Speaker 1 (00:00):
Some habits don't announce themselves as a problem. They don't
knock you sideways or cause dramatic fallout. Instead, they slowly
nibble at your confidence without you even noticing. By the
time you realize something feels off, those habits have been
shaping how you see yourself for months, maybe years. M

(00:21):
I'm Scott, and today I want to talk about the
subtle behaviors that silently drain your confidence. These aren't the
big mistakes we all make from time to time. They're
the everyday habits that seem harmless but shape your self
worth in ways you don't recognize until you step back
and look properly. We all have a few of these patterns,

(00:43):
and once you start spotting them, confidence becomes much easier
to rebuild. The first habit is dismissing your own achievements.
You do something well, and instead of taking it in,
you brush it off with it's nothing or anyone could
have done that. Confidence grows when you recognize your wins,

(01:03):
even the small ones. When you constantly downplay yourself, you
teach your brain that nothing you do counts. The second
habit is comparing yourself to a version of someone else's
highlight reel. Social media is brilliant at showing you the
end result of someone else's effort without the years of
work it took to get there. When you measure your

(01:26):
life against someone's curated moments, you will always feel behind.
Confidence drops because you're comparing your reality to their presentation.
The third habit is letting self criticism run wild. Most
people speak to themselves in a tone they would never
use on someone they love. A harsh inner voice chips

(01:47):
away at your belief long before any one else has
a chance. Confidence comes from building yourself up internally, not
tearing yourself down before the world even starts. The fourth
habit is avoiding situations that stretch you, not because you
can't handle them, but because you're scared of how you

(02:08):
look if things don't go perfectly. Avoidance feels safe in
the moment, but long term, it shrinks your world until
you stop seeing what you're capable of. The fifth habit
is saying yes when you mean no. Every time you
override your own boundaries, you send yourself a quiet message
that your needs matter less. That eats away at confidence

(02:32):
because you stop trusting yourself to protect your own well being.
The sixth habit is carrying emotions you never acknowledge. When
you swallow stress, frustration, or disappointment, your confidence suffers because
you start to feel unstable inside. You can't trust your
reactions when you don't understand what you truly feel. This

(02:54):
is where emotional intelligence becomes your anchor. The more aware
you are, the more confident you become. The seventh habit
is thinking you have to earn rest. Confidence needs energy.
When you grind yourself into the ground, you can't think clearly,
show up fully, or feel good about anything you do.

(03:16):
Rest isn't a luxury, it's fuel. What helped me break
these habits was noticing how automatic they were. They weren't choices,
they were reflexes. Once I spotted them, I could challenge
them gently, celebrating small winds, setting boundaries, giving myself permission

(03:37):
to rest. Addressing emotions early. These tiny shifts pulled me
out of the low confidence cycle more than any big
motivational push ever could. If you want help recognizing your patterns,
the Emotional Intelligence Journal has a confidence reflection section and
daily awareness prompts. It keeps things simple, which which is

(04:00):
exactly what confidence building needs. The key takeaway is this
confidence doesn't disappear overnight. It fades in small ways, but
that means it returns in small ways too. A little honesty,
a little awareness, a little courage. These habits don't define you.

(04:22):
They're just signals pointing you toward the areas ready for change.
Thanks for listening today. Back yourself a little more this week.
Even one small step can shift the way you see yourself.
I'll see you in episode nine
