's mikey
T Mike Tomlin, which you and I are enormous fans
of Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yeah, I think he's a fantastic head coach, knows what
he's doing, brings in the right players, I mean kind of.
And uh, you know, Dk Metcalf, what a brilliant move
where you go, Hey, you thought it rained a lot
in Seattle. Come here for a sec. I'm gonna show
you something.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
You're gonna love it In Pittsburgh. There's no chance it
could rain more here. Uh. And I I gotta tell you,
I've always despite having all those Steeler fan friends, I've
always had an admiration because I as a kid, and
you had to too, being you know, a little a
little ball of I might say energy dough.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Sure like, because we like Kirby.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I like athletes that don't look exactly right where you're like,
how did Kirby Pucket? You know, Kirby Pucket was just
this short, stout, little machine full of legs that didn't
look like he should be the best of the best.
And Jerome bettis, dude, just this just this rumbling, stumbling, bohemoth, bohemoth, yikes,

(07:17):
behemoth of a man.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Uh. Jerome bettis actually I mean I remember growing up
and all the kids that were big that wanted to
be in sports. He gave them that chance.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Because he was an alignment, right, exactly, a huge dude
who is just trucking people as one of the best
running backs of all time.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
One of one of my friends, who is a giant
Steelers fan, was the producer of the TV show that
I created in la that failed, but we still got
to make it. And he produced a lot of TV shows.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
And he had still it feels like bragging. This still
feels like bragging.

Speaker 2 (08:02):
He had a lot.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
You were I asked you to be on the show
and you chose to go on a Mexican vacation. It's
not my fault.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Got to take care of yourself before you take care
of others.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
So I he develops a lot of shows, and as
a Steeler fan, he got to develop a pilot with
Jerome Bettis and he said, first of all, he said,
Jerome Bettis was like the coolest guy, but what the
show was, it was Jerome Bettis would pick up teams
of fans, like a team of two, and they'd like

(08:33):
the great Race and they'd all get on a bus
that Jerome Bettis was driving and then they'd drive around
the city they were in doing different competitions and at
every stop, one the team that came in last place
on that challenge is kicked off the bus like Survivor
until the very last challenge leads them to the stadium
where the winning team gets to sit like front row center,

(08:57):
you know, fifty yard line.

Speaker 2 (08:59):
Excellent, excellent show. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Do you ever hear about a show and you go,
how come that one didn't get on? And then and
then now I'm watching this show?

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yes, how Yeah, I don't understand how with all the
things that I watch when I watch TV, that you
wouldn't put Jerome Bettis's bust Challenge on TV.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
Yeah, put the contestants in swimsuits. That gets sold in
one second.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
One of my other favorite things about the Steelers is
I like, I like, you know, we're so used to
the modern NFL where everything is it's it's year round,
it's every minute, the media business, the actual football, it's
it's this huge monster. But I you know, the Steelers
are one of the iconic franchises of the past, and

(09:45):
there was a time I think when the Vikings joined,
I think they were the fourteenth team to join the NFL.
I could be wrong about that, but so there was
a time when there were less teams and you know,
and even you go back before for that, before even
the Super Bowl era. So the Steelers have been around forever.
But much like much like many things, during the era

(10:11):
of World War Two, football changed and they had to
a lot of the guys were like war age because
they were football players.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
Oh yeah, And so they had to figure out a
way to keep the leagues going.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
And one of the things they did was they combined teams,
and in forty three they combined the Eagles and the
Steelers into a team that they called the Steegles.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Which hates that so much?

