In this episode of Peak Property Performance, Bill Douglas and Drew Hall sit down with Suman Gidwani to discuss the intersection of technology, behavioral change, and commercial real estate. Drawing from experience across multiple industries, Suman shares why successful digital transformation depends less on the technology itself and more on how organizations prepare people to adopt it.

Future of AI in commercial real estate
Bill: Many organizations invest heavily in technology but struggle to see results. Why?
Suman: Technology itself is rarely the problem. The real challenge is helping people understand why change matters and how new tools fit into their daily work. Adoption succeeds when people feel included in the process.
Suman: Organizations often focus on software selection but overlook communication. Employees need clarity around goals, expectations, and outcomes. When people understand the purpose behind change, adoption becomes much easier.
Drew: How should organizations think about AI today?
Suman: AI should be viewed as an enabler rather than a replacement for people. The most successful implementations help employees eliminate repetitive tasks, improve decision-making, and focus on higher-value work.
Suman: There is tremendous excitement around AI, but companies should avoid adopting technology simply because it's trendy. The best approach is identifying real business problems first and then applying technology where it creates measurable value.
Suman: One of the most important leadership skills is communication. Consistently following up, closing the loop, and maintaining open dialogue helps prevent misunderstandings and creates stronger alignment across teams.
Suman: The future of AI will be less about individual tools and more about integrated systems that help people work smarter. Organizations that focus on both technology and human adoption will have the greatest advantage.
Bill: Best career advice?
Suman: Stay curious and remain open to learning from different industries and experiences.
Bill: Habit that makes you more effective?
Suman: Communication. Following up, closing the loop, and staying connected with people consistently.
Bill: Early bird or night owl?
Suman: I used to be a night owl, but moving to the West Coast turned me into more of an early bird. Starting the day outdoors has been a game changer.