Speaker 1 (10:40):
You do you hate it? I think it's my favorite
all time NFL trivia fact, the Stiegles. They're in in
nineteen ninety six, This is this is one of the
you ever remember those TV shows America's Dumbest Criminals.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
I sure do, great show. I think they should have
done it.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
I think they did later years as a panel where
they had comedians on talking about it.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yeah. So this is this is an all time one
of those moments.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
So in nineteen ninety six, the Steelers were having a
halftime field goal kicking contest, which I don't feel like
that happens anymore. Is is that a thing of yesteryear.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
I mean, it happens on college game day. I don't
know if it happens in pro football game.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Definitely still happens in NBA games. They bring up there's
so many breaks, but yeah, I don't think they're just
putting random humans on those I mean, there's so much
effort that's put into those fields and then you just
let you know, somebody's brother in law onto the fields.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
I couldn't did it to be fair. Yesterday at the
Vikings game, they had a Corgi race and I was like,
who's going to get tackled in poop? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
So they're doing a they're doing a halftime field goal
kicking contest and this guy named Alan Adams, he gets selected.
He comes down to kick. But here is the thing.
Alan Adams had a warrant out for his arrest for

(12:10):
skipping bail. Oh what a ding dong dude, And it
was it was from four years before that, it was nine.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
He had a four year old warrant.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
And so he's selected, he goes down and he's gonna
kick at halftime in this years game. And here's a
credit to him. He didn't even think about it. He's like, dude,
what am I gonna not kick at halftime? What are
you crazy? A police officer working security at the game
recognizes his name when it was announced, and he cross
references the name confirms it's the guy. They arrest him

(12:49):
as he's leaving the field. And this is my favorite
thing I read. There was just a sentence in the
summary of it I read that just said he reportedly
did not make any of his kicks.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yeah, that's some good smack talk. I mean, how do
you not grow a beard in four years when you're wanted?

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Come on, right, dude, Oh you're not going by by
Ryan Adams or something else, like you're you're you're on
the run and you made no effort. You're going to
NFL games kicking at halftime with the same face, same hair,
same name.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Come on, man.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
He did try to claim as he was being hauled
away that that he was It was the same name,
but different. Person's like, oh, I'm not that Alan Adams.
I'm a definite, I'm definitely a different Alan Adams.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Now.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
I so let's let's let's shift. Let's talk about the game.
I think the NFL is a week to week league.
And you know, the previous performance against Cincinnati breathes a
different sort of life into the team. That puts, I
don't want to say pressure on this game, but puts
a lot of excitement and potential into this game.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Right, I agree with that. Yeah, I think the defense
is going to have to keep it. And that's one
of my that's my prediction this week. It has to
do with the defense because I think that they they
put on an absolute show. Yeah, and that and that
gives Carson Wentz and the rest of the offense a
chance to take a deep breath when there's a three

(14:24):
and out or whatever, they can go, hey, they have us,
we'll go back out and we'll do something next time
instead of everything being so high pressure. Plus you throw
Addison back into this mix. I think it's going to
get wild.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Dude, And I think that's I wonder what percentage of effect? Right,
because the Christian dearI saw thing you were at the
game that was it breaks the percentage meter exactly the
percentage of effect that dude had over what was going on.

(15:00):
And in no coincidence, Jordan Mason just runs right behind
him for it literally an entire game. It was comical
So my question is what is that percentage of effect
with Jordan Addison coming back? Because I think in the
NFL that it's all a percentage game, right. I talked

(15:21):
about the salary cap a lot, where it's a math
equation how much can you get out of what you're
allowed to pay? So if that's why having a rookie quarterback,
you know, a talented rookie quarterback who can overperform his deal.
But now you know, with Hawkinson coming alive and feeling
being here, if Addison comes back and takes a like

(15:41):
not only comes back, but takes a step forward, which
is really fair to expect in a year three for
a dude like that, I don't know that the level
of percentage gain that could cause and the trickle down
effect it could have on everything we.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Do across the board is wild.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
I think it completely not to be dramatic, but it
completely changes the way you have to prepare for the
offense because Jalen Naylor can get like, he can get deep,
he can get behind people, and then you're gonna have
Addison a guy who can do that but can also
run routes like It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah, I could.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
I think what it's gonna bring is it's gonna bring
more time for whoever is at the quarterback position because
they're they're gonna line up seven, but they're gonna have
to drop guys back because there is no way they
can go single There's there's three people that they're not
going to be able to go single coverage, and if
they do, they're gonna get worn down throughout the game

(16:37):
and they're gonna get burned.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Big Wentz opportunity here in the land of Red Hair.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Like, dude, welcome home, dude, Hey Carlon, welcome, Welcome home brother.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Home game, brother.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Go out there and be the king of the Red Hair. Yeah, dude,
here's the thing, all time nickname in the history of sports,
the red Rifle, Andy Dalton take it. Take it, yeah,
take it from him. Become the new red Rifle and
do it in Ireland.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
And also introduce yourself as Catterson Wentz. You have to
You're home immediately.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
You absolutely have to.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
I on the other side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
You know, we saw him with the Jets.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
It's very weird to see Aaron Rodgers in different uniforms and.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
I just.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
You got to think this is basically the last time
you see him, and for a dude who tormented the
team for as many years as he did, to get
him the way we got him against the Jets, if
you could get him again against the Steelers, and at
least I don't want that moment where he gets us
one more time. I want him to have had his
run in Green Bay. And towards the end we were

(17:51):
really coming around and making it difficult because I think
his last year there we put it on him too,
so to Pete to let that the Barn Rodgers thing
peter out, because the Rogers thing doesn't feel like the
Farb thing to meet. Right, you watch Farb play, he
was like fun to watch and so you were jealous.
The Rogers thing was more like, I don't want this
guy to succeed. So I really don't want him to

(18:16):
bite us in the ass and have a you know,
because he's playing well. I really don't want that throwback
vintage Rogers game in double Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
The Vikings should have huge confidence going into this, just
what they've done the last few times they've faced him.
And you know you said that he tormented a team.
I mean he tormented the fans as well. I spent
a lot of time calling the front office at Lambeau
asking if I could fight him for charity. And I
know he would knock my head off my shoulders because
that's the hip speed you need to throw a football

(18:47):
seventy yards. But I was willing to do it for
the kids and maybe one crack at getting him. So
I am excited for the Vikes to go in with confidence.
I think that they've seen it, they know it, and
I really, really I'm confident, and by the way, I'm
confident they're going to shut them down now.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
I so first team. I believe we're the first team
to play Jake and text me if I'm wrong. I
believe we're the first team to do the back to
back week thing. I think that's very interesting. Have you
you were gonna go on a European vacation that then
got canceled, right, and so did that cross over with this?

(19:29):
Have you ever considered I don't think. I don't think
I do well on the NFL. I have a lot
of friends who are going. I think I'm too insane
of a fan to put me in a foreign country
rooting for me, because I when I go to the
stadium and I have to take the twenty thirty minute
drive home. If the game didn't go the way I want,

(19:50):
that sucks for everybody. You're gonna put me in Europe,
that's a big risk. I think I'm too cocky. If
we win in Europe, nobody's gonna love that. I think
I'm at the pub running mouth. And if it doesn't go, well, dude,
that's a tough plane ride for everybody around me. I'm
not I don't think I'm the quality of fan. I'm
so pumped for everybody that's going, but I don't think

(20:12):
I'm the quality of fan that they want with them.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
There's for two weeks no question that you're not the
quality of fan they want with them. Americans are really
loved overseas right now anyway, So you get over there
and talk crap about this game, it's not gonna go great.
I was so disappointed when I saw the schedule because
I was booked both weeks already to work, and then
I was gonna miss them. I was gonna be in

(20:37):
Germany October eighth through the sixteenth, and so I was
gonna miss them no matter what. But I am jazzed
up to go watch them the next time because I
will be there because I love the idea of just
going over getting to watch your favorite team and then
also you're on vacation. I mean, I think it's terrific.
And guess what, Vike's win and Dublin runs out of guinness.

(21:02):
That's one of my predictions.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
Yeah, yeah, it's I wonder, I wonder how many when
it's all said and done, because this will be the
two back to back weeks. I wonder what the numbers
of fans that'll actually be over there, and it'll be
It'll be really interesting to see. You know, London has
had the thing going on forever and ever and ever,
just to see the excitement in the stadium. And I'm

(21:28):
always fascinated because the Vikings and the Steelers are both
you know, Steelers longer, but they're both early franchises, so
they've been around a really long time. So if you're
somebody over there who did I would assume it's going
to skew of the people who come there. You know,
it's funny when you see a game in Mexico or

(21:48):
Brazil or Europe and it's just like every guy wears
his own jersey. It's just Americans over there, like dude
shown up in his Niners jersey because he's not going
to get a chance to see the Niners. But it
will surprise me, given the Steeler history and success, if
it skewed Steeler in terms of the people in Europe

(22:09):
who travel to the game, Well.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
I think the I think if you're going just Dublin,
I mean Dublin is it seems more like Pittsburgh. It
seems like this bluey, blue collar rainy. So I wouldn't
be surprised if it if it leans a little towards
the Steelers. But listen, I don't I don't think fanship

(22:31):
here is going to matter. It's going to be guys
getting there, staying up as late as they can the
first day to get through the jet lag, and then
just making it happen.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
I love that you're with all the effort and intention
behind sports science in today's day and age. I love
that you in your brain what you think is going
to happen is what happens for you on a commercial
flight to Europe.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
There's no question.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
There's no question. Hey guys, if you're listening, stay up late,
you're welcome.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Let's do predictions.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Game prediction and by the way, we got our Jordan
Mason game. You and I have been on it for
two weeks. We got a Jordan Mason game, we got
a Hockinson breakout game.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
So let's go.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
We'll do Steelers Vikings in Dublin. Let's do score prediction,
player prediction and chad prediction.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
Okay, I'm gonna go score prediction, and no one's gonna
like this because it sounds unrealistic, but I'm gonna go
fifty five twenty one vikings, fifty twenty one vikings my
player prediction. I was lucky enough when I did initials

(23:43):
on the morning show on k Fan, I got to
talk to Josh Mattelis because I was talking to him
about how he's had this game circled on his calendar
since the schedule came out because Rogers got one on
him last time they played. And so I am with
Josh Mattelis. I am supporting forty four and I say,

(24:06):
at least an interception. I don't know if he's going
to bring it back, but I'm gonna say at least
a pick. And my chad prediction is somebody is going
to bring me back a bottle of whiskey and maybe
I start drinking again.

Speaker 1 (24:23):
I I'll go one hundred and twenty eight seventeen vikings.
Keep it consistent. I love the Mattellas prediction. I am
going to I'm going to say I think it's a
big sack day. I'm not going to put it on
any which which I'm maybe going to give it to
Grenard for a couple of them.

Speaker 2 (24:42):
But I think it's going to be a big sack
day for us. And then I'd like Turner to get
a couple.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
That'd be great.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
I think, no matter how the game goes, our next
week's show will be a little frostier from a dynamic
standpoint because the Ireland Games starts at eight thirty Chad time,
which means Chad starts getting Viking related texts from Cy

(25:09):
and his nephew at seven thirty eight o'clock Chad time.
And I think that's gonna be a little intense for you.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Will, but you have to understand that I am going
to be in San Diego, so it's actually going to
be coming in about five thirty.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
So then I predict a frozen dynamic between the two
of us. That's how I see it's going to be
on the next show.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Now we're pros.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
We're going to work through it right, absolutely, so we'll
go with that. We'll go big Vikings win. We're gonna
see Mattellus and some Sacks and we'll see how friendly
we are in the pre show meeting.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
I think it's going to be great because one more
prediction is Saturday night. I'm going to put my phone
on donaw sister.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
Thanks to all of you for joining the show again
this week and for listening on our podcast feed.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
We really appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Leave us a review, it would mean a lot.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
The five star is the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Finally, a huge shout out to Ticketmaster, the official ticket
marketplace of the Minnesota Vikings, for helping make this show happen.
Enjoy the game, everybody,

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
